Magic Monday, Manic Markets, Ham Radio Notes

“OK, what’s so “magical” about Monday.  Did you miss the they suck memo?”

Heavens no.  But over the weekend, if you were paying attention, the fairy dust of modern media fell on Switzerland.  How so? Swiss Voters Back Higher Pensions, Reject Working Longer.

See how it works?  As the world becomes addicted to Free Lunch (inflationomics) the belief in numerical sciences gets tossed.  And in its place come the “something for nothing” moves.

Of course, the exposes were around about “lump sum payments” to help the poor. Over here, you can read how that worked out: DC mom given $10,800 taxpayer-funded lump sum as part of scheme to help poor families spends $6,000 on luxury trip to MIAMI and 15 vacation outfits for her three kids.

Thus, our eyes wide open beginning this Monday is to consider the data, try to understand what’s going on, and then come up with a coping strategy.

Not that we have to: Most of us will be “taken care of by the govt.” You know, the “clot shot” people. They will eventually tax (and maybe confiscate) for their own consumption on the premise that they are more worthy than “the little people” to make decisions on how to best deploy assets.

The good news is? The little people (cue Darby O’Gill) don’t hang out in rural East Texas. But we understand there are people coops full of ’em in most major Big Cities.

Oh, Darby reminds me to pick up some Bushmills because St. Patrick’s Day is only 13-days ahead.  This is one of those delicate supply chain issues.  If the Bushmills gets home too early, there may not be any left in two weeks.  OK, hold that item for a week and reschedule. O’Ponder.

Speaking of Magic

The banshee dreams are back in politics. With stories from a couple of years back (like Michelle Obama: Democrats’ 2024 ‘break glass in case of emergency’ candidate | The Hill from 2022) we wonder what the Despercrats will have to pull out of the hat to beat back the pom-pom candidate.

You know dems have “trouble in their house” when in core “victims to bureaucrats” country Washington, D.C., Republican primary delivers Haley her first win ahead of Super Tuesday.

Our Weekly Line – Betting the Future

With the beginning of Ramadan (this coming Sunday/Monday) be looking to G.A. Stewart’s Nostradamus works for any additions.  This could be a high-risk period because there’s a possible ceasefire ahead.  And breaking ceasefires is a long-running tactic in warfare.  The Biden admin has been hyping the hell out of prospects for a stand-down, but nothing as of press time.  Well, except Kamala Harris calls for immediate ceasefire in Gaza: ‘Conditions are inhumane’ which is fashionably late to the party.  For now, it looks like her posturing will work as well as her southern border efforts have. As Israel opts out of Cairo talks on Gaza ceasefire, hostage release. On closer inspection, it’s now being spoken of only as a framework (U.S. official says Israel accepted framework deal for six-week truce in Gaza – Doha News) which supposedly makes it a smaller failure of PR and hype. Leaving us standing around the coffee room considering obviousness as the drink of the day. UN Rights Chief: Gaza ‘Powder Keg’ Could Spark Wider War. Do you suppose he needed help working that out?

New car and truck sales figures are dribbling out today. One figure to keep in mind is how EVs fare.  Framing this are reports like 1 in 5 new car sales globally were EVs in 2023, and that’s curbed oil demand. We are huge fans of EVs for people who live in cities, next to nuclear power plants, and don’t go further than the bathroom.  Those of us living in a state where it takes 12-13 hours to drive from East to West (Orange TX to El Paso) don’t have either the grid or the 12-hours additional for recharging, thanks. Like religions and weight loss schemes, though, climateering is a belief set and there’s a lot of preachy to it. That’s how the world’s major religions (Money, Tech, Climate, Tribalism, plus traditional God-centered (or not)) roll.

Similarly, tomorrow promises a continuation of the weekend so there is not much “action” in financial news until Wednesday.  That’s when ADP employment numbers start this “jobs week.”  If we see weakness in the markets at the open, but some rally tomorrow, the strategic traders (like me) will begin thinking “Jobs reports could be a “buy the rumor, sell the news.”  Which would feed into the larger context; namely that with strong jobs and a national debt fast-approaching $35-trillion. the back of inflation is not broken so not only could Fed rate reductions be off the table this month (Fed meeting next week) but until much later meetings.

Further indications will be inferred from the Beige Book due out Wednesday afternoon.  This is the document where the 12 Fed regions give their assessments, although there are summaries issued locally during the month, as well.

Graphical Wagering

Our inclination is to expect a modest decline today, and then a rally perhaps into the Tuesday close. which was all set up by our Elliott and trend channel chart on the Peoplenomics subscriber site this weekend. the “kids’ home version” is:

If you look at the faintest green trading box (upper right) there is an itsy-bitsy tiniest of bits further this puppy could run.  But it’s on its way to the pound to be euthanized.  It’s only a matter of when the dogcatcher shows up.  We’re thinking G.A. Stewart’s turn window is likely as good as any.  In fact, I can almost see the chart in my head: lower today, run up tomorrow of ginned up fake news, then down on Jobs with a snapback rally to the Friday close.  Then we’ll assess things.

Creepy Crawlers

Gold Star reporting award to Reader Ray for snagging this headline:  Mitch McConnell’s sister-in-law’s death being treated as ‘criminal investigation. Reading the story, this involves a death on a ranch here in Texas on Feb. 11 and Mitch McConnell’s decision not to run when?  Last Wednesday. Feb 28th.  What we’re looking for are further indications of how all this is tied together.  As an “aging reporter” it’s an interesting ponder.  If there is a criminal angle to it, and the sister-in-law’s death was foul play, was it somehow related to the Senator? As in “messaging to him”?  But there’s actually a lot more to it.  Like the video last summer (on YouTube) where McConnel was seen going into freeze mode in this video when asked about his reelection plans. I seem to remember at the time there was speculation about his health, but I also thought I caught the look and behavior of someone holding grave knowledge.  So, we will all be tracking this with great interest. DC politics is ruled, metaphorically by “made men.”  And those are circles where small gaffes can lead to huge consequences.  Not that we’d expect “Hidden forces are cleaning out American corruption” (or have taken over Capitol Hill)  to be a focus on any of the network news shows. Sometimes, what’s not reported (or linked for public pondering) is more important than what is.  (Which is why we hide out in the woods and work on the time machine. Too old for the stresses of such reporting.)

