CPI and “Digital Bank Runs”?

I suppose we should begin this morning’s roll by unveiling the new Consumer Price report just out from Labor:

“The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) rose 0.4 percent in October on a seasonally adjusted basis, the same increase as in September, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased 7.7 percent before seasonal adjustment.

The index for shelter contributed over half of the monthly all items increase, with the indexes for gasoline and food also increasing. The energy index increased 1.8 percent over the month as the gasoline index and the electricity index rose, but the natural gas index decreased. The food index increased 0.6 percent over the month with the food at home index rising 0.4 percent.”

Drill-down view:

We would remind you of the “thinking points” around this data:

  • The Fed has conditioned markets to expect a 1/2 percent increase from their December meeting.  Which will feature a rate pronouncement December 14.
  • Equally important will be the Fed’s “Summary of Economic Projections.”  Out at the same time.
  • The Social Security benefit increase was (only) 8.7 percent.  (It’s based on comparison of Q3 average CPI-W CPI figures. 8.746 percent is how it pencils out, but the government rounds – which saves them a lot of money over time…)
  • Finally comes the personal economic option planning at year’s end.  Those personal “sweat equity plans and projects for ’23” we can all cobble up to live “better than average” despite the data and the perpetual clown convention in D.C.

We live in an interesting stew of wildly exacerbated technology bubbles on the one hand and the capitulation of centuries-long value chains on the other.

The answer to “What could go wrong?” is immediately ahead.

“Digital Bank Runs”?

My consigliere and I spent some time yesterday gaming-out how the (now arriving) crypto currency bubble collapse will work out.

On the one hand, he argues that Crypto will not play a sufficient role of “savings destruction” to accomplish enough debt repudiation to reset fiat economies to sound levels.

At its peak, remember, Bitcoin was worth (per Coinbase data) $68,990.90 and that auspicious event coincided with our Aggregate Index (generally, the stock market) all-time high on November 8, 2021.  With a limit of 21-million, we can see BTC’s total possible influence on the global economy amounted to $1.449 trillion.

However, since crypto’s are “made up” money – with nothing of value behind them – perhaps the case could be made that globally Crypto might be a $3 trillion floating craps game.

Just to compare size, as of September, Siblis Research pegged U.S. stock market size at $46,460,463.2 million.

Our conversation Wednesday dealt with the “steam pressure relief” concept (that I advocate) and his “not big enough to be effective” position.

Where we seem to have common ground is viewing the present ongoing collapse in crypto as being as much a “human herding” phenomenon as a specifically dollarized event.

There’s something about human greed – as Andrew Odlyzko noted in the paper “An Undertaking of Great Advantage, But No One to Know What It Is” that even the likes of Isaac Newton can be drawn in and soaked by an outrageous bubble.  With additional details in his “Isaac Newton and the perils of the financial South Sea.

Grand Super Bubbles do not come along but perhaps once in a lifetime.  It’s easy to make fun of Isaac Newton – since it was 300-years back.  Where people miss the point is that virtually no one can comprehensibly explain how Bitcoin will “clear” when all the miners shut down because of falling prices.

As miners go offline (cost of mining exceeding new BTC values) the ledgers will first slow and then fail.

Kind of Like Bank Runs

Until about 2011, or so, conventional (economic) wisdom held that banks in the U.S. were generally sound.  However, a couple of diligent researchers found that there had been plenty of “small bank failures” in the 1920’s before the big bank runs (or the media played sort) appeared in the thirties.

Thanks to lost data sets, the FDIC report series “Managing the Crisis: The FDIC and RTC Experience — Chronological Overview” includes this useful discussion of previous depression bank failures:

“On average, more than 600 banks failed each year between 1921 and 1929. Those failures led to the end of many state deposit insurance programs. The failed banks were primarily small, rural banks, and people in metropolitan areas were generally unconcerned. Investors and other businessmen thought that the failing institutions were weak and badly managed and that those failures served to strengthen the banking system. A major wave of bank failures during the last few months of 1930 triggered widespread attempts to convert deposits to cash. Confidence in the banking system began to erode, and bank runs became more common. In all, 1,350 banks suspended operations during 1930. Some simply closed their doors due to financial difficulties, while others were placed into receivership.”

We review Newtonian gullibility and focus on “past bank collapses” only to make a useful framework for ready reference in coming months.

Headlines have already been appearing that bear suspicious rhymes with the 1920’s banking foreshocks.

Take the report How Many Cryptocurrencies Have Failed In 2022? – E-Crypto News, for example.  The quote to focus on is?

