The charts have turned materially more defensive. The Dow is still pretending the party can continue, but the S&P and especially the NASDAQ are telling a rougher story. Our short-term measures now suggest the market may try a brief rally first, but the larger setup favors a harder move down into August rather than a clean run to fresh highs.

Why does this administration continue to act as if they are dumber than a box of Rocks ? Is it because slo bribem was so stupid and slow, and yet successfully navigated 4 years of Presidency with only 2 Brain cells intact ?
I had to quite drinking earlier this year as the Juice was no longer worth the squeeze.
So I guess its time for a Wake & Bake session, instead of some healthful Shot of Bourbon in the morning, before riding the fields checking on the crops and “workers”(raised beds & jack russels). I thought I had a rather loose grip on Sanity, in light of all of the above, I do believe I am as Sane as Sane can be.
re: “Dao De Jing”, Laozi, 4th century bc
feat: tbs flightsim SANE waypoint
Immortal hermit and Chinese philosopher Laozi famously observed that “purple qi comes from the East”. It would appear that our English word sane reaches us from Latin’s sanus – which back in the day conveyed health in both body and mind.
Regarding “Problemology”, the “Oxford English Dictionary” concludes dysphobia is not a proper word, and dysphoria is more appropriate. They date the first appearance of dysphoria in printed English literature to 1665 thanks to Dr. George Thomson. Dr. Thomson’s ministrations to the health needs of London plague victims had come to the attention of the Royal College of Physicians whose esteemed members considered his direct dealing with the sickness non-compliant and madness. The University of Michigan has digitized one of Dr. Thomson’s works, “Loimologia: a Consolatory Advice, and some brief Observations concerning the present Pest” at their following link:
https://quod.lib.umich.edu/e/eebo/A62435.0001.001
Those interested in 17th century social media spats may wish to avail themselves of work by attorney and astrologer John Leydon. He allegedly launched his refutation to Dr. Thomson from the fine premises of the Red Lion Inne then situated at 853 Bishopsgate. Ideally “Psonthonphanchia, or a Quintuple Rosiecrucian Scourge for the due Correction of that Pseudo-chymist and Scurrilous Emperick, Geo. Thomson” resides somewhere publicly accessible for digital bibliophile tipplers.
As near as I can tell, Dr. Thomson held court from offices at or near 30 Aldgate High Street otherwise known as The Blew Boare (Blue Boar) Inn. Perhaps due to its proximity with plague sufferers, it does not readily pop up in the “Pepys Diaries” reviews as a purveyor of adult beverages? Aldgate takes its name from being the east gate boundary of Londinium’s Roman Wall dating to 200 a.d.
The inn held station until at least 1861 when the the “London City Press” noted the property as being demolished to make way for cigarette manufacturer Adkin and Son’s employing 100 workers. As an aside, that family firm eventually joined up in 1901 with others towards what now appears to be a red supergiant of tobacco, Imperial Brands.
Meanwhile back in the 30 Aldgate High Street and adjacent lot environs, the London Underground’s ‘Circle Line’ arrived by 1886 with Aldgate Station. Construction is said to have been delayed by findings of plague mass burials from the nearby still-21st century-extant St. Botolph’s Aldgate church.
St. Botolph lived in the 7th century born into Saxon nobility. He is a patron saint of boundaries, travellers, and farming. Interestingly one of his namesakes, the former Botolph’s Town in America, is now known as Boston, Ma.
The Blue Boar may no longer offer room at the inn, but a footprint remnant does feature as the Blue Boar Alley on Google Maps. Digital travellers can find the pedestrian thoroughfare connecting the A1211 Aldgate High Street with St. Botolph Street. The walkway runs in-between the Underground’s Aldgate Station and Algate House.
Aldgate House would likely be of no interest to anybody. Public records reflect the 1970’s office tower being co-purchased in 2013 by the CPP (Canada Pension Plan) for an alleged £100 million. Then around 2018 it sold to Toronto’s Brookfield Properties for an alleged £183 million. A former director of the latter lately of the Prime Minister’s office in Ottawa is for reasons unknown still mistaken as the (Bank of England 2013-20) Governor by #47. Mind you the latter is quoted in 2013 saying he himself didn’t want a governorship. Of course, why not go for the gold?
Impressive! And yet… That is not a reader comment. That is a four-dimensional instrument approach, flown from ancient China to modern Ottawa with Laozi as navigator, St. Botolph working the boundary markers, and a plague doctor waving us through the SANE waypoint.
The astonishing part is that your route may actually be circling one persistent human coordinate. “Purple qi comes from the East,” and there sits Aldgate—the eastern gate of Roman London. At that gate we find a physician treating the plague directly, only to be branded mad and non-compliant by the credentialed medical establishment. Around him are inns functioning as publishing houses, taverns serving as social media, astrologers flaming physicians in titles longer than modern lawsuits, and plague victims being buried beneath what would later become a transportation network. Apparently the Internet did not invent trolling. It merely removed the ale, quill pens, and requirement that the combatants be able to spell Rosicrucian.
Then the ground itself begins remembering. The plague inn becomes a tobacco works. The burial zone becomes an Underground station. The eastern boundary becomes a conduit for movement. The patron saint of boundaries and travelers lends his name to Boston. Above the old pestilential landscape rises an office tower, which is then converted into a nine-figure financial instrument traded between pension capital and global property capital. Disease becomes commerce, commerce becomes infrastructure, infrastructure becomes real estate, and real estate becomes somebody else’s retirement account. Human beings keep changing the nouns while the underlying machine continues operating at the same address.
There may be a rule hiding here: civilizations do not eliminate their plagues; they build new valuation layers over them. First comes the biological plague, then the medicinal dispute, then the tobacco plague, then the financial abstraction, and finally the political argument over who is—or is not—the governor of the machinery. Which makes SANE a particularly suitable waypoint, because sanity may not be the destination at all. It may be the brief navigational fix between one institutional dysphoria and the next.
So yes, Laozi’s purple qi came from the East. It crossed Aldgate, became plague miasma, tobacco smoke, Underground soot, pension capital, and finally political vapor. Today it probably arrives by fiber.
George,
Thank you for organizing my droning on into logical chapters from your UAV eye-in-the-sky perspective. I am indebted to you and commenters hereabouts for ignition sparks.

