No question about it, the insanity of the stock market seems to be inexplicable. But, in one sense, it’s not. America has a savings problem.
The problem simplifies to “Where do you park money?
I look at the problems faced by our kids – well, now 50-ish, maybe “kids” isn’t the right word. But “Where to save money” has almost no good answers, anymore.
- Banks are bad. For the simple reason, Banks (with tiny exceptions) don’t pay anything near the rate of inflation. CPI says inflation (even less food and energy) is running 3.2 percent (all-items) and 4.0 (all items less food and energy). While a few banks, like Synchrony and Discover are paying just over 5 percent, the BNBs (big national banks) are generally paying less than one percent.
- Crypto has a problem, too. Because, as we have often reminded, formal governments hate competition. We see no happy-ending for the cryptos, except as a kind of second-class money scheme. While at the same time, we can almost begin to see a foundation for a government attack on crypto coming in stories like U.S. Senator Labels Crypto as a Threat, Links to North Korea’s Nuclear Funding – Coin Edition. That Bitcoin. even this morning around $44,000, is still down from a $65,000 peak two years ago. Oh, and it requires power, computers, and clearing. Yet the relentless marketing of alt.money prevails. Uphold Research Lead Predicts $200K Per Bitcoin In “Very Short Time”.
- Is Paying Down Debt an Option? Obviously, there are two things that can be done with money: Buy something that will go up in value. Or, reduce other obligations (like home mortgage debt) to increase cash flow. But again, there are problems. Paying down student loans certainly looks viable, but why if the free-spending war party wants the public to pay? Just this week Biden forgives another $5 billion in student loans. Who qualified? (usatoday.com). Why pay anything off if Uncle is in for a bailout?
- Buying a House is iffy, too. It has become both an economic as well as a political problem. On the political side Biden Has a Housing Problem Which Hurts His 2024 Re-Election Bid. But, being free-spenders, here’s the solution: Stick you with the bill as Biden Wants to Give 500,000 Americans Money to Buy Homes. Once upon a time, we advised our offspring to buy homes. Now? With socialism rampant, wars in the wings, and social disaster at every turn, the decision is much harder. Especially because local and state governments prevent home ownership through thievery-style taxes. Miss property tax payments and you’ll soon discover the real home owners. Still, the best is “interesting” because Home Prices Up More Than 20 Percent Since Biden Took Office. With student loan debts, cost of their own children, though, who has the money for a down payment now, though?
- Reducing Energy Footprint: This is the track we’re on with the new book on Personal Arks being serialized on our Peoplenomics.com subscriber site. We can’t see very many honest climate champions out there. Big Shots who talk climate and ride their personal jets around disgust us. But the heresy is deep: UN climate summit serving burgers, BBQ as it calls for US to stop eating meat. For some people (like me) eating meat is one of the few workable answers to genetic carbotoxicity.
- Buy a New Car? Again, no reason to jump. Electric Vehicles are all the hype. But we need to build several nuke plants a year to make it workable. Otherwise, not enough power go to around, because the Grid is already failing. Major grid operator warns legal agreement to shutter coal plant will devastate electric reliability. While there’s unlimited talk about the potential for improved energy (as in Weather intelligence and cutting-edge tech is boosting grid capacity by 30%) That’s not going much further than make up for the nat-gas hate being laid on America by the Bidenistas. It won’t come near the all-electric future happy talk demands. Besides, there’s the net carbon calculations, most of which aren’t totally honest. Windpower sounds good, until you go through a few ENSO/el Nino cycles and get real averages. And then start building windfarms that don’t need complete overhauls every 10-years. Well past the issue of no power at night which – owning 30-some solar panels here, we are all too familiar with.
Why even the battery technology is problematic. Because lithium chemistry is not suited to cold weather, so we have remained on lower cost (and very recyclable) lead-acid technology while work in the chem labs continues.
Don’t me to get off on a tangent, ahead of the Jobs Data. But there are many moving pieces to a modern economy. And for many, what seem like the “right answers” today may turn out to be flat-ass losers tomorrow.
We will be doing a lot of hydroponics in 2024 and perhaps add another dozen (used) panels. As life on earth evolves, though, the “safe” answers are disappearing and everything’s becoming a calculation. Where “all the math becomes variables.”
Jobs Problem
We saw the problem coming, earlier this week, when we explained that Jobs could turn into a Buy the Rumor, Sell the News event.
The JOLTS report looked pretty good, ADP was weak (good for Fed rate cut hyperbole) and Challenger job cuts were up. But just now, the Moment of Truth waltzed in:
Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 150,000 in October, and the unemployment rate changed little at 3.9 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Job gains occurred in health care, government, and social assistance. Employment declined in manufacturing due to strike activity.
Both the unemployment rate, at 3.9 percent, and the number of unemployed persons, at 6.5 million, changed little in October. However, since their recent lows in April, these measures are up by 0.5 percentage point and 849,000, respectively.
Among the major worker groups, the unemployment rates for adult men (3.7 percent), adult women (3.3 percent), teenagers (13.2 percent), Whites (3.5 percent), Blacks (5.8 percent), Asians (3.1 percent), and Hispanics (4.8 percent) showed little change in October.”
Which is a crock-o-shit. Wanna know what the real change in employment was? Look at the BLS online database!
Holy Crap!!! 747,000 more people working in latest monthly database confessional!
No Fed cuts for a LONG TIME at this rate. Markets lies are about to fail, as we figure it.,
And then there’s the matter of the CES (current employment situation) job Birth-Death Model. This is where jobs are “estimated” in and out of existence.
As a result, we can’t be sure what will happen next. Because there’s so much English on the economic billiards table. How much influence is felt by pending elections? How much is based on repeatable economic measurements?

