This being a holiday weekend, we will mainly focus on charts.  But that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty going on.  It’s just some of it is below the surface.

We will, of course, “scratch that itch” a bit.  It’s what we do.

We also drop into a reflective mood in a snip from the Reporter’s Notebook.  Especially poignant given events in Uvalde, Texas.

    This search indirectly confirms NASA is completely unaware of any UFOs, up until now.

    They wouldn’t waste money searching for something they were aware of…..? Unless it’s a misdirection. In the case of misdirection, how many people are in on the conspiracy and what else is this body of folks hiding? And if they can hide that, they could hide Flat Earth or Hollow Earth or…?

    Speaking of Hollow Earth, the steel mill in Mariupol fell. Some folks think there’s a tunnel to the space aliens under the mill.

    • Since just before the war, there was talk of Russia having extreme weapons and Putin showed no fear of a NATO response. NATO has built up but won’t cross the line. – so there must be some truth to the extreme weapon theory … and to substantiate that, the Satan missiles have come into view.

      I often remember seeing a video of a triangular craft hovering over the kremlin, some years ago. So I’ve wondered if Russia has made contact with ETs.

      Interesting that the US has Area 51 but we never see UFOs over Washington DC. And now Congressional Hearings on “phenomenon” which amount to our leaders wondering, “WTF IS THAT?” – we seem lost about all this. Or, it’s just more pandering to create confusion about it.

      There is a (tension?) building about weapons and aliens and like all tensions, there will be a release. I get the feeling the truth will come out in war, not in a deescalated friendly sort of way.

      I think those Satan missiles are only the tip of the iceberg, of the technology and (others) that really exist.

    This is definitely worth a read, particularly for anyone that has a simplistic answer for the horrific school shooting this week (ban guns, single door school entry, on site armed cop, etc.)

    I had not heard the term “purpose compass” before reading this article but have long believed that we are losing or have lost our “moral compass” and that is as much to blame for what is destroying our society today as anything else. A close look at the crime rate among fatherless young black youth in Chicago would seem to support this.

    Growing up in a home with an alcoholic father was not a lot of fun. You never knew whether Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde would come to the dinner table at night. It was only when I was much older that I learned alcoholism is a disease and understood the demons my father lived through. In spite of it, my father was a provider and we did many trips together as a family. We had a brief but loving relationship for a few years after I left home and he left the bottle. I treasure that time.

    I am sure there are people that have a far more complex relationship with their parents than I had and I can’t speak for them. I did however, come out of my childhood with a “purpose” in life that I am not sure I would have if I grew up in the absence of a father.

    As my American friends reflect this weekend on the U.S. military personnel (fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters) who died in service to God and country, I hope the “purpose compass” these heroes followed will not be lost in the horrible tragedy of a purposeless hateful fatherless teen and the innocent lives he took this week.

      2. Fathers who have children with women they are not with, need to try to have a relationship with his child, if he can. Understanding restrictions, of course. The Father is needed and missed.
      3. The purpose of Life is Service. It begins in the home, and anyone can do it.

      AMEN… when I had issues when I was little.. I was lucky.. I had a mother at home and an adult presence..
      When De-Regulation started.. businesses started staying open on sundays. families no longer gathered around the dining room table to discuss the days activities… ( my church afiliation never understood that I had to work sundays so they distanced themselves from me)
      the big issue is.. MOM had to go to work.. Dad was not able to make enough to provide for the family with one job.. as prices went up.. the adult supervision and presence ended.. today.. Children are left to fend for themselves and in a situation where a child is bullied at school if the teachers are not willing to stop those actions from happening and the parents are busy at work.. there is an imature mind that will reason the way he was taught by television programming.. or listen to what the local gang leader is telling them.. and or supplying them with the means to the end.. Every teacher and all the supervisors of that school should be fired they dropped the ball on taking the steps that would be stopping an obvious dangerous situation from developing…..

    • Yup–Fatherlessness.
      When I was a kid in the 1960’s, a neighbor girl came out one day with a T-shirt that read, “A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle.” Now all these years later, we see the bitter fruit of that sort of thinking. I think Jordan Peterson once said that Men and Women– we need to help each other, because life is so difficult and cruel.

    My old man was a radio and SONAR man, Fist Class, aboard “S-Boats” in the Pacific throughout the war. (He joined in 1939, seeing the war looming as he finished High School. Wanted to make some rank before everybody else got drafted.)

    Only in very recent years have I come to appreciate how difficult service in the “Pig Boats” was in the Pacific — especially in the early years when the outcome of the war was none too clear.