Crawlering Right Along

Late last week the Russians sent drones into Odessa.  Which, advised our consigliere in advance, was likely to heat up since this will be Russia’s next logical move in the Ukraine War.  Five children among 12 killed as Russia hits Odesa apartment block. With the burials now done, we give it only a day or two before more “softening” actions on Odessa might be forthcoming.

Lingo-lango in the Pakistan election follow-up: Erdogan, Raisi felicitate Shehbaz Sharif for winning PM election. (Felicitating is congratulating, not something done at, um, lifestyle clubs…). We notice in passing that the smartest human in the world right now may be a Pakistani woman and yes, they know more about our language than we do, Ebonics and gesticulations notwithstanding. You knew this already, of course.

Are there more drugs to be found in the White House? WH press sec says Biden “has done more in his 3 years as President than most presidents [have] done in their two terms.” Um…what, for example?

Fall of America Notes:

Ah, social media – where everyone is an expert on everything.

And last we have the Smokehouse Creek fire mess. Texas panhandle still hosting the biggest wildfire in Texas state history.

Around the Ranch: Ham Radio Econ Notes

What’s going on at the intersection of Ham Radio and Economics?

Glad you asked. Several items to cover.

Deflation and Inflation Battle it out.  If you haven’t followed, there is a ham radio from China that has been out for several years called the Xiegu G90.  You can get them on Amazon for under $450.  While the radio has shortcomings (women, sailboats, and sports cars do, too no matter which one you pick), they represent a serious challenge to the Rice Box Trio.  Namely, Kenwood, Icom, and Yaesu.

To be sure, each of these has a “Super Radio” offering in the $8,000 (and up to nearly 3X that). But Xiegu is likely – in our view – to become part of China’s “turn on the factories” to help stimulate their economy.  In the process, we see deflation coming to the solid-state HF radio world.

Curiously, prices on eBay seem, at least for now, to be holding fairly steady to drifting up maybe 10 percent a year for collectible-grade tube-type radios.

The Xiegu will no way be picked over like an Icom 7300 when comes to power (Icom is 100 watts) or features: Xiegu is tiny while you can actually see the 7300 frequency sweep waterfall easily in comparison.

But it’s something to consider: Some real “bandspread” if I can use the analogy – is developing in ham radio feature set to price comparisons. Which to us is pretty damn interesting.

Second ham radio point is that on the 3806 Sunday morning roundtable, one of the pleasant side effects of Crypto mining is falling over into ham ranks.  This as a boatload of high-performance 12-volt power supplies that are coming on the market from miners. In particular, the HP DPS1200SB series which have been flying around eBay.

They are not instantly suited for ham radio use.  Because most radios perform their best with a DC input voltage of 13.8-volts.  The 12-volt rail on these tends to hit 12.5-ish and that’s it.  Enter the mods videos:

Did I immediately buy one?  Hell yeah, but it was $39 with shipping.  Thing is, though, a good 50-amp power supply (new, Amazon) like this one with dual meters and such, can run upwards of $160.  Since voltage setting is (or should be) mostly a “set and forget” we can see deflation in the cost of power supplies possibly being in the pipeline, as well.

And if that’s not enough “spillover” from our Ultra-Make.com site, I spent a fair amount of time this weekend pondering what kind of ham antenna to eventually stick up in the 100-ft pine tree in the front yard that could be fed from our “180-room” where we watch wildlife and wine glasses.

Being eyeing the FAA5522 design which seems to have been overlooked by a lot of hams. Sort of like a low-band version of the 2-meter half bazooka coax antenna.  Which is described in 2 Meter Vertical Bazooka – Build A Vertical Bazooka from Coaxial Cable by VE3VDC (hamuniverse.com).

Health Notes: Later this week, Elaine will be going to our PCP for follow-up to the ambulance ride for the BP spike last week.  At the 2:30 AM check, she was 151/87 which was a lot higher than my 114/63.  Which is mentioned because we eat the same food for all meals but breakfast.  I tend toward a half-dozen Chinese potstickers, while she eats a bowl of cereal, orange juice, toast, milk, and one egg with cheese and some kind of meat.

For the longest time (years back) neither of us ate breakfast at all, but when you’re older, eating three times a day keeps the energy and blood sugar levels more even and the first meal of the day, almost regardless of size, tends to burn off and not “stick to the middle.”  Which is why meat and veggies for dinner with low-to-no carbs works.

Remember, this is not medical advice, and we are 75 and 80, so YMWV. But worth mentioning since we all eat, have tickers, and the clock is always running.

Speaking of which…

  1. FWIW travel times Orange->El Paso ; Texarkana -> El Paso ; Dalhart-> Brownsville are all about the same. Some minor variations. Also subject to traffic jams at intermediate cities.

  2. Weather has been so nice I’m going to side dress my garlic rows with triple 15. And scatter some leaf lettuce and radish seed. I’m just south of Detroit (in Ontario) and their weather forecast for 70, record is 69. Winds from the south off Lake Erie.

    • please elaborate on what side dressing and triple 15 (15-15-15 fertilizer?) mean…

i have lots of garlic sprouting

      • I lightly spread triple 15 fertilizer (15 15 15) along both sides of rows, then use my wheel hoe to break the soil along the rows and rake to finish. Used about 25 lbs on my 85 foot long 9 rows. My garlic planted in Fall are up around 2 to 3 inches. Supposed to lightly rain later today.
Top dressing is when you broadcast over entire garden or lawn.

        • thank you for that. I have never been able to grow decent garlic.. they come out about the same as they went in..I know it’s something I’m doing just not sure what. the same with onions..

  3. Yo G,

How about dem “biblical” four angels ? Ya know the ones supposedly loosed on the ME recently..Weeeeell seems Bens’ favorite and choice as National Symbol/burd is “going in”.
Depending on one’s point of view this is either good or bad.
How about 200 million man army ? Only one country has that many pieces of canon fodder, red though they may be.

All said to be centering around a location called armageddon(Greek) mount Megiddo area perhaps..one wonders what’s so important in desolate stretch of desert/mountains ..rafat david airbase comes to mind right up there near border wit Syria..very important israHELLi terrorist airbase.
Ya don’t think any camel jockies would be targeting the source of terror in the region ??
Nah, that would be silly, why you would need hypersonics to break thru air defenses…Ruskies and Chicoms got that hyperhardware, is it rumor or truth that the Iranians have hypersonics ?
Is the Bible and Revelations for real or just some mumbo jumbo spewed out of some brain addled hermit ? Same goes for Stewbert and his Nosty terpitations..real or memorex? Not implying Stew be brain addled, think he has a very solid grip on his “scheisse”.

