“Fat Lady” in the Charts

No, the “Fat Lady” hasn’t started singing, yet. But in our ChartPack today, you can definitely get the sense she’s “tuning up.”

Since this is a semi/sort-of Holiday Weekend, we will keep our remarks brief.  I have a birthday party to prepare for – although living an isolated life, that means thawing a prime rib and chilling champagne.

Which will lead to “chilling” before the Tuesday open.

  1. George,

I saw that same headline re: Nikkei Hi and thought huh? By my chart(s) the ^N225 hit 38,957.441 in Dec., 1989. This week it hit 38,865.059 on 02/15/24. So, the Japanese blue chip index _almost_ hit a nominal Hi, 3 decades and change later but … not quite. Agenda anyone?

Probably savvy to stay neutral over the 3-day weekend. The PPT (President’s Working Group) has ample time to cook up a rally for Tuesday and shorts could get stuck. Or, reality intrudes and longs pay the Pfeiffer (Michelle Marie)? TBD.

ATL: winter returned with sub-freezing temps (it’s 20F as I type) and our world turned white again. Knew it was too good to last. Plenty of indoor projects await per Mrs. E. Yes Dear. Mostly finished on the forever bedroom so moving on to funner stuff.

Maybe I’ll prep BBQ for brisket and build a fire?
    Have a fine weekend alles,
    Egor

      • I have some good leather treatment used on the seats of the new truck here that will treat those cracked leather lines.
“…let me know how my birthday was…”
Considering your capsicum extracts, I suspect you had a really, really hot time! I also think you might get a visit from the NRC if you try that with the Carolina Reapers when they grow up. Please don’t induce a case of ‘spontaneous human combustion’ on yourself. We enjoy your writing too much.

  2. The Executive Committee met yesterday for our semi-regular business discussions and plans for solving world issues where the big red Reset Button is frequently mentioned. Refreshments were limited to coffee due to Miss Elenor being on vacation so no dinner plate sized cinnamon rolls were on the menu.
Since switching our business model 5 years ago to direct sales to our subscribers we started doing visits to processors where our product is processed. Mid scale processors are getting near impossible to locate. The past couple years especially. Lester and I visited one processor early last week and this time we decided to do it unannounced. We found this operator is barely holding on mostly due to a lack of reliable workers. This doesn’t give us much hope for the near future and if things don’t get turned around before next year we will likely shut down. Probably not a bad idea since we are down to 4 of the original 7 members. Gene at 82 finally retired to a memory care facility in September and those of us remaining are from 73 to 88 years old. Most small scale family farms are in danger of going under. Think about that when you go to the grocery store to buy your food.
I think everyone here in this brilliant group knows this. The sad question is are there enough of us left to influence change for the better? I have hope that we will.
    Stay safe. 73

    • Hmmm.what’s hour turnover rate?
this is going to sound rude and crude.. but after all my years its always proven reliable.
you can get a calendar to put a colored star for each member in a department .. in no time you sill spot the pattern of people missing work and can deal with it.

here is what I tell the kids…
      what’s the wage?
      what are the benefits?
      what is the turnover ratio?
instead of visiting with the gent making god awful amounts of money..grab yourself a cup of coffee buy a box of doughnuts and hit the breakroom.
leave the pencil pusher in his office maybe give him a mirror so he can admire himself..
usually there’s an upset in one of those areas if they can’t hold reliable staff..
if its only about the well being of the pencil pusher..then have him hit the floor working.
usually if your turn over rate is above thirty percent each ten percent over that tells you what management is like.. if its over 45 percent but the wages and benefits are decent..then its a draw..you will have a scrappy boss and never will feel as part of the family.. if turnover rate is over 60 and everything else is good then keep it as long as you can tolerate the moron and find another job..its a stepping stone while your job searching..
the minions want to feel as if they are a part of the team. there is a company that when the old man ran it..someone had to die to get someone to hire for..he noticed that single parents had a higher absence.. the reason was kids..they get sick school won’t have them and daycare won’t see them the parent has to miss..he put in a free daycare and sick daycare no more missed time.. he treated his employees like family.
sadly most employers treat the wage earners as if they are slaves. the visit in the break room don’t ask questions listen..in fifteen minutes you’ll definitely know more about the company than you want to know. or go to the plant hang out..
the teller at the bank..after insurance daycare and driving to work..makes a whopping 2.00 A week..she is only there for the insurance. as prices soar benefits drop if there’s a shitty management you’ll lose employees at 70 percent up..
its like going to visit someone. if they enjoy your company and you feel welcome you’ll hang around if there’s a lot of drama your going to want to get out of there fast.
Wal-Mart when it first came to town..one of the checkers at the grocery store got a job there..after about three weeks I ran into her..so how’s the new job. she proceeded to tell me about the manger that chewed her ass every day treated the employees like shit. but the benefits were good and the pay better than everywhere else.. she said one early morning the boss gave her the daily but chewing..got back and the stress got the best of her..A little old man stocking shelves with her asked her..what’s wrong honey..she proceeded to vent..when she finished he said I also sorry honey he is not Wal-Mart quality..who she had vented to was Sam himself showed up went to work.took care of the problem and she just retired a year or so ago.
if you have huge turnover..look at who’s running the show..
you get more bees with honey
      people

    • My father worked for a multi national company.. I met the colonel when I turned five..gave me the choice of product..
I couldn’t het a job there because my father worked there.. almost sixty years mind you..
when I was a young adult I could off load semi’s for a set amount..one day the colonel came in checking warehouse..seen me took off his suit coat got in the trailer and we visited.. years later dad retired and I was working at the grocery store he was touring the store to make sure all the displays were good and product filled.
he seen me sacking groceries again took off his suit coat and worked beside me for a half hour. the whole time asking me about how things were how each of my siblings were doing and to give my parents a congratulations on their upcoming anniversary..
my dad was a low level delivery boy in a huge company with tens of thousands of employees. how many bosses today can even tell you who collects the trash
is or who sweeps the floors..

