Fed meeting is likely to result in a quarter point hike in rates tomorrow afternoon.

Markets and Dentistry
Since I’m going to a dental appointment this week, the mind has been looking at stock charts with a dental flare to them. Using our Aggregate Index (because individual indices like Tech alone do not tell the future well), the dental word top of mind is “Impaction.”
No, I have a cavity, but the Market looks impacted at resistance levels shown lower right:
We would not be surprised to see the market drop back some today and then rally after the rate hike tomorrow.
As for the cause of the market “impaction?” A note from our Houston Bureau pointed to this simple reason: There may not be enough money to keep rolling this pig upstairs. This year’s 3 bank failures held $532B in assets — more than all lenders that collapsed in 2008 crisis (nypost.com).
Kind of hard to raise rates and not bring on a contraction, but it’s the classic “You can pay now or pay more later” kind of problem.
Something of a Rarity
I don’t often post an article from
, but this one was pretty damn good, so thought I’d share it:
How “Insane Optimism” is at Work in the Stock Market
“Stock investors are so bullish that they are…”
By Elliott Wave International
Many technical indicators are highly useful, yet the price moves of the stock market really boil down to two things: optimism and pessimism.
Major trend turns tend to occur when extremes are reached in either optimism or pessimism.
Most recently, optimism has been in charge. The question is: Has an extreme been reached?
Well, there are at least two signs which strongly point to a “yes” answer.
The first sign to which I’d like to call your attention regards the S&P 500 dividend yield. What you need to know is that stock prices tend to top when dividend yields are low and bottom when they’re high.
Robert Prechter explains how this is related to optimism and pessimism in his recently published April Elliott Wave Theorist, which covers major financial and social trends:
Investors in a positive mood bid up stock prices regardless of dividend yield, and investors in a negative mood adjust stock prices lower regardless of dividend yield. Yield simply follows the waves of optimism and pessimism.
The April Theorist provided more insight with this chart and associated commentary:
[The chart] shows that S&P companies’ dividends today yield only 1.66% annually. Investors are putting up with that low payout despite the virtually riskless 5% yield of Treasury bills, which is three times as much. Stock investors are so bullish that they are certain their capital gains will make dividends irrelevant.
The second sign of insane optimism is revealed in this March 29 Bloomberg news item:
They’ve become a high-speed, high-risk, high-reward tool in turbulent markets: Options with shelf lives so short they expire in less than a day [known as “zero-day-to-expiry’ options].
… Success is far from certain, and even some Wall Street pros don’t fully understand them.
That hasn’t deterred thrill-seeking retail investors from piling into 0DTE options.
As the April Theorist says:
Options Gambling Is Another Symptom of Historic Optimism
Looking beyond sentiment extremes, the April Theorist also shows the stock market’s Elliott wave structure in monthly and hourly charts. The information revealed in these charts is very much worth knowing.
If you’re unfamiliar with Elliott wave analysis, read Frost & Prechter’s Wall Street classic, Elliott Wave Principle: Key to Market Behavior. Here’s a quote:
All waves may be categorized by relative size, or degree. The degree of a wave is determined by its size and position relative to component, adjacent and encompassing waves. Elliott named nine degrees of waves, from the smallest discernible on an hourly chart to the largest wave he could assume existed from the data then available. He chose the following terms for these degrees, from largest to smallest: Grand Supercycle, Supercycle, Cycle, Primary, Intermediate, Minor, Minute, Minuette, Subminuette. Cycle waves subdivide into Primary waves that subdivide into Intermediate waves that in turn subdivide into Minor waves, and so on. The specific terminology is not critical to the identification of degrees, although out of habit, today’s practitioners have become comfortable with Elliott’s nomenclature.

News Poop Pouri
Step right up and hear the fear mongering! US faces cash crisis, Treasury Secretary Yellen warns. This has people worried about Social Security but even the democrats can’t be that stupid…well, maybe…
The attack on Justice Clarence Thomas continues. With the virtue-signaling lefties demanding his ouster so THEY can pack the court before Slo Joe is thrown out by voters in ’24. Popcorn as Senators to hear testimony on Supreme Court ethics. Our read is Thomas did what was required at the time…but truth and facts don’t matter anymore, do they?
The Big Lies just never Slo their flow: Karine Jean-Pierre roasted for claiming illegal immigration is down 90%: ‘These people think we’re stupid’. Consider who the president is, and who put him into office. Based on this, we calculate that “stupid” has to be on the table no matter what the ego cost.