WTF over ? where’s the all White RAGE from middle Americans I keep hearing despicablecrats shrilly screaming about. I didnt realize youse tRumpers’ were gangbanging domestic terrorists. They even let Ure kind travel thru US Airports ? I would think homeland nazi security would be mowing all you White Rural types down, like the violent Muslims in Gaza..

          Loob,
This is not investment advice but the brand owner of Pop Tarts has reached out to singing starlet Taylor Swift. Her homemade pop tarts apparently scored big when served to members of the Chiefs. Chicago would like the recipe.

        • (“starlet Taylor Swift. Her homemade pop tarts apparently scored big when served to members “)

          I get that ..lol

    • “How about 200 million man army ?”

I wonder about that too because at the height of the Ukie/Russian battles the Russian army was grinding Ukies up in less than four hours. The line wasn’t single file, groups of soldiers were wiped out.

“The average life expectancy of a front-line soldier in eastern Ukraine is around 4 hours, an American fighting in ‘the meat grinder’ says.”

      Soldiers in war are obsolete.

Keeping an open mind there could be some kind of event that disables the world’s missiles/flying machines making solders important again and the Chinese army does march over to the Middle East. The event would have to be supernatural. Who knows?

    • Dear CONfuzzled
By your signature writing style, I am also guessing that one of your nom de plumes is also the Bitcoin Nazi. If I am wrong, please let me know.

You have an interesting style of communicating. It sort of has a scat quality to it. And as a musician, I appreciate the verbal riffs, but scat gets its name for a reason.

The one thing that I have noticed is your perspective… as if you sit on a higher tower of knowledge and perspective than the rest of us meat puppets.

“Is the Bible and Revelations for real or just some mumbo jumbo spewed out of some brain addled hermit ? Same goes for Stewbert and his Nosty terpitations..real or memorex? Not implying Stew be brain addled, think he has a very solid grip on his “scheisse.”

Frankly, where do you get off making that call? Are you some PhD expert that we should all be verbally humbled by? Maybe you are from another planet?

I’m pushing 70; I’ve got almost 50-years into trying to understand the “scheisse.” I’ve been in the “scheisse” since I was 18, and my guess is that you don’t even come close.

The “scheisse” is real easy to understand. Quote me, “Nobody gets out alive.”

Paint your picture in this life.

There’s a great line in the movie, “The Last Samurai.” “Life in every breath… That is Bushido.”

Go ahead and conflate that in your scat, satirical prose. That is Bushido!

“Stewbert and his Nosty terpitations” is not my final painting; it’s just another step on my path to understanding.

I get the sense that you think you know it all. We all think we do, but I’m still trying to figure it out.

I just contribute as another explorer.

      • Yeah, the schiesse writer’s a weight on me, as well.

I think this is why Urban (and great contributors to the discourse here) are so interesting and useful. As Peoplenomics readers know, I have been working on a new book outline – driven by Elaine’s medical emergency.
In it (DeathProofing is the working title) I look at people in life as self-sorting.
There are know it alls, either actual or masquerading warriors (such as the BCN)
At the other end are the total victims (we have a few trolls in this category)
And a couple of levels of partisans (right and left) in between.
But the thing that serious life-channel people (like Stu and me) are after is sneaking up on Ground truth.

In some way’s it’s like stealing a view of a Sasquatch. You might know it’s some form of Ground Truth, but by the time everyone gets yanked around by money, social, and spin, ground truth gets totally fucked up. Most often, unrecognizable.

Clif High and I shared many insights back and forth over the years. And though his time work went one way, mine going two others (like an Elliott wave, I keep subdividing…and the lab work here) he too is in my considered view also an honest quester after Ground Truth. So’s Marty Armstrong. Manfred Zimmel and so on.

That focus (GT) also evident in Andy’s posts, and LOOB, and BIC. We’re not trying to make converts or conversions, run an erudition platform, or monetize pomp and ego. Facebook and social is where that genre lives.

This is more like Hunting around here. We still the soul, as time permits, sit in the “information blind” all day, and occasionally one of our members will catch a rustle in the brush, get a call from Elon, or just notice that woo-woo has taken a new form – like the carpenters who find measurements changing over a period of minutes with no proximate cause. Reality, turns out, has some “Adjustment Bureau” loose edges.

Not that the observations offered aren’t of value, but the bias and the (dare I say hate?) when comes to various religious and political beliefs can be a bit much (even offensive at times).

It makes filtering your wheat and chaff more challenging. And while both Urban and Stu’s site both seek useful and unattached Ground Truth, there is no superiority of view. That will be decided in the Afterlife. Scoring follows life. Life Reviews.

Hot lingo if fun, don’t get me (us? can’t talk for Stu) wrong. But when conveying information, the framing around the scheisse is not as important as your core observation.

A longtime pal recently (Thanksgiving) retired from .mil land and where all things are known – literally. He’s a genius. Much brass, many honors, multilingual to the max. It’s people like this gent who are really looking out for America – not the Bannons or the Bernies – I mean the front line leo and force protection folks – that’s where this site has value both from an operational standpoint as well as a linguistic watering hole.

Less emphasis on the religious sources and alliances would be nice. (most of us get that Judaism is a religion and that at the run-away level it’s (*Zionism) an international expansionist movement that has more in common perhaps with Marxist-Leninism than Main Street bipartisan choices between (in theory) well-matched candidates.

Stu’s an explorer – I’m just plain lost – but between us all, posting sightings when we see it – Ground Truth kneeling by the river to drink before walking up the side of a vertical mountain” is what this site is about.

Thanks for understanding and the useful core info contributed, however cloaked in…what is it???

I know you will read this, but will you hear it? That’s why the hunters spend as much time listening to the rustling and doing research. Life is a crooked game from the outset. But it’s also an escape room for the soul.

      • Stu I sure hope that I don’t come off as some know it all.. I wish I did.. but I know I have many flaws. I am just stubborn and definitely opinionated. if I refer come off as a know it all then I want to convey my humble apology.

