A Senior View of Diets

Mediterranean? Keto? Paleo?  Bewildering choices, We have a few ideas.  Which is well-timed since right after this morning’s post, Elaine and I go in for fasting blood draws.

Key to us is the idea of “instrumentation” of senior health. In addition to the electronics of aging – a recording pulse-ox, CPAP data software, and a BP cuff, we add even more science to health monitoring this week.

Meanwhile, in the markets, we are back to looking “toppy” with a hard break up – or down – expected as immediate future resolves issues like use of nukes and budget loggerheads.

Plus the ChartPack.,  So let’s roll-em up, make a fist, and see what the numbers are telling us about your health – financial and biological.

  1. As for diet, my 60 year old body has responded well to intermittent fasting 5 days a week. Monday through Friday I have a light heavy protein snack when I awake in the morning about 4:30 am, and then eat again between 4 pm and 6 pm. Have gotten my numbers in the good range for the first time since adulthood. And lost 20 lbs of that thoracic gut fat!

  2. El señor senior:

Enjoyed the subscriber side notes, as always, especially fresh charts, as always. “Stupider by the day” about says it. When some challenge charting I axe how they can make sense of fundamentals? When both align it’s a pay day.

irt: charts: a failed 5th would fit and is high probability IMO. Add in that failed pattern would include a double top. The 2/2 SPX high at 4,195 (call it 4,200 if using a crayon instead of fine point) was echoed on 5/1 at 4,186. A double top until it’s not.

Fundamentals? Let’s say we _do_ come to agreement and increase the debt ceiling. If we are tight-walking a line at $31.4T and agree (not) to another $1.5T that gets us to an alarming size nummer:

    $33,000,000,000,000

33 and 12 zeros. Marvelous. Would this be cause to celebrate? Rally?

      • Wait is there a East Coast subscriber, who owns unimproved land ON Lake Winnsboro,TX ?

        Si

      • George,

Yep, lots of boats. We are both sailors Sir. There is brightwork on 2:3 sailboats. Then we have a couple kayaks and a pontoon boat (lake std). Used to have a rockin’ power boat too but I’m done with go-boats. Tomorrow I splash (2) more boats then gear up for the big girl (E Scow).

We are not on a big lake (for that I can pop over to Great Lake Michigan in < an hour. 'Spose it's roughly 300 acres surface and, we are very deep. Err, the lake is anyway. So, though smaller than some neighbors we have more water!

Ms. Mkt. decided to celebrate probable debt increase?
It's not to be celebrated, hey? Only in 'Merica.

  3. Food ? that crap just weighs you down and ‘ages”, but Qi will give you wings!

Lets think about BIGU, have you ever heard of such a state of existence?

I can share that NRG levels you experience when in BIGU, are indescribable, really dont have words to adequately describe.

Unfortunately for uninitiated, a Master is needed/required to assist the practitioner in managing the elevated levels of super refined Qi.
I can personally attest to the reality of the BIGU state, and all attendant increase in NRGs.
Going thru the above process forces the entity into understanding most foods stuffs in todays modern diet – take more from U, than they give.

    • Sunlight and fresh air are definitely a plus, though low humidity helps too. Sleeping in pitch black darkness matters.

There are many ways to encourage/enhance Chi/Qi/Orgone or other names for “bioetheric” energy. I only know a bit about this and definitely am interested in more “when I have spare time”. For now, it’s Spring and time to work outside as much as possible before the rain. I have noticed as age advances that it’s helpful to take breaks and balance a bit of sitting with a lot of real work. Chopping down my jungle here is real work, but the results are pleasant to see.

  4. Thank you for your column this morning George. We continue to learn. I want to add to my previous recommendation about collagen for hand osteoarthritis.

I have gone from extreme hand pain late last year to minimal pain at present after introducing collagen into my diet. I take 15 grams per unflavoured collagen powder daily in my afternoon tea. I have been able to abandon the necessity of CBD oil, Tylenol arthritis and Voltaren topical. Money saved put towards collagen.

