ShopShop Sunday: Talk Will Be Ending

Before we launch into our Sunday morning diatribe, consider it a duty to pause and pay respects to the laborers who built this country from barren land to a place where odd crops like DEI can flourish.  We remember when Labor was actually able to partner with the Ownership Class and do some pretty neat things.

That said, our favorite summary song is “the Worker’s Song” by the Longest Johns.  If you listen to the words, long on truth and short of BS:

My dad was a Union Member most of his adult life, mainly the International Association of Fire Fighters local 27 in Seattle.  Where I did some time in 1968 as a member of the International Association of Machinists, local 751 as a journeyman R&E mechanic pushing aluminum into the sky. Given time, I figure son G2 will be a card-carrying union member in one of his adventures.

Goodbye, Asia

Now let’s be serious-as-a-heart-attack for a few minutes.

The Ure’s are going through money this weekend like it doesn’t matter.  And, it might not. Because the odds are increasing that the U.S. will be “cut off from the World” before the end of October.  Sure, it could be a “reason” not to have elections, but it’s really more about collapsing the purchasing power parity (PPP) disparity that is presently too large to allow for the orderly transition into a One World government.  Which – if you missed the memo – is the agenda.

First, you need to reflect on the upcoming meeting between Chinese president Xi and Russia’s Vlad Putin.  Our Subject Matter Expert (SME) explains there is a reason for the two to hold a “final face time” before defeating the West in a soft World War.

,”…the reason Putin is going to Mongolia is a kind of big deal. Putin will travel to Mongolia at the invitation of President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh “to participate in the ceremonial events dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the joint victory of the Soviet and Mongolian armed forces over the Japanese militarists on the Khalkhin Gol River.” Two things to know about the Khalkhin Gol campaign. 1) Japan started it, invading Mongolia from out of Manchuria. Their objective was oil in Mongolia and Siberia. The Russian commander was a guy named Zhukov, who won his first Red Star for the victory over the Japanese there. Two days after the cease fire was official in Mongolia, Russia and Germany both invaded Poland. (Russian tsars hate two front wars.) 2) The Japanese Imperial Army staff officer who came up with the Mongolian campaign plan (that ended badly for Japan) was not relieved, nor was he made to commit seppuku. He stayed on the Imperial Army staff. Japan still needed oil. So, he reshaped the war plans, and Japan headed south to Indonesia via Malaysia. To guarantee victory, though, they’d have to put the Americans out of commission. So… the Pearl Harbor attack was devised. The same staff officer who came up with all these plans survived WWII, and eventually retired from the Japanese Imperial Army after the war.

So, although you may have never heard of the Battle of Khalkhin Gol (which lasted months, and during which over 40,000 Japanese soldiers were killed – this was not just some little skirmish – it was a major campaign), that one battle set the stage for all of the action in WWII.

There’s a reason celebrating it will be a big deal for Russia and Mongolia. Oh, and China, too, because it was from Japanese occupied Chinese Manchuria that the Japanese forces came. The shadow of history is long in Asia, while we seem to forget yesterday here in the USA.”

When you read stories about this meeting (Putin to travel to Mongolia next week despite an ICC warrant for his arrest) and consider the recent stories about how Russian plans for a pipeline to China have fallen through, remember there is likely much more going on.  In other words, the whole pipeline story may have been a ruse.  The REAL agenda is a massive global squeeze on the U.S.

It could begin with an attack on Taiwan.  Which, and our sources have been kicking this around a great deal, is almost like two countries.  On the east, separated by a mountain range towering over 10,000 feet in places, hard to defend and not where the tech (like TSMC and other  A.I. gems are located) and food sources are.  The West, from Kaohsiung in the southwest and north from there, you’ve got a vibrant country.

While the U.S. has special forces “advisors” in country – and has had for months – the Chinese are still upset with Nancy Pelosi and other high-profile members of congress who’ve been off to visit and talking support.

What we have in our thinking is only the question of how “hard” China will play its hand.  The low-key approach would be a landing – which we wouldn’t see coming because they have terra-formed the whole east coast of China  (rmember the ghost cities? Well, now they have ghost ports” as well).

