Market Hypes Higher (GMAFB) – Texas Chainsaw Madness + A Super Whine

Puke Monday. Inner ears will “tumble” from weightlessness. Fresh spikes in the punch bowl.  Dow futures were +900 points earlier.

Second Coming at hand?  Um….no….

What we think is going on?  Someone (besides us) figured out the abyss was open and the world was about to fall in.  So let’s all get the Plunge Protection Team to jump  ALL-IN via the offshore proxies.  And give the Confuser-in-Chief a flying palace to keep him in line.  Trump administration poised to accept ‘palace in the sky’ as a gift for Trump from Qatar: Sources. Study the following and tell me this looks like an “honest” market?

Yessir, our expected – but only without massive government manipulation – outcome is out the window.  The punch bowl was clearly spiked because with he 42 under the 85 day average and the 85 ALSO under the 200-day average, something had to be done.  As in Stat!!!!

We will have to wait for others to weigh-in: D’Lynn and Egor along with The Economic Fractalist.  But my sense is, this is what happens when the government hits the “PRTSCR” button.  Two week (or two-day) wunder-rally?

CPI tomorrow.  Bugly and fugly because this is when trade-excuse price hikes begin appearing?  Data lags… And does that, in turn blow-up the Fed rate drop hype?  See the problem, yet?

For today, if you’re wondering “How far is UP, anyway?” think of this next chart as “Destination Rehab?”

About the time we hit that line (a week, day, or a few minutes from now) Trump will be able to claim “See? I told you invest!” The Central Banksters will buy gold, and with the BPLTM (big pile of long term money)  we’re skill popping :skepticism pills” until the 42 DMA is over the 85.

THE POTENTIAL GOOD NEWS?  If we could keep going higher over summer and hit a new all-time high… Amnd that could postponed global meltdown into next year.  Still, we’re not betting on that – so we’ll just watch that resistant level and see what’s next.

Punch Bowl Check

Who’s He?  He is hopeful the can has been kicked more than 90-days down the road…  Key takeaways from China-U.S. high-level economic and trade meeting?  But, for now, it’s a 90-day solution and we all know how “trial separations” work out?  U.S., China agree to lower tariffs in 90-day cool-off period.

And no surprise to see BTC lined up at the punch bowl, either: Goldman Backs Bitcoin ETF Surge as BlackRock’s IBIT Breaks Inflow Record.  $105,000 briefly overnight…

Not in the Punch

Hamas is still outplaying Israel by working Western Liberals: After direct talks with Hamas, Washington secures release of US-Israeli hostage.

Keep an ear open for racists on the left to whine as Refugee status for white South Africans: First group flying to US.

Possibility of talking turkey on Ukraine will be where? Zelenskyy challenges Putin to meet him in Turkey ‘personally’ for ceasefire talks. But the shooting continues…and we sense war clouds over Europe.

Ted Talks: TED CRUZ tells Mark Levin that Iran is actively attempting to assassinate President Trumps.

And we’ll believe it when we can read it: Dan Bongino: FBI Releasing Files on COVID Coverup, Mar-a-Lago Raid..Yeah…uh….tick-tock…

Around the Ranch: Texas Chainsaw Madness

“Electric Things” from Amazon didn’t do so well in April around here.  I had put in an order for a super-discounted e-bike from Chyna (*$299 – which was more than 1/2-off).  Bike didn’t ship, but then I got told that with Amazon (nowadays) you can only cancel an order within 30-minutes of clicking or you have to wait until x-days after your new “sparkly” was supposed to arrive.

Honestly, I thought it would be kinda cool to have an e-DB (electric dirt bike) to tool around the property because our perimeter here is over a mile. Fast silent patrol, right?  Well, nope.

There’sFreesky that looks pretty good except, here lately, Amazon has been going nuts on added shipping on expensive to ship items (e-bikes) which drops the value of Prime.

So, I gave up,  Old men (over 76 now) I supposed don’t need to be dirt-biking in snake and feral hog country…Universe does drop hints.

Take a tip from a nearly “senior” – when a path into your personal future becomes littered with obstacles – take it as a hint and stick to the “low-resistance path.”  Better on karma along with blood pressure.