    • Most small scale family farms are in danger of going under.

The sad question is are there enough of us left to influence change for the better?

      Moink?

It’s based in KCMo and rumor has it Lucinda Cramsey has more demand than she has local farmers to fill the orders.

      • That is a deep contemplating subject…If you get some time read the 12 book series the history of the world civilizations.. I know its at the LOC ..but any college political science library should have it..
most nursery rhymes that all parents teach to their toddlers as bedtime stories..usually are learning lessons about past events. the lessons taught so past events have the opportunity to be thwarted before they occur..
today we have the see no evil ,,speak no evil, say no evil being called in for questioning..what they aren’t seeing is that in reality they will be the three blind mice tossed under the wheels.. our congress.. their only true concern is their next day off and how they should be politically aligned for coming political turn over..
the thing is the nobleman and women today are only thinking of political survival sitting in the bubble..the house of congresses halls are vacant..the chairman’s test used as a sex toy by the assistants.. the term get a room comes to mind but why spend that much money for a room when they have all that splendor..
what is it now 87% of the people are begging their representatives that this needs to be fixed.. that to me says the only ones not being affected are the upper 10% .
what does history say.. it says at some point in the frustrating situations the discontented will toss away the political parties and then demand compliance..
as the disconnected scurry to align themselves politically.. the Herd mentality sets in and it allows for someone evil to get his roots.. the events are all there the symbols are all appearing.. As in the books the noblemen and women are getting their chances to right what the people are feeling.. my prayers are they will..like the war in Ukraine it all could have been a non event.. instead we will borrow more money the prices at the checkout are going to continue to increase..taxes are going to increase to compensate for the increased expenses due to speak no evils inability to do his job..
two complications to set off a historical herd environmental movements.. loss of product..supply line disruption.. we continue to repeat our strategic reserves.. and then famine..A drought lack of supplies and throwing the cost on the kid at the burger stop.
bringing more dangerous environment to already dangerous neighborhoods.
Now they are bringing in the can’t touch this kid lol lol..
I am curious if he will wear baggy red pants like those god awful jeans I bought when he comes in in two weeks..
        https://youtu.be/otCpCn0l4Wo?si=U2L1MgRCRP09pOyK
that would be hilarious.. lol lol its funny seeing him do the can’t touch this microphone speeches lol lol and the chairman babbling about what was that he was talking about lol lol
now if its the poison pawn trap.. it sure appears of it.. then the internal army will be in place..all the threat assessments I have read says a potentially sizable army has been allowed in the gates and presently getting assistance and charged to the people.
What will Happen will it be the Trojan horse army..will it be the prices and famine ..will it be Kim in NK starting the go to war dance..setting off attacks on 8 fronts..
some in congress are building ten foot walls..through history other nobelmen and women assumed the same thing. in Germany that was what they did to..we all know how that turned out..
I can tell you it has me scared..

the horrible part is those of us have a feeling of how this can turn out .. are, afraid of the potential turn out..
alois irlamair and others have predicted..

        https://theageofdesolation.com/nostradamus/

sadly our representatives all believe politics is going to fix it.. so send another hundred billion why not a trillian..
the lessons from history have all been catalogued if The noble men of today could just pull their heads out of their butts maybe this could all be avoided..except for the currency reset.. its to upside down now to avoid that but then who am i..just an imbecile moron in the wastelands that gets less than most spend for coffee money to live on.. I am just a nobody that loves to read..

      • The books the history of world civilizations is a fast read.. similar to the book the creature from Jekyll island ..it is a fast read..pretty soon you see the common pattern in each example..
Same story different times.. the horrifying part is it usually opens the door to tyrants..

        • Will and Ariel Durant’s “The Story of Civilization”?

10 volumes … wrote it over 45+ years and had one more volume to go when both died in their (late?) 70s/early 80’s . It was their life’s work and passion, spent their entire careers writing it. They got their History of the World completed up to about 1800+-.

I got my family’s complete set, it was a book of the month club book every time a new one was issued FOR DECADES, but unfortunately I gave my set away during one of my moves. A few years ago I went out on Amazon and bought back a complete set, though 3 of the volumes are mismatched (different printing but same book).

I highly recommend that series for a basic understanding of the history of the recorded world.

Three other books that help give you a good foundation are:

“Guns, Germs, and Steel” by Jared Diamond which is how civilization developed, and where and why, based upon the natural crops and animals which were then further influenced by diseases, wars, the development of metals

“The Changing World Order” by Ray Dalio, the founder of the 2nd biggest hedge fund Bridgewater & Associates. It is a very recent book but drawing upon the massive resources of his hedge fund (computers, massive data bases, and personnel) it quantifies the various stages countries go through, economically and politically, and how those countries fail or succede (economically and politically).

The work was originally done for internal purposes of investing across the world by Bridgewater but Ray Dalio decided to open up for public view the results of decades of research by his firm. As he mentions at the beginning of his text as he and those at Bridgewater would come up with certain observations and conclusions they would they have true experts in each specific field look at those very specific conclusions and critique them, which then allowed them to change or modify their conclusions and decision matrix.

The amount of Research that Ray Dalio and Bridgewater & Associates did in obtaining and organizing the data for the book – originally done for internal Bridgewter purposes (and 40x amount more than is in the book is available FREE on line to download from Bridgewater’s computers) would probably have been the output of 30+ PHD Thesises (imo actually closer to 100). NO ACADEMIC single academic researcher would have been able to have the money or the personal time to obtain and organize the data that Ray Dalio and Bridgewater put into that book .

HIGHLY RECOMEND!! (“The Changing World Order” by Ray Dalio) (fwiw his conclusions dovetail very very closely with “The Fourth Turning”)

        • Whoops … third book:

Secrets of the Temple by William Greider.