If they go “hard” then things like the U.S. forces base on Guam could become targets for their intermediate range (IRBM) missiles.  China would keep it conventional, and carefully so.

The (not impressing us with their competence) U.S. tacticians in our estimate have completely botched the window of preparation for what could become a massive (and effective) set of Chinese sanctions on the U.S. from China-following Asia.

Asia Shuts Down?

Big list of implications, if you think about it for more than a second.

And that’s what we have been working on this weekend.  Imagine the world you know and what it would be like if Asia goes (even 50 percent) offline.  What is still available will be going up in price.

As a result, we made a list of things to backfill so that we will have spares.  Another order into Cheaper-than-Dirt to keep “pests” at bay.

Expecting electronics to go, as this is the winning hand Taiwan has used in global trade, we are adding another 55″ QLED monitor for my office (backup, in the box) and a spare 3,500-watt sine wave inverter in case of another lightning strike near enough to make it through the EMP protective countermeasures.

A new tractor implement will arrive, as well: A six-pin scarifier for the 3-poin hitch on the traxtor.  Another fuel container (gas) and another (diesel) and the filling of each with preservative treated fuel.

There is also a good assortment of field seeds.  Broccoli, wild/brown rice, another big bag oof mung beans for sprouting.

With all this, some urgency since the weekend after the Xi-Putin meeting will fall on the 21st.

There’s much to be done between now and then and we would advise anyone who considers themselves a serious prepper to be “ready” because the prospect of an October Surprise” seems high.  And the dressing down of US envoy Jake Sullivan by a Chinese general ahead of the more publicized meeting this week in Beijing do not (in our view) augur well.

Toss in a copy of the classic book “The One-Straw Revolution: An Introduction to Natural Farming” so you understand the basic concepts of “throw to sow” farming, and now you’re getting somewhere.

Pass the Hoppe’s – we have much to do.  Deer around here don’t seem to bother broccoli much, so the “rifle range” may turn into a 300-foot row cropping area. Got a foraging book handy?

Labor on, dudes. And write while we still can. Wiki-wiki, shop-shop.

Stan Szymanski: We are on the cusp of -hyperinflation-. What is the definition of hyperinflation?

…’Hyperinflation is a term that describes and measures rapid, excessive, and out-of-control general price increases that result in extreme inflation. Inflation measures the pace of rising prices for goods and services in an economy. Hyperinflation indicates uncontrollable price increases over a defined period, typically measuring more than 50% per month.’…(Investopedia)

Will this situation abate or get worse? My money is on worse. How about if we add in the possibility of a looming strike by the Longshoremen (East and West Coast) on September 30th?

…’The looming threat of a strike at all Atlantic and Gulf Coast ports is becoming more imminent, according to Harold J. Daggett, President of the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA). With the current contract set to expire in just 80 days on September 30, 2024, the pressure is mounting on employers represented by the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) to negotiate a new contract and avoid a coastwide strike on October 1.’…(SupplyChain247)

    • Unless I read things wrongly, the East and GOM ports will be affected by the potential strike. I didn’t see anything about the West coast being at risk. Either way it’s FUBAR. Prepping comes and goes – it’s summer and there’s lots else to be done IRL, but updating preps is suddenly important again. I’m OK with electronics(who needs more Android), but for anything in the Linux realm, software is distributed all over the net. Creating something like a package server locally is more work than I have time and energy for now. If the net goes down or highly restricted, we’re stuck with what we have locally. It’s probably past time to liquidate unneeded assets and redeploy into edibles and iron.

Regarding unions: Early in life, I was forced to join two of them if I wanted to keep my jobs. In both cases, they impeded my advancement rather than helping it. Seniority always got in the way and I had to leave those jobs to avoid being stuck on a slow escalator. They’re good for those who want “security”, but IMHO, there is none, and you need to follow their rules rather than making up your own. In my experience, you live or die by your own wits and resources, and flexibility is the ultimate skill.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMOKamtpUA8

      • Yeah, I ran into that in my TV maintenance career also. Was forced to join the union if I wanted to work at a place, but I always considered myself a ‘union of one’ on my own, and leveraged my knowledge and skills above the rif-raf. If a better paying opportunity appeared, I was gone… on to the next adventure.

