The Future, Repeated, Anti-Aging Weekend

Although stock futures (early) showed the S&P down 10 and the Dow down 50-ish, we published our expectations Thursday morning and they really haven’t changed.

“What we might see – and some of this has to do with Options mechanics – might be a decline today and a rally Friday.  Our Peoplenomics subscribers will see the set-up here at a glance.  Once we break to the downside below a supporting trend line, there is often (but not always) a decline under trend (which we will look for today). (Check!)

The “Rally to kiss the underside of Trend” would then be along, perhaps tomorrow?  Which would then set up a potential free-falling safe move next week as a new – and likely declining – trend asserts itself.”

The way markets work is that period (violent) rallies are used by the Strong Hands to run little guys out of the market.  This allows the Strong Hands plenty of opportunity to “sell at the top.”

With the SpaceX blow, the “candle in the wind” we’re watching is the Nostradamus decline “April to March” which has an increasing odor of sage warning.  A weather eye on G.A. Stewart’s site and timing of his newest book is high on our list of must-do’s in this period.

Which all rolls up in a neat little ball today:  Sure, backing and filling is likely early, but a good “running of the shorts” rally into today’s close would STILL not surprise us in the least.

The change-point would be a strong move below the 4,114 level on the S&P – yesterday’s low – would change our outlook.

For now?

Normal Persists

“Corded power tools.”

The term, delivered in the same way the line “…plastics…” was delivered in the 1976 movie The Graduate, is one useful thinking point for the weekend.

You see, virtually all of the small power tools used by tradesmen in America employ Chinese-made lithium batteries as their power source.  Sure, Japan and South Korea contribute SOME, but what are the potential national resilience impacts of a loss of Taiwan and sanctions on goods from China.

I’m working on a very interesting article for the Peoplenomics side of the house next week.  Focus is on such knock-on effects.

Which are already changing our thinking on power tools.  Off in the direction of extension cords and corded tools. Because in a post-shift Chinese dominated world, something as simple as “controlling batteries” becomes a simple way to yoke an otherwise difficult adversary.  At least, I HOPE we will prove difficult!

The good news is Energizer and Duracell alkaline batteries are made in the USA so at least our remotes will keep working.  Yes, Costco’s Kirkland brand is made by Duracell under a private label deal.

This impact of convenience will be covered in my book “The 100-year Toaster” which I’m grinding on as time allows.

Pretend This is News

Let’s see:  Musk blows up $3 billion on the rocket and now his Twitter deal is under fresh attack.  Twitter’s legacy check mark removal hits celebrities, reporters and even the pope.  We’re not sure what the implications of an “unverified Pope” are.

Checking the fact-checker’s “facts”.  We are not surprised that Facebook labels Seymour Hersh’s reporting ‘false’ — RT World News.  Line up the data points this way:  Hersch outed the U.S. calling the shots on blowing the Nordstream gas pipelines.  Which we knew anyway from the 10-minute PM (Ms. Truss) let leak “it’s done.”  Now, FB is dissing Hersch (which of course Ukraine “fact checkers” would, but jury’s out on the Norwegian angle). And reported in a Russia-leaning media outlet.  God, this is getting convoluted, ain’t it?  But, you see, that’s the point when the government gets caught lying.  Problem is which one(s) are the liars.  (Correct Ans: All of ’em!!!)

Still trying to piss-off Russia as the U.S. Neocons turned Neolibs press toward WW III:  NATO Agrees Ukraine Will Become a Member (newsweek.com) Like Putin will ignore this, too?

I could support Elder:  Larry Elder, 70, announces he is running for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024 | Daily Mail Online. Just because he couldn’t win the govship of Commiefornia is no embarrassment.  Neither did Trump.   Kalifukya is left in a serious way supporting Bernie.  Xi could carry the state, we expect. Berine got 225 delegates in the 2020 prezprimer while Sloe Joe raised 172.  Xi should run.  How about to replace Jay Sleazy in Washington which just passed an unconstitutional gun law?  Don’t get me started.

Bitter Bet on BTC:  Our dart toss hit $26,000 next week for BTC.  Should be into the $$27,000’s later today.  We are not alone: Bitcoin Price Analysis Hints More 4-5% Fall this Week; Is it Time to Reaccumulate? (coingape.com).  (Our answer is “No!” unless you really need to lose money.)

ATR: Health, Exercise, Aging

So, there I was on my way to town Thursday morning.  When the right rear wheel started making a flop-flop-flop noise.  I drove a few blocks, not wanting to play with the King Corso’s on the road, and finding a nice wide spot, proceeded to change the offending tire.

