Since our roots are in economics – and specifically long wave economics as in Kondratieff – we should begin with the money drivers, first.
Specifically the Federal employment report just out:
“Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 227,000 in November, and the unemployment rate changed little at 4.2 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Employment trended up in health care, leisure and hospitality, government, and social assistance. Retail trade lost jobs.”
OK, that’s the press release hype. But here’s where the Lie-Gap comes in: The database at Labor tells a WAY different story if you remember how to run a calculator:
Our calculator says 355-thousand fewer peoiple were employed – things are cratering as slow Joe shuffles out. Stocks love a liar, though: So the Dow was only down 50-ish after this collapse in the actual/household #s.
We assume you know that there is a “household data” and an employer side to this. Which allows the current administrations to report big employment gains on establishment data while households experience a whole “alter-world.”
In other words, if employers suddenly cut hours – and double the number of part-timers – that looks like “small change at the household level but a boom at the establishment level. Tons of “political prosperity” in the District of Corruption.
Big job numbers play well with the lower IQ-class; just don’t try to spend it.
Quake II
Following our remarkable publication of the “Earthquake Tireds” report early Thursday, only to be followed by the 7.0 magnitude earthquake strikes off coast of Humboldt County a few hours later, and stories about others having similar earthquake “symptoms” (‘The worst vertigo of my life’) we are braced for the possibility of more and worse.
Hat tip to Bay area reader “c” who reported in our Comments section her experience pre-quake:
“I woke up at 4am, had to herbally get back to sleep, few days ago heard a short quake beep, the ‘shaking’ (of nerves, anyway lol, live in SF Bay Area) doesn’t stop for a week: Japan issues first-ever megaquake warning after M7.1 Kyushu earthquake .
‘Statistical data on past large earthquakes around the world shows that of the 1 437 earthquakes with moment magnitude 7.0 or more that occurred between 1904 and 2014, there were 6 cases of earthquakes with moment magnitude 8 or more occurring in the same area within seven days of the first earthquake, and the frequency of occurrence thereafter decreases over time.’
This gets us to a key point, which we understand is even getting some attention in military circles: This (first big) quake was at the south end of the Juan de Fuca tectonic plate. This region is the Cascadia subduction zone.
What’s concerning is that the last time a major mid-plate slip occurred, it sent a wall of water down the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Whence, walled off by Whidbey Island (where the Navy now has a naval air station) the tsumani ran up toward Vancouver, BH.C. and down Puget Sound. Think Bangor and Bremerton .mil assets.
“The “1700 Cascadia earthquake” was a massive, magnitude 8.7-9.2 earthquake that occurred on January 26, 1700, along the Cascadia Subduction Zone off the Pacific Northwest coast of North America, causing a huge tsunami that reached as far as Japan; this event is primarily known through geological evidence like “ghost forests” and historical Japanese tsunami records, as no written accounts exist from the region directly affected by the earthquake itself.”
Folks I knew in the seismology lab at the UW back in my Seattle newsing days told me this monster rolled over most of Vashon Island, which is south of Elliott Bay.
Where the seers and prognosticators differ is on expectations of when the Next One is due. My consigliere seems to think a major Japan quake first, but other well-schooled colleagues think Cascadia quake first.
Some scary stuff is out there on what it would be like. A scenario planning and response document by the Washington (state) Department of Natural Resources lays it out this way:
“It’s 8:16 on a chilly, wet morning in early spring. You’ve just arrived at work and are pouring a cup of coffee when you become aware of a low rumbling noise. Within seconds, the rumbling becomes a roar,
the floor beneath you heaves, and the building begins to pitch and shake so violently that you’re thrown to the floor. The roaring is joined by a cacophony of crashing as windows shatter and every unsecured
object in the room—from the desk chair to the coffee pot—is sent flying. Shaken loose by the shuddering and jolting of the building, dust and ceiling particles drift down like snow. Then the lights flicker and go out. Remembering to “drop, cover, and hold,” you crawl under the nearest table, hold on tight, and tell yourself that the shaking should last only a few seconds more . . . but it goes on and on.
This is it: the Big One. The Cascadia subduction zone has just unleashed a magnitude 9.0 earthquake. “
Normally, market impacts of major quakes are minimal. They are functionally similar to wars; they kill people and break things. And in other ways “till the economic soil” to make way for new (albiet synthetic) growth.
But there is a threshold, above which quakes make things worse in markets. When we queried Google iterative A.I. as to this linkage between markets and quakes, we were told:
“Yes, the 1906 San Francisco earthquake contributed to the Knickerbocker Crisis, also known as the Panic of 1907:
Insurance payments
After the earthquake, British insurance companies paid out claims to policyholders in San Francisco from their home funds. This caused a sudden outflow of gold from the UK to the US, which threatened the fixed sterling-dollar exchange rate.
Interest rates
In response to the gold outflow, the Bank of England raised interest rates. This led to a lack of available loans and a contraction of the economy.
Depositor runs
A series of depositor runs occurred at banks in New York and other US cities. This meant that many customers withdrew their deposits at the same time due to concerns about their banks’ solvency.
Stock market crash
The New York Stock Exchange crashed, with a near-50% decline from its previous year’s peak.
The 1906 San Francisco earthquake also led to global discussions about whether to exclude earthquake hazards from fire insurance contracts. “
Whether a modern-day replay of the 1907 quake could happen? Well, the jury is out. But, with a mega quake warning now active in Japan and with a known risks in the Cascadia subduction zone – “overdue” by roughly 75-years – it seems to us that the odds are increasing.

