Friday’s Crowd in the Casino – Eyeing the Damn Calendar

What are all these people doing here? In the Big Casino of Life, anyway?

It’s an odd perspective to launch from, but increasingly, the facts look odd, too, so why not?

New Games in the Markets

Over at the OHLC Machine:

That’s the digital-ready version of the “Open, High, Low, Close” that Japanese candlestick traders love to view.  At the Thursday close, it was pointing higher.  Not into “burning the candle at both ends,” are you?

All three indices – Dow, S&P, and NASDAQ – produced very similar candles: small green bodies (close slightly above open) with short upper shadows and much longer lower shadows.

  • Dow: Open 48,557.82 | High 48,683.45 | Low 48,337.38 | Close 48,578.72
    >>Tiny green body (~21 points), upper wick ~105 points, lower wick ~220 points (more than twice the upper wick).
  • S&P 500: Open 7,037.78 | High 7,051.23 | Low 7,008.52 | Close 7,041.28
    >>Tiny green body (~3.5 points), upper wick ~10 points, lower wick ~29 points.
  • NASDAQ: Open 24,062.45 | High 24,156.18 | Low 23,894.91 | Close 24,102.70
    >>Small green body (~40 points), upper wick ~53 points, lower wick ~168 points.

This shape is the opposite of a shooting star — it’s closer to a hammer (or sometimes called a “hanging man” depending on the prior trend). It’s generally considered a bullish signal, especially if it appears after a pullback: the market sold off during the day but buyers stepped in and pushed prices back up to finish near the highs. So…

Not surprisingly, the futures were all modestly up today. To celebrate, we considered a good Japanese tea for breakfast in lieu of the Britly (Bullish Bob approved) Yorkshire Gold. Or, the bowl-roaster’s favorite: lapsang souchong — that smoky tea that smells like a campfire. Magically blurring the harsh smoke-tea boundary with…wait!  I digressed!

Over at the War Machine

This machine is smoking, too: Trump says Iran war should end ‘soon’, says Hezbollah should support truce, However, Savior or not, Trump isn’t leading Hezbollah, or so it seems to back woods us. No telling what the three-letter money has been buying, though. Accounting? What’;s that, right?

Which gets us to wondering if this, too, is smoke:  Iran to Hand Over Its Uranium, Trump Claims – Novinite.com.

There is always a huge crowd around The War Machine. Maybe it’s because people want to just live their lives and just quietly go about the business of trying to figure out what the point of this “turn on the Rock” is all about.

No telling for sure and certain, but now the crowd is edging over toward: US Iran news live: MEA says India invited by UK, France to join Hormuz transit plan; Iran rejects temporary ceasefire.

Oh, and that guy on the right wheel on the machine? Free spins!  Yep: if it looks like the wheels won’t land right, he posts a tweet and the wheel does more “Free Spins.” Some claim re-spins lasting several months.

Then There’s the Time Machine

Always fun to play, this one will appear again in just under two weeks.  Before it disappeared into the aether between meetings, I snapped a shot of the Payoff Table and it looks like a tough call.

Now, just between us, we’ve always seen the parallel between the Wall Street Journal and the more robust The Daily Racing Form.  Except in the one, it’s all about riders on their nags while in the other it’s about nagging on the riders.

A small nit, but sometimes worthwhile.

Meantime, there’s a whole cottage industry of tipsters who have evolved around The Time Machine Game.  Our research traced it back to the CME Group’s Fed Tool – and you know the Fed is full of banking tools, right?

If you want to click that tip sheet (here: FedWatch – CME Group) you’ll find that the smart money is on “No Change.”  However, that assumes the pari-mutuels (commodities – see the totalizer here Futures – doesn’t get too far out of whack.

The Networked Games Disclosure: Take a step back. On the surface, all three of these machines seem to be free-running and independent.  But no, they’re not. The “300 Families” operate the network and it’s based on the research of Machiavelli et al. who .spawned the “Keep ’em all stirred up” school of managment.  This lets the Families accomplish load-balancing with their interests on one side, and we – the small-fry in the Big Casino of Life – all Mesmerized on the other.

Have a nice day, come again.  Tip the valet.

What REALLY Matters?