  2. Got Taters? Potatoes can provide a lot of calories per square yard of garden space. I try to keep some Adirondack Blue, Purple Peruvian and All Red going each year. Yes, the All Red are red all the way through.

The Purple Peruvian and All Red are “heirloom” potatoes from South America. The Adirondack Blue are a hybrid developed here in the US.

For those who want to do the “Three Sisters” gardening, which includes Corn, Potatoes and Squash, I did a little research and found that the Native Americans who grew those planted around an acre per family. No indication how large the families were.

Where I am the ground is poor and the growing season short, so I’ve been trying to improve my garden soil and practicing with what I can grow here for the last 8 years or so.

    • Hay OO,

“the ground is poor” – AmerIndians used to put a Fish in bottom of CPS planting hole for this very reason.

Cue up Lowel George & Little Feat..

      • one of our guys lived through the dirty thirties. how they survived was piled straw in a line.. put potatoes on it every foot then piled straw on top and put dirt over it. the straw held the water . and gave support to the potatoes..on the dirt they planted onions.

    • Couple years back, I grew sweet ‘taters in a half-barrel (wood) filled with potting soil I had left over from a pot-a-thon.

Quite succesful. Reasonably bountiful, and actualy not a bad looking decorative deck plant. Near zero work. Mainly just water. Lotta “mulchy stuff” mixed into the leftover soil…

      • Sweet potato leaves are very good cooked as any other greens–so they tell me. Mustard greens bundled and cut in strips, leaves & stems together, smothered in cooked chopped bacon with the grease and a little chopped onion & garlic to taste.
Add a big chunk of warm, buttered cornbread to soak up the pot likker.
Tomatoes long gone. No good luck with Fall plantings.
Planting in my head………..broccoli starts. Periodically checking the nurseries to see if they’ve gotten delivery.
Missed getting carrots in. Wanted to try parsnips.
Starting parsley again, along with lettuce. Basil still going strong if kept watered.
Ten scant 1/4 cup containers of pesto in freezer.
Life is good in spite of all the Whatevers.
        C

        • That’s the way my mom fixed them.. I never was a fan of mustard greens but lived beet greens..
thanks for bringing back some nice memories..

      • the best potatoes I ever did was in old horse manure. I thought a friend was bringing over a five gallon bucket..he brought Iverson a truck load.. in a small area I got 300 lbs in a 4 by 10 area..I have never seen growth like that since.

  3. George,

August 2024 completed a ACWI world Index October 2020 8-9/24/24 month :: x/2.5x/2.5x equity growth fractal series. Unprecedented QE was followed by unprecedented QE with the time duration of short term minus long term US debt yield inversion exceeding that of 1929.

Starting on 27 October 2023, there are two observable (interpolated) first and second fractal series. The first series is a 55/139 day :: x/2.5x fractal series ending with terminal 139 day second fractal gapped nonlinear lower lows on 5 August 2023. The second series starting on 27 Oct 2023 is a 74/165 day :: x/2-2.5x series ending on 8 October 2024, which represents the initial global equity, gold, crypto collapse low followed by a final lower low in an additional 12 months. The 165 day second fractal is further subcomposed of a 47+/119 day :: x/2.5x fractal series ending on 8 October 2024.

On a daily basis from the ACWI 5 August low, a 6 up-going (7)/15 of 18/15/10 day series ending on 8 October 2024 is projected. In this 4 phase fractal series model, the next three trading days should be valuation declines with evidence of a gapped lower low (as the last 3 of the 18 days represents the terminal portion of a second fractal.)

Systems degrade / fail from more complex to least.

    Off-site supply systems — especially Hi-Tek ones —
fail in cascade, gradually. (Cell, Cable TV & Interet, Power, Phone, city water, etc) Eventually, life beomes stone-age.

