I’ll going out on a limb here and say farmers will scream for “Food Shortage Bailouts” this fall.
The first Farm Aid was 1985, almost 40 years ago. A human ‘generation’ is about 25 years, “from the birth of a parent to the birth of a child”. In those 40 years we went from “poor, bankrupted farmers” to “can’t feed the babies” and airlifts are required.
Government works for them. You have to admit, we need farmers. And we need babies. LOL
If you’re at Amtrak, government works. If you’re in the Ukraine, the U.S. gov works.

Clearly a reasonable cost is what gasoline cost in Venezuela, at least when you could buy it, which was about 27 cents a gallon as I best recall. Of course you can’t buy gasoline in Venezuela these days, something about a shortage because they dont’ bring in enough money to maintain and run the refineries, but that is just piddling stuff when it comes to “SAVE THE CHILDREN”
If we can afford to send Ukraine close to $50 Billion we can certainly afford to SAVE THE CHILDREN … by helping the farmers with their diesel costs.

What people forget is, they have to CARE (enough to do the footwork)
What we care about as a society has boiled down to simple-minded issues, while the important issues go untended to. Thus, we whine and gripe but don’t take any real action to change it. George, you’re absolutely correct.
Even our religion(s) have taught us to “let God take the wheel.” – when it’s really up to us to “seek and ye shall find.” – to do the footwork. We become too relaxed thinking salvation is coming while the waters rise, and fail to build the boat before the water rises too deep.

I’ve neither respect nor use for people who choose to not use these gifts, and I sure-as-hell don’t feel sorry for them when they drive themselves into the ditch of Life. Pull ’em out? Sure, but when I can get around to it, not when they demand I do so.
There may have been a more useful (gentler) way of saying exactly this.
We are all (as I have long held) just here as videographers of life. When people walk on to “our stage” *through their own errant ways* we have a right to continue filming our lives as we were.
If we choose to take a subject break – and do a “short feature
on the uninvited drop-in” then with Ray Directing, he’s intent enough on his own film that he doesn’t want or have time for extras. Some people will, many people won’t.
I personally could go either way – depending on mood – but most of the time I can already see a path to share and remain focused on it since wde never know when “the movie is over.”

There are those who would make features out of all intruders (and with respect, LOOB has this viewpoint). His going so far beyond “a hand up” is amazing.

We’re not sure how other readers will encapsulate their own Life film. I tried for the better part of one ready who drives big trucks, spends time with a princess, has been around the McCartney-Bezos world, yet he has a delightful second feature as good as his basic “game” film. And that’s where – purely out of awarness – and similar to LOOB – he offers a smoke, ride, or meal to one of his walk-ons.
This “film school paradigm” may end up as a book, one of these days. It provides a nonjudgmental framework.

Yes George, interesting I got thr flue again. I went to the VA again, to get covid tested because it’s a thing for work. This is the 4th time I have gotten sick. This is the 3rd time the VA said, you can not get Covid. I asked them why, they said it says right here in your medical record, “natral immunity” but we will give you a test for your work. Came back negative.
the first time I was sick I went to the Eisenhower Hospital in Rancho Mirage California. You had to call the CDC hotline before entering the ER. Some Russian accented voice lady asked me my birthday, social security number and blood type on the phone. I told her and she said, you don’t have Covid 19. I said how do you know I don’t have covid 19??? From my personal info??!!! She you can’t get it! Then hung up.
I got tested at the Bakersfield CA VA, they said I couldn’t get it as well, all off my personal info. Took a test. Came back negative. It trips me out. They put that shit out on the news.
The lady last night said go home and sleep, rest and you will be fine. You are probably working to much and are run down. Which I’m always working too much. LOL. I crashed out and slept 20 hours straight woke up feeling great.
Afa the other stuff. My life is so far base from the Norm of most peoples lives, strange occasions and occurances, quantum leaps, etc etc. Random wild interesting intersections, it feels like a movie. If I wrote a book? And told the truth about all the strange things that have happend. It would read more outlandish than anything most anything fictional out there. LOL. That is the truth.

