Honestly, not too much to look at in the news flows overnight. If you like Trump-bashing, plenty of filler and time-sinks out there. But, if like us, you’re looking for indicators of Future, y’ain’t gonna find ’em in courtroom filled with political psychodramas.
Housing Starts
Came in stronger than we expected,..
M’eh.
Future’s just turned bullish – so we look for the rally we’ll be talking about in a second to “get real” sooner than later.
The Four Thousand Mile War
Imagine (as a mental working model, intellectual construct) that World War 1 is being replayed in these-here modern times. Except, it’s a different front – offset to the East from the original laid out in Guns of August. Privately, we have often wondered how much “concept” for the Barbara Tuchman book was inspired by the 1915 book “The Guns of Europe” by Joseph Altsheler which came out in 1915 and is on Gutenberg, if you’re interested.
Monday, we talked a bit about the various tempos/tempi in human affairs and this also set us to wondering if the work of Nostradamus, so ably chronicled and extensified into present-day terms by G.A. Stewart at The Age of Desolation website, was somehow facilitated by humans “running in the same ruts.”
One of these days, I’d like to have the deep convo with Stu about “method” and start work on collecting how it was Nostradamus did his work.
We know that the Future casts a long shadow before it. Predictive linguistic which Clif High rolled out two decades back is based on earlier (though weaker) notions about “words as key to future.” For example, the use of Word Frequency Analysis in World War II.
But we also see in the literature that unagumented (computational) humans have some good “hits” guessing Future History. The Oracle of Delphi – hydrocarbon gases – Jules Verne (we suspect brandy) – and even John of Patmos. who’s Book of Revelations is surely on the all-time best sellers list.
If you’re going to take up a personal quest for the future, though, better hurry. Because as Stu recently wrote “The Dying Time is Here.”
Us? We’re to ADHD – and Lazy!
We hold that another way of seeing/understanding, and preparing for the Future is by looking at both data flows and simple charts.
For example, we have a 25-year fascination with the similarities of government-policy-driven (expediency) expressed in secular investment trends. As we compare recent times with 1929, it looks like this:

The recent sharp downturn in markets may have seemed a breath-taking event, but as you can see in the chart above, a modern replay of the Great Depression won’t become apparent for another year – and perhaps two – depending on how the human propensity for use of flash-bangs works out in this economic cycle.
R.N. Elliott was a legend of finance for his discovery of “Elliott Waves” which have proven their durability over time.
Today’s Stab at Future
It should be obvious, but we have applied a few pointers to our Elliott wave interpretation of markets and to us it looks like this:
Seeing the short-term Future thus becomes child’s play. As you can see, we are in a micro 3 down which has high probability in our work of turning higher, perhaps into the close by Thursday of this week for Options. That will be a “micro 4” – remembering we are still in minor 1 down. of a Macro 3 likely starting up.
The Macro 3 is where we get slogging in a Depression after this year’s election, the Treasury suffering years of neglect of a free-lunching congress which has hollowed the US dollar out to the point where debt is now 97 percent of the dollar’s content. Only about 3 percent has purchasing power.
This is no idle slam; the data on the Minneapolis Fed website confirms. Just put $100 into their inflation calculator in 1913 and see what equivalent purchasing power would be in 2023: $3,083.09. Then tack on another 4 percent for inflation in the past year and we come up with $3,296.41.
Divide our $3,296.41 (and a fraction) into the starting $100 and the present purchasing power of the Federal Reserve Note (not even a Dollar, anymore) is just 3.117 percent. A 2001 paper I co-authored (“The Mazurok-Ure Correlation”) held that revolutions tend to occur in a zone of money corruption when purchasing power drops below 5 percent of the original currency.
If you’re surprised by a new film coming out about a New Civil War, you’ve skipped a good bit of economic history.
Hat Tip to Reader Ray: For pointing out in our Comments section that a few high profile people are starting to wake up. With a specific reference to Renato Moicano explains why he shouted out the Austrian School of Economics during viral UFC 300 Octagon interview | BJPenn.com.
What’s Next?
Well, we’re in a Puetz Crash Window, as we have talked about in recent columns. We have the Hitler Birthday bad juju window this weekend, too. And in the Monday report, we talked about Tempo/Tempi with the expectation that Israel will “cool its jets” (literally and figuratively) until the markets are safely closed for the weekend.
You can see the set-up in our work on differential moving averages. Which is a big-picture of how human perception is always playing catch-up:
When we rolled out this chart (on Peoplenomics.com – my other website) it was accompanied by a simple (personal, not advice) “Blue under Red play short or be dead.”
Like Stu wrote, “Dying Time is Here” in the charts, too.
The Bitcracker Suite
You may have noticed that the Ure clan tends toward simple, slow, reasonable ways of making money. We told you when we bought a “lone gold round” in 2001 for $273. And how we bought a little bit of silver in 2005 ($6.97). All we have had to do is stay alive and let inflation save us. I give credit to my late friend Howard Ruff who I interviewed several times back in my 1970s news-chasing days. You can still find Howard’s book in thrift shops and on AbeBooks.com now and then. That more people didn’t make millions from his work says people like to buy books but it’s apparently hard as hell to carve out the time to read them. Let alone then taking the time to implement into your own Life plans.
Easy Money is what pulls the suckers in. Since, gosh, the beginning I have consistently told you one thing. I won’t touch crypto currency. Its too much like a Ponzi scheme, there’s no core value, it’s a pissing away of vital energy resources, and government will – when the time is right – kill competing means of exchange which dodge taxes.
Have you seen the shit going down in BTC lately? Here’s the Elliott count that keeps us out of funny-money.
Got down to $61,902 overnight. Those stodgy old boring things? Gold Futures traded $2,408 and silver kissed $29.10 before coming down a bit. And sure, not as exciting as a fast car, sailboat, or airplane. But who needs money for excitement?
That’s where we see things early today: Waiting for a short-term low, then a rally maybe into Thursday, and then the sell-off returns with a vengeance into the weekend and all hell next week and leading into a spectacular “sell in May” possible with the Fed decision (not to lower) coming May first. Yep, Mayday – Mayday…. it’s where America is right now.

