Transitory Madness: Trade and Dim Prospects

Elaine and I watched a marvelous doc on Netflix last night about “How Cat’s Think.”  Well worth Ure’s time.

Especially because Elaine calls me The Dog (all men really are dogs, after all).  And I call her The Cat (lithe, graceful, slinky and quiet…).  should I bark at her – she hisses (and meows) back.

We’re into this Me Dog, You Cat (or You dog! ME Cat!) thing because it enables a couple of have superb non-word communications.  When I bark (or growl) at her, the “mood of the bark” is all that matters – not words which people get stuck in their thinking and ruminate over, fret and stew.

Similarly, when she hisses or meows at me, I know her “cat language.” Which can distinctly answer a Scooby-Doo-like inquiring male dog inquiry.  (If the answer is a purr, adult time follows.  Depending on intonation of the meow, a future time may be implied.  A hiss is her feline equivalent of “Hell NO!” and I head back for the kennel (my office).

So that’s how the DogNCat Thing works.  And why the Netflix thing is so fun.  Because if RAMS HOME the knowing that words are more dangerous than sounds.  Mainly because words are full of subtle meanings useless in the larger contexts of Life.

After the show, I went out to the screen porch.  Where I clearly said “Zeus!  Do you want $100 bucks to skip dinner tonight?”

No answer, except a somewhat perplexed look.

“Have You Flipped, Ure?”

No.  I’m just explaining that Cats don’t give a shit about paper assets.  Even if you print a long string of additional zeros on it, the fact remains, Cats are realists.  Like in the Method School of Acting (“What’s my motivation?”) Humans are the only species who get wrapped up in their own play-acting.  It’s like stars in Hollywood – running off with the props!

We call if Financial Engineering.

“Why don’t you just chill, Fatso?” Zeus later asked.  “You get up every day and go sit in your damn office and day trade or write books.  Follow my lead, buddy:  Nap.”

He then began to lecture – as cats will.

“See, we’re direct experiencers of Life, boss.  You and Blondie Bunny even know the direct (no words, no persistent anger) experience allows you to de-stress and live longer.  But have you ever considered the absurdity of your intricate system of trading work for paper?  Then trading paper for gasoline, paper for insurance, paper for taxes so you MAYBE will have enough paper at the food store?  Cat’s think through the Whole Deal.  We know when there’s a rat about.

Even worse now?  You invent Notionals – like that digital tulip stuff – to make another layer on top of the Paper Layer.  So not only you can screw with Nature using climate words to propel notional donations  – to acquire paper – to pay the tax that elects the rats that live in the house that George built.  Going too fast for you?”

Zeus has been spending almost all days outside (all summer) and hanging with Sam (antha or uel, the Siamese of uncertain gender.  If this were only California, we could just make something up and it would stick.  A bit like cats, there are still Texans who are direct experiencers of shared Reality.  Skeptics at the door of the Digital Looneyverse.

Like the film implied, Cats may be smarter than Dogs.  Zeus has never run off with a slipper, either.

International Trade

Since the rats have allowed the export of most American Manufacturing, it’s useful to see how bad things are.  We can’t, of course, because as indirect experiencers/voyeurs of Life we only see paper.  Not unit volumes.

As a result, when the Dollar is Strong (*look, quick! Before it collapses on Biden financial hijinks), the Balance of Trade seems to improve.  To wit:

But there is this other reality.  Where (like Zeus actually counting mice, not papers with zeros), we see what’s really going on in unit volumes when we hang around the railroad workers:

The henchpersons of Sloppy Joe – still trying to foist off “This isn’t a Recession” on the financially stupid don’t want to admit.  Total rail traffic down 3 percent for the first 33-week of 22.

The choice is yours:  Biden admin happy-talk (gone to the dogs, have we?) or the direct experiencers 3 percent decline YTD.

Personal Income and Expenses

With a nod to the late Everett Everest Horton, narrator of the Fractured Fairytales series on teevee, may we have the envelope, please?