        • I don’t think you’re a problem. You DO know a LOT, and you’re trying to learn it all. Then you share what you know in an effort to help others. There’s a big difference.

      • G.A.,

Take what these ham bones post with a grain of salt. Me included.

The other day I posted nobody wants inherited stuff. I had to absorb a few microaggressions and was told I don’t have heirlooms. That’s an invite to a pissing match – ‘my heirlooms are better than your heirlooms’. “Oh, yea?”

In the post I cited jackets turning to dust. A poster indicated their heirloom jacket isn’t turning to dust as the responsibility for maintenance and upkeep was delegated. That reinforced my position in that the heirloom jacket wasn’t kept but instead given away.

Leather just doesn’t last long in the dry AZ heat/FL humidity/or basements and attics of the Midwest. Empirical evidence shows in those environments leather turns to dust over the decades. Just like an unmaintained shotgun improperly stored in a basement or attack rusts then dusts. Now if everyone had access to museum quality climate controls….

Some topics are sticky. Just keep it moving.

        No offenses.

        • most of my heirlooms are tools.. old tools.. new tools.. tools to rebuild.. and to make the basics of life that give you a quality of life..the kids think I am insane.. but.. IF.. the analysts are even remotely correct.. or the predictions are even remotely correct.. all of them will be necessary.. in the past I have had to use them for our quality of life.. trade cheese for milk.. is but one.. the year we went without an income.. I didn’t have any money.. I traded cheese for the milk we used.. during covid shut down.. I traded wine for EGGS..

    • “one wonders what’s so important in desolate stretch of desert/mountains”

      Natural resources…..location..

  4. You may find that hydration will also help keep the BP down…..lots of water does a body good.

    • Lots of water does the body good, yet a front line medical approach to lowering BP is diuretics! WTF?

Winter is bad for BP, since people tend to eat more fat of all varieties and gain significant weight. We would all rather be warm and sedentary than outside freezing and trying to get stuff done.

        • Good point, though many sports drinks are overloaded with sodium, and simple sugars too.

        • Yep. And the body prefers Potassium over Sodium if it is available. I have a friend with erratic blood pressure that has to time his pills every day. He can’t live without the daily banana, which has more potassium than the FDA allows to be put into supplement pills.

        • (“. I have a friend with erratic blood pressure that has to time his pills every day.”)

oh no ..thanks Hank ..thanks for reminding me.. in a rush to get chores do dishes get breakfast made and get one of my guys out to his appointments..I forgot to take my BP meds..

        • For Hank in Hawaii: Potassium can be bought as a “bulk supplement” powder form.
Potassium Citrate, Potassium Chloride, Potassium Bi-Carbonate. Directions for dosage are supplied on the package. Do your own research (and use your own brain) and dose accordingly. Too much potassium can be deadly – But so can too much sodium – it’s deadly as well. Look up the RDA for potassium: one website claims ~”The recommended potassium intake for an average adult 19-50 years of age is 3,400 milligrams (mg) per day for men and 2,600 mg per day for women.”~

        • @NM Mike

“many sports drinks are overloaded with sodium, and simple sugars too.”

I thought the glucose carrier was the point. Original Gatorade is NaK, which is great if you’re on a parade field for nine hours straight, on a sunny day, with a 40 pound pack, but I’d read somewhere that the ‘lytes were synergistic — meaning taking them all made each work better, and not taking all would cause a deficiency in the ones not taken. Therefore, Powerade or G! were much better for a body than Gatorade or its clones.

          Am I correct?
          _______

          @Hank in Hawaii

“Yep. And the body prefers Potassium over Sodium if it is available.”

To an extent. You can overdose on potassium. The results are often less than optimal.

I was not kidding when I told Bill (and y’all) a couple years ago that I bought my Vitamin-C by the kilo. I also bought gel capsules and a capsule-stuffer and roll my own 1000mg C-caps, for when I’m on the road.

IIRC, I threw him a link and commented:

(May not be the actual links – ARE the actual products.) I notice the Vitamin-C bulk price has nearly tripled since the last time I bought it…

    • or coffee… lol which is a must have staple in our home..you would fall over if you knew how much we go through..
I personally love roasting my own bit I only do that as a special treat.. oh roasted cacao beans is awesome as well..they roast a little differently mire of a timed roast. the new air fryer ( use to be called toaster iven) has a basket just for roasting beans..

hank shared a great place in Hawaii for us to..I haven’t gotten any beans from them yet.
Ethiopian markets usually have green beans to..
Ethiopian has a real robust flavor..a little acid unlike Jamaican.
Costco gas their own plantation ( seen it in a TV show) their brand of coffee is superbly roasted and flavorful. and reasonably priced.

  5. re: St. Patrick’s Day
feat: Takin’ Care ‘o Business – BTO

    Folks,

Imbibers of Bushmills will savour the knowledge that the brand’s parent is headquartered in Jersey City (Wall Street West), NJ where English explorer Henry Hudson first surveyed the shoreline in 1609 on a ship of the Dutch Republic, Half Moon. A millennium plus years prior, an Englishman was enslaved by pirates and deposited in Ireland as a herder. After gaining freedom and clerical qualifications, Saint Patrick shepherded a new flock.

Speaking of pirates, this past weekend saw UK msm headlines of modern-day UK slavers preying particularly on Indian, Nigerian, and Zimbabwean migrants seeking work in the Kingdom.

I followed an urge to review the government website of GLAA (Gangmasters & Labour Abuse Authority). Based in Nottingham, the work of Robin Hood continues under Home Office jurisdiction. Parliamentary legislation including the 2015 Modern Slavery Act seeks to protect the little people.

The GLAA website “recent news” page appeals to gangmaster licence applicants to please not send cash or cheque through the Royal Mail. Rather use should be made of BACS (Bacs Payment Schemes Limited) previously known as Bankers’ Automated Clearing System.

The most recent annual report of 96 pages is the year ending April, 2022 uploaded in November of that year. GLAA reports achieving 4 of its 6 inhouse people and culture objectives. Only their employee turnover and employee satisfaction rates fell below target levels. Otherwise public-facing compliance strategy measures are going great guns. GLAA net expenditure for the year was £6.265 million including staff salaries. This was offset by income of £1.182 million from enforcement, licence fees, and application fees. • Bushmills is a Protestant whiskey..according the hbo “Wire”.

