The Flash Drive at Alexandria

Most investors look at a rising market and assume progress. But on a Fed Day, that assumption can be expensive. Price moves for three very different reasons: real business improvement, currency dilution, and story momentum. If you don’t separate them, you end up celebrating gains that are really just your money getting weaker. Today’s column tackles a simple but uncomfortable question: are stocks rising because American companies are genuinely producing more and better—or because the dollar buys less of everything that matters?

Using a civilian-grade calculation—no PhD, no quants, no CPI fairy dust—we strip market gains into hard-constraint terms the Fed can’t print and China can’t fake overnight. When you do that, something sobering shows up. Since pre-COVID, the market’s headline gains look impressive. In real purchasing-power terms, they’re far less heroic. Some genuine productivity exists. But a large share of what feels like “growth” turns out to be forced defense against monetary dilution.

The punchline matters for today’s rate decision, today’s ChartPack, and the next several years of investing. Roughly half of what many investors think is wealth creation may simply be money illusion—priced in as if it were permanent. That doesn’t make the market wrong. It makes situational awareness essential. If you want to know whether you’re getting richer—or just running harder to stay in place—this morning’s Peoplenomics lays out a framework worth stealing.

So is our view about the future on knowledge as Elaine and I face one of the hardest decisions seniors make:  What to do with all our beloved books?

  1. YUP,
Me and mine have debated that question on books for awhile now, lots to consider ALL depending on what happens, now of course i have some that are out of print and are full of info. that is not available anymore and won’t ever be again. Now what about the mountains of recreational reading? that is the dilemma and full of options depending on many potential outcomes, like if we get nuked might be good fire starter and or in a hundred years, anyone left alive might need them for something, LOL not a easy answer IF one wants to be rational.

    • Man of NM mountains : it was my thought to burn all the copious George Ure books littering the office. Oh, virtual publishing. Never mind :0) Egor of the hard water Lake

  2. WAR ….
War with Iran looks like it’s baked into the cake and will begin shortly, (Friday night Tehran time?) All sorts of reports, including the OFFICIAL US Government CIA publication known as the “New York Times”, indicate that War with Iran is almost here (the NY Times says the US could hit within 48 hours).

I thought the if we were going to start a NEW WAR in the Middle East the US would wait until our second aircraft carrier arrived, but it looks like War Fever is so bad for those drinking Potomac River Water that those delerious with the fever can no longer can wait, even an extra 10 days.

2026 looks to start with a “BANG” … and once that happens look for the BANGS to only get louder and cover a wider area as the year progresses. This year’s Chinese New Years in Taiwan may truly be Chinese New Years.

    • Yeah israHELL is just itching to get after the Iranians again, after getting their collective asses handed to them last time they FAFO’d with Iran.

Notice the orange gollum of greatness is parroting bibi nowadays with claim of considering assassinating religious leaders. Its getting harder and harder to differentiate the two.

tRUMP IS israHELL FIRST ! or just owned and prone boned on the regular, like SiL kushner does?

Notice the “israilification” of ICE & Border Patrol in Minneapolis ?

Classic actions of a DYING EMPIRE – Money is becoming worthless, Military overextended and killing the economy along wit cia budget (twice that of military).

Before long tRUMP will channeling Caligula and banging Senators wifes in backroom of Senate and recording everything for Congress and Senates viewing pleasure. Wonder if He goes for a Pay Per View package, so the rest of the unwashed masses can get a peaky. Pretty lurid, no?

Year of the Fire Horse…He is outta the gate and approaching the 1/4 post, time for some “sparkilie” action to lite up Racecourse.

If it looks&feels like Humanity is losing this Race, look up, they are there and waiting to lend a helping Mind if desired.

PS – how they getting the Lincoln in the Gulph ? Houthi say “nien, nein, nein” to any red sea passage, and Iran aint gonna let anyone near the Gulph. I guess from iraq is possible, but UAE and SA have closed their airspace as well.

No likey this pending misadventure, but with the new “signals” electronic warfare plane now in theater..oh well good luck to the Aviators, think they are going to need some.

  3. GU : “… when I have looked at past Fed
Chair discussions I’ve seen enough times when there will be a false move, one
    way or the other …”

Ahem, the above ^ was borrowed (swiped) from the ChartPak at PeopleNomics.com Pls forgive the theft but … this is something I recall you posting long ago and it’s a fascination every FedDay. The first (often violent) move is sometimes a ploy before trend sets in (reverse of the first move). We shall watch this together, hey?