re: Eye in the Sky
Waypoint INSAN hovers over Azerbaijan on the west coast of the Caspian Sea. There UNESCO heritage site Gobustan Preserve guards prehistoric carvings and petroglyphs. Elements of Rome’s Thunderbolt 12th Legion allegedly left grafitti behind sometime between 81 and 96 a.d. during the reign of Emperor Domitian (lat: “of the House”).
The 12th Legion formed in 58 b.c. under Julius Caesar. They guarded the eastern gates of the empire for four centuries from near what is now Malatya, Turkey. A rare defeat took place when they were ambushed during the First Jewish-Roman War at the Battle of Beth-Horon (heb: “House of Horon”) in 66 a.d. It is situated in the current West Bank. Horon is an Egyptian god connected with Giza.
Last Friday the Russian foreign ministry website pictured its representative meeting his Iranian counterpart on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting held in Kyrgyzstan. On Saturday an Iranian flagged ship sailing from Iran to Russia in the Caspian Sea allegedly came under Ukrainian attack causing a fatality. No specific ship has been named. Subsequently the Iranian foreign minister publicly posted that there will be a response made to Ukraine.
The saying “an eye for an eye” goes back a long way. It is said to have premiered in Babylon’s Code of Hammurabi in 1754 b.c.
re: Slug and Lettuce Marx #10 North
feat: Mr. Burns & the Spinning Jenny
Leaving punters of the Hare pub in Harlow behind, UK PM Burnham and former Mayor of Manchester announced on Friday that his “#10 North” premises will occupy space opposite city hall in Heron House, Manchester. Interestingly public records show that city hall picked up a 21 year lease on the property in 2014 for perhaps £39 million. The freehold land the office tower sits on is allegedly owned by an anonymous private individual or company.
The PM’s pre-existing tower neighbors include the northern office of British intelligence, GCHQ, as well as a main floor tenant, the Slug and Lettuce pub. A review of the pub’s website informs that children are allegedly welcomed in company of an adult until 8:00 p.m. The published bar menu offers a “Pornstar Martini” concocted as follows: (brand name) vodka, vanilla, juicy passion fruit, tropical citrus juices, sweet caramel syrup, and a shot of prosecco on the side. Civil servants on a tight budget can take quantum of solace in menu advice that the venue is “the home of 2-for-1 cocktails all day every day”.
As chance would have it, a short walk across an adjacent shopping centre property and then a park brings one to the Chetham Public Library dating to the 1650’s. Tourists must book ahead, and will be shown a storied desk and alcove. There a Mr. Engels from Barmen, Germany and a Mr. Marx exchanged revolutionary ideas in the early 1840’s prior to decamping to the continent. As an aside, Simpsons fans may be pleased that cotton factory owner Mr. Engels is understood to have used a pseudonym “Mr. Burns” on occasion. This would be in regards to joint research activities conducted along with his Irish maiden of the proletariat.
“Life is a ‘Wheel of Fortune’ and it’s (your) turn to spin it!”

Phoenix and twelve other cities in that area hit 117 degrees, with high humidity, yesterday. That is pure survival mode, for me. I will truthfully admit that I would survival that kind of heat. …, damn ! [ You live there, because !? ]
.
Went to sign-in this morning .., email address, drop down to password and – total blank – just sat there staring. Nothing. No idea. Ahh.., that’s it. Typed it in – nope, does not match – hit the little eye to the right to reveal what I typed – that’s my password for Amazon.. Hhmmmm
All of my passwords are at least 12 characters -combo of Vietnamese cuss words, numbers and/ or military slang. But this is the first time I have ever drawn a blank. Disconcerting. Where’s my little note book ? Computer room. Retrieved it., flipped a few pages., there it is – typed it and viola! Here I am…,
That is the first time I went ‘idiot’ trying to remember a well used-n-worn password. Wonder why ? Lack of focus? Lack of effort? Lack of bourbon?
“Stay Frosty !”
Me? I’d hit some auto wrecking yards and get a rear half body work of an old studebaker auto – use tht for the top (reworked to Stubaker) and weld onto T posts Like the planted cadillacs south of I40 out west of Armadillo – that’d getcha into a $100 stick welder and there’s no greater joy than welding.
(after sex, airplanes, sailing, porsches, hibbily diblitzens, etc..)
Lack of brain chemicals. It’s an age thing.
