Retail Matters on Hilbert Space Tuesday – Electrocultured

I know: this will seem like going out on a limb.  This parallel between how things operate in Hilbert Space draws a straight line to how “news” operates.

What it is, Homey

Hilbert space is basically math’s way of describing an insanely vast, abstract “room” that can have not just the usual three dimensions like height, width, and depth, but an infinite number of them. Picture a regular graph where you plot points using x and y coordinates; now imagine you could keep adding brand-new, completely independent directions forever—each one representing a totally different aspect of something complex, like a sound wave, a quantum particle’s possible states, or any wiggly mathematical function. So, is Hilbert the stuff of science fiction or social media, or the public relations industry?

In Hilbert, the simple vector stuff—add things together, measure angles between them, or find how much they overlap—still works. But, it also works for wildly complicated stuff that wouldn’t fit in ordinary 4D space.

Hilbert is the backstage where quantum physics does its magic, letting scientists calculate probabilities of where a particle might show up or how waves interfere. Now, hold on tight…

Today’s news flows are a perfect real-world Hilbert space because every breaking story now lives in an infinite-dimensional mess of angles: one dimension for the raw facts, another for left-wing spin, another for right-wing outrage, while still more dimensions become TikTok memes, conspiracy threads, AI-generated deepfakes, foreign influence ops, and the emotional “vibe” each platform pushes.

The actual event is like a single vector in that endless space—only ever revealing a tiny projection (possibly only harmonics) onto the few dimensions you already like. Dimensional choices collapse the Big Picture into “thought-sized” bits.

Here in Hilbert World, everyone has an axe to grind. PR firms, politicians, and financial giants all present false dimensions seeking to collapse reality to fit their agendas.

Using those dimensions – making that choice – clicking on a headline or sharing a post –  collapses the whole mess into your personalized reality. Orthogonal dimensions (measurements that contradict your view) stay invisible and never interfere. Or you’ll rage-post against them.  See how the puppet strings work?

That’s why the same story often feels like completely different truths depending on who’s watching: we’re all measuring the same infinite news-space from wildly different bases. The “black hole” in education is that “dimensioning choices” collapse reality.

Understanding how Hilbert works – or POSSIBLY how totally crazy Ures truly is – allows us to accurately analyze daily event streams. Lest we become even more “spaced out.”

Given on the one hand that Trump says Iran talks will conclude ‘and everybody’s going to be happy’  While on the other No Iranian delegation traveled to Pakistan so far for 2nd round of US talks, Iran state TV says, we don’t see how the WaPo could possibly be any more confused than any of the rest of us.,

Now that we’ve warmed up, let’s turn to money matters.  Specifically Retail Sales.

Advance estimates of U.S. retail and food services sales for March 2026, adjusted for seasonal variation and holiday and trading-day differences, but not for price changes, were $752.1 billion, up 1.7 percent (±0.4 percent) from the previous month, and up 4.0 percent (±0.5 percent) from March 2025. Total sales for the January 2026 through March 2026 period were up 3.7 percent (±0.4 percent) from the same period a year ago. The January 2026 to February 2026 percent change was revised from up 0.6 percent (±0.4 percent) to up 0.7 percent (±0.2 percent).

Around the Ranch: Cloudy Electroculture

Off to work in the greenhouse (the lean-to/garden room) next. That’s where our electroculture experiments are running.  More on those in tomorrow’s Peoplenomics report.

But the main thing now is watching tomatoes and light. See, the weather through the end of the month around here will be most cloudy.  Maybe sun Thursday and next Tuesday. Which means what for our “science project” that’s using electrical waveforms to pump plant growth?

Cloudy weather influences how well plants perform through a mix of reduced sunlight for photosynthesis (the process turning light, CO2, and water into sugars).  There are a few beneficial side effects like cooler temps, higher humidity, and less evaporation stress. Clouds are good?  To an extent: less direct sun can slow growth and lower yields in sun-hungry crops by cutting photosynthetically active radiation, but the softer, diffuse light that filters through clouds often reaches deeper into leaves and canopies more evenly.

This has been measured to boost total plant productivity by 10-20% in dense vegetation—while also curbing heat damage and water loss. Solves my greenhouse cooling issues, but plays hell with fruiting of tomatoes and peppers.

In the persistently gray Pacific Northwest (our Seattle roots, as it were), frequent clouds fuel lush forests, ferns, and berry farms by keeping soils moist without scorching summers.  Not big flower rep, though, except Portland pretending it’s the Rose City while the absolute grower truth is Tyler, Texas down here.

In contrast, “arid extra dry” spots like Arizona’s Sonoran Desert see rare cloudy days as a lifeline for saguaros and mesquite, easing drought stress that clear skies would worsen; and in sunny Mediterranean zones such as California’s Central Valley or southern Spain, extra spring cloud cover can actually help young grapevines and olive trees avoid early heat waves, though prolonged overcast later on risks poorer fruit ripening.

The current forecast is calling for less than an additional inch of rain for the month. Which will put 2026 year to date around (or just under) 10-inches.  Last year at the end of April?  18.86 inches while 2024 recorded 27.81 inches!

If you live the “rented life” – or if you are buying a box to live in – it’s not the same as living out here and building your own Earthship. 

In at least a few Hilbert dimensions, being average matters.  But not everyone sees Drought coming or the need for radiation-safe growing space as high priorities.

