We can begin this morning, to paraphrase reader Andy, “running right on schedule.”
Today, we are focused on the “musical constructs” of world-ending war. It’s graceful, interesting, intellectually challenging. And – oh! – terminal. But don’t go getting the blues because in a cosmic sense the Blues is playing lead in human affairs lately, in case you don’t pick up signals well.
This is because, as I went into earlier this week – and sorry for the excruciating detail in the tempo/tempi discussion if you missed it – the tempo of war to come is still there. But now, we’re seeing the soulful people in the middle east working the edge of “the groove.”
OK, so you haven’t produced enough hit records to “know what Groove is” – so we’re here to help. You know that “beat” in a song? Usually from the kick (drum) or bassist?
Well, a “soulful singer” for example will not hit every beat with precision. This is “artistic license of performance” and so, especially visible when comparing a lead instrument (guitar, say) and the vocalist track on your digital audio workstation. The vocals will not be precisely lined up – or rarely so – and it’s this “offset” that matters greatly in jazz, urban contemp, and it’s even there in Nashville’s outputs – if you know what to listen to.
Oh, and the tempo of war in the Middle East isn’t what’s changing. But one of the musicians – Israel for now – has (appreciating how they “work the groove”) kept their sidearms holstered and jets grounded – but only for now.
There is still a “tempo” and there are still no heart-to-heart solutions. But it’s l0oking (sorry, but this is so predictable in musicology, less so in current affairs) that the musician will be “back in the groove shortly.”
Practical – Tactical
The (musical acting) psychodrama being played out right now will involve a series of “fake outs” by Israel before (returning to the groove) with another “smash hit.” Therefore, a headline like Israel-Gaza live updates: Israel aborted strikes against Iran 2 nights this week, sources say – should be read with an eye toward figuring out “how far out of groove” will this get?
See, in a perfectly “composed” war. Israel would already have done their next move. Today is “about on beat” for a reply to Iran. But, as we have told you, in the “composition of cinematic orchestration” one of the minor subplots that the theme will respect is the financial markets. (How many times to I have to say “War odds low until the weekend close tomorro0w?” There’s a pattern – driven by electronica mind control devices (television, OK?) which dates back to the Gulf Wars – the big moves came with markets closed. And it’s becoming more of a “notation construct” as we move further through the music of Life.
All of which is pretty obscure, but ythe problem with talking about finance in hyper complexity is similar to the difficulty discussing God with someone. There are just so many damn angles that sometimes you have to think – and communicate – in analogies, which is one step up from Parables back in the day.
Hold Off Until Tuesday, Then?
Naw – we can’t go that far. But what we can do is point to one of our charts – this one is our best guess how Elliott waves are rolling in – and notice that we dropped with yesterday’s action, below our 85-day Aggregate Index moving average. Here’s how the problem looks from the lows of last October:
This morning, we are opening index options expiration today. The “idealized (*futuring-based) riff now would be a rally like crazy today, while the covering of the indexes with subordinate equities will work out tomorrow. Higher today, lower to cover would make sense.
There’s also the Professional Bear Problem (PBP). While a rally into the close tomorrow might “feel” very appealing, there’s also a possibility we could come to the close tomorrow right “on” the moving average. That’s when you look at what the charts are saying and make what you hope will be a great call.
The way I look at this: If the market rallies – and I go short tomorrow at the close – a war going nuke over the weekend would be a HUGE windfall for us financially, But, the other way, what happens if Iran and Israel agree to sudden “peace talks” over the weekend?
It really may come down to a decision on whether to wait for additional information – and vow to play only when markets are open. Or, place your beliefs in technical analysis and the notion that peace isn’t the major focalpoint of the human condition.
What a choice, huh?

The diffusion index for current general activity rose 12 points to 15.5 in April, its third consecutive positive reading and highest reading since April 2022 (see Chart 1). Almost 38 percent of the firms reported increases in general activity this month, while 22 percent reported decreases; 40 percent reported no change. The index for new orders increased 7 points in April, its second consecutive positive reading. The current shipments index rose 8 points to 19.1 this month.”

When most people read this, what will jump at them is how all the pieces could be fitted up (flash bangs going off) in short order. But there’s another way to read an article like this. Specifically, I look for “changes to my templates.”
This post is great because it led to a personal template change. Before reading it, I had (lazily) let myself slump into intellectual quicksand. I had become too oriented to the “direct conflict – 4 thousand mile front” model in my thinking.
What changed that for me was remembering that in “push button warfare” it is still possible to leapfrog the unexpecting with a deft change of ground rules.
The unexpected is what turns a very good leader into an exceptional leader. And in the Middle East, this song and dance, we have not seen the Great Tactician revealed yet.
This was not the case in a 2002 wargame the U.S. ran called Millenium Challenge.