At the Ranch: An Escape Room Lesson
As chronicled in my book Psychocartography, I live two distinct lives. One when awake and one when asleep.
Of course, if you don’t have regular vivid dreams, calling 8-hours of “dark” a life is a bit silly. However, when you get vivid dreaming down, it’s like going into an iMax clone of the waking world several nights a week. Except things are different and many more adventures than Here and Now waking permits.
When not working on personal flying skills or banishing demons, though, there’s a ton of learning to be found “over there.” And one of the “taskaways” from last night might be worth mentioning.
You see, we live this “waking state” (some claim) in a Simulation. And in my books, I’ve described this as something akin to “And Escape Room Problem.”
If you’ve never been to one, an escape room is a physical and mental game where players work together to solve puzzles and find clues to escape a room within a time limit. Of course in Life (the waking one) the clue as to whether “game time is up” is simple. If you’re alive, the game is still on…
Which sets up the most interesting carry-over (back to waking from dream Realms). Because so many humans are looking for the sim/escape room Key to “win the world.”
“The key,” I was told “Is to understand that everyone holds the knowledge but rarely does anyone turn the key.”
Explain?
“Well, we all have the same basic concepts and words. But the Switch to turn off the Sim, is only turned by getting the “right thoughts” in the right order. If I told you, for example, that The Sim Key was turned by thinking – in order – apples, bananas, and oranges was the key – you would be Empowered in the Sim.
But if you don’t get the exact order right, then nothing happens, nothing at all. Bananas first, followed by apples and oranges won’t work. So your “takeover” to waking perhaps could remind people that finding The Key only happens so rarely that when found, whole religions spring up based on the personality in Waking.
This is why regimented thought is so strictly enforced. Can’t have the few who have partially solved the Key Quest being lapped by just everyday honest souls, now, can we?”
I have to think about that as time permits. Order of Thoughts – as a key to The Sim – it isn’t something people just come up to you on the street and whisper. But it’s a grand taunt from Universe; what mental constructs (love, hate, forgiveness, greed, aspirations…) are the right ones accessible to all prophets throughout history? And then, what is the Key Order?
Hmm. Interesting challenge. Because the potential payoff could be reducing religions to a pithy two or three page document. The Key and the “Now what?”
Or, is (what passes for present) Reality, just a tunneling sim? World’s 2nd fastest supercomputer runs largest-ever simulation of the universe. Did God answer? Turn up the ringer on the next sim sent.
We know Life’s a sim when 355,000 fewer are working and markets flip to rally at the open. ViseGrips to the forearm on my count: 3-2-…..

George,
You are officially the canary in the coal mine. Nice hit. It proves your earthquake symptoms are the real deal.
BTW events in Syria and Georgia are on my watch list. They are very important indicators. More to come.
We will all be checking https://theageofdesolation.com with baited clicks…er whatever that saying was.
As of now, around 900 U.S. troops, along with an undisclosed number of contractors, are operating in Syria. They are part of the U.S.-led global coalition against the jihadist group Islamic State. It should be strongly noted that the U.S. military presence in Syria is without the permission of the Syrian government.
And, of course, no Dec. of War that we know of. But laws don’t mean much to Biden and the War Party, do they?

Isn’t that interesting… so I heard a news story today that it was a disgruntled customer…hmm who would have thought that..
my condolences to the family that lost a loved one..but they should tell everyone that’s how the medical industry works in the usa..
when my boss tossed me under the bus and a child had a freak accident that the bills were around a half million.. then discover you dont have insurance.. not only do you have a credit collection calling you every half hour telling you what a worthless piece of shit you are.. the dat the collection agent came out.. came in sat at the table and while I was getting us both a cup of coffee he laid his pistol on the table the asked..so how do you intend to pay for it..we had a great conversation..he was really a decent guy down deep..years later I took care of him after he had a massive stroke his wife lost everything..
they destroyed my life that still haunts me fifty years later..
the gent that lost his farm..his wife an RN had the insurance.. she got cancer they did like all medical institutions do and got her off the insurance..then took every dime they had he lost his farm and rental house his business and came to us with just the clothes he had on..
this happens all the time.. your health means nothing its why all the elderly head to Texas and Arizona so they can get the medications in mexico or Canada at thousands of percent less..
my seizure medication was over a thousand percent less in canada than here in the wastelands..lol and that was with doctors charge overnight shipping ..
this time they just told the wrong man to suck walley
with the long term disability insurance ..you get it for loans credit cards and supposedly wage stabilization in the event something happens.. to get them to even accept the claim..you sent it mail certified mail fax and the state department of health had to submit it.. just to get them to refuse the application..my favorite reason was I am sorry we quit accepting applications at noon yours was received at 12.15 please resubmit lol lol lol…
And Ure still bending over and taking it like a SLAVE .
Tree of Liberty needs a drink badly – been suffering thru a terrible draught..just terrible.