From Triple A Thursday:  The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline decreased 7 cents over the past week to $4.09. After last week’s announcement of a two-week ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran, the price for a barrel of crude oil… (see today’s futures prices).

You still look like a suspicious person to “your” government: House Votes to Extend Expiring FISA Surveillance Law for 10 Days. What was once a problem is now a corporate cash cow.  Yessir, this is progress.

And if you’re looking for permanent fame? Scientists Name New Colombian Spider Species After Pink Floyd.  Speaking of which, where did Trump Vodka go? Just when he’s driving us to drink, too…

Around the Ranch: That Damn Calendar

Thursday was a high-output day for an old man with power tools.  The whole yard was mowed. Not a postage stamp – yard here is a couple of acres.  With my blade-killing lust unfilled, it was then onto a bigger power tool – a real tractor with a brush hog – and a couple of hours of “land trimming.”

By the end of it, the place was looking less like “Wild, Outback tree farm” and nearly good enough to pass – in a small area – as a state park.

Then it hit me.  “Why bother?”

Moods like this come and go, out here.  More when you’ve got a few years on and you feel enough aches and pains from land work that you no longer jump down off the tractor to pee. You step to the edge of the floorboard and unload from on-high.

Aging is like that – you start doing things because they “just make sense.” There is a shocking amount of human activity that doesn’t make sense, and it was here the busy mind of George (BMG) began to ruminate on the calendar.  I want a day off.

The Worst Holiday-Free Part of the Year

Kidneys depressurized – the land now looking park-like, I realized we are still a month—though it will seem like more—away, for that next four-day workweek.

Clusters like Memorial Day to Juneteenth to the Fourth of July (observed on July 3 in 2026 – a kind of government’s OK with sacrilege here lately) create a chain of short waits that keep spirits buoyed.

See, normally, you’d feel the rhythm of the year humming along, with long weekends and three-day breaks arriving often enough to break the monotony of ordinary weeks. These periods turn the grind into something bearable, even anticipatory, as each holiday offers a brief reset—time for barbecues, travel, or simply sleeping in without guilt.

But right now?  We’re in the worst of it.  Long, arid spells between holidays, the kind we’re slogging through right now.  No matter how many plants you put in, no matter how closely to trim the yards – it’s still going to require a total rework before Memorial Day.  That’s when “The 500” refers more to yard hours than auto sports.

There’s a distinct Mark Twain vibe to these dry patches—an echo of that wry, world-weary humor about life’s slower, more tedious passages, where time feels both endless and somehow wasted.

In an urban setting like Dallas up the road, it manifests as endless commutes on the tollway, packed happy hours that blur together, and weekends spent chasing small distractions amid concrete and traffic. People up in Tyler compensate with rose festivals, but employers don’t cut any slack.

The calendar’s long hauls test patience like a slow riverboat journey up the Mississippi, full of sameness and the quiet ache for the next landmark on the horizon. Boat’s moving the same speed, but you don’t seem to be getting anywhere fast.  Yet even these spells have their quiet charm: they make the good clusters all the sweeter when they finally arrive.

But, can they please hurry it along? The first hundred times on a tractor there’s always something to learn. It’s like those first hundred texts you sent. Now? It’s a reasonable thing to ask “What’s it all about, Alfie?

Point is I finally had time to work out a question that has been bugging me for decades: Who was Alfie, anyway?

Near as I can tell, he was the first guy to realize that after the first hundred times, everything turns into maintenance.

And the real trick to Life isn’t finding meaning…it’s not running out of diesel, spares, beer, or motivation before the next holiday shows up.  Are we there, yet?

Write when you get rich,

  1. “Meantime, there’s a whole cottage industry of tipsters who have evolved around The Time Machine Game.”

Time Machine (2011 Remaster) – Black Sabbath

    Pre-Chorus:
    Looking at the world
When you’ve open up your eyes
You’ve got to see the promises they’ve made
They’re bloody lies and broken dreams
    Your silence screams

    Chorus:
You’re living in a time machine
And you can choose just who you are
    Someone that you’ve never seen
    Somewhere you’ve never been
You’re living in a time machine

  2. When locked into retirement every day is Friday, one is always on holiday, Holiday or no. We are whipped today. I bought a thousand dollars of Red Oak and Red Maple. OK, the 65′ tree tops starting 45′ in the air came down fast. The cleanup part? A matter of perspective. It looks better than immediately after but lacks tidy look from just prior. Every storm it will be a comfort. In a couple years when aged, split and stacked it will comfort in the firebox. For now? Man I feel old (as it should be?). ~ E __|_ ~~

    ps – irrational exuberance anyone?