It was a reminder that at 74, jacking up a car and doing a 9-minute tire change is NOT something everyone does.  But, except for the sweat, no heart palps or missed beats… which gets me to a point.

Remember a year back, I was skipping beats in my ticker at a pretty good clip.  But instead of the “out of the box” answer (pacemaker) I held to the other approach which was modest meds, CPAP, and an emphasis on remodeling heart function a bit.

Some research along the way which is NOT medical advice (talk to your doctor) but it’s interesting to see how “science catches up” over time.  Papers to read:

  1. Since I have been doing periodic 2-3 day courses of serratiopeptidase a/k/a serrapeptase, interesting read is Serratiopeptidase Attenuates Lipopolysaccharide-Induced Vascular Inflammation by Inhibiting the Expression of Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein-1 – PMC (nih.gov).
  2. We’ve also been using berberines first because they mimic metformin’s blood sugar control functions and – the useful part to me – is they seem to attenuate arrythmias:  Cardiovascular actions of berberine – PubMed (nih.gov).
  3. And, of course, our Light Crown (and speed crown) that we’ve been using off and on since 2016 has continued to validate over time.  From 2021 Photobiomodulation Therapy for Dementia: A Systematic Review of Pre-Clinical and Clinical Studies – PubMed (nih.gov).  Elaine and I each carry one allele. Which kind of assumes you understand a bit of Alzheimer’s Disease Genetics Fact Sheet | National Institute on Aging (nih.gov) and realize up to 25 percent may have our APOE-4 allele.
  4. Last but not least, our periodic cycling of fisetin has not only been shown to clear out some senescent cellular debris, but it also may help the eyes. Fisetin Prevents Angiogenesis in Diabetic Retinopathy by Downregulating VEGF – PubMed (nih.gov)

We continue to use a combination of two supplement “stacks” in our efforts to beat-back aging.

The morning stack is GlyNAC (glycine plus N-Acetyl Cysteine) because the research points in that direction. See Supplementing Glycine and N-Acetylcysteine (GlyNAC) in Older Adults Improves Glutathione Deficiency, Oxidative Stress, Mitochondrial Dysfunction, Inflammation, Physical Function, and Aging Hallmarks: A Randomized Clinical Trial | The Journals of Gerontology: Series A | Oxford Academic, as an example.

Keep an eye on the Fools and Thugs Administration.  There has been talk they might pull another corporate scam like they did with colchicine to rip-off people who have gout. FDA Releases Final Guidance on Enforcement Discretion for Certain NAC Products  came out last year.  The (we think legit) fear is that NAC may be taken off the market at some point under the same (greedy pricks) pretext.  We’re now deep into the land of “captive regulators” so it’s like being among pickpockets.  Eyes shut wide.  We stock a year or two ahead.

The night stack is 5-HTP (precursor of melatonin), DHEA, and berberines.  Which is our own kluge of the age reversal protocol revealed in Nature in 2019.First hint that body’s ‘biological age’ can be reversed (nature.com).  Although there is some talk of metformin possibly being approved as an anti-aging drug, there is some suggestion that similar effects from berberines is a more natural approach.

All of this crops up because Elaine hits 80 this weekend and most people don’t think she looks more than 60-ish.

Elaine is still walking around in shock because a reader (Bullish Bob) sent her a birthday note and a hundred-dollar check.  We were both floored.  The amazing thing is Elaine can’t think of anything she wants.  We both remember times when if a hundred landed in your hand it would be gone in sixty-seconds.

My vote is for perfume…but let’s see what she comes up with…

Off to wait for the “shockingly bullish” news that will light a candle under this market’s ass to finish much higher today, as much as the upper trend channel. Shockingly-Good PMI number, maybe?

  1. The split-second I saw Elon’s Big F-ing Rocket “stack” begin to tumble, I knew the headline in the harpy press would be featuring it as a Big Failure; and, of course, it was.

    They. Just. Don’t. Get. It.

Or, worse, they DO get it, and MUST dismantle any Musk success AS a failure — to serve The Great Imperative. (Musk = “Bad Guy”)

The “Win” was when it cleared the top of the tower. (In case you need a tutor.)

The Thing to note is the dozens (hundreds?) of highly excited hyper-enthusiastic YOUNG people cheering each milestone met or exceeded.

They, and those like them, ARE our Hope.

    • Yes, even Elon himself gave it a 50-50 chance of achieving orbit. And please note the wordsmithing… the rocket didn’t spontaneously ‘explode’. The upper stage failed to separate, and the flight termination system was used to intentionally blow it up. Musk says they learned a lot from the test flight.