Personal income increased $47.0 billion, or 0.2 percent at a monthly rate, while consumer spending increased $23.7 billion, or 0.1 percent, in July. Gas prices will head skyward just as soon as the buyoff of voters ends on election day and then inflation will go to shit promptly thereafter.

“And they’re all living happily ever after,” goes the fairytale.  Why, of course they are.

Pied Pipers of Democrats

This is rich – I mean REALLY rich – considering what newspaper was hard-selling the entire Trump Russia Collusion notion and hounding Trump out of office with nearly daily bashings:  NYT Editorial Says Prosecuting Trump ‘First Step’ to End Democracy ‘Crisis’.

How many mornings did we award the Times first place for Trump slams?  Here we are – all that publicity about a proven lie… Same paper that hasn’t called for a Hunter grand jury, is it?

Plenty of dirt to go around, though: Here we see a democrat prosecutor making waves with Meadows, Powell testimony sought in Georgia election probe.

This afternoon, the Trump affidavit for the Mar-a-Lago search (redacted to leave out anything useful) will be released.

And while the NY Grand jury going after Trump is on hiatus, the democrats have (oh, so coincidentally timed that for October just ahead of elections), we see yet-another democrat female bashing republicans as Kathy Hochul’s call for 5.4M Republicans to leave New York is dangerous.

When you’ve followed elections as long as I have (>50-years) you learn to read stories and put them into mental compartments that look like side-by-side Project files.  The ebb and the flow of the bashing has nothing to do with right, values, goals, or ethics.  It’s only about winning even if We the People lose in the deal.  Again, to the cat’s point about direct or indirect living.

Last note about elections:  Sean Hannity and Other Fox Stars Face Depositions in Defamation Suit.  This is where Dominion (voting machines) are suing the deep media pockets for defamation.  All over whether machines could be tweaked to a desired result…

Notes and Notable

The Real data point isn’t in the headlines:  Biden’s Job Rating Rises to 44%, Highest in a Year (gallup.com.  To us, the real data point is that his ratings went up when he was off center stage for two weeks of vacation.  Why, if he would just vacation another 100-weeks, he might get a second term – Obama’s fourth?

Twitter has been told:  Twitter ordered to give Musk additional bot account data.  We’ll set a timer and circle back to this one.

War closing in:  We have mentioned (or should have) that on a number of prophesy boards on the web, people have claimed that “the wars” will begin when the big space mission goes up.  Not long to wait now since The Artemis I moon mission is set for liftoff Monday. Watch live as NASA launches its new $50 billion mega-rocket.

Fed Speech

Jerome Powell’s speech today on rates and inflation will be closely watched.  A pre-speech rundown at USA Today Jerome Powell speech: Fed chair’s words could offer rate hike clues only serves to perpetuate the idea that the Fed knows what it is doing.

Any nincompoop student of Game Theory would already know that the Fed may know what IT is doing.  But we live in a competitive (dog eat dog, and if there’s any left, China will get them) world.  International cooperation only seems to arise when two or more countries are about ready to lose.

You see Thursday where Total factor productivity-defined as output per unit of combined inputs–fell in 60 of the 86 4-digit NAICS manufacturing industries in 2020, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported?

    It seems reasonable to concede that SOME sort of UFOs exist. (99% hoax, 1% Real: Still shows there’s probably SOMEthing there.

    Whatever the Real ones are, they show flight performance properties that conventional scientific and engineering wisdom doesn’t understand. UFOs can do impossible things.

    AND, more importantly, they do what they do without blasting gobs of super-high pressure FIRE-EXPLOSIONS out their ass end.

    A not UNreasonable conclusion is that they have some sort of lift and strong acceleration directional control power / force / “drive” on-board. And, it ain’t rockets.

    Until we (the global civilization) discover and develop whatever that Source is, we’ll be stuck messing around with dirty and dangerous and ponderous and hyper-expensive rockets.

    We’ll never expand “out there” as long as we’re stuck with firecrackers rammed up our butts.

    And we’ll never do that, and get off this Rock, if we blow ourselves up first — or devolve into permanent Mad Max world.

    Those are the stakes: survival of our species.