Total systems degradation takes a while – maybe days or weeks. Restoration from a Big Event will NOT be a quick thing.

Emegencies get worse before they get better.
    Sometimes. MUCH worse.

  6. I’m going to call you out for holding out on the readers, TEF:

    http://www.economicfractalist.com/blog/2024/09/

Your summary thesis for your 9/1/2024 blog page reads:
“8 October 2024 is the second interpolated series’s Global Equity Crash Low.”

Moving on, in your macroeconomic analysis, what do foresee for credit availability in the 12 months beyond 10/24 ? Interest rates are coming down, but really hard landings tend to be characterized by a breakdown in real credit availability for both individuals with limited collateral and small-medium business ventures. Not sure how to glean that sort of info from your raw technicals. Market price cycles don’t always necessarily affect employment severely, but the ability to meet payroll always does. Credit disruptions contributed heavily to the 1931-32 and 2008 scenarios. And credit that continues to be siphoned off by speculators, which never trickles down to real employers, does not expand an economy. I suppose that gets in to the velocity of money stats:

    https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/M2V

The M2 velocity had bottomed and bounced, but now appears to be leveling. Another downturn eminent ?

    • n_____,
Your posting is intelligently cogent. Observe the Fed Reserve graph that you have presented. In quarter 3 1997, quarter 2 2006, and quarter 1 2024; money velocity has peaked and asset valuation growth representative of the internet bubble, the US housing bubble #1 , and the US housing covid bubble #2, respectively, is simply too excessive for the Fed(the fed does have access to Cray and newer super computers). As a deflationary element and consideration, the impact of a synergistic ongoing property bubble collapse and demographic collapse in China for the global asset-debt macroeconomy is qualitatively much worse than the US consumer asset inflation and US consumer debt crisis. Observe the Shanghai property index over the next 6 weeks (26 trading days . Thank you and please continue posting.

  7. Taiwan has had better than 50 years to prepare. The mountains are full of traps and underground defenses. It would take a fleet larger than the Normandy invasion and coordination. China does not have that. The primary invasion points on the east side of the island are cross covered with artillery. The roads can all be destroyed at vital points. On the west coast the cities are setup for urban warfare. Overtime, the Chinese might win but at a regime changing cost. Finally, Taiwan has missiles than can reach Three Gorges Dam.

    • It isn’t worthwhile to destroy something in order to posses it. China wants to OWN Taiwan for its industries, not just “stir the rubble.”

(IMHO. Maybe they just got a hair crosswise, and only wanna blow it up.)

      • Or maybe WE are the prize, and they’ll make a little noise in Taiwan as a simple diversion?

China should eventually absorb Formosa, along with every other nation in SE Asia. The ChiComs know this are are patient. A little action now gets us to shoot a wad we can’t reload without China.

Also, remember that China STILL makes 100% of ALL massive power transformers. Just sayin’…

      • I don’t think they will.. people in Taiwan have family in china.. my acupuncturist doesn’t feel china is a threat when he goes to visit family and his family don’t feel threatened to travel to taiwan..they ask for respect and honor and a 1 china rule. not a pile of rubble.
while we want everything .. when or if this goes the way the analysts think it will..they will walk in and just take it.. we are to spread out they know it..they worked hard to stroke the greed in the greedy to get their compliance. we used up our strategic reserves and let millions if refugees in from countries that said they would get their vengeance by doing just that..did they sneak an army in..is the question..
we gave away and used our strategic reserves.
the vast majority of society has home loans owned by foreign countries we did port deals and china is one of the countries largest farm land owners. they bought up out grain export and food processing plants..
the war in Ukraine disrupted the grain for most of the world..us included..
the Cloward Piven strategy aline will destroy us..the interest on the deficit ..the wealth have already gad half of what they had taken by the inflation. this is a royal mess.. and no one stuck around to even consider what their own analysts and Generals had to say. off trying to play political alignments instead if oh shit what do we do to fix this. our infrastructure is in shambles our grid vulnerable our leaders all in my opinion morons only seeking the next gift or day off.. if that doesn’t make your grippers snapping like a snapping turtle I don’t know what will. when the hidden army within starts crossing the country like BLM and ANTIFA.. will the democratic party be daning in the street egging them online they did then..defunding the only protection the most vulnerable in our country had..