Found alot of paper clips lately all over where I go. Paperclips are a symbol of “help is on the way” and lines converging and resistance to the Holocaust among other things. So there is that as well. That has been my experience in 8 of my 12 NDEs. I stopped have a review after NDE #9, because it was decided I could pass through and not return, but I came back for other reasons.
There no secrets over on the other side. There is no races of color. Everyone communicates via telepathy and shares everyone’s thoughts all at once. It’s much different than here in life.

the problem with that thought.. is you don’t really have the ability to save yourself.. take our engineer.. designed and overseen the building of deep water drilling platforms.. he had more credentials and pretty pieces of paper on the wall.. made lots of money.. had the position that all would be envious over.. then he got the one two punch of fate.. first was a hurricane that took out his home and way of life.. the insurance companies paid a penny on the dollar.. in his attempt to rebuild what he had lost.. there was a huge explosion and fire and horrific spill from a deep water platform.. Called in to answer questions on this horrific spill and fire and what went wrong.. he told the truth.. then was blackballed by the industry he loved and worked his whole life for.. he couldn’t get a job shoveling dog poop.. he was bitter and lost his family and was homeless.. got sick .. and then I came into the picture.. the wham bam of fate… unfortunately he couldn’t beat the image that he had as a failure.. which was very sad..
Then take my friend that just passed on.. his wife a nurse .. he had a farm a business and a retirement home.. she got cancer.. like so many big companies.. they let her go when she couldn’t do her job.. the end costs took his farm his retirement home and his business.. the one two fate..
MY .. event was a boss that bought into the stock market.. then the reagan recession.. a child had fallen from a tree and a branch was thrust through his body.. he had to have a surgeon flown in.. then spend a month in intensive care.. only to discover that the boss had used the funds that the employees were paying for healthcare insurance to invest in what he thought was a sure thing.. I couldn’t buy a roll of toilet paper on credit.. that has followed me all through my life.. even to this day there is only one banker that took a chance on me..
a waitress.. she works.. most of them only get a dollar or less an hour.. the girls at my favorite restaurant don’t get a wage.. their income is their tips… most are either college girls or single mothers..
the same for the hair salon.. those girls make tips.. that is their wage.. to offer a hand up.. is not a hand out.. and the look of gratitude when you hit it right.. is worth everything.. it has come back on me to..
a couple years ago.. we had a collapsed sewer line.. the cost was going to horrendous.. and I was terrified.. called a few people in to give me estimates.. and one of them.. had crossed my path years before that came to my rescue..

We have coddled those who come after us, to the point that they are so-shielded from everything in both the world and society, that they are incapable of seeing what’s real, and would not be able to cope with any form of adversity. They believe their “situation” or “experience” is unique, and therefore unfathomable to any who’re not “in the same situation.” (Why yes, I see the problem with that statement. It’s why kiddies get tattoos and piercings to express their uniqueness, by being just like everybody else…)
The “human car wreck” needs to realize and accept that THEY are the one who ditched their car, and they need to accept the responsibility and the ramifications of doing so, before they’re rescued, else they’ve learned nothing.
I’m not saying I would not be as helpful and altruistic as I possibly could. I’m just saying I would not do so until the victim of their own weakness or stupidity owned up to the fact they put themselves in that ditch. I’m also not saying I would not proffer immediate assistance to someone who ended up in the ditch through no fault of their own — because I have, and always would.
I’m saying you do a person a horrible disservice, when you rescue them from themselves, before they realize the cause of their malady or the error of their ways…

There again.. that is a yes and no.. yes we do want the best for our children.. and we give them the things we didn’t have..
But.. then you have to consider the plan @Ray… average pay around the wastelands is 12 dollars an hour.. 17 if you work for walmart.. Rent is basically 6.25 an hour.. daycare is three dollars an hour.. or more.. utilities is on the way up..
People don’t go looking for the good samaritan programs.. that were once designed to assist those in catastrophic situations.. the year we went without an income. we could not get any of them because we owned a better than ten year new car.. see you can sell your car and live off of what you get.. we also had a home.. and yes.. you can sell that to live off of what is made from it.. the base livable income for the good samaritan laws is basically the standard deduction divided by twelve.. if you make a dime over that.. you are not eligible to get them..

