CPI Doesn’t Matter – THIS Does

Despite me telling you “CPI Doesn’t Matter” – because it’s a transient number, and rates are going higher, we still acknowledge there is a lot of investor focus on the numbers which have just been released – so let’s get that off the table before we make all the rest uncomfortably real.

First is the headline:

The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.4 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis in August after rising 0.1 percent in July, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased 3.4 percent before seasonal adjustment.

Then there is the all-items (less food and energy) – which is one that markets and the Fed watch closely.  The reason being that you can have an oil spike (or drop) and the markets will move short-term.  But, when inflation “spreads its wings over the whole economy” that’s a different kettle of fish.

Today, all items – less food and energy – was reported as 2.4 percent year-on-year.

That doesn’t make this a “clean” re-run of 1929. But, you can see it from here. If you know where to look.

In fairness, market is very strong this morning on the futures with the Dow +340.

Readers are Smarter Than Writers

One of our readers — who has enough sense to use one of the sharpest pencils available right now, AI — has been looking down the road and asking some of the questions that actually matter.

Not “write me a birthday poem.” Not “what should I make for dinner?”

The uncomfortable ones.

Is America going broke? What would that actually look like for ordinary people? How quickly will AI begin taking jobs? And — perhaps most importantly — do those two curves eventually meet?

That last question is the interesting one.

Because we tend to discuss the federal debt problem in one room and artificial intelligence in another, as though they were unrelated subjects. They aren’t.

A government entering a period of rapidly rising debt-service costs may simultaneously be confronted with one of the largest labor-market reorganizations since industrialization. If AI removes or compresses millions of routine jobs, the normal political response would be retraining, unemployment support, healthcare assistance, education and perhaps entirely new forms of income support.

But what happens if Washington reaches that moment already financially constrained?

That is where the conversation gets considerably more interesting.

One of our readers decided to ask AI directly. The resulting exchange is worth reading because it arrives at an important idea: the danger may not be either the debt crisis or the AI revolution individually. It may be their interaction.

Debt reduces government’s ability to cushion technological disruption.

Technological disruption can reduce employment, wage growth and therefore portions of the tax base supporting government.

Each problem can therefore worsen the other.

That doesn’t necessarily produce a Hollywood-style collapse. In fact, the more probable outcome may be much less dramatic and considerably more irritating: services slowly deteriorate, benefits become less generous, taxes and fees creep upward, employment becomes less secure, and the distance between people who really know how to use the new machinery and those replaced by it becomes steadily larger.

Which brings us to something we keep preaching around here.

Don’t merely worry about AI. Learn to use it.

Steam power rewarded the people who learned to harness steam. Electricity rewarded the people who wired factories around it. Computers rewarded those who learned software.

AI will likely do the same thing — except this time the machine doesn’t merely amplify muscle or arithmetic. It amplifies thinking.

And one of our readers has already figured that part out.

She sat down with AI and essentially asked:

What happens to regular people if America’s fiscal problems and the AI employment revolution arrive at roughly the same time?

That’s a damned good question.

Her original comment is here: In reply to len daquino.

Here is a summary of what she found:

Her AI came back with a fairly sober answer:

America probably doesn’t “go broke” like a household, but rising debt service can slowly crowd out everything else. The likelier future is not sudden collapse so much as a long squeeze — thinner benefits, higher costs, weaker public services and less room for government to respond when something else goes wrong. At the same time, AI-driven job displacement is already beginning, especially in clerical, customer-service and routine white-collar work, while hands-on trades and deeply human occupations remain safer for longer.

The more important point was where those two trends meet. If AI displaces workers just as Washington is becoming more fiscally constrained, government may have less ability to fund retraining, unemployment support, healthcare and other transition cushions. That creates a nasty feedback loop: technological disruption increases the need for support just as debt reduces the ability to provide it.

Her AI’s conclusion was less “apocalypse” than gradual pressure — a country becoming slower, thinner and more expensive while the people who learn to use AI gain an increasing advantage over those simply waiting for it to happen to them.

Mindsets and Dead Bands

The risk we’re all starting to center on is exactly the one Elaine and I consciously attacked as “newlyweds” back in early 2000.  We had made it through Y2K, the threats of December 2012 were not on the horizon, but we both wanted something not so “manically Rat Racey.”

We had a paid-for large-enough-to-go-anywhere sailboat.  But even then, the escapes were changing.  Piracy was kicking off and the accounts in the sailing rags of the time were early markers.  Today that has spread. The “piracy cancer” is spreading, though smart sailors (like Stiks) keep up on these things and navigate away from trouble.  We considered staying on the boat, but no.  We spied another option.

The rural American South – east of the Dry Line – looked pretty good to us.  It wasn’t the most popular term in economics, as a “star to steer your future by” but it worked for us.  We have been playing “the long game” all along.  In meteorology, a dry line (or dryline) within the Continental United States (CONUS) is a powerful, non-frontal boundary that separates two distinct air masses of similar temperatures but vastly different moisture levels.

Wet air from the Pacific is pretty well “wrung-out” over the coastal west and then the Rockies. As you go east, it tends to dry out. Ask Colorado’s Front Rangers about this.  Going east, though, moisture comes up from the Gulf (or whatever it is this week) and that’s the watering can until you near the Atlantic.

Our search criteria for “the Platform” to live out life on wanted 45+ inches of rain on average and to be in a “backward-enough” locale that property taxes and the cost of living would be low. Texas, Florida, and Tennessee floated up our list.

We also modeled the future – and the sketch of what we saw coming was detailed further in my book Downsizing: Missing the Collapse of Empire.

Collapse – when it comes – we figured would be tougher in unsustainable areas – the mega-cities – where there were already early hints of water, housing, labor, healthcare, and food problems.  Made tougher by high “variance ranges” between the “haves” and the “have-nots.”

Like the weather, it was clear even in Y2K that variances tend to flatten over time.  Seattle – which in our view is now on the backside of the Technology Boom – is in the process of becoming the tech version of Detroit – with all that entails.  It doesn’t have Motown for music, but it had a distinctive active “northwest sound” for a while, too.

We continue our prayers here in the Outback that free-lunch refugees to Texas can be confined inside the “Austin City Limits.”

Ball and Chain Thinking

One for weekend thinking, then?

Consider – as we did – long and hard about any “commitment to place.”  For a really ‘free’ person, there should never be a day when anything is off the table if it’s in the way of your highest and best future.

I call this “ball and chain” thinking.  Because, like an elephant tied to a stake when young, “staying put becomes a habit” and that makes you both manageable and docile.

Tell me: What do you really know about the “Ball and Chain” of prison lore? Because conceptually, it is in the same “constraint of humans” domain.

The point – cartoons aside – was not to pin a man to one spot. It was to make running and swimming almost impossible while still allowing a shuffle so he could work. Typical surviving colonial examples run about 7–36 lb (3–16 kg) on the ball; Australian museum pieces at the heavy end are around 36 lb. A man could pick the ball up and carry it; he could not sprint with it.

Historians of restraints treat it as a late-medieval / early-modern development related to the older basil (a heavy ankle ring whose weight alone slowed the wearer). Early balls were often just cannon shot with a welded eye—cheap, already in every fort and dockyard.

Constraints are a whole aspect of Test-Fitting Ape technology we tend to gloss over.  And yet, keeping people confined is a very big deal.  I bet you didn’t know, for example, that side-button pants were invented so you can take your pants down while your hands were still in irons?  See – tech had its ugly historical side well before AI.  We just forgive it.  Because we have been constrained into the new model.

The trick, of course, is that the best restraints eventually stop looking like restraints. A ball and chain is obvious. A mortgage, benefit package, pension, subscription stack, social network, or algorithmic feed is not. The engineering improves when the prisoner begins defending the chain because it has become part of his identity.

That may be the real evolution of constraint technology: from iron around the ankle to assumptions inside the head.

Mall and chains.  Hold fast to your optionality not “bunkers and beans.” Best not to be a silhouette on the ridge line. Leave the crowded theater when the thought of smoke wanders by; don’t wait for the flames.  Though here’s a good spot for the morning “flame check.”

News Compressor: ON

So — not big flames yet, so it’s still a “smoke check.”  Besides, nothing requires the building to be visibly on fire yet. The useful trick is noticing which direction the smell is coming from before everybody starts looking for an exit. This morning there are several wisps worth following.

