In case you forgot…

Here’s how our Sunday news distillation ended:

Watch Quake Risks

August 12 brings a total solar eclipse across Greenland, Iceland and Spain near the Perseid meteor peak.

Skip the Internet hype and think instead about land tides, crustal loading and stress.

Coffee gone. Shop calls.

Today?

M 7.4 – 5 km S of San José del Palmar, Colombi

Widespread damage.

Coincidence or how domain-interactions work?

  1. I find it interesting there’s an eclipse in totality and completing near sunset over Garababdal Spain, Perseids, a six planet alignment, and a possible Aurora Borealis all on August 12. I’ll be interested to see if Manfred’s last newsletter hit the mark.

    • The reader may be referring to Manfred Zimmel’s work at https://www.amanita.at/en/ We would also chime that the “Soul Review” period is his work well be ending on/around Auguist 15th and that seems like a very good time to become defensde. Very, very (heads-down) defensive.

  2. New Moon or Full Moon more associated with quakes than Eclipses..
    https://www.scientificamerican.com/podcast/episode/big-earthquakes-may-be-more-likely-during-new-and-full-moons/
‘So the researchers crunched a bunch of numbers: by looking at more than 10,000 medium and large earthquakes, they found that the proportion of large events increased when tidal stress was high.

The results do not imply that every full or new moon will bring an earthquake—obviously. What the findings mean is that high tidal stress during new or full moons may up the chances that an earthquake will grow bigger than it otherwise might have been.’

      • Shitty NRG

New Moon = Darkness, no slivers- very best energetically speaking..”really good scheisse”. 3 days of darkness is hear with New Moon in August. Bigtime Qi collecting/gathering opportunity..

Full Moons – not so much – NRG is difficult with Full Moons as not very subtle at all, jarring like. She usually starts smacking my ass 1 week before the Full Moon appears. Like Peptide Therapies, everyone will achieve different benefits, but they will trend in one”direction”

The full Sturgeon Moon comes this month with partial eclipse.

        • Actually, I think you’re mixing three different things and treating them as one. Put on the deerstalker hat, Watson, and follow me here. It may help.

First, there is real geophysics. The Moon and Sun produce measurable tidal effects, including solid-Earth tides. No argument there. Land tides are real, which is one reason I’ve long been interested in whether useful precursors to major quakes can be pushed out beyond 24 hours.

Second, there is observational biology and psychology. Humans unquestionably respond to light, and lunar-cycle effects on sleep have produced some interesting — but inconsistent — results. Some studies report altered sleep around portions of the lunar cycle; others find essentially nothing. There are even papers looking at lunisolar gravitational variation rather than moonlight itself.

So I’m not dismissing the possibility of a small biological lunar signal. The trouble is what happens next. This is exactly where the cultists and cretins of the woo-woo sphere usually pile aboard. Real phenomenon, variable claims, near-zero useful replication in real life.

          Then comes your third jump:

          New moon = good Qi.
          Full moon = shitty energy.
          Darkness = better spiritual work.

Maybe. But that conclusion does not automatically fall out of land tides, sleep studies, or chronobiology.

I don’t find it cleanly established in serious feng shui or TCM material either. And I don’t mean modern Internet fortune-cookie versions. I mean core texts, traditional commentaries and the stuff that has survived because generations found enough signal in it to keep copying it.

So put some evidence under the claim.

If you have years of logs showing better meditation, dream work, insight, HRV, EEG, sleep depth, remote-viewing scores — whatever — clustered around the new moon, now we have something worth looking at. Run the regressions. Strip away seasonality, sleep debt, weather, expectation bias and the rest of the noise. See whether anything survives.

Otherwise we have quietly walked from:

measurable geophysics ? mixed chronobiology ? metaphysics

…without putting up a road sign where the pavement ended.

That doesn’t make the metaphysics wrong. It means the evidentiary bridge hasn’t been shown.

And right now, absent the logs, this one whiffs more of wild overclaiming than hidden physics.

I’m perfectly willing to entertain the last category. Hell, I spend a fair amount of time there.

But don’t borrow credibility from the first two unless you can show me the bridge. Wet-stamped PE drawings would be even better.