    • I think you have that wording wrong!!

They called it “Controlled Disassembly” if I remember yesterday correctly!!

(agree the young people type who populate SpaceX ARE the hope for us, NOT the so called WOKE people that the NY Times and the rest of the NY City, DC, and California Media like to CHAMPION as the World’s Saviors)

      • Yeah, complex terminology. I saw that during the Pacific Missile Range tests at Barking Sands, Kauai also. They successfully intercepted a missile fired from a ship out in the Pacific. They referred to it as ‘explosive rapid disassembly’ of an incoming.

But everybody knows what ‘blow it up’ means.

  2. $100.00? Psychedelics are available (decriminalized but still federally controlled) in Ann Arbor MI.

Birthday Ayahuasca. I’m only 1/2 kidding.

    • Ayahuasca is not always a happy drug, even if sometimes legal. I’d vote for Molly(MDMA) as a way to safely bond our hosting couple even tighter together. E for ?? I don’t know the status in Ann Arbor. It also has anti-cancer effects and anecdotally, when used carefully may possibly have anti-aging effects too. It certainly does in the moment, but may have long term benefits from dendritic pruning. Of course, it makes you happy, so it’s illegal. Set and setting(bedroom), no alcohol, and no agenda(or clothes) for the day! ED pill might help, since this promotes the droop. Do enough, but not too much(“sources” say 80-140mg each if pure).

      Did I say I’m kidding?

      Nope.

  3. Happy Birthday Elaine!!
How about some new camel hair paint brushes? There are brushes that have a plastic support requiring less tension to paint with. Your hands won’t tire as quickly.

  4. Folks might wish to consider taking quercitin supplementation along with increasing the quercitin-rich fruits and veggies noted in this Mt Sinai piece:

    https://www.mountsinai.org/health-library/supplement/quercetin

Like Fisetin, Quercitin is a flavinoid and reportedly does good things to the bad stuff inside of us. Resveratrol is another supp. to consider, especially if one does not tolerate or otherwise avoids drinking red wine.

    • Quercetin is an ‘ionophore’ that ushers Zinc thru cell walls where it is taken in to the cell to fight viral infections. Zinc is practically useless without it for fighting things like Covid. Another ionophore is hydroxy Chloroquine. (Quinine) Touted for fighting Covid, it is useless by itself. It works with Zinc in the same way.

      • I agree with the above information. Note: If you take quercetin daily (or eat a lot of apples or onions), do not take extra zinc every day. If you are having an URI, that is the time to dissolve zinc lozenges in you mouth. My personal experience is the URI will be short livid.

  5. Happy Birthday, Elaine!
“80” — been there, done that, it’s just a number. The big lesson for me was not the birthday but rather a stroke 8 years ago: “Every day is a gift!” I try to use each day wisely.

  6. “The good news is Energizer and Duracell alkaline batteries are made in the USA so at least our remotes will keep working. ”

that got me thinking.. great post G…
the cheap batteries from china I adore.. I buy them all the time.. I have twelve that are rechargeable and have been using them for over ten years now.. best batteries I have ever gotten..
as for the WHAT IF… is why I tend to go with hand tools..
the old stanley 45 or a japanese draw saw.. hand drill press..
I did see something I had never seen before today though.. a metal lathe that was hand powered.. who would have known.. I have seen treadle lathes.. but never a hand cranked one..
the WHAT IF.. if a hemp did happen and we did have a total collapse of the grid.. a corded power tool would be worthless to.. but you could use it for a sinker on a fishing line.. and if you have a backup generator.. you still need gas.. and the gas pumps are electric ..

    • Ditto ^ above, Happy BD Mrs Ure!

We celebrate my son’s 1/2 BD every year. Started as a (only) child yoke that stuck. 1/2 cake, 1 shoe, the list got long. Now I give practical if slightly crazy stuff. This last go? Star of the show was a brace ‘n bit. I had (3) so gave him one. What is it? Old School drill driver. Works anywhere and never needs charging.

Think I have (6) weeks of petrol stored should power go down. That without siphoning from cars (other people, not my own silly). Have several siphons too but … that’s another story. Ah to be young agin.

      Write when you get answers,
      Egor

ps – wobbling into the close. got the over or under?

      • N.B.

Siphons are of limited use with most newer cars. Ford started using a “siphon-proof” filler neck over 30 years ago in the LTD-CrownVic, Marquis, and TownCar. Other manufacturers soon followed suit. The real function of the filler neck is to prevent a fiery fuel dump, in case of a rollover. Some cars have extra long, convoluted necks, others have check valves. I’ve heard it said the only reliable siphon hose now is 1/4″ or 5/16″ flexible vinyl (like ice-maker tubing.) I’ve been told it was much easier (and faster) in the old days.