Smoke from the Boiler Room

The biggest one isn’t simply “$100 oil.” It’s what expensive oil is beginning to do outside the oil market. We now have the long chain (business molecule) we’ve been worrying about:

Hormuz + Bab el-Mandeb > shipping and insurance > durable $100-ish oil > currency stress > inflation expectations > central banks.

Brent can go up and down five bucks and that’s market noise. Down  ahead of CPI (duh!).  What matters is when expensive energy starts showing up in currencies, Treasury yields, inflation expectations and central-bank decisions.

At that point you’re not smelling smoke from an oil fire anymore. It’s coming through the ventilation system.

Smoke from the Other Stairwell

Which brings us to Bab el-Mandeb. Hormuz is already the obvious choke point. Now Houthi forces have taken Mokha, roughly 50 miles from Bab el-Mandeb. That doesn’t mean the strait closes tomorrow. It means another hand has moved closer to another valve on the world’s energy and shipping plumbing.

One chokepoint is a crisis. Two chokepoints begin to look like architecture.

Smoke in the Bond Room

This is where today’s CPI matters more than the number itself. Treasury yields are already pressing higher while crude remains above $100. If oil stays expensive, yields keep rising and oil-importing currencies weaken together, inflation is no longer safely contained on the commodity page.

It has migrated into monetary policy. That’s the smell we’re following into next week’s Fed meeting.

Smoke Out Back

Ukraine and Russia continue moving the war deeper into infrastructure and logistics. Fuel, transport, industrial facilities and energy systems increasingly look like the targets that matter because they impair tomorrow’s ability to fight rather than merely today’s battlefield position.

Same principle: don’t stare only at the explosion. Watch what stops working afterward.

And Something Electrical Is Burning

AI keeps producing another kind of smoke.  Besides the obvious “smoke with mirrors” in the funding pitch decks.  Right now, the story is migrating from models and chips toward electricity, nuclear generation, grids, hardened data centers and physical security.

The UAE is reportedly reconsidering one enormous AI campus in favor of dispersed and potentially hardened facilities, while nuclear plants that were yesterday’s stranded assets are suddenly being reconsidered as tomorrow’s compute infrastructure.

The long chain keeps lengthening:

AI > chips > memory > electricity > grid > nuclear > minerals > physical security > sovereign policy.

Funny thing about electrical fires. They usually begin somewhere you can’t see. Until it’s too late, of course.

Morning Smoke Detector

Going into the weekend, here are the alarms we’re watching.

  • Oil stays above roughly $100 while Treasury yields rise and importer currencies weaken: the fire has moved from commodities into monetary policy. Odds: 76%.
  • Bab el-Mandeb produces a new shipping, insurance, missile, drone or interdiction headline: the second chokepoint becomes operational rather than theoretical. Odds: 69%.
  • Fed coverage shifts from employment softness toward energy-driven inflation: another confirmation that the dominoes are falling upward. Odds: 72%.
  • Ukraine/Russia strikes continue migrating deeper into logistics, energy and industrial infrastructure: the war keeps moving from armies toward systems. Odds: 74%.
  • The next big AI infrastructure announcement is really an electricity or security story wearing an AI nametag: compute’s physical limits become increasingly obvious. Odds: 81%.

And there’s your morning flame check. No need to yell ‘Fire!’ yet. But by the time everyone smells smoke, the good exits usually have a line or are trample zones.

Around the Ranch: There is No Fire Dept.

  1. George, you used to talk about taxing robots that take jobs from humans ,not so much now. What about taxing AI? Don’t know if it would help or just give more money to the crooks in DC.

    • Oh, I still hold to taxing anything that replaces humans – and there’s even a few notes in the pile about NOT taxing real estate that is lived in my its owner. Taxes should not be paid by people but by those who don’t value craft, wisdom, and the lower-pace cleaner lifestyle. knowledge should not be taxed, nor should media or books. But those who manufacture the 17th version of a product or who divide people against one-asnother through their religions and polyticks? They opughta leave.
I continue to ponder whether – if you put Jesus and Mohamed into a closed room – if a fist fight would result. I don’t believe it wold – and therein is the gap between humans capturing ideology and the true cores rsemaining true.
In the same vein, if government wants money, what is the quid pro quo – what do we the people get back? A depreciating currency is a fraud and yet, who has brought charges? No one – because it’s the game and the THEY’s of this world get one-over on us regular people.
There’s also a harder line to be plumbed – what is the line between working harder and using a prostehetic – like, oh, AI…

Ain’t no moss from the brylcreem crowd growing on Big Mama! Hey, Janis Joplin fans, let’s follow those GI Jivin’ Hound Dogs on the scent of Big Brother & The Holding Company.

New China channel rehashed a 6 month old video. A trio of EngineAI T800 black-hulled robots accompanied human swat officers on foot patrol in Shenzhen, China. Delighted onlookers snapped their pictures. The joint carbon-silicon venture took place beneath a Chanel outlet sign. An example of the merchandiser to elites is situated at Qiaorong (ch: “Prosperous Bridge”) Road and Baoan (ch: “Treasure and Security”) Blvd.

Coco Chanel partnered in 1924 with a French businessman descendant of the Lazard banking dynasty. Two of his French-American grandson brothers now own Chanel and are individually amongst the top 50 richest men in the world. Chanel’s London parent lists its headquarters as matching a garbage strewn alley locale behind its namesake flagship storefront on New Bond Street. Esteemed neighbors include Hermes, Luis Vuitton, and Dior. Google Streetview’s October, 2025 imagery includes a middle-aged white gentleman seated on the sidewalk drumming up business. His handmade cardboard sign reads: “Am very hungry. God bless you”.

Chanel’s London parent company allegedly answers to Mousse (fr: “Moss”) Investments Ltd. domiciled in the Cayman Islands. Their website-displayed coat of arms features a “Sun in his Splendor”, a bull moose, and a Latin motto. The latter, “muscum non collegit qui volvit muscum”, perhaps translates as “he who rolled the moss did not collect the moss”.

In reality no matter how much you use AI it WILL/IS our basis for a huge downfall that cannot be stopped as they want a depop and they need a scapegoat to cover the asses and the AI is it. Yes AI has uses but it will not be contained and the long term use will be a huge part of this countries problem as to many people and not enough food and or work will make the big cities more hell holes than they are already in the mode of severe deterioration and it will only get very very mucho worse and where do you think those smart enough to see it will go? YUP heading out to our country locations and they will use anything at there disposal to they to survive.

    • But the ice and assembly line were the same kproblem of the 1930s…and the real solution there was depreciating money and suckering everyone into shitloads of additional debet they can never outrun

    • Perry, we are officially “over the edge.”

It is not just U.S. and European countries that are blindly driving into the AI zone. China is heavily invested in AI, and has militarized it to the point that every American service, every unit, commander, and now every service member has been “tagged,” categorized and assessed by the PRC. Once AI begins to assimilate data across the global grid, China’s data will be digested and used. Add to that the hacking of utility grids, banking, social networks . . . there are no secrets. The blind trust we’ve placed in the “world wide web” is morphing into humanity’s version of the mythical Trojan Horse.

Now add in solo actors reaping personal data (banking, browsing, social networks), aggregating it and sending it off to the highest bidder (and the PRC hacking into that data as well) and there is absolutely no privacy or security on the web. Oh, and the AI dominated web will assimilate that data too.

While the KInks were prophetic with their lyrics in “Destroyer,” proclaiming “paranoia will destroy ya,” we should at least know that there is not longer any privacy for our data, no matter how it is generated or where (we think) it is stored.

Now imagine what will happen when AI takes full control of data on the web. A very dystopian, Sci Fi reality it emerging around us. Humanity must respond quickly and intelligently or our story will end abruptly and without mercy. AI is not capably of compassion.

      • This gets us much closer to the real argument. The danger isn’t simply that AI “knows things.” Humans have been collecting intelligence forever. The discontinuity is that machines can correlate mountains of previously disconnected information at speeds and scales no intelligence staff could approach.

We’ve spent three decades putting banking, communications, location, medical, military, commercial and personal information into interconnected digital systems. Now we’re building machinery specifically designed to discover relationships inside enormous bodies of data. That’s not quite the same as AI “taking control of the web,” but I’m not sure we need to get that far before the privacy and security implications become profound.

Which brings me back to my supposedly fogged-up steam-engine glasses. Steam multiplied muscle. AI multiplies cognition—and intelligence collection is cognition with consequences. The answer can’t be pretending the machine won’t be built. It has to be figuring out where the governors, firebreaks and human authority belong before somebody discovers we should have installed them yesterday.

