TriskIranaPhobia? Senator News-Jacker, Agitprop Weekend, New Book

G.A. Stewart has been writing about “blows of steel” for a good long time. We’re pretty sure Stu’s got a “Blow of Steel” now, no question. With the Mossad and IDF carrying out strikes in Iran against the Iranian nuclear program and the military and scientists who support it.

The short takes:

The strikes were not with nuclear weapons, but at least one Iranian nuclear site was heavily damaged.

As for what’s next?  I would imagine Iran will put up at least a “show response”.  But it’s there, one of G.A. Stewart’s “second blows of steel” could land and that’s where we would fear things going, um, ballistic.  So the main narrative in the MSM today is ‘Iran must make deal, before there is nothing left,’ warns US’ Trump.

Yeah, well, we’ll see…  For now, eyes will be on the markets at the open. Dow SFutures were down about 500-points earlier.  Due in part to Oil prices surge as much as 13% as Israel strikes Iran in major escalation.  Of course, there’s also the Fed meeting coming on rates next week.  And we trust you saw our (AI) analysis of the latest Z.1 Federal Funds of the United States report.  If not, it’s over here.

Bottom line is household incomes are dropping now, and that could feed into the “what’s next’s) of a whole bunch of pending news items we track.

Market Impacts

Based on early futures pricing, the world is not ending:

Going into press time, Dow futures were down more than 400 and BTC was holding around $105,000.  Gold futures were $3,442-ish.

Troubling Weekend Ahead

We are “running the plan” here today, as we outlined in the Peoplenomics in-depth report Wednesday.  There isn’t too much “regular people” can do (except be well-prepped) ahead of craziness going viral.  But, oh my, do we have armload of that.

At issue is the president’s deploying National Guard (under his command, not the CaliGov Newsom’s) to protect federal property and assets in Los Angeles.  At first we read how Federal judge blocks Trump from deploying National Guard to Los Angeles.  But immediately after? Federal appeals court rules Trump can maintain control of National Guard in US state of California.

As one story puts it, Army parade collides with protests over Trump’s deployment of military on US soil – CSMonitor.com.  (We admire the long-term news track record of the Christian Science Monitor on large events.  They, along with the Miami Herald and a few others seem to reflect the American Middle’s views pretty well.

Senator / News-Jacker

By now, I’m sure you have read about the handcuffing of a U.S. senator in Los Angeles which the left is turning into a cause du jour with stories like ‘Shocked’ and ‘sickened’ Democrats react with fury to video of Padilla’s removal.

And it’s not like the president’s team has been subtle about their view: Trump official vows to ‘liberate’ LA; Democratic US senator taken away and handcuffed.

In our (old newsman’s) view, the senator should be censured for his behavior.  Here’s why.

News-Jacking is an old (and frankly) insulting tactic of the Left.  I can not tell you how many times (back covering the Vietnam War protests in this country) how often someone from the left-leaning press would come into a press conference and attempt to “hijack the event.”

All of the reporters – back in the day, anyway – we abhorred with such arrogance.  I remember one anti-war rag (tiny thing, handful of readers) which came into a press conference and asked a literally 3-minute question.  But there was no question being asked; that lefty reporter was just trying to speak at the newsmaker’s legit press event.

This is what we call news-jacking.  Where a non-principal goes FULL EGO and tries to rip-off the press event.  And after watching what happened Thursday, sure looks to me like this is exactly what happened.

The senator was not the story.  Kristi Noem was not the story.  The story is about how the (sanctuary) city of Los Angeles is supporting an (illegal) tolerance policy for lawbreaking.  You do remember that being in the U.S. without proper entry paperwork is illegal, right?

Well mannered, middle of the road reporters, back in the day, were deeply offended when egotistical anyone’s got in their way of reporting both sides of the story.  If the senator had something to say (*and anyone cared) he could have been “available” out in the hall, afterwards.  That would have been legit, seeing it?

But he ain’t press, he had no business interrupting asking questions (senators have a different process called “hearings” if they have questions for a Cabinet official.  WATCH: CNN’s Plan Backfires After Invited Legal Expert Defends DHS Over Padilla.

Looks to us like flagrant news-jacking.  So no, we won’t be wringing our hands, or shedding tears over misbehaving politicians.