“By May 24, 2022, at least 2,421 cryptocurrencies have failed, according to Coinopsy which tracks such failures.”

As of this morning, 2,427 were shown, so the early-adopter failure rate is obviously declining.

But, so is total dollars in play in lah-lah land.

The present market cap of major cryptos is about $828 billion says data at All Cryptocurrencies | CoinMarketCap.  As you can see, at its peak, even if all had reached valuations comparable to BTC (they didn’t) their whole practical impact was just over $1-trillion.

In the end, I was forced to admit that yes, my consigliere got this one right.

As we go into today, FTX On The Brink As It Halts Client Onboarding After Binance Scraps Rescue.

And BTC has traded below $16,000 overnight.

Bubbles don’t unwind quickly – and this one won’t, either.

  • In 1718, the King (George 1) took a position in South Seas Company.
  • By 1721, the Parliament had passed one of the world’s first bailouts as a result of the South Seas failure.

We have to wonder whether there are any highly levered systemically important organizations about to get whacked with crypto that could turn the present declines into a systemic collapse.

But, we’re hopeful there aren’t.

Nuke War Instead?

While the Biden defense of Ukraine borders, but not America’s grinds on, we find it suspicious to read Russia says retreat from key city begun but Ukraine cautious.

We have a long-held view that Kherson would make as bad a site as any for a reminder to the world that non-strategic nuclear weapons (NSNW)are still an option.

And the “Vlad removers” who are vocally pushing regime change in Russia ignore he’s surrounded by hardliners who would not show as much nuclear restraint.  So while reading popular press reports like Russian TV Compares Kherson Retreat to Worst Military Defeats in History, you might want to temper it with looking behind Putin’s throne for the hardliners.  Putin’s Elite Tremble as Hardliners Call for ‘Stalinist’ Steps.

Flash memory failure?

Taiwan Double Talk

The other war to be planning on is the one over Taiwan – which China is committed to reuniting with the Mainland.  Comes up in a week as Joe Biden and Xi Jinping to Discuss U.S.-China ‘Red Lines’—And Taiwan.  Given the lousy quality of Biden foreign policy so far, we don’t think this one will go well.

We think Joe Biden has a lot on his mind, other than solving problems for America.  Like Biden laughs off question about House Republicans’ plans to investigate his son Hunter: ‘Lots of luck in your senior year’.  Still, media are not letting up on “Pops” yet: Biden is the ‘biggest face of peddling influence’ in Hunter scandal: Former FBI agent Jonathan Gilliam tells Fox.

Electile Dysfunction

The control of the House is likely to be republican and the senate still seems a toss-up as we read 2022 Election: Live Analysis and Results | FiveThirtyEight.  But no telling, till it’s all done, and the legal challenges have been completed.

Was the election clean?  Some headlines to help you sort that out:  We Caught Them Again: TGP Catches Late-Night Operatives Moving Van-Loads of Suspicious Ballots Way After Legal Deadline in Detroit, Michigan.

  1. Well, Biden’s witch hunt of Elon Musk continues …

    https://news.yahoo.com/biden-worth-looking-elon-musks-222145463.html

Hopefully, in that endeavor Biden will learn how to (get along) with other countries, rather than constantly insulting them. But I won’t hold my breath.

And did ya know, Heart Damage is temporary? Yep, says right here …

    https://www.myscience.org/en/news/wire/temporary_mild_damage_to_heart_muscle_cells_after_covid_19_booster_vaccination-2022-unibas

Sounds all easy-peasey, don’t it? How long is “temporary”? Till you die? – there’s some real horrific shit out there. Wow

NOPE ! its ALL because of isolation – bwahahahaah

    • The MyScience article reeks of doublespeak! I’m surprised they had the gall to publish it, when so many reported incidents contradict their equivocations. The site should change its name to MyPaid-forBlatherings.

  2. Pedo joe laughs at the GOP going after hunter. Of course he laughs , he has the pardon card. Who will pardon joe?

  3. Dude,
how could you be so blind ? I understand eye issues and Ure aging, but you were forewarned, told in advance this cyrpto drop was coming and that Hodlerz were putting Buy Stop orders in anticipation. Needed to have Ure truck assend tight to crypto loading dock, Before the rout.

No backing, made up numbers, clearing issues – ALL apply to Ure evil script -the USD. WTF, over
Watch closely, geniuses, as the dollar takes U-all on the ride he wishes BTC would have taken the BCN/coinerz.