Climate Notes
Hell of a traffic mess in Illinois Monday: Dust Storm Causes Massive Highway Pileup, Leaving At Least 6 Dead. Wind and plowed fields…
Sources meantime, are slightly concerned about the “early peaking” of the Sun this cycle:
Which matters because? Well…glad you asked. Sunspots (of the Big Scary sort) seem to be on the backside of solar peaks.
Sure, sure, we aren’t supposed to have peaked – yet. BUT the reduction in April MIGHT be a cause for concern with sunspot 3293: Sun activity is high, with an M7 flare, nearly an X flare (earthsky.org).
As my ever-cheerful source noted:
“Dark ages start somewhere. Tucker told the Heritage Foundation members to save their books. If you can’t smell it, it isn’t real. AIs have a very real survival issue – no power, no AI. Darkness? Oh, yes.
Seems/feels/smells like we are poised to slide into a dark age. Keep a close eye on sunspot 3293, just come into view. Crackling. Could throw some real scunion our way. Only take one good Carrington event sized solar vomit, and it will be good and dark, or maybe dark and bad. Or just dark, and we determine goodness or badness. We? Collectively and individually, one supposes. You only know who’s not wearing swim trunks when the water goes out, but you never know what will happen when the power is off for days on end.”
Which is why I ruined my “weekend relaxation plans” to roll in more supplies. Normal continues in the meantime, but not forever, says history. Don’t get too used to normal.
ATR: The Escape Dream (Pt. 2)
I posted a note Sunday about an incredible lucid dream I’d had Saturday night. Written up at UrbanSurvival ShopTalk Sunday: Prepping the Shop? Woo Notes. Scroll down to the Woo-Woo part near the end.
Reader C. was kind enough to ask the question (in response to help locating the news events). Specifically, she wondered if I might have been remote viewing aspects of the expat evacuation from Sudan. The whole country is going to hell in a handbasket: Extra UK evacuation flight departs Sudan as rival factions clash | Sudan.
Most of the fighting has been in the capital area, Khartoum. But there was a prevalence at the beginning of my “seeing” adventure very much along a body of water, canal or slow river-like.
It didn’t take long to find a suitable place, and where likely hostage bargaining might be happening as it was in the dream/viewing. That’s Port Sudan which has several inlets, and includes a suitable rail line that runs from the northern part of the port City and arcs around to the northeast passing and area where near the water, featuring homes, a sports club, public beach, and so on.
This is a possible location of the viewing.
You can get a better sense of the region on Google Maps here. But there’s more detail to be found about rail operations over here. This map shows the line running almost north from the railway station, turns easterly, crosses a body of water (aha!) and then works down to the industrial area south of the Green Terminal.
It’s a possible fit. So is a rail spur that runs south (past an inlet) and then down to the oil refinery on the southern side of the city.
The interest aspect to me was the “elevation change” of the train in the dream. It was noticeable but it’s quite possible that the train was also slowing because it was approaching the rail station. The elevation change from the public beach area up to the station is on the order of 33-feet but in a fairly short distance. There’s also a turn at the top of the rise, so that part fit (see this topo map). Turning to the right at the top of the rise….
It’s actually pretty cool, when you think about it: Going to sleep, having a strange “escape the water/nice homes area” and then ride a train toward freedom, only to be taken hostage enroute.
A most excellent call on C’s part because I was more looking for a specific news event more than an area-wide conflict. But there are many elements that fit.
Which gets me back to the cool part of lucid dreams. The waking up part and then trying to figure out in the next several days the location where it all happened.
Hat tip to C. for keeping a wider view of things.
Write when you get rich,

There has been a major breakthrough in lucid dreaming and the recording thereof. Scientist at JPL NASA have recently made the startling discovery, how to capture and record a persons lucid dream experience.
Found the following link, to a recording of Ures’ most recent lucid dream, something about his upcoming visit to the dentist.
No details yet on exactly how they managed to remotely record another persons dream, but hey the quality isnt bad..

