Topology Change Monday: Joe to Go, Kamala’s Show

Every morning – when you’ve chased news around for half a century or more – there’s a moment of reflection.  Comes after the first pass through headlines.  You get a general idea where things are going. In subsequent passes, you’ll get to the prioritization, quippish angles, innovation (enterprising) additional fact-finding and all that.

The first pass is to look for a “Unifying concept” of the day.  No, it’s not like prayer (which for most people is silent begging, anyway).  It’s like this “word for the day” is how the Universe (or call it what you will) presents each of us with a “Context for Today’s Lessons in Life.”

Topology it is.  The layout of the Future – and what we are supposed to learn is like a “workbook” of Life.  Every day, we have an opportunity to improve…

  • A little (fine points, usually) something about our thinking.
  • Also, a lesson on how we’re managing our feelings can be in the mix.
  • A lesson “about or involving” spouse/children, family complex is normal.
  • A “work lesson” might come your way as well.
  • Occasionally, you’ll get a Big Life Lesson thrown in that will definitely change your conduct and what you believe deep-down inside.

In my simple outlook on Life, each and every one of us in a “probe from another Dimension.”  The one where our essence (some call it soul) came from. Which means, as the poet Shelley wrote: “I am the Eye through which the Universe beholds itself and know It is Divine.” True, modern Technauts have a hard time with anything more important than “Me, me, me!”  Conveniently, then, the evidence of the “Human Probe Recording and Playback” mechanism at time of death is right there in the scientific literature, too. Like it, or not.  The life review experience: Qualitative and quantitative characteristics – PubMed (nih.gov).

Obviously, when you “tune in” to this Big Mission we each have, it’s hard to just lay around in bed.  So, a quick shower, cup of tea, handful of supplements and I’m anxiously on the track of Today’s Big Hint.

Topology is a good fit.

Having thus settled on a possible guiding concept for the day, we can roll through the weekend’s previously scanned headlines and size up where the ground has shifted.

If the money isn’t there, about all Harris will have to run on will be her “record of accomplishments as VP” (crickets) Leaving her then her lackluster performance in California.  Yes, but she still has Willie number, right?  Still, Clinton would love a rematch and if Kamala can’t “show the money” then God have mercy on the remnants of the party. It will be like a street right in the cockpit of airplane.  Crash follows.

Misdirection and Event Wiping

We continue to be shocked at the power of Big Lies on the Trump assassination attempt. Sure looks to us like a cover-up when the (should have been fired already guy) Mayorkas taps former Obama and Bush administration officials to investigate Trump assassination attempt . Even worse than the Warren Commission, this clown posse isn’t event trying to look apolitical. Talk about arrogance!

Hats off to Senator Ron Johnson for having the balls to point things out: Secret Service, A Possible 2nd Shooter & A Shadowy ATF Agent? – Sen. Ron Johnson. but Big Lies oft-repeated are called history books.

We think the head of Secret Service should resign and a polygraph team ought to interview everyone even remotely connected- like this week.  But the Fix is In already.  Pabulum for future pivot should be obvious in Panel to review Secret Service after Trump assassination attempt: DHS.  Another ought to be fired official heard from. Dandy. Swamp sure refilled fast, didn’t it?

Oh, sure, while America is distracted: Israel orders humanitarian zone in Gaza to be evacuated for a military operation.

And oh, look here: Now that he’s out of the race, Joe’s having company while he’s still in charge:  Can someone take the checkbook away from this drooler?

Everyone can already see the War Party is getting what it has paid-for in Ukraine.  Zelensky comments on Trump’s plan to end Russian-Ukrainian war “in day.,: And the War Party is also pushing the war deep into Russia as Drones attack Russian oil refinery in Tuapse, Russia. That’s about 220-miles inside Russia. About the distance from D.C. to NYC.

Economic Topology – Change Pending

The topology of imaginary money – crypto currency – has been waffling a fair bit.  Before the “Slow Goes” it traded up to nearly $68,500.  But earlier this morning, it was a thousand points now.