I remain standing, wealthy & getting wealthier by the month..thanks in no small part to some of the juicy ideas and information shared on UrbSurv platform. Thx again 4 that G.

Elections still rigged – no need to “seed the votes” – Dominion (frankfort germany/cia-dvd) they just deeeeeeeelaaaay -then a cut &paste..and voila a 2-3 million vote swing..see NYC gov race last night..one of many examples.

  4. Wow – the US$’s headed South while the PMs are headed North. In other words – “normal” market activity. Wonder how long that’ll last? Normal seems so strange now.

  5. “However, since crypto’s are “made up” money – with nothing of value behind them – perhaps the case could be made that globally Crypto might be a $3 trillion floating craps game.”

Hmmm… and exactly how is this different from the dollar????

      • And they all need sound money to maintain operation. Granted .mill are drilled to perform even if payroll becomes insolvent[ all par to the op]. IRL, USSR, UK empire, Weimar serve as examples of the coming shrinkflation. Be most worried about whats coming after reset Might help to send some satoshi to that border guards cellphone to pay to leave your current predicament.

      • Not to mention the large denomination US$ cash notes and physical PM coins are still about as private as you can get. ALL crypto wallets can and eventually WILL be traced as the article I posted a couple of days ago points out. Ukrainian cyber sleuths know all about the wallets being filled on the Russian side even if crypto is being used on their side as well.

Digital = traceable. When the governments decide to come after the crypto users you won’t be able to dig a hole deep enough to hide your USB drives. Enjoy it till then.

      • Several years ago there was a commenter on Zero Hedge with the handle “Radical Marijuana”. He routinely made your point that the acceptance of the dollar was based on governmental national/international brute force and the threat of same. As you wrote, without the intimidation and outright murder (as necessary) the dollar would be worth nothing.
        I totally agree.

    • The real difference is that I can pay taxes with FRN’s, along with Amazon, Ebay, and the local gas station. Both are media for commerce, but one has a broader acceptance than the other. BTC’s are especially valuable in a few select markets, but access to those markets is difficult and time intensive. Lots of FRN’s and a bit of BTC probably make a some sense, but neither is a viable long term store of wealth.

  6. “that even the likes of Isaac Newton can be drawn in”

Not to say Newton’s investment was fake news but how do we know that news is true? Newton’s loss sounds made-up to make regular serfs feel OK about losing their livelihood or house or 401K or Bitcoin fortune – asset stripped.

One truth we know from that time period is the Koh-i-Noor diamond was jacked and hasn’t been returned.

that was twice I was headed to Post Falls Idaho and I’m working in Richland by Boeing. that has never happend. LOL

since both my ex girlfriends are former center folds I think it makes sense that my next ex girlfriend will be from playboy. since in a series of Fortunate events I will be there at the mansion on new years eve for the party.

Rough neck cowboy mountain man and an exotic Miss May?

some one said man I thought for sure you’d win that big power ball. I said win the 2 Billion? that is chump change. I have THE DUDE on my side. I don’t need 2 Billion. last week I found out my old lady was sleeping with my buddy, I almost died and now on new years I will be the Playboy Mansion. what do I need 2 Billion dollars for? I’m living the dream. hahahaha

did the Republicans win the election? I haven’t even looked.

    hahaha.

    see ya man

    • So, Andy… you’re going to the Playboy Mansion for New Years, and you will wind up married ? Hmmm? ;-) At least that’s what I’m reading. YMMV

    • Republicans did not win the election, neither did the Demos, rather Americans lost the election a very long time ago.

  8. oh I won $15 on a $5 lotto ticket this morning. triplied my money. whoohooo! and I got paid a day early from work.

  9. I am intrigued by the potential failure of FTX and its effect on the crypto universe. My guess is that with the big boys in trouble, a lot of folks will want to get their money out of cryptos. While there are some true believers that will buy the coins all the way down, the marginal investor just wants out while s/he can get something. But once they get the money, what are they to do with it? They buy stocks. Voila, we get a big jump in today’s market, which may continue until the crypto marketplace stabilizes.

    • Personally Like Bullion, Blockchain [in he right projects] is a hedge. Make sure you hold your cypher keys, don’t leave them on the exchange to be plundered. No financial advice do your own homework. The mistakes I made in Gold and Silver from 1997-2010ish? I did not consistently DCA every payday to constantly grow the size of my stack when the ATH hit again. Doing the “what if?” math reveled that had I consistently spent money for lunch on bullion rather than “lunch” regardless of market conditions….. I would be typing this from the comfort of my Gulfstream enroute to the Seychelles LOL.