I’m going out to push snow (another fresh couple inches last night with slow steady additions today. The temp bottomed around 5F and … is now at 9F. Told Mrs. E we’d go to the grocery today (half to get the girl out of the house / half to reload fresh foods).

Me? While the Mrs. surfs the store I’m off to Menards. One small much loved space heater failed and another seems to have gone walk-about. Probably as soon as I overpay for a replacement the person who borrowed it will return my wayward garage style friend.

Stay warm people and, if playing the markets stay nimble.

  4. Certainly the most anticipated information today is not only Mr Powell’s words but how thoughs words are received in the financal community.
What has a more direct effect on myself is the Gold/Dow ratio and the
Gold/Silver ratio. All the rising Precious Metals prices tell a story.
The reported an unreported increasing gold purchases by the worlds Central Banks tells me Fiat currencies are nearing collapse.
Anecdotal comments ow from average people worldwide, fearing some sort of collapse. are turning to Silver for a form of protection.
The Precious Metals (PM) are the only real MoneyCurrency and have been in throughout time worldwide.
PMs are insurance; it is my hope you have enough.
BE WELL TO ALL WHO PASS THIS WAY

  5. If Powell is PO’d at Trump since he’s gone as Chairman in May he either ought to lower rates 50bps or raise em 50bps and let Trump steam either way ….. I myself am vindictive so if Trump wants rates lower I’d cut em 100bps and wait for the Taco……They of course prolly do nothing …. Hi Yo Silver

  6. good points as always george . but we live in the moment. cant put toothpaste back in the tube and running water only goes under a bridge once. brace for impact. the lies will unwind now

  7. i will comment on this. i recently sat down and wrote letters to each of my children and a few others. they are letters to be read after i die.

when and if i go to Military Sealift Command should i get the early out for Good Behavior? i thought it be prudent to leave my loved ones what i really think and see in them. not just a will of heres my shit. that a dangerous job and tomorrow is not promised to anyone.

i think is close to one of the hardest accomplishments i have ever done. like what would you say beyond the grave to those you love and remain here?

i pointed out there strengths, moments i really admired their courage and bravery. the things about them that suprised me. some of my fondest memories shared with them. the moments they inspired me and motivate me excell in life. that i loved them very much and never doubted their love. i gave them some sage wisdom that has proven itself to me as valuable time and time again.

each letter was unique to the individual and was all about them and who they are. they are all sealed up and placed in a safe location and will be delivered when i pass.

now i have no plans of dieng anytime soon. i am supposed to live to age 118. because THE DUDE has work for me to do. and that was the marker given to me in my last few NDEs prior to returning to my body.

i just thought it was prudent to leave them with something. and i wrote what i wanted to say at my funeral to all who might attend as well.

it was really hard to write them. once i got going many of them were 8 to 10 pages. the one thing it was good for was seeing the amazing things that others have brought into my life. seeing the good in them and a fond apreciation for their humanity.

im happy i sat down and wrote them. so they never doubt if i truly saw them and who they really are in my eyes.

now, i best get to the gym and get a few other things accomplished.

THE DUDE is a Hard Worker. HE Loves Hardworking Men. We are so Blessed.

    • (“now i have no plans of dieng anytime soon. i am supposed to live to age 118″)

I have seen and taken care of quite a few centurians…and I can tell you there’s a fragility to that age that most folks don’t understand. It’s not just a number — it’s a whole different stage of life. So when someone says they’re “chosen” to live to 118, it tells me they haven’t really seen what that actually looks like.

In my experience from what I’ve seen is, the real calling one has isn’t about being singled out for extra years. It’s about being a steady individual, doing your best is about the only thing you can do, and living a life of sharing and caring while we’re all headed toward the same finish line. Longevity isn’t a badge — it’s a responsibility, and it takes more humility than bravado. My brother had a profound statement that really hit home after my mother passed away..
He was looking at the things that were left of her whole lives journey..and said ” isn’t it sad that at the end of your life..all that’s left is a couple of boxes of assorted crap..A few photos and the memory of what you stood for.”