Just a quiet spring day shaping up... This is day #2 on tomorrow’s Peoplenomics report, so off for a bite and then key slamming for the balance. Hope your week is going well…
Trying to think of what to get Elaine for her birthday. Says she has everything she needs. Damn tough one. What does a person need at 81 that they haven’t worked out sourcing on in the previous, um, eight decades? It’s a real head-scratcher and the clock’s running…. Ideas welcome.

The only solution is to require proof of ID, residency, and CITIZENSHIP at the polling place when you vote, as well as when you register at the County Clerk’s office. We can have none of this idiocy of letting random partisans or party reps register you – it must be done in person, unless you require a home visit by the County Clerk due to infirmity, and then you also have to prove you are alive.
The laws are on this are very clear, unlike most of the BS that comes out of DC.

Sampson has entered the chat.
I have 2 cats. over the years, we’ve had several more. I’ve noticed an intereting thing. I call it a “Brain Frame.” (BF)
A cat sits and yows by the door the “lemme OUT, Human!” yow.
You walk over and open the door. The cat does NOT immediately go out. He pauses, sniffs the air a bit, looks at you, looks outside, pauses again, and THEN goes out. If you do ANYthing — talk to him, move your feet an — inch, shift your weight — his BF re-sets, and he goes back to Evaluation Mode for another BF time period.
This takes about ten or twelve seconds, unless you cause another BF re-set. Cats, I have observed, run at an effective Brain Frame Rate of 10-12 seconds, normally.
Most humans do not have enough patience to remain silent and motionless as the cat’s BF runs. So, they think cats are skittish.
By extention:
Humans have a BFR, too. Mine’s a couple of seconds. Some people are much faster, some slower. It’s a purely internal, and slightly variable thing, seemingly.
Seems reasonable:
Groups of humans may have a Brain Frame Rate, too. A mass-thinking, public opinion thing, that seems to process or develop over a few seconds to a few years, depending on the mass of the Thing Under Consideration. This explains a lot from reading menus to picking politicians.
…just like cats.
That is a rich and rewarding paradigm, Wm. Thanks for sharing it.
(I just stared at my kybd for 10-12 seconds…yup, real…)
Be cautious about what you stare at. Might get you slugged.
Now ‘that’.., is funny !
I really do believe it’s a True Thing.
It may be VERY important. It may
be silly as well. Still Evaluating…
I believe it is ‘true’ also. Have witnessed the same behavior. Auto-survival tactics. They can’t help it.
oh I think the cat is just not appearing too eager to respond to keep you in line…
The little house dog does the same thing. Anxious as hell to go outside, but when I open the door he stands there and sniffs, looks up at me to see if it’s OK, then reluctantly pads out the door.
OMG, I must be a cat!
That’s what I was thinking!
I ALWAYS let my eyes adjust and check my perimeter before I go through the door. ‘Applies pretty much to any door I go through, where I’m going from inside to outside, or outside to in.
Thanks for saying it…
I say put up a stand alone vote for border security. And not the get the ILLEGALS in quicker like pedo joe asked for. Put the security funds on the back burner for now.
I meant to say put the ukraine /israeli funds on back burner.
If we wait just a few months, they may be irrelevant. I’d put the money into getting Baltimore harbor working again. We can recoup from any guilty parties in due time.