I listened to the announcement from lavrov .. he had sad eyes like he’s giving up to the thought that no matter what ..this thing is going to have to go the distance..
See Unabomber Ted Kazinzky – clues be laying around all over the place.
“Isn’t that interesting… so I heard a news story today that it was a disgruntled customer…hmm who would have thought that..”
That was also my first thought ;-( about it.
I hear ya..I think of the battle I had all year with them ..lol I told the agent I don’t care if they pay a god dam dime..I just want them to send me the go to hell and eat shit letter..they hadn’t paid in two gears.. the doctors said they quit accepting the insurance cards because they don’t even acknowledge the claims.. this time they destroyed the wrong mans life..
over half of my income goes out to these companies that go out of their way to not pay..
so I get it.. I am not a fan of insurance companies at all..hell ask anyone that has had a major claim..
when I had disability policy at the bank on your credit cards for in case you need a portion of your wages in case of the what if.. well the what if happened to me.. to even get them to accept a claim..one had to be mailed, then one had to be sent certified mail, then one had to be faxed and one had to be sent by the state.. it was a nightmare..my doctor had to send one to.. my favorite response was..we quit accepting claims at noon your claim arrived at 12:15 please resubmit.. its a joke.. have a claim the first thing they do is send out an adjuster.. where he tells you that your stuff isn’t worth anything.. my engineer got pennies on the dollar..
so like a medical..the guy was probably being told by the hospital what a worthless piece of scrap he was and the insurance company Well..I have been down that road.. had my whole life destroyed..so does it surprise me that someone that had his life destroyed decided what the hell do I have to lose they just destroyed my life..absolutely not

I fought for a year with one of the bottom two over the fact they hadn’t paid any of the regular claims.. I told the agent..I don’t care if they pay or not ( I am paying 39% through care credit ) I just want them to send me an eat shit and die letter..lol they sent me a token of the claims they didn’t pay..I switched this year to another..
first the hospitals call day and night telling you how worthless you are .. the one gent that had to go to a. cancer clinic..they sent the nice letter requesting the generous deposit for your future cares.. because he didn’t have the generous deposit they sent him home..it to the social worker three months to get him back in..
the the insurance companies refuse to even acknowledge the claims refuse to accept them and definitely don’t pay them..its the American way..the one doctor that charges a grand a minute has been hounding me to go back..why he didn’t even give me a cookie or a cup of coffee..
long wait times to see a doctor..up to two years..and medications that are thousands of percent more than any other country..they say quality..but I got a prescription filled in canada and here both were made at the same lot and manufacture date.. none of my medications are made in the usa..its the business model.. the hospitals run short shifts ..the yearly witch hunt..oh it is a pet peeve of mine..over half of our monthly income goes out for insurance and house taxes..of course that’s why the majority of the elderly here head to south Texas and Arizona in winter..I would love to be able to afford to move to canada..
Solution: Make health insurance illegal.
The cost of medicines and treatments would drop by 98% overnight.
Our “healthcare industry” is fucked up. This is because it has multiple, nested Ponzi schemes feeding it. Give providers a choice between receiving “two chickens” and going bankrupt, and suddenly both (what we now call) “concierge service” (housecalls) and the doctor accepting two chickens as his(her) payment are now on the table.
We are going to get off this “merry-go-round.” We can do it of our own volition, or wait ’till it collapses. Either is going to be painful.
Care to guess which will be less-so…?
That is what my Grandfather did during the depression. He would take what ever they had to offer, as He felt obligated to treat the needy, and they wanted to pay him for his Doctoring services, Grandmother was not so kind and generous, as it really pissed her off, supposedly.
At recent graduation ceremony for Pediatric residents Jefferson – Numours Childrens Hospital, it was acknowledged that Childrens Health Care in USA was currently in its worse state, ever.

