Prodding Powell, Charts, And an Off-Planet Tale…Sailing Notes

Trump and Feb boss Jerome Powell are doing what Bankers and Developers have turned into an institution: Arguing about rates. Trump again calls for Fed to cut rates, says Powell’s ‘termination cannot come fast enough’

Meanwhile, early Futures were way down on the Dow but actually up a bit for the techs – leaving us waiting for more Rally because we have so far failed to break lower.

The yellow arrow on the right points to the upper level where the rally (if it can keep going) seems likely to run out of steam.  But there’s a real bum’s rush on to keep the market from going higher today and it likely has something to do with Middle East, Easter, Iran – but not enough logic to it to be shortable yet. Least-wise to us’ns.

Especially now that we’re reading Diplomacy wins: Trump blocks Israeli military action against Iran and other versions – like Dramatic report: Israel planned to attack Iran’s nuclear sites – and was stopped by Trump.

Our view of tech hints that up is still ahead because the trend change hasn’t broken yet.

And from Stiks who as readers know lives on a sailboat as he and the missus are down in some tropical bay near to where there are people and such.  But not many, and not much… But his summary of life at anchor on a sailboat just nails the vibe around here,  And rained like hell down there…

But in the tropics? Fore deck and a bar of soap? (From an earlier email from the real Reality):

“I know what it is to miss being  on a boat. It was something I could never leave behind, even while I was flying the globe and being ‘successful’. There was always a longing that I  have no more. “

Elaine and I envy Stiks and company; having lived a decade on a boat as I did, the land (and the yard work that comes with it) is just nowhere near as much fun.  Plus, the closest thing to crab you can pull out of a yard in East Texas is crabgrass

” Spent doing what a long life of hard work is giving… doing nothing. But that is so much better than having nothing to do….”

And so, off we all trundle along into Thursday, trusting Stiks to hold down the anchorage… I mean, it’s a tough job, but someone has to do it, right?

As the rest of us rush off to do more of whatever it is that’s so damn important to get done before we all end up in the same boneyard; a little shy on adventure and never enough good memories. Too busy to remember who’s driving our lives…

  1. Hey Stiks, nice outdoor shower. I was staring at the pole trying to sort out a Yawl boomless rig then wondered, a Cat rig? If in tropics it might be constant wet. I have never failed to shower in the rain when presented the opportunity. Two sailor bud are sending daily “wish you were here” text msgs with BVI photos. You’re killing me smalls! Enjoy one and all.

ECB cut. Again. Thanks Euro Bankers! There is a large divergence in The Force this morn. It’s hard to reconcile Chips vs. Tech pre-mkt prints. Can UHC represent that much DJ whamma jamma? Or, when a mongo health plan misses badly and sneezes, do the rest catch cold? We wonders Precious.

Big day for a next door neighbor. They endured two summers with an outdoor project hanging over their mojo. Now, a full 6 months latrer, they are getting concrete poured (so, in a week that Mrs can park in her attached garage again.

  3. George – I see you are referencing The American Tribune this morning in regards to election fraud issue. Passed this site through TheMediaBiasFact website, which you brought to our attention and have referenced either here or in the PN side. Here’s their summary of the American Tribune:

“Overall, we rate the American Herald Tribune a Conspiracy website based on promoting false flags and connections to right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.”

Looks like an unreliable source and confirmation bias trap.

One person’s vale is another’s farewell. Resist! They want you to chase after rainbows. Pseudonym ‘Tyler Durden’ of “Zero Hedge” allegedly has Russian connections via Sofia in the form of his father’s monthly blog “Top Secret” (no sarcasm intended) according to “Wikipedia”. Interestingly ‘Mr. Durden’ published a report this past January alleging a link between an American duo, Hunter Biden, and Burismo of Ukraine. As chance would have it in his January article, ‘Mr. Durden’ deemed it unnecessary to remind readers of his alleged late 20th century finance career connections with what may appear to be a father of one of the duo. Following DoJ actions to address alleged insider trading malfeasance at the time, ‘Mr. Durden’ had found a new career with “Zero Hedge”. His business acquaintance the father however ran aground upon the shoals of a separate $60 million fraud. He no doubt looks forward to a release with good behavior from Hotel California in time to celebrate his 80th birthday later in the decade.

Late last month South Africa’s “Sunday Independent” published an op-ed based upon a story from Madrid’s “Confidencial Digital”. Apparently President Zelensky was perturbed that his former Ukrainian General now UK Ambassador purportedly held secret peace talks at Barcelona Airport with the Secretary General of South Africa’s ruling ANC. Here is the link to the “Sunday Independent” article:

        https://sundayindependent.co.za/dispatch/2025-03-23-zelenskys-profane-outburst-over-secret-barcelona-talks-involving-sa-officials/

The “Sunday Independent” is subsidiary to a holding company owned by a South African billionaire. As chance would have it, this holding company allegedly received an important minority shareholding financial lifeline from an entity registered in Mauritius which is a subsidiary itself of state-owned Chinese television.

Public record indicates that President Zelensky’s delayed visit to South Africa of April 10th is still on for April 24th. Hopefully “Zero Hedge” or one of its associates will offer coverage should a former US First Son, publicly seen about Capetown of late, have opportunity to match paths with the Ukraine President.