This book has been around now for decades but is still one of the best books out there wrt the Federal Reserve and how it controls “Money”. When combined with Ray Dalio’s book, which also talks a LOT about Central Banks, you will have a Master’s Degree education in that arena!! (and know more imo than most Harvard PHD economists about how the world REALLY works)

      • Right now it isn’t just the family farms..its way bigger..
and encompasses everyone including the businesses..
the last increase in power as an example.. wasn’t to terrible high. what it involved though is to compensate for the increase every employee should have gotten a nickel wage per hour increase..they didn’t what they got was a reduction of hours.. that modest increase due to increased costs also involved the business and all the manufacturer the goods in the company..
they had to remain competitive so prices stayed the same..bags of chips the chips were replaced by air..

        https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/biden-blames-corporate-greed-for-driving-higher-prices-in-the-us/ar-BB1hONBo

it has nothing to do about greed..we just was talking about a local merchant…I know what they pay for the building i have an idea on their rate of business..
they are not making money if they are its very little..not counting wages and utilities building. costs at the gas station.. I did the books for the local gas station..the maximun they are taking in as profit from all sales is
500 A day.. he is struggling.. ever the boss works on day a week now..the owner there isn’t making a dime. its costing him to keep the doors open..
the same at the hospital..they let staff go to make budget. put in carpet to fire some employee..I use to run a cleaning crew.. after a comment from head of housekeeping on window washing the year I worked in exchange for the costs of a surgical bill..I put face prints on a couple windows then more and more..tossed a piece of popcorn under a chair to see how fast it would get vacuumed up.. that was in 94.. five years a security guard and I watched that piece of popcorn for five years..every day he would say..dam it I’m going to pick that up..dont.. after I got sick it vanished I did ask his wife about it and she said..he’s claiming the fifth..the face prints..except where they have had new construction they are all still there..I go in once a year just to see a much younger me staring back..
everyone is feeling it.. they are suggesting to the people hired to oversee the needs..unfortunately in the bubble the trials and tribulations of mom and pop .. the kids down the street dont exist for them. like everyone you will ever meet..each has their own battles that none of us know of..
unfortunately they are thinking political alliances not the needs of the people.

    • Why don’t you fess up and give us names so, us subscribers, and us brilliants can help ya?

Why not tell us your biziness, so we can support ya?

Ya gonna let a little humble pie make ya obsolete, aged out, outnumbered, desolate?

      Tell us what ya need?

Let’s join forces, make a difference.

Together, we can do anything. What do you need?

      • Thanks for the offer. We started out 25 or so years ago as just a group of rancher friends who hung out at the cafe after sale barn day. One day as a joke we decided to form an ersatz cartel of sorts and began pooling our resources. This morphed into a group that shared thoughts, experience and equipment to market our livestock. As we aged and found the daily work and expense becoming harder to do without outsourcing labor evolved into a simple marketing plan that of selling directly to individuals, mainly friends and extended family and their contacts. What we did not want to become was another business modeled after Omaha Steaks or Moink. Being the youngest of the group I have retired 3 times from 3 separate careers and decided this is the last one which has made my beautiful wife happy as hell. The others in our group are well into their 80’s and one is approaching 95 this spring. What Lester and I discovered during our visit to one of the processors did not come as a surprise to either of us. It simply saddened us to see the fact that our country has lost its moral compass and while I continue to have hope personally I believe we may have crossed the tipping point.
So to respond to your question, we are not at all concerned about humble pie. As the old song goes, Its Hard To Be Humble When Your Perfect In Every Way. We are far from obsolete, aged out, outnumbered or desolate. We are successful, secure, and following the paths we have chosen without remorse. Again, thanks for the offer. It is appreciated.

        • “It simply saddened us to see the fact that our country has lost its moral compass ”

I believe the moral compass is still there.
take the cabinet factory..for years the employees were buying and selling product. then the boss found out and it came to a halt. employees had to take multiple jobs to survive some sold drugs.. I worked 6 jobs the wife says 8.. lived by an egg timer..
seven days a week year after year..A day of vacation was an 8 -10 hour day.. as benefits fell expenses increased..you will leave with nothing unless your seriously rich..then you will live until its gone..
from what I have seen and experienced is the vast majority are decent people just trying to survive. to find a place that appreciated them and their situation. while company loyalty changed towards their employees..
I worked for one company..it was the one company where I made serious cash… the only place I ever worked where store department heads would break down in tears as they punched out..it was the business model.in my department they had a rule 90 days then make their life miserable until they quit.. I couldn’t do it they made my life miserable.. the reason tax rebates and wage assistance.. hire people in an income bracket.. I quit never set foot in the store and the chain eventually went belly up. A reputation like that goes around ..one of the lowest paying jobs was one that keeps its employees. everyone is family.. I once heard the CEO tell his son.never show off your social position and never drive a car worth more than what your highest paid employee can afford to drive.. the CEO would pick one of his stores and late at night would show up.help the night cleaning staff finish up sit down have coffee and visit..
          what’s changed is corporate attitude..

    • Jim: my fam., each of two spouses, are just two generations off the farm. In the end I ran the sale of my Dad’s Mom’s 40 to support her through to the end. Around here, in the Heartland of USA, we still celebrate farmers. It’d be a hungry world without ’em. BR, Egor

      • Amen to that…. its a great site to see the green or orange going to the field..
a friends father in law.. had to have a heart surgery.. no one would allow it unless he paid up.. the insurance company they had quit handling cases in that zip code..
Finally after bitching and complaining.. the doctor told them.. well I always wanted to own a farm.. and they did get it..
The gentleman living in our spare room has been trying to get health care.. and he is getting it.. its taken quite a bit of bitching.. but they are going to treat him for his cancer.. at first they sent a nice letter asking for the good will prepayment for his upcoming cares.. LOL LOL LOL…
Seen that a lot.. the last gentleman his wife had cancer.. they took his farm and his rental home and his business… to pay for her final cares.. she was a nurse at that hospital.. like myself the minute she got sick they downsized her job so she didn’t have the insurance anymore.. then took everything he had..
Its not a fair world.. we live with what we chose to have.. the business model.. sadly that is the way it really is…

      • the costs on medications is extremely high.. take the inhaler that I am suppose to carry.. LOL… that is six hundred dollars a month in the USA.. but Ten dollars a month in Canada even cheaper in Mexico.. until the open border crises.. the whole community of elderly use to go to southern Arizona and Texas so they could go to Mexico to get their medications and health care treatments..
        It is what it is..