Time and Chainsaws

This e-bike disaster (roadblocks and obstacles) left me with an unallotted pile of FRNs about the same time two other things happened around here.

  1. One of my big fire breaks has a very flammable tree laying across it…
  2. Our homeowner insurance went up 30%.

Home insurance companies, as a group, have turned into financial rapists.  Our increases were wholly one-sided.  They want more, but they give less.  No adjustment (not even a dime) on the payout side,  Screw ’em.  We will go with liability only because the home is the cost-driver.  Something about “in a forest fire prone area.”

The insurance would come to just under $2,000 OR less than $500 going with liability only.  Not a hard choice.

But this now circles us back to the blown-over big pine laying across the fire break.

While we have an assortment of chainsaws around here, the more I use those little 6 and 8-inch electric chainsaws (that come with two batteries, if you shop) the more I like electric.  I picked up a really nice Oregon  electric with a self-sharpening rig on it.  (On sale for $97 now.  Yes, of course everything goes on sale after I buy it!)

Works dandy except for one tiny issue: The Cord.  See, the fallen tree is >300 feet from the house/shop.  Hmm..

I hit the Zon again – fingers pre-treated for credit card burn – and came up with a suitable 60 volt 5 amphour battery saw that promises it can cut up to 200 4 X 4’s before needing another shot of juice.  It happens to get incredibly good reviews, but again, Amazon seems to be letting merchants “tidy up” their profiles, so the truth is in the pudding, as it were.

Thing about trying to “go all-electric” around here is that after over half a century of mixing gas an oil, I have finally decided to hang it up.  Not because living in a “gas dump” was dangerous – life’s full of dangers, right?  No, this is a “time thing.”

If I go over to the country store in Montalba, Texas, it’s pushing 40-minutes round trip.  Then doing the mixing routine… Power tools really like fresh fuel…so how much is an hour of time worth?  Plus with all the solar around here, we can recharge even after the end of the world.  (Yes, Ray, we do have back-up inverters and backup MPTP charge controllers…)

Digital Hell

Two huge time sinks this weekend?  The Starlink pop3 access to our phone and ISP provider fell apart this weekend.  So there went a couple of hours – changed over to IMAP (which is god-awful slower since it’s a “chatty” protocol.

Which failed about the same time Orifice365 rolled out their latest stunning BETA candidate on the hapless computing public.  If this pops up on your screen:

Don’t try it unless you have recently retired and have a lot of time on your hands to be an unpaid beta tester.  (Can someone please tell LibreOffice to mix in a basic email program into their suite? I’m in.

Oh, and May 8th Elon’s SuperGrok deleted my whole account and canceled my $300 annual subscription access.  I hired the bank card dispute folks to go fight that BS. I will sign up for $30 a month instead of $300/year – because SuperGrok is great even if the Accountants and wheeler-dealers at X.ai can’t return emails or fix broken crap like account access.

Which gets me to the morning’s last acerbic view:  GOD I HATE APPS!

Everyone has gone”app shit.”  Yes, phone disease has made the leap over into the general public now.  What’s more there are thousands of companies online now that REQUIRE you to have a phone so they can send bullshit texts to you!  Want to look at your StarLink account?  Can’t get their with your Win11 anymore. Gotta load BlueStack and download the app from the PlayStore – this is such a pant load of time waste I can’t see straight!

No. I don’t use a cell phone for anything but what?  (Making the odd phone call when traveling?)

Not everyone needs an ear-warmer or digital umbilical.

Morning’s like this (market on fentanyl, can verify it’s me at the end of a landline and other idiocy like that) that nothing ever gets fixed anymore.  The markets are still algo-rigged, the trade mess is still a what?  (All-together now: “A mess!“) And Indian-Pakistan will be hot again before summer’s out – bet me?

BONE Us Super-Whine

I have mentioned before that I’ve come to believe there are severe problems in the US Postal Service distribution center in Coppell, Texas.  USPS is generally very good.  But I bought a collection of old books on CDs last month and still not sure it will ever get here.