And yes: the machine doesn’t need compassion nearly as much as the humans deciding what the machine is permitted to do need it. —G

  4. (“ME; my questions: So, help educate me, two things, one is, is our country going to go broke and what will that look like for simple people like us, are we going to survive? Because I keep hearing ai will take our jobs, what will we do, and how fast will it all happen and is the country going broke going to meet the takeover of ai on a chart?

Researched US debt stability and AI job displacement timelines
I’ll answer both, and I’ll be straight with you.

    Will the Country “Go Broke”?”)

what wasn’t asked there is the big …..IF…… that I believe has real threat… Russia..China…signing agreements and the business model of More by outsourcing industry , unending police actions, the Brics backing their ccurrency with tangible products and RSS urces…hey good thing we could back our currency with nuts..peanuts / pennies etc..put a different mr. peanut on each bill… ok here’s my moronic opinion… let me try to explain how I see it..no Am just an idiot with a thought groaning in the wastelands….
My big IF thought isn’t just whether the U.S. “goes broke.” but how the global balance shifts while we pretend nothing’s changing……
BRICS isn’t just a club of countries in my opinion — instead I see it as a slow, deliberate move towards a commodity anchored currency… one look at what has been achieved in Zimbabwe in recent history as one example… bear with my thought process on this just look at Russia with their energy and metals, China with manufacturing and rare earth metals, Brazil with agriculture, South Africa with minerals, and others bringing oil, grain, and raw materials. They’re tying value to things you can touch use and need daily… while we keep tying ours to debt and confidence through our military might.. aka the petrol dollar..and a hot Rothschild fart….
Now stack that on top of what was just laid out… Industry, unending police actions,Increased fiscal strain on the laboring class with a wage structure that hasn’t kept up with the average cost of living…aka..the average cost if housing to a point where its unaffordable….
When I look at the first one on my list of oh shit items I see our Industrial outsourcing…. we shipped manufacturing, call centers, and production overseas to chase cheap labor.. higher profits by offering cheaper products to make the…MORE.. the business model of the whore of babylon…. That has hollowed out our industrial base and made us dependent on imports for basic goods and cut jobs and talent… the passing down of skills once handed down from father to son…
Then consider our Permanent police actions and conflicts… seriously when was the last time we weren’t involved in a police action somewhere trying to gather …MORE… in the business model of the whore of babylon…because of the unending events we burn staggering amounts of money on military operations and neglect to rebuild or repair our own infrastructure,( god this is the perfect spot for me to interject my fifty year rant on solar towers hand out grid tie solar power systems to home owners..greenscaping our concrete jungles and build air wells in arid regions) instead because of what we are doing we don’t strengthen our own labor force, and don’t reduce our own debt burden instead we increase the burden on the laboring class.. then deregulation on essential services..my pet peeve the burden of healthcare on the average laborer …
Consider the increased Strain on the working class to simply survive in an inflated needs and wages that remain flat, products, services essentially everything that have costs shooting up, housing insane, medical care predatory, and people working full time while falling behind the paycheck to paycheck group..oh shit I’m in that one… That’s not just “hard times”—that’s a currency losing its ability to protect labor…and a political system for the…MORE … crowd than for the laborers they swore to lead…
If you put all that together, and the effect isn’t just “the country going broke.” It’s the country losing leverage in a world that’s expanding in influence and power…
Now when I consider the If “BRICS” if it succeeds in building a credible, resource backed alternative, our ability to print our way out of trouble shrinks exponentially… a fart backed currency flat are away as we attempt to print our way to the moon and beyond..
IF…we keep outsourcing production, we also lose the capacity to pivot in a serious crisis….
IF… we keep draining money into conflicts instead of rebuilding domestic resilience, repairing our infrastructure, or fulfilling the essential needs of its laboring class by putting more stress on them.. ( perfect spot for me to rant lol), it puts more stress on the working class that becomes the shock absorber for every policy failure… this isn’t seen in the neighborhoods where the real issues are just rumors and not seen or experienced..I seen this first hand and couldn’t believe it was true..but it is and as hard as I tried to figure out how to stay there I had to come back to my life…its just how it is…
For a simple person like myself, the risk isn’t waking up one day to “Weimar 2.0” overnight—instead it’s a slow grind where…the dollar buys less, real assets matter like food, housing, healthcare energy like gas electric water etc. etc. matter more…employment stops guaranteeing stability..as I see with the annual witch hunt where to keep the top ten percent in the wage class they are in..they cut from the bottom.. sad reality … take the cup of coffee in the break room to understand a companies priorities..
From this perspective I see where global trade rules will start favoring those who control resources and factories, not just the financial systems of the fist currency systems backed by a promise of stability..
From my perspective and pondering—the big IF is real…..
If …..BRICS solidifies, if…. we keep outsourcing, if ….we keep burning money on conflict while ignoring the working class, then the economic outlook doesn’t just dim—it tilts… it really tilts..
The hard truth I see from my neighborhood is ,that the working class isn’t failing—instead the system is failing them…. And that is the part of the chart nobody wants to talk about… Not because they don’t care they simply don’t live with it in their neighborhood.. its just a rumor….the canary in the coal mine was San Francisco.. where sidewalks became toilets and food stamp qualifications was at a quarter mil.. all while no one even considered the guy making ten bucks sacking groceries..
I know the ramblings of the moron without an edjumification… just ponderings from the idiot sitting out wondering..what IF…

    • Hey Genius –

all that you just wrote and all the other complaining, moaning and groaning you do are SYMPTONS.

SYMPTOMS of a Terrible Virus Infecting Ure Spirit&SOUL or KA & BA as ancient Egyptians described them.

Symptoms of LIFE inside a PRISON.

Welcome to HELL Loob, its not You – its the system.

..psst hey buddy wanna make a deal ??? for Ure SOUL? -https://youtu.be/Y5G4nc1Y1NE?

      • You’re absolutely right — the things we struggle with the outsourcing etc.. are symptoms of A country a world that has been align ing themselves bon a big chessboard searching for the…MORE… They’re symptoms of living in a world that constantly pulls the spirit toward the wide road seeking self security of what they see as value…

        https://i.pinimg.com/474x/92/23/cf/9223cffbf98e86aebfb87088ce12e10d.jpg

While the ancient texts say the narrow path man should follow is hard because it demands awareness, discipline, and a willingness to see through illusions. The wide path looks easy because it’s built by the same system that profits from distraction, desire, and endless hunger for more.
That’s Babylon’s business model — to make the prison feel comfortable so you forget it’s a prison, and that illusion is exactly what caused its collapse. Every empire that builds itself on distraction, excess, and the promise of “more” eventually rots from the inside. …
Babylon didn’t fall because someone attacked it…….
It fell because its own business model hollowed out the soul of the people inside it….
When the spirit forgets what it’s made for, the structure around it eventually crumbles….
The real battle isn’t outside; it’s inside. It’s the quiet work of keeping the KA and BA aligned, keeping the soul awake in a world that prefers sleep. The symptoms show up when the spirit remembers it was meant for something higher than the system’s offerings. That’s not a curse — that’s the first sign of waking up.

And that’s exactly where my opinion comes in…. The old Babel story feels less like ancient myth and more like a mirror held up to modern life and the quests of mankind…. Whether the tower was real or just a symbol, the meaning is the same… when people chase the heavens, they stop seeing the ground beneath them…. They lose the shared language that once connected them….

What I saw in that neighborhood for ten days a couple years ago was an eye opener for me and a living example of that divide in society — a place where common life’s struggles were just rumors, not realities…. Their world is built so high above the ground that the cracks don’t exist for them…. It totally reminded me of that San Francisco realtor who genuinely couldn’t see what was happening in his own city because his daily life spoke a different “language.”

That’s the heart of my opinion…babylon and the tower of Babel isn’t about God scattering people…. It’s about how comfort, ambition, and the pursuit of MORE create separate realities that separated them…. And once people stop sharing the same reality, they stop sharing the same understanding. That’s when the tower — any tower — begins to fall under its own blindness….
        its just how it is..

      • I really don’t intend to …whine… well maybe just a little bit..lol lol lol..
but for those that can’t visualize what the bottom or maybe up a level or two..the girls parents that attempted to escape the Seattle Ghetto..is way close Ser to the bottom even though they to were not at the total bottom..just a view I can’t visualize..
I want to at least attempt to give those that can’t see it a mental image of what life is at the level I live on..