  8. Labor Day ?
    Labor Day – 1981
President Reagan fires 11,000 striking air traffic controller.
    .
    Remember that fiasco ?

    • The fiasco was the strike.

They were legally barred from ever walking off the job.

The Union thought the Industry (and the Nation) could not survive without the controllers.

Their communist Union boss thought he was more-powerful than da Prez.

By striking, they left Reagan no alternative. The walkoff engendered a political action much more important, and dangerous to the United States as a nation, than just a simple work stoppage.

If you were Reagan, what would you have done?

        • I am reminded from my flight training that the last rule in the book is that the pilot may break any other rule for the safe operation of his aircraft. Good pilots don’t need Air Traffic control. They are an aid… but the pilot is in command, always.

      • whoa there, cowboy – I wasn’t knocking Regan., I personally think it was the right thing to do.., I was merely stating what happened of ‘that’ Labor Day and what a friggin fiasco it was.
        – Please bark at someone else.

        • Ronald Reagan reminded me of DAD.. in the white house.. I truly believe that IF.. the industrialists of the day were like the industrialists of when he grew up.. then things would have turned out differently.. I think he realized he screwed up big time.. when instead of trickle down it went into a jar in the ground.. and that is when the tax rebates went out and free cheese and the best peanut butter around.. no one liked it.. except me.. it was to dry.. LOL they didn’t realize that long term storage peanut butter has the majority of the oil removed.. LOL.. I told them to.. loved that stuff.. add a little peanut oil.. and you got the best ever..
I think that is what I read to.. that the biden administration was going to give the elderly and poor economic stimulous for the next couple of months.. interesting.. to me it is futile but see the point they were trying to make.. make it appear as if the biden harris administration cares about them for votes.. but my image is .. putting lipstick on a pig doesnt’ change the fact that it is still a pig..
and yes that would have the poor spending it and you would see a temporary rise in the economy.. it won’t fix it.. what they should be doing is stop spending and work on our infrastructure.. they don’t even care or worry about what could happen to any of the politicians if they did let a hidden army into the country.. and what usually happens to politicians and their families..

          https://youtu.be/H2F4cArA3uc?si=9CNxzOgHh16Xtbzo

just the beginning.. look how fast that BLM and Antifa crossed the USA doing billions of dollars worth of damage and defunding the only protection of the weakest in the most violent neighborhoods.. all while the politicians praised the horror that was unfolding

        • Apologies, good sir. ‘Twas not my intent to come off as a cur. We think a lot alike, and you took me by surprise…

      • …Which sucks.

When Management plays god, or the union bosses try to run an extortion racket, it is always the rank & file who pay. My Dad was a rep, a nephew was a Teamsters’ boss, they were both bright enough and open-minded enough that I generally got two sides of any stoppage, slowdown, walkoff, or strike.

        • the witch hunts where they fire employees.. is usually the lower ones.. which is why my face prints from when I was thirty two are all over the hospital..
they get rid of the workers to justify their huge wages..
one of my daughters best friends dad was second in command at one of the top two hundred hospitals.. anyway we were having an adult beverage watching the kids play.. and they had downsized.. I worked at the hospital and was making three dollars an hour.. he felt like he was insulted because the only offer he had gotten was for a half million a year in another city and state.. I laughed and said for a half million a year I would let them slap my ass silly LOL LOL.. the engineer that lived with us.. he was black balled and lived in his car.. since he was use to living in a mansion and having the best of everything to him he felt insulted because all anyone offered him was us to let him live in our spare room..

this is just the beginning to.. that video is of aurora again and the taliban courtroom.. you would think that instead of aligning politically the politicians could vagely imagine what would happen if they really did let in a hidden army…. I am waiting to see the democrats out doing the macarena telling us how wonderful it is..