    Submarine service then was not very safe. There was no air conditioning.

  5. Just curious George.
    You have carved styrofoam but do you ever whittle? I bought a couple of books and and tools and a few wood blanks. I thought this hobby might suit me. Not so many power tools needed that are required for making wooden pens. I want to make a little rabbit or a bear first.

    • Great idea for a STS topic! I will do it.
      I bought Elaine a set of whittling knives and some basswood – far as I know, I have never seen her pick them up.

      but with the fancy schmantzy new high powered (bigger than dremel) with speed control, it might just be interesting…great idea.!

      I used to whittle as a kid, but found soldering more rewarding…

      I will even toss in a hot-plastic pen model, too…q 2-fer~!

      • I resemble that remark. Proper whittling required lemonade in rockers on a porch. Now-a-days I mostly whittle away time. But, my whittling knives, from my Grandads (who were wicked whittlers) are sharp and oiled should I ever sit long(er) in a rocker.

      • My late dentist hired his replacement… had known him since he was a kid, always whittling and carving. Doc convinced the kid to become a dentist, and he did! And the best, pain free one I ever had. Awesome gentle.

    • One gentleman that passed my way whittled.. he had many including a Cresent wrench working the size of a quarter.. birds eggs etc.. the one that amazed me was an apple…perfect with a worm a stem and a leaves ..all perfect and an arrow.. with feather perfect the hole the arrow was perfect you would have sworn he drilled a hole..the arrow head looked like it was real .. now the amazing part.. it was all from one piece of wood..

    Well… not EVERYone south of that line… Thank the tropic tradewinds it rarely hits 90 F. here. But the sun exposure is brutal year round. But I know the joys of the ‘indoor living bubble’. Mine was growing up in Wisconsin winters. I appreciated my old tube type ham gear to keep my hands warm in the basement.

    But you are giving me flashbacks of my boyhood on a bicycle, coming back from swimming at the YMCA downtown (literally in the river bottoms), pedaling up out of the valley to stop at the bakery “day old” store for a dime cherry pie to munch while waiting at the train station next door for any action. Then the bike push up the north side hill ahead to my neighborhood. We really did live during the best of times in our youth. It will never be the same. I pity the present generation. I knew way back then that it would be all downhill in the latter days.

    • Being a shade older than you, same said cherry pies were only a nickel for us. And a choice of Dads, Hires, or A&W root beers. Even more fun? When the Major and I saved up for a week and put a dozen packages of Fizzies in the kids wading pool at Jefferson Park on N Beacon Hill.
      That was before the term terrorists was in vogue. We were (non-pc) called “wild indians” and other such terms Hooligans was used frequently, delinquents only slightly less so.
      Yeah, we rocked it.

      • Nothing like a frosted giant glass mug of A & W root beer after delivering my last paper. $.45 cents. Doable on 9 dollars a week.
        Saved enough money to buy the Estes model rocket Apollo 11
        model kit. I will never forget that build. Diligently paying attention to the details…..

      • Well you probably always wondered how Root Beer is made..

        3gallons of water
        3 tablespoons sarsaparilla root ground up ..
        1 tablespoon ginger root
        1 tablespoon licorice root
        2 teaspoons dandelion root
        2 teaspoons birch bark
        1 star anise pods
        ¼ cup sassafras root bark
        3 cups sugar
        1 cup of ginger bug juice..
        On a personal note.. as in any recipe.. your taste is what matters.. I personally love a more root beer taste.. so I usually put more in of the spices that fit my taste buds.. like the star anise pods.. and sasafras powder.. ( to get the sasafras root powder.. your using sasafras root that is ground up.. ) make sure you clean any dirt off of it and the dandelion roots.. I love dandelion my self.. gives it that nice chickory flavor..
        1 cup of traditional ginger bug… ( recipe below on making your own ginger bug..) or you can use 1 TBSP of yeast..
        put your water in a large pot heat it up then.. dissolve your sugar in it..
        then take all your spices.. now you can just toss them into the warm water or put in a spice bag and toss in let it steep like a tea bag..
        let it cool..
        when it gets to room temperature.. then add the ginger bug..