  3. Happy breath day George. Thank you for all you do. Your thoughtfulness and example are helping a lot of ppl.

Oh well there are a couple of others..Mountains and of course Turtles! What do Turtles and Mountains have to do with Longievity? Thinks about its, does the artwork in Ure home represent any of these ancient symbols of Longevtity?

Curiouser and curiouser you bee by the day. By the night ? Forget about it Will Robinson, for AI “vacuum lady” will be There just as soon you start Ure after Life Review. The most beautiful Women/ female angel anyone has ever “seen” comes just as Ure essence is distracted by lifereview images&emotions. That is a description of the inner workings of the Alien AI -Death Traps..”the frequency grid that I snares”

Don’t forget Prisoners..” Only the best tasting tuna gets to be Star kissed”

Have you Eaten some sunlight today, like the GOOD tunic wearing heretic is called to do daily ? It is a most precious gift, indeed. Hope you can enjoy Ure day, I know I will.

    Cheers and many happy returns!

  5. (“beyond the rainfall and water issues, science is still trying to walk the fine line between more food for all via GMO and not putting in the wrong pieces so that long-term diseases explode. Which expresses in media as Plea for moratorium on genetically modified crops due to concerns over health, environment – Telegraph India.”)

See I am torn by that…. saddly it won’t change until the business model changes….
civilization expansion.. was a year ago something like fifty five acres a minute….seeing what they are doing here now.. its picking up speed..My grandson is a construction engineer.. he was telling me they finish a house every three days.. his crew.. each house is on a small lot.. that once was prime farm land..
I just got my tax quote.. they put a third more onto the value.. my taxes are now probably more than what G’s is in the outback of texas per month..
where will it end.. the business model says that that extra hundred and fifty dollars a month has to come from someplace.. Grocery store philosophy says that the first place people cut is in food.. they want to continue on in keeping the things they have .. so they cut in their budget food… all recessions start this way.. until it gets crucial.. then they buy food and cut the extra things that they had.. cut their cable costs or some club membership etc.. something that gave them a quality of life but wasn’t necessary for living.. cell phone.. how many have that small item in their pockets.. that cost about a hudred a month.. many.. We were just talking about this.. to get television here.. you have to have cable.. if not you have to have a seventy foot tower to put an antenna on.. before cell phones.. expanded.. to get cell phone service here.. you had to put on a aluminum foil hat hold onto a coat hanger on a metal rod crawl up on the roof and wave it around until you could get service.. phone lines were such that .. to call outside the town.. you had to have long distance service.. like global crossing etc.. the cost was so high that you couldn’t afford it on an hourly wage.. what we had was a pager.. and a roll of quarters.. two pay phones at a quarter a minute.. someone would call leave a message and number.. and if it was something important I would run over to the payphone…
what do you cut.. to keep what you have going on..
How many decades have I said.. over and over.. Greenscape the cities.. they won’t because it doesn’t fit the business model.. put CO2 filters on every lamp post.. and Air Wells.. so arid regions where five thousand years ago.. they had airwells and cisterns.. today those no longer exist.. and there is a water shortage.. water doesn’t leave it changes form.. strengthen the grid.. hand out ten kw solar power systems… with todays prices.. to equal one of the big wind turbines.. they could probably hand out twenty kw solar power systems to every home owner willing to have one installed.. and build one to two hundred solar towers each that would work as a mini grid system.. strengthen our infrastructure bullet proof our power grid.. it doesn’t fit the business model even though doing that would be cheaper in the long run we would not get rid of the main power generators.. they would always be there just wouldn’t have to produce as much… and non of this will never happen.. heck.. santan solar.. I could get another twelve kw of solar power for about four thousand.. trying to talk the wife into letting me get it.. so far.. nope don’t do it.. LOL LOL LOL LOL for ten grand.. I could get battery backup to LOL LOL LOL LOL silly woman thinks I am obsessed LOL LOL LOL or possessed LOL LOL
I get the GMO… gmo seeds produce bigger crops.. as we expand we needed better crop producing grains.. its a trade off.. but keeps to the business model..

How many decades have I said.. over and over.. Greenscape the cities.. they won’t because it doesn’t fit the business model.. put CO2 filters on every lamp post..
      _________________________________
LOOB, I find connection to most of what you speak of here. What I don’t get is the CO2 fear that so many climate change people and now you demonstrate. It is the essential gas for growing all those food plants we are charged so much for at the market.
What the hell is the thinking here. It comprises less than 2% of the atmosphere. We exhale our own CO2 and keep the oxygen to live. The plant world inhales the CO2 for their life and releases the oxygen back out. SYMBIOSIS! All good!
The kook “scientists” are hatching a plan to clear cut huge acreages of trees and digging a hole to just bury them in order to “capture” the carbon content and keep it from escaping to the atmosphere. The fools think this THEORY is so worthy and environmentally sound that they want to impose it around the planet. Other “scientists” are experimenting with ocean water blown up into the clouds to “make them more reflective. Thus saving us from the effects of sunlight.
But, CO2 is no enemy of the planet and ultimately, in the humanity loop, it is an essential friend.