I of course accused a die hard Irish catholic first uncle of this this very offense when I spied the Offending bottle of whiskey in his liquor cabinet. This being a guy with portraits of famous Irish Rebels adorning the walls of his finished basement game room area.

Needless to say the guy was a real classhole and “fightright” bully, his entire life, least part I knew him for, and I never ceased to fuck with him whenever the opportunity presented itself. POS of shit even tried to shake my hand during catholic funeral mass ..as he reached across his spouse and his oldest sister on pew next him to me, NOPE !
Only reasons I attended his funeral several years ago..1 to make sure he was fucking Dead and in da box, and two, the reception was at exclusive country club on the Philly “ main-line” .

“When your uncles a dick, and you can’t stand him one lick, what’s good Irish boy to do ?

      • re: Uncle Buck, 1989
        feat: Black Sheep Royal

        O, Tpac,

The State-run BBC offers a gradely report upon the cusp of commercial competitor ITV commencing a first new series in six years of “Celebrity Big Brother”. A maternal uncle of the Princess of Wales shall be in the House.

Loosen the tie, kick off the loafers, and let’s allow the tabloids to lay out the plot. The Princess was pictured as a single lass with her family at Uncle’s first of four marriages in 1997. Regrettably the last one had him convicted in court for spousal assault in 2017. On a happier note dating to 2006, the pre-marital future Prince and Princess greatly enjoyed the delights of Uncle’s villa in the Balearic Islands nicknamed Maison de Bang Bang. Apparently there were restorative mud baths and the Prince was acting DJ.

We are to understand that Uncle is over the moon about about the Prince and Princess of Wales, but less so concerning the Prince and Princess of Sussex recently of Montecito, Ca. Much less so. “The Sun” happily reports that Uncle is “loud and won’t hold back.”

Joining the Household will be military-aged Ukrainian Mr. Nikita Kuzmin who steps out of his “Strictly Come Dancing” role held since 2021. Of course, could any program of the quality thrive without the spouse of the “Prince of Darkness” placing shadow upon the set. Indeed, Mrs. Sharon Osbourne will attend but not for the full duration due “her fee was too high”.

Alright here’s DJ George ready to roll in the studio with a Grass Roots request dedicated to Uncle Buck! Here we go –
        “Heaven Knows”.

  7. The Odessa drone strike.

The Ukie answer to the Russian drone strike on Odessa was a retaliation against St. Petersburg.

“At least six people were injured when a suspected Ukrainian drone slammed into an apartment building in St Petersburg and exploded on Saturday.

The incident came hours after a Russian strike on Odesa destroyed a tower block and killed seven people.”

    https://uk.news.yahoo.com/watch-drone-smashes-st-petersburg-133707913.html

I’m pretty sure I read attacks against St. Petersburg is supposed to be a marker. Did I get it wrong?

“We are huge fans of EVs for people who live in cities”

In 2025 TM is no longer selling the Camry ICE version and going hybrid only. I think this is a precursor to EV only.

    “next to nuclear power plants”

That’s a dilemma but a change will come.

Some people think electrifying the roads in the answer. (Don’t forget I-75 was the first completed Interstate (1977) stretching from Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to Tampa, Florida.)

Electric roads are starting but may fail.

    In the North:
“The country’s first wireless charging road that will energize electric vehicles without stopping has opened in Detroit.”
    In the South:
‘Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) will test a solution that charges consumer and electric vehicles at highway speeds through electrification of the roadway.”

Back when the Interstates were built-out the workers built gravel pits along the roadways for materials. Posters have said they’re being approached by windmill companies and solar companies. Perhaps those will provide the power for electric roads.

Westinghouse has the AP300 mini-nuke plants coming out in 2027. Ask is around $1,000,000,000.

The Westinghouse AP300™ Small Modular Reactor is the most advanced, proven and readily deployable SMR solution.

    https://www.westinghousenuclear.com/energy-systems/ap300-smr

$1,000,000,000 does sound like a lot of money but consider. The survivors victims of the Oxford, MI school shooting are suing for $2,000,000,000. Three of the folks on the ‘Boeing door plug fell out out flight’ are suing Boeing for $1,000,000,000.

On the other hand the apocalypse arrives and thoughts of EVs melt like everything else.

    • (“$1,000,000,000 does sound like a lot of money but consider.”)

for a trillion dollars…you could…hand out a 10 kw solar grid tie system to everyone..
or build 1 to 2 million 12 mw solar towers. or more depending on how much the tower cost..
no problems with waste disposal or environmental contamination from radio active materials..
which one makes more sense. but then this has nothing to do with logic or the environment at all..this has to do with the business midel.. of course they would have to do it before the dollar implodes and a trillion dollars is the cost of a happy meal at McDonald’s

        • AMEN……..
working healthcare I can tell you that is the absolute truth..
families that fight among themselves over the stupidest crap that has no importance at all.
we bought an old maltmaker from a restaurant going out if business..I think we paid 2 dollars for it.. I have made thousands of malted milks and shakes .. I over heard the girls arguing over who gets it when we die.. I will be dammed if my kids are going to fight over a maltmaker.. so I bought one for each of the kids.
families get real odd when medical has taken the vast majority of Ines wealth..and they fight and argue. if the parent has run out of money then the kids are like the animals in momma chicken planting wheat..healthcare is so expensive it would bankrupt all of them.
when my mothers savings started to dwindle the medical facility was constantly trying to get me to sign papers ..yeah right you betcha I will leap right on that so you can take me down to..knew a guy that list his house doing that signed his daughter into a hospital..

      • Or just not spend it, but there’s nothing we can do. We’re in a monetary system that was started before we arrived. The only out is total destruction.

        • Or just not spend it.. LOL LOL LOL
In the end.. the medical system gets it.. when my father passed on.. every doctor in the wastelands associated with the hospital.. sent a consultation bill of fifty bucks.. yup.. now why does a podiatrist a proctoologist and a gynecologist need to give an opinion of someone dying.. there were a lot of bills.. the final expenses are astronomical.. the more you have the longer they will keep you paying..
I had one woman.. had the biggest ugliest rings I have ever seen it was huge and horrible looking but it was what her husband had given her…. she called me in and handed it to me.. and said.. honey my family is coming.. would you have them put this in the safe.. LOL it was real not out of a gumball machine..