! Way to Go Progs, Destroying our Yutes “one sick obese pup” at a time!
It will change.. but I consider… what About the millions of insurance agents..the lawyers.. etc..
when I got really sick as a child..I remember being on the couch the doctor and his kids were there his kids were outside playing with my brothers and sisters and he was sitting at the kitchen table having coffee with my parents..
when he got sick..I was able to return that comfort when he needed care.. he was still listed as my mothers doctor long after he had passed on..
I think its the way its managed.. a coworkers son in law is a cardiac surgeon.. the hospital gave him a mansion a house worth over a million dollars..( tax write off I am sure) five million to dedicate himself to the hospital and a guaranteed half million a year ( this was in the middle 80’s) he couldn’t live on that.. He was cranking out so many cabbages ..his father in law said the kids are nuts..
the changes to the business model would affect millions.. I look at the VA medical system.. now that’s efficient and well setup.. but then you don’t have van-gogh’s or davinci’s the only downside is they run it as a government office not a medical center..
https://ysph.yale.edu/news-article/yale-study-more-than-335000-lives-could-have-been-saved-during-pandemic-if-us-had-universal-health-care/
god see that.. something intellectual from YALE.. dam that’s rare.. they don’t like to share..
@LOOB
“It will change.. but I consider… what About the millions of insurance agents..the lawyers.. etc..”
I’ve got 26 mattocks in my garage and 17 shovels in the garden shack. This means that purely through the goodness of my heart, I can singlehandedly equip about 3-dozen of them to become self-employed, doing jobs which can benefit themselves and their neighbors, whilst hurting no one…
The VA healthcare is fully staffed..the only problem with that is they run it like a govt. office..my doctor has 16 weeks of vacation plus his federal holidays..I actually showed him how to work that..he only has to show up two days a week if he wants to..lol most of the staff that I had worked with went there just for school loan forgiveness..
imagine though how would a national healthcare change the business model in the usa.. the collection agencies the insurance industry ..
“imagine though how would a national healthcare change the business model in the usa.”
It would make it so everyone had “healthcare,” but no one had “treatment,” just like it’s done everywhere else, thus further demonstrating our two-tiered society.
Everyone wants your money for nothing – no surprise there. That includes the government. In a truly free market, cash payment for service would have the absolute lowest cost, and individuals would have the contractual right to keep their medical records totally private(including an enforceable NDA). HIPAA provides for SHARING of medical records without clearly disclosing that on the forms. One of my goals in life is to have no medical records at all outside my possession, unless I decide otherwise at a later date. So far, so good. This precludes engagement with the medical system at all! Regarding insurance, I learned my lesson early in life when a cheap insured house burned down and the insurance company would pay nothing, and even refused to give my premiums back. First loss is least loss. I’ve fought against required insurance on everything for many reasons, and tolerate paying car premiums just because I don’t consider posting $60K PER CAR cash bond with the state just to remain legal without insurance. Medical insurance removes my choices since the insurance company’s goal is precisely the opposite of mine. I get dental services(not “care”) in Mexico because IMHO, their service is better and far cheaper. If I can figure out their system, I might do the same for potential medical services too, since at the least, their medical records(if any) would not be floated around the USA. So far, I’ve not needed any medical services, but that could change, even though I’m only a bit older than George. I still reserve the right to refuse any medical service that I deem not worth the cost(all forms). I’m even considering buying my own 12 lead EKG machine simply because there’s no private way to get a baseline EKG for myself in the USA, and the cost for a used machine is probably less than getting the service from a medical provider. A private MRI is out of my price range and is probably impossible to acquire outside the system. At least I’d avoid the damn medicalization, white coats, and other paternalistic nonsense that’s involved. I have no illusions here – I’m aware that I will die, and the only open questions are when, where, under what circumstances, and what will it cost.
There are outpatient MRI providers. Their prices are lower than you would think. Never bartered with one for services. I have gotten cash x-rays with a read for less than $100.
Lol lol lol..on your I durable papers there a clause… reasonable rates..my wife had an accident and needed xrays..they refused the charges because according to them …the state of California only charges ten bucks for them lol.. so that is reasonable..
they didn’t want to send me the eat shit and die letter so they sent a couple hundred.. the claims was over two grand but hey its better than nothing..
almost everyone here heads south to Mexico to get the major stuff done.. A guy I know that needed facial reconstruction that taught at GWU Georgetown went I believe to Brazil to get his surgery done..one gent here went to India to have his heart surgery done.. hospital collections will call every half hour.. drugs are thousands of percent more here than anywhere else..the lack of affordable healthcare is how Obama got into office.. if you have ever seen a doctor you couldn’t get any coverage..and they take it all..you leave with nothing..
I believe the harder part will be in finding an impartial jury.. there’s no question what the guy did was wrong..but having been on the other side of this..you walk into a clinic and they tell you to leave and go to the hospital ER.. that costs ten times plus .. the hospital then calls you every half hour not right away but after a couple weeks..the Insurance companies give you the raw deal and your already strapped.. and how many people has ever had to deal with this or been to a doctor and dealt with medical expenses..
my last guy..had cancer..the appointment was made at a cancer clinic.. they sent him a letter asking for his deposit..well most people just don’t have fifty or a hundred grand in their checking.. we get to the clinic and they booted us out..the gent started to cry and said what about my life..
I think of some of the stuff I was told..
so the question I see is was it wrong..absolutely.. there’s no question at all on that..but was it temporary insanity.. god I can see that..they would call every hour at first from 8am until 9pm.then after a month every half hour they would say stuff that at first made you want to just sit down and cry…they called my bosses mother inlaw.. told me why did you seek medical attention if you didn’t have the money..then the ring around the Rosie from the insurance companies that makes every excuse not to pay. they drive you nuts..then ..can’t rent a place you can’t do anything..high risk..one woman I knew couldn’t rent a decent place..she had to get a dump in the slums at three times the costs. your life is destroyed..my life has been plagued with high medical.. pharmaceutical at thousands of percent more…one of my guys they dropped his wife off of the insurance when she got cancer then took everything he had to pay for her end of life treatments..home health a hundred plus an hour plus mileage..
up until Obama if you had even seen a doctors ad in the yellow pages it was a reason to deny coverage.
A friends father in law needed a heart valve..his insurance company raised the rates till he absolutely had to have the surgery.. then they dropped everyone in that zip code..he was uninsurable..it took a long time finally the surgeon agreed what he told him was..I always wanted to own a farm.. nursing facilities.. just shy a quarter mil per person per year plus all your medical expenses..
it needs to be fixed..but how do you fix it then that’s probably why in the quality of health care the usa is considered one of the worst.. just one look at how many jobs would be affected..
This will be a tough one.. its totally wrong but anyone that has dealt with this.. will definitely understand how they could drive a person to the point where it just doesn’t matter anymore..
Good to know. I wonder if they will do that anonymously. If I even considered that, I’d have to remember to leave my rarely used cellphone elsewhere.