      • The CO2 fear isn’t really an issue right now..its a future concern..in endless expansion and a large population we,are not only eliminating farm land with concrete and asphalt. fossil fuels I personally love them coal is a favorite for me..great power from coal simple for the changes to be made making it cleaner and increasing the power output..
anyway there’s a need to compensate for the expansion .. seven trees per person and fourteen trees per car. A co2 filter on every lamppost would be the same filtration of a small wood lot on each post..
although it won’t compensate for the clear cutting ..for that proper wood lot management is needed.sadly the business model effects that.
there was a contest once that I entered so far I see a lot of the things I suggested being used but similar to the contests of the doe etc. I see them being used and not even a cup of coffee..i have since quit answering back my thoughts on challenges.. ..In time nature will take care of most of the issues if they act responsibly.. not getting away from fossil fuels but embracing the future while using the past technologies. most people are using 25 kW a day or more we use about 50.. our solar produces 34 – 37 handing out grid tied solar sets to home owners would reduce the demand considerably of the demands on fossil fuels all while strengthening the the countries national security from a potential collapsed energy system..building solar towers would make it bulletproof. the USA can’t do it alone for the planet but once the trend starts others will follow. waiting to long is what I call the jaw breaker in the microwave syndrome the sun heats up the earth as a solar collector. as the waters warm sediments from deep below begin to emission of methane and CO2 ..you will see weather changes and more volcanic activity..
the theorized events in the cataclysm of the earth is basically the earth is a top with a magnetic core a magnetosphere that protects us from radiation..
in the studies done in cataclysms of the earth is as the polar caps melt.. the weight displacement is offset and the top wobbles.. there’s what six or seven poles.. one of which is the Bermuda triangle ..
the theory is the earth poles change and re-establishes its magnetic fields..to cleanse the earth a new ice age and an extinction event happens. what is it they think we are in the beginning stages of an extinction event.. and mankind is on the list..our carpenter ant mentality is with the assumption that it can’t happen to us..kind of like sawing off the branch your sitting on.
to many have put their whole lives embracing the business model of gaining a number. can it be changed..I don’t think so unfortunately we have to let the cycle happen. we can make the changes needed for food .. I know no one will understand this..but the trials we put north Korea through.the starvation and the medical issues had them Struggling..the results they are the leading authorities on hydroponics.. the same with Taiwan they are working on green scaping.. huge buildings.. china and their beautiful water gardens what I wouldn’t give to see them work beside them get a first hand experience of the processes they use.
As a country we should be embracing CO2 Reduction..expanding our crop production and I don’t know about you but we use electricity everywhere in our home..I have the hand use tools but seriously.. beating grain into a crude gruel flour in an old cast iron pan is not fun.. the same with hand cranking grain for its oils.. give me the electric oil expeller any time..
screw the business model..the business model is our greatest weakness..

      • This is all true UNLESS you’re expecting an influx of off-planet aliens who are allergic to carbon and prefer to dine on insects. Thus decimating or eliminating the human population and altering the makeup of our atmosphere to accommodate the preferences of our new rulers makes perfect sense.

    • GMO does not produce bigger crop yields long term. Please take a closer look beyond the Monsanto propaganda. Remember, Monsanto/Bayer are not in business to feed the world; they are in business to enrich the company & its execs. Once farmers start spraying Roundup (glyphosate) the soil begins to degrade, which means more fertilizers and minerals must be added to the soil, which dramatically increases farming costs. Farmers who work with nature instead of fighting it with lab creations improve the quality of their land, and produce larger yields of more nutritious crops.

      • Not bigger crops but higher yield with some.. modifying it with the tobacco plants etc gives it a better protection from pests..
        https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/gmo-pros-and-cons
the drawback is long term exposure to the chemical changes..
gmo changes travel to and many similar crops of non gmo find the genetic modifications have been adopted by the non gmo crops..

  6. (“Housing
We are starting to see homelessness become a “policy bulldozer” which – in turn – will drive taxes going forward: “)

I just got my tax assessment yesterday.. my taxes are going up another hundred and fifty bucks a month.. Low income apartment rent.. went up two hundred a month…. just the rent on a low income apartment is nine hundred dollars.. she gets a thousand. I haven’t heard from the grand daughter with four children a non supportive ex.. her rent is twenty five hundred a month plus all the extra expenses.. she makes fifteen dollars an hour.. a good wage for the wastelands..I have been trying to convince her to move to an eco village that I would personally love to live in.. but its landing on deaf ears… So considering that.. how does she make a car payment car insurance.. food electricity gas .. she gets water and trash with the apartment rent.. the grand daughter has to pay for it.. my water and sewer bill is one of our highest.. we pay what forty dollars for garbage a month.. and it is going up one third.. got the notice yesterday as well about the power company meeting.. ( my bet is that is going up to.. )
the same with the young woman across the street.. how do you make it.. to compensate you have to cut someplace else.. services that normally you wouldn’t be able to afford.. the fat lady is going to sing.. even now.. walk into a grocery store and just look at the contents of the baskets.. not only the contents of the baskets but how full they are.. less essential groceries.. more junk food high fiber less nutrition .. even with us.. we have added more pasta or rice to the foods.. the other is beyond our expenses.. less fruit.. etc.. it is what it is..