sounds to me you have some of the titles for Ure Movies.
and
i have the title for mine, hanging on the wall, at the end of my bed. first thing i see, all lit up every morning is
La dolce vita. and truly it is ~ The Good life ~
as The Dude at the theater said to me, its perfect for you.
the term Romance comes from Roman languages.
latin and itallian. it occured to me, i had spoke into my life, Sumus Fortuna. latin for High Fortune. that took me to The Mountain for a year.
and brought me here, and now. entering into
La dolce vita.
sounds to me you have selected some of the titles for Ure Movies.

my favorite cup finally got a crack at the bottom..slow leak..
my bowel is getting micro cracks in the finish.. now what does that have to do with the story on warnews… just like our military components uniforms technology raw materials .. my dishwasher and all the electrical components even the lining and case..my milk jugs.
all made in china.. my slippers were made in Vietnam and distributed by the US govt.
we sell our imaging and targeting abilities to Ukraine Israel and anyone else that will buy them..
it’s always a business model and all countries use them .. the number flow. our stock markets and commodities depend on a flow of numbers and goods..
I bought a video projector and screen at the VA commissary made by one of the companies manufacturing stuff for the sale and consumption in russia.. to use when we have an evening fire so the kids can watch a movie on prime.
many of the television shows are made using equipment and materials..our steel ..oh the list is so long..medications.. so my question is why is their business models questioned at this point in time. war is money and business..we use war to benefit so do they..
I guess maybe I’m just looking at this wrong or something..

re: “waiting for the beat”
lyrics: “oh, what a night…”
Folks,
BBC 2 has apologized for last Sunday evening’s unscheduled technical mishap during the 5 o’clock newscast. The Kool & the Gang A-side “Ladies’ Night” apparently meant as intro for East London Black comedian Judi Love’s guest host gig was broadcast in accompaniment to Israeli IDF reportage of incoming Iranian drones. DJ George fans may be particularly partial to the hit cover by the “Atomic Kittens”.
re: “Jam Tomorrow”
feat: Alice in Wonderland
Folks,
Hark! The white Queen’s promise of “never jam today” is on the cusp of being struck down? The BBC Royal Correspondent advises that the Duchess of Sussex, lately of Montecito, has released an initial numbered batch of fifty (50) sealed jars of strawberry jam to influencers. Apparently the Duchess’ billionaire fellow polo spouse from last weekend is in possession of #10. Correspondents will be urgently reaching out to DJ George for delivery verification?
The price point of the bespoke spread remains a tantalizing mystery. However the public broadcaster has revealed that a similar product at the Buckingham Palace Gift Shop retails for £3.95. Bring bread; cash accepted. Makes a great gift and supports a worthy cause?
God save the King!
TBF, Moicano is a Brazilian fighter. I was as impressed that a kid from Brasil(sic) would read Mises as I was, that he would tell stupid Americans that they should…
Yes – I was impressed you caught it – and disappointed no one in ‘Mercia seems to be hip to it..
Any references to spectator sports and especially fights is an absolute turnoff so I ignore it to the best of my ability. Fighting is awful, but occasionally necessary, in which case the overwhelming fury of a berserker with zero empathy is appropriate. For me, it’s not enjoyable in any way at all. I abhor war, but if it must occur, it should be quick and devastating, leaving no possible response, and perhaps nobody to respond.
There’s no such thing as a “fair” fight! That’s just a sucker’s game or if between nations, a “racket”.
Others disagree. So be it.
BTW, yes, I have read Ludwig Von Mises.

Seriously, I suspect she needs nothing.
Accordingly, what you’re really looking for is “what does she want?
If I had to guess, she would want time with you, or a piece of jewelry which celebrates her children (assuming she’s on good terms with them), or a new gun and a day or three at the range, with you, or a spa day with a mani/pedi, or his & hers combat drones (ever see control line model airplane combat?) and opportunities to go forth to the north 40, to play combat with you, or…
Get the picture? She would want something which either celebrates her life, or celebrates her life with you.
If’fn you choose the latter: Since I don’t picture either of you grabbin’ a Bee No.97 and joining a euchre or pinochle club, what she gets would needs-be something where you both could put away your competitiveness and just play — y’know, like kids…