Sunday is our unofficial Mickey Muse Club “Anything Can Happen”, semi non-serious day. Stedda killing it, why not light off a two-sentence greet, and open the comment space, and let us run it.

You don’ gotta write no 7,000 words, and we-all have a Sunday Sandbox to sift the cat poop outta.. (Lots smarter than many other forums…)

    (Maybe can be done automagically?)

    ..just a thought–

    • I have to adhere to the “normal” review (don’t need Homeland visiting because someone sneaks in a t-list watchword, lol)>
But sure. I know the Delicious Debby of Gig Harbor (DDoGH) has been trying for years to work up “the nerve” to post. (Her husband is a multi Bos-Mar runner who has finished well…wish she would update that… He could post too…master craftsman woodworker, too…

      • George , what about an occasional rotating moderator for the day ?

        Nothing TOO serious mind you.

You have plenty of trustworthy people here.

        Any topic they choose.

  11. I tried Masanobu Fukoka methods for a couple of years – was not impressed. The first year was very close to a disaster – but I held on and tried it for the second year, with a few tweaks. Did a little better – but still not impressed.
I happen to like an orderly, well laid out raised bed vegetable garden. I like amending the soil every year with my compost. I like pruning my tomato plants so that they grow six feet tall with an overhead support so they can climb., and really produce !
I am not producing for a community – but for simply two people., and for me, atheistic counts. It is one my escapisms., and sitting out in the garden, sipping a cup of tea and looking at my labor and what it has accomplished is a point of pride – not just a “thing” of labor. I don’t mind the ‘labor’.., look, “I have done this!”
I do however like his method for growing rice – but the square footage I would need to produce enough – for just two people., for a year’s consumption – doesn’t seem worth it – but I may try it again.., in a completely different, un-used location. [Harvesting and cleaning rice is a real time-consuming labor.]
    – My raised beds vegetable garden started out like everyone else’s – but over the years., with all the additional upgrades, improvements and methods added to the “system” of soil-science and growing vegetables, it has become a real labor of love, enjoyment and most importantly – food !
Currently looking at getting a new pressure canner – and for a temperature-stable spot in the house for heavy duty shelving for even more canned food storage.
    – To each, their own.

    • Main thing I have gotten out of him is tossing in some clover to reset nitrogen in soil (they are legumes) so 10 lbs of the perennials are coming as seed. Will overseed the grass out front and make it a deer haven – kinda like a feed lot if I need it…

      • Once one raised bed is done for the year – I till it a little then I cover it with clover seed and water regularly – until first freeze. Looks great and brings back a lot of nutrients into the soil.

  12. i spent the larger part of yesterday doing a sample survey of the portion of the internet.

some of it makes me laugh,
you see George doesnt mention it very often, but George used to have a big goat farm. and 18 years later everyone famous wants to be a goat. even Elon Musk for halloween wore a red Evil Goat costume. which id never be caught dead in. Goats consume everything. i have persononly witnessed Goats will devour an entire blackberry bush, thorns roots and all. so much so it will never grow back. Goats being Goats. That is just their nature.

lmsh, George has a goat farm. effect–> 12 to 18 years later everyone says they are Goat.

except me and few others. im more of a celstial hopping golden egg layer.

George gets rid of those damn goats and now has a tree farm. by the same logic, everyone in 12 to 15 years will be a tree.

    The Farmer and The Dell.

thank goodness George didnt decide to have a chicken and bunny farm. everyone would be a chicken bunny.

we all know, there is only One real…Cosmic Chickenbunny.

Kent Clark had his alter ego, Superman. Bruce wayne had his Batman. Beavus his Cornholio and of course ->

Elon Musk.. ….. The Devil’s Champion.

    https://www.entrepreneur.com/business-news/elon-musk-parties-in-75k-halloween-costume-with-mom-maye/438282

i did see. i sure did see….. that the Hells Angels are heading arora colorado to rescue good citizens from their failed government policies. and We the people said, God Bless them!

hmmmmmmmmmm…. what could go wrong.. ?

did anyone else wake up early, walk out on their gondella look out at the sun rise this morning and start singing the old Christian hymnal,

    I’ll fly away, oh, Glory
    I’ll fly away
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by
    I’ll fly away

    as it is in Heaven
    so it is on Earth.

until we meet again friends among the rustling naughty pines.

