Welcome to a pseudo-holiday.  Got a bone to pick, though, if you think “holidays” are a good idea.

The notion of a “holiday” stems (we read over here) from Holy Days. But, like so much else about cultural wisdom and belief sets, it has all been corrupted.

“A holiday is a day or other period of time set aside for festivals or recreation. Public holidays are set by public authorities and vary by state or region. Religious holidays are set by religious organisations for their members and are often also observed as public holidays in religious majority countries. Some religious holidays, such as Christmas, have become secularised by part or all of those who observe them. In addition to secularization, many holidays have become commercialised due to the growth of industry.”

Even the “holiness” of ancient religious holidays has been perverted.  As Chris Tyreman explained in his book The Destruction of the Sabbath (with Brad Vornholt) early religions got word from “on high” that humans are clocked to the Moon cycles.

However, since religions are quite competitive, when other ancient cultures wanted to impose a different agenda, rather than attack the religious underpinnings of cyclical holidays, they did things like change the calendar around.

Which brings us to this morning’s first deal point: Abe Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809.  George Washington’s actual birthday February 22, 1732.  Which shows to go you” how – over even the relatively short length of our nation’s existence, politicians and related slime, couldn’t even keep their ego’s bottled up long enough to keep the actual birthdays honest.  Like Vornholt and Tyreman’s work on how the moon-clocked “day of rest” was corrupted, too.

If you can’t respect a holiday, then why respect gender and race, huh?

How many proofs do you need?

  • Interest continues to compound, so obligations continue to mount.
  • There’s no “day off from paying rent, electric, power.
  • And even the mail won’t be delivered today…with a huge asterisk.

That is? Money Rules Holidays.  We expect there will be Amazon deliveries, George2 (now Shriner George) will be dispensing rescues, Band-Aids and medical referrals on his bigly server farm build at time-and-a-half. And the bald-faced media will continue dispensing fear to keep us all in line.

I read about this fellow once who kicked a bunch of money changers out of a temple.  Unfortunately for him (and other followers of Creator/Universe), the poison, greed, and dissatisfaction has been locked in code and it would be too much work to return to a more forthright way of dealing with remembrance events.

Best we can do is label it “A Day of Economic Convenience.”  And even that’s a weak one.  There’s no particular music associated with this “Observance.”  A scam to take time off for public workers, but do our taxes get the day off? Hell no.

Is this what’s wrong with the world? Are we living in a world of people set-upon one another for personal gain?

Future School 101

It’s not too hard telling the Future.  In fact, there’s a kind of personal bandwidth range across which it – forward seeing – can be done.  At one extreme is the “deep prayer” route. Meditation, some use of medication by others.  You work to quiet the mind and accept the world for what it is.  Which when done in a non-judgy way, let’s you listen (kinda like SETI) down into the noise floor of the Universe.

Another way of “getting at future” is to use data.  Tons, gobs, and oodles of data.  Because I’m too stupid to write good code, I can’t launch a fine fleet of web bots to scour social media (and forums/fora) before that.  No, but what I can do because of a quirk in my head, is visualize thin data as an indicator of what may come, as well.

On Friday, the market looked like it would be a shoo-in for a good-sized decline tomorrow.  But something – and I’ll explain what in a second – was niggling at my brain.  “Look for the downside gap between the U.S. Market and Rest of World to close.  Because if it does, there will be no penalty of lost potential gains for waiting in cash over the long weekend.”

Well, sure enough. As this snip from an updated chart that compares the U.S. Aggregate Index (*red trace) with the Rest of World (RoW) which is the blue trace, with a green trend directional indicator (green trace) around a central axis (gray line), we can see that with declines overseas and overnight, for now, it’s looking like the “tradeable gap” between the US and Elsewhere is closing today.

In fact, we will get additional cues when the blue (Rest of World) opens ahead of the American open (red) tomorrow.  The FSture is a lot of fun to study, especially when you realize there are linked “knock-on” effects to where causes and effect ripple ahead, just as the bow wave on a great Titanic world blundering along toward a cooling future.