the idea the way i read it is to get the people dependent on social programs promote greed among the affluent.. then do a gun grab after that.. the leaders have the support of those in power to go after those that have.. taking the assets of the 29 percent and propel the one percent into the stratosphere..

take a neighbor of mine… He is a professional.. makes really good money.. but about a year ago they discovered he has bone cancer.. he is going through chemo radiation etc.. trying his damdest to keep his position and health insurance ..
the biggest fear is he will be loosing it real soon as his health deteriorates… his home and their belongings will be sold off to pay his expenses his wife has a job and will probably move into a small apartment..I was just visiting with the sister to my friend that just passed on.. the final expenses are better than two million and that doesn’t even take into account the labs and doctors visits etc… The elderly trying to live on less than a thousand dollars a month.. I have taken food over for many elderly because all they could afford is cat food and single women that were thrust out of work because of covid.. and even now that is out of their range….
My neighbors wife is terrified.. because this is all new water for them..
When we went through our year of no income a few years ago.. it was mostly because they wanted me off of their health plans.. the insurance companies did not want me on them.. it is the business model.. I was in a wheel chair yet.. and my wife even though showed a brave face.. would break down in tears late at night when she thought no one was watching.. the people we all seen as the ones to be by our side.. vanished.. like we had the plague.. your value is only when you can provide what they want.. NOW putting it all in GOD’s hands.. I would pray for guidance and his help.. no one was around.. to see our struggles.. because of the age.. there is a general discrimination .. and you are unemployable until you reach sixty five.. she is a professional.. but one day I get a card in the mail.. it was from someone I had not seen or heard from since he was eight years old.. learning to ride a bike.. his letter was.. during my morning prayers I keep seeing you.. in the envelope was a check .. it was just enough to get us through the year.. we had what twenty four cents left in the bank.. so was it an angel.. watching over us.. did our heavenly father see our need.. either way my prayer was answered..
because my wife has had a minor stroke in the past.. her healthcare insurance is almost as much as she makes.. she basically works for insurance.. this is quite common.. the teller at the bank after daycare and he transportation and insurance costs. makes two dollars a week.. she is only there working as a teller for the insurance..
in the end.. you leave with nothing.. you save money up.. but once your health is gone.. you loose it all.. the doctors will take it all.. if your lucky enough to end up in a nursing facility.. your expenses will be a quarter million a year per person.. if there are two of you.. that is a half million.. just shy that.. and that is if you don’t have any other expenses.. your allowed what is it a couple hundred a month for hair cuts and shampoo etc.. depends and personal items.. but that is it.. the rest is gone.. if you save it.. then it is gone to.. My mother still has a cd worth a few thousand at the bank.. to get it.. will cost more than what the cd is worth and then if you get it.. the govt gets it for what they paid for her care at the nursing facility.. its the business model.. drugs here are thousands of a percent more than in canada for an example.. even cheaper if you go to another country to get it..
and the federally owned hospitals.. like the VA healthcare system they are gone at three thirty.(their downfall and most healthcare facilities run short staffed regularly) . and federal holidays there isn’t a sole around…. a skeleton crew mans the hallways..
Hi, LOOB, I have heard, appreciated, and been saddened by your story.
But, it is not everyone’s story.
We took care of both of our parents at home until they passed.
We put a good care team in place, starting with family, the VA, Medicare, and helpers as we could afford them.
We had a station in the bedroom, bathroom, and living room (diapers, chucks, wipes, urinal, gloves, trash bags).
We had a porta potty in the living room.
The VA provided a walker, then an electric wheelchair, and electric bed (this is over a 10 year gentle decline period).
We had diapers, chucks, and gloves from the VA; we paid for the wipes.