    • Don’t count on the local distributer, or his pipeline supplier having non-electric drivers or back-up power. The last hurricane I went through on the Gulf Coast, the only trucks delivering gas when I made it back to town was ExxonMobil. Fortunately there was an ExxonMobil station near me with power. I’m not sure whether they had isolated power or non-electric pumps at the tank farm.

  7. Right William
Musk said they got all their data ( telemetry all working).
It was an empty test flight.
What were they going to do, let it fall in a neghborhood?
On a fishing vessel or such?
That Explosion didn’t go right or left, it was a ring around the whole ship.
Flight got all the data necessary. so the RSO (Range Safety Officer) pressed the button.
I was working at Marshal Space Flight Center when Challenger blew.
The RSO detonated the Solid Fuel Boosters. That point in my young career I learned the entire ship was wired so an RSO ( not related or acquainted with anyone on board) is sitting at the button to make sure nothing goes of course.
    Eye opening thought.

  8. I hear there were tornadoes in Tyler last night. You have talked about managing trees for fire, do you have any preps for tornadoes? Having been through a couple where supposedly they weren’t suppose to be, I do wonder about you guys. This seems to be a busy year.

  9. today the cheapest commodity on earth is Natural Gas
    its sells for around $2.00
Same price like 25 years ago,
    it’s no INFLATION.

    • Buybuybuy – long dated Futures in Nat Gas! – bottom is in waiting for solid Buy signal, but if you like the gamble, jump the line and get in now.

Its like going Long/ Buying Yuan ETF today – in a year or three the Yuan will at parity with USD..soooo get in early and enjoy the ride, while you ring the registers !

Seen SLV etf ? physical Silver costs $50 per ounce today, premium included, while SLV is at $22 range.
..Some Ting Wong – my guess is they dont have the phyz, been rehypothycated and shorted out the wazoo by Bullion Banks.

Only need one major SLV holder to CALL in the Phyz from the ETF, but must be BIG player to qualify for Phyz option = large position..tick,tick,tick

Think jamie getting a lil nervous?

      • Agree Yuan is good for an 8x against $ I think you are going to be surprised at just how fast thats about happen….

    • Perhaps at the wholesale level, but there are plenty of markups on the way to retail. I prefer wood, it’s free for me. I’ll use gas when I must and have it available.

  10. Happy Birthday Elaine. 80 ain’t so bad and 81 is ok too. (ask me how I know). Lots of life left in us yet and I’m sure you keep George young too. Thank you. We need him.

George. I started Berberine yesterday. 500 mg before each of 2 daily meals. They recommended it about a hour before the meal. Apparently only a small percentage of it is absorbed into the blood stream and timing is relevant.

FWIW department. I struggled with osteoarthritis in my hands which was getting progressively worse. Could not remove jar lids, etc. I tried all kinds of things including CBD oil topically and orally. Got some small relief. Avoided the NSAIDS. About 6 months ago I started taking 15 grams a day of Collagen in a cup of afternoon tea and I have to say the results are impressive. No more CBD oil. Sometimes in the middle of the night, I might take 2 Tylenol Arthritis pills if sleep is interrupted but that’s it. Opening jar lids again and I am back to doing pushups from the floor.

I know this is a painful disease for a lot of seniors and hope this might help.

  11. Re: “The Future Repeated”
    feat. Green Climate Fund

    Folks,

Don’t stop the (printing) presses! President Biden’s remarks delivered at yesterday’s virtual Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate Change are out. The Forum’s green financing arm, Green Climate Fund, no doubt looks forward with grateful anticipation for the receipt of Mr. Biden’s promised cheque dated April 20th 2023 in the amount of US$1 billion.

One imagines that the GCF co-chair, Mr. N. Bhatti, Minister of Foreign Affairs Pakistan will be forwarding a thank you card at the earliest convenience. Should His Excellency be otherwise engaged, His alternate Mr. Ahmad Rajabi of the Islamic Republic of Iran can doubtless act in lieu. The pair have previously informed by public letter the Mexican GCF Secretary nested at Sky Garden, South Korea hq that a deputy finance minister from China with a Hong Kong business expertise background will be acting for the South Korean GCF board member in 2023.

Now, let’s ease into the Friday afternoon traffic out to Camp D. for the weekend with a 1970’s take from the dark side of the moon featuring DJ George.

