ShopTalk Sunday: AI Adventures, Light Crown Delay, Tractor Solved

I have been doing a LOT of AI lately.  In fact, it has become the main “New Power Tool” around here.  At the moment, I’m using it to help the So. Florida doctors who are tracking a [communicable something] which causes rouleaux of red blood cells (RBCs stacked like “coins” which is what rouleaux means).

The second-most important use of AI is helping design the experiments plan to test by notions of the “Q of Time” that was laid out in a 2019 Peoplenomics report.  Titled (strangely) “The Q of time…”

So we were working these two areas of research around and we (me and AI) got to talking about people/human resistance to change.  People were afraid of automobiles when they were first fielded, for example. In fact, fall out between Trump and Musk is making the rounds early Sunday, so,,,

Ure asked:

Is Musk a big AI user? And does the public just not want direct answers and actions that impact existing but inefficient (but still comfortable) excess spending?

ChatGPT said:
Your observation draws an intriguing parallel between Elon Musk’s declining public approval and the challenges faced by AI adoption.

Elon Musk’s AI Involvement

Elon Musk has been deeply involved in AI development:

  • xAI: In 2023, Musk founded xAI, aiming to understand the universe’s true nature and develop AI aligned with human values.
    de.wikipedia.org
  • Neuralink: This venture focuses on creating brain-computer interfaces, integrating AI to enhance human cognitive abilities.
  • Tesla: The company has significantly increased its autonomous testing efforts, registering 224 test drivers and 104 vehicles as of December 2024, aiming to introduce a robotaxi service by the end of the year.

Public Perception and Resistance to Change

Musk’s recent initiatives, particularly his role in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), have sparked public concern:

Cost-Cutting Measures: Musk’s aggressive approach, symbolized by his appearance with a chainsaw at the Conservative Political Action Conference, has raised fears about job security and the broader implications of AI integration in government operations.

Public Disapproval: A Quinnipiac University poll indicates that 60% of voters disapprove of Musk’s handling of federal workers, reflecting unease with his methods.

Parallel with AI Acceptance

The resistance to Musk’s initiatives mirrors the broader skepticism toward AI:

  • Disruption of Comfort Zones: Both Musk’s strategies and AI technologies challenge existing, albeit inefficient, systems, leading to discomfort among those accustomed to the status quo.
  • Fear of Job Displacement: The integration of AI threatens traditional employment structures, causing public apprehension similar to reactions against Musk’s cost-cutting measures.

In summary, Musk’s declining approval ratings and the public’s cautious stance on AI stem from a common reluctance to embrace rapid, efficiency-driven changes that disrupt established norms and economic comfort.

While We’re on It…

One other “coming thing”” in AI-Land will be Amazon’s launch of Alexa Plus this summer.

Ure said: “0Which gets me to asking whether Alexa-Plus due this summer is an AWS knock-off of OpenAI or whether this will be another AI in the space?

ChatGPT said:
Amazon’s upcoming Alexa+ is a significant enhancement of its existing voice assistant, integrating advanced generative AI capabilities to offer a more conversational and personalized user experience. This development positions Alexa+ as a direct competitor to other AI systems, including OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Alexa+ introduces several new features, such as the ability to understand and respond in a more natural, human-like manner, manage complex tasks, and provide personalized recommendations by learning user preferences and habits. These advancements are made possible through the integration of large language models like Amazon’s Nova and Anthropic’s Claude.

While Alexa+ leverages Amazon’s proprietary technologies, it also reflects Amazon’s strategic investments in the AI landscape, including a substantial stake in Anthropic, an AI startup known for its Claude AI model. This investment underscores Amazon’s commitment to advancing its AI capabilities and competing with other major players in the field.

In summary, Alexa+ is Amazon’s initiative to redefine its voice assistant by incorporating advanced AI functionalities, aiming to compete directly with existing AI systems like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, rather than serving as a derivative or knock-off.”

For now, our Home Lab Research is trying to remain focused on three distinct areas of investigation:

  • The Third Derivative of Death Model (TDDM): Which links some obscure diseases (like Kuru) to mass changes in humans from The Great Flood, like Younger Dryas period. which brought cannibalism, loss of honey and other natural antibiotics to the fore.
  • Q of Time (QoT): Where experiments are pending to determine whether a multi-frequency approach can open portals into adjacent dimensions. Here, hold my lab coat.
  • The South Florida deep (nonproductive) cough which seems to cause rouleaux in large parts of the population. Like in Hollywood, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, but not West Palm that the docs have found – so far.