I don’t know if I’d want to live that long..go into any retirement home.. the elderly sit looking down a hall..all hoping that someone will come, all while seeing kids to busy that they speak as if you don’t exist..friends that have all journeyed their own path of the end..
      there’s a couple poems..

What do you see, nurse… what do you see?
Are you thinking – when you look at me:
      A crabbed old woman, not very wise;
Uncertain of habit with far-away eyes,

Who dribbles her food and makes no reply
When you say in a loud voice ‘I do wish you’d try.’
Who seems not to notice the things that you do
      And forever is losing a stocking or shoe;

Who, resisting or not, lets you do as you will
With bathing and feeding, the long day to fill.
Is that what you’re thinking, is that what you see?
Then open your eyes, nurse. You’re not looking at me!

I’ll tell you who I am as I sit here so still.
As I move at your bidding, eat at your will:
      – I’m a small child of ten with a father and mother,
      Brothers and sisters who love one another;
      – A young girl of sixteen with wings on her feet,
      Dreaming that soon a love she’ll meet;
      – A bride at twenty, my heart gives a leap,
      Remembering the vows that I promised to keep;
      – At twenty-five now I have young of my own
Who need me to build a secure, happy home.
      – A woman of thirty, my young now grow fast.
Bound together with ties that should last.
      – At forty, my young sons have grown up and gone,
      But my man’s beside me to see I don’t mourn;
      – At fifty once more babies play ’round my knee
Again we know children, my loved ones and me…

in the end its family , friends and faith..the rest is only an illusion..

      Here’s another poem..

      See me.
Not the wrinkles, not the slow steps, not the quiet room.
See the life that has been lived — the hands that worked, the heart that carried others,
the memories stacked behind these eyes like old photographs.

      See me.
I have outlived friends, neighbors, brothers in spirit.
The world I knew has thinned out, and the halls grow longer every year.
The young rush past — not unkind, just busy building the futures
I once worked to give them.

      See me.
Not as a burden, not as a task to check off,
but as someone who once stood where you stand now —
full of plans, full of strength, full of time.

      See me.
Because one day, you will walk this hallway too.
The image of who you once were,
      once dreamed of being
Now in the mirror I see the image of someone different
the hope that someone pauses long enough
to remember that you are still here,
      still dreaming,
in my mind I’m still the one with goals and youthful appearance
dreams, waiting silently for family to slow down enough to care
      still human still desiring
with dreams of a future that’s now gone
      looking down a hall
waiting, hoping, my life just a memory

    • Oops only copied half of the poem

      – At fifty once more babies play ’round my knee
Again we know children, my loved ones and me…
Dark days are upon me, my husband is dead.
I look at the future, I shudder with dread.
For my young are all rearing young of their own,
And I think of the years
and the love that I’ve known.

I’m an old woman now, and nature is cruel.
‘Tis her jest to make old age look like a fool.
The body, it crumbles, grace and vigor depart.
There is a stone where I once had a heart.

But inside this old carcass a young girl still dwells,
      And now again my bittered heart swells;
I remember the joys, I remember the pain
      and I’m loving and living life over again;

I think of the years, all too few, gone too fast
      And accept the stark fact that nothing can last;
So open your eyes, nurse, open and see…
      not a crabbed old woman.
      Look closer… see me!

I’m watching over a couple of individuals now..that are feeling the stress of family that is to busy to stop in..

      • Yeah must be very fulfilling for you. On the other side of this are folks like my Mom. A toothless bearded hag, who raised me with a strap across my back. She is one nasty bitch – and Everybody sees it now that she has lost her “filter” at 95 yrs of age, everybody.

I cursed my old man on his Death, even after taking care of his ass the last 2.5 years..including putting him in a top notch Assisted Living Facility.
Cant recall how many times I ran away from Home as a child..it was kinda a regular thing there for awhile. Same thing with Mom, cept more so.
Yes I am the one who put her in current facility, against her will, till her younger Brother joined me in my sales pitch . She fought going/ moving out of cottage to true assisted in main bldg. Not till she fell off the toilet one night and broke her wrist, then the facility started pushing..finally got her over there just before Christmas.
I can say one thing with 100% confidence – if she were Not Mother (Adoptive) I would have PUNCHED that bitch in the Throat a long time ago.

        * “pray for the dead and the dead will pray for you” is 100% complete and utter BULLSCHEISSE.