This doesn’t mean the market will open level tomorrow morning, but it’s a present moment shift to the idea that we might get a better entry point for a short side play after the market opens tomorrow.

As always, this is NOT financial advice.  On the other hand, though, now that the “last bear has capitulated (as our consigliere is no longer puking at the thought of Bitcoin) a top that we called as probably in with the KC Chiefs win, remains alive and kicking.

Less though is said about how the Oval teen is handling his opposition. Because the dems instead of beating Trump to death, seem to only want to kill his chances of running while the War Party ramps up larger wars. Ukrainian official: Navalny’s death shows ‘Putin is the ultimate evil’.

There are likely enough damaging contents in the “control files” of most republicans that RINO voting to fund wars and keep the border open is no coincidence. McConnell running for reelection is his decision to make amid ‘bad blood’ with Trump: Ted Cruz.

So, how could this political garbage truck of media coverage get any more trashy? Supreme Court is About to Put ‘Stake in the Heart’ of Jack Smith’s Case Against Trump. Just remember, in the District of Corruption everyone has a control file. And as we learned from Donald Trump, the contents of the “opposition research” doesn’t even need to be true.  Not in a world where the press has control files, too, right?

    there was more than just attacking the calendar..The interpretations perversions of the written laws of the creator.. That is one reason that the whole middle east couldn’t not come together.. all religious teachings come from the same initial source its the interpretations that they made to fit the business model of the day… Similar to our Constitution and Bill of Rights.. the politicians of today have been working hard to Nulify the Constitution and dilluting the bill of rights.. the Religious leaders of the ancient civilizations were the political leaders of the day..

    Federal and govt employees.. regular workers don’t even get the 4th of july off LOL LOL for almost forty years I bitched because I never had a holiday off LOL couldn’t take vacation because vacations don’t exist in a real working world.. LOL LOL LOL I worked at a hospital that hires point what ever I was a point five.. which meant that they guaranteed me five working days every two weeks.. and the rule of the hospital is you have to work your weekend.. LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL..
    so if you took a week off.. you still got your five days.. no vacation pay LOL LOL LOL
    in the end I was giving away eighty hours a year to people that get really sick.. they fire your butt if you get sick.. so the insurnace is gone and they can take everything LOL LOL LOL like my last guy living with us.. his wife got cancer was insured through the hospital.. they fired her lost her insurance.. they took his farm his rental home all his belongings.. just to pay for her final cares. LOL LOL LOL
    its the business model.. LOL when I got sick.. my wife also had a minor stroke.. as a nurse.. they let her go the very next witch hunt season.. and all the rest of the higher paid employees.. she was there twenty years.. just to get me off of their health insurance..
    Govt.. work for their next day off.. LOL LOL one of my doctors gets sixteen weeks of vacation LOL LOL LOL LOL… split it with the federal holidays he can almost double that LOL LOL LOL LOL…

Germany is only one example.. france, russia every civilization that has had major structural changes in govt.. did exactly the same thing.. the ones that were viewed as heros were the ones that had their privilaged positions and then used them .. there are quite a few.. but one well known one was schindler .
          Now if they had said.. I am not sure what my son has been doing in business.. I love my kids and I pray for them to make the right choices.. he would have come off as a loving father that had no control over a drug addicted son.. the kid would have had to do some time.. no one in the world would give a hoot.. and trust me when I say this.. the world is watching all of this..

          the combined experiences helped develop my character. taught me things I would never had had to do..the friends I made the experiences have enriched my personal perspective.
          if it isn’t part of your life’s experiences you don’t know..you assume from what you read or hear but the actual life experience isn’t part of your personal knoweledge.
          I had a good govt. job quit and went down the other Rocky path over my moral and ethical guidelines..