Your article this morning on collagen was interesting in confirming the osteoarthritis benefit but also reminded me that I have dropped 10 pounds in weight since starting the collagen last fall. My diet is about the same.

I realize there is an added benefit to your PN subscribers in reading articles from your paid site but perhaps you can provide the website for the collagen article here for Urban readers. It may help others with the pain of aging.

Thanks again for helping keep this 81 year old body in reasonably good health.

    Bob In Canada

P.S. I have no conflict of interest and do not own a collagen producing company. Also, this is not medical advice. You should always advise your doctor of any changes to your medications or supplements. I do.

    • Great info! Worth trying. It actually makes sense from a connective tissue perspective. Since the weather broke, I’ve been doing a lot more work with my right hand and wrist, and I can feel the beginnings of arthritis pain. No point in letting it get worse than necessary, and not working with tools ain’t happening.

    • “… fuels will be heated to more than 100 million Celsius in special chambers.”
      – That is an incredible number. Roughly 180,000,000 degrees Fahrenheit. The core temperature of the Sun is roughly 27million degrees. That’ll toast your marshmallow. Sure like to see one of those chambers.

  5. +/- 12.1% WTF ! Seeing this more and more. Kind of makes the whole damn research useless.

  6. Did a modified Keto diet [ modified for those over 65] did it on-line as the pandemic was in full swing. 12 people signed up the same day I did, to get the recipes, tips & tricks.., sort of a group-hug kind of thing, which I didn’t need / want. At the end of 60 days, 11 of the group had lost and average of 16 pounds.., me, the 12th Man., I gained 3 pounds.
    – Guess I need a “very” modified diet.

  7. Was all set to trade/bet this morning then, for some reason, decided not to. I figured there would be a small dead-cat bounce at the open, then within an hour or so, reverse and start heading back down. The DJIA is up over 200 points.
    – Sometimes, a gut feeling out-weighs the math.
    – Now looking at Friday

  8. I should point out, that whatever diet, if you are in a caloric deficit for more than two weeks in a row, your body will then begin to burn 265 calories less from that point on, so switch it up a bit. Have a deficit day, then a normal one to prevent this.

  9. I’m not vegan, but am vegetarian. I’ve been that way for the last 33 years and am generally healthy. I don’t use CPAP or pay particular attention to numbers I can’t reasonably change, but I do pay a lot of attention to feelings, cravings, and my own internal state.

The girl mentioned in the vegan article apparently had no understanding of essential nutrients, especially Vit B12, and vitamins generally. She didn’t mention what she ate, just what she didn’t. Some people may be obligate carnivores. Most of us are not, though having dairy and eggs in a vegetarian diet can make a whole lot of difference. I tried vegan in the beginning and it was obviously not for me, but I don’t need meat at all and choose to avoid it. So far, so good. Mushrooms are good though, and some will even give you insights.

    • I was thinking about inflation in terms of automobiles.

Think about the 2008 automobile bailouts. Up until 2008 the automobile makers were undercharging for their products, thus the bailouts. They subsidized the consumers for about 100 years. GM inc’ed 1908.

Same with Sears undercharging us. They sacrificed their pension plan contribution to bring us low prices. It didn’t work but…. we had to bail them but it looked good at the time.

  11. “Bitcoin gets a vote of confidence as a “long-term store of value” as Tether says it will buy more of the crypto to back its stablecoin.”
    – and another, usually wrong billionaire., says he will be buying $10 million a month in Bitcoin.
Since those announcements this morning, Bitcoin has dropped roughly $100 and is now below $27,000

  12. Some — ok, “many” — years ago, I was a snot-nosed ham Novice, and electro-kidd working my summers at The New England Institute For Medical Research. (The Good Doctors were woefully unable to solder-up connectors, or fix anything technical.)

While there — circa early 1970s — I learned that coffee (1-2 cups a day) was VERY good for you; and that “Squalene” — shark liver oil — contained an interesting compound that vastly enhanced the body’s immune system. That compound is now called CoEnzyne Q-10, or simply, Q-10.

    Great stuff.