    We’re right now forging the answer.

        The only way we can honestly “achieve the stars” is with a united Earth.

        We are many generations, possibly millenia, away from being grown-up enough to form a proper one world government. The people trying to force a one world government today are trying to create a Marxist utopia, not a springboard by which Mankind can grow and achieve nearly infinite, growth and species immortality.

        Roughly 90% of all nations on Earth are socialist/communist or socialist/corporatist, and have only been made viable by the United States’ “conspicuous consumption.” Earth, under one-world socialist rule, will never achieve the stars because there will never be an incentive to achieve anything worthwhile, let alone interstellar travel.       • I just finished reading Foundation and am half way through Foundation and Empire. Much of what is going on today seems based on concepts in Foundation. I’ve been scribbling notes each evening while reading in bed…you can’t do that with a Kindle! Here are a few things he says that have been mimicked from the books to use against us:

      • I would have to agree with Ray to the extent that when government, like in the US, has their had in everything, then you are, at a minimum, a socialist country. Several years ago I offered a million dollars on FB to anyone who could name one area of our lives that the government isn’t in. No one go the million bucks. Someone tried to make the case that government isn’t in the church, but the fact that ordained ministers don’t pay into social security nixed that one. And, of course, Bush the Second and his socialist Republican collegues passed a law that funds “faith based organizations” for certain things.
        So, I would argue the US is beyond socialist now, including supposed red states. Take Ohio for example. The R governor is a marxist. Here’s just one thing he did: He used state tax dollars and bought up hundreds of thousands of doses of HCQ. Every Ohio governor appoints their own people to the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. Well, after buying up all the doses of HCQ, he turns around and has his OBP appointees outlaw HCQ. There are a lot more examples. Sadly, he’ll be re-elected in November.

        I don’t respond to trolls. They have no concept of truth or accuracy. Their sole reason to post is to sucker other posters into responding to them, and they will say anything to elucidate that response. They also lack imagination, have rudimentary search skills (which they’ll use to find opinions which go against the opinion of the poster they intend to flame) and are singularly lacking in both imagination and common sense.

        If you and LOOB quit taking the bait, the troll will either become a contributing poster, or will move on to someplace else.

        BTW, there were 212 nations, protectorates, and city-states (like Monaco) in Earth’s geopolitical universe, the last time I checked. I stand by my percentage, and defy anyone to name even 22 nations which, based on their government’s actions, not somebody’s opinion, are not socialist.

        There’s a lot to learn from Trantor. I suggest you read the Foundation series in time-chronological order, then go back and read them again. I did not pick up many of Asimov’s subtleties until I began to read them for a third time.

        After your journey into Hari Seldon’s headspace, you might consider entertaining the same reader program with Asimov’s Robot series…

        Agreement not necessary, observation is sufficient. We take for granted that France and Sweden are Socialist. By measuring the metrics of central authority / central planning and intrusion, the U.S. is more “socialist” than either, and has been for 15 years.

        @LooB, I have all the Louis L’Amour books except one…gave that one to a kid last trick or treat night who was dressed up as a cowboy. I saw him coming a half a block away, ran in the house, up the stairs, over to the bookcase, and back down just as he was getting to the porch steps. His mom, dad and sister were with him. His dad saw the book and that it was a L’Amour and stated he had read those when he was a kid. I told him he could pass that along now as a tradition and suggested he read a chapter to him at bedtime each evening. The problem is…I forgot which title I gave him so need to do a full inventory so it can be replaced. Best trick or treat ever!
        I emailed that little story to L’Amour’s son and received a really nice email back. Just pass’n the traditions down the line!

Captain ordered all hands to their birthing areas ( he WHAT ??? ). Cleared the island and flight deck too. ( unheard of ! ). I was MAA at the time and was tasked with keeping a portion of the hangar bay clear. Look out to my left by L4 and “something” was coming up out of the water. ( it wasnt a sub ). All it takes is one sighting…

      • I have used ‘Watchers’ in several of my Science Fiction novels. The Watchers are bots from the Federation of Sentient Spacefaring Worlds. Direct contact with humans cannot be taken until they are able to reach another planet.