    https://youtu.be/bxuXBf76wkA?si=xPL2fD15BJI4yv-U

The other thing this will bring about.. is the FLIP… people only want to provide a few groceries.. live simply..
(“Politics is history in the making. History itself is the presentation of the course of a Folk’s struggle for existence.
I deliberately use the phrase struggle for existence here because, in truth, that struggle for daily bread, equally in
peace and war, is an eternal battle against thousands upon thousands of resistances, just as life itself is an eternal
struggle against death. For men know as little why they live as does any other creature of the world. Only life is
filled with the longing to preserve itself. The most primitive creature knows only the instinct of the self
preservation of its own, in creatures standing higher in the scale it is transferred to wife and child, and in those
standing still higher to the entire species. While, apparently, man often surrenders his own instinct of self”)
Adolph .. just think about that quote from his second secret book..
    https://ia802204.us.archive.org/16/items/HitlerZweitesBuchENGLISH/HitlerZweitesBuchENGLISH.pdf
and the books on the rise and fall of civilizations.. as they push to sustain themselves with political alignments.. they fail to see or act of the needs of the people..
this opens the door to someone that is willing to address the needs of the general population.. the let them eat cake group.. when hussein took over in Iraq.. they thought that their political alignments could save them.. in France.. it was the people that flipped.. what is funny about it all.. is those in charge could have made the necessary changes.. stop the fat lady from singing.. they chose to politically align themselves and ignore the needs of those they represented.. the same thing in Russia and the Romanov family.. on his side though he did make an attempt .. but he him hawed about making the changes.. needed.. until it was to late..
NOW.. it cost them dearly.. its the same thing here.. we have the nobelmen that could deal with the issues of the day.. close the borders.. look out for home instead we send what the people need here to somewhere else.. lost to the us.. then tell the people here… well suck it up butter cup.. deal with it.. if you don’t like it.. then eat cake..
gas went up twenty cents in one day.. it had gone up ten cents the day before.. the thought I have is we had a years worth we could pump into the market.. from the strategic reserves.. they didn’t refill the reserves.. and now the year is about over.. so fuel.. will it tripple as suspected.. with the fat lady be singing then.. think of costs on goods and delivery of goods..

    • Try to help grand daughter create a business.

She has to find a way to mark-up what little free time comes her way. There’s a lot of posters posting here, get the team on it.

Personally I have a paid off house because over time I’ve used the primary residence capital gains exemption to my advantage.

“You can sell your primary residence and avoid paying capital gains taxes on the first $250,000 of your profits if your tax-filing status is single, and up to $500,000 if married and filing jointly. The exemption is only available once every two years.”

      – Dec 14, 2023

      • I didn’t know that her husband just vanished and never even considered giving her anything for the care of the kids.. by the time I found out she was three months behind had gotten her eviction notice and was thinking of moving all four kids into a camper… If she had told me.. I wouldn’t have let anyone come live in our spare bedrooms.. I would have easily had her and the kids move in.. but heck how do you shove out the door a homeless man missing a leg and suffering from a disease. ( cancer) or another one that has dementia.. ( his dementia isn’t nearly as bad as the one dude LOL) but it is still there.. I was going to let her move the camper in… then they stay at the house the only thing they would have to use the camper for is sleeping.. Luckily her aunt and I was able to get the situation turned around.. The cost of a business is beyond my ability to do it.. I do remember making mirrors and such with my plate making skills.. actually dug that stuff out..it got me through the early eighties.. what I didn’t find yet is my halftone sheet LOL

        • Come on LotB,

Set up a go fund me page for the young lady. Shame the SCHEISSE out father and in-laws in Ure write up description of the spineless POS. You should put a BTC address in there as well, for crypto donations..post the link here in body of your comments..network that Scheisse and let’s see what the F happens.

C’mon Man! Killing me, just killing me..

        • I am with you on him being a POS…
I will look I to the go fund me..I never even thought of that lol lol..
my fear was her leaning to the dark side to make the necessary living expenses..
I send a few bucks every month to a young woman that was forced and human trafficked..
they grabber her I believe when she was 12 or 13 I’ve heard some of the stories..they put her in jail because she refused to give testimony out of fear that they would go threw with their threats. that’s actually how we became friends..she was beaten severely and I got a call from a doctor to get permission to treat her she had tried to escape moved to another state and they found her.. she had me down as an emergency contact. her being in prison actually broke the binds though.she’s now getting older ..they did go after her sibling sister trying to get her into drugs.. luckily I knew someone that could get her into treatment.

        • “I didn’t know that her husband just vanished and never even considered giving her anything for the care of the kids..”
-You have mentioned this, a couple of times.., and I have wondered why no one has gotten just wee bit grumpy about that. There are many organizations that will, for free, track down “missing” fathers., most state social / child services will do the same, though are much slower., and then sue the errant bastard for all the back support he never paid.
Why hasn’t she done this? What’s the hang-up? If she can prove he is the father – go after him. With a vengeance.

        • (“I have wondered why no one has gotten just wee bit grumpy about that.”)

they have..his father wrote him off years ago. he thought meeting my grand daughter was the event that would straighten him up.. and I didn’t know about his past until it was to late.
he is self employed..so the wastelands couldn’t garnish his income..
I heard that they are searching for him but don’t know to much about it..
I hear he also has more children and is. and a considerable sum for the back child support… I knew about one..actually was in Wal-Mart shopping and this little girl comes running up to me to give me a huge hug..

  7. Here’s to another year of fair winds and following seas, sailor! [just don’t look aft, remain focused on the pointy end] Happy birthday Sir! ~ /)/) ~~ Egor

ps – a tip: at your advanced age (to which I aspire) switch to small jars of Mayo and no green bananas matey (as if, them being bad luck onboard)

  8. My “Carnac The Magnificent” -[ Aggregate Index ] is telling me nothing at the moment. The S&P500 chart is., what’s the word? – Wonky. It seems that 5,000 has turned into a psychological support level [ couldn’t possibly be on price / value., could it ?] and there is very little resistance to the up-side., and the MACD is still pointing ‘Up’.
I had one trade all week., jumped-in at the close Monday for a drop Tuesday – did very well., but the rest of the week did not perform as I expected., so I sat on the side lines.
“When there is no clear direction and the enemy is all around you – sometimes it’s best to just hunker down and wait for them to make the next move – being prepared to act no matter which way the chess pieces shuffle around the board. Let them show what they are thinking.”
    .., and so – here I wait.
I have an older Strayer-Voigt double stack 1911 to rebuild today. Striped it down last night – nothing obvious stood out. Very good pistol. May just need a parts-bath and new springs. Barrel looks great – so he doesn’t use it very much. We’ll see…..,
    .., “Stay Frosty !”