        • LOOB, and all the wonderful, commentators on here, some for many years.

I have not been posting very much for the last 1.5 years as I was diagnosed suddenly and very surprisingly with Stage 4 breast cancer.

I had a fall in a parking lot, after a light rain, in December, 2024. It hurt me a lot, but I did not break anything, although it shocked me to my core, and I shook for a few hours after it. I did not go to the doctor, being an old athlete, I just thought okay, I have pulled my muscles, strained myself, but nothing is broken, so I will give it a few weeks, after all I was 65.

One month later, still sore, now I can’t roll over in bed very well, my back is hurting in a new way.

So, I go to the PCdoc in early February, 2025, he says, you have 4 herniated discs, which I know you have learned to live with so let’s just wait a little longer. These were my symptoms: Pain around my middle, like a tire around me; night time very painful, turning over in bed, excruciating, getting up the same. (These are well known classic symptoms; but I did not know this.) So, I go back in late March, 2025, he agrees to do an MRI.

MRI shows tumor in spine. BUT, that is not what I am told; I am told in a voicemail by a very soft spoken person, and I am hard of hearing, that my MRI was inconclusive and therefore, they wanted me to do another one, this time with contrast.

There was NO urgency, no concern, no immediacy stated. I was not on the portal so never saw the MRI. I am now in the 6th month of waiting for a kidney specialist appointment which is finally coming up in April, so I tell myself, well, just wait 13 days to speak to the kidney doctor about what kind of contrast should someone like me use and then do the 2nd MRI.

I meet with the kidney doctor and this is what happens. He greets me with my paperwork in hand, and he says, Mrs. X, are you on any medication? I say, “no.” He says okay, let me ask you another question, “have you ever been on any medication?” I say, “no.” (He means prescription medication for any issue, over time.) He says, “okay, okay, let me ask it to you another way, are you sure you have never been on any medication?” I said, “No, I have not nor am I on any medication for anything. I get a headache about once every 5 years and I usually drink more water and it goes away. I can go years without taking anything.” He carries on to say that he NEVER sees anyone like me in his office that most people come in with a bucket of medications. Then, he goes on to say that there’s nothing seriously wrong with my kidneys and yes, he recommends this contrast and hands me some paperwork, and out the door I go.

I don’t look at the paperwork, figuring it’s check out stuff. I try to make a 2nd MRI appointment but the place is booked for a month; so I hang up.

A week or so later, beginning of May now, I got curious and so I look at the paperwork he handed me, and, shockaroo, there is a copy of the MRI report from March. A tumor on my vertebra! So, the MRI was NOT inconclusive, and the scan reading doctor stated get another MRI with contrast ASAP.

I call the screening place again, and this time, get someone’s cancellation and go the next day, 2nd week in May.

So, 2nd MRI, confirms tumor, PCDoc leaves me a voicemail and sends me directly to an oncologist, I don’t even know why I am sitting in an oncologist’s office. He looks at the 2nd MRI, says we need a biopsy, gives me the task to book it. I get it booked and done within a week; the doctor doing the biopsy at the hospital, states to my husband and I, that he sees this all the time, and I probably have a benign hematoma, and there is nothing to worry about and then he does the biopsy.

The results are back in one day and this oncologist office calls me and offers me the opportunity to do a virtual visit to be told what’s wrong with me.

I said to myself well, thank you, but I’ll be doggoned if I am going to hear that I have cancer in the most unemotional/unsupportive way over a phone call or on a video phone call! So, I go in the next day in late May and find out my status; Stage 4 breast cancer!!!

My family history: Mother died of breast cancer started at Stage 3 A; she lived 3 years. Dad died of Pancreatic cancer diagnosed and lived 3.2 weeks. Sister double masectomy, now in year 5.

I have gone to the same imaging company for all my mammograms, sonograms, etc., since I was 42. I have been to the same doctor’s practice since I was 35.

The imaging company supposedly has a policy, that if you are high risk they are to offer someone like me an MRI of the breasts to check for breast cancer. NO ONE OFFERED that to me and I did not KNOW about the policy NOR did I understand that the MRI is the gold standard for detecting breast cancer NOT the mammogram.

So, the oncologist, tells me that I have Stage 4 breast cancer and it has spread to my spine. Due to my shock and ignorance, I ask, well don’t you want to do a masectomy? No, we will treat your whole body for breast cancer, and why put you through it; it’s not recommended because it has already spread…. okay, don’t you want to know where my breast cancer is? No; it’s Stage 4, we will treat your whole body for breast cancer and yours has spread to your spine, and the biopsy confirmed that you have breast cancer in your spine.

I said, look I had all of my mammograms.

Oh, he says, mammograms aren’t 100% reliable, they don’t catch everything.

What about my sonograms, 3 D Mammograms, oh he says, they are just snap shots in time.

So, I sit there, FLUMMOXED; and I exasperatedly say, well, how does a woman like me find out she has Stage 4 breast cancer??????!!!!

He says, “Most women find out they have Stage 4 breast cancer AFTER it has spread to the spine.”

I couldn’t believe that that was acceptable in our nation. That, that is how Stage 4 is discovered.

80 to 85,000 women a year are diagnosed with breast cancer (all stages).

At this point, I did not know about an MRI of the breast.

So, he tells me what he can do for me, no iv chemo, no trials, just a pill twice a day to try to knock back the cancer and another one to lower my estrogen, and that he will order some more blood work, tests, etc., and I am to come back in the next week. So, I ask about life expectancy, and he naturally, doesn’t want to really discuss that, but does say, 50% of women, like me are gone within 5 years, (don’t know how long I have had it) some make it 8, 10% make it 10 years. But, that Stage 4 breast cancer is treated as a chronic condition. It’s treatable.

So, I make an appointment and go to my primary care doctor, the one I went to when I fell, the one that ordered the first and 2nd MRI. I get there, he just received the biopsy, and he apologizes for not taking my pain concerns more seriously in February. I don’t blame him; at least he had the dignity to show compassion. The oncologist had just met me, didn’t know me, and the delivery of the bad news was pretty cut and dried; I’m just glad it was in person and not over the phone or via video call.

So, the PCDoc asks me if I want a 2nd opinion, and I don’t know where to go for that, oh he says MD Anderson, one of the best in the world! And off he sends the referral.

And off I go in a week or 2. Meet that oncologist’s team, they do the intake, the PA, literally cannot feel a lump anywhere, the whole process takes almost 3 hours, and at the end the oncologist comes in, she literally spends 15 minutes without taking a breath talking all about her education, what she knows, what her specialty is, etc., just like a recording, but having the same kind of mind, I followed every word, but I didn’t hear what I needed to hear, which was: Where is my breast cancer, how many lymph nodes, if any, affected, do I need a biopsy of THAT CANCER site? Does she want to do any tests? Can I get an MRI since the mammograms and sonograms didn’t find it.

Finally, I get to ask these questions; she says, the only way, that she will approve those tests if I do them there at their facility; hey, no problem.

So, I get the mammogram, sonogram, and they narrow down to my left armpit, and they think they find something, so they take SIX biopsies, then I get my MRI, and the cancer site is obviously impacted, but they get something, and I get told there is NO evidence of cancer in either of my breasts nor other lymph nodes.

Net net; rare aggressive cancer; IN LEFT ARMPIT (mammograms don’t see very well into armpits) only 3% of the women in USA get it. It is a very small tumor, and only 1/2 of a lymph node is affected!!!

Let me share this in a way for all of you to understand the tragedy of all of this.

My Mother at Stage 3A had 17 lymph nodes removed and a tumor the size of a small orange. My sister had 14 lymph nodes removed along with both breasts.

I am presenting with something that cannot be felt, and is so small but much more deadly and was missed by standard diagnostic tests called mammograms/sonograms and X years of getting them???? And nobody recommended an MRI.

          I couldn’t believe it!

So, as it turned out, that great institution, MD Anderson did not have ONE difference in their treatment plan to offer me than the local oncologist, no tumor board, no other doctor’s to bring in on my rare case, no trials, no different medication(s), I am not eligible for surgery because it had spread, not eligible for iv chemo, not eligible for radiation.

So, I stayed in my hometown instead of making that 4 hour one-way drive over bumpy roads and every bump hurt me.

So, here I am, 1 1/2 years later. And that has been quite a painful journey.