How people have time to research, arrange the information, do the animation, record, edit and upload it all is beyond me.   12. Interesting market tid-bit. Yesterday Elliot Wave International issued a report stating, that 33 stocks were about to enter a 3rd Wave UP. If you follow Elliot Wave Theory, you know that the 3rd Wave can often be the longest and strongest move in the 5-wave pattern. If you had followed this advice in April of 2020 you could have ridden bitcoin from 7,000 to 64,000 in one year. My point? If we are at the top of Wave 2 up and at the turning point of a Wave 3 down in the overall market direction.., how are these 33 stocks poised to go into a wave 3 UP ?
    So.., we are not in, or at the beginning of, a Wave 3 down ? Given the market’s reaction to Powells’ statement this morning [Dow down 1.6% / NASDAQ down 2.45%] I am not so sure. OR., there is still room for a brief, yet somewhat dramatic rise in the markets ? Not so sure about that, either.

          This afternoon, I will be getting ideas from another dozen CD’s of old books I purchased on eBay.
          Some of these include topics like Greenhouses, Drawing, Shop Tips, Gare3ning, Journalism, the Craftman Magazine, The Boy Mechanic, Home to building Cottages, Cabins, and Shanties..

          Typically, they have anywhere from 25-150 ebooks on them as PDFs – the Boy Mechanic has something like 700 projects on it – things to do, make, and experiments.

    Love him, hate him or just don’t have a clue about him, something the Chairman of the privately owned off shore “United States” Federal Reserve said something today that you need to put into practice (my bolding):

    For the past 2 years and, especially right now, you are being told every second of every minute to expect the economy to crash, billions to die, to not use gas cars, for the electric grid to crash, to not be able to heat your house, to go hungry, to spend 30% more on average for everything, to be in a world war, to get your head wrapped around social credit scores, to use a vax passport, to depend on government, to worship the weather as a religion, and to fall for Liz Chaney’s promised civil war.

      Certainly a fair number of us are aware that the people running our government are not the people who are really in control of political and economic matters, domestic and foreign.       Many of the predictions made in that 1981 article have since come to pass, such as the unknown Felipe Gonzalez becoming prime minister of Spain, and Mitterand being returned to power in France; the downfall of Giscard D’ Estang and Helmut Schmidt, the return to power of Swedish nobleman and Committee of 300 member Olaf Palme, the nullifying of Reagan’s presidency and the destruction of our steel, auto and housing industries in terms of the post-industrial zero-growth order handed down by the Committee of 300.

      Their final objective was the overthrow of the U.S. Constitution and the
      merging of this country, chosen by God as HIS country, with a godless One World-New World Order Government which will return the world to conditions far worse than existed in the Dark Ages. Let us talk about actual case histories, the attempt to communize and deindustrialize Italy.

      This called for an attack upon Christianity; the slow but sure disintegration of industrial nation states; the destruction of hundreds of millions of people, referred to by the Committee of 300 as “surplus population,” and the removal of any leader who dared to stand in the way of the Committee’s global planning to reach the foregoing objectives. Two of the Committee’s earliest targets were Italy and
      Pakistan.

      From the foregoing it becomes clear just how far ahead the conspirators plan. They do not think in terms of a Five Year Plan. One needs to go back to Weishaupt’s statements about the early Catholic Church to understand what was involved in the murder of Aldo Moro. Moro’s death removed the roadblocks to the plans to destabilize Italy, and as we now know, enabled conspiracy plans for the Middle East to be carried out in the Gulf War 14 years later.

      Italy was chosen as a test-target by the Committee of 300. Italy is important to the conspirators’ plans because it is the closest European country to the Middle East linked to Middle East economics and politics. It is also the home of the Catholic Church, which Weishaupt ordered destroyed, and home for some of Europe’s most powerful top oligarchical families of the ancient Black Nobility. Should Italy have been weakened by Moro’s death, it would have had repercussions in the Middle East which would have weakened U.S. influence in the region. Italy is important for another reason; it is a gateway for drugs entering Europe from Iran and Lebanon, and we shall return to that subject in due course.