    • From a $32 billion valuation to a fire sale in 11 months: FTX nosedived in spectacular fashion.
“And once more, it’s the retail investors who may pay the biggest price.”

      • NEVER leave any assets on deposit with ANY brokerage firm. Not even the big boys in NY.

Remember MF Global? Controlled and run by the Ex-Govenor of New Jersey who was also a former US Senator. (also ex CFO of Goldman Sachs)

Well that “honest” guy raided the Segregated TRUST accounts of those who had money with his firm and “played” with that money … taking MF Global down the tubes into bankruptcy.

An what about those who’s “Segregated Trust Account” funds were used as his piggy bank? They ended up only being GENERAL CREDITORS in the bankruptcy and got back virtually nothing (at one point in time it was said they would get back ZERO, but in the end I think they got back a few pennies).

As for the CROOK (ex US Senator /ex NJ Governor Jon Corzine) who effectively STOLE their money? No criminal charges ever filed against him or his firm. Still living the good life in his Mansion by the sea (two of them last I read).

        Other names:
Bernie Madoff was the former head of the NASDAQ stock exchange. As Blue Chip as you can be in the NY fiancial world.

Russel Wasendorf, ex board member of the Chicago Board of Trade … looted his firm Perguine Financial (PGF Best) just like Jon Corzine, and just like Crozine stole much of his clients money to utilize for speculating.

And of course the founder /leader of FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried, who has now admitted to utilizing Segregated CLIENT money for speculating on behalf of his related firms.

Do NOT leave ANY assets on deposit with ANY brokerage firm!! (except for when doing an actual trade) Have ownership transferred to YOUR NAME – for Crypto store on YOUR devices!! (and like cash itself PROTECT those devices)

The financial world is FILLED with well credentialed CROOKS!!

  10. Crypto-currency is safe? “Much safer then the banks !” Really?
    .
Sam Bankman-Fried secretly transferred FTX customer funds to Alameda Research after his trading firm suffered losses in the spring.
Sam Bankman-Fried transferred at least $4 billion from FTX, including customer funds, to help prop up his Alameda trading arm, Reuters reported.
    – At least we now know where 4 billion $ of his customers’ crypto currency went. Think they will ever get it back? – Nope! No regulations, or insurance to back any of it.

  11. The stock markets surging up this morning on the news that inflation was less than expected in October.., the Dow Jones industrial average just went above its 280-day moving average., and is up over 900 points.
    – On my Aggregate Index., it is still 3,000 points below the 280-day moving average., but is kissing the 85 day moving average.
    – Think it will hold? I’ll be watching the close and futures market for tomorrow’s open. Should prove interesting.

  12. This is finally it for me…Thanks George, you are a true treasure of a guy…I mean that…But… I have bigger fish to fry in this great economy I live in. I get sick and tired of conspiracy theorists on this site and elsewhere looking for an excuse for their own woes. Life is what you make of it. It has been and always will be a juke and jive to stay alive. We are all running backs, avoiding tackles, accumulating yards and trying to score TD’s in this game of life. If everyone would just embrace a just do it attitude and look forward, this world would be a much better place.

For anyone trying to blame a pretty good guy in Biden and and even greater guy in Obama for what’s wrong with this country, isn’t paying attention. Of course, i will be blamed for my tirades against Trump for the past 6 years. Fair enough…But…The only reason why I trashed Trump is because he is a fraud, has no aptitude of current events, politics, sentence structure, vocabulary, common sense and the truth. And his idiotic selling of the Big Lie, which even my own conservative friends thinks is wacko, cost the GOP their red wave. The people/voters that really matter in elections are smarter than the trash Trump spews. If anything, this election moved us towards the center, which is a good thing. Gone are the extreme right and voted out are the extreme left. There are a few undesirables on both the left and right still in power, but the referendum the American voter is trying to send is one of conciliation. They are fed up with the Big Lie and voted out the woke crowd. Good riddance to both…

And I am sure you all will be saying Good riddance to me…whatever. As I said…my life is too busy and I need to stay always focused on the prize. George..I am sure you will understand…You see my numbers and know my business. It’s still flourishing. Downtimes are good times for acute and focused business people. It’s time to zero in and focus, focus, focus now more than ever. Good luck and wake up everyone.