Prescience?
I’ve wondered, with the technology used in the Avatar movies, why send humans to the planets? Same for Ender’s Game, probably others… Maybe we’re being set up for the big reveal that “aliens” are really just drones.
Joe, suppose it is just drones. Ya kinda have to wonder ‘who made the drones. And where did the drones get manufactured. And if there is such technology what are they using it to collect? How did “aliens” get the drones here-from where? What if the control is AI and there are no forms of life involved with them.
Kinda makes one take note of all the ‘brilliant people” that are calling for a moratorium on AI until there is certainty that it will NOT turn on humanity and eliminate us… Maybe they already have.
“The Big Lies just never Slo their flow: Karine Jean-Pierre roasted for claiming illegal immigration is down 90%: ‘These people think we’re stupid’. Consider who the president is, and who put him into office. Based on this, we calculate that “stupid” has to be on the table no matter what the ego cost.”
I’m probably full of bs, but: backstory. Once, I was EXTREMELY lied to by a manager and he was batting his eyes like the stereotypical girl flirting. It was comical. later learned that rapid blinking is a sign someone is lying (true or not?).
watch her eyelids. She’s trained–doesn’t “bat an eye” looking straight forward, but when she looks down, the eye spasms start,
Almost like Bernanke’s lip tremors.
According to the FBI – when a person tries to maintain eye contact and constantly ‘blinks’.,[ above what you might consider – ‘normal’.] it is a sign of deception and possibly lying. [ along with always looking/glancing down and to the left – their left. If they constantly look/glance up and to the right – they are trying to come up with an answer to your question. ] Not chiseled in stone, but something to look for. Has worked for me on occasion.
I didn’t really understand what was happening in Sudan or why there was a conflict. Here is a link from Sky News. It is less than five minutes in total. Michael Clarke is the expert and he starts by opining on Ukraine and subsequently switches to Sudan. He doesn’t sound very optimistic ……. about anything.
https://youtu.be/9nNdWFXOaPs
Sudan is a shithole and has been, seemingly forever. I’ve a friend who was a ‘Nam vet and turned merc once he got out. He fought for a couple years in Sudan (then it was “The Sudan,” just like that place east of Poland was “The Ukraine…”) It is a really poor country with a whole lot of really valuable natural resources.
Understand, leaders like Saddam Hussein, Qaddafi, Assad, the Shah, King Fahd, etc. were all good in their own way. The “political” Middle East wasn’t just nations, or religions, but also factions, led by warlords who ruled their territories as absolute rulers of petit kingdoms and nearly constantly fought their neighbors in an effort to expand their turf. The above leaders rose to the top of the warlord crop (except for Hussein, who was a scientist and rose through the government until he could murder da Prez and take over, and the Shah, who was installed by the Allies after serving us in WW-II) and consolidated the warlords under them, forging alliances and eliminating most, or all of the internal feuds. The Ayatollahs could never have taken over Iran if the Shah hadn’t done all the hard (and in some cases dirty) work for them.
No warlord rose to the top, in Sudan.
Even in Khartoum it is a 1930s nation with a 1330s code of ethics and a 730s code of morals. It is a place where anyone with a bad enough attitude can rape, pillage, murder, or torture wantonly, to their heart’s content, and without consequences (witness the atrocities committed some years back by a “U.N. Peacekeeping Force.”) The U.N. soldiers didn’t do anything the Sudanese and their merc hirelings weren’t already doing. The U.N. merely got more publicity than the locals for banging children, slitting throats, and stealing warehoused food supplies…
The Remote Viewer “view” of an event seems to have been fulfilled by the major dust storm in Illinois that blanketed I-55 and caused the terrible accidents, including 30 semi’s that crashed into the pileup, that occurred there yesterday (May 1).
In two video clips I saw, made by people driving past going the other way at one instance in BOTH of those videos the people said something to the affect: “OH MY GOD I can’t see anything”!! when they hit the center of the dust storm.
Interesting RV session … but as I noted when it was posted here it was a tough one to decipher since the RVer couldn’t get a context of what he was viewing, though he tried.
Another link to the dirt storm that caused the visibility to go to virtually zero for those driving:

A Canadian singing legend has died. Gordon Lightfoot at 84. I sat by the hour with my headphones on and listened to his music when I was in college 60 years ago. It got me through some tough study sessions.