The last 8 months of our Dad’s life, he was on a feeding tube, we got the stand, bags, and formula from the VA as well as all of his prescriptions. He also had a foley catheter. He had CHF, and Parkinson’s; he was total assist. We learned how to take excellent care of him from the top of his head to his tippy tip toes. He was examined many times in those 10 gentle decline years, and especially the last few years of his life, even to asking him to stick out his tongue, he was as beautiful as a shiny real copper penny.
Our Mother had Stage 4 Breast Cancer spread to the liver, lungs, and brain.
There are few other people that I have ever known with such sick parents that actually took care of them at home. It was an honor to care for them. My Dad spent the last 3 days of his life in the VA hospice program, we had him at home until then. The only reason I opted to move him to the VA hospice was that I did not think my siblings could handle watching our beloved Dad die at home as neither of them had been at the bedside of someone passing and I had. And I wanted the VA’s emotional/caring support, which we all got. As it was, he passed with most of his children by his side.
Yes, it was the toughest thing most of us had ever done, but we did not let the medical industry wipe out all that both of our parents (and my Mom’s parents) had worked so hard for.
We got a good lawyer. We kept all assets out of the will. The estate did NOT need to go to probate.
The house was sold to a brother; the funds were used to supplement paying for the care for our Dad until he passed.
Upon death, those proceeds paid all the remaining bills, and that included the funeral, which amounted to about $12,000. Which left plenty to be divided amongst the 9; which was my Dad’s dearest wish for his children.
The IRA’s, 401k’s, checking and saving accounts were kept out of probate. Because the house was sold already, it was not in play.
He left all of his 9 kids something.
My Mother left all of her 9 kids something.
We got the biggest blessing of all, to care for our parents and take pride in that care, when they could no longer care for themselves, just like they did for us when we could not care for ourselves. There’s nothing like sitting beside your parent and holding their hand, for example, the Parkinson’s took our Dad’s voice, so sitting holding hands, with us talking, and him using our agreed upon sign language, so he could say yes, no, and okay, or stop. We communicated together just fine. He loved seeing everyone and hearing about everyone’s lives. Both parents could still hear so phone calls were great for those that didn’t live close.
My Dad had Social Security, which we used each month, and a small VA pension of approximately $600 a month, the last 4 years of his life which we used to pay a family member for his care (the VA allows pensions to be used to pay family members); we used that each month, and tapped into his savings, which were modest, but with a good budget, and a firm hand, we made it 5 years after he broke his first hip with this plan; we only saw we would be short in the coming March, so in November, we sold his house to our brother not knowing that he would pass in January very fast from pancreatic cancer – from diagnosis to passing – two weeks. (He was due about $1,700 a month from the VA, but this is how the VA screws veterans, they are years behind, so every time you send them new paperwork, it could take over a year up to 2 years or longer to get the back check and for them to modify the pension. They NEVER ever modified or raised his initial pension. He died with the VA owing him $20,000. As soon as he died they stopped the claim; they do not pay estates. There is not one thing a family can do.
So, our Dad had a gentle 10 year decline; loved and watched over.
Our Mom passed much faster from diagnosis to passing, less than 3 years.
I just wanted to type all this to inspire others who may think they cannot do it, but they can. KEEP your parents at home with you, or keep them in their home.
I have now advised a few people on how to do this.
So, make a plan, modify as needed, you’d be surprised what you can do.
Medicare brings in a carer 3 days a week, for one hour, for shower/shave, dressing, and change the bed sheets.
We all loved our helpers, and they loved us.
Our Dad was dual assist, so we always helped with showers never leaving him alone with anyone ever, and always there to lend a hand. He enjoyed the ladies showering him with love.
Also, I have mentioned this many times:
Health Sharing Ministries. There is not one good reason for anyone in the USA to not have help with their medical bills.
1) Samaritan Ministries.
2) Medi-Share;
3) Liberty Health Share.
These are the 3 that I know about; I see that there are others added, but these are the ones with a lot of experience. These were exempted from the Obama Care Mandate when their was a penalty.