Study this tracking report and see if you see the Coppell problem:

Absolutely stunning, isn’t it?  Package gets to Coppell (Dallas area) May 4 and goes to Tyler – just 40 miles away.  Too close, the package goes where?  God itself only knows. I don’t know how many “next facilities” there are between here and Coppell, but it’s 120-miles if you drive…

DOGE?  Oh, wait. It’s a semi-auton0mous bureaucracy!  And if I try to complain?  Yep: Customer server routes to?  Coppell!  May 4 – May 9 Coppell couldn’t route it right!

  1. We are considering self insuring on our home. In the last 8 years our home owners insurance has increased 300%. No claims on house or autos. A few people on our mountain have done this already as the cost is becoming untenable.

    • Oh I hear you on that…our home and car insurance was 2/3rd. of our monthly income..it took a lot to get them to lower it..each time I raised deductible they would rewrite the policy to stay just about the same.. in march I told my daughter ( our agent) drop all of them if they can’t get it lowered..well they lowered it but its all still four hundred a month.. taxes doubled its a quarter of our monthly income I got car tags they to doubled … between taxes and insurance ..we end up with about six hundred a month for everything else..I keep telling the wife we should sell out and move into a trailer camper.. low income housing..more than what we make.. health insurance.. the people spend trillions because they have to have it fixed any clinic doctor.. to companies that refuse to pay..it could be fixed but then at what cost..the people would be ok but what about the people that depend on the policies the agents..
the adjusters that say your scrap is worthless.. doctors well they don’t get it..its a shell game..they refuse to see anyone without insurance sending them to the ER so that the facilities rent goes up.. A ten dollar Kleenex a twenty dollar bandaid.. to keep in budget the reduce staff for younger by eliminating the higher paid employees.. just to maintain their side and seven digit incomes..
give away lucrative vacations and buy multi million dollar homes give huge bonuses to entice new doctors and researchers.
all while more are joining the ranks of the needy..Of course that’s why the USA has one of the WORSE healthcare systems in The world..if you have money its the best ..they will keep you alive until its gone..

        • Exactly..its a shell game.. how can insurance company reap huge profits if they actually paid for damages..its the same with health insurance or disability insurance..I bought into the scam..employers and banks pushed the what if..and for a broken bone or stubbed toe..no problem.. but if you have a deeper issue more serious.. I am sorry please re-submit..
or you end up like the engineer that lived in our spare bedroom..he had it all..the million dollar house the large income a vacation condo.. then the one two punch of fate.. Katrina took out his home then a horrific oil spill and explosion where he had to testify. and told the truth..black called his degrees amounted to about as much as the insurance policies.. ( they should be written on four inch wide soft paper ) if you have a y medical issues..before Obama care ..you couldn’t
t get insurance at any cost after Obama care you can get it but they will basically say now bend over here’s the cost..without the policy your unable to go to a clinic if you don’t have the money ..they send you to the ER where the cost of being seen is outrageous.. the funny thing is enough money is paid in for healthcare trillions of dollars.. its all about the business model.. who makes the big wages and who sits at home eating snack ramin..

  2. George : a cheery weekend because we agreed to something with a Big Dog trading partner (though most “deals” are enormous undertakings so it’s more a framework than an agreement).

Rally hats are everywhere on Broad and Wall this morn. Can the move stick a perfect landing? TBD. My elder(ly) sib was born in Missouri but I have never lived there. Show me.

SPX (^GSPC) looks likely to open through the recent 05/08 peak at 5,720 then set sights on the 03/25 peak at 5,787. If that peak gets taken out it becomes more likely we revisit the ATH. For Now? Running of the bulls. Take care with stops …

ATL : enormous MayFly hatch overnight. The house is creme colored brick and … apparently the bugs very much like our vibrant indigo exterior light. Our fam. has been here since 1957 and I have never seen so many bugs.

    • VIX finally dropped below 20.

I was expecting the market to climb until at least the VIX dropped below 20 showing that fear had finally disappeared but had no price target as to when that would happen though I was looking at the potential of it being right at the 200 day and 84 day line (which were basically right at the same level).

VOILA we blew solidly past those moving averages level today at the open and the market doesn’t show any signs of being weak up at it’s new level which puts a climb the rest of the way to the ATH as being a real possibility.