Agitprop Weekend

Oh, look what our AI stack just popped out!

“Agitprop: Propaganda, especially in art or media, designed to provoke emotional reactions and promote a political agenda through oversimplification or manipulation.

Avoiding it this weekend:

    1. Check sources: Verify information from primary, reputable outlets; cross-reference claims.  (Good luck with that: the CSM, Miami Herald, and a few others. The NE Captive Media jungle should be avoided.)
    2. Pause before reacting: Reflect on emotionally charged content to avoid knee-jerk responses.  (In this video from 1:31) Media nowadays is about “selling sides” rather than even-keeled reporting.  Attaching to one side or the other gets you “stuck.” This creates more partisans.
    3. Seek nuance: Engage with diverse perspectives and avoid echo chambers on platforms like X. Consider limiting your news input to 15-minutes a day – total.  Any additional time with media just tends to get people “more stuck.”
    4. Focus on facts: Prioritize data over narratives; question exaggerated or one-sided stories. And tell yourself “Ignore file footage” – another great means to manipulate.
    5. Limit exposure: Take breaks from heated online debates to maintain clarity. Again, the one word is “detach!”

So the rational view?

“This weekend, the worst-case scenario could see Iran retaliating militarily against Israel’s recent strikes, escalating Middle East tensions, while Los Angeles protests against ICE raids and National Guard deployment turn violent, with courts failing to resolve the legal battle over troop control, fueling further unrest; simultaneously, the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary parade in D.C., coinciding with Trump’s birthday, could inflame “No Kings” protests nationwide, leading to clashes and deepening national divisions.

Conversely, the best-case scenario might involve Iran and Israel de-escalating through diplomatic channels, with no further strikes, while L.A. protests remain peaceful under a court ruling that clarifies National Guard authority, reducing tensions; the D.C. parade could proceed smoothly, with “No Kings” protests staying non-violent, fostering constructive dialogue and avoiding major disruptions.”

We’ll have the coffee ready Monday to see which one of these (or which middleground) comes to pass.  In the meantime, it’s you who’s on the menu:  The War You Didn’t Know You’re In: Understanding Fifth-Generation Warfare and Unrestricted Warfare.

Around the Ranch:  New Book, ShopTalk Sunday Remains

My latest novel is now live on Amazon for Kindle.  It will be available free for Peoplenomics.com subscribers tomorrow.

The Eisenhower Memo: The Hidden Past of Directorate 153 (Book 2 of the David Shannon Adventure Series) by George A. Ure is a gripping, high-stakes thriller that blends conspiracy, science fiction, and historical intrigue. Set in a vividly realized 2025, this electrifying sequel to DreamOver follows Navy operative David Shannon as he unravels a decades-old secret that could reshape humanity’s future—or destroy it.

In the pine-shrouded darkness of Anderson County, Texas, George Ure, an 70-something prepper and economic blogger, receives a midnight visitor: a defector named Walker, bearing a USB drive labeled “Eisenhower Memo.” The files reveal Directorate 153, a shadow cabal born in 1946 under Dwight D. Eisenhower and Walter Bedell Smith, designed to harness America’s post-WWII might.

What began as a plan to stabilize a war-weary nation morphed into a chilling conspiracy: a consumption-driven world, orchestrated by ex-OSS spooks, Wall Street titans, and Bell Labs scientists, manipulating culture, technology, and desire to keep humanity docile. Roswell? A staged distraction. Transistors? Seeded to spark a gadget obsession. Now, with AI poised to lock humanity in a digital cage, defectors like Walker are desperate to expose the truth.

David Shannon, guided by the psi-abilities unlocked in DreamOver, is drawn into the fight through shared dreams with Texas financier Richard Sperry. Their minds, linked by the Navy’s secretive Project DreamOver, glimpse a 1953 rebellion led by David’s father, Reed Shannon, and reporter Clara Vance. The duo uncovered Directorate 153’s pact with the Accord—an alien syndicate trading advanced tech for Earth’s compliance….”

Books 3 and 4 will be along one of these days…

Have to say, the once hard line between nonfiction and fiction seems to be blurring…

OK, it was going to be a short column this morning. But we do make exceptions for wars breaking out.