        OK what in the heck is a traditional ginger bug LOL LOL LOL LOL
        similar to an apple bug… to make vinegar LOL..
        the reason it is called a bug.. is because in the days of old.. they would take apple water.. water with apples and such in it raisins…. and cover it.. bugs would come and after about three days it would start to ferment.. and would bubble up..
        Ginger bug is the same thing.. a half cup of raisins and ginger water.. etc.. cover it with cheese cloth and let it sit for about three days till it starts to ferment naturally and it starts to bubble up.. strain and add the fermenting ginger water.. you can add a tsp of sugar or a tbsp of sugar to it.. but that isn’t the way it was done.. add it to your sasafras root beer tea in the carboy.. let it sit .. until it is done fermenting..
        transfer to another carboy then kill any active yeast in it.. or.. you can bottle it without killing it to keep it fizzy.. ( wine you de carbonize.. for a fizzy drink you do not..and if you want more fiz.. then add a half tsp of sugar to each bottle. when that ferments it produces the nice bubbly texture)

      • I forgot on the root beer recipe.. you can if you kill the yeast.. back sweeten it..to get to the sugary flavor you enjoy.. and then if you do that but still want the carbination.. put it in a bottle and zap it with co2.. easy peasy..

      The day following the tragic event in Mexas, the potential of a similar slaughter of innocents was averted in Charleston, West Virginia. A gentleman of ill-repute and ileligibility to carry a weapon attempted to attend a childrens neighborhood graduation party armed with an AR-15 rifle. A woman present apparently retrieved a pistol from her purse and rendered the perp deceased. The police chief offered up complimentary praise for the quick thinking actions of the loyal citizen. One imagines the graduation party proceeded without further adieu once the gatecrasher had been shown the pearly gates.

        Divergence is converging? “Signs, signs…everywhere there’s signs…”? No sooner has “Top Gun” belatedly taken to the skies than a new Paramount delayed issue appears: “Babylon”, a movie of a bygone (Hollywood) golden age set for release Dec. 25th. Apparently there was an overhead show of fighter jet white exhaust trails prior to the Indy start today, but the Blue Angels were performing at an airshow near Wantagh, NY, formerly known as Jerusalem, not far from Babylon.

        The EU is meeting on Monday and Tuesday about turning down/off Russian gas taps to Europe through more sanctions? This weekend has seen a couple of reports from Reuters talking about one of two (3?) Ukraine gas transfer points to Europe being newly shut down. It’s not clear who is to blame. However a Moscow-based news site report from back on May 11th claims Ukraine stopped accepting gas from Gazprom at the site in question now seemingly newly closed. Perhaps Gazprom’s primary banker headquartered near Babylon, NY and tracing roots to one of the Founding Fathers can make sense of the divergent paths. Everyone else will have to make do with a wing and a prayer.

    • We have to manage our expectations. Police are people looking for paychecks and pensions. The record shows they are not going to protect even innocent children.

      Rumor is one of the teachers tried to fight the gunman but didn’t make it.

      If teacher was responsible for self defense instead of relying on third party police, the attack could of ended.

      We are responsible for our own safety. And all the other hazards that go along with survival.

    • How about their cleaning chemicals.. or their sewer pipes.. anything can be used as a weapon.. we had a mental patient that ripped the toilet off of the floor and beat an aid with it.. tore up the rooms .. cars.. dam how many people die a year from cars..
      I had a grill.. nice iron grill.. lined it with aluminum foil.. well some of the aluminum broke down.. and the iron started to rust.. I had a grease fire from hell.. the decomposition of the aluminum and the rust mixed with the grease making the accelerant.. phew.. thought it was going to burn right through the concrete patio.. when I looked at it after I put it out.. I realized I had unknowingly made thermite LOL… it was nasty.. so do they take everyones grills away..No.. with the USA as the worlds largest gun trafficker .. that won’t ever work..

    It’s me again, with the nagging question of “was it really a failed fifth?”
    It’s too early to confirm for sure that we’ve been mucking around in the painful fourth since the November high. But there are no rules broken if we are now leaving the fourth, and on our way up to a new high for the real fifth over the next year plus. A failed fifth, is breaking a rule. As you mentioned, in a couple weeks we’ll know for sure if we break out of the box one way or another. My odds are on up, after we’ve already had a micro I,II and we’re working on the larger i, ii. Let’s see how it unfolds..

    • On the other hand, a fourth – and I think I mentioned this – could end like next Monday. But it could go all the way back up to the bottom of the 1 down.
      Going to be an interesting week or three – that we’re so far out of shape on the global/US divergence is worrisome, however/.

      • Got your own radio show? If things are more than 6 months out then “never gunna hapin” is the prevailing meme. Then those predicting it within recent memory when it looks likely to happen get the credit and when it ACTUALLY happens all the “WHERE THE HELL DID THAT COME FROM???” crowd gets the attention.
