We’ve been here before, right? A kind of sick mash-up of the Spanish Flu, replayed in the long wave econ cycles as Covid, this time around. And the arrival of trench warfare in Europe (again) seems likely this month. Because the U.S. is trying to goad Russia into first use of nuclear weapons.
We can safely predict (as NATO meets) that chemical munitions will be the next logical escalation since the U.S. (specifically, the guy I didn’t vote for) has put America’s name on larger war. War that our neocons (nowadays neolibs) are stunningly anxious for.
Because the neolibs know that in the Other War – the one for the destruction of EITHER Iran or Israel (*and likely both) m- the Russians need to toss the “first nuke” so Israel can use the bunker -buster nukes required to take down the Iranian weapons program.
Not that they haven’t been trying to put speed bumps in the way. You do remember Stuxnet, we trust.
So that’s the playing field. Almost.

Mapping Probable Future
Looking at the chart above, you can see the path of the pre-Depression Dow Jones Industrial Average. And our Aggregate seems to be pointing to a period of “hard down” to come. A really, really hard, hard down. Like markets less than half present levels before Thanksgiving this year.
If you want to look up all of our references to the timing of Av 9 – coincident to all this – go read some of our posts where it was covered. Just remember, Chris Tyreman’s reminder that “modern” Av 9 is July 27. But by the “old” method it falls on July 29. Tyreman knowns a lot about such things.
Regardless of the exact minute “it hits the fan” we can sort of make out where probable futures lead. Using Elliott wave counts and trend channels.
Using this as a ‘probability map’ of future? We can waffle a bit this week. But once we break the bottom of the blue trend channel, the next “prayer bounce” will be the top of the green trend channel, the dashed green, until – as early as the month’s end, we break out the “bottom of 2” and you’ll begin to see the world really collapsing around you.
There are a number of “economic events” that will feed in here, as well. So keep an eye on some of these:
- Today and tomorrow, we could see another 2-5 hours down in the market. Perhaps, though, an early “turnaround Tuesday” rally into tomorrow’s close.
- Wednesday the inflation numbers land. Already “the buzz” is buzzing. We think the inflation rate will be higher because some of the artificial declines in energy prices should firm. And we’d expect the unexpected. Like the Fed core rate (all items less food and energy) still running 5.3 – might actually go up to 5.4 (and even higher).
- With this, the market collapsing mid-week, seems likely to us.
- And on the 1929 replay chart, you can see where this begins really probably. Fed will raise much more than expected – and this in economic terms will complete the Fed’s “boner for brains” ideas which will echo the same stupid Fed that botched rates in (summer) 1930 and locked in the Great Depression.
- So, in the Wednesday CPI report, prices zoom up. We think.
- Next week Friday is options expiry.
- The week following that, the Housing Prices come out Tuesday the 25th and then the Fed rate announcement on the 26th. I figure it for half a point. Even a possible three-quarters!
- After which (three weeks from this Friday) we should see – in the Elliot chart – breaking the bottom of the green trend channel.
THIS IS NOT ADVICE. When you invest from fear you have a much higher risk of loss.
End of the Month Bets
Our consigliere called in from one of the great lakes marinas this weekend.
I told him that during the last Options cycle, the Aggregate closed at 37,708.13. As of pre-opening prices today? 37,360.97. He reminded me that although I may see the future, my timing can be improved upon. One of his frequent reminders is “You’re too early on your nuke timing.”
So, how does this sound for the month end?
- The cluster bombs (artillery shell delivery) show up in Ukraine and NATO lobs these into Russian-held territory.
- (Our view is this is NATO’s war, when you get right down to it. Biden arrives in Britain ahead of NATO summit, Finland visit. Perhaps, that last stop indicates something. “Finnish”?)
- As soon as clusters are confirmed, Russia will then respond with their next step up in the fighting. One of the lighter chemical munitions.

Escalation Pathing Clarifies
The one thing that will become clear in the next month will be Russia will likely let loose basic chemical weapons. The West, not realizing there are still pockets of mental acuity left, will doctrinize that CBN weapons are of only one type. The public lumps it all.

Prices zoom up is a reference to the CPI report. Gasoline was $3.589 a month ago, and today it was $3.543. Much of the contained CPI has been falling energy prices. I’m thinking that’s coming to an end.

A long while back I made an analogy of our current global situation to the sound of rough water approaching when you’re kayaking. That sound is now deafening.
The West’s star is sinking through insanity and mismanagement while the BRICS’ star is rising. We’re really kind of blessed in a sick sort of way because we’re witnessing a major course change in human history. The collective West is in a situation in every single department…financially, politically, militarily and culturally…that cannot be sustained and the only way out is through severe pain. The current state of the country and the escapades of NATO over the last 20 years bring into sharp focus our inability to do anything substantial and our inherent weakness.
The emperor has no clothes and everybody sees it. The world knows that the U.S.-led rules based order was just a fancy name for being a bunch murderous assholes. The real reason is that for the last 60 years we’ve been busy bombing or overthrowing every country that had something that we wanted and wouldn’t just hand it over. SOME people would believe that an enemy would blow up a nuclear plant or hydroelectric dam in territory that they already held, but most people wouldn’t. Those who believe such nonsense are people who are also probably confused about which genitalia goes where.