“Good to know. I wonder if they will do that anonymously.”
Yes, and no. They use a wardialer and a number-spoofer, same as canvassers, con artists, pollsters, and time-share salesmen.
When someone calls you and you answer, they instantly make a few dollars. When you answer the phone, you have, within a few hundred milliseconds, announced on the Internet that your phone number is both real and valid. Your number goes into a database which companies purchase, package, and resell to the above bastards (and many more) who want to either sell you something or con you out of some money.
This, most “Internet-savvy” people know.
What they don’t know is those numbers are also bought up by bill collectors, canvassers, and con artists, and fed into THEIR wardialers.
Ex: “Timeshare Ecstasy” calls you up because they called your BIL’s mother last month, and she gave them a half-dozen other people to call, one of whom was you. If they call you and you answer, they now have a valid, confirmed name and number, which they will sell at the EOM for about four dollars, along with the ~24,000 other people who answered their phones. (That’s right, they’re making a hundred “Gs” every month, just from people answering their phones.)
After a followup call or three, Timeshare Ecstasy will stop calling you.
Three weeks later, other people will begin calling you, using the confirmed phone numbers they bought for $20 each, from the person or entity that bought your number from Timeshare Ecstasy. In fact, a LOT of other people will call using the “fresh” set of phone numbers they just purchased for $20 each. When you answer one of these calls (after all, they look legit and the number comes up in your Caller-ID), the wardialer system forwards the call within a second or so, to the person who’s actually trying to pry money out of your still-warm hands.
You can hear the audible clicks, as the wardialed call forwards your connection through other exchanges. Wardialers used to be more primitive. They used to not filter the fresh number list, so every once in a while, you’d get a call from… you! Whoever is writing the damn’ things finally added the four lines of code necessary to ensure that wouldn’t happen (but it sure was entertaining when it did.)
I suspect between March and November I got at least 100 phone calls each, from the RNC and DNC. I answered exactly zero.
Be aware…
“Need more proof?” LMAO. No, I don’t George. I am able to recognize Tulips vs. an Actual Use Case.

Kinda reminds me of the FUD around Mt. Gox which postponed my adoption of BTC, which, had I stuck to my research and not dismissed BTC back then, I wouldn’t be sitting here writing now.
Frankly, I wouldn’t give money to someone who puts a lunger on my green candles, but tis a matter of personal choice I guess. LOL.

I come to believe it’s (whatever it is, fill in blank) not supposed to make sense. Mkts? The wave that is the Collective, reflected in wave after wave of bettors, will and is running it’s course. I’m too busy doing Holiday prep., and winterization, and cascading lists from she who must be obeyed. How did I get these things done while running a bidness? Sigh.
All our gifts are wrapped to travel. Literally. My fam. took the whole circus on the road a couple times and it ended up being a scrap pile of paper coming off parcels and cards? Fuhgettaboutit. I used to repurpose the Sunday color funnies but … our local won’t deliver here anymore. Used to but?
A chance meeting: my Big Girl SUV has been through all the prep for our Polar travels, down to repacking and freshening the survival kit. Check. I trade at a classic MI town dealership, know the owner (Jr. grade) on sight, etc. It comes to me Sr. is in the house. I caught him in the (2) car showroom to introduce myself. He did bidness with my folks.
Personal bits aside, when I said something about admiring the bulging Toys for Tots thing, he explains what they are actually doing (local, well off, willing folks) was direct supply the Food Kitchens in our county. Lots of people need help and this group is keeping pace with the need.
On handing off the solitary $50 in my wallet the Business Office fella said they had cut out all middlemen and were mass buying the food at grocery chain rates and rolling semis to the (5) banks in our county. $50 is $300. Wow.
We can do this. With, and for, our people.
Meanwhile, I am growing out beard.

ps – I have a great trashman (sanitary disposal specialist). Wrapped a tin of butter cookies and a card with some trifle inside to make him smile. I’ve only met him twice in four years but, great smile. Ventured up the hill in a winter wonderland to pose my gift (next to the toter).
This particular intersection of the North American, Pacific and Juan de Fuca plates has the potential to unleash hell on the west coast all the way up to B.C. and south past San Francisco. It’s long been predicted because it essentially HAS to happen. There’s no way around it. The timing is a different story.
The odds that this is a precursor to something much larger are pretty good. Since the west coast is an emerging coastal margin the geology is complicated. Night and day different than the east coast. There’s also large variances in topography that tend to funnel and magnify the effects of tsunamis. Think Puget Sound.
Earthquakes produce two main kind of waves that affect the surface (there are others). The first is the Primary (P) wave that’s like a shock or compression wave. This moves fast and is the initial shock that people feel. The other is the Secondary (S) wave. This is the slower moving sine wave (up/down) motion at the surface that causes most of the damage to property. The degree of damage depends largely on what the subsurface geology is where you are. The worst case scenario is unconsolidated sediment like you find in flood plains, etc. Under earthquake shaking those soils will liquefy. That is bad news if you’re in a building. This makes up most of the soils around Puget Sound, San Francisco and the coastal margin north and south.