  7. Yesterday something told me to listen to Bob… Zimmerman, not Marley. Grabbed ‘The Times They Are A Changin’. Holy crap! He is a prophet and a messenger in a time machine. One after another the songs told the tale of where we didn’t want to be yet still ended up there. ‘The Ballad of Hollis Brown, The Times They Are A Changin’, With God On Our Side, Only A Pawn In Their Game, The Lonesome Death Of Hattie Carrol, all cried out to me in a way I haven’t had all put together like that in a long time. When I was young in the 60’s these songs were anthems of the movement to end war, poverty, and injustice. Seems we failed to heed the warnings.

  9. It’s also lent where people give up something for God. Mostly candy (not sugar) so they can lose weight. It makes them feel deprived and anxious, and angry at God for making them give up something, as well as guilty if they fail or self righteous if they succeed.

    God doesn’t care but giving up something can be a good exercise in self control. Can you give up alcohol or vinegar potato chips or McDonald’s or sex for a few weeks? I knew a novice nun who had to give up music for an entire year because her advisor thought she loved it more than God. A whole year. Would you still love it after a year or always feel guilty listening to it?

    President’s Day doesn’t require you to make special food or hang out flags or go see a parade. As far as I know there isn’t even a special song. It’s a good day to sleep in and go out for lunch with friends.

    I would guess that if he’s stupid enough to run, he’ll be primaried by a Rand Paul backed candidate. Rich Mitch is the most-powerful Senator and has a nearly $100mln warchest he can throw toward candidates he likes (like when he purchased Lisa Murkowski’s seat for her in ’20) or against candidates he doesn’t like. Paul held his nose and his tongue, and supported Mitch the last time around. I don’t believe he will do so in the upcoming election, and I don’t believe McConnell will live long enough to futz up Paul’s next election…

    This was in one of my primary school history books, and is about the only thing I remember from either elementary or secondary school history classes. Now that I look back on those years, there IS this nagging thought the school system had an audition every year, and allowed that primary school history had to be boring, and in secondary school, only the most boring teachers qualified to teach history or government classes…

  21. Now they’re starting to add new holidays just to celebrate political victories (whether legitimately won or not). One more day of no mail, no government services, etc. and a paid day off for bureaucrats.

    I guess we would need a constitutional amendment to limit the number of government holidays, so that won’t happen. Or, people need to be more careful about who they vote for– whoops, now I’m getting into fantasy territory.

    Western msm has noted a passing last week a day before Valentine’s Day in southern Spain. Apparently the Russian pilot who defected with an M-8 helicopter to Ukraine in the special military action is understood now deceased in the Spanish holiday haven. His wife and family were said to have been extricated from Russia prior to the defection.

    Lenta, a Russian online newspaper, published a story with details from Ukrainian “Pravda”. The tragic event had taken place in Vilajoyosa (Joyful Town?) after the decedent had allegedly reached out to a former girlfriend in Russia to come and join him in Spain.

    Lenta is a subsidiary to a large Russian media company which in turn is owned by Sberbank. The latter’s ceo and 1990’s colleague of President Putin was married in the Throne Room of Peterhof Palace in St. Petersburg. The palace was commissioned by Peter the Great some 300 years ago. Sberbank is said to be majority-owned by the Russian National Wealth Fund. Its revenue from oil income funds Russian pensions as well as national budget deficits…

    China’s CGTN has published an interview with a top Chinese AI academic. Apparently there are concerns in China of “sleepness nights” following the release of Sora by Microsoft-backed OpenAI. Sora can create short videos from text. Will “Urbansurvival” printed text be reformatting to a new 3D video presentation? Don’t touch that channel selector on your remote just yet!

  25. Well the UltraMake content and comments come back with a blank page, so I’ll drop this here. Finally got into my power distro box with the Power Factor meter. Ye Gads! My pf is .86 and .70 on the two legs. Switching in my existing 3uf caps only added a point or two to those readings. I’m out here near the end of the string on a small grid for the island so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. Clearly I need bigger capacitors. Spent the afternoon learning and calculating kVAR and determining what size capacitors I need. Of course they come from China, so it will be a month before they get here. Stay tuned.