    • Re: Reunification of Korea
feat. Sejong the Great, King of Joseon

      Folks,

The BBC’s Seoul correspondent has picked up the drumbeat for creation of a South Korean controlled nuclear arsenal from a Korean reunification academic of the Sejong Institute think tank. The Institute’s president is a Korean stationed at the University of Pennsylvania co-founded by Benjamin Franklin in 1749.

The English version of the Sejong Institute is blocked here. The Korean version includes a summary of the Institute’s 2022 donations and expenses. The bulk of the expenses appear to go to a pair of Chinese academics at two Chinese higher centres of learning. They would seem to be interested in a reunification of the two Koreas in a manner favorable to China…

      https://www.sejong.org/web/main/

Meanwhile back in Washington the 53rd Earth Day was proclaimed. In other news, America welcomes season 2 of “Beavis & Butt-head” to the airwaves.

      Metallica rocks.

  12. I’ve been expecting a regulatory ‘grab’ of NAC since I found out it is used as a ‘puff’ lung treatment for cystic fibrosis. Some physician was bemoaning the lack of availability of ‘medical grade NAC’ for such usage. But the shelves are full of it at the supplement store.
I don’t think NAC has a long storage life, though. Check your expiration dates. It smells like a sulfa compound… or maybe that’s the ‘acetyl’ molecule. And as it ages it develops small black specs that seem to be oxidation related… even before the expiry date. And I take both 5-HTP and at my age of 70, I also take 10mg of Melatonin. Life Extension research recommends 3mg starting at age 40 and increasing dosage as we age.

I’m a firm proponent of the anti-aging regime. Intelligent supplementation has already saved me from a painfully deteriorating early death. I’m still stoked by the electrician working on my house that told me. “You don’t look old enough to be retired.”

For you vaxxed folks who have regrets… Nattokinase dissolves the spike proteins your body is forced to make. Another proteolytic enzyme is Serrapeptase as GU mentions. I have found Serrapeptase extremely helpful with my arthritic hip joint. That and plenty of hydration cleans the accumulated crap out of the joint and I have less pain and more mobility. That’s my only health concern at this point. My lab tests usually leave my PCP doc silent, as he looks for something wrong that he can prescribe for. Cholesterol & sugar well low. “You’re OK” is all he says. Heart disease… the accumulation of plaques in your arteries… is a major killer of old folks. Proteolytic enzymes and some other supplements help clean out your arteries as well.

As always… not medical advice. Do your own due dilligence. I’m fortunate in the gene pool as there is no cancer and no heart disease in my family tree. My oldest brother is 90 and brags he still has ‘all original parts’.

    • “I’m still stoked by the electrician working on my house that told me. “You don’t look old enough to be retired.”

when someone tells me something like that I take a look in the mirror and wonder.. what does he want.. LOL LOL LOL .. about every ten years there is a new photo of me.. the one as a new grandpa.. then the one with me in the forties.. then I look at the photo of me today and I get a tear in the eye.. I have to admit.. I didn’t age well LOL LOL ..

  13. I find this whole thing rather fascinating..,
Bangladesh to pay Russia $300 million in Chinese yuan for a nuclear plant loan.

  14. OH … on the health front people need to go out and read the new issue of The Atlantic. Yep it’s to the left of the Liberals but it sometimes has some good articles and this month is one of those months.

It has an article on Ice Cream … and how a LOT of studies going back 20 years to recent that show ICE CREAM reduces the rate of getting Diabetes by 20%+!!

HOWEVER … since Ice Cream is NOT on the approved food list of those at Harvard (where all of our Recommended Dietary PR comes from) because it has FAT and MILK in it they won’t talk about it or even allow the studies that show how much it reduces the risk of Diabetes to be published in anything resembling a mass distributed publication.

Good … and at times funny … article on the benefits of eating a SMALL amount of Ice Cream twice a week – a now proven scientific FACT with a number of very good scientific studies behind it.

(I guess Harvard doesn’t want the average person to “Believe in the Science”!!)

  15. Happy Birthday Elaine!! George lucked out meeting you! and then getting you to marry him!!

Hope you are getting a nice B’day meal, be it at home or a restaurant, along with some cake and ice cream!!

    Have a great B’day!!

    Stephen

  16. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is paying $23 billion less in tax refunds for the 2023 filing season—with the average refund amount found to be lower by nearly $300.
This about 10.6% lower than last year.

  17. (I guess Harvard doesn’t want the average person to “Believe in the Science”!!)

    OR……

someone is an active member of PETA… and knew that to support ice cream.. means supporting the activity of someone gathering the flavor enhancers..