One of the doctors was an Asian guy, who said often, “The body knows HOW to heal itself, and it WILL heal itself, given what it needs nutritionally, and freed of systemic poisons such as nicotine.”

    • ” (The Good Doctors were woefully unable to solder-up connectors, or fix anything technical.)”
Yep. My one time hospitalist Dr. asked what I did for occupation. “TV Broadcast Engineer. I build and fix TV stations, right down to the electronics”. She stared at me for a moment and said “That electronics stuff is HARD! I found it easier to be a Doctor!”

    • Edgar Cayce said that black coffee was a food.

Adding anything to the coffee changes that.

  13. Job numbers – from a different view.
AI and machine learning specialist is projected to be the number one growth job over the next five years – according to a survey of 803 corporations around the world.
Sustainability specialists ranked No. 2 [ gotta keep those supply chains up and running] and Business Intelligence Analysts ranked No. 3 [ Would that include industrial spying and counter-intelligence?]
Robotics/Integration was forth. [ Integrating with AI and Machine learning.?]
The survey also stated that these corporations expect structural job growth of 69 million jobs, but an overall decline of 83 million jobs. A net loss of 14 million jobs over the next five years. Most of these 14 million job losses will be due to: “Antiquated systems.”

    • Sustainability Specialists are Job Killers, and people killers via their platform of global warming; they are already so infested in the Western Civilization countries. They are shutting down oil, gas, farming, animal raised for food, etc.

They are behind the 15 minute cities.

They are behind the electric vehicle agenda.

They are behind the alternative fuel agenda.

They are behind the trans agenda.

They are behind the depopulation agenda.

Nothing has changed for these Sustainability Specialists except more funding and more destruction to come.

They own the banking system, the media, the medical care system (see how they are destroying the NHS?), the supply system, the pharmaceutical company agenda, and they are actively shutting the supply system down, and that includes the transportation system by introducing non-sustainability into it.

These projected job losses are right in line with their WEF agenda, that you will own nothing and you will be happy.

How are you going to pay for anything if you don’t have a job?

Why do you need a secondary site for your bloviating? You do a regularly scheduled scapegoating and villifying of govt and Democrats on your main site.

    • “C” Here’s a question for you: Why do *you* continue to think that anyone around here gives two hoops of rolling excrement for your own jejune yammerings? In light of the thundering silence that greets each of your attacks on George (in particular and conservatives in general), your continued posting of codswallop here is puzzling? Being a summarily dismissed, figure of fun can’t be all that rewarding for you. Were you given George’s forum to plague when the lefty troll assignments were handed out by the DNC, one wonders?

  16. It’s been a long time since I watched any of Monkey’s videos. One thing stands out that he’s been concerned about is the very intense LIDAR surveys that are being carried out from Michigan across to Maine and down the coast to Florida earlier this week. In the video of the 15th he shows that West coast cities are now being mapped intensely as well as some cities in Denmark, Sweden and Australia. Monkey, of course, doesn’t have a clue about why this is going on but I share his feelings about this not being something good.

    • Ah, another thread in which I can insert this:

Kinda makes a body wonder about the 50,000 or so PLA SpcOps that’ve wandered into the country and disappeared since the Creeper opened the border, now don’t it…?

  17. George,
Do the charts get affected by changes to the population? I’m sure you’ve seen the articles suggesting that the population may have dropped 10% in the past couple years. Most economies/greed depends heavily upon a rising population. But if we factor in population drop, could the economy actually be doing swell?

  18. Re: “Senior Health”
feat. Tower of Babble jenga ed.

    Folks,

VP Harris delivered a cogent 20 minute speech on Tuesday at a DNC women-power Emilys List National Gala honoring their board president and outgoing House Speaker Pelosi. The official White House schedule records that the President made an “unscheduled” visit to the event during which time his 4 minutes of remarks were assigned to the White House archives. Peppered with lovable Bidenisms, the best was saved for last. “Thank you, everybody, for letting me (gate)crash”. He then passed the microphone reins over to Mrs. Pelosi. UK msm had a field day seguing to a report on a shirt-tailed First Son in dressage rehearsal reining in his lightly clad companion by her mane of hair.