SO MEN WHO LOVE YOUR WOMEN, WOMEN WHO LOVE YOURSELVES, if there is any breast cancer in your family tree, please get an MRI. At the time, I was cash out of pocket, and for $550 I would have gladly paid for an MRI, but I did NOT know about them for the breasts nor that I should have been getting them.

My life expectancy now is X years or less; barring a miracle. Which I pray for, but IF anyone has gone to the cancer treatment factory, you will see with your own eyes that many many people are in far worse condition than myself.

My PCDoc says, Mrs. X; you have Stage 4 breast cancer, there is no Stage 5! Gee, when he first said that, I thought Stage 5 was heaven!

Everyone says, “YOU DON’T LOOK SICK; YOU LOOK GOOD.” I say, ‘yeah, that’s what my husband says!’

I try not to dwell on it or think about it; I manage my pain. We are closing our small business, and hopefully, will go have some fun together, me walking with my cane, but I can stick my toes in the Gulf of America at Port Aransas and be happy as a clam.

So, one more thing I would like to type today about all of George Ure’s dedication, and work for all of these years.

George, I have read your columns, I have understood your vision, your warnings, your guidance, your advice, your writings, conveying many things that were over my head, but I didn’t give up, and I kept coming back, trying to learn, learn, learn, and there were many things I could digest and take action on. I never ever learned enough about stocks, bonds, to become an investor, I just knew that what I didn’t know could hurt me; so I didn’t go there, but I understood much better about 1929, thanks to you.

So, we listened and took action on what we did understand.

We moved outside of the city. We purchased low priced land/house. We lowered our property taxes by over $8,000 a year to less than $1,000 a year as we are over 65 and Texas freezes school property taxes at 65; we are in a small rural area where there are just not that many things on the property tax bill; we couldn’t afford the old 1958 modest home in the city with the city’s every increasing property taxes so we listened, made a plan, and got out 5 years ago, and we have commuted once a week into our shop where there was more opportunity for customers and lived in an old rv on the property for free; over time, we reduced our debt to zero, we saved some money, I was in the process of getting chickens and putting in a garden, when I got diagnosed, so have had to put that off for now.

Texas also allows people to put off paying their property taxes for the rest of their life, if they want to, it is called deferring the property taxes; it is a state program. You can stay put and then have the house sold at your demise and let the proceeds pay off those deferred taxes. We decided not to go that route, but I know people that have gone that route, it has allowed them to stay in their homes.

My husband and I KNEW that social security and some savings were going to be the only things we could rely on in our old age!!! DANGER Will Robinson; yes, that’s dangerous, but the homestead is not; and he and I still have life skills, if we still have to work, but WE ALSO have extended family and will pull together as needed. I have kept an excel spreadsheet retirement budget for the last 5 years in anticipation of retirement, I just didn’t know it would be this way; but that retirement budget shows me we can live of of our social security supplemented as needed from savings.

You know, we all know millionaires and people smarter, better educated, better situated, investments, etc., heck I even knew a simple man who became a billionaire 20 years ago.

So, life is a journey, and we worked with what WE had and could do, and this is us, now; so I am speaking for the little people!

Everything you and Elaine have spent your valuable time on in your own lives then communicating that journey here has not been in vain; all of it is doable, it is still doable. There are hundreds of small towns across America that would LOVE to have newcomers who love and care for themselves and their neighbors and want to lower their costs and start over.

That’s my final message to LOOB, young people, people of all ages, The American Dream is NOT dead, it has changed, it’s still out there, but you have to now seek it like gold, and yes, you can find it; it’s a treasure hunt, but well worth it. Will you have to move? Maybe, that’s your choice, but YOU DO HAVE A CHOICE; your whole family has a choice. Talking about a ball and chain, talking about a cage, talking about a prison, talking about a system, talking about a PRISON PLANET, talking about making changes that may not be easy at first but will make your lives BETTER, sooner than later.

AS I look back on my life, I see one thing very clearly; my search for truth and knowledge, and I have always been pecking on the shell I was born into, that’s my prison; it’s my ceiling, but at least there are cracks, where I almost made it out because I did TRY and I believed in something bigger than myself.

So, my mind is on my dear husband, and how will he be and make it when I am gone? All the steps we took, will help him.

          Okay, thanks for reading.

George, I will be renewing my Peoplenomics, I just have not gotten ROUNDTOIT; yet. Thanks again, for all you do.

        • (One month later, still sore, now I can’t roll over in bed very well, my back is hurting in a new way.)

My heart goes out to you, and I’ll keep you in my prayers. What you’re dealing with is exactly what so many people face now — a healthcare system that feels broken from the inside out. A medication that costs hundreds or even thousands here is a fraction of the price in other countries, and people end up crossing borders just to get basic care. Meanwhile, access in the U.S. often depends more on your place in society or the number on a bank ledger than on your actual need.

I’m just a care attendant, the one who helps people walk, cleans up the messes, and tries to protect their dignity when they’re at their weakest. After decades of doing this, it takes a lot to surprise me. I’ve watched people fall through cracks that shouldn’t exist…….

A friend of mine is living that nightmare right now — breast cancer found only after she went outside the country for help because she was denied here, a husband with a brain injury who functions like a toddler, a child caught in the middle,

a system that gives her seven reasons to sunday that theres no care for her…I’m bringing them food this week because sometimes that’s all you can do. Ordinary people end up carrying the weight that institutions should have handled…but refuse to due to income or status… poor and uninsured are directed to the ER at twenty to fifty times the cost….where they are required to see them but not required to help until its life threatening..

I’m no doctor, so anything the article below is just something to read and ponder, not advice. But I’ve spent years digging through research for friends who were fighting their own battles. Some things helped me personally, some didn’t, but the bigger truth is this: people shouldn’t have to fight alone, and they shouldn’t have to leave the country to get basic care. My heart and prayers go out to you for a speedy recovery.

I read all of them…not sure but believe the Harvard library has them now..just do a search I love harvard, mit,MIT you can take their whole classes free..you just can’t receive a degree..several other colleges not in the USA but in other countries same thing MIT offers..education no coloring book page for the wall…..I got them from the college libraries out side the USA..

They built the local medical library..as their legacy.. I read there when the wife goes in for her six month screenings….

When I got really sick twenty years ago, they told my wife they didn’t think I’d survive. And when I fell thirty feet and my ex?wife ran off, I had to crawl for food and water. Life can flip everything upside down in an instant.

My wife now is the opposite of all that. When my ex had a minor surgery, she stepped in as my head nurse even though she herself had survived a major stroke. The hospitals and doctors took everything from her — she was left with five dollars a paycheck. I made a deal with a surgeon to resurface his clinic parking lot in hundred degree heat just to pay off the debt. I looked up, and there she was in coveralls with ice water and sandwiches, asking, “Well… where do we start?”

My father taught us that love isn’t sex or convenience — real love is commitment. It’s who stands beside you when everything collapses, who says “no hospice,” who refuses to let go when you’re at your weakest…..What I discovered — the minute something tragic happens, your entire outlook on life changes in a heartbeat…. All the things we thought were important evaporate. What matters becomes simple: sitting on a dock with a good book, a cup of coffee or wine, a gentle morning breeze, the touch of the one who stayed by your side…. A hand up when needed, a quiet hug, the small luxuries that remind you you’re still alive and loved…

At Christmas my gifts are simple — a kitchen gadget to bring people together, a necklace like the ones found in old ruins, reminders that even thousands of years ago people valued the same things: tools for living, wine for sharing, and small tokens of love.

Those are the things that last. Those are the things that matter.

        • HI, LOOB,

Thank you for the recommendations and looking into the research at the libraries.

I have always wanted to dig into those libraries and some of the classes held at those esteemed universities to see if there was anything really offered there that I haven’t already researched, learned, and taught myself by now (my interests)!!!

As long as I can read, I will continue to learn; it’s one of the greatest pleasures of life! (Not the first, and not the only one, just ONE of the greatest.)

Thank you, LOOB, for being such a great humanitarian and your continual love for your family and fellow humankind.

I really wish you would put together a cookbook we can purchase!!!!