    • Mark, my best wishes for the growing success of your firm – which I know is already doing wonderfully.
Been a pleasure to make your acquaintance and one of these days – when the grid browns out – remember there’s a lower stress option that offers a 1,000 year track record of resilience out here away from big cities.
You’ll enjoy it when you find it – working with your hands on a piece of land – even if only gardening and remodeling – provides a much nicer psychological buzz than writing checks, but it does take a lot more time.
In the end, we’re all filming our own GoPro’s behind the eyes – and when we get to the end of the line, playing back the “game film of life” should be looked forward to. Keep living it to film it and watch the replay later on.
Be well and don’t be a strange – plus it’s OK to lurk…
If I need a 1.9 million starter home in the south Bay, you’re my go to guy.
      Thanks for your contributions.

    • “And I am sure you all will be saying Good riddance to me…”

      No.

I, for one, will be saying “Good Luck” to you.

    • Mark, Thank God you are gone!

We had to put up with and process all of your tirades; those SIX years of em.

It’ll be nice to have some peace around these parts.

As usual, you leave us with your opinion, and your big bucks accounting for something in your mind analysis.

      We shall see, shan’t we?

The first shall be last and the last shall be first.

      • Take a deep breath. We will each have our turn on the scales of the Just. Anger comes at a price. Learning comes with a bonus no matter what or who the source.

    • Hi Mark.

No good riddance from me. I’ll miss your contributions and do agree with many of the things you say. You have a similar view of the midterm election results as I do. Good riddance to the Big Lie and the woke crowd. I suspect neither Trump or Biden will run in 2024 but that is just the blathering of a dumb Canadian sitting in the bleachers here to the north.

I lived the life you live up until I was about 60, not in real estate but running a very profitable business or two and with all the play toys that go with it. Walk-in wine cellar, vintage wines, Havana cigars, forested back yard from heaven in the middle of the city, golf memberships, etc.

Then one day, while walking down the yellow brick road, I tripped and fell through the curtain that hides the other side. I saw things I had never seen before. The man that Dorothy saw with the levers was there but there was a lot more, particularly the munchkins that were not singing merrily but living in squalor and desolation. I travelled back and forth to that side for several years. My life’s work changed and so did I. I sold my businesses, downsized and said good bye to the yellow brick road. Now in my sunset years, I look back and savour the time I spent on both sides of the curtain. I screwed up a lot but I followed my heart as much as my pocket book. I’m glad for that.

My son-in-law is in real estate here in Canada. He works very hard and long hours as I am sure you do. Like you, he sells high end real estate and just bought a beautiful retirement estate on the shores of Lake Huron for him and my daughter. He has only asked my advice a couple of times and all I have advised him is “Don’t try and be the richest man in the cemetery.”

Let me finish by quoting you.

“Life is what you make of it. It has been and always will be a juke and jive to stay alive. We are all running backs, avoiding tackles, accumulating yards and trying to score TD’s in this game of life. If everyone would just embrace a just do it attitude and look forward, this world would be a much better place,”

I would only add a couple of things.

Make sure you know what yard line you are on and how close it might be to the end of the game. There is a referee and the whistle can get blown when you least expect it.

      Best wishes Mark.

      • “I suspect neither Trump or Biden will run in 2024 but that is just the blathering of a dumb Canadian sitting in the bleachers here to the north.”

LOL well that is my thoughts exactly.. and I am the blathering idiot in the wastelands of the USA… I don’t want Trump to run.. he would probably win but seriously do I want to listen to all that BS again on the Networks.. I still have troubles turning on a MSN channel… although the boss loves 911 and wednesday is chicago night for her.. I am the hallmark guy LOL LOL..she isn’t in the christmas mood for the hallmark christmas shows quite yet.. personally I can watch them all nonstop LOL..

      • I am more in tune to having the guy from texas( I can never remember his name..) be the one I vote for.. he has been eerily quiet with all this crap going on.. but when he does say something .. he makes a lot of sense to me.. or Rand Paul.. I loved what they stand for.. and Rand and Ron both read the bills before they voted on them.. which I put on an upper rung..

      • “Make sure you know what yard line you are on and how close it might be to the end of the game. There is a referee and the whistle can get blown when you least expect it.”

So true.. none of us can understand .. just try and be the best we all can be.. help those that we can.. even if it is just a shoulder to lean on.. I pray that when the referee blows the whistle on my run down the gauntlet of life.. that I will have made enough of a positive affect on those around me that they will strive to do the same thing..(Now I have never lived the other side of the mountain.. but I do have my share of wine.. and no I don’t smoke so no cigars for me.. but a good cup of coffee.. yup now that is the ticket LOL…)
to make a difference by being the difference … Love , Compassion, Kindness.. once you have seen the other side it is really hard to ignore it exists without at least giving it a shot to make a change to it…..