Some of this can be ascribed to political topo-shift: Democrats have ‘huge opportunity’ to win back the crypto vote (cointelegraph.com).  But, of course this won’t happen because J.D. Vance, Trump’s running mate, has a lot of the libertarian sect of the South Bay money crowd with folks like Thiel and Musk. We’ll just spike the “democrat opportunity” idea, thanks.

Instead, more likely may be Mt. Gox $6 Billion Bitcoin Stack on Move Again: Selling Incoming? (u.today).  But too early to hear the message through the crowd which chants things like BTC price 8% off all-time high — 5 things to know in Bitcoin this week (cointelegraph.com).

And next week, the topology of all things financial can change with two critical reports.  Case Shiller housing a week from tomorrow. And a week from Wednesday, the Fed will announce their rate plans.

We think – and it’s only a guess, because money-firma will be shaking this week from the change in dem leadership – the Fed may go ahead and lower rates now.  Which then, might in turn, drive the market up or a high (even if it’s only a “bounce high”) around Labor Day. After that, level-3 chest plates and a heavy downside load-out might be sensible.  We’ll just have to keep watching the economic horizon for topo changes.

Short-Term: CFNAI Lands

Chicago Fed National Activity Indicator has just been posted:

The Chicago Fed National Activity Index (CFNAI) decreased to +0.05 in June from +0.23 in May. Three of the four broad categories of indicators used to construct the index decreased from May, and three categories made negative contributions in June. The index’s three-month moving average, CFNAI-MA3, increased to –0.01 in June from –0.08 in May.

The CFNAI Diffusion Index, which is also a three-month moving average, increased to –0.08 in June from –0.12 in May. Forty-two of the 85 individual indicators made positive contributions to the CFNAI in June, while 43 made negative contributions. Thirty indicators improved from May to June, while 54 indicators deteriorated and one was unchanged. Of the indicators that improved, 11 made negative contributions

We especially like the Chicago Fed’s use of the phrase “negative contributions.” It is so…so…seasoned bullshit, know what I mean?  with my “learn to write honestly” class, I would change “:11 made negative contributions” to “11 fell.” This kind of brain-addled bullcorn is why people don’t trust the Fed.

On the economic front, tomorrow (and Wednesday) brings minor numbers. the only possibility of excitement is Thursday when GDP, International Trade, and Durable goods (some inventory numbers, as well) come strolling by.  For now, the CME Fed-Watch Tool shows only 4.7 percent chance of a rate cut.

For today a mighty big rally for Harris:

Dow is up almost a hundred – but we were probably due for a bounce, anyway.  The real problems are Housing and Rates next week.

At the Ranch: Topology Ponders

Keyword today is topology and looks like two aspects have arrived.

The first is the death (*by electricity) of one of our big grid-tie power inverters.  I’m just twiddling my thumbs waiting for the replacement arriving Wednesday.

I keep eyeing a topology change for our solar system – possibly to something like Enphase stackable, but more research on their grid drop strategies. Do I walk out on a good topology that has been keeping UrbanSurvival lit up since 2008?

Second topology question involves computers.  You’ll remember our Big Box also quit working.  This Dell XPS 8940 was not repaired with a new power supply (which came in Sunday, and I immediately installed to test).  This leaves only one more low-end attempt –  a new power switch will be here tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the new topology I’m considering will be an emergency computer I keep for backup.  A mini package PC: PELADN WI-4 Mini PC, Intel 11th Gen N5095(up to 2.9GHz) 16GB DDR4, 512GB SSD, Small Desktop PC with 4K HD, BT4.2, Dual HDMI Ports, 2.4G/5G WiFi, and Gigabit Ethernet Support – and it came with Win11 Pro for $189.

With 16 gigs and a 512 SSD, it’s enough for basic computing.  But then, if I plug in a USB 3.0 hub and a couple of 4-TB USB drives, I would have the same digital “elbow room” but my cost basis on the discretes would be lower.  Tempted to go that way, anyway.

We will just have to see how the power switch does Wednesday morning which is when that little gem of a project comes along.