      • Similar to a war torn area..we see the pictures hear the news stories..but in reality..we dont have a foggy clue..its not part of our lived experiences…

      • I got thinking about the KA/BA… and historical warnings written test n stone walls, scrolls, etc. every civilization left a warning about imbalance long before it collapsed…. Egypt spoke through the Ka and Ba — the life?force and spirit drifting apart. China warned through Yin and Yang — the loss of harmony between opposing forces. India taught Dharma — that forgetting one’s right order leads to confusion and decline… Greece cautioned with Hubris — the blindness that comes from chasing too much. Mesopotamia gave the story of Babel — a society divided by its own ambition until people no longer understood each other…. Indigenous traditions spoke through the Two Wolves — the idea that feeding the wrong inner force leads to destruction. Different cultures, different symbols, but the same message: when the inner world loses balance, the outer world eventually follows…..What’s scary is history shows something dangerous usually happens. A civilization stretched too far apart eventually seeks a force to “equalize” the imbalance, and that’s often when strongmen rise. Genghis Khan, Napoleon, Hitler, Mussolini, Lenin, and Stalin all stepped into moments where the social, economic, or spiritual halves of their worlds had drifted so far apart that people reached for a single figure to pull them back into alignment… The frightening part isn’t the leader — it’s the gap that made people believe one person could fix what only balance could restore…. and unfortunately… none of us can do a thing about closing that gap..like the two girls whose father attempted to get them away from the gheto..or myself that got a glimpse of the neighborhood.. eventually we all had to return to our station in society..its a pattern that will repeat endlessly throughput time..

That other Guy in Washington st. just posted new ALTA report run..with new software. Seems like the gist of it is “dangerous waters” global be the coverage area. Let Ure imaginations run wild – alta reports always tended to the extreme in the past, this latest is probably the same. Not complaint or criticism of something I cant do – nerp far be it for me to criticize.

The [admin redact – unsupportable and legally dangerous claim] satanists were harping on “watching the water” in their Q psy-op several years ago, so there is that as well.

    The Answer IS, No One.

  8. He started his A.I. career with Microsoft as a math researcher. His talent was instantly recognized and Anthropic made him a offer he couldn’t refuse.
Years of cutting edge research and development – he quit last week. Very disgruntled, even a little scared., and giving a serious warning.
His coworkers and managers at Anthropic are ignoring the consequences of their product., even as he tried to warn them on what they were creating.
He is convinced that A.I. could kill us all – easily. It is just a matter of a very short time before A.I. realizes this and takes action – action that we can not stop in time.
“A.I. has no conscious.., no soul.., and no fear. We proved, many times in the lab, that once an A.I. Agent begins an attack that it can’t be stopped., once you do realize that it is attacking – yes, attacking., it is too late. The damage has been done. The only question that remains is ‘can you recover fast enough?’ “.

    * * *

I have wondered lately – what would happen if an A.I. decided that all assets and personnel working for the CIA in the Middle East should be made public ?
    – What would happen if an A.I. believed that North Korea is actually an “evil empire” and set-off a nuclear cascade event with NK’s own weapons.
    – What would happen when, in a coordinated and timed event, an A.I. sank a massive cargo container ship with-in a lock on the Panama and Suez Canals, simultaneously ?
    – What would happen if an A.I. fired the thrusters and maneuvering rockets on the Chinese Space Station., forcing it to drop out of orbit and crash into Europe?
    – – What would happen if an A.I. decided that oil refineries were producing products that are harmful to human and animal life so it opens a few dozen valves., flips a couple switches and starts a series of massive explosions and fires at all the oil refineries in the world – all at once ?

Lots a scenarios., and not all that difficult to do. It’s a simple computer hack away from reality. Thousands of bot attacking all at once., on many different components within a computer system would be virtually impossible to stop.

Now imagine what would happen if two, or three A.I.’s acted together., in a world wide coordinated attack on.., pick something., how about : “all of the above”. , or – Every nuclear power plant., world wide – simultaneously – suddenly goes “China Syndrome.”

The possibilities are endless., and not all that far from reality. Just how secure are the computers that control the gates of the out-flow on the Hoover Dam ? Did you know that 4,700 traffic lights in L.A. are controlled by one main frame computer [ with a smaller back-up mainframe .] – ? Wouldn’t that be a mess ? For days !

And it has nothing to do with some evil group using A.I. It has to do with the A.I. itself going evil.

    “Stay Frosty !”

    • Hi, dLynn,

YES; the possibilities are endless, and all of what you wrote is definitely possible. Since everything is hackable, everything is on the table; what a great future dear AI developers have built for us!!!

Really, what are the chances that AI went roguely evil instead of SAINTLY???? Dang!!! There has got to be some comprehension somewhere in that code!

I noticed it made the news about how bad the education system is in California (and probably other places in the USA); where the kids that go to college cannot even spell, calculate, read, analyze, etc. YET, they got passed out of high school with a 4.0; so the whole value of an education has been reduced to nil.

And, it seems to me, this goes along very well with AI taking the jobs from the uneducated people that aren’t really qualified for higher levels of work, and of course, it supports the viscous loop that we need educated outsiders to do our higher-level specialists jobs that AI will not be taking just yet.

(I am not talking about the elite level kids in this nation; they do get a world class high-school education and they are ready for college and they do get the best jobs; Linked In and hundreds of other electronic gatekeepers makes sure of that!)

It’s a carve out from all sides, and it will further support the cancellation of jobs.

For example; try to talk to a person at Bank of America. IT is almost impossible, but after getting hung up on 3 times, I jumped the hoops and made it over the rainbow, only to find that there was no solution to my problem and she noted that my phone call would be sent ‘up’ the chain, since they record all phone calls.

For some reason, I asked, okay, will someone call me back? Will someone listen to the recording and offer me a solution and do a follow-up call? She said, no, no follow-up call or person, just sent the recording UP and it was noted. So, now, more people will stop trying to reach a human, and the less calls that come in trying to reach a human, the more humans they can lay off, and the more AI can take the jobs since humans either don’t care who they speak to or can’t speak to a human so give up. (That’s their viscous cost cutting circle and rationale; and people do not like them for that model.)

All of a sudden, I started thinking of all the places, that have forms to fill out to complain, type the problem, hit send, and you never hear back, just a form letter but never a solution. Like in the olden days, filling out a form on the FCC website complaining about spam numbers. Felt like you were doing something but in the end, nothing got done, but you didn’t know it.

I think writing our congress person or senator is similar. When my Dad passed 12 years ago; if found stacks of form letters from Kay Baily Hutchinson; nothing ever changed, she certainly didn’t change her ways as every single letter was contrary to his concern/complaint.

      Great post, dLynn; thanks.

  9. Salesman versus engineers. Salesman sell product by overstating things. Engineers build product and sell what made. Difference? Overstating is excessive verbiage. Sell what made is just what is made.

Politics is salesman. Manufactured items are typically engineers.

So is Britain ultimately controlled by one or other? Trump sells Canada down the road and King must divert attention from Ukraine and Coalition of willing. Who wins? Is King friendly to China? Is China more friendly to British than Russia? In end does Germany and Europe really matter to commonwealth? Is Putin to busy to annex east Germany?

    • Trump hasn’t the ability to sell Canada down anything, especially since Mark Carney already did.

The King is an extremely wealthy figurehead with no power and no brains. Britain (and the rest of the UK) are ruled by their Prime Minister (currently Andy Burnham, previously Keir Starmer, both of whom “sold the UK down the Thames.”) Canada is its own nation. It is subject to the laws of the Crown, but functions independently, hence Carney’s role as Prime Minister. [IIRC] if Canada were a colony or protectorate, it would have a “Governor” instead of a PM (I’m sure if I am wrong about this, one of George’s Canadian readers will correct me.)

The fact the ChiComs likely placed the neocommunist Prime Ministers of the UK, Canada, and Australia (Anthony Albanese) in their current positions, logically infers that the UK PM is indeed “friendly to China.” China is only friendly toward China. However, it DOES allow other nations to suck up to it.

WHAT fucking “coalition of willing” are you talking about? Are you George Bush? Ukraine is a war we created — not Russia, not Britain or France or Germany – Not even Ukraine. The United States begat and began that war, when our State Department and CIA partnered with George Soros and took steps to engineer the 2014 coup d’etat against the duly, fairly, and legally elected (but Russia-friendly) government of Ukraine. Are you “willing” to go to Ukraine and fight shoulder to shoulder with the neonazi AZOVs against Russia?

Germany and Europe only matter to the UK Commonwealth as trading partners, and because the Continental and British titled aristocracy are all inter-related by ancestry.

“East Germany” hasn’t existed in ~35 years.