      • @LOOB

“I don’t want Trump to run.. he would probably win but seriously do I want to listen to all that BS again on the Networks..”

Do you really believe the BS that the establishment media will bury DeSantis in is any less than they heaped on Trump?

It will be more. Trump differentiated himself from every modern politician and every other Republican, by returning the dung to the places from which it came — if possible, with interest.

You can not name a Republican President since Ike, who was not buried in BS.

After the 2024 Election, you still won’t be able to.

      • “You can not name a Republican President since Ike, who was not buried in BS.
After the 2024 Election, you still won’t be able to.”

OH I hear ya.. but think about it.. after the news yesterday… about biden asking the DOJ to stop trump from ever being able to take office if voted in in the next election….. with that in mind @Ray.. do you think they would allow a republican president to take office..
Look at what they have been doing…..and all in less than two years..

    • “For anyone trying to blame a pretty good guy in Biden and and even greater guy in Obama for what’s wrong with this country, isn’t paying attention.” You forgot Ure favorite piece of filth – killary ?

Obviously this clown writes property descriptions… burnt down piece of shit = fixer upper in need of a little TLC.

Thanks and see ya, wouldnt want be ya.

    • Mark down that I will miss your stimulating ignorance. I do not believe that you will actually stop commenting here. You will be back under another handle but I will recognize the syntax. Been here daily since 2006 myself and I know you share the addiction to co-mingling with other intelligent, gifted and explorers of knowledge. Be they nimrod, genius or lacking knowledge there has been so much useful information-both ways- on this URE schmorgazboard that I truly believe you will “Be Back” like your fellow Cali Winner.
If not? Quote of Biden something like this “Enjoy you Senior Year”
      Zephyr

    • I will miss your contributions Mark.

Politically I am not so sure we are that far apart … though I lean to the “OLD style” Libertarian side of the Republican Party (don’t think it exists anymore), which is what predated the times from BEFORE the Bush Clan (and subsequent) came to control the Republican Party (or those who ran on the so called “Republican” ticket after that point in time).

On the economic side I agree with your assessment as to the wealth creation that has come out of the Bay Area but totally disagree that such can be recreated in all the pockets of geography and peoples that make up the US.

The US population is NOT one of homogeneous mindset of values, it is diverse, very diverse, in its’ ethnic make up and in it’s beliefs /philosophies /goals. The US is NOT Japan in other words (Japan is a very homogenous people and culture with a common set of long held beliefs).

Rural southerners are very very different from rural folks in Minnesota in other words … and the city people from each of those regions are just as different. Coastal folks from the NE, or California, just don’t think the same as those in Iowa, let alone Montanna or Texas.

In your business dealings you deal with the 1% of the 1%, NOT the average person of even the Bay Area, let alone in the rest of the country. Because of that I do think you have a very skewed view as to how the world works for the everyday person once one crosses the Sierra Nevada’s, maybe even how it works for the average person once one even crosses the Bay and leaves the upsale neighborhoods on that side of the Bay behind.

I wish you the best in the endeavors you choose to apply yourself to. Just remember the physical “trinkets” that many strive to achieve are just that, “trinkets”. As one Funeral Home Director put it to me once years ago: “I have yet to lower a casket into the ground with a filled luggage rack on top.”

      Best Wishes
      Stephen 2

      • “I lean to the “OLD style” Libertarian side of the Republican Party (don’t think it exists anymore),”

I actually think it is still alive and well.. I to lean towards the libitarian side..although.. I was registered as a democrat but changed it after all the hate speaches for four years.. I was ashamed of how they were acting.. and even more ashamed now that they are making excuses..
I to will miss your contributions Mark.. while your at one side of the spectrum of the man on the top of the mountain.. I am on the other side of that hill..what is happening in your life affects all of us and your insight on how it is operating is priceless necessary information for all of us to learn from.. while I see what is going on at the lower end.. my view is that of the working class struggling.. your view is of the operations of the upper scale..
with that in mind… I cannot fathom the life of those at the lowest level .. nor can I fathom what is going on in the upper middle.. mostly because it doesn’t affect my lifestyle.. hearing from all classes and what is going on is important to get the overall view of the world..
God bless you on your journeys.. hope to see your posts again in the future..

    • Trump? Obama? Hitlery ? Conspiracy Theories? That is all so 2010’s. Lighten up that load of old baggage and get a hobby or something. It’s later than you think.