That’s how long this morning’s report took. I do a great deal of day planning, even with me 75 and Elaine 81 next week. Every day, when I can arrange it (99.9 of the time) my day begins with a planning routine.
- Health check: Think of the day are going into battle. Are you fit? Need some coffee and an ibuprofen, first? How’s that blood pressure – everyone has their checklist. 131/76 63.
- Weather: Nice and warm here today, cloudy tomorrow – easier driving tomorrow so that cranks into the schedule.
- Supply Chain: This means the bi-weekly food run will be tomorrow. A new red/NIR light emitter is due today (more on this in Peoplenomics next Wednesday…). Heathkit SB-401 ham transmitter will round-out my Heathkit as a baby “Collins S-Line” collection. Checked the USPS tracking.
- Projects due: Left side bar door hinge loose. Reconnect dryer hose which came off. Implement long-term solution to that from this morning’s planning session.
- Order of battle: One hour thirty minutes to write. Rest of the items are in day order in the To Do list which is a popup Microsoft Stickey Note.
It has an almost eerie similarity to planning for a battle in war, if you’ve read DoD manuals.
And in a way it is. Every day of waking life is a chance to do one more thing on the Battlefield of Life.
My preferred weapons of choice are ample cash, coffee or tea, and a good pantry. You pick your own tools. For now, time’s up.

1 Weight under obese – just overweight. Data shows knee in this region.

2. Limit alcohol – 1 measured drink previous day
3, Take one 5000-unit lipsosomal D3 with Mk2/7
4. Stay active, animated – high energy life.
5. Move to tea from coffee
6. 8 hours of sleep
7. Light Crown / Speed Crown
Can’t use potasium chloride with certain bp meds.
Check your meds too. I had problems with the BP Med I was on for years and didn’t know it until I ended up in the hospital during Covid. It shut my kidneys down.

There are some herbal supplements that might help;

All of these can easily be looked up on the internet so you can decide for yourself if they may benefit you. The breathing exercises are free and the herbal supplements relatively cheap. None of these will be instantaneous BP droppers – but give them up to 3 months for trial.

It is a nice thought.. but will there be one. The idea of a rapture as it is currently defined is not found in historic Christianity, and is a relatively recent doctrine originating from the 1830s. The term is used frequently among fundamentalist theologians in the United States. We broke the Edenic Covenant.. although there is some reference to the return of the Nephilim.

After reading the news this morning…,
Sitting here looking at a detailed map of the Middle East [ I have been building one for a couple of years.] and pondering “Strategy & Tactics”.
Israel got punched in the mouth., like one person posted on here., as a “test run” from Iran. ., and so far, the response from Israel has been…, talk.
Probably trying get a feel for the international response to their counter-punch., while keeping track of exactly where Iran moved their assets after the initial assault. Makes sense.
But in my view., they are now taking too long., and it is being judge as fear. Not just being cautious., but seemingly out-right fear of the possible reprisal, once they do a counter-punch.
That possibility should have been calculated long ago and up-dated weekly. They should have been ready to go within 48 hours. They may have been., but something is holding them back. Making them delay to the point of the world questioning their resolve.
To me that is a bad strategy.
But, in the off-chance that this waiting-game is just a psy-ops against Iran and the rest of the Arab nations – then that counter-punch is very likely to be rather massive and quite destructive. In waves.
But then, there’s that international problem again. What will Egypt do if Israel launches a massive ‘Shock & Awe” attack against their Arab brother, Iran., and sends them back in time fifty years.
Gamesmanship – I used to be pretty good at that. But that was on an individual basis., a few times against a small group. Easy to do. But on this scale ? Not so easy. Not when one of those counter-punches could be nuclear. That’s a different game altogether. You just went from checkers to chess – in a heart-beat.
That’s above my pay-grade.

In the fall 1939 Germany did it’s invasion and the Brits and French declared War on Germany, which promptly declared War on them … and then the two looked at each other across the border FOR MONTHS!! NOTHING was happening. Some thought that was maybe the end of it and for all intents and purposes the War was over since the Brits and French had no intention of invading Germany to “punish” it for their invasions to the East.
Voila in May of 1940 the War erupted overnight into a full scale War and by the end of 24 hours there was desperate fighting everywhere.
Patience if you know it is coming … it will arrive.

I’ve been in a NyQuil coma all morning, so I missed the comments. One of my techs caught the crude and then I did, so I took off today and I have been sleeping for pretty much the whole day.
BCN is right about blood pressure. When I was in the hospital, they finally convinced me that I had high blood pressure and I took one dose of a blood pressure med. Then it went too low.
After 6 weeks of home healthcare with the dressing changes, my blood pressure was normal every time they checked. In the hospital, I did knock it down with some mind/body relaxation techniques. So, the setting definitely counts along with the fact that you are out of danger of dying.

My question has been and still is: How do we get them to stop this? We have known for forever that this happens all the time., but I have never seen any one make a stand and say – no more. I have even heard of anyone saying they will stop it. They point it out.., show the proof – everyone is indignant and then they all head out for the lunch party.
IMO, reasonably honest politicians get to D.C. with every intention of fixing these, and other problems, then discover that the issues amongst their “colleagues” are so pervasive and deep-rooted that irrespective their conscience or desire to “fix things,” they can’t, and eventually allow themselves to be bought. They don’t want to “sell out,” but end up with no choice, unless they are willing to abandon their Party’s financial backing.