So lots going on and a ton to manage,

Light Crown Delay

I was going to walk you through the whole light crown construction today, but ran into a snag.  Let’s start from the beginning.

First you will need a form. A cheap plastic helmet work.  Comes with a liner:

Which you will remove.  Leaving you a shell: Inside of which are some thick, raised areas to be ground off.

Next you put a hole (step drills welcome) through the back of the LC l.ike this

(Hole on the right)

Then the adhesive backing is removed and you stick the red LED rope light around the inside of the helmet.  Except…

DAMN!!!!

The stupid adhesive came off.  So I ordered some spray adhesive because the process is: Put on with easy to work with adhesive.  Then, when the whole inside is done, add about 8 “spokes” of UV curing resin (or paint the whole inside with crystal hard resin), cure it with the UV light and it’s ready for use.

Now, I’m on hold until the spray adhesive shows up. None of the adhesives (in the Shop’s otherwise well-stocked adhesives drawer) have the right mix of fast set and easy to work with. Even with plastic gloves on.  Off to next project, anyone?

Broken Tractor Mystery

Started acting up – stalling after one second of movement.  Seemed related to the OPC (operator presence circuit).  Seat up, I spied something unusual:

See the round 60 pound pull exotic magnet on the bottom of the seat?

I instantly recognized it as the magnet that I use on a 4-foot hunk of rebar to “sweep” for lost screws in the shop.  Must have fallen out of my jacket pocket.

With the camera (and operator) in an impossible contortion, I documented what had happened:

The strong magnet hit the seat spring (yellow arrow) which prevented the seat switch (circle) from engaging and thus killing the engine in one-second.

Magnet gone (I can hear Pappy replaying from memory now, “Put my tools back…“) OK, it’s back over on the side of the metal lathe where it belongs.

Whoddah thought?

Failing Memory Dept.

Did I show you my Boat Launch Sign that I am putting on a tree overlooking a 15 foot crashing cliff above the creek out back?

I’m also planning a “No Diving” sign to put by the County Road at the creek culvert.  Water generally runs 2-4 inches deep, there.

Quirky?  Hell yeah. If you can’t have fun in life, what’s left? Clamydia?

STS is a few minutes late. But the chicken teriyaki got to marinating early…priorities are under constant review now.

Write when you get rich,

  1. well,, ok,, I guess,, so I ask the search engine from Brave search,
what does GROK say about Quinnipiac University Poll Bias,,,

    “Quinnipiac University Poll Bias
Grok does not provide specific information about the bias of Quinnipiac University polls. However, AllSides, a platform that rates media bias, has a low or initial confidence in their Center rating for Quinnipiac University as of September 2024.
This suggests that Quinnipiac University is generally perceived to have a neutral stance, but the confidence in this rating is not very high.”

you know I have had a lot of interest in the neural ink lately. I seen a video of a patient that was a totally paralyzed man that underwent neuralink chips.. to operate an exoskeleton..
    https://youtu.be/AARVY-3oDRQ?si=-ABzQiOrX4ek5Qlu
A couple years ago now I was having lunch in a favorite restaurant. in there was a young woman.. in a wheelchair working three times harder than anyone with full use of her arms and legs.If you have ever been in a wheelchair then you know just how special that is ..the vast limitations that we with full use take for granted each and every day. I know when I was in the chair how limited life is.. the two inch lip on the shower stall could might as well be mount everest.. narrow isles.. then the obvious notice of others personal hygiene. being the nosey one that I am I asked what happened.. she told me her story of the horrific accident she was in that left her totally paralyzed.. her goal to become a motivational speaker to others in her situation of not giving up. that they can have a full life and be a credit .. Then I asked why aren’t you in a power chair.. she had the use of her arms just no feeling in them..She said that’s one goal of hers get a chair so she wasn’t totally dependent on everyone.. that really hit home I will never forget how exhilarating it was to get the scooter..I was free.. learning how to walk…A major achievement was making it to the curb.. enough about my journey.. would you like one? yes someday when I can save money.. well it just so happened..when everyone was thinking pancreatic cancer.. I bought a power chair.. had it in the box.. so I loaded it up and gave it to her.. this interested me though.. another young engineer had the exact same injury she did..wanting to not be a burden he designed an exoskeleton.. and was able to walk keep his muscles and body moving.. the Phoenix was born..
    https://youtu.be/WOni91MWKeM?si=E9SKBRplDpcWCOGD
I checked everywhere on what was available to guide her along let that butterfly emerge.. you can get anything if your in the right social class but nationally there’s very little available.

