Welcome to the “Showdown”

I feel like Prince BoCheesly, second in line to ascend to the throne as King of the Economic Universe and heir to the Fount of All Knowledge this morning as the S&P (which lately has been the S & P all over the place) arrives in the long-awaited showdown area. To be sure, I have referred to this generally as the “1950” area of the S&P but to be more precise, it is 1,940.24 recorded on January 19th.

Coping: Spring Around the Ranch –The Rise of “Hate”

There is not a lot going on in the news, here lately, so I figured this morning we could just kick back with a cup, or two, and commiserate about Life in general and how things work out – or don’t. A trip to the mailbox is our theme today. On the way out to the mail (our driveway is about half a block long) the peace and quiet of the neighborhood was still being disturbed with my brother-in-law.

Anti-Gravity–the Next Big Tech? A Word on “Disruptives”

While we wait a few seconds for the Retail Sales figures and other fresh data to land, the biggest story in the greater scheme of things is likely the discussion in the Washington Port this morning about how “Einstein predicted gravitational waves 100 years ago. Here’s what it took to prove him right.” This overcoming gravity is not going to be a “fast mover” because there is so damn much engineering ahead, but the discovery of gravitational waves could signal the dawn of a new technology on the horizon; one that science fiction writers have been telling us is coming ever since H.

A Negative on Negative?

Done feel bad, Tonto: I just made it up. Has do with with an odd state of simultaneous convexity and concavity of formerly partial-workable mathematical hieroglyphics (mined from thin air) used by quants.

Coping: Ancient Aliens, True or False?

(Sorry, just trying to be current with the weather mania going about…) While we are sitting around waiting for markets to open, we have one item on the agenda that, while not life changing, in an of itself, is nevertheless extraordinarily interesting. It is a learned report out of the Australian National University that may explain why we have not been having aliens lining up to knock on our doors and save us from ourselves. They may all be dead.

A Word from the Future?

Both Grady (chief coder and guru at our www.nostracodeus.com project) and I are wondering why the words “Washington” and “flash” have started appearing around one another lately?

2017: The Countdown Begins–24 Months Tops

2017. Earlier this week, I asked readers to submit their opinions as to which of our articles have made the most difference in their lives – and would be suitable for submission in annual “column writing” competitions. So to start the year off, here’s a recent article from our subscriber side, www.

Coping: With a Cranky Sun

If not, take a gander at this video over here… In the meantime, just to keep things in perspective, from a radio communications standpoint this is a tiny event. The idea is that what we have had so far is an expectation of a small regional outage of some High Frequency (3-30 MHz) operations on a small part of the Earth’s surface.  Compared with “real-deal” EMP (think Starfish Prime here, which blew out lights in Hawaii 800-miles away) this is a tiddler to be sure.

Housing was OK in October

This was before the Housing wholesale pricing started to creep into the Houston market due to the cheap prices of oil – which is holding things down in that area… So with this as background, off into the Housing report… New York, December 29, 2015 – S&P Dow Jones Indices today released the latest results for the S&P/CaseShiller Home Price Indices, the leading measure of U.S. home prices.

Watch 2,040 on the S&P

The whole future hangs on how the market does relative to 2,040 on the S&P at the close today. Oh, sure, the market will open to the down side this morning. But go back and look at the Peoplenomics Oscillator which I shared yesterday (large view here).