Many people don’t realize the amount of work involved to put up and maintain something like this. I believe the Peak Prosperity site is similar to what you are describing but the discussions ran off the rails at times and had way too many clickable links to other sites . And it was a bit pricey but that may be one way to keep only those truly interested around.

I believe it came from the Anastasia books out of Russia.
So, in the olden days, the Priests of Egypt time had slaves, and it was a lot of trouble, and hard work to hire slave masters, shackling, watching over, feeding, etc., those slaves.
One day, one of the slaves was overheard telling a fellow slave, hey, I see a way for us to break this chain and get out of here so that we can be free and work for ourselves, and make a life.

This is what the priest decided to do: FREE THE SLAVES. It was cheaper to free them, let them work for themselves pay all of their daily living expenses, room, board, etc., and he could lay off all those hired slave masters!!!

I do think that “the process” for immigration was generally OK until the turn of the millennium. Since then it’s been politicized to encourage those who can be easily influenced to vote “properly” after becoming citizens. The process to become a citizen after lawful entry is generally a five year process, with three years possible for fiance/marital visas and fast tracks for “victims of abuse” and a few others. I would propose that new citizens should have a ten year waiting period before they are eligible to vote, so as to become wise in what it means to be American. This would limit the utility of using new citizens to bias elections. Of course, this all requires that we follow the law and prove citizenship in order to vote. We also need to aggressively police ballots and prosecute election fraud with a vengeance. Today the election process is such a joke that well meaning citizens often refuse to participate since their vote is easily cancelled by Dominion or others who mishandle ballots. “2000 Mules” is well documented and shows only the tip of the iceberg.

SSRI’s have their place in the problem, but so do SNRI’s! These particular drugs can trigger feelings of anger and violence in susceptible individuals on their own. In the case of random shooters, especially the convicted ones, we really do need to have access to their medication records. I do believe that there’s more to this than just drugs, but we can’t draw intelligent conclusions without more information.

Biden, nor anyone else is gun grabbing…it’s telling that you compared traffic deaths to gun deaths…both are similar in death count…but how much higher would traffic related deaths be if there weren’t laws in place to prevent rampant blood baths on our highways and roads. Speed limits, signs, drunk driving laws, and testing of all kinds…In many states, you have restrictions for a year or more when you turn 16. We all have to retake the test and renew our licenses every 3-5 years…yeah…its a pain in the ass, but it saves lives and without them we feel safer when our own kids are on the road.
This is the only thing the people who fight the NRA want. Laws in place. For instance…in open carry states…common sense says if a open carry advocate wants to hang out at the bars, should he leave the gun at home? It seems to me that alcohol or any controlled substance and guns is not a great mix…just like getting in a car after leaving a half off happy hour isn’t a good idea. There are laws and severe consequences preventing the latter and…while there are still idiots out there that think they are above the law…the fact that the law is place does prevent traffic deaths.
Those laws should apply to guns…there were more than 45,000 deaths caused by guns last year…many by suicide…which brings up mental health…Should a person who has a mental disability be allowed to purchase a gun? People with multiple DUI’s can’t get a drivers license…kind of the same thing right? Should a gun owner have firearm insurance to protect against accidents? Should all gun owners like myself take a gun safety test and be tested for blood alcohol/drug tested when carrying a gun? We have to go through that process with cars and the occasional traffic checkpoints during New Years, Cinco de Mayo, St Patty’s Day and other drunken fests.
The democrats don’t want to take away your guns…Case in point..California has the highest gun ownership in the country by a long shot…We also are the best place in the world to hunt…No coincidence. Listen, gun laws won’t prevent all crazies from shooting one another…just like driving laws don’t prevent all drunken, texting and other car deaths…but it does prevent a huge percentage if there were no accountability at all. I would be satisfied if the gun deaths went down from 45,000 to 35,000. Because over time, as the laws become more consequential and ingrained in our system, the numbers will continue to go down…
So please stop the hysteria about taking away your guns. That’s the fringe talking…Nobody takes them seriously except the fringe on the other side. The overwhelming majority of us just want sensible accountability…that includes the mental health of anyone and the access to any substance from alcohol to depression related drugs.