The device, which involves implanting a chip in the brain, aims to interpret neural activity and could potentially help with conditions like Alzheimer’s by restoring or enhancing brain function
For Alzheimer’s, the technology could assist in early-stage cases by monitoring brain activity and providing insights into neural degeneration. It might also help slow the progression of the disease by stimulating specific brain regions or enhancing memory functions3. However, its effectiveness for advanced Alzheimer’s remains uncertain, and there are ethical and safety concerns due to the invasive nature of the procedure”)

that’s the full Neuro link explanation..
imagine having the use of not only your brain but the vast amount of knowledge that is stored away in books ( wisdom the true treasures) have a book uploaded to your brain in seconds .. ( hell congress could use these to know instantly what’s in those thousand page bills that they refuse to read or write…no more surprise you’ve been had moments bend over spread your cheeks cause here comes the big burrito) or bringing someone that normally would be a dependent on others to independent and viable asset to society..
the smartest woman I ever met.. sweet dam smart.. fast unable to walk very far.. she weighed almost 800 lbs. long gone now but the impact she had on me will last the rest of my life..
Consider Stephan Hawking.. how much more could he have done..
    amazing

      • Oh my… I think its his magic chair.. heck we all have one..you sit back and watch a ball game..you instantly know how the coach and players are screwing up.. the day was watching a news show and they brought up the virgin earth challenge and ideas a scientist brought up that if we fling mirrors into outer space and point the sun away from earth and back to the sun..or putting a carbon fiber from the space station to earth then drag a filter up and down to remove CO2… after I wiped the coffee up that shot out my nose.. and quit laughing .. I sent in my decades old rants of solar towers handing out solar kits to anyho.downer or business willing to install them. CO2 filtration on every lamppost using activated clay filtration and greenscaping our concrete jungles and air wells for dry regions where the challenge of fresh water..I was told those ideas were stupid but now that coffee filter going up and down from earth to the space station..now that’s a good one folks..they actually pay those morons money.. but then I’m the moron..sitting on the bottom thinking my god this is our future.. old ladies with a buzzards cackled to their breasts listening to the golden oldies C rap music..

  3. As I lay on the couch reading about the NIR crown I have 54w of NIR coming straight down on my head from 4′ above from something like this but with more freqs:

    https://a.co/d/aTo9oBr

And 3 others symetrically spaced in the living room on ceiling for over 200w in this small room. Creates a warm feeling/place. I never want to turn them off as it looks so cold.

The 660nm output is close to the 670 which is good for the retina. You can’t look dirextly at them, way too bright but the whole room is full of scattered NIR.

    • Lol lol.. so what if he is? would it really make any difference..
WELCOME…….keep up the good work your doing..
I absolutely adore that the vice president and soon musk have their kids around ..amen..let the kids see how daddy does it what better learning example is there than dad and child.. do unto others..and they are teaching them the Right way..honorable and allowing them to maintain their own personal identity as a child…good family values…

    Folks,
The US Consulate in Nuuk, Greenland opened in 2019 under the first Trump Administration. This past week amid sunny skies a crowd headlined by Inuit drummers gathered outside the simple red-timbered structure on Aalisartut Aqqutaa (Fishermen of the Rock Garden) chanting “No is No!”. The building also receives mail for the Joint Arctic Command led by a Danish Army General. Here is a link to the video posted by ‘War Time Media’ on Telegram:

    https://t.me/wartimedia/94541

The building which now houses the US Consulate had previously given service to Royal Greenland A/S, a fishing cooperative. The latter spawned from its mothership, The Royal Greenland Trading Department founded in 1784. It enjoyed monopoly governance of Greenlandic settlement and trade by its Danish-Norwegian government overseers until 1950. Ventures included mining cryolite at Ivituut (Grassy Place) until a synthesized equivalent was developed. I didn’t know that the mineral is close to being invisible in water.