    • OR … you could have a repeat of the famous “Lake Forest Chain Saw Massacre!!” and forever be free of your tree issues.

Mister T (from the TV show The A-Team) bought a big ol mansion on 7.5 acres in Lake Forest Ill (a very very upscale and old line RICH North Shore town in the far north of Metro Chicago along Lake Michigan) and one night shortly after buying the property, in the middle of the night, proceeded to have commercial loggers clear the estate of it’s old oaks and maples, basically denuding the old estate of trees.

It is estimated that they managed to massacre 100+ old big trees in just one night!

By the time the sun came up and the neighbors could see what was going on and the city hall opened the next morning what had been the day before a beautiful old estate with gorgeous grounds was now a tree denuded blight in the middle of the that old line suburb … but Mr. T thought it was finally gorgeous!! “Looking much more Citified” I think I heard him say in an interview.

You could take care of your tree risk problem … and put some money in your pocket at the same time!! Be like our Tree Farmer webmaster … and just call in the loggers and tell em to CLEAR EM ALL!! (maybe then you could even qualify part of your homestead for an agricultural exemption for real estate taxes? ala our webmaster!! ;-0 )

      • (“OR … you could have a repeat of the famous “Lake Forest Chain Saw Massacre!!” and forever be free of your tree issues.”)

phew..that’s an image I don’t ever want to see again…. I read the court transcripts and seen the video of the real investigation that inspired that movie..Ed Gein…
in our home everything we watch can be viewed by any age bracket..hallmarks movies are a favorite..so is Disney plus..and on prime ..I do have curiosity stream and Gaia..but a lets slash Sally..it will not ever be on our television..
its bad enough that we have news feeds on …

    • Be happy Egor that you still live in an area that respects your freedom to prune and cut a tree on your property.

Portland, OR plus my suburb city rules: The penalty for cutting a tree without a permit in Portland can be significant. You could face fines of up to $1,000 per tree or $100 per inch in diameter. Permits are needed plus hiring an arborist. Lots of rules – native trees, invasive trees. diameter of tree, street trees. etc.

      • Oh my god…that’s horrible..
my father was big on wood lot management.. I’d get a tickle out of listening to him..yup I’m gonna trim this tree ..when I’m done it will grow like this and bend like that and its going to be beautiful…
then get out his trimming equipment..chop a limb off trim a branch there..when he was done..you’d swear he killed that tree… but it always grew out the way he envisioned it to grow out..
he cut three trees a week..and he planted three trees a week..did that up until my middle forties..

the video below reminds me of my father..seen him do exactly that so many times…lol.
he made his own chains and had a 4 ft chainsaw for the bigger trees..
I still have his hand two man saw..we would help him until he got his powered equipment..

      • If you live in a fascist city like Portland and want your tree gone, either get someone to hit it hard with a car and tow it away fast, or infect the tree with something that will kill it. Borers of some kind or even girdle it. Of course, if it’s cut down by a random vandal, who’s fault is that? It’s not kind and not right, but if you pay taxes for YOUR property, IMHO you have the moral right to do with it as you please. Getting around the law may be necessary, but at least you’re on solid grounds morally. Nobody has the right to prevent you doing as you wish with YOUR land just so they can look at it and see what they want at your expense. They had a chance to buy it first and they didn’t.

        • See and its a mentality like Oregon’s that causes all the forest fires in California..my father use to harp on the need for responsible wood lot management..as much as I do about strengthening the grid by building solar towers at every substation and handing out grid tie systems to every homeowner willing to have them installed..building air wells in arid regions and maintaining the infrastructure responsibly for a stronger national security..
clear the dead out and trim up the trees to keep them strong..
the kids have an apple tree..its a great apple tree..it needs my father around d to trim it put a coating on a section of the tree where bark has fallen off..but they refuse to do it..as the tree struggles to survive they are allowing it to die a miserable death..
I can’t talk any sense into them even though where the grandson trimmed it it is aggressively growing in an attempt to compensate for the damaged section..