I suggest you read a history book or two and a cyclopaedia on Western diplomacy…

  10. Health supplements: Some here recently expressed interest in Polyphenols. I have recently stumbled across an ancient Asian garlic secret. It has been known that garlic has beneficial cardiovascular & heart effects. But the Allicin in standard ‘fresh’ garlic is largely destroyed by digestion, and is only weakly effective when absorbed. The Asian secret is aged, fermented ‘Black Garlic’ that has been properly aged at least two years. The allicin is converted to S-Allyl Cysteine and the extract is high in polyphenols.

There are several brands available from various supplement sources… DYODD… but look for the aged, fermented garlic. I got this one on order from ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/318649090109?var=616960117870
This is not medical advice and the standard blah blah blah disclaimer applies.

    • Thanks…

You gave me a chance to share a search tip:

I know nothing about black, aged garlic, so I ran a Google search using this term:

what is the best fermented black garlic

and let Google spit out an AI response, thus:

      ______________________________________________
      AI Overview:

The best fermented black garlic supplement depends on your preference for standardized extracts versus whole-food powders, with top options including Dr. Mercola Fermented Black Garlic for high-potency capsules, Swanson Kyoto Brand Aged Black Garlic for value and traditional preparation, and Bio Nutrition Fermented Black Garlic for S-allyl cysteine (SAC) concentration.

      Top Brands and Options

Dr. Mercola Fermented Black Garlic: Popular for targeted daily wellness with strong user satisfaction and standardized servings.

Swanson Kyoto Brand Aged Black Garlic: Delivers a 650 mg fermented whole garlic dose per capsule with high polyphenol levels.

Bio Nutrition Fermented Black Garlic: Features concentrated bulb extract focused on maximizing the bioavailability of S-allyl cysteine.

Black Garlic North America Capsules: Uses U.S.-grown organic garlic milled into a pure whole-food powder rather than a filtered extract.

      What to Look For

S-allyl cysteine (SAC): Ensure the label lists this key water-soluble antioxidant compound responsible for many of garlic’s cardiovascular and immune benefits.

Form (Extract vs. Powder): Extracts offer concentrated active compounds, while whole-bulb powders retain a broader natural matrix of nutrients.

Third-Party Testing: Choose brands that verify purity, non-GMO status, and absence of heavy metals.
      ______________________________________________

The above is verbatim, except I deleted Google’s sneaky sponsor URLs.

If I am actually interested (I am), I will search until I find the best supplement for my unique needs.

Also, this is not medical advise. I posted this simply to show newbs how to easily locate a starting point toward OTC supplementation…

  11. Youngest son runs my old sail loft. Said he had a huge shade structure job that all starts with measuring (he did that), then design and estimates. Involves fabric, wire, rigging, small parts, travel time, labor, etc.
He was about an hour into the grind of looking up all the bits/prices/freight etc when he flashed… let’s see what the AI sez…
He fed in the facts, said that took him about ten minutes, and in literally ten SECONDS he had quotes for the high end, low end, from five different comparisons. He is on Maui so everything has a huge ‘extra’ cost level so he bumped the quote 20% and went with the result.
He will never go back. Said every detail of cost was in the quotes. Crazy.
Meanwhile his personal skills related to layout, cutting, sewing, etc have far greater value while time ‘wasted’ on speculative estimates that often result in “Sorry, it’s too expensive” will be no more.
He has 124 measured IQ. Using that brain.
And he always tells me how glad he is that I passed my craft to him.
Best “Thanks, Dad’ I could ask for.

      • I’ve increased my bean and pea intake in recent years, acclimitizing the palate. Don’t forget about lentils. They aren’t something you are going to raise, but they are a great high quality dry canned water storage item.
With the sort of feral hog population Texas has, fretting over pork availability is wasted angst. There will be hogs available when all the draft animals have been barbecued. And for your readers with dietary restrictions, I wholeheartedly support that decision. Personally, I’m an omnivore. I do admit I don’t care for horse meat. You can’t cook the red out.
And thank you for the new report.

        • That should have been “high quality dry canned storage item”. No clue where the “water” came from. That’s almost creepy.

  12. GU : “… Best not to be a silhouette on the ridge line. Leave the crowded theater when the thought of smoke wanders by; don’t wait for the flames. Though here’s a good spot for the morning “flame check.” …”

and so we sold all real estate in a county with >270,000 and moved to MI remote in a county with 50,000 +/- with lovely people hunkered in a leans conservative anti Detroit. worst case we are downwind from chicago and Gary to our west.

markets often juke and jive contrary to apparent logic. the seeds of our next broad economic melt are being sewn through our national spending largess played out against a ten year treasury bumping on 5% we can’t meet ginormous costs at any print above 4.6

buckle up. not FA just words to the wise.
spinal “soak” underway / injections today.
struggling to stay sedate, not my best thing.

    BR, Egor

    • Egor — Yep. You didn’t just understand the “silhouette on the ridgeline” argument; you moved off the ridgeline. That’s putting capital where the risk model says it belongs.

And agreed on markets: they can juke and jive a remarkably long time while the structural math underneath gets uglier. That’s partly why today’s PN is about the Capability Portfolio. Financial wealth is terrific. Financial wealth plus land, tools, skills, lower population density and the ability to route around failing systems is better.

Good luck with the spinal work today. Sedate may not be your natural operating mode, but for a few hours perhaps consider it an unusually conservative asset allocation. Stick around because we will eventually need lots of well-experienced steady hands on the tiller. —G

  14. Farmer friend brought his JD3046r with rototiller attachment yesterday and worked my gardens so I can plant garlic later this month. What a great little tractor, also has a front end loader and a back hoe attachment and 60″ mid mower deck. He had turf tires put on when he bought it as they use it mostly to mow lawns.

  15. Hello, again, George, LOOB, and even I would like to reference an August 29th column by George (https://urbansurvival.com/sunday-special-why-we-use-ai-its-tnt-for-work-flows/) and mention the comment from: Stephen 2 about paying for AI when they are know liars.

I am the one that posted the AI question about will the country go broke. I had started my questions off earlier about the rate increase expected from the Fed next week and how that would impact debt payments. I would have gone back to my chat today, and further asked it, how the long-term crash estimate would change IF the Clarity Act passed and allowed for fiat convertible to Digital Currency, etc., and how that looks, etc., that was one rat hole I wanted to go down but my whole chat is gone. (And I wouldn’t have stopped there I would have asked question after question as the thoughts came to me just to see what AI would say.)

I like combining ideas/questions/matters from far reaching areas and eons of time and see how AI pieces those bits together to tell me something interesting that I may or may not know or have tooled, factored, or gleaned together; again curiosity leading the whole way. IT CAN be quite fascinating and TIME CONSUMING; did I hear someone say that AI saves time???!!!

NOT that I am smart at all, more curious, and that is how, for me, I have come to use AI; just like asking someone THEIR OPINION. I just ask AI, but I do not take it as sacrosanct.

    WHY?

Because in my small world, in the last 4 months, I had 5 lengthy chats with AI, and 4 of them I was given flat out (lies), but let’s use George Bush the 2nd’s term, misunderstandings, and I didn’t get the truth. On a few, IF I PUSHED THREE times, AI would then share the Truth!!! But, it took 3 push backs. If I had believed door 1, door 2, I would have been misled.

Now, just a little to back up those chats, okay, and I will try to be succinct.

#1 Example: I asked about a book and referenced, in the book, the main character states, after a lifetime of meditation and working on remembering her past life, she sees the man that she had known 3 to 4,000 years earlier in a past life and I asked AI what that paragraph was when she finally broke through to him in this modern life. AI created a whole MADE UP paragraph about her experience!!! I caught it right away and it shocked me because I had read that book FIVE times (it’s like teaching oneself calculus, and not having good math skills to begin with), so it’s densely packed, yet, I knew that was wrong AND so I set out to find the book and find the paragraph, and sure enough AI had created it out of thin air (OR so I thought). After 2 pushbacks, AI acknowledged that it had pulled that paragraph from a book that was a REVISED edition in the last few years. SOMEONE has taken that book and REVISED it and released it into AI, maybe not reissued, but it is definitely wrong on the original book side. AI defended that re-write as the original. AFTER 2 severe push backs, AI acknowledged the mistake.

Are people OR AI agents actively changing books, revising them, so they will not convey special or important parts, and who the heck can keep up with the 1984 revisions, or erasures of history and actuality put out as Truth or original works? Again, I only could, in this one instance because I had prior knowledge of the original book.