There dead, there is NOTHING there but a rotting meat sack, NOTHING more. Do what you will with my dead body – IDGA F___!

cyber war = 3 days darkness – as the “plan” is being executed.

        • I honestly can’t see it all…but I can tell you..it takes a lot to shock me..
I’ve seen the horrors of families fighting over crap..each wanting the real their supposedly loved ones all wanting.. like piranhas.. its heart breaking..I will never forget one lady..she had what looked like gumball ring..
          kind of looked like this…
          https://th.bing.com/th/id/R.f112605fa8c27a0340d52385b5315059?rik=ZAXWEofdERM%2btA&riu=http%3a%2f%2fwww.candystore.com%2fcdn%2fshop%2fcollections%2fRing-Pops_1200x1200.webp%3fv%3d1698153711&ehk=pGDXRLvzBAErR98Oqe6LFV%2bmbcAtq9AuieEhjGC2Jxo%3d&risl=&pid=ImgRaw&r=0
one day she called me in and said..honey would you put this in the safe..why.. oh my families coming and the only reason they want to see me is to try and get this from me..
I took it down and said oh she wants this in the safe..it was a real rock.. at just about a quarter million a year..it doesn’t take to long to go through a life’s savings..my own sister asked me..what happened to moms money..sis she was in A nursing home for x years..what do you think happened to it..I made sure she got her weekly hair do and her laundry and other personal necessities..
even where I’m sitting right now..the people pay a huge amount..a friend and claimed started this facility..he once said..I have people throwing farms at me..yet.. this facility and 37 others are forced to sell every few years..they don’t take in enough to keep going..its part of the healthcare industry..the forgotten ones..

        • I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve made up beds in empty rooms or the couch and chairs because they’ve lost everything..nursing facilities would be better off if instead of dumping lost cash in the insurance industry that proudly boasts of yearly huge profits.. instead invest the cash in the health of a nation..probably the reason we have one of the worst healthcare systems on the planet..at one point in time 67% of healthcare workers were not insured.I don’t know what the statistics are today..but I’ve had a few that lived in our spare bedrooms that had everything taken to care for their loved ones..living in dumpsters and car’s.. that’s one reason I love Sams club and Wal-Mart and Costco… many were allowed to live in their cars in their parking lot..there’s a movie made about one of those many..

        • Wow , reading Looking out of the Box’s and BCPs comments are both hard to read but for different reasons. I am going to think about them for quite a while. Life truly is a bitch , then we die.

        • (“KEVIN O

Wow , reading Looking out of the Box’s and BCPs comments are both hard to read but for different reasons.”)

its really quite sad.. Especially your personal value depends on A number on A ledger sheet..I vent my frustrations often..because others are fortunate enough to not have seen these type things..It’s hard for people to understand these things unless they’ve lived through them or worked beside the ones who have. The sad truth is that your worth in this system often comes down to a number on a ledger sheet. Those who start with money get the better rooms, the better care, the softer landing. Those who don’t are left to make do with whatever scraps the system can afford.

I’ve watched people who once lived comfortably lose everything after one injury or one bad turn, and suddenly they’re in the same world as the rest of us — confused, scared, and wondering how it all fell apart so fast.Families and friends abandon them as it they have the plague.. I’ve seen the ones in nursing homes sitting at the end of the hall, waiting for a familiar face that rarely comes and when they do..they look at their watch checking to see if they spent the appropriate amount of time so they can leave. Not because their families don’t care, but because life has pushed everyone into survival mode.

Facilities Also struggle trying to balance the books. federal compensating funds for those that have lost their lives earnings stands around three bucks an hour..so they have to charge more to those that have the numbers..I’m, clinics turn people away because they don’t have the funds or an insurance card that rarely pays for anything having high deductibles and co-pays, Sending them to the ER where ERs get overloaded, and the costs get pushed back onto the very people who can least afford it. And when hardship hits, people pull away like you’re contagious.. friends family avoid you your value is gone.. You go from being part of the world to being someone others avoid, just like those elders staring down the hallway hoping someone will stop long enough to listen.
People listen to me Covent and think dam that unbelievable.. he’s gotta be pumping smoke up my ass..the saddest thing is
It isn’t exaggeration. It’s the quiet reality most people never see — until it becomes their turn.