      • RJ : ugh. Uhm. The chain saw slipped? Beuller? Can’t imagine the way I’d react to invasive administration of this sort. In this case I have no idea who even owns the timber. It could be me. It could be the (13) homes served by our private road? It could be the Kids Camp?

I don’t ask the other (12) property owners. Last year a group text went mamsy-pamsy re: trimming along the road edge, some (wimmin) adoring the over hanging canopy. Uh huh. It’s a road. After ship shaping vertical clearance it’s fine to manicure. Pants first then shoes.

I swapped emails with the Camp Admin. saying the same thing as always : not sure who owns it, we have _X_ pro tree cutter (he’s more an Arborist) to cut trees endangering our barn. We will try to clean up to better than at outset. Okey-dokey thanks for heads up reply … check.

There is so much timber on the ground, if inclined to heat with wood, you are golden Jerry. You could literally harvest dozens of cords without leaving the side of the road. That in a casual loop. Truly we could do with less freefall. But, it’s how Mother Nature weeds out the weak.

        Got wood, got water?

  5. I think it’s time that we all, particularly George with his fine analytical mind, admit that we are dealing with the ultimate Black Swan….not a black swan event, but a black swan politician in Donald Trump.
Trump has changed the game of global politics. He is historical. All the patterns and rules that fuel eager prognosticators melt away in the face of Trump’s outside-the-box brilliant decisions.
The formulas, the charts, the mathematics, the calculations, the waves of the Elliot ocean all bow to the Black Swan.
    Everything repeats until it doesn’t.
In the end patterns always caves to blue moon (as in “once in a”) novelty.

    • Think of The Donald as an orchestrator, a conductor of a very large symphony of patriots living and electric. Call me maga.

      • It would be wise to analyze the orange jesus via his MO, which he learned first hand from that slimy reptile, Roy Cohn. It was Cohns’ MO, and he perfected its use..

        Step 1 – Attack,Attack,Attack

Step 2 – Deny, Deny, Deny

Step 3 – no matter the outcome ALWAYS declare Victory, and keep declaring VICTORY.

As per usual one can expect USA to attack Iran in middle of night, when they think they are relatively safe while in Negotiations – nothing could be further from the Truth when dealing with SLIMEBALLS like tRUMPS handlers kusner&witkoff. Like the reptos they perform for, they can never be trusted..EVER. The only thing you can depend on when dealing with slimeballs and scumbags is TREASON and Back Stabbing. Count on it.

        * “This is fake phony war fought over phony nuclear weapons.
We are photonic organisms and this is a Hologram. You cant split a Photon and the only way to to split an “atom” is by gaining access to the source of the Hologram through a portal as discerned by Bruce Cathie in Harmonic 33. You can no open a portal thru science in spite of CERN’s best efforts making nuclear weapons just another science fiction fantasy like the Jetsons. They are thriving at the sites of both so said detonations, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. What happened to the fallout Jethro ? ITs a reptilian and its pet “JD Vance”..
Only thing real aboiut the war is Gas prices going up, which has further emboldened Americas feudal lords like the Walton family/Walmart into fresh price gouging. To quote Frank Zappa from Cosmic Debrie, “The price of Beef has just gone up and Ure old lady has gone down”. Sorry Jethro, someones gotta pay the bills and it wont be donny or you with Ure meager salary.

Stand by and get ready – to be priced out of Existance.”.-JH

        Cheers

        • Oh, my dear younger readers – old will talk silly shite, won’t they? Cathie had first-hand sightings, sure, but they’re the standard pilot-UFO kind — lights doing odd maneuvers, nothing that screams “I was taken aboard and shown the secrets.”
The “proof” is all pattern-matching and numerology dressed up as physics. There’s no lab experiment, no repeatable test, no peer-reviewed paper. The logic chain is basically: “I saw X on these dates/locations ? plotted it ? found nice round harmonic numbers ? therefore giant crystal grid powering UFOs.” It feels rigorous until you realize it’s selective data and creative math.
It’s the kind of thing that looks profound on a late-night AM radio show but falls apart if you poke it with actual physics or Occam’s razor.
Bottom line in pure dimestore style:
Bruce Cathie was a straight-arrow Kiwi pilot who turned a handful of solid UFO sightings into a lifelong obsession with an Earth grid that supposedly runs the whole UFO show. It’s the classic “the planet is a giant machine and we’re not supposed to notice” story — fun, mind-bending, and zero drugs required. Impressive on the surface, thin on the hard evidence underneath. Exactly the kind of book you’d grab at the checkout counter for $2.99 and argue about over coffee the next day.
If you want the quick-hit starter, Harmonic 33 is the one. Short, punchy, and pure 1960s fringe gold.