  13. i spose the big question is, How Long was George a Goat Rancher?

and if ya have have the eyes to see? you can clearly see
    ..

so I put about a half bottle of warm water in it dropped in a tablet.. 15 minutes later it was sparkling clean. put it on the bottle washer they are hanging on the drying tree now ready to fill..

  16. I have been experimenting with lower cost mechanical (clickety-clack) gaming keyboards and found one I like.
The keys have brown switch elements, meaning tactile feedback, but somewhat less loud (somewhat).
The keyboard has opaque characters and is backlit. This allows you enter keystrokes more easily, especially passwords, in a pitch black dark room.

This is the second MagaGee mechanical keyboard I have purchased ($40), so I am comfortable with using their name. The first I bought still works, but doesn’t have the translucent key characters, so I am using it as a spare. The Amazon photo shows the keyboard with the optional keys installed. The keyboard comes with only gray and black keys installed. The keys will come off if you drop it. I’m still looking for a missing Escape key on the original keyboard. I had a red spare key for that one.

Kamla says no to cashless Trinidad and Tobago, promises $$ to cops

“At the launch of the National Financial Inclusion Survey Report (2023) on August 20, Finance Minister Colm Imbert welcomed the TT International Finance Centre’s (TTIFC) efforts to push TT towards becoming a cashless society.

Persad-Bissessar said “We say no to removing cash.”

She claimed a cashless society would create situations where banks could seize people’s accounts, the government could seize money in the accounts of its political opponents and there would be “no privacy in a cashless society.”

Persad-Bissessar said the UNC advocated the use of a hybrid system of cash and digital payments.

She said people had a right to spend and save their money in whatever way they wanted.”

Kamla is correct. We saw the U.S. financial websites turned off logins…. and most recently Israel took the Bitcoin from Pallie HLDRs. How did Israel know who is who? World’s largest public network, that’s how.

  20. People get heated about unions but I see union management as an unnecessary layer.

Old man Ford knew to pay the workers $5.00 a day before unions came to town.

When Packard went over the falls was the union making sure Packard management maintained the pension funds? No, the pension fund was gone, PBGC was born and .gov made the union members whole.

50 years later when General Motors went over the falls had the union been making sure GM was funding the pension plan over those five decades? No lesson learned there. .gov made the workers whole.

Most recently did unions help fast food workers achieve $20.00 an hour? No, .gov again.

    Boeing, .gov again.

    • do any fact checking lately?
“Acosta, a former U.S. Attorney in Florida, said his office did not become involved in the case until it became clear that Florida prosecutors were “ready to let Epstein walk free.” Once the Feds got to work, he said, they were faced with two bad choices.

A trial, he said, would have been a “roll of the dice,” and he wanted to ensure that Epstein, who was hit with new sex trafficking charges Monday in New York, landed behind bars. He also insisted that Epstein register as a sex offender and provide his victims with a means to seek restitution. The deal was not ideal, Acosta insisted, but he agreed to it to make sure the well-connected Epstein got jail time.

“Without the work of our prosecutors, Epstein would have just gotten away,” Acosta said.

Acosta also blamed the state of Florida for the conditions of Epstein’s incarceration. The expectation when the deal was cut, Acosta said, was that Epstein would serve all 18 months of his sentence in a prison cell. Instead, he was locked up for only 13 months and spent 12 hours a day, six days a week, on work release. Acosta called that arrangement “BS” and said the outrage over Epstein’s shortened, cushy sentence “is totally appropriate.”

      • obd, here’s the truth about Acosta:
‘One week after Epstein entered his guilty pleas in state court in June 2008, two alleged victims filed a lawsuit against the federal government alleging that the so-called “sweetheart deal” with Epstein was reached in violation of their rights as alleged victims of federal crimes. Eleven years later, in February 2019, a federal judge in West Palm Beach ruled in favor of the victims, determining that federal prosecutors in Miami — under the leadership of Acosta — violated the Crime Victims’ Rights Act by not conferring with the alleged victims prior to entering the deal.