Some poker players never figure out when to fold’em and just let it be.
When everyone want the last word, or in this case, the last attack, this could go on forever … which might not be too far off, depending on how much bigger the bombs get.
(“US to hit Iran with new sanctions in “coming days”, Yellen says”)
Hmm.. interesting concept.. BUT… as the Bric’s is working hard to dethrone the Fiat Currencies.. what affect will that truly have.. especially since all the manufacturing and crop growing countries are now going to the Bric’s??
Kind of like saying you are not allowed to buy Coke or Pepsi.. while the store has the store brand sitting open and ready to be purchased..
The company that sells the uncola 7-Up..Snapple and Dr. Pepper.. they quit having salesmen make a commission so they salaried them.. no one cares if they sell those products at.. all the stores have cut back shelf space.. the company only hits the big cities.. and even there the salesmen don’t care about selling it the drive to sell it is gone they get paid either way.. I tried to get them to let me have a quarter of our state in the wastelands told the head of the company I would take him with wearing a monkey suit the product sells itself.. all the small town merchants said they can’t even get them to deliver it.. I was going to get a truck and go from store to store and sell the product then deliver it.. as long as the company doesn’t have any interest in distribution or sales I would have an open market.. but I wanted the whole quarter of the state not just the smaller stores..( that is how chips and snack cakes are marketed.. jobbers) they didn’t want to give up the bigger markets they have to show that something is moving.. I said why not just duct tape the doors shut if you don’t want to sell your own product…. so I didn’t do it.. can’t buy it no cooler space ..and even in the big cities the product has the worst shelf spacing anyone could give them.. the stores have no interest in a company that has no interest they in turn are expanding the shelf space for their products.. so what will sanctions really do to the people that are expanding their shelves for store brand products.. we are resellers.. not manufacturers.. we like the company that sells those products have no interest in making it.. heck even the jugs and bottles and cans are made in a bric’s country.. having sanctions you should have kept control over its production and distribution.. not throwing it away..

A perfect calming influence on an ADHD guy who needs to slow down at times.
Hope you find the Perfect Gift!!
Amazon has some cute “cat hats” in the shapes of fruits. Not very expensive and quite humorous.
Trust me – black bunny ears are better, lol
I’ve heard it said that, with time, men become wiser with age. Sometimes I look back and wonder how I became an exception to that rule.
you are not alone in that exception LOL LOL I swear I have the same issues with myself.. LOL
I’ve always found it difficult to imagine and find any gift for a woman of any age. Yes, the thought counts, but most men don’t think like women and certainly don’t feel like them.
Apparently women spend more time and money on experiences than things. That’s why more women than men voluntarily dress up, dance, travel, and see plays, movies, operas, and concerts. They also enjoy eating meals in fancy environments, along with clubs and other social events. Why not create an experience by breaking your hermit vows for at least a day or a weekend? Find somewhere that will cater to her desired experiences? I’m not the one to answer what she wants, but perhaps this approach helps.
George,
I just want to relate that it is impossible to access your fine website with my cell phone. I now have ads both top and bottom on the phone screen, which I am not able to X out of. Google places these ads and will not allow you to exit from them. I can still access your website with my tablet, thankfully.
PLEASE! Google has a complain about this ad and if everyone hits that, it will be noticed and hopefully something done!
they did.. instead of one huge ad they put two up one from the top and one from the bottom LOL..
I actually had a curiosity on what the post was about then this popped up and I knew it was me messing with google ad’s.. LOL

George, comment?

I’ve been thinking about ordering a small quantity, just to find out if it’s something the prepper with everything should have on his shelf. I figured I’d ask someone who’s forgotten more about battery tech than most “storage solutions engineers” will ever know, before I did…
OK, I ain’t George, but I’ll chip in as a retired Chemist. Products like that have been available for decades and I’ve never seen one that actually seems to work.
The best way to extend the life of any lead/acid battery is to not discharge it any more than absolutely necessary. People seem to think that if a battery is labeled “Deep Cycle” that they can discharge it all the way and then recharge it. No, even a “deep cycle” battery shouldn’t be discharged any more than 50% if you want to keep it around for a while.
There are just too many things going on in a lead/acid battery to “cure” with a chemical additive.
If a battery won’t hold charge, it’s scrap unless you can rejuvenate it somehow. There’s a junkyard trick of throwing a battery on the floor(with caps in place) a couple of times(don’t do this with a polypropylene case), then charging it using whatever voltage gets it to accept charge and break through the sulfation. I use a variable voltage high amp supply that can go 0-50V. That sometimes works. If it works, cycle as normal for a starting battery to keep it working.
Another trick that has been done is to zero the voltage from the battery and reverse charge it for a long time. I did that as a teenager and it worked for years. Of course, batteries have changed a bit since then and are a bit less tolerant. YMMV. The most important thing is to have a variable voltage charger that has plenty of power and shows both volts and amps at the same time. That way, you can see what’s happening in real time rather than guessing.
I’ve not done anything with the various chemical treatments. I imagine some of them work some of the time. Again, if a battery won’t take or hold charge, it’s worth no more than scrap, so anything goes as far as fixing it. There’s no helping a shorted cell unless you’re going to rebuild the battery. Sometimes draining and flushing the battery and adding new acid can help. Lots of stuff on the web if you have time for it. George is the expert on how batteries are supposed to work, and redneck junkyard types are the experts on forcing things to work that are not supposed to. Good luck!