      • re: “Crime & Punishment”, Dostoevsky, 1866-2026
        feat: Bureau 1440, Moscow

“X” marks the spot. Dostoevsky’s epic fury of a novel about a man’s ’40 day’ descent into murderous madness first appeared serialized in “The Russian Messenger” in 1866. As an aside, the latter inspired two separate Arabic periodicals about things Russian published in Egypt as well as the area that was known as Syria-Palaestina in the time of Roman Emperor Hadrian.

Nowadays tourists walk along Stolyarny Lane of Dostoevsky’s St. Petersburg to follow in footsteps of his plot. A starting point is #14/7 where the author wrote his novel. One winds their way to Sennaya Square, gateway to Moskovsky Prospect. In Dostoevsky’s time, the Prospect already featured the Moscow Triumphal Gate opened in 1838 after the 1829 victorious conclusion of the Russo-Turkish (and Persian?) War.

Current day Stolyarny Lane in Moscow is described as a short thoroughfare hosting a range of choices for luxury item shoppers. As chance would have it, #40 also is publicly listed as domicile of a subsidiary of the X Holding Company, LLC., namely Bureau 1440. The firm’s website has been updated to offer it’s estimation of success vis-a-vis a latest leo satellite launch on March 23rd. An overview of the military and commercial purposed satellite constellation can be found via the following Bureau 1440 link:

hmm… just a guess… but I doubt any of this ends well..
Watching the current situation unfold, it’s difficult to see a clean or comfortable outcome. The recent incident with the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln has pushed tensions to a point where neither escalation nor retreat comes without consequences.
Stepping back now at this point would be interpreted as a humiliating loss, while pushing forward risks a much larger and far more dangerous conflict changing the landscape of the world….

All of this is happening right now at a point in time when people are already under a huge economic strain. Inflation, high costs, and uncertainty have left many feeling stretched thin unable to meet the basic cost of necessities. In the past when a society was under that kind of pressure, and there was major international crisis added another layer of instability that ordinary citizens felt immediately…. like the Weimar depression..

There’s also the broader global context I believe for us to consider. If this conflict accelerates the shift toward a more multipolar world the puppeteers pulling the string lose their standing as the global authority that has controlled the nations of the world for thousands of years, long?standing fiat financial systems could face serious challenges and a collapse of the currencies that have been the currencies to depend on.. the confidence in major fiat currencies has already been under scrutiny after the expansion of the gold backed Bric’s.

I believe further instability could deepen that uncertainty and at best with global tensions is we enter into a depression similar to the Weimar or go into currency freefall similar to Zimbabwe and Argentina..where what we think we have becomes the story my fathers grandpa told him about the Weimar becomes a reality..

To me none of this suggests an easy path forward on one side we lose our stance as the global leader and enter a time of great inflation loss of credibility of all the unsecured fiat currencies that have been called the petrol dollar…

While on the other hand if we react similar to a drowning person flailing in the water while the currents pull us under and panic has us trying to regain our position of authority..well during ww2 when we reacted we reacted with Hiroshima and Nagasaki…

It’s a moment in history where every option we look at carries extreme risk, and where the consequences we presently face (economic, political, militarily and social ) Horrific consequences could be experienced far beyond the immediate region in conflict now and expand its affect to all of us world wide…

The comment made in the past by the patriarch of modern banking….“Permit me to issue and control the money of a nation, and I care not who makes its laws.” and the loss of that historical control…the rise and fall of powers today, the shaking of the systems that seemed immovable until recently, and the exposure of structures built on pride or excess.

the book the Wizard of Oz had many historians and economists pointing out that the book eerily mirrors the monetary debates of the late 1800s, especially the fight over gold vs. silver.