“The Telegraph”, in sales talks since last November with a subsidiary owned by billionaire media tycoon the 4th Viscount Rothermere, published a report that China had allegedly tapped #10 Downing Street PM phones earlier in the decade. The story’s fruition thanks to alleged USA detailed contribution has coincided with UK PM Sir Starmer’s arrival in Beijing for a visit.

UK msm platform “LBC” picked up “The Telegraph” report and published it on an unenclosured commons web setting for plebean access at the following link:

    https://www.lbc.co.uk/article/china-hacking-downing-street-keir-starmer-5HjdRMK_2/

The “LBC” report is prefaced with a March, 2021 picture of phone-in-hand former UK PM Boris standing before a commercial sales ad background. The image may have first appeared in “The London Standard” which is majority-owned by a life peer in Parliament’s House of Lords, and son of a formerly London-based alleged KGB agent. “The London Standard’s” minority owner is Viscount Rothermere.

Media outlet “LBC” is currently owned by Scotsman Lord Allen of Kensington. He is also chairman of the board for the Invictus Games founded by the Duke of Sussex lately of Montecito, Ca., as well as chairman of the board for the ruling UK Labour Party.

    • re: “De Stella Nova”, Kepler, 1606
feat: “The Birds”, du Maurier, 1952

History records that the reign of Queen Salome (“Peace”) Alexandra (gr: “She who wards off men”[stands as a shield]) comprised the last Golden Age of Judah before decay and subsequent conquest by Rome. The most recently recorded supernova took place on October 8-9, 1604. A twin star system comprised of a white dwarf and a red giant in the Ophiucus (“serpent-bearer”) constellation exploded and is now known as SN 1604 or Kepler’s Star, named after its Stuttgart-born observer.

On Wednesday the President of the Ukraine published a report of his welcome for red-headed Ms. Tata Hryhorivna Kepler to the presidential office in Kyiv. She obtains medical supplies for frontline regions, and was awarded ‘Legend of Ukraine’ status in 2022 by the President for her ‘Project Ptahy’ (“Birds”, not to be confused with the Egyptian deity Ptah). The Project credits its initial launch assistance to a charity headed by the Governor of the National Bank (Central Bank) of Ukraine. As chance would have it, the Central Bank has acquired public mentions since last November by NABU vis-a-vis its alleged corruption inquiry into matters surrounding the former head of the presidential office.

Publicly available records inform that Ms. Kepler spent her early childhood at undisclosed locations in Israel. She subsequently surfaced in care of her mother to attend School #41 offering Jewish faith curriculum in Chernivtsi, Ukraine. Her public cv notes first employment in Ukraine by a Jerusalem-headquartered coffee shop chain. Her Wikipedia page is available in Ukrainian but not English via uk dot wikipedia dot org. Interestingly bot Mike Horizon describing itself as “a servant of the people” has tagged the page for surveillance in recent hours perhaps outside the usual parameters of autostabilizer bot operations.

As an aside, Cannon Hall, the London childhood home of “The Birds” author Daphne du Maurier dates to 1720 and around circa 1780 served as abode for the physician to King George III. The edifice appears cast as a school setting in the 2020 film “Tenet” which examines ‘inverted’ entropy. Its plot includes the 14th, Kyiv, a Russian oligarch, and palindromes.

Separately, Ms. du Maurier’s father George wrote the popular 1894 novel “Trilby”. As chance would have it, Trilby is the pseudonym of Lady Sophie, a daughter of the Marquess of Abergavenny lately of Eridge Park set upon the former landholdings of a half-brother of William the Conquerer.

  9. Poland’s central bank, the most active buyer among central banks in the world, reporting it has raised its total gold reserves ?to 550 tons. Poland ? What are those sneaky little devils up to??

The United States “officially” holds roughly 261.5 million troy ounces of gold—about 8,133 metric tons—making it the largest official gold holder in the world. This figure represents the long?standing official U.S. gold reserve total and has remained essentially unchanged for decades., as the U.S. government no longer buys, or sells gold. Current market value is just below $2 trillion dollars.
This official amount has been challenged by many conspiracy theorists., but no legal challenger to this government claim has ever been made in court.

    China Official Holdings
    • 2,303.50 tonnes in Q3 2025
    • This is China’s highest recorded level since data tracking began.
    • China has more than doubles it’s gold reserves since 2001.