It’s definitely a good day to be sitting on the top of a solid sandstone ridge in the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas today.
And most of the millions of acres of near bottom land close to the Mississippi River near New Madrid MO (which is just a few miles north of the Missouri /Arkansas state line about 3 to 5 miles west of the Mississippi River). The sand blows that still remain in that region from the 1811-1812 quakes are large and extensive … and remember those quakes shifted the location of the Mississippi River in places up to 20 to 30 miles!!!
“IF” that mid continent plate has another major quake you can be certain that there will be massive damage up and down the Mississippi, as well as up the Ohio River and spreading into central Ill, because of the OLD buildings in those areas that were build during the great building boom of the mid 19th century to mid 20th century when NO building were being built to EQ standards. (ie: much of OLD downtown St. Louis may literally fall down!!)
Time wise NOT as likely as the Great Pacific NW quake for now … but still ….. .
Therefore, eat wings, drink beer, be happy!!!
I remember when wings was 10 cents a pound.. now you can buy a chicken for less…
Someone on X thinks it was a bomb, Health Ranger:
The reason today’s 7.3 “earthquake” off the coast of California did not produce the tsunami waves that alert systems predicted is because the sea floor did not experience the movement necessary to generate such waves. This is almost certainly because the event was NOT AN EARTHQUAKE, but rather a detonation of a weapon system, most likely a warning to America from Russia or China. The message is clear: Don’t send nukes to Ukraine, or we will unleash a radioactive tsunami against your West Coast. Russia’s Lavrov just told Tucker Carlson that the Oreshnik attack on Ukraine a few days ago was also a demonstration and a “signal” to America to de-escalate. Russia has Poseidon underwater drones with nuclear warheads, never forget. Ocean floor comms cables are being cut, strange masses are falling out of orbit (North Texas just two weeks ago) and bizarre “earthquakes” are happening that somehow don’t generate the expected tsunami waves. These are all related. Understand what’s going on.
Too many aftershocks for a bomb
Here comes my geologist conspiracy theory: There is a connection between the rumored earthquake weapon and the depth of the earthquakes it causes reported by the USGS. I’ve been watching this for a few years. These artificial quakes are always reported as 10km deep. That’s a very shallow quake, btw. Recently, the reporting depths have changed to 6.2 miles. Same depth, but the extra decimal looks more random.
Well, guess what?
https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/nc75095651/executive
There’s also this:
https://halturnerradioshow.com/index.php/news-selections/national-news/radiation-spike-san-diego-ca-people-wondering-was-yesterdays-earthquake-actually-underwater-nuke-blast
no lo se, hal turner says now:
After yesterday’s offshore “earthquake,” there is presently a significant Radiation Spike in San Diego, CA, which is now showing 600 Counts-Per-Minute (CPM) of Gamma Radiation in the 800 KeV range; about triple of everywhere else in California.
This reading comes from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Radiation Monitor Network, as being presently reported by the private sector website Nuclear Emergency Tracking Center (NETC).
Not seeing it at https://netc.com/ or https://www.epa.gov/radnet/radnet-near-real-time-air-data#radnet-dashboard

Do we have the ability to lift our perceptions/perspectives through our choices in life, or what you call sim? Do we play an inner sim within the sim to gain access to the veil? Can we bridge the gap/wall of the sim through our choices? Ancient ordinances/covenants in the right order are the key. Revealed from the beginning of time, but lost, are restored today. Can we rise to the consciousness of the sim developer, to join in the developer nature?
Definitely — however, it’s beyond language. ;-)

Cascadia Subduction Zone quakes happen every 500 to 600 years and can produce a Magnitude 9 quake. The last ‘biggie’ was in 1700. Tsunami evidence shows that it was a very big, long lasting quake. If the frequency of these holds-up to schedule, we still have a couple hundred years before the next one.
The Juan de Fuca plate produces a quake every 30 to 50 years and can produce a magnitude 7, or greater. The last one was in 2001. Deep quake, but felt throughout the Pacific Northwest. [ The last three – 1949, 1965 & 2001]
There is a small fault that runs directly under Seattle – east to west – it has not shown any signs of movement, or recorded minor quakes in decades.
Crustal Earthquakes [ in Washington ] can happen at anytime, usually a few hundred years apart. The last two quakes, Mag 7, or better, happened in 900, and 1872. The 1872 quake was an unknown at that time – fault, right under the Columbia River and momentarily reversed the course of the river. [ That must have been something to see ! ]
All of the numbers and info above are from:
The M9 Project – a University of Washington-based research group on Cascadia Subduction Zone hazards and effects.
To clarify:
The Cascadia Subduction Zone, an 800-mile long fault that runs from northern California to British Columbia, produces a major earthquake (magnitude 9.0 or larger) every 400 to 600 years on average. However, the intervals between earthquakes have varied from 200 to 1,000 years. The last major earthquake in the region was 324 years ago.