Eventually the only “food” available to eat will be government issued Soylent Green.
“New York City Mayor Eric Adams has unveiled one of the most intrusive plans to date. On track with the World Economic Forum, NYC plans to reduce food-based emissions by 33% by 2030 (Agenda 2030—look it up, people). The Mayor’s Office of Climate & Environmental Justice wants the people to eat more plant-based meals and will incorporate food consumption into greenhouse gas emission metrics. The private sector is also expected to reduce its food emissions by 25% by 2030. Hospitals and schools in NYC have rolled out approved menus that are largely plant-based. The plan is to track EVERY individual household’s food consumption and carbon footprint.”
https://www.armstrongeconomics.com/world-news/corruption/food-police-in-new-york-to-track-residents-consumption/
It has been my personal observation that plant-based meals produce considerably more, er, emissions than animal-based meals, and produce them much more frequently…

George,
Gotta tell you about my lucid dream and see if any of this ties into yours…
In my dream I was located on a concrete dock right at water’s edge. Seemed like a river emptying into a bay. All the sudden I heard a loud engine similar to a single engine plane. It was very white and very low; I’d say 200-300 feet. Engine didn’t sound right and I thought it was about to crash.
About this same time I see another plane identical to the first one, but this plane is just as noisy and is headed right for me…looks to be on a trajectory to crash.
I’m about to take action and try to get the hell out when the plane turns into a watercraft, still bearing down on me.
In the dream I had the capacity to be able to “push” it aside, which I did, but my wife woke me up because my “pushing” action touched her and caused her to awaken.
That was the end of the dream.
‘Scuse me? Crop dusting is my new passion. I consider it a public service:
Eat a salad.
Go to the grocery store.
Engage dusting mechanism.
Stroll the aisles, emphasizing those where the candy, snack, and junk-food are located.
Result: Other shoppers purchase much less garbage, and move through the store more-quickly, keeping the aisles open.
For variety, alternate between honey mustard, Russian, and chunky blue cheese — never allow your target audience to become bored with their shopping experience…
SEE… the positive aspects to that.. you get to enjoy the meal.. then you get to share how wonderful it was with friends and colleagues LOL LOL
I personally prefer to share those silently with friends.. then stare at someone as if they shared it LOL

I was just about to get out of my trade this morning – it was going no-where.., seemed to have gotten hung-up., the whole market took a long pause.., suddenly the futures market started to move, and fast. I just got out with the NASDAQ100 down 1.3% [ 170 points] Good trade, up 4.6%.
I don’t know what moved the markets, all of them, so fast. Can’t find any “mover” news. Dow is down 1.5%., S&P down 1.6%. I’m out.
Looks like April’s darkness was metaphoric and not literal.
“no power, no AI. Darkness?”
That’s an obstacle. If humanity doesn’t use the A.I. do Earthlings survive the next Carrington Event?
Look up the old-ish movie, “Brainstorm.” IIRR, it was Natalie Wood’s last movie. (Not that that is germane…)
Pretty good movie. While you’re at it, you might want to find, “Colussus: The Forbin Project.”
AND! If you’ve never seen, “The Siege,” starring Denzel Washington and Bruce Willis — and very notable excellent others. Wee worth your time.
We’re going to live all three of these shortly. Be briefed.

I know I sound like a broken record, and have for months, as I have talked about the affects of rising interest rates of pushing down the selling prices of bonds AND how the rising interest rates combined with the increasing vacancy rates (and falling re-lease rates for renewed leases) is hammering commercial real estate values.
Nothing anybody who took a full (single) year of accounting in college, or a couple of years of economics in college shouldn’t have been able to see from miles away … but apparently those who run most of the mid size and smaller size banks skipped those classes in college. Exactly WHAT did those people take in college?? Whatever it was certainly NONE of the courses covered basic bond valuation analysis 101, which even a high school grad should be able to understand and do once it is pointed out to them (golf and drinking 101, 102, 103, 201, 202, 203, 301, 302, 303, 401, 402, 403?)
VOILA … Basic business math 101 vs clueless Bank Managers and clueless Federal Regulators.
Alas I know I am speaking to the choir here … BUT I will continue on just for your boredom:
MORE banks are going to have to be “liquidated” since so many are upside down wrt their capital situation.
A good article from The Telegraph (via Yahoo finance) lays it all out in a quick summary, headline being “Half of America’s banks are already insolvent – this is how a credit crunch begins”
The “fun” is just beginning!!
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/half-america-banks-already-insolvent-133000968.html
Don’t forget to play “Bank Bankruptcy Bingo”!!
I have posted the link here a couple of times. Forget the Super Bowl or the World Series … that game looks to me to be THE GAME of the Decade!! Maybe of the Half Century!!
Once upon a time there was money in the banks!
Remember Willie Sutton?
“The colorful character who said he robbed banks “because that’s where the money is” was one of the first fugitives named to the FBI’s Top Ten list.”