        • My last guy had a quarter section of land.. he raised Thoroughbred horses.. knew every race horse at the kentucky derby.. he had a vacation home.. and an antique business.. they took it all for the care of his wife that had cancer..
the hospital first fired her.. she was a nurse.. so they could get a hold of what she had..
a friends father in law.. needed a heart surgery.. they fought like hell to get them to do it.. the doctor and hospital finally agreed.. their comment .. I always wanted to own a farm.. its the business model.. your home is their home.. your stuff their stuff.. if you don’t have any stuff.. then you get the healthcare but it is usually an extended wait time.. there isn’t any rush on any of it..

    • “Some people think electrifying the roads in the answer. (Don’t forget I-75 was the first completed Interstate (1977) stretching from Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to Tampa, Florida.)

Electric roads are starting but may fail.”

Electric roads WILL fail. For them to work, their output would have to be measured in gigawatts per mile. There is not enough potential energy on the planet, even if one lined every highway with continuous nuclear power plants. “Transmitted” electricity is subject to the same “inverse square rule” as any other radiation. Interstate road surfaces are, at an absolute minimum, 13″ thick. For any kind of permanence, the transmission wiring would have to be at or below the roadbed, or embedded in its surface (like railroad or interurban rails.) What happens when the road thaws, and cracks? How do you repair it, without tearing out and replacing the entire roadway from the bed, up? [If it is embedded], what happens when a wet branch falls across the rails and starts a fire that burns down half the State?

People who spew this crap are often very bright and their brains operate in a theoretical realm, but they have minimal exposure and experience with the real, physical world. Of course, one can build a piece of road that transmits electricity to a moving EV. They may even be able to transmit an amount which will extend the driving range of an EV by a few miles. They will not be able to do so in a physically or financially efficient manner, and what they create will be both physically and financially impossible to maintain.

BTW, I could sue you for a billion dollars, or you could sue me for a billion dollars, for any reason whatsoever (or frankly, none, at all). That doesn’t mean a court would award a billion dollars, or even a single buck. It just means a shyster is willing to take someone’s money at a rate of several hundred dollars per hour (plus expenses), and a litigant is willing to roll the dice and bet they can squeeze more cash out of somebody than their lawyer sucks from them.

  8. (“national debt fast-approaching $35-trillion”)

what very few have noticed is the deficit is increasing 1 trillion dollars every three months. the interest has now taken over..
my guess is that’s why the big push for world war 3 to reestablish the dollar as the currency to depend on.
since they all seem to be missing the elephant in the room.. they have been out maneuvering the usa and nato countries using their very own greed against them..jmho

    • As a principal combatant, WW-III would do nothing for the dollar.

The USD became the world’s “reserve currency” because we stayed out of world wars until the combatants depleted each others’ men and materiel, and exhausted their finances and the Rothschild’s reserves. How many tens of trillions (in 2024 dollars) do you suppose we netted from “lend lease” alone, during and after WW-II? We didn’t acquire territory or build an empire. We essentially owned none of that stuff (either the war materiel or the materials used to rebuild afterwards). However, by investing a minimal amount of American labor overseas, we got a kickback from every sack of wheat and pound of Portland cement the Brits, French, Germans, hell, even the Soviets (until they got shitty), used to rebuild.

If there’s a WW-III, it will be fought by nerds with satellites, lasers, robots, and nukes. When someone fires-off a nuke, in anger, in Eurasia, the Middle East, or South Asia, we will have less than two days to exist, before Russia, China, NK, Pakistan, and Iran carpet-nuke CONUS (and they will have less than two days until we, the Brits, French, Israelis, Indians, and Japanese, carpet-nuke all of them out of existence.)

Patagonia sure looks good, this time of year…

Alas, sitting on all that inlfow for two days and waiting until Sunday to pump a nice futures gap on BTC over the weekend.

This $64K futures gap is a nice target for an out of schedule [ post halving] 50% pull back from $128K to $64 K. Cramer and all the talk-tracks on Cee aNd Be Ceen will outcry the ending of an historic run and now its time to trace back to <$10K BTC.

This will be the last time to enter a position on BTC before the run at $1M. Noting that these things take months/years to play out, be a collector and HODL.

Heck with the massive amount of assets all being hypothecated on blockchain, that engeineered futures gap may not get filled at all, or , if'n it does, the wick down will be measured in hours/mimnutes. The later fits Cliff's BTC impossbile call from back in 2018. Its great to be early.

  11. hhhmmmm.., A cargo ship that left Singapore last week, heading for the Panama Canal, was found adrift in the Indian Ocean. Panama registry, British conclomorant owned, leased and operated by a Malaysian corporation, all Chinese crew.
No crew and no cargo. No signs of violence. All life boats still aboard. All navigation and communication equipment operating normally.
India has placed a crew on-board and it is now heading for port in eastern India.

    • Yeah, yeah…cargo was Bitcoins..you know those worthless, made up numbers, no wonders they can’t find cargo, let alone crew.

Must have gone off chain into cold storage.. ; )

    • wow… I have seen container ships before. how would they take everything off of it without someone somewhere noticing

      • “Cargo”.., not “container” – Still., transferring cargo and crew off a ship in the Indian Ocean is not for the faint-of-heart.

        • Diego Garcia is place you ought be, if you want to find missing planes like the Malaysian airliner.. back part of base is way way off limits.. said to be cia/mossad .. lots of missing and repainted aluminum tubes out there..somewhere over the rainbow…

    have nothing.

    • hmm.. you mean bring back industry to the usa…what about the business model….
that was what Make America Great Again was about..they’ve been spending billions trying to stop from happening…

  13. re: morning foods:

“cereal, orange juice” – may want to consider how many grams of sugar are in this combination and the resultant spiking (ref to your weekend posting & research paths). Good thing… bad thing?

Not offering `Holiday Inn Express Medical Advice` but moving away from carbs to more fat might be a consideration. The body will generate carbs just fine from fat and the fat gives you more satiety.

    Just a thought…

    • there was a gent that just said…
… LET THEM EAT CEREAL … lol..
      ….well not exactly like that..

    • Orange Juice is LOADED with sugar in a way that spikes the sugar in your body.

I cut that shit out of my diet 3+ decades ago for that very reason at the same time I was eliminating all extra sugar that I could from every source.

One has to be really careful about fruits and the amount of sugar they add to your body. Some fruits are worse that others. Do your own research.