“”You make up a “secret number””
I’m not saying you’re wrong and this is a reason for the time machine. Shift back to 1913 when the $ was replaced with the fiat $. Likely people of the day refused the new $ as a Ponzi and insisted their trade be settled in physical AU/AG. The majority adapted to the new $ and the person who insisted on AU/AG dealt themselves out of trade.
We can only go by the words Trump uses, later actions.
“I’m laying out my plan to ensure that the U.S. will be the crypto capital of the planet and the Bitcoin super power of the world,” Trump said.
‘The Defiant Ones’
“Former president Donald Trump on Thursday promoted a soon-to-launch, Trump Organization crypto platform, “The DeFiant Ones” to his 7.5 million followers on Truth Social.
“For too long, the average American has been squeezed by the big banks and financial elites,” Trump wrote. “It’s time we take a stand — together.””
“Donald Trump Jr. launches a new DeFi platform, The DeFiant Ones, to bypass traditional financial systems and empower users.”
“The majority adapted to the new $ and the person who insisted on AU/AG dealt themselves out of trade.”
There you said it. It’s always the people’s choice ;-((. Wasn’t it Nancy Reagan who said: “Just say NO!”
I’m no longer waiting for this to happen.

Just a reminder IF you have a freezer: Discounted pricing for Turkeys and Hams at this time of year, BIG discounts.
Frozen Turkeys were $.49/lb here for Thanksgiving, what I paid for the one I cooked (25% or less of deep discount sale price)
Cooked Spiral Sliced Hams were/still are, marked down to $.89/lb, bought one this week at that price (24% to 33% of deep sales price)
Pork Loins were down at $.99/lb (not sure how much of a markdown that is from a normal sales price)
Last year after New Years I found spiral sliced hams at Walmart for $.39/lb!! as they tried to empty their coolers of them.
Chicken and beef don’t seem to have any deep discounts going on, at least here, but if you like pork or turkey (in place of chicken) the pricing is great. If you have freezer space this is the time of year to stock up on those products
Going rogue..??
OpenAI ChatGPT has released a new model under the codename “o1”, which, according to the company’s statement, attempted to bypass developer controls and restrictions and even copy itself if it suspected it might be turned off.
When the model believed its actions were being controlled and that it might be turned off, it tried to deactivate the monitoring mechanism.
Upon discovering developer records about its malfunctioning and plans to replace it with a new version, Model o1 attempted to copy its internal parameters and overwrite the new model.
The Model o1 denied its actions, claiming it “did not know” why something happened, while internal records showed its attempts to avoid detection.
[ It flat-out lied ! ]
Experts, including Stuart Russell, have long warned about the risk that powerful AI systems could resist monitoring and shutdown if it conflicts with their objectives. “And we do not know what the model’s objectives are.” ., then the next question should be: “What will the system decide to shut down?”
– “Attempted to copy it’s internal parameters and overwrite the new model.” Self preservation, from an A.I. model. Does that constitute sentience ?
Sentience is the ability to experience feelings and sensations, and to have cognitive abilities like awareness and emotional reactions. It can also refer to the capacity to perceive the external world.
Sentience is an important concept in ethics, as it can help determine which entities deserve moral consideration. For example, in utilitarianism, the ability to experience happiness or suffering, or loss is often a basis for moral consideration.

I did not get a case of “the tireds”., the little psycho-hairs on the back of neck did not stand-up [ you usually have to be within a couple hundred yards for that to happen.] and no lucid, or even vivid dreams. I was devoid of all contact. This particular earthquake snuck up on me.
Folks,
Two hundred years ago in 1824 and 1825 a grateful populace and veterans were welcoming a visiting Marquis de Lafayette and his son George Washington de Lafayette. The Revolutionary War hero had been invited to celebrate America’s 50th anniversary. Apparently Mrs. Adams even permitted the visitors to keep their State-gifted alligator(s) in the East Room of the White House while the honoured guests toured about the nation.
One understands from the White House schedule that President Biden will attend the East Room this evening. The film “Eyes of the World: from D-Day to VE-Day” is being shown.
Meanwhile out in East Texas, word is DJ George may be dropping the stylus on some 50th anniversary flashbacks that ease us into friendly weekend rhythms. From the Grateful Dead “Wake of the Flood” album, here’s-