In the original book on my shelf, Dorothy’s shoes are silver, not ruby.So the visual of Dorothy walking with the silver shoes on the gold road is often interpreted as the solution (silver) was there all along, but people didn’t realize its power. today we dont have that visual to rely on..instead we have a promissory note from someone saying..Its a good one folks..

The imagery I see is of the “Babylon” in scripture that isn’t just about a place; it’s about a way of operating that eventually collapses under its own weight.

It has happened before whenever man has allowed himself be seduced by the desires of the Babylon whore business model..

pray for us all..I hope my fears and the path I see is totally wrong..we weakened and neglected our infrastructure, the citizens needs and our national security while seeking temporary gains..

  10. Well homegramers we find ourselves on. Friday with the BTC 1 Ure chart forming a megaphone, and it’s loosely looking like a wykoff accumulation pattern at play. Of course would you want to be swimming without your shorts covering when the tide goes out over the weekend?

  15. Any view of your influence on the world that extends beyond that which you can see with your own eyes or feel in your gut is not real.
Get out on the middle of the oceans far from the dirt, spend a few weeks beyond the reach of the Snakepit, and find out who you actually are when minus the quicksand of ‘civilization’.
Of course this can also be found in quiet contemplation and determined moments of no-mindfulness, and being at sea is just the easy way. The Phoenicians expressed the belief that time spent at sea was not counted against your allotted lifespan.
Calm the f*%W@ down, the day begins with your thoughts, for you only. Like Andy sez.. let the Dude work it out for you.
    Give floating a chance.

  16. All the Indexes traded at record highs today and closed at records. Bitcoin broke-out to the upside – which it has been trying to do for weeks. Oil is down today around 9% on the futures. Gasoline is down 5%. Gold and Silver are up nicely.
Iran declares that the Straights are free and open., and according to Trump, they have promised too never do it again. Rumor has it that Russia is going to take all of Iran’s enriched uranium and equipment for making “The Bomb”. Lebanon and Israel have reached an agreement – doesn’t matter what agreement – the fact that they even talked is amazing. Trump is now very upbeat about his upcoming meeting with China.

Everyone and every thing is looking incredibly upbeat, positive – rainbows and unicorns. I have never seen so many agreeing on so much and getting along – all at the same time. Is Iran really going to give up two full generations of hate, threats, killing and promises to destroy ?

Is it all Smoke-n-Mirrors – or have we really made a turn towards “peace in our time” ?

Being a bit of a skeptic and a contrarian., I have serious doubts.., on all of it., but I will wait.., and listen.., and watch.

    “Stay Frosty !”

    • Nostradamus and the Age of Desolation, G. A. Stewart, 2013, Page 325

Since 2008, I have noticed many blogs referring to the inordinate amount of bloodshed and carnage that has occurred throughout history on April 19th and April 20th. I pioneered this research, and it first appeared on my website in 2008.

April 19th is the occult day of The Blood Sacrifice to the Beast. This begins the 13-day countdown to the second most sacred day for satanists, The Beltaine Festival on May 1st, which requires a “fire sacrifice”.

April 20th is Adolf Hitler’s birthday. I discovered this sacrificial two-day period while I was trying to interpret Nostradamus Quatrain I-42. It was the long bloody history prior to Adolf Hitler’s April 20th, 1889 birthday that I found so intriguing and that lends credence to its occult origins.

      • It’s always struck me as strange how some ancient traditions that originally celebrated life and the ability to sustain a community slowly transformed their practices into something far more violent. In the earliest societies, rituals were meant to honor the forces that made survival possible….. rain, soil, harvests, healthy herds.

Offerings were symbolic gestures of gratitude, a way of acknowledging that life depended on something larger than ourselves.

But over time, especially when people faced drought , famine, or fear they couldn’t explain , those symbolic acts sometimes shifted into literal sacrifices . What began as a celebration of life became twisted by desperation and misunderstanding…. Leaders or priestly classes in certain cultures added their own interpretations of what was originally a symbolic show that they could sustain themselves, often using fear to reinforce authority . The result was a distortion of the original purpose… a ritual meant to affirm life turning into one that took it.

It’s a reminder of how easily human beings can lose sight of the intention behind a tradition when fear , power , or uncertainty take hold. And it shows how important it is to remember the original meaning… the desire to honor life, not destroy it.
        sad for sure..