With the VIX now below 20 the juices of GREED are now getting to be back in control!! ALL HAIL TO THE BULLS! Of course that means that the upside trade will quickly become one sided which sets up the potential for another large decline sometime (a week? a month? 3 months? … I have my opinions).

One thing to keep in mind is that Trump REALLY wants to ride around in his NEW 747-800 before the world falls apart (the 800 model is actually a MUCH bigger 747 than the old 200 model is he currently flies in – 30 feet wider!!, 20-30 feet longer … with an upper deck that is 60+ feet longer, with MUCH longer built in range, and MUCH heavier).

People may poo paw the idea but I think in Trump’s mind he REALLY as in REALLY REALLY REALLY wants to get to ride in the new very luxurious plane and doesn’t want anything to get in the way of that.

  3. Re: USPS
One pkg took 8 days from Houston processing center to Liverpool, TX
Another one from Liverpool to Tulsa went via Rochester, NY, then Syracuse, NY then Dallas, Amarillo then finally Tulsa. One long trip.

Hate Apps ? Say what ?

Obviously you dont do any Bird Watching/Photographic Capture.

If you weren’t a Bird Killa, and instead a enjoyed the beauty of living Creatures – Birds, you would know that Cornell Bird Labs” Merlin Bird ID app is the only way to Bird watch.
The app records and ID’s the Bird sounds it picks up. Once heard and ID’d – you are 2/3’s the way to an official sighting…now where is that oh so elusive Keel Billed Mot-mot?

Ure Apprehension to Apps would also help further explain why Texas is Below Average in Financial Literacy, according to robinhood/zerohedge-https://www.zerohedge.com/personal-finance/minnesota-most-financially-literate-state-us .

Youse remeber “no bitoins 4 g”?
There it IS – No Financial Literacy – if you dont Hold it, you dont have it.bwahahahahahahahah

Of course none of that comes close to our collective illiteracy in regards to TIME. Yes – NSA hid the MAYAN Astronomical Computer System from Us all.

” In order to institute the Gregorian calendar and induce total amnesia upon the human race the demonic Catholic church had to get rid of the real time keepers which were the Mayans. They did so with great gusto and by 1556 it was forbidden in Spain by the Inquisition to print any books about America without special license from the Council of the kingdom of Spain. The remaining manuscripts were taken to Madrid where they were assiduously rewritten under the watchful eye of Juan Lopez De Velasco Censor of the Council of the Indies. All except the Dresden Codex which is why Dresden was carpet bombed.” -J. Heart

  5. George, interesting that you default to government manipulation of makrets. My guess is the big financial firms that control something like 80% of stocks. Let the market drop for a while so lots of people short. Then boom, they all put in the calls and we get an orgasm of money flowing in. A few days flying high and the richies take their winnings and the game goes down again. No government interferrence seen here.

  6. USPS just started handling a lot of Amazon pkgs previously done by UPS. Our mail lady says she sometimes does 200 pkgs a day now.

  7. (“Old men (over 76 now) I supposed don’t need to be dirt-biking in snake and feral hog country…Universe does drop hints.”)

Years ago my grandkids had me build them a ramp and landing platform..this would be taken to the edge of the parking lot .. where they would peddle like hell ..hit the ramp and land on the other side..it was spectacular to watch..the young evil kneviels enjoyed it very much.. I would sit in a lawn chair and keep an eye on them just in case..
    https://youtu.be/LClwSeWaLe0?si=3_xVg_ODx-Zd9YXD

the wife would at times go bike riding with the eldest grandsons and their friends.. well one day ..I was sitting there on the edge of the parking lot.. the first grandson whoosh…yippeee… lands..the second one …whoosh yippeee…then do it again.. I would laugh and enjoy the spectacle… when out of the blue..I hear this laugh..those kids had convinced grandma into taking the jump.. she yells out …” HONEY LOOKIE SEE WHAT I CAN DO…”
I look on in horror as she proceeded to peddle fast by me ..going slightly slower than whoosh..hit that ramp.. the front tire hitting the edge of the landing plat form..the back wheel going over head on a flip the wife hitting the ramp and dirt beyond..me racing to see if she was the latest applicant for the Darwin awards… luckily she survived the ordeal got banged up a bit and was sore for a couple weeks.. I still as a joke ask thewife..wanna do something fun we should go ramping.. lol
needless to say she made me take apart the kids ramp..
so G…. remember the Darwin awards are always looking for new applicants…

  8. “Iran”

Yesterday I was listening to preacher man reruns on the radio. He was going on about how Iran would have nukes by August 21st. Later in the show he revealed the year as 2003. Current events over 20 years ago had everyone looking at Iran. Today the preacher, Brother Stair is long gone – dead.