ShopTalk Sunday will be around this weekend.  So plan to drop by then…

  2. “crypto currency/web risks:”

All cash substitutes and even cash are in the same web risk boat. The web crashes. The gold dealer gives all on hand cash to the first seller. The next seller(s) are offered checks for their gold. But the bank can’t process the checks because the web is down. That’s how it works.

An alternative might be the gold dealer conserving cash and only offering face for gold coins. But in the end selling gold won’t matter because without the web there isn’t anything to buy as shipping and inventory management systems go away. In any scenario if the web goes everything is gone and people run in circles tripping out.

But maybe I have it wrong?

      • The Internet crashes. A bunch of folks take their gold necklaces to the local $WMT. For some reason the manager shows up to the dark store and opens. This manager also knows how to test and weigh gold grains and is willing to do so for the legacy of old man Walton.

The gold holders clean the place out bartering their gold for the stuff. That $WMT will never be filled again.

The POS has no way to communicate to the supply chain. The chain will be gone. Mass communication will be gone too.

You’re right in that nobody knows and that’s why there’s preppers/survivalists.. They believe they have a work around.

Maybe I have it wrong and $WMT doesn’t use the Internet… and neither do food companies, trucking/ocean vessel companies, power companies. In this case the Internet going won’t matter.

Put some devices into the future by milliseconds, some into the past by years changing up every few nanoseconds. But I don’t know if corrupting the Time Protocol or time servers is possible, Iran could be exploring.

    Folks,
Please, be comfortable on the couch. It would appear that the word “triskaidekaphobia” did not directly originate from the Iranian Parthian Empire of the 3rd century bc. Rather, word of fear of the number 13 may have first seen print in 1910 with the tome “Abnormal Psychology” by Isador Coriat, America’s first psychoanalyst.

Further investigation of matters perhaps hidden behind pictorialized greco comedy-tragedy masks could cause one to exclaim out loud in a state of “paraskevidekatriaphobia”. Such phobia of Friday the 13th may be observed in more northerly climes expressed in a Norse manner like “friggatriskaidekaphobia”. This latter term lends itself to being axed into a more manageable expression of “frigg”.

playing chicken with countries with as great or more nuclear missiles over a god dam number is pure insanity. but then that’s my opinion..

The high castle is an awesome series.. visited with the script writer about it..he was a friend on facebook.. I had this vision that the diary I bought in the middle eighties would make a great movie a great story.. it is my most precious book. I didn’t even know what it was.. I bought a box of old books at a rummage sale shoved it in the closet..then forgot about it..years later I needed a notebook and remembered there was a leather bound notebook in that box..it was the diary every other page photos.. The Tsar Nicholas II of Russia realized that something had to be done.. the people had been pointing out the starvation of the citizens.. ( he procrastinated about getting relief for the people..waited to long…)he went to the president asked for help. the president reached out to the YMCA to see if farmers here would be willing to teach the farmers there.. the diary was one farmers journey to escape the revolution.. the Bolsheviks .. I actually believed Anastasia survived and came to the USA. on there journey they were warning others of the revolution was happening and it all wasn’t just some conspiracy theory. A nanny from the palace asked them to take a young girl with them posing as a nurse. later after DNA proved Anastasia was killed it became pretty obvious the nanny handed over her own daughter to be saved..
what surprises me is time after time the warnings were told and ignored.. Germany France the let them eat cake if they don’t like it.. where Mari Antoinette would probably never lost her head.. she instead ignored the pleas for help ..where if she had brought buckets of soup ( stone soup story) she could have lived a long life.. Nicholas if he had acted sooner the whole family could have survived..in Germany assisting the public could have avoided the tyranny of Adolph … the fall of Rome and egypt..in every instance the separation of the social classes pushes the gap wider those at the bottom plead for a hand up..they aren’t interested in the riches..they are only concern is being able to survive.. the inability to see this need is what history repeatedly shows that when leaders neglect the needs of the people in favor of greed and self-preservation, civilizations begin to unravel. From ancient Rome to the Weimar Republic, the cycle is eerily familiar: wealth concentration at the top, growing disparity below, and eventually, social unrest or outright collapse.
The downfall of leaders often comes not just from their inability to govern where if they had only given them a hand up..