As for gun ownership and most mass shootings … a large part of the current problem, vast majority in fact, imo can be traced to our near complete dismantling of the Mental Health System in the United States starting in the 1960’s. Some states did a great job before then, some terrible (southern states were known to overall do a terrible job though there were some gold stars in there too), but ALL ended up cutting their mental health help quite dramatically because they came to believe the marketing hype that the “new drugs” were “so effective”.
Voila, people with real mental problems could get drugs, but couldn’t be seen regularly by people who worked in the field since the entire system was downsized so much.
As a result people with REAL mental health problems aren’t even noticed any more for the most part, particularly those of the younger cohort class, and even if noticed there is NO ROOM to institutionalize them for even an evaluation. Since there is “No Room At The Inn”, which makes it almost impossible for them to get serious treatment, most people who do notice them don’t even bother to report them anymore … and anyway to WHOM would they report them? The police? (common police department complaint anymore is that they are now supposed to not just be police but mental health professionals – something that in my state at least didn’t happen back in the 50’s and 60’s when every county and city had ACTIVE mental health departments).
The issue is really a Mental Health issue and the failure of government to adequately fund the Mental Health departments anymore where problem could be spotted and dealt with early. Ever since the Mental Health institutions were mostly closed down governments in the United States have NOT wanted anything to do with that aspect of being a government, mental health care, even though in the US the government was deeply involved in that dynamic of life from the mid 1800’s to the mid 1950’s, and at least here in the industrial part of the Midwest and reportedly in the NE did a very credible job.
(obviously in the above I am talking about the “mass shooters” not the shooters of the everyday kind on the streets who engage in gunfights and use of guns weekly in most of the big cities in the US – generally in the poorer parts of town – crime /gangs /drugs dynamics)

( yup pain relievers don’t work the same way if your in pain and is also why people overdose and get addicted to oppioids.. they should be using more non caustic and beneficial pain releivers for long term pain management .. but they don’t because a democrats in congress won’t allow it to.. leaving the doctors with only more caustic and addictive opium based narcotics to choose from.. ) you would have to baby sit them or could use restraints like a seat belt or tray table, lap buddy wrist restraints to keep their hands away from a wound etc…. then they passed HIPPA.. now you cannot take the patient with you as your shadow and you cannot use chemical methods to alter their abnormal behaviors..since they work short shiffed there isn’t staff enough to have a personal attendant … they totally done away with things like the Trapeze so the patient can reposition themselves..Bed side rails.. so they don’t fall on the floor… like one patient we had before all of this came about went septic with MRSA after a surgical procedure and would rip their intestines out and throw them on the floor..at that time we would use restraints to keep the patients hands away from the surgical incision. You can’t do that anymore… then the lap buddies tray tables , seat belts etc etc.etc.. and each year.. it gets a little bit more inclusive on what you cannot use so the patient can be protected..

I was listening to some statistics yesterday, that mentioned guns were used something like 1.2 million times per year in self defense. It is easy to see without weapons and the ability to get them quickly, the strong and the criminal will come to dominate the week. Any law you try to put in that has some criteria that cannot be evaluated equally like age, or criminal history, will be abused by politicians. I will be declared mentally unfit because I believe women don’t have a penis. The number of deaths is tragic, but you don’t have to look far to see the millions of tragic deaths that results in unarmed populations that government causes. The right to be armed is a human right. We as humans have the right just by existing to protect ourselves from others and government abuse.
Probably the school was a gun free zone, murder is already illegal, what make you believe more laws will stop crazy people from being crazy. A poor young woman wanting to protect herself from a crazed ex boyfriend probably cannot afford insurance to cover a firearm. What would she do? Should she have to take a 4 week firearms safety course, while fearing for her life each day? I am unwilling to take her options away because other bad things may happen.