Insurance, what can you do? $2,000 a year… If the house fries how much is the hotel stay while you figure out how to rebuild? If the hotel is more than $2,000 for the month, and it is, get insured. It all adds up. Even after 40 years @ $2,000. Is the palace/contents worth > 80K including hotel stay?

    • Maybe you were listening to Brother Stair?

Must be dead for a decade but still on the air.

I remember discussing him with a friend W3HQX a decade ago, I said the same thing!

Now HQX is gone almost that long and recently I heard Stair on 2 or 3 frequencies at once.

I wonder where he is broadcasting from?

      • Yes, it is that Stair. Sometimes Stair complains about Reagan going to meet the Pope in Alaska and how they’re setting up to take the planet. The Reagan/Pope visit happened sometime during 1984. Great stuff.

I’ll also listen to Art Bell, Somewhere in Time. The people from that time saying they’ve seen a Chupacabra in their time cracks me up. Now that most of us have 4K garden cams Chupacabras evaporated.

Many pre-4K cam folk say they saw space aliens back there too. The current George Noory/Clyde Lewis/others style shows have modern space aliens living in bases under Area 51.

The conspiracies always move to ‘just out of reach’.

    • Agree on the Insurance issue.

Only time I would be without insurance is if I was already rich and could easily just pay to rent a place for the needed 6 months to get the place squared away and then put another trailer on the space and fully equip it with what you had in it. (probably at least $40,000 at replacement cost for what is in it, may be closer to $60,000). I imagine to replace what you have there, NOT counting the shop, would cost you $150,000 minimum. If you include the shop with what’s in it that could easily be double (at Replacement Cost pricing) .

Self insuring is one thing if you are in a location where the risk is minimal … another thing entirely when you are in a wildfire area like you are.

      • At one point I didn’t have car rental on my auto insurance policy. The car got cracked-up and I ended up rushing into buying a new car because of the rental cost. Now I always carry rental.

As I reported the last car accident to the insurance company they lined up a rental for me. It’s worth during time of stress to have prepaid service that’s “like a good neighbor”.

If my house fries I’m taking the check and won’t be rebuilding. I’ll fill the basement hole and have a spare lot.

      • Insurance is mandatory if you have a bank loan!!!
for seeing a doctor.. when my grandson had strep throat..they asked the daughter to put up a five hundred dollar deposit or go to the ER or the free clinic..the free clinic was booked out almost a month.. my doctor that I see friday..he makes 650 grand at the VA and has 16 weeks of vacation plus every federal holiday..if he works vacation right he can push that utilizing the federal holidays ..the golden goose healthcare and retirement no school loans or.malpractice insurance expenses no clinic space rent or supplies..in at 8 out at 3:30.my charge is fifty per visit..

  9. Update on the gruesome text… the kids and grandkids asked yesterday ..why did I change my numbers.. I recounted the incident where I plugged the phone in to be charged only to wake up to a string of threatening I’m going to murder you and your whole family using personal information offered on the get to know you sites and including that information in their videos.. if you don’t send five thousand..videos of someone with an American accent then gruesome videos and photos..I would delete and block.. then new ones came in.. from all over.. so I dropped the cell phone.. never answered any of them.. then on the land line phone.. they started.. ( thank god I don’t know how to access the call log or message machine.. we never use that phone..the one I did hear was some woman crying saying call me its an emergency)
to say I was worried and scared is beyond words..the threats aren’t just a random bulk text the threats are personal.. and focused..
anyway the grand daughter said dam..she works at a retail pharmacy..and management has told them to question all elderly buying 500 dollar gift cards that there is a threat going around aimed at the weak poor and elderly..the ones no one could care about..they hadn’t ever seen what the threatening text message looks like.. but it gave her more focus..they get several every week that come in to buy one of those cards.. and its increasing.. that’s just one retailer..imagine if this is hitting every retail store..