“Letting a well-connected billionaire get away with child rape and international sex trafficking isn’t ‘poor judgment’ — it is a disgusting failure. Americans ought to be enraged,” Sasse said in a statement.

        • that is just one view of a much larger picture.
I not debating that the victims did not get cheated by the deal, they did, but Acosta’s hands were tied, justice is and has been compromised by a flawed DOJ

  21. re: Bayesian Coinkydoinks
    feat: O2 + ? = Combustion

    Folks,

UK msm has reported on Saturday’s explosions at an east London area film set which happened 7 days after the approved date for the pyrrhic event. The alleged perpetrateur of the twin detonation is a self-described film producer whose recent cv has been a period of incarceration within His Majesty’s Prisons pursuant to conviction on charges against victims of minor age. The blasts are being referred to as being in the O2 Arena area of Greenwich. However, they actually occurred in nearby Silvertown (which was merged into Newham in 1965 according to Wikipedia). Silvertown dates to 1852 as a rubber factory that went on to construct underwater submarine cables. A three month strike by factory workers in 1889 failed despite support from Karl Marx’s socialist protester, youngest daughter. At 1852 on Jan. 19, 1917, an initial railcar explosion of 50 tons of tnt in the area caused a subsequent detonation of 200,000 cubic meters of stored (coal?) gas.

Although not identified by msm, it could appear the pyro-tech perp has a website promoting dual reality. In it, students of Harry Potter-like wizardry are encouraged to send exorbitant sums of money for a book or 3D map about how to gain world control from a Rothschild overseer. The website, jilliahsmentrinity dot com, looks to be registered by provider One A/S headquartered in Copenhagen. The Danish entity was purchased 6 years ago by the privately held London equity firm Cinven via a San Francisco third party intermediary. The London firm without need of outside shingle for the minions to gawk at resides within a Grade 2 edifice situated in St. James Square. The land beneath the square was carved in 1660 from the Crown Estate of King Charles II by the Earl of St. Albans despite the latter having left a lady in waiting of the King’s mother with child. Fans of underwater explorer and author Clive Cussler are likely conversant with the nearby Diogenes Club founded by Sherlock Holmes’ elder brother Mycroft on the parallel running Pall Mall leading to St. James Palace.

By coinkydoink, the same London townhouse for Cinven also hosts a London office of the formerly Palo Alto now Texan-based HP AI spinoff, Autonomy. Its billionaire founder, long-estranged from Automy and acquitted of US DoJ charges only this past June, perished last month in the sinking of his yacht Bayesian. What can one say – it’s done.

  22. here is a recipe I think looks good.. I haven’t tried it ..

    Cream Cheese Enchiladas

    Ingredients:

1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened

    3 cups shredded cooked chicken

    2 cups shredded Mexican cheese

    3 tablespoons unsalted butter

    2 cups chicken broth

1 (4 oz) can diced green chiles

    8 (6-inch) corn tortillas

    3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

    1 tablespoon lime juice

    Optional: 1/2 teaspoon chili powder

    Salt and pepper to taste

    Fresh cilantro for garnish

Optional toppings: diced tomatoes, sliced olives, sliced jalapeños, chopped green onions

    Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish.

In a bowl, combine half of the cream cheese, chicken, 1 cup of cheese, lime juice, and chili powder (if using). Season to taste.

Fill tortillas with 2-3 tablespoons of the mixture, roll, and place seam side down in the dish.

In a saucepan, melt butter, whisk in flour for 2-3 minutes. Season, add chicken broth, green chiles, and the remaining cream cheese. Cook until thickened.

Pour the green chile sauce over enchiladas and top with the remaining cheese.

Bake for 20-25 minutes. Optionally, broil for a lightly browned top. Allow it to rest before serving. Garnish with cilantro and serve.