But yes – average matters.

        today they drilled into an underwater volcano vent, attached a device to it that converts the volcanic vent into an thermo electric engine for charging underwater submarines. i shit you not.

        i posted a pic on my X account. it turns the volcanic vent into some sort of thermodynamic engine that produces some ungodly amount of electricity to charge these under water subs run on hybrid batterys like tesla cars. but a lot lot longer range.

        the goal is to deploy deap ocean Atonomous robot submarines run by their own AI so they can hook up to these docking stations to recharge their batteries. they will roam around the ocean floor like satalights in the sky do, maping the ocean floor and commicate it back to base any and all changes.

  11. Hate to keep going back to Isael/US vs Iran … but as time grows shorter until the REAL FACEOFF happens I get more and more nervous.

    For some reason many US and Israeli based commentators /posters seem to think that Iran thinks it is losing the War and thus WANTS to negotiate. NOTHING could be further from the reality of the situation.

    Iran BELIEVES IT IS WINNING THE WAR!! That it’s Rope-A-Dope strategy (ala Mohammed Ali’s strategy at his “Rumble In The Jungle” fight) is actually WINNING the longer term War for them.

    Iran’s leadership, both the Religious types AND the Military which are playing a LONG game not the short one that most politicians play, in their heart believe that Iran is WINNING the current conflict and sees no need to make any sort of deal with Israel/US unless it truly is one that creates a level playing field wrt military and economic dynamics.

    Of course US posters and most analysts who are only looking at the War from a short term perspective keep SCREAMING that Iran is Losing the other side in this War, and in War the OTHER SIDE always has a Vote, don’t agree.

    SO … is the US winning or losing the SHORT War?
    SO … is the US winning or losing the LONG War?

    Without getting into the weeds I will note that NONE of the original objectives of the Israel/US War against Iran, at least as well as we can determine them since our government really never stated them as they went to War other than Israel was going to attack Iran so WE HAD TO ATTACK THEM TOO.

    Those original objective apparently revolved around three issues:
    1) The killing off of the Religious/Military leadership of Iran
    …. Our joint attacks have clearly FAILED wrt that objective
    2) The replacement of the existing governmetn of Iran with one that would be civilian and led by people who were favorable to the US and Israel
    …. That has clearly NOT happened
    3) Iran’s nuclear material would leave Iran and Iran would permenately renounce any enrichment of nuclear material and destroy all of the means it had to do such
    … That clearly has NOT happened, though we did make a military attempt to breach their storage area when the Iranian would not voluntarily give us their enriched material nor destroy some centrifuges losing 2 C-130’s and at least 2 helicopters inthe process.

    So far EVERY GOAL that the US set out to accomplish at the beginning of the War, which was to last only 5 days, has NOT YET been fulfilled in the 52 days we have now been engaged in fighting this War.

    At the moment we still have plenty of time for fighting this War, the active part of Iraq lasted 15 years and the active part of Afghanistan lasted almost 20 years … IF the American Public will allow this War to be fought that long.

    The NEXT phase of this War is about to begin … the Cease Fire talks are merely PR by both parties, nothing remotely serious is about to be conceded by either party. That NEXT PHASE is going to turn this so far “skirmish” into a full fledged WAR with all that entails.

    Pop your popcorn, tighten your seatbelts, like Ali in Africa coming off the ropes this War is about to get very interesting and could well mark the visible ending of American Hedgemony on the greater world stage. (we have already lost it on the Industrial Production stage and are now more and more behind on the R&D stage)

      Then comes the famous final line, which is not just another short motto but a longer apocalyptic paragraph:

      “In persecutione extrema… Petrus Romanus” — “In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church… Peter the Roman…” This is the line many people tried to map to Francis. But that was always speculative. Francis never took the name Peter, and the phrase is broad enough that interpreters could force-fit several candidates.

      the prophecy was never reliable in the first place,

      “Peter the Roman” is meant symbolically and not as a one-pope terminal slot.

      Historically, the simplest answer is still the mainstream one: it’s a late forgery with increasingly vague slogans after publication.

        The Olivetans, or Order of Our Lady of Mount Olivet (OSB Oliv), are a congregation of Benedictine monks founded in 1313 by St. Bernard Tolomei and recognized in 1344.

        Another site I read that gives the Malachi list the once over says that “Peter The Roman” could be a catch all that applies to all subsequent popes, as it is generic relative to the other entries on the list.

        I was enrolled at a Jesuit-run college when both Popes John Paul were elected, and classmates discussed this prophecy. It might have been partly due to the way that “Petrus Romanus” gets a paragraph instead of a two or three word label, that caused some to question whether that Pope would follow immediately after “Gloria Olivae”, or whether there might be one or more undescribed Popes in between.

    well I dumped the half container of cottage cheese in the pan if milk.. stirred it up.. tossed in a tsp salt…
    in a frying pan I put a couple tbsp. of butter.. some grated onions and a tbsp..of Italian herbs..( tones spaghetti mix )
    sauteed the herbs till done then put the milk to get to almost boiling take it off stirring it..scooped the curds out put in the cooled pan with butter and hers.. turned the stove on low stirring the curds in the butter til coated..drop an egg in it while stirring the curds coating them salt .. take the herbed salted cuts out put them in the form press..
    herbed farmers cheese ready by supper time..