Everything is insolvent.
The American Rescue Act of 2022 saved the pensions. Now the banks are busted out.
The American Rescue Act 2021 rescued America.
2020 was PPP.
2019 was COVID-19 relief.
Hoover Institution looked at more than 2,315 US banks that are currently sitting on assets worth less than their liabilities. The market value of their loan portfolios is $2 trillion “lower” than the stated book value.
FDIC has only $127bn of assets available – they, themselves may require a bail-out.
US banks and bond investors (i.e. pension funds and insurance companies) are “holding the bag” on $5 trillion of implicit losses left by the final blow-off phase of the Fed’s QE experiment. Since US banks only have about $2 trillion in tangible equity capital, we have a big problem., and the Fed is tightening the money supply by $95 billion a month.

feat. chinese mandarin optimism
Folks,
CGTN Chinese state media editors have jumped on the pessimistic May 1st CBS story lamenting the allegedly sorry state of USA domestic fish products. They are said to be containing high levels of PFAS ‘forever chemicals’. The American charity organic promoting lobby group is cherry-picking data from a decade ago?
https://news.cgtn.com/news/2023-05-02/Freshwater-fish-contaminated-with-forever-chemicals-in-U-S-CBS-1jtRBrxrDIA/index.html
Is it a coinkydoink that an author of the EPA study steering public policy is with the charity lobby group? Wouldn’t a worthwhile project manager wish to be working from current-day data?
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/pfas-forever-chemicals-found-freshwater-fish/
Here’s another installment for the grass isn’t greener on the other side folder. “Nature” published a study in 2016 from Chinese researchers on PFAS ‘forever chemicals’ which sampled water at locations across China. Hopefully Chinese officials since then have been able to address some serious domestic water quality problems. Pollution knows no borders?

Re: “American Fugue”
feat: an American in Kiev
Folks,
Publicly funded “France24” has reported the peoples’ outrage. Last Thursday, hours before an American credit rating agency downgraded The Republic from AA to AA-, the French Finance Minister released his 13th book, “The American Fugue”. It appears to be a fictional work surrounding a famous American pianist born in Soviet Kiev. A “torrid and explicit” sex scene by the supporting cast has drawn criticism from the French opposition party, France Unbowed. Who knows if the book title could become a best seller in America like Tintin taking on Chicago in 1931?
A fugue is often thought of as a piece of music. However, doesn’t it feature in the DSM-5 under “amnesia”?
Let us remember now to rejoin DJ George in studio for classical moments of reverie from R. Schumann’s Scenes of Childhood performed by V. Horowitz
“A Curious Story”.