  10. I was waiting for the Core CPI numbers [ due out tomorrow ] but now I figure they will largely be ignored as the tariff wars have subsided.,[ “It was all due to the tariffs!” ] for a while. I did not have a trade on the table when the market exploded this morning., but I was looking for down market opening – nothing big., just ‘weak’.
Will the market close above the 03/25 peak of 5,787 [ SPX ] ? Currently sitting at 5,811. ., up over 151 points. Very well could. The S&P gaped up right at the opening bell., but that rarely is a good thing.
To me., they are simply putting lipstick on this pig. This whole week could very well be a huge mess. The markets have yet to correct their over-evaluation [ P/E ] problem., and have not priced in a possible recession. Those two biggies are simply being ignored.
    – For me.., it’s a “wait-n-see” for a few days as all this false exuberance plays out.

    – Sitting on the side-lines is cash feels pretty good at the moment.

  11. Update on the remake of the CACAO wine… I put the clarifier in it and did the degassing into the secondary fermentation tank.. took a cup and drank it down..dam that’s good.. I had to let out a chuckle.. the first batch sucked..then I calontacted a vintner that made a batch for a magazine article.. he set me on the right track..this batch is excellent.. did you and E ever try the beet wine.

  12. Folks,
Greatest thanks to the publisher of this fine tome informing by “BBC” link of the imminent arrival to America of 49 disgruntled white Afrikaners. The matter was also reported on by the respected South African media icon, “The Sowetan”. Apparently the emigrant group departed by charter flight to Washington after which the travellers would disperse to Texas. There was no mention if jobs awaited them at a certain GigaFactory. “The Sowetan” informed that they had been denied permission by authorities to interview the departing passengers. However the outlet was given a “Reuters” image. Its photogenic, white, blond wearing a Trump red MAGA cap beacon appeared described as a “life coach and campaigner for white South Africans”, Katia Beeden. A separate review of her website offers that she is a “self-love coach” as well as a “narcissistic recovery expert”.

“The Sowetan” is a subsidiary of a South African holding company which itself is subsidiary to a privately held African holding company, Labashe (‘Legacy Balance Sheet’) Investment Group. The latter with investments across Africa was co-founded by a pair of South African multi-billionaires – one a white Afrikaner and the other a black South African.

Don’t get frustrated waiting in line for some thin gruel from a “Seinfeld” soup nazi, grab a brunch platter with DJ George. Here we go with a solid gold number from Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers’ “Damn the Torpedoes” album –
(You don’t have to live like a) “Refugee”.

    • re: “Play With Fire”
      feat: The Rolling Stones

      Folks,
Apparently there were service disruptions on the London Underground following a power failure Monday afternoon. The Rolling Stones warned against playing with fire in St. John’s Wood. On song, the following link to the incident page of the London Fire Brigade describes a power cable fire on a sidestreet off St. John’s Wood Road.

      https://www.london-fire.gov.uk/incidents/2025/may/electrical-substation-fire-maida-vale/

The London Fire Brigade website thus far has not recorded two fires at properties associated with the UK PM from early Monday morning nor a vehicle fire last Thursday parked outside one of the properties.

Interestingly the BBC journalist covering the PM’s property fires story is their Kyiv-London correspondent. As chance would have it, the first follower to his “X” account is the former Ukraine Foreign Minister from 2014 to 2019. The latter appears to have played an early mid-90’s role in the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement which took effect in 2017.

  13. Germany just gave Putin a 12 hour ultimatum to accept the peace deal. Two hours ago..,
    .
.., or what? They will attack Russia? Seriously, dude !?

    • Pooters in response to his German adversaries truce ultimatum; dropped his oh so Russian pants to ankles at high Noon, bent over and shot that coke sniffing faggot merz a Full “Flower” Moon.

Took a selfie of it all and sent it via Telegram to flamer merz.

Thus closing that “door” on Urepeein history.