If you notice a few more spelling errors during this computer shuffle here, that’s a simple reason: I try to have Win11 read aloud the morning columns like this one. Because I often pick out things by ear that I would catch reading. Unless I slow down to subvocalize (fingers on chalkboard sound) which makes me nuts.  Yes, Win11 does some neat things.  OK, maybe not with CloudStrike, grant you that…

For now, what amounts to a summer cold snap today. High today will be 81. A few passing showers, but it’s a great period for long-delayed outside projects.

      • LOOB- For every scenario, someone has penned a prediction. AI are prolific bullsh!tters, so I would expect them to try and position themselves in the prophesy market. The more BS you spew, the more likely you might get lucky. Being able to breach security and purge bad guesses increases success rates, And last but not least, lie and back date predictions. AI’s should excel in the field. The question is, are people really paying for AI BS.

  8. George, my wife and I along with some friends will be in Seattle on Thursday. I’m the only one in the group who has lived up that way. We’re staying downtown near the Needle and since none of them have ever been there I made dinner reservations for Ivar’s at their Acres of Clams location…BUT I am open to better suggestions for dinner and breakfast/lunch.

  9. In regards to Kamala, I think there is a strong case that she is ineligible to be President because of her parents’ status at the time she was born (neither were U.S. citizens) and that she was born before the 1965 Immigration Act. I’m guessing that the laws will be ignored in this case, too.

    • I certainly hope not. I’m concerned that FJB may expire before the erection and there will be an attempt to install her as president. Since she’s unqualified, the torch should really pass to the Speaker of the House.

      There are rumors that Slo Joe may already be dead or otherwise completely non-functional.

      – Both of her parents were in the country ‘legally’., however they were both born in a foreign country – Jamaica – father and India – mother.., and they were not U.S. citizens at the time of her birth – they were college students. Smart people., but still ‘foreign visitors’ on a visa. Does two foreigners visiting on a visa, doing the rumpy-bumpy in Oakland make you a U.S. citizens ? They did become citizens later.
      – So.., “technically” she should not be legally eligible on those grounds.
      The Immigration Act is huge – and I am not going to read it. There may be a loop-hole in there somewhere.

I’m sure there have been many other aspirants to the Presidency through the years, who were not born both in CONUS and of two parents who were both Citizens (did Alaska and Hawaii count before 1959? Do Guam and Samoa? Did Cuba and the Philippines, when they were U.S. territory?)

  11. Cannot imagine anyone taking the presidency with a Clinton or Obama as the vice president. That seems to much of a risk. This is why most VP are of secondary stature. You don’t want that person to be collecting their own support and working to have a power shifted to them. Is why Kamala was perfect, should was not likely to consolidate power to have a shift take place. No one wanted her in power as no citizens supported her. Maybe she will have no choice, but for her own safety no way you agree to a VP with a higher status then your own.

    The 2024 Democratic National Convention begins on Aug. 19 and will run through Aug. 22. Four weeks..?
    If the party does not unite behind a candidate, there could be an “open convention” in which the delegates previously pledged to Biden would be able to nominate and vote for other candidates. A winning candidate needs 1,976 delegate votes. “But”, since they were previously pledge to Biden and he is now not running, then all those votes are freed-up and his campaign contributions must be returned. Harris is completely on her own and Obama didn’t support her. [ Both Clinton’s did. Harris & Hillary ? OMG ! ]
    The Democratic party hasn’t had an open convention since 1968 during disputes over the Vietnam War.
    – I am not all that sure that it makes any difference who the Democrats choose. Whoever becomes the President is going to be stepping into a very active mine-field in 2025. And if the Fed does cut the interest rates between – right now – and the Election., that mine-field will go extremely active., and I doubt we make it safely to the swearing-in ceremony.
    – If they cut the rates., history says, 100% of the time, we won’t have a very good Christmas..

    I’ve always wondered about having life reviews(partial) many times during our older years. It gives us a chance to manage some of our karma while we’re still alive. I always wonder what’s beyond life, though certain experiences in different states of consciousness can hint at it. There seems to be a full spectrum of possibilities there, so it’s still highly indeterminate. All we can do is to appreciate the magnitude of what is and do our best. Appreciating silently while humbly praying and meditating would seem to be a reasonable way of living. Requesting grace for yourself and others is not begging, though a totally selfish attitude probably is.