We were all told to keep quiet so the Government could take a bow first, but CBS Ect. has run it so I can speak.

Have to totally DISAGREE with George’s analysis that Russia will turn to Chemical Weapons once Ukraine uses Cluster Artillery Rounds. Russia HAS SIGNED the Chemical Warfare treaties and will (imo) be loath to break those treaties FIRST, at least at this point in time.
Biden himself said we were out of extra Artillery Rounds to send to Ukraine, which is one reason why we are going to be sending Cluster Rounds. GUESS WHAT? If Russia is beating the pants off of Ukraine with REGULAR Artillery Rounds (some reports put it at an 8:1 to 10: 1 firing rate) don’t you think they also have massise stocks of their own Cluster Rounds? I sure do.
I look for Russia to dig into what I suspect are their massive piles of Cluster Rounds and start firing them at the same 8:1 to 10:1 rate right back at the Ukrainians that they are firing regular Artillery Rounds at. To my untrained in warfare brain I would think those trying to move offensively are MUCH MORE EXPOSED to cluster munitions than those who are dug in.
Instead of needing a direct hit on an artillery battery to put it out of action, a few “close” cluster munitions would make it difficult for the crew to move around to load and fire such a weapon. Ditto with men moving on foot or in unarmored vehicles.
The entire use by the US/Nato/Ukraine of Cluster Munitions seems to be under the assumption that if “WE” do it then the Russians will NOT DO IT BACK AT US. Fautly logic in the extreme imo.
Will have to see how it really plays out but so far, from the outside, it doesn’t look like the Ukrainian Offensive is going according to plan. LOTS Of Ukrainians dying … for not much territory being gained. (maybe that is one of the points? … depopulate the male population of Ukraine so more European women are available for other Europeans to breed with?)
in my several decades of working emergency services as an auxiliary support guy (communications & tech),
I’ve noticed that Large Emergencies sometimes happen extremely suddenly — with little to no warning; or they happen much more slowly than you might expect from what warnings and predictions you do have. Weeks or even months — or longer — in some cases.
I’ve also noticed that most Large Emergencies take a LOT longer to resolve than one would think (or hope) — a certain deep fatigue and impatience setting in after a while, and making the whole enchilada even more unpleasant and agonizing.
Additionally — and worst of all to my mind — is that most Large Emergencies begin, get worse, GET EVEN MUCH WORSE — and then continue to get worse LONG before anybody notices any improvement at all. (Slow to “turn the corner.”)
Nerves fray: good people begin to infight: and no end seems in sight. Morale becomes a big problem.
Plan and allow for these effects.
Detailed emergency plans are worthwhile, as they focus thinking and identify areas for action and prep. Just recognize once “the shooting starts” you will have overlooked a LOT, and that plan may be generally informative, but will need a lot of “on-the-fly” flexibility and adaptation.
Good points! I was in NY state when 911 happened. I woke up to blue skies and a TV full of burning towers. I could look down the river and see the plumes of smoke.
The previous evening I’d picked up a visitor from Japan! We were planning to visit NYC that day, including seeing the twin towers. Instead, I figured I could be of assistance and tried to get there. I had to pass FIVE roadblocks, some state police, some NYC, and some National Guard before I got downtown. Even though there was a call for volunteers, there was no need or desire for anyone other than pre-vetted people.
If a big, bad event such as 911 happens, plan on being stuck where you are, or moving with extreme care. If you have as much as an unpaid speeding ticket, you might get flagged at a roadblock. Don’t carry anything suspicious – and that could be as little as prepping supplies in the trunk. Your car WILL be searched, even if it’s a casual search. A month later in an upstate NY forest, there was a surprise roadblock! While I had no problems, there could be serious misunderstandings. Everyone was on edge. A rogue street party at night in NYC was converged on by lots of police and multiple helicopters! It was shut down, though that party was never bothered before. If you’ll be traveling interstate or at all, have papers in order and a good reason that you need to be going where you’re going. Appear normal and act like a careful and prudent citizen.
Even years later, there were roadblocks and searches in each direction on approach to the Hoover Dam. They were courteous, but deadly serious.

Interesting week here at the house. I live next to French Valley Airport, the view from my living room window looks over the runway. Tuesday at 2pm a small Cessna went down killing the pilot and badly injuring his 3 sons. Saturday at 4.30am a Cessna business jet crashed in a field 400 ft short of the runway killing all 6 aboard. Pilot and copilot were found 200 ft from the wreckage
on the highway along with one passenger, the 2 pilots were still strapped in their seats. Heavy fog Saturday morning would mean the jet was making a instrument landing. The field where it crashed is about 50 feet lower in elevation than the runway, maybe a problem with his altimeter. Those 2 crashes are about 1500 yards apart and my house is exactly between the two crash sites. Haven’t had a plane crash at this airport in the 15 years I’ve lived here. Can’t decide weather I need to move or I’m good for the next 15 years.