      Next up – Hazel

      • BCP,
“Telegram” public media channel “Wartimedia” offers the alleged real thing video clip allegedly featuring three masterminds of “The Coalition of the Willing”.

  14. A neighbor bought 2 ebikes. She put her foot down to stop, like you do with regular bikes and broke her ankle. She sold it to a neighbor. A couple weeks later both were stolen.

I thought they were pretty cool and considered an adult 3 wheeler but the city has been digging up all the streets to replace sewer lines, and now are marking gas lines. The local roads are really bumpy.

I saw a cool tiny 2 seater car recently on the internet but I doubt they would be suitable for rough terrain.

Lots of people here have tiny gas powered motorcycles that aren’t street legal. They don’t go much faster than a bike but are very low to the ground…not to far to fall. Kids toys really but I only see adults riding them.

    • “I saw a cool tiny 2 seater car recently on the internet but I doubt they would be suitable for rough terrain.”

Unfortunately most of those “internet cars” are also not street legal, as they haven’t been tested to US crash protocols. Can’t get them licensed if they don’t meet US safety standards.

      • There’s a crok – I shoudl be able to drive a gokart to town if I need to in am emergency – ditto those diahatsu farm diesels you can buy for 1/4 the price of a “brand” rig…

        • @LOOB

That’s cheaper than a golf cart.

Golf carts are apparently the preferred means of intracity transportation for people over 50 or with kids, everywhere in the Midwest. EZ-Go, Club Car, even Cushman carts. They sell new for ~$5k-$12k. I used to see them used and running, all day long in the surplus market for a couple hundred bucks. Now a rusted-out Club Car electric with dead batteries and no charger may run $1400. Young yuppies and people with grandmunchkins buy them new, then pay between $6k and $25 or $30k to have them customized. They also don’t buy off-brands or Chinese junk.

You can cruise virtually any town from Youngstown to KC and Marquette to OKC, whether a population of three or three million, and between 6ish and twilight, there’ll be people out cruising in the damn’ things.

    • I am looking at a cargo capable e-bike right now to extend my range on weekends. Currently, I am riding a normally aspirated bicycle about three miles every afternoon it is fit to ride, weekdays and weekends. I’ve been doing this for the past two years to get my legs and balance back to where they should be. I was doing more miles, but I decided that discretion in not overdoing it was needed.
I don’t recommend buying an electric bicycle if you haven’t ridden much in recent years. When I first switched over from jogging to cycling for regular exercise, I had a lot of balance issues, and my legs weren’t in as good of shape as I would have imagined them. Walking and riding use different muscles to a large extent.
The bike I am riding is a flat bar Cr-Mo frame touring bike, and it is geared very low. I could use it to haul supplies, but an electric with a one-wheel trailer would be a lot more useful.
Your friend’s leg problem sounds like someone who was out of practice, or had never ridden a powered bike of any kind. You use the brakes to stop all forward motion, and then only put the foot down when you start to tip. Trying to brake with your feet on a powered vehicle is a ticket to the nearest emergency room.

At some point cross coupling kicks in and stampede ensues

    C) 1) First west coast stops

  16. I recently sent a USPS one rate envelope from St. Louis to Austin, TX …… it went to LA, California first …… took 8 days to get to Austin … amazing

the Trump market (tariff) game is just that …….. whipsaw a ton of people, as insiders make the big bucks …….. how the casino works, Trump knows this game ……. as does his hedge fund buddy Bessent …..

    good luck …………. be safe

  17. HOME INSURANCE: “Screw ’em. We will go with liability only because the home is the cost-driver. Something about “in a forest fire prone area.”
LOL! Welcome to my world… “in a lava-prone area”. No homeowners insurance available at all. Yep, I have liability insurance… and fire extinguishers!

  18. Coppell isn’t the only USPS ‘Merry Go Round”. I had a package go ’round & ‘Round in Georgia last month. Five days circling the same facility. Just be glad you don’t live across an ocean like I do. There’s a black hole just offshore San Fran where even tracking disappears for a month… and then quantum materializes suddenly at my local office where it is surprisingly ‘Out for Delivery’.