  11. Isreal strikes with over 200 aircraft..,

What I thought was interesting was that not one was shot down.

What happened to the air defenses of Iran ? – who just last week stated no aircraft could penetrate their missile defense system.

Seems this first sortie shows a very large weakness in their military build-up. You can have a large standing Army – that doesn’t take much., but if you can’t stop the enemy aircraft from attacking – it is useless.

Will the second attack – that Israel has promised – target Iran’s infrastructure? Bridges, ports, power distribution.., etc. That would be my choice for a second wave. Followed very closely by a Third wave targeting all missile launch sites, warehouses and manufacturing centers. Then a Forth Wave – right back to their nuclear facilities. [ Isreal does not have a way to deploy the large Bunker Buster munitions – do they?]
All within a 48 hour time frame. Not talks – No negotiations until these four assaults are complete.
Then.., and only then – ask Iran if they want to play nice.

It won’t happen this way – but it would be nice to see.

      • I agree, JC. Not one Israeli aircraft was lost or suffered significant damage. Color me suspicious! That raised my spidey senses. Was Iran lying low and gathering electronic intelligence for itself or for some sponsoring superpower, or for some future offensive operation against Israel? Perhaps China and/or Russia convinced the Ayatollahs to ‘hold’ and participate in a grand deception, gathering said intelligence about top tier U.S. manufactured aircraft and their systems which could be used later in a more widespread and decisive series of military operations? This was just too damn easy. As is always said in the Star Wars films, “I have a bad feeling about this.”

    • “What happened to the air defenses of Iran ? – who just last week stated no aircraft could penetrate their missile defense system.”

Braggadocio and bluster do not an “air defense” make…

The Mossad is the best there is. By the time the IAF arrived, Iran was “deaf, dumb, and blind, and neutered,” and their antiaircraft batteries were either offline or had ceased to exist.

“Israel does not have a way to deploy the large Bunker Buster munitions – do they?”

We like B-52s, but have used B-2s. We use the C-130 (AC-130?) fitted with bombay doors to deliver both our most-massive bunker busters and the MOAB. I should think such doors could be retrofit to any transport plane. Hell, you could fly in a WW-II Lancaster, as porous as Iran’s air defenses are…

Bear in mind a “bunker buster” is a heavy bomb with a hard nose and a finely-tuned, shaped charge, on a delay fuse. A 10-ton conventional BB is probably more-effective than a 10Kt nuclear BB because the nuke is too powerful to shape its charge. It would be more of a “make a big hole to help the conventional bomb penetrate” type of device. I see the IAF using multiple conventional BBs, delivered a day or so apart in the same hole, until those 300-400+ foot deep labs are dust, rather than a (messy for hundreds of miles and dozens of years) nuke.

I believe what Israel wants as much as (or more than) anything, is to eradicate the Ayatollahs and free the nation. I posted a link a few days ago to the wedding of the Iranian Princess to the Jew. I didn’t do that just to poke fun at the BCN. There are a million Iranians living in suburban Detroit, and another million-five scattered about Ureup who’d return to their Persian paradise within weeks if Reza Pahlavi took over and became Shah of Iran. He would make Iran a very strong friend of both Israel and the U.S., and relieve at least 80% of all the tension in the Middle East. Iran would likely stop tossing homosexuals off buildings and toss Muslim fundamentalists, instead.

      Range when loaded out ?

      Were they exclusively used ?

No F-15’s or anything of the sort ?

Tel Aviv to Tehran is 1,000 miles. Was refueling positioned along the way ?

Is this the combat debut of the F-35 ? If yes , maybe their signature is THAT small…

I was one of many who laid the groundwork for, what later became known as “blockchain.” I moved on, not long after they arrested Phil Zimmerman, but the point is, I’m no slouch when it comes to cybersecurity. My 1024 BYTE PGP key was fanfuckingtastic. It was orders of magnitude better than the CIA algos of the time and had no back door.

The Chinese quantum computer could crack it in about 40 seconds.