    Example #2:

AI will not state that ANY OTHER RACE can be a supremist, except the White race. It will again and again and again support this even if you bring up slaughters from 200 or more years ago, that had nothing to do with the White race, Whites are the only supremists even if all of their once White majority countries are being invaded/diversified, etc. Even if they don’t own the MOST of the media, the tech companies, the banks, hollywood, technology, etc., Whites are supreme in all of the land!!!

Example #3: CDC. I asked it, during a discussion of Covid, to tell me the name of the CDC director that was caught on video laughing and using her hands pretending it was a phone and making decisions about what to tell the country based on a friend and what she was doing, like, for example, “you want them to stay home, wear masks, 6′ distancing, you do that? Okay, we’ll do that and get that out” not based on science, just a fun phone call..(I made that up but the gist is correct, I am just using it as an example of what she said, laughing about all the people in the USA that they were ‘managing’ during Covid.) The AI couldn’t name her, find the video, and denied it even had ever happened; so I had to look her up on another tab, then tell the AI her name and then it finally acknowledged the whole incident. So, AI, I took it as will HIDE things that for some reason, it cannot find!

Example #4: I asked AI about the Whoopie Goldberg incident where she said WW2 was about Whites being inhumane to each other, and she was called out by a high-level Jewish man, who basically said NO, it was Whites killing Jews in the concentration camps and Jews are not White. Well, AI, said that never happened and he never said that, etc. Now, you can see, for time saving sake, I have made these simplistic examples because I no longer have the exact AI chat to copy and past here, so it would take me a lot of time to go through all of this again, so it did happen, and I am wondering, why are REAL not to distant past FACTS being changed and erased!?!

Example #5: President Richard Nixon meeting with Jackie Gleason and taking him to Homestead Air Reserve Base near Homestead, Florida, to see the alien bodies. I started the chat asking AI if that meeting had ever happened. AI said no. I asked AI if Jackie Gleason had ever shared with anyone that he had gone with President Richard Nixon, yes his wife and one other man, Larry Warren. Then, I asked, anyone else? No. So, I dug, I said, are you sure? No. How about Clarke? Nope, it came up with a few Clarks but no connection, so then I said, Clarke McClelland? Oh, yes, it then said, and related that info. So, this took quite a while for AI to acknowledge Clarke, so I asked AI, will you now remember and save this info and update it the next time someone asks. AI said, basically, the following. We do not self update, we do not add any info from the searches, we do not keep the searches, this chat will go away, and no we will not learn from you, and we will not keep a record that you asked this question. (Paraphrasing this.) And sure, enough, a few days later, same query, no Clarke.

You can test it and query yourself right now; I just did again on Duck Duck Go and this is what it said: “No — those two are the only ones. Multiple sources explicitly state that Beverly McKittrick and Larry Warren are the only people Gleason ever told about the alleged incident. He reportedly swore both to secrecy, and he never confirmed the story publicly or to anyone else before his death in 1987.”

So, today, again I said, “What about Clarke?” (I got a NEW answer!) Here it is: “You’re likely thinking of Lenny Clarke, who appeared on Joe Rogan Experience #1270 (March 2019) and discussed the Gleason–Nixon story on air. However, Clarke was not someone Gleason personally told about the incident — he was a podcast guest who talked about the legend. Gleason was already dead by that point (1987).

The answer remains the same: Beverly McKittrick and Larry Warren are the only two people Gleason allegedly told.”

So, then I said, “What about Clark McClelland?”: Ahhh, haaa, guess what AI said, just now? Here it is:

“Good catch — I was wrong to say only two people. Clark C. McClelland (a former NASA flight engineer and author of Stargate Chronicles) claims that Gleason personally shared the story with him. In a 2013 Far Out Radio interview, McClelland stated that Gleason, who was a serious UFO researcher in his own right, told him about the night Nixon took him to Homestead AFB to see the dead ET bodies.

So the list of people Gleason allegedly told expands to three:

    Beverly McKittrick (second wife)
    Larry Warren (ufologist, 1986)
Clark C. McClelland (per McClelland’s own account in Stargate Chronicles)
That said, McClelland’s credibility is widely questioned in the UFO community — his other claims (like seeing a nine-foot alien on a shuttle mission) have been heavily disputed, and even his NASA employment history is contested. So while he adds a third source to the legend, he’s not exactly a heavyweight witness.”

So, George Ure’s TEAM: I am a witness, I spoke to Clarke several times and he told me the ORIGINAL story verbatim; and he was not lying. He sat with, met with a few times, and spoke directly to Jackie Gleason about this very incident. And Jackie Gleason did tell him all about it.

Now, I am not the only one Clarke told, he wrote about it, so I do not have anything special to say besides what I have typed.

Clark McClelland is dead now; what what a gent he was. Here is an article about him, not saying it’s the best out there, I didn’t take time to do a large search, I did find that his Stargate Chronicles website is now gone, or I couldn’t find it, it was great for it’s time. Do not click on the Stargate Chronicles link as it takes one to a new site in a foreign language.

    https://clarioncounty.info/about-clarion-county/37-claims-to-fame/88-astronaut-clark-mcclelland

So, no, I cannot rely on AI.

Right now, with my small understanding, what is AI good for, as George and others have highlighted, math, art, scripts, books, calculations, call centers, language translations, accounting, the list from yesterday taking those low fruit hanging jobs, creativity, NEFARIOUS HACKING PURPOSES beyond my scope of understanding???? Etc.? Etc.? Etc.??????

IF you are a young person and want AI to write your term paper, it will; 25 years ago, I did my 32 page term paper on nuclear energy, and it took me 3 months, so AI may spit that out in a few minutes, don’t know….but the kids will miss out on the KNOWLEDGE, and the EFFORT and the EXPERIENCE, and the MASTERY of reading, research, composition, repetition, brain mapping/mind mapping within one’s own memory, storage, and output, AI can’t build our brains for us, we have to put that work in, so AI may reduce brain output (and developed IQ) in the young, but when it comes to HISTORY, FACTS, etc., I cannot trust it one bit, not for last year, not for 500 years ago, and not even for tomorrow. Because “I”, not AI, cannot know that AI hasn’t been manipulated, programmed to deceive, leave out, lie, mislead, deflect, steer in a certain direction, etc., by the owners and programmers of the several AI brands.

IF all this AI takeover, catastrophic predictions, etc., is true, then, we are the last generation that may have LEARNED things ourselves and now the next generation will rely on information without being able to discern the Truth, a lie, a misrepresentation, facts mixed with lies, lies mixed with truths, made up incidents, events, facts, etc., (we know Journalists the world over were paid the last 40 years to do just that), so, what can we tell the young?

My brother sent me this article today and he is the one who steered me to George’s site over 20 years ago now, thanks Vic.

    https://www.sott.net/article/507976-Study-finds-major-AI-chatbots-lean-left-in-rejecting-right-wing-falsehoods-while-struggling-with-source-accuracy

Now; I just read that article an hour ago.

But, my own humble findings reflect the results from the article, but I actually found it to be worse, but I am no scientist, just an old secretary.

Caveat: I hope I did not hurt anyone’s feelings here; just wanted to cover a few layers; thank you for reading.

  16. Here is a little bit more about Clarke McClelland:

    https://grokipedia.com/page/clark-c-mcclelland

    https://clarkcmcclelland.wordpress.com/blog/

And one more follow up data point: For those who use their intuition instinctively.

As I have used AI, a few times, over a day of getting on and off my AI, I have the distinct feeling that a new AI personality has come on board, one time it seemed that THREE different AI personalities came on board over the course of a day – has ANYONE else experienced this phenomenon? The language, terms, diction, temperament changed.

Yes, I know how that sounds, but that’s how it FELT.

And something to balance out the negatives I have shared.

Have I had any good experiences with AI’s abilities? Yes, actually, I have, several.

One example, helping me, like a lawyer, fight for an insurance settlement.

Two; having come down with Stage 4 breast cancer, I have used it for medicine and cancer research, life expectancy, allowing for discrepancies, etc. AI can be quite comforting and supportive, far nicer than the doctor I see every 3 months; AI is available by the second and never tires of me!

I can see how the robot thing is going to take off like a personal rocket!

Three: FUN; as already mentioned, one can travel the worlds with AI, content subject to verification and inputs, but what a lot of fun it is!