    • Mark,
I’ve blasted you time and time again throughout your sojourn here on George’s site for one reason – you landed right in the middle of an already existing personal open wound of realization that people like you really do exist. I see it every day I look out the front window of my house and see two extravagantly renovated wood framed homes that used to be occupied by humble people that opened their doors to everyone but are now occupied by two couples that refuse to do anything on the side of their houses that face us for no other reason than the fact they have more, MUCH more, that most other people in our town and tried to TAKE what we had away through their political and social influence with a coalition of like-minded people, almost all of them new to our area. There is no exaggeration here. There is no remorse, no contrition on their part after 4 years now and, given the chance, in my heart I know they’d try again if they could. Like them, at NO time did you ever … EVER take into consideration the fact that a simpler life has just as much validity as your high-flying, high-spending walk in haut couture, however well earned, even though you claimed to have such roots. As a result I’ve gleefully used you as a whipping boy for all that has happened to our formally quiet, rural town as it makes its way down the road toward … “progress”. Mea culpa.

Somewhere, somehow down the road peace may come to our town again and I’m sure it won’t be in the manner I expect but, more than likely, it will take a new generation of kids and people that have grown together as the previous generations of our town did who expired all too soon. I hope that Christ’s axiom of the Sour Grapes doesn’t take root in the hearts of our children. War-time adversaries have come together in friendship, or at least mutual respect, for each other after governments send them to clash with one another but the hubris that leads one group to uproot another due to acquisitiveness breeds nothing but generations of contempt – and worse. Witness our own country’s indigenous people’s long standing angst even though their ancestor’s lifestyles were based on the same principles. This is what I read with every post you’ve “graced” George’s website with along with each and every denial of the obvious that you threw back at us.

I’ve said before that wealth is the greatest test of one’s character and you’ve proven it in spades. If the Biblical parable of the rich man and the poor man was ever meant for anyone it is you … my brother … and by that I can assume that George’s admonition to learn from everyone has been accomplished in your words here. I have, however, felt that it was more of a review of a hard lesson each and every generation of Man has had to learn and observe through Time as we attempt to purge such sin from our hearts again and again. We’re all a long way from being able to accomplish this outside the confines of a monastery. Be very wary of the fact that God, Universe, whatever, loves both of us enough to teach us the hard lessons of this Life, hopefully, before we expire. Do yourself a favor and look for a minister that isn’t impressed with your wealth as much as you are.

      • So when will we have the pleasure of your departure? SURELY you won’t lower yourself to stay with people you so despise?!?! Please, please, please join Mark’s exodus!

        • ALL are welcome at Ure’s site – we don’t discriminate based on much of anything except personal attacks and excessively rude behavior. If people want to ramble, we’d APPRECIATE some adherence to coherence, if that makes any.
C has interesting ideas and the best way to have a sharp mind is a good sharpening stone.

      • aunt c likes to fact check US all, all the time, with her reuters bull cheese, but Elon says,,,
“FALSE !!!” reuters get fact check by the owner his self
        say cheese

repeated lame stream media of the corporations is ECHO CHAMBER MUSIC, propaganda, fish bait. It stinks.

I will miss my canary in the mine,,, when Mark is upset, things are going in the right direction. He knows his used property mkt business and creating propaganda, and is misleading about politics also. He seems a little down in the dumps.
Mark hates the the US Constitution, it is no surprise that c is in love with his wordsmithing , truth twisting rhetoric learned from a journalism/propaganda school. I mean really, he supports the Lincoln Project,,, talk about a mis-named bunch of traitors.

What is really pushing Mark’s goodbye, & last swing at Trump?
What “hand writing on the wall does he see”, from his inside connections? he needs to focus focus focus.
hope he enjoys what he has, while he can.
penitence, I remember little markie saying, we need to seek it !
        Boomerang, right back at him.
The folks here did not go looking for Mark. He came out swing, when he throws tomatoes at US, we throw em back. Mark is Quite jealous of Trump,,, better looking smarter wife, more money, his own golf courses and his own BIG jet to fly him all over the USA, better homes Mar-a-lago and the Tower, campaigning for others, to help restore our country to WE THE PEOPLE, while markie helped BLM/antifa and was in Guatamala for the migrant caravans, bragging how good UNESCO is at helping send the invasion, using innocent people as cover, pure fucking evil the way Sorass uses people,,,.
        https://trendingpolitics.com/the-un-is-funding-the-invasion-of-the-u-s-southern-border-ethom/
I do not wish him well
        I wish him luck,
But, he did his part helping Elon buy Twitter,,, with his Tesla and powerwall.