  14. Spring is here, regardless of the calendar and the winds are too. Time to get the tractor and a trailer out to clean up the trimmed brush and limbs. If one is to believe the “conspiracy nuts”, high wind weather is ideal for airborne lasers to start massive fires like Maui and Northwest Texas. I really don’t want to paint my nearly new metal roof blue, but it might be a good idea.

  15. For those imbibing on St. Patrick’s Day, I recommend Red Breast…the whiskey you degenerates! It’s literally the best whiskey I have ever drank and I’ve drank a lot.

Unrelated note: Friday night, I had a pretty intense dream about a tsunami in the South Pacific. We’re getting close to the end of the timeframe for ‘predictive dreams’ (usually around 5 days), but I thought I’d write it down for posterity, just in case.

    • This is the one I used to buy –
REDBREAST 15 YEAR OLD IRISH WHISKEY
      $149.99 [ was around $60.]
Never bought this one – always wanted to try it –
Redbreast 21 Year Old Irish Whiskey
      $579.99

      • I’m sure it’s fantastic, but I don’t know that my pallet can tell the difference between $150 whiskey and $600 whiskey well enough to drop the cash…BUT, if you’re buying I’m willing to give it a go! lol

    • Picked up a bottle of Redbreast 15 on your post. $75 and dusty as hell. I’m guessing several iterations of “sales clerk” missed it, back in the dark spaces at the back of the bottom shelf, when they moved freely about the liquor store with their pricing guns. Not gonna complain. I don’t do Irish, Scotch, or Bourbon, in general:

“Now I know that the Yankee whisky
      Has taken away my mind,
And I know that rum is the only drink
      Suitable for mankind…”

But every once in a while I like a shot of Rye or a taste of the Bog.

I just hope I can use it to convince my kids that Jameson really is piss-water…

    • Aaa YES! Red Breast 12 year old was recommended to me by Billie the Barkeep many years ago while visiting the Ol’ Sod. Very good stuff!

  17. Read this yesterday …

“…this is no way to win a war against Russia, but to do everything possible to provoke a world war. Sometimes / wonder whether there are actually people who are deliberately pursuing this goal.”

I was going to share that article today because of those words but, (those words) disappeared from the article. Fortunately, I had copy and pasted the paragraph as a note.

I’ve been saying, “somebody wants all this to happen.” Nice to see someone is/was In agreement with me on that.

Don’t know if it be who ever runs the government(s) or who runs all the corporations or, who may possibly run both.

Shit’s been going down and NO ONE steps up to save anything. What or who, is holding them back?

Even watch Netanyahu destroy a people, in front of cameras and the world and, no one rushes in to defend the people. – on the other hand, when people gather against political oppression the SWAT team is immediately waiting in the streets for you.

It’s a very sad world when there are no Heroes. Only Villains.

    • think about that Bob. our interest on the deficit is increasing the debt 1 trillion every three months.. we are throwing hundreds of billions if dollars at wars ..our military is out on 8 fronts. we are letting in and harboring millions of illegal aliens from countries that swore to take revenge on the usa…
      hmm ..
there are how many countries that tbey have been signing agreements with now..how many have joined the brics..
      fiat currencies in jeopardy..
they have spent billions to destroy trump.. the three monkeys all appearing to be complicit with the corruptive business activities of the brand.
doing everything to get putin to jump borders..
who knows ..maybe maybe not. at this point prices are running away.. at the accelerated speed of the deficit and the lack of industry we are in a pickle of a mess.. War has traditionally been the one thing to revitalize economic problems.

    • “…this is no way to win a war against Russia, but to do everything possible to provoke a world war. Sometimes / wonder whether there are actually people who are deliberately pursuing this goal.”

      There are.

I’ve been trying to figure out the motive and motivation for this for a number of years. I have identified players, like George Soros and Victoria Nuland, but they’re knights or bishops, and I honestly don’t believe Vichy is a member of the club. IMO she’s just a really powerful person who’s really filled with hate and bloodlust.

I hate to get religious, but outside The Revelation, I’ve not been able to pick either players or motives that fit the known facts, so…

Do with that what you will…

    • “It’s now up to the voters to decide who will be the next president:“

      That’s funny. Lol !!

Been a long time since voters had much say.

      • Until the US shuts down the bi-gang monopoly at the ballot box, voters will have limited choices. A lot of bad things happened to Americans during both the Trump and Biden administrations. I don’t trust the bi-gang looters, but voters will be choosing national candidates from the admittedly limited choices, and not being dictated to by local yokel judiciary like the CO high court.

        • This is why Trump is a “Republican.” It is why Rand Paul (and Ron Paul, before him) were “Republicans.” In actuality, Trump is a “Constitutionalist” and the Pauls are “Libertarians.”

Unfortunately, in today’s world, a body has to have really deep pockets to run for Senator or President, and a net worth of $10bln is likely not deep enough, so they have to depend on a corporate affiliation to finance their campaign, and the only two corporations in town are the DNC, Inc., and the RNC, Inc.

Choose one, or sit on the sidelines…

    • they spent billions before he got into office … spent billions while he was in office..you still can’t turn on the television without a few dozen anti Trump posts..
they have made up used the justice system to destroy the man turn him into a beggar.. twisted the constitution ignored the constitution and twisted the laws in their attempts..threatened to destroy his kids with fines while ignoring the obvious of the others that did everything to flip off the people and demonstrated the dual standards..with all of that in consideration

Garden note from an Orchid Whisperer.. magic formula for growing orchids, more blooms and healthier plants.
Chop half an onion, rough chop and toss in pot to boil..like in half a cup of water. In another container put 5-6 tablespoons of Raw, uncooked rice, stirring occasionally.
Drain the onions after boiling a couple minutes, preserve the liquid. Add onion water to rice water, after draining the rice out out da water.
Now you have “magic orchid juice”. Apply liberally to top and bottom of leaves and stems, hell you can pour this over plants as well. If old tired out orchid, dip the whole thing in this magic orchid juice, and replant em in amongst thick ass wood chips.
Tip -soak small piece of cotton ball in MOJ and place between leaves at junction of stem overnight -will promote new flower stem growth within 10 days.
Works Great on the Madagascar Nila bean orchids -Yoza!
Big “woody” orchids seem to need a little more, but response to treatment was very evident within 2days time.
Some kinda enzyme action from onion water methinks, starch from rice water acts like glue..