  19. Who would have ever thought George would sign up to be a tick tock influencer. “Time keeps on slippin sliippin slippin into ~> The Future!”

Speaking of the “Westminster” chime melody followed by striking the hour 10 times, I too was suprised that Chinese proxy war with India over manufacturing got put out before it got out. of. control. A 10% tariff is currently in place on imports from India verses a 145% on the fine china, which is from… uhhh China.

I doubt it will be back…… As children of Lao Tzu attempt to go to war with The Vedas in the year of the Dragon over gift shop items like snow globes and matchbox cars. However the latest Rumor down Pet Smart is, China is about to have a fire sale. Happy endings for everyone!

To Mr. Stewart, I don’t know about Nostradamus stuff. but I know you…. do. I know you are doing exactly what you are supposed to do. how could you fuck it up? only you can be you.

my take on it is this,

It was the Roman Empire that took control of Israel indirectly at first. Allowing Israels Ruling Aristocrats, to be kept around as high profile “Fat Cat” clients. Useful in controlling the mob.
Shortly thereafter The Roman Empire took full control (because of Greed) and in doing so, unknowingly produced —–> Jesus, The Christ.

Whose Gospel, set the whole wide world ablaze!

and here we all are now……………

well sort of….. some here but not all there. Right BCN?

for some reason I always thought it was olivia newtron bomb that sang Take a Chance on me. but it wasn’t. it was abba.
huh. wonder if that is one of them mandela affects. who knows.

    advance. to. go. collect $200.

      (Local T-shirt from the Jungle)

  20. The market closed up above it’s March high., very strong., no fade at the close.

Gonna be an interesting week – with Germany threatening Putin.

  21. For what it’s worth financial astrologer Christeen Skinner in her latest “Full Moon Letter” is calling for a stock market top on Friday May 19 then down from there.

    • That Timing would match up to World Events … which are imo going to be the trigger for the next leg down, not market and financial internals.

Pick your date for Israel to go after Iran (withOUT the US joining in, which means NUCLEAR) … go backwards a few days for those insiders who get the news leakage early and are setting their bets … and you have the topping date.

Some of those in the strange world of “Visionaries” have over the last few months said the “Event” will occur late May – early June, to the best of my POOR recollection one even gave a date of May 26 at one point in time though they later backed off on that.

I guess we wait and see.

  22. I concur on the phone craziness. It has followed the usual path for technology, from novelty to convenience to necessity, except the need has been largely manufactured.

For 10+ years I entered my branch of the Y by typing my phone number on a keypad, getting a nod from someone behind the counter and walking in. Eventually they added a blinking thing so those who downloaded their app could hold their phone up to it instead of typing. One day I walked in to find no keypad and two blinking things. I was informed I needed to download the app to my phone and everything would be fine. When I explained that my phone was at home, wired to the wall and incapable of downloading anything, I had to recite my number out loud for all the strangers in the room to hear.

After a few episodes of this I wrote the main office downtown to let them know that when someone issues me an ultimatum, I generally find it necessary to show them I actually have other options. I’m retired, not wealthy, and have had more pressing things to spend my money on. Apparently I wasn’t the only one who spoke up, because the next week the keypad was back. I don’t expect it to last, though. It looks like I’ll be adding a smart phone to the budget. It won’t be on all the time, though, and I won’t be downloading many apps, either.

  26. One more evil thing about the current instances of smartphones are the apps that reads QR codes. Some might be bundled with the device. For the rest of us, there are downloads. Many companies and universities are requiring connecting through these dumb things rather than a URL. The problem is that if you don’t get to preview the URL before going to the web location, you’ve no idea what you might be getting into, and you can’t use a secure computer instead of a cellphone. Some of the apps also use/take other permissions which may allow tracking and geolocating. If you download from the Apple or Google playstore, you have to log in to an account, and that provides even more tracking ability to those entities. When I must use an app, I sideload it(trusting yet another entity), but I don’t need to log into Google. These devices are obviously built for track, spy, and trace! What other device is so thin it can’t be self-supporting on its side, and has cameras on both front and back, with no hardware “off” switch. Thank God for vinyl electrical tape(or even better – gaffer’s tape)!