Speaking of invisible links, yesterday as noted by cb_doge The Doge attended a public dinner at Mar-a-Lago with the Canadian mother of four of his children. Ms. Shivon (God is gracious) Zilis (Green [Anil-god of the air and wind] ). According to “Wikipedia”, she was director of operations and special projects at Neuralink until 2023. Then her situation at Shield AI was elevated to board member. Again per “Wiki”, Shield AI develops AI-powered solutions including drone swarm research for various arms of the US military. China placed the company on its export control list 11 days ago. Here is a link to the short cb_doge video clip from Mar-a-Lago on “X”.

  7. ‘Tis the season for tractor repair. I reattached a main lift cylinder on the front end loader this afternoon. Only made one sequence error, and I only lost a couple of minutes. Otherwise, it all went back together smoothly, and the new cylinder seal held pressure. Nothing else sprouted a leak.
The redbud trees are starting to bloom. My oldest pear tree is in full bloom. There is one small field that is too dry for hay to grow, but it is full of Indian Paintbrush and smaller amounts of native flowers every spring. I had not mowed it, so I got out and mowed, before the Paintbrush sprouts. Unless we get a sudden cool down, I expect the flowers to be coming up directly.
I was down sick with a fever early in the week. Not completely sure what it was. Since I telecommute, I didn’t miss any work, but I was miserable for a couple of days. I am following the new unified virus isolation protocol. I am past the home isolation stage; I should wear a mask in public until maybe Tuesday. Seems reasonable. I restock Tuesday.

  8. “In summary, Musk’s declining approval ratings and the public’s cautious stance on AI stem from a common reluctance to embrace rapid, efficiency-driven changes that disrupt established norms and economic comfort.”

I don’t think so. I believe Musk’s declining approval ratings (since when does ANYONE care how popular a President’s subordinate is?) are the direct result of 3 million government employees fearing for their jobs, and 20 million Democrat enablers, strategists, and shills whose income stream is directly dependent on the aforementioned, losing not only their buckage but their integrity, and having to endure public exposure of a level of graft and dishonesty so egregious and massive as to defy description.

A serious shortcoming I notice with ChatGPT is it cannot “comprehend” nuance. Musk’s very high popularity from Rightists and low popularity from Leftists are significantly influenced by the facts that governmental employees are overwhelmingly Democrats, and so is the mainstream media. The fact he is uncovering a lot more abuse than inefficiency so far, and the abuse leads to funding for social abuses in other countries and for “astroturf” “demonstrations” and other goings-on by Leftists in the U.S.)

In case you haven’t noticed, the demonstrations have been very subdued, except for the (Arab financed) pro-Palestinian / anti-Israeli shitshows at colleges and other institutes of lower learning.

I should think there would be a way to make up for this shortcoming in ChatGPT. However, I don’t trust it because it demonstrated a serious bias toward political Leftism and our Democratic Party (see the Trump-Harris test.) Accordingly, and since I know just enough about advanced programming to be dangerous, I know that that bias had to be programmed into the AI’s core. The scary thing about AI is it will be only as “good” as the morals of its programmer, and as it “becomes smarter,” any moral or character flaws its programmers allowed into their coding will be infinitely magnified.

George, I would like to see the results, if you were to find the time to interview Grok3 with the same questions…

The other thing about AI is it is dependent on the information that is available to it. If you read the above (may have to do it out loud), you will notice it is either a sales pitch or statement of purpose posted somewhere by Amazon. It was not generated by ChatGPT. It was copied, word-for-word, from Amazon.

I would absolutely NOT do this. If the sign is there, some idiot kid, or drunk (or both), will do a swan dive into the puddle and either

    a) break his neck
    b) drown, or
    c) come up shooting everything in sight…

I was at a truck salvage..where they sell damaged or refused merchandise.. one time when I was wandering through it.. there stood two street lamps on posts …my ..they were nice…I walked past then stopped and went back.. Road Construction orange barrel hell..how funny would it be to set them up out in the middle of nowhere.. road construction would shut down a highway ..start work then relocate further away..leaving the road closed off nightmare..so set the two light up with a photo cell that when the auto starts to approach the light the light changes to red.. how long would someone stop in the middle if nowhere and wait…lol lol lol.. needless to say I never did it..just thought how funny it would be…