Cheers Orchid Peeps ! You know who are, dem dat appreciate natural beauty, and I am talking artistic BEAUTY.. likeaervectly formed Peach.

Another one uses starchy ‘rinse water’ from rice as a base to collect lactobacillus from the air and then culture it with milk to curdle the milk. The liquid ‘lacto’ is sprayed on the plants also. Onions have powerful sulfa compounds that kill off nasty stuff, also. Thanks for that! Will give it a try. My cuttings are planted, and I’m told not to expect any sprouting until May or June. Plenty of rain lately is keeping them well moist, but I have the spray bottle handy for dry days. Haven’t needed it yet. Welcome to the wet jungle!

    • They are planning an alt. future where she replaces someone, surely you see how Future works and is manipulated by now? She’s in as a bait and switch if/when an even more evil plan is greenlighted.

        • She knows.

She is being maneuvered, not manipulated.

Haley is a politician like Bill Clinton, in that she sees which way the crowd is moving, then runs to the front of the pack and pretends she was there all along. She changes opinions, and directions, frequently.

If Trump were incapacitated or passed away, the Caucus would name DeSantis, Rammy, Tim Scott, or Greg Abbott to head the ticket. Haley would be universally shunned.

I’m guessing she’s trading her political future for a 10-figure retirement fund.

      • Well that was about as carefully worded as you can get. And yes, I understand how that works. That’s what scares me… the implications are pure evil.

    • “Why are ‘they’ still running Nikki Haley?”

Because (that ubiquitous “they”) run multiple games, all the time, in every arena in which either policy or public opinion can be made. Koch pulled his backing, so her buckage is coming primarily from the Lincoln Project (and its associated neocons), Soros’ Open Society (via a couple shell companies) and the DNC’s black money slush fund (much of which is U.S. taxpayer money, laundered through Ukraine. THIS is why the war in Ukraine is so important to the political Establishment of both parties.)

The above America-haters will sponsor at least two political parties’ Presidential candidates. IMO “darling Nikki” is in their right hand but I don’t know (and can’t guess) who is in their left. I can think of no Republican who’d make an attractive candidate, who isn’t in Trump’s camp. I’ve heard Romney/Manchin mentioned, but that’s a ticket that’d get 10s of votes, probably none from the Repubs.

Haley has absolutely zero chance of ever becoming a viable National candidate as a Republican. She has permanently torpedoed herself. If her handlers believed she would poll enough support that she could force herself onto the ticket as VP, or (at least) have a say in the Party plank, they were mistaken in this, as well. She has proven herself a RINO and that she’s for sale. Stick a fork in her…

Tucker brought up the “assassination thing” in his Trump interview. DJT smiled and said nothing. I suspect his planning and protection are much more extensive than meets the eye…

      • It’s the upcoming attempted assination of independent candidate -youse know the one without SS protection..

        Quack,quack

        Quakers .

        • I would not be surprised if Mr. Musk, or even Mr. Trump in a gesture of good will, have surreptitiously provided this candidate and his entourage with a security detail. DJT is planning on hiring this individual, once he’s back in the White House. I don’t believe he’d want to see any of his plans, er, die…

Be careful, Daffy. It’s coming up to duck season — duck and cover, that is…

  20. “Of course, the exposes were around about “lump sum payments” to help the poor. Over here, you can read how that worked out”

From a study done some years back, regarding lottery winners: When someone drops a pile of cash in the typical Joe Sixpack’s lap, it is usually gone in 10 months. Unfortunately, Joe doesn’t curtail his rate of spending for 12-13 months, and finds himself in bankruptcy court within about 17 months of collecting the check.

    “Po’ folks got po’ ways…”

  21. “You know dems have “trouble in their house” when in core “victims to bureaucrats” country Washington, D.C., Republican primary delivers Haley her first win ahead of Super Tuesday.”

    Nikki Haley 1,274 votes 62.8%
    Donald Trump 676 votes 33.3%

Washington D.C. had 536,768 registered voters on November 3, 2021, 95.2% (or about 510,000) of whom are registered as Democrats. Every newspaper in the Western world is touting this as a huge victory by Haley. Every one is giving the percentage, and none are reporting the actual vote count (which I had to snag from a local D.C.-area newspaper — took me more than a half-hour to find…)

  22. “As Israel opts out of Cairo talks on Gaza ceasefire, hostage release. On closer inspection, it’s now being spoken of only as a framework”

As I said several weeks ago, Israel won’t go for a ceasefire unless they get all the hostages back — Hamas can’t return all the hostages because a bunch of them are dead.

  23. “1 in 5 new car sales globally were EVs in 2023, and that’s curbed oil demand. ”

Funny thing: This data always includes fleet sales. The Administration mandated that gummint purchases would be of EVs, whenever possible. Hertz bought 27,000 EVs in calendar 2023. How’d that work out for them? Avis, Budget/Alamo, Coca Cola, and several other corps made huge EV purchases. I haven’t bothered to look, but I wonder if any are doing as well as Hertz…?

Filled up the Expi tonight. Somebody had put a Greta sticker, captioned “How dare you?” on the pump. I noted on it that it was made from petroleum…

  24. “Supreme Court decision due soon: Supreme Court likely to include Trump ballot case in opinions issued Monday. We can all stand around and play “Count the stupid things liberals say in reaction.”

Funny thing is they’re all badmouthing the USSC, but not a one has mentioned that the decision was 9-0.

Latest thing is pencilneck and the other congressional reprobates are floating the idea that Congress can ban Trump from the Election. ‘Thing about that (and you’ll hear some pundit or other toss it into the radio mill in the next few days) is technically, Trump’s second shampeachment was over the “January 6th insurrection.

    He was acquitted.

Therefore, in a fair and honest world, he could not again be tried. In fact, for Congress to attempt to somehow “try” DJT they would have to admit they already did. I suspect “double jeopardy” would get the attention of even the most intellectually-challenged amongst us…

  25. BTW, the hackers who somehow miraculously managed to hack AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile simultaneously, also hacked my Comcast (cable) Internet, SiriusXM, and my GPS systems.

    They’re good… really good!

And they make a much better storyline for the conspironuts than the possibility the Sun screwed things up with that X-3 flare it tossed at us (or the subsequent X and M class flares…)

Damn’ dem hackerz be good…