just scroll by LOOB’s remarks, it is easy to do,,, unless u have a fetish for “addicted gaslighters, hebephrenic schizophreniacs”
I don’t so I just scroll by sometimes, it just depends on what subject he is writing on.

the “stable genius” was not running in this horse race, he did a lot of work and $ helping the others. We got the HOUSE back and the Senate is looking promising. We got the Court in his first term,,,Yahooooooo,,, winning winning winning.
Now Trump is separating the “closet” RINOs from the patriots. Don’t fall for the DeSantis feud, it is a baited trap, Ron is in on it ;-) remember the North Korea feud? and then Trump went to the Korean border, AND WALKED INTO NORTH KOREA !!!
DID YOU SEE ANY SECRET SERVICE AGENTS FOLLOW HIM IN?

GAME OVER,, ‘Q’ and Elon agree,, scroll down just a little on this link

        Cheers to ya c

  13. George glad to see you share some of my sentiments regarding Bitcoin’s value and the profitability of mining. But here’s my question…what happens when all 21 million coins are mined? Wouldn’t that be an immediate hard stop to “the ledger”?

      • Or if it will ever be able to be funded when the US$ goes away and CBDCs takes its place. Jack be nimble, Jack be quick… Cryptos are defined by the currencies they are purchased and valued in. None stand alone unless they claim some form of physical element to base themselves on.

      • Same way CC clear their transactions, same way everything else clears.

Central Clearing – whatever it ends up being called – has been and is currently under development&negotiation…tini, tiny, micro fee to clear/process all transactions..

  14. “The stock market is poised for a significant year-end rally because ‘inflation is basically over.”
    – Several analysts said this very thing this morning., as the Dow shot up over 1,000 points.
Technically., it is possible., which would blow a lot of predictions and forecasts.., and could stave off and weaken the predicted recession.

    • I’ve been bearish for years because like many here I see through the made up BS but now… F it. I’m all in on a rally to infinity. Logic and reason are gone… bye bye. I’m going long on the market now, there no replay of 1929, there’s nothing that will topple the house of cards as long as everyone agrees there’s no such thing as gravity.
      cya

  15. Since the Oct 14th low of 35,778 the Dow has climbed just over 10% to 38,395 – close today.., up over 2,100 points., and over its 85 day MA. Big day.., and a whole lot of money.

  16. History says the market rallies strongly in post-midterm-election years. It’s happened every time for 50 years. And in the post-midterm year when there is a split party decision with a Democratic President and a Republican Congress, there’s an even stronger market rally historically.

  17. George,

I was stuck yesterday. Thanks for opening the bubbles, digital bank runs, and South San Francisco portals in the matrix.

Last week South San Francisco headquartered Stripe situated next to a lovely marina published its staff layoff letter onto the company website. Given that the firm is not seemingly distressed, and appointed the former head of the Bank of Canada seguing to head of the Bank of England onto its board last year, perhaps a window into the futurescape beckons. One imagines such a company of carbon neutral intent would have carried out due diligences on its new hq leasehold. Hopefully the hq building construction methods resolved prior published city concerns of the former landfill site emitting methane to the attention of unmonitered gas sensors as well as ground movement sensors recording land subsidence towards the bay.

Speaking of popping a South Seas bubble, did you say “digital bank runs”? JP Morgan and HSBC both set up their shingle in Meta this year. Apparently there is big money in virtual real estate with HSBC marketing their fund only to the ultra wealthy. It would appear that the Meta Decentraland world ERC-721 nft tokens still have value. Perhaps concerns are present for the holders of Binance Smart Chain BEP-20 nft type in use on other worlds? Did everyone choose a good realtor?

Okay, let’s see if we can catch a sighting of DJ George at DCLMVMF22 (Decentraland Metaverse Music Festival 2022). Make sure you attempt entry running desktop minimums. Mobiles are ineligible and will be bounced into the egress of reality.

By the way, America, do send word if you need bananas shipping to the republic. I didn’t bother watching night three CNN coverage of the Tuesday election. A fresh stash of votes found in Az.? What are they running, some third world s…to paraphrase Mr. Trump. And a Georgia runoff featuring a reverend with an aura of child abuse arrest versus a retired football player who invokes his disassociative personality disorder for amnesia about threatening to kill his former spouse. Guess the people will speak in 26 days or whenever following that the runoff votes get counted. Woke us up when it’s over.