You want to work less because of your age? Check out Antonio Dal Santo, he’s 95 still goes to his housewares store six days a week.
Wears a suit and tie very day.

“Nomads” (gypsies) came into his store, a couple with little kids, they let the kids run wild, so Antonio came from behind the counter because he was afraid they would break something, then the adults took cash from his cash register.

As they were escaping, some people outside the store suspected something was not right and got them on film with their phone cameras. Hopefully they will get caught.

  5. Health Prepping: Did AI Just Cut Cancer Risk by 90%?

John Rubino: Artificial intelligence promises a lot of things. And sometimes it delivers. One possible case in point:

Doctors Justus R. Hope and Paul E. Marik specialize in finding new uses for existing drugs, and recently asked an AI to look through all available studies (something way beyond the abilities of human researchers) involving supplements’ impact on cancer risk.

The first pass found three supplements — EGCG + Curcumin + Vitamin D — that, taken together, seemed beneficial. Hope and Marik named the mix Root Detox™ Protocol (note the trademark — they’re clearly looking ahead to a supplement line).

The initial cancer risk reduction looked like this:

  6. The ‘time and space’ remark brings to mind post-WWII stories, particularly the Philadelphia Experiment and later the space-time tales about Montauk Island. If these rumors are true, the government has been studying space-time tech for 70+ years, perhaps much longer. But then, if time manipulation is involved, 70+ Earth years is a null in the equation.

I am a believer that the key involves the quantum principle of non-locality, where if you split a photon and send each halt in opposite directions (traveling at the Earth measured speed of light), then manage to flip the polarization of one of the halfs, the other mysterious flips at the exact same time. Einstein called this the “spooky action at a distance.” Other quantum particles behave the same way.

Take this principle one iteration forward, and time as we experience it may not exist at all for photons, e.g, light. Light theoretically might have no past, no present. It just is – no beginning, no end. So if light exists across all time and space as we know it, it encompasses all events, every past, the present and all possible futures, and all potential iterations of those events (based upon an observer). VERY spooky and decidedly mind blowing indeed.

        • again, you should read the constitution just one time, completely beginning to end. look up the definitions of “citizens”, “people” and “persons” before you do. make sure you pay particular attention to when each of these words is used throughout the constitution.

it’s too hard to actually try and decipher your gobbly gook word salad of a “comment” to respond to.

but really, please read the constitution just once.

  8. do you support american democracy or a authoritarian? it’s time to choose and there are only two choices.

“It is difficult in some cases to get to the very heart of the matter. But in this case, it is not hard at all. The government is asserting a right to stash away residents of this country in foreign prisons without the semblance of due process that is the foundation of our constitutional order. Further, it claims in essence that because it has rid itself of custody that there is nothing that can be done. This should be shocking not only to judges, but to the intuitive sense of liberty that Americans far removed from courthouses still hold dear. The government asserts that Abrego Garcia is a terrorist and a member of MS-13. Perhaps, but perhaps not. Regardless, he is still entitled to due process. If the government is confident of its position, it should be assured that position will prevail in proceedings to terminate the withholding of removal order. “Facilitation” does not
sanction the abrogation of habeas corpus through the transfer of custody to foreign detention centers in the manner attempted here. Allowing all this would “facilitate” foreign detention more than it would domestic return. It would reduce the rule of law to lawlessness and tarnish the very values for which Americans of diverse views and persuasions have always stood. If today the Executive claims the right to deport without due
process and in disregard of court orders, what assurance will there be tomorrow that it will not deport American citizens and then disclaim responsibility to bring them home?? And what assurance shall there be that the Executive will not train its broad discretionary powers upon its political enemies? The threat, even if not the actuality, would always be
present, and the Executive’s obligation to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed” would lose its meaning.

  10. Sarah Huckabee Sanders signs bill allowing gold to be used as a transactional currency

Arkansas on Thursday reportedly became the first state in the country to formally allow state and local governments to accept payments in gold or silver as legal tender if desired, after GOP Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed the bill into law.

Sanders’ signature comes just days after the Arkansas state Senate unanimously passed the bill in a 33-0 vote. A similar bill passed the Utah legislature, but was vetoed by Gov. Spencer Cox last month.

The move is also being considered in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas.

  11. a little over 255 years ago five americans were shot and killed by british troops. interestingly, the first to die was an escaped slave, crispus attucks. many say attucks was the first to die in the american revolution. eight british soldiers, part of a foreign army occupying the american colonies who actually took up arms and shot and killed colonialists, were charged with the crime. these british soldiers were accorded full due process despite the heinous events of the Boston Massacre. they were indicted and had a defense attorney. eventually, after trial six of the british soldiers were acquitted and two were found guilty. their defense lawyer was none other than john adams. adams went on to help draft and sign the declaration of independence, helped to draft the US Constitution, served as George Washington’s vice present and was elected the United States second president.

    • If you’re asking from a critical or contrarian lens: no, he’s not a total fabrication. But like Paul Revere or Betsy Ross, Crispus Attucks has been stylized into a larger-than-life figure—because his symbolic value speaks to national identity and struggles for inclusion.