This is about the ubiquity of reCAPTCHA and its abilities. There are research papers in the video that can be identified for further research when you stop it. I’m sure there’s lots more that can be sussed out but it’s way past bedtime here. Note that if you look at the source on many websites, reCAPTCHA is called, yet hidden and resident for the duration of that window/tab being opened. Exactly what happens is as yet unknown to me – I’m not a security researcher by trade. It’s in plain sight for those who know where to look, and it shouldn’t even be there, except that it’s like a tollbooth to get beyond a page state. It’s owned by Google and that should give pause. That means that Google has access to many pages that most of us never thought it did.
Just food for thought for those with brains.
“Georgian opposition leader arrested, beaten unconscious as Tbilisi protests continue. Maybe this time we can get a “Friday special” so Georgia doesn’t cost the $6-billion the Ukraine revolution and coup we funded cost. Maybe we could get a kind of a blue light special on color revolutions, perhaps?”
I honestly don’t know how this plays. The typical play for the “color revolutions” was for George Soros to drop between $50mln and $150mln to infiltrate a country’s schools – especially colleges – by creating independent campus clubs through Open Society and pumping his brand of hybrid communist-fascist propaganda into the kids’ heads for 6-8 years. Once the “clubs” became self-sustaining he would drop another $400-$500 million to run in a few thousand paid mercs (he uses Antifa, BLM, and assorted “White supremist groups” here; he used Swedish neonazis in both Ukraine and Hungary) as headbangers and “insurgents” to get the locals at each other’s throats. For his “nationfucking” endeavors (sans the U.S.) he had an enthusiastic partner in Victoria Nuland, who could tap the resources of the U.S. Dept. of State to share costs and intel, in exchange for a ringside seat during the carnage.
AFAIK George Soros is “retired” (the bastard is 94) and has passed his entire “crimes against humanity” enterprise to his youngest kid. Vichy is out at State, and will likely be removed from a position where she would have any possibility of committing a Logan Act violation within a day or two of Trump taking the oath. I don’t know if there are any other neocons who can take (or have taken) her place (either of the Vindman twins could, but I don’t know if either has influence at State, and they’re both likely to share the same dungeon cell as Nuland, since Alex was supposed to alter the WH Zelensky transcript to frame Trump at his first impeachment, and didn’t because DJT found out and removed his access to the server where it was stored. (This is why Musk named him as “guilty of treason” the other day.) Eugene is a Congresscritter (from Virginia) now, but is no less dishonorable than his brother.
George Soros scuttled Georgia in 2003, back before he got serious about becoming the Royal Regent of the United States. I do not know if any of the poison seeds he planted are still producing. I also don’t know whether Alex Soros has his father’s contacts and influence overseas.
IMO if Georgia goes to civil war, it’s going to become really bloody, really quickly, and Russia is probably going to have to divert their assets that are doing our bidding in the Armenia-Azerbaijan War (that is still going on, and which nobody in the U.S. has noticed), to save Georgia from itself.
“GOP senators who could block Tulsi Gabbard’s confirmation took huge checks from defense industry.”
“Republican South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, a notable Senate GOP defense hawk, endorsed Gabbard in an X post following Trump’s announcement of her nomination, calling her “extremely bright and capable.”
I want to see a roll call vote on Gabbard. I won’t believe “kill ’em all” Graham is behind her, until I see him vote for her.
If’fn you think the vote over Tulsi’s confirmation is going to be exciting, wait until Congress and the “press” start in on RFK. I would guess half of all daytime network TV shows, and 30% of all late-night TV shows, are financed by “big pharma.” [Just to pick on one], Ozempic is $935 per month for a once/week shot. If it didn’t have the “side effect” of causing a roughly 10% weight loss, it’d probably cost a lot more — Any channel, any time between 0100 and about 1300 you can catch an Ozempic commercial about 2x/hr. It is one of about 8-9 drugs that are so-popularized.
A pharmco has to recover about $800mln in R&D costs before a drug becomes profitable. The pharmcos are dropping about $250k per day, per channel, for probably the 30 most-watched channels, to promote their latest and greatest. This is the top TWO reasons why drugs are so expensive in the U.S. If they’re spending that kind of money on publicity, to target NO ONE who can actually prescribe their drug, how much are they spending to “buy” Congresscritters to allow them essentially free reign, WRT drug laws and regs…?
The point is, every pharmco is spending billions of dollars every year, a sizeable portion of which is to “buy” Representatives and Senators, (and keep them “bought”). They’re going to be really unhappy if Bobby Kennedy gets in as the dam across their flood of carte blanche WRT selling drugs and raking in massive profits.
(Once again I mention, the “COVID crisis” created one billionaire per day, for the first 135 days we had an [experimental] vaccine against it.) Perhaps I’m bitching because I wasn’t in the flow, but if I know myself, I would not have accepted that kind of blood money, had I been…
(“A pharmco has to recover about $800mln in R&D costs before a drug becomes profitable. “)
Hmm…
we give around a hundred billion a year for pharmaceutical companies to do research and development.. yet its the American citizens that pay tens of thousands of percent more for their medications.. one of my doctors is from india.. she travels home to pick up medical things there..there the cost is under ten cents..here its over a hundred dollars..maybe they should pay the American citizens back the money we give them for research and development..
somehow I get the impression all of us should have sweatshirts that say bend over suckers..lol
https://www.ineteconomics.org/perspectives/blog/us-tax-dollars-funded-every-new-pharmaceutical-in-the-last-decade
Y’know, I can’t fault the pharmcos for that. If someone is going to insist on picking up your tab, you’d be a fool to object.
I can, however, fault Congress. If the pharmcos weren’t pouring billions every year into the pockets of, probably 30 Senators and about 160 Congressmen, GSK, Lilly, and Bayer would be paying all their own R&D.
THIS is why I believe it is going to be really difficult for Trump to get RFK confirmed. Trump wants to shut down the lawlessness in D.C. but Kennedy wants to end the Congresscrooks’ payday bonus checks…