  10. Time to get back inside the moat. Our time on the dirt, penthouse living by the river is coming to a close and tomorrow we auto it back to the floating world, hopefully not just in time for SHTF sort of things globally. Lots of quake activity after the big solar events just past, and thoughts are all good for the ‘up the river’ safeness. The dirt has been noisy, smelly, and crowded in the surrounds, so shifting is welcome.
5300… 5300.. will anyone give me 55? 55?? Sold to the old man in the back.
117… 117… 120 anyone? Sold to the nice lady in row two.
Just saw Le Fin, possessor of a view of beautiful downtown LA just dropped the price by 40MM$. Now it’s a real deal. Imagine wanting to get rid of a view of that dirt. Hard to believe.

Heidi Scholes of Groveland, Massachusetts (left) and Jennifer Johnson of West Newbury, Massachusetts (right) decided to try and doxx the ICE director and HIS WIFE AND KIDS. We exposed these two “ladies”… and something fun happened.

Someone – totally not us – reported to the “report ICE activity hotline” that the ICE officer who was forced to take the life of the woman in Minnesota was being “hidden” with his family at a home in Groveland, Massachusetts.

Someone – also totally not us – reported to the “report ICE activity hotline” that the officer who took out the armed “nurse” in Minnesota was being “hidden” with his family at a home in West Newbury, Massachusetts.

We hear there might have been some “confusion” and that the addresses leaked into the “report ICE activity hotline” might have “mistakenly” been the addresses of the individuals who believe it’s ok to doxx ICE agents.

Sources on the ground tell us that in the middle of the night… far-left protestors and agitators arrived at said homes in large numbers… blowing whistles, banging pans, laying on horns and demanding they leave MA.

Someone has turned the parasites on themselves, and we’re watching in enjoyment.

But it TOTALLY wasn’t us. We would never be behind such a silly thing as that. Or reporting thousands upon thousands of fake locations of where ICE agents have been “spotted” – including biker bars and liberal coffee shops.

    • This appears to describe a counter-espionage style operation against the Riot Inc command and control structure. That is good. This is smarter than doling out summary execution of wannabe leftist martyrs in the streets while cameras roll.
A variation of this operation would be to give the network a juicy target in a remote location where there aren’t bystanders to endanger, then arrest anyone that shows up and charge them with insurrection.

    • that’s why the bee guy won’t drop any hives around our neck of the woods to..the other thing in GMO is they merged the tobacco plant into the DNA of some plants . nicotine is a poison that kills pests

  13. Latest news from Beijing: Zhang Youxia is currently stationed at the August 1st CMC Building, taking command, with his direct-line troops gradually converging on Beijing from multiple locations across the country.

This is precisely the fundamental reason why China’s major official media outlets have so far refrained from making any public statements — neither openly supporting Xi Jinping nor clearly siding with Zhang Youxia.

The political situation in Beijing has now entered a highly sensitive and confrontational phase.

  14. As of January 27

The main force of the 82nd Group Army stationed in Baoding City, Hebei Province

The main force of the 83rd Group Army stationed in Xinxiang City, Henan Province

The main force of the 79th Group Army stationed in Liaoyang/Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province

The main force of the 80th Group Army stationed in Jining City, Shandong Province

Reports indicate that these troops supporting Zhang Youxia and Liu Zhenli have arrived in Beijing and its surrounding areas. They have formed an anti-Xi Jinping alliance and established a joint command post.

In the Beijing area, the anti-Xi Jinping alliance and the pro-Xi Jinping “Imperial Guards” are locked in a stalemate.

    Something extraordinary is happening.

  15. It is rumored that in the early hours of January 28, the special operations detachment of the 82nd Group Army, which was heading to the Xishan Command Center of the Joint Staff Department to rescue Zhang Youxia and Liu Zhenli, was surrounded by troops from the Beijing Garrison Command and the Special Duty Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, and could only hold their position and wait for reinforcements…

…With the support of the Army Aviation Corps’ rapid reaction force, the special operations detachment of the 82nd Group Army successfully broke out. The fighting lasted approximately 70 minutes, with both sides suffering dozens of casualties.

I’m still not sold on any of this being legit. Zhang (China’s top-ranked general) was arrested last week. Rumor has it, Xi wants to invade Taiwan, Zhang is against the idea and has been counseling caution, and this is what caused the rift. I have found no indication (yet) of actual civil infighting amongst or between PLA armies. Others undoubtedly have better China sources than I, so…