    • My big firearms lesson? Going to hydrashock or hollow points after a 25-pound possum took 3 rounds from my 9 mm last night and still managed escape while bleeding out.
Anyone got suggestions on best one-and-done rounds for possums and coons? AK is too loud and does too much damage close in on the porch…

      • 9mm
Federal Premium 147gr jacketed hollow-point HST and Winchester 147gr jacketed hollow point.., both are excellent rounds. [ Federal HST does have a slightly higher rating.]
Don’t expect a one-n-done on a coon, or opossum., they are extremely tough critters and can take a real beating and keep going. [ Unless you get in a head-shot. ]

        • Agreed. Shot placement is important but more dense mass targets will demand more than 2 or 3 rounds. Always train for 3 rounds. I carried .40 but after retirement down here the main concern is feral hogs. .45 230 gr HP will suffice but recoil may take some adjustment.

      • No Possum here. Coon medicine instant relief is three bladed from a compound. Bleed-out is a firework display. Alternative is a 375 H&H 300gr. Barnes H frame, result has no compare to fireworks display and great fertilizer spreader. Try some.

      • I have the same problem with marmots. I’m thinking of going the “other direction” with .17 HMR or .17 WSM.

I’ve heard from a couple of people who claim to have seen .17 HMR take out a coyote at 100 yards. Any further and it doesn’t have the energy left. They also say to only use the ammo with 17 grain bullets. The 20 grain are too heavy and don’t have the necessary speed for the destructive effect needed.

      • Poor Ms. Pogo. The big adult possums will make threat displays, but aren’t particularly dangerous. When the wind blows up in the sub-tropical rain forest canopy, the critters who normally never touch the ground come down to visit. When I was renting a house on the coast with giant East Texas pine trees in the back yard, I had a mama possum about the same size as the one you mixed it up with who would come down and get into it with my 100 lb thoroughbred mutt, on stormy nights. She was too big for the dog to handle, so they would sit at the back of the lot and hiss and bark at each other, in the Cajun version of a Mexican stand-off, usually at 2 AM. I would handle it by dragging the dog away, and let mom make her exit. I was rewarded once or more a year when she would drop a litter of a dozen or more joeys with the little hissing critters hanging by their tails from the eaves of the house.
Cold Steel has a two-handed machete which is economical, and sharpens up nicely. Boar spears can be handy. Big and sharp is the traditional measure for close-in work. I favor a cotton hoe with a good edge. Maybe LOOB has a recipe.

      • .410 with #6 shot, to the head. At least one of those pellets will bounce around and find his brain. Also won’t do too much damage to the wooden deck (other than the bloody mess).

      • G: Put me down for a S&W 22LR, big optics, with varmint loads (three “petals”). You can make holes in raccoons and possums head to tail but … several taps in the head make an end. Quick, humane, effective. Sez me, E

      • Unless your going to eat it ..I would just put up ultrasonic pest repellers.. make a place for them to relocate..

did I mention boo wasn’t done in by the elevator cats lol took the dog out the other day and there boo was just like normal..I have to put straw in the old cage..
I was so shocked and yes it was still playing peek a boo..the dogs know who it is to one of them seem to care lol..

  9. if you ever get a chance to watch that movie Milk Money George, man i tell ya. that picture you posted a while back of when ya met E at the yaght club she looks just like the blonde in that movie.

    really good movie.

i have the same back pack.

    hahah

  10. FYI: that is how ya get birthdays dude.

Like a modern day columbus, in 1978, Brian May wrote his disertation after he discovered

its what makes the world go round.

  11. re: RSVP to the Front
    feat: Cue the Lady

    Folks,

Please offer up an ovation to a fine lady of song who today brings us the Ukraine national anthem whose title translates to English as follows:
    “Ukraine Has Not Yet Perished”.

Comic and President of the Ukraine has complimented the Washington Administration. The BBC is reporting that Mr. Zelensky will proceed himself to the frontlines if Mr. Trump accepts an invitation to accompany him. What? Is Mr. Biden too busy?

Happy Birthday, Mr. Ure. Don’t let DJ George get too rowdy with the tunes!

  12. how is me?

    oh you know George….

im still on the mountain. havent left yet. doesnt mean i wont at some point. could pack and be on ~ The Way ~ monday. riding in style.

i was chatting with Elon via messanger on X this morning. He says he is a big fan of mine.

i said, im not sure why? im not a rocket scientist.

im over here standing in the kitchen chanting Om into my coffee cup having a ponder about life.

happy birthday George. i didnt forget.

    :)

    • Well, that’s just circular as shit, buddy. I’m a fan of Elon, Elon’s a fan of yours, and you’re a fan of mine. Danged.
Did you save all those ideas for Musk I’ve written up and send ’em along? I’ve forgotten some of them now – age related information overload. As the pyramid gets bigger, the search speed slows down…

      • dude, im just trying to get the gps on a blonde like that and get her numbers. wine me dine me and i be spun, won and done.

        yes sir. 100%

      • Legacy media is dead or dying…empire must maintain control of the messages..

Gee how do you think they are going to maintain or get back control???????

Follow Ure news nose, it always knows (eventually) the smell of rotten Scheisse where it be spoiling, in this case Social..duh-ohhhh.

That wasn’t hard, now was it Baabaas?

In terms of global herd mgt, 75 is getting up there, wonder what ROP (Return On Prisoner) is down here versus just putting Ure SOUL in some “slaveforce” automaton to go fight alien “bugz” on some other dog foresaken planet in this hellacious galaxy we call the milky way..hmmmmm

  13. My go to night time critter eliminater is my side by side Bakail 410 3″ shells #4 shot. 2 quick shots and no worries about ricochet or errant rounds breaking a neighbors window.
Would be a great birthday present from the Misses, you know home protection and all.
I’ll have a couple extra beers tomorrow in your honor fine sir. cheers.