It is impossible for the average Joe to realize, how far computing has come in the past 25 years, let alone comprehend how huge a leap, actual, true quantum computing will be. I expect a return to PM-backed, or (likely) circulating PM coinage, because once the new computer age is here, everything electronic, without exception, will be able to be compromised, cloned, and/or stolen in real time, and that includes blockchain, credit cards, smart meters, the “mark of the beast” for anyone who gets an ID chip embedded in their forehead — literally EVERYTHING that’s electronic.

not necessarily GU. illegal wouldn’t apply to anyone who entered legally and overstayed – visa, refugee, asylum, TPS. these folks would be liable for civil penalties.

    • You’re right that overstaying a visa or other legal status isn’t a crime like illegal entry—it’s a civil violation that makes someone deportable. However, when I refer to being in the U.S. without legal paperwork as a ‘crime,’ I’m addressing the broader issue of unlawful presence, which includes both criminal unlawful entry and civil violations like overstays. The term ‘illegal’ is commonly used to describe anyone without lawful status, but I appreciate the nuance you’ve raised. The key issue is that both groups are violating U.S. immigration law, which is why I frame it as a problem on UrbanSurvival.com.

    • “Your papers, please” (or “papers, please”) is an expression or trope associated with police state functionaries demanding identification from civilians during random stops or at checkpoints.[1] It is a cultural metaphor for life in a police state.

The phrase was popularized as the first line in the classic 1942 movie Casablanca which depicted life in Vichy-controlled Casablanca during World War II. The film opens with a scene of police officers searching a hotel for refugees fleeing from Nazi-controlled territory. The first line of the film is spoken by a police officer to a civilian he stopped on the street: “May we see your papers, please?” The civilian produces a document, but a second police officer declares that it “expired three weeks ago” and begins to tell the civilian he is under arrest. The civilian attempts to flee the police but a gunshot is heard and the civilian falls to the ground.

      • “Papiere bitte?”

is something we’ve already been conditioned to accept. Maybe they didn’t have checkpoints in Italy during COVID? We sure as hell had them in the U.S. I don’t even live in an especially draconian State, yet during the lockdown we had cops at every county line. If your papers weren’t in order, you didn’t get to cross into the next county. I am Emergency Management, so I did, but I still had to show my ID before they’d let me go.

Don’t say “papers, please.” That’s an Android gaming app for your phone…

  14. I finished my first short story – on my “First Job”.
    Let “The Mrs” read it.
She finished – closed the notebook – handed it back to me and walked out of the room without a word.
A couple of minutes later she walked back in, holding a glass of red wine.

    “Do you miss it?”
    “Miss what?”
“What you used to do..,” pointing at the notebook.
“No. Not really.” I set the notebook aside and got up off the couch. “I had my run.”
“I never would have thought of handling those guys in that way.”
“At that time, you were a beach-bum surfer girl in California.., you don’t have my training, experience, background or attitude.” .., and I headed for my own glass of liquid red.
“That’s true enough.” She followed me into the kitchen. “Could you do it today? If someone needed help., could you?”
I smiled at her.., “When your closer to eighty then you are seventy.., limitations apply.”
“Oh., bull. I’ve seen you make your moves…, remember that punk in front of Bear Foods? You took him out rather fast for a “old man”. I was there., remember?”
“Well., he pissed me off and my ‘Viking’ came out.”
I took a large sip of my newly poured Piazzano. “I think the question might be better put.., not “could I ?”.., but “would I ?” ., and I walked back into the living room. She followed.
“If someone really needed help – I would consider it.” And sat down on the couch. “But I am not all that interested – beside., what I did way-back-when you couldn’t do it today. Not the way I did it. ” ., and took another sip.,”Bad guys today have some pretty good technology.”
“You mean like the drug house on the other side of the grade school.., ten, twelve years ago?” ., and gave a small grin.
“What makes you think I had anything to do with that house burning down?” and grinned back.
    .
All of this is currently “on hold”.., as Israel has managed to confuse my charts and math model., and starting tonight we will have a country in total chaos. “Now.., where did I put my magazine reloader?”

  15. .., and I have to say this.

Headline: “Unrest in the Middle East ! ”

Unrest? Israel just declared war on Iran. Eight other countries are currently mobilizing their military, and the U.S. has shifted its military assets around and evacuated non-essentials from any government post within range of Iranian missiles.

Slightly beyond “Unrest”.., wouldn’t you say.