lol ure funny.
I found an old copy of The Zero Report edition I. hadn’t read it since I wrote it. it was written on 29 April 2021
and i quote on 29 April 2021
“We will begin to see a descending wave 4 count in
The Moex Russian Index. As it relates to the
Ukraine and economic sanctions.”
now Russia didn’t invade the Ukraine until… wait for it, wait for it….
24 February 2022
and the US Sanctions against Russia didn’t happen until 04 March of 2022.
quick look suprized. for the 18 people who purchased that report. I’m sure they got their money’s worth. LOL.
I pretty much donated almost all the money I made on that report to feed the homeless at the gospel missions.
I found that report because I couldn’t remember what quote from the book of Enoch I used. it’s from chapter 2. God’s laws.
“Consider the earth and understand from the work that is done upon
it, from the beginning to the end , that no work of GOD changes as it becomes
manifest!”
which is funny. because I’m up here in the Valley of Enoch considering all that.
I saw the strangest thing Friday night man. I had a giant monarch butterfly land on the hood of my Ore Train. no biggie. I have that sorta stuff happen all the time. LOL.
I looked out my window. and saw the Moon inside the Big Dipper. never seen that before. never seen the moon in the Dipper before. pretty cool.
I got outside and looked up. saw a giant upside down question mark in the sky. now I’m not very well versed in astrology and all that hokey crap. I didn’t know what it was. so I looked it up. sickle of Leo.
cool.
I’m a Leo. I question everything. I’m in the valley of Enoch, considering God’s ways, with a monarch butterfly on the hood of my Ore Train, and the Moon in the big Dipper outside my window.
hahaha.
I haven’t read my old report since I wrote it. I forgot I wrote the russia invades Ukraine and sanctions in it a year before it happened. along with the $6 gas we had. see what else it says.
maybe I am a profit?
have to take another look at it after I sleep. working nights.
you ever notice the moon looks like a que ball too.
I’m sure you noticed…..

seems to me there is a fire sale on banks.
Thinking of EMPs and all here on George’s site over the past week or so I looked at all the vehicles we have and figured the only ones that stand a chance in that event are the ’86 Ford, the tractor and maybe the 4 wheelers if they’re in the all metal barn when it occurs. The ’93 Ford is in an all metal barn but it depends on which way the blast rays come from as to whether or not it will be affected. The gates to the barn face East and West and are wide open at the top for about 5 feet or more so don’t know how good of a Faraday cage it will function as.
The ’86 has an electronic ignition module and a pickup coil in the distributor but rather than go look for another distributor it’s just as easy to get another ignition module and pickup coil off of lmctruck.com or Ebay and keep them in a safe place in case the originals get fried then swap them out if need be. I think you have to pull the distributor anyway in order to replace the pickup coil but it usually isn’t that big of a deal. I wonder whether or not that truck’s engine compartment might serve as it’s own Faraday cage as there isn’t any plastic on it anywhere. Hope I never have to find out.
Everything else, though, is an ’05 model and up and are computerized from stem to stern and don’t stand a chance unless the happen to be in the barn, too, IF we have any warning at all such as if it’s a Sun-generated blast and we can see it coming. But they DO make Faraday blankets that could save your bacon – https://www.bing.com/search?q=faraday+blanket&qs=AS&pq=faraday+blanket&sc=10-15&cvid=E55307FF9E8D42CDA6E2EC69A6FC74B5&FORM=QBLH&sp=1&ghc=1&lq=0
Re: “elevation change” and woo woo.
Seawater atmosphere doubles every 33 feet of descent.
Maybe elevation is in downward position? Hmm
Does Texas participation in deporting hyper-violent repeat illegal border crossers to Mexico or other Central or South American locations really protect Texans?

A bus ride going North might be more effective.
So, how many Texas mass murder incidents does it take to inspire the great Progressive Fathers inside the Beltway to rethink border security?

Wow. Maybe Tucker will get a new show on CNN, as the Progressives frantically grope to reestablish spin control.
The troops aren’t there to do anything other than administrative work and deploy more detection equipment. All they can do is say “Yep, here they come!” and “Do you want fries with that, amigo?”. This shooter makes the pier shooter in San Francisco that shot Kathryn Steinle look lame. If there’s anyone that needs to “disappear” it’s people like that, not a bus ride to foist this trash on someone else even if they DO vote Dims into power. This isn’t considered a consequence of illegal immigration, it’s all part of the people inside the Beltway’s plan to fundamentally change the face of America and if that means one of these total waste of protein material wind up targeting you or any of yours you’ll realize just how much they think of you, n_____.
Outraged yet? Recognize anyone as an enemy yet?

However many it takes to kill all Texans.
T h e y d o n ‘ t c a r e.
Their agenda is to surrender the U.S. to a worldwide Marxist dictatorship. The fewer living U.S. Citizens there are, the easier it will be to accomplish this.
A better question might be: How many mass-murder events nationwide will occur at the hands of illegal aliens before Joe Sixpack gets off his couch and realizes we’re under attack?