  14. (“And have you noticed how it is with a total lack of honesty that we see stories like Transportation Secretary Buttigieg to visit Maui amid wildfire recovery efforts? Exsqueeze me? The Department of Trans (so to speak) has bigger fish to fry than toning up tans in Hawaii, I’d think. Problems to the MAX in many other areas, if you follow”)

So did the butt boy I mean buttleg oh hell the moron with vacationing priorities.. even stopped in Ohio yet?
last I read they are still waiting.. but they did ask them to donate for ukraine and the illegal refugees..
it looks like there’s a serious lack of priorities..

  15. “But, beyond the rainfall and water issues, science is still trying to walk the fine line between more food for all via GMO”

Meijer is selling house-brand granola-esque health/energy bars that are made in Canada (no-GM crap) and cereals that are made in Italy (where GM foods aren’t welcome). Campbells has come out with two lines of (not condensed) soup which don’t carry their GMO “Bioengineered” warning, so I’m hopeful. (ALL Campbell’s and Progresso condensed soups and Campbell’s “Hearty” soups are now frankenfood.) Annie’s and Pacific’s (really weak selection of) organic soups are beginning to get old already.

It is utterly amazing, how many of the brand name foods –even (or especially) the ones purported to be healthy, are now frankenfood. It is getting so I have to read the damn’ labels on every trip to the grocer’s…

  16. “Maybe because I explained that door-to-door sales is not what you do in East Texas where the “next door” is a quarter mile away – and people want a phone call and appointment first.”

It is impossible to explain to coasties who’ve been sheltered from all but the coastie lifestyle for six generations, that “Hello, the FIRE” is what you yell when you strive to not have unfriendly FIRE sent in your direction. Same with “Hello, the house” (or just plain “hello? Is anyone home?”) I do not visit family or friends without a phone call, even though most of them aren’t heeled. I sureashell wouldn’t walk in on any stranger (or mere acquaintance) unannounced. It’s bad manners, and bad manners, damn’ near anywhere between the Sierras and the Appalachians, can still sometimes get you shot.

    • G.A. STEWART: I have been suggesting boycotts as a method to bring the Corporatocracy to its knees, and thus the government which it buys. The Budlight boycott proved this to be a viable method of rebellion without bullets. My favorite was a boycott of professional and college sports. It is high-profile, and it would be felt immediately; however, I think the truckers are coming up with a better idea…

“New York City, no more soup for you.”

      https://theageofdesolation.com/nostradamus/2024/02/18/the-free-city-of-liberty-enslaved/

      • A boycott of college and pro sports wouldn’t even be noticed, for years.

Where all these college and professional sports companies (and they are companies) make their money is from television contracts, which are negotiated, sometimes 10 years in advance. Empty seats and few merch sales are going to put vendors and janitors in the unemployment lines. It won’t touch the teams or their money backers for several years. ‘Might put the hurt on ABC, CBS, and FOX though as advertising dollars dry up…

I don’t like the idea of boycotting a niche luxury.

I very much like the idea of boycotting a region that’s being destroyed by the people who’re running it, though. THAT gets the attention of the 85% of couch potatoes who don’t really notice much of anything, and might motivate them to learn something about the people for whom they’ve voted, before they vote for them again…

    • When (not ‘if’) the truckers starve out NYC, perhaps they can eat illegal immigrants. Texas can always send more.

  17. “as a democrat-supporting judge slaps Trump with the go broke card. Judge Engoron fines Trump more than $350M, bars him from running businesses in N.Y. for 3 years”

Um, this is the same judge who “determined” Mar-a-Lago was “worth $18 million.” (In the real world, a person couldn’t buy the tennis courts for 18mil…)

Were I Trump I’d take my 6, 8, 10, 20 billion, or whatever it is, out of the New York tax basis — relocate Trump Tower to Pennsylvania and get all Trump properties TFO of NY.

    • No orange jesus for PA, thanks.
We got enough jews already, in fact one too many..see gov, yes he is standing up.

    • I believe that is what they are trying to do.. take away the social position he has had his whole life.. destroy him at an age that he isn’t able to rebuild what he has now..what they didn’t count for was DJT is a scrapper he will go down fighting..
What I am curious about.. is its pretty obvious that we are in the civilization death throws if we go by what has happened in past civilizations.. we cannot repay our debt.. I have one of those trillion dollar coins .. it was the obama but now I think it is the biden coin LOL..

      https://youtu.be/NQCRG4DU_P8?si=ZrZzFFOTEauoLAuv

so Why hasn’t can’t touch this the Kid not moved out of the USA yet. Hell I would have left a long time ago instead of waving it in everyones faces making his point that there is a dual standard and mr. see no evil, hear no evil, and say no evil is doing everything they can to cover over it all LOL LOL LOL its really quite comical if you think about it……

      https://youtu.be/otCpCn0l4Wo?si=qs5IoB0X9O1ZWk5f

God I would laugh so hard if he came in with baggy red pants to congress We already know not one thing will come of any of this..LOL LOL LOL we have already been told that if he does get convicted there is a presidential pardon waiting…. its a waste of time and money…LOL LOL LOL although you have to see the humor in it when he walks up to a microphone and does the can’t touch this.. speech LOL

or the old man.. have them build him a home in another country.. or get the family to a safer place.. when the big flip comes.. it have never played out well for the family or them.. which is what I hadn’t considered about the nanny of the romanov family coming with a little girl.. saying it was the princess.. she got that one to safety.. it wasn’t Anastasia though since they found Anastasia’s body.. it was probably her little girl that she got to safety..

  18. Happy B’day, George and thanks for all you do for us wannabe hillbillies day after day all year long.

  19. For your 9mm possum round, load 90-grain .380 bullets in the 9mm at about 1300-1350 fps. The thinner bullet jacket and higher speed should produce a rather devastating, non-over-penetrating wound channel. GF

  20. Happy Birthday … a day late!! (though at our ages bdays aren’t a big thing anymore imo) I am sure you had a marvelous dinner and a great relaxing evening with Elaine, may the world shine favorably upon both of you during the upcoming year.