If I cannot acquire a weapon to protect myself when I need it, what does it matter they are not trying to take away other peoples guns? I am sure some folks may not be dead from some of the riots in 2020 had they been able to arm themselves, but also perhaps more criminals might have been injured. It is easy for those of privilege to say I feel safe and don’t need or might not need rapid access to a firearm for protection. But others live in an unsafe world, where if you don’t protect yourself, no one else will. We are also the script writers of life… the directors… producers… editors… actors… viewers… and critics of the Whole Thing. We do it ALL.
We choose the camera angles. We choose what to film. We choose what NOT to film. We ascribe the meanings and the context and the subtext. We choose the plot. We choose who we want (and don’t want) in the production. We choose what to emphasize and what to down-play. We choose the points of conflict and tension.
And then, we write the ending. Happy or otherwise. We do it all.
And when our Earthly days are over… that particular film we just made is in our film can and has been uploaded to the fullness of Universal Consciousness. Available for us or anyone else to download from That Library to watch and re-watch is we choose.
And, we can just move on and begin to write another production. With an unlimited budget and all the time in the World to complete our next masterpiece. Or, our next horror story.

It was a great column today! I’m surprised that you were able to capture that domain name – I figured it would have been long gone. It’s a bit polarizing though – for better or worse. I do like the idea of it being centrist. I’m centrist/libertarian myself. The idea of a simple, gloriously boring and predictable format such as GLP has is great! No eye fatigue from blobby animations in unpredictable places, and super fast response times too.
One thing I find to be of concern is the “real name” part. I avoid participation in many activities that require my “real name” since I’m quite aware of what data aggregators do. “2000 Mules” showed a tip of that iceberg! I post here as I do respecting the site and respecting George’s integrity as far as keeping the subscriber list private. Open posting under a “real name” is as problematic as providing voter names and addresses to political parties and random activists. I don’t wish to be a public person and have no Facebook account. I never did. I also have no Twitter, Instagram, or even “dating” site accounts since they all require “real names” and age, if not DOB. The aggregators love this! There may be a way to have accountability while not displaying any personally identifiable information. This is really important – people often want to be known in their community, but not much beyond that. In particular, they don’t want some random person in a foreign country to be able to find out all about them with a few keystrokes. We’ll probably never be safe from Provo, but we should be safe from the average person or corporation with a limited budget for snooping.

On a different subject, Colored Lines Matter! While the dark image charts the other day were easy on the eyes, it was near impossible to see which line went which way when they crossed. Just my opinion.

I’d suggest posters be required to use their real name and permanent E-Mail address for registration, then REQUIRED to create an online pseudonym (perhaps a 6-7 digit random number) and a mail-drop at a free, secure E-Mail site like Mailfence or Guerrillamail for user communication. I know you’ll argue with me over this, but I can think of no other way to provide one’s actual identity to the Admin, without also providing it to Provo. I’ve been to Shelbyville, although it’s been years — Never realized the town was on anyone’s radar as a testbed.
Funny, I remembered this was a school in Indiana, but for some reason I thought the school district began with a “V…” The clip I saw, years ago, showed attendees at a football game, going through a portable, low-intensity scanner, which stuck in my brain because Indiana is a basketball State.

I’m convinced that we need to re-examine the idea that putting hundreds of age segregated kids in a large institution and regimenting/indoctrinating them for most of the year according to agendas from various “educational” bureaucracies makes any sense at all! The kids may or may not learn what’s being taught, but they also learn that there’s really no safe space from gangs, and that if you don’t hang with a group of “friends”, you are an outcast. Outcasts get bullied on or off school grounds and may react in unpredictable ways. The schools have no idea what real bullying is – it can result in being physically maimed for life, or even dead. Facebook “bullying” is bullshit.
Small, local schools are inefficient regarding deemed services, but they are far more helpful in actually teaching cooperation, empathy, consideration, and other “soft skills” that are so valued these days. The large institutional school is as impersonal as hospitals or jails. Large schools cater to competition both scholastically and athletically. I wonder how much of this is for the kids and how much is for the parents. It teaches winning at all costs, regardless of damage to others. Technical security is a poor second to actual caring and observation by all.