      America’s “nobility” were doing their share to destroy the Republic of Italy, a notable contribution having come from Richard Gardner even while in his official capacity as President Carter’s ambassador to Rome. At that time Gardner was operating under the direct control of Bettino Craxi, an important member of the Club of Rome and a key man in NATO. Craxi was the leading edge of the conspirators’ attempts to destroy the Italian Republic. As we shall see, Craxi was almost successful in ruining Italy, and as the conspirators hierarchy’s leading player, was able to get divorce and abortion pushed through the Italian Parliament, resulting in the most far-reaching and destructive religious and social changes ever to strike at the Catholic Church, and consequently, the morals of the Italian nation.

      The Club of Rome has its own private intelligence agency and also “borrows” from David Rockefeller’s INTERPOL. Every U.S. intelligence agency cooperates very closely with it, as does the KGB and the Mossad. The only agency that remained beyond its reach was the East-German intelligence service. the STASSY. The Club of Rome also has its own highly organized political and economic agencies. It was they who told President Reagan to retain the services of Paul Volcker, yet another important Committee of 300 member. Volcker stayed on as Federal Reserve Board chairman, notwithstanding the faithful promise of candidate Reagan that he would dismiss him as soon as he, Reagan, was elected.

      Volcker’s economic and monetary policies were a reflection of those of Sir Geoffrey Howe, Chancellor of the exchequer and member of the Committee of 300. This serves to illustrate how Britain has controlled the United States, beginning from soon after the War of 1812, and continues to exercise control over this country through the policies of the Committee of 300.

        I have a college friend who has asked me to join COR for many years. I have basically ignored his requests but never really investigated was COR was. Over the years he has sent me videos of some of his meetings and presenters. A common theme is always the climate change and how it is destroying the world. I am a scientist and never bought what he was selling. I kept asking him embarrassing questions or presented contrarian FACTS which he would never respond to.

        You have opened my eyes to what his group is all about. I will continue my relationship with him but now more than before will double down on my responses to his climate and world control efforts. I love to use science to put down conspirators.

        They have/are definitely working every second of every day to kill us and take over everything. However, my goal is to move people into reversing their hold over us by first, encouraging people to stop parroting and believing in their plans for us and, second, to develop our own plans and an actual rebuttal to them and their plans for us.

        The question I’m asked over and over is, “How do we stop this nightmare from happening?” People feel like they have zero power, but we have all the power…if we take it…and, if we use it. Taking our power and using that power starts with us changing our thoughts, rejecting their plan for us, building our own plan, then doing our plan.

        We can do zero of this until we do step one…changing our thoughts/stop parroting and believing their plan for us. This will take a massive number of people, but there are billions of us and they know they cannot control us unless they kill us off.

  20. There is a clowder of cats roaming the neighborhood eating bunnies and road runners. Cats are apex predators, who hunt in packs in their natural undomesticated state.

    • Really? I’ve never seen a “pack” of cats but dogs on the other hand were the reason in times past surrounding ranches to our town simply couldn’t have livestock smaller than a cow on them – but the calves were always in danger. We’ve occasionally had a few cougars wander through many years ago but haven’t had a verified sighting or other evidence come up since perhaps the 70s, maybe. They were always solitary felines.

      • Many years ago I bought a John Deere Model 80 dump cart from a fellow who lived a few miles outside Jackson, Michigan (IIRC it was while Ted Nugent was still a deputy). When he came out to greet me, I noticed he (and his two sons, standing in the background) were all heeled. He asked me if I had a gun and I asked why (I was carrying at this time, but responded in the negative, because you never know when someone is going to rob you)? He motioned off toward the hill, a few hundred feet from his buildings, and said “Cougars. There’s several of them in the area, and sometimes we can see one of them lying on that ridge, watching the cattle. Stay close until we get you loaded up. When you leave, keep your windows up.

        Cats are solitary hunters, but IMO like coydogs, when they lose their fear of Man and dislike of man-smell, they become exceedingly dangerous…
