We return to the scene of the Fed’s last spectacular error in 2018.  Because when we look over the wreckage there, sure looks like the Fed is set up to play the “Evil Twin” of the 2018 holiday debacle.

We not only go into the numbers but also sketch out how a return to work from the GovDown could help set up disaster timing to a tee.

And in today’s Focus piece?  We have a dandy paper ready on the art of decision-making when the data is incomplete.

Yeah, like now – when government’s gone,; in a sense. The future slightly out of focus. And the international picture bleak but holding.

What’s not to love?  Well, besides the price of gold, I mean.  We’re up about a “new car” for the month. But you’d never know it out here in mobile home country.  Unrealized gains taxation remains a liberal fantasy.

    Whats up with all the complexity in Ure tower takedown plans ? Just mix up some explosives (fertilizer&dieseloil) and plant that baby at one of the “foots” of the tower. Can use rope to pull that puppy in right direction..tie it into top of tower, tie other end on Ure truck bumper, and pretension that sucker…fire in the hole, go for a two fer and burn the brush down around ranch.

    • Get a quote from a crane company to come out and lift that sucker up and lay it down. That is what the local hams did where I grew up when their crank up towers got badly stuck.

      No risk to YOUR personal body, or to nearby buildings, and then you can get the tower rewired with new SS cabling /pullys /etc. and then reset it on it’s base after which you can put on new antennas and coax.

      At least get a quote from a couple of local crane companies … note: semi wrecker companies have BIG CRANES too and are often cheaper than construction crane companies, as in 1/3 to 1/4 the cost.

      • I don’t think O365 can be easily installed on a Linux box… auto-forced into the cloud. The extra steps/support using emulators, convertors, APIs…. equal higher cost.

    • I am running a new out-of-the-box laptop (wanting more processors vs just more monitors. In the end, when the mongo desktop is unboxed (work retread) all will be running Win11 Pro. I dislike using non-identical OS platforms. A habit of the old.

      To my surprise MSFT still didn’t require an “account” setup though it pestered for a while. I’m not anti-Microsoft or anything, just don’t actually need an account. Interestingly, though Edge is “off” something is turning it on? Possibly when I use part of Office. No big …

  13. I have spent the last couple of weeks buying parts to build a new 1911 45, double stack combat pistol. I don’t really need one., as my Strayer-Voigt double stack custom-combat., my EDC., covers all the bases and I have enough quality parts to rebuilding it, twice-over.
    But I “feel the need”.., this one will be very plain looking. Slab-side, no serrations., no optics.., no fancy grips.., just a very professional, heavy duty, ‘smooth-operator’.
    Prices have sure gone up – especially for the high-end barrels. Maybe a lot of others also feel the need.[?]

    I read that Omaha Steaks, the mail-order meat company has seen a near 300% increase in orders over the past four quarters. I went to their web site and checked them out. Their prices are half, to a third of that at my local Safeway. wow…,
    Granted you do not get to see/chose your cuts – but I could not find one bad review., especially accounting for price.
    So.., I dropped a Benjamin on an order. [ Got 10% off for – first order.]

    I live in a small., out-of-the-way town.., an hour from the nearest highway.., you don’t get here by accident. To get into town you have to drive through a tunnel. Locals call everything delivered here, food gas, clothing., etc.., as having a ‘Tunnel Tax’.. and it’s true.

    • Never had a bad box of steaks from Omaha Steaks. Never got a package that had anything in it but steaks but they have been marketing the heck out of their combo packs that include chicken and pork the last couple of years which is probably part of the reason for their sales increase.

I had to tell him the holiday only pertains to administration staff and government workers lol lol lol…it doesn’t exist for the wage earners lol..I only worked for one place that recognized them and hey it was a govt job lol lol we had to work but could take off any other vital holiday..so we picked poinsettia day..had big banners made up and posted absolutely no work on poinsettia day..lol lol lol