Nuts, Trees, and Crooks
Besides Housing flailing, Ukraine falling apart, trying to pick a war with Iran, gender peddling, and what not, we’re disappointed to the extreme in president Houseplant’s offspring. Because the nut doesn’t fall far from the (parental) tree.
Hunter Biden faces 9 criminal charges in federal tax case, claims political bias in unprecedented move. Hunter Biden’s indictment has everyone saying the same thing about the US election | indy100. And Hunter Biden indicted for evading $1.4m in tax: What we know and what next? | Politics News | Al Jazeera.
We reported Hunter as a yet-to-be-convicted crook, back when the laptop went missing. We also hold Joe Biden is the mobster-in-chief because he “talked” to so many of Hunters protégés. It all stinks, Biden’s gotta go when election time gets here. Though, in a most honest country, the Biden impeachment the (limp dick GOP can’t seem to get rolling) would already be an accomplished fact and the war party would be thrown out of power.
War Party?
Oh, hell yeah.
- U.S. Embassy in Baghdad is under attack, points to Pro-Iranian forces – Shafaq News
- “Nuclear” bomb from Russia: “We will decide by referendum the annexation of the whole of Ukraine” – Will the Army of “New Russia” continue the war? (Ignore the shrill use of the word “nuclear” – it is, however, a big deal if Russia decides to keep whipping NATO’s ass and goes west of the Dnieper petroleum reserves.
- And there’s now Israel about to take-back, we figure, all of Gaza because of the new offshore energy fields off that coast: Israel-Hamas war: Benjamin Netanyahu issues warning to Hezbollah against war, says will turn Beirut into Gaza. Which we assume is because Lebanon (and Syria which is not a state) has offshore oil and gas, too…
But don’t worry about wars: USA can guarantee military aid to Ukraine for several more weeks. Republicans are trying to cut back the war spending, but no bets on that, either.
Yep, overall, a fine kettle of fish. Then again, it’s Friday and that was always “fish day” when I was going up. Back when there were lots of fish in the world, before plastic islands, long-liners, and ocean-stripping, Corexit, and more…

ATR: Attack on Rex Research
I was shocked when I visited Robert Nelson’s Rex Research site today to read this note:
“Dear Reader: On 9 October 2023, Las Vegas police & Clark County ( NV ) ‘Code Enforcement’ kicked in the gate w/o a valid warrant and proceeded to raze the rancho property where I was sheltering & doing cleanup while repairing my vehicle, (see the Aragonite Project, Mojave Mojo, etc. , v.i. ).
Everything there was looted, confiscated, towed, or scooped up and dumpstered without any regard for “rights”or inventory — including my hazardous alchemy reagents, equipment, tools, clothes, etc — particularly, and the only ‘thing’ that mattered to me or civilization : 2 laptops containing all Rex Research data, 12000+ pdf books, &c in the process of transfer & uploads, and paper notes.
The ’04 Pathfinder was towed, and I was arrested for alleged ‘obstruction’ ( witnessing ) and released 12 hours later @ 2 a.m., dressed in rags ( cleaning the chicken coop @ the moment of invasion ), with only wallet and phone.
I was unable to maintain this website until recently with a replacement laptop to reconstruct my online existence… ( now Nov. 20: plus a $21 thrift store bike — a real deal — a bus pass, a change of clothes, &c. , all senior discounted ). At least I’m a prepper with friends, in good health as I slouch towards Bethlehem, and not yet in Gaza… Via con Dios, Pilgrim.
And I thank you who donate to help here.

Robert, like me, is one of the “old men of the web” and he could sure use more than one “hand up” at this point. He publishes, as you know, a ‘civilization restart CD’ with tons of arcane knowledge on it. I’m sending him some money and an offer to help with the website…
More than 40-years of digital contributions and stewardship and he gets what? Amazingly unjust how the dotmocracy/digitocracy runs, ain’t it. But, as we’ve said many time, no accounting for why bad people make lots of money and poor people don’t…
OK, so why was I visiting his site for that link?
Our new load of Popular Mechanics CDs came in this week. If you can’t think of anything that “needs doing” around your place, a cruise through back issues (like a century worth) or the back collection of Mother Earth News from 1970 is sure to tickle your fancy (*unless you’re dead).
Go read an old Pop Mech article (from an issue like this one) and you’ll find all kinds of useful minutia. Like that forest fires are most common on the south side of hills, for example. The Internet Archive has a bundle of ’em here. I bought the archived DV’s from eBay because it would take several hours, if not a couple of days of downloading and file saving and… It was cheaper to hire that by simply buying the collections.
This matters, because in my new book about Personal Arks (prepping with a purpose) we’re about to delve into the “knowledge engineering” part of things.
New ham radio antenna finally got on the air this morning. This is a 1.5 kw (PEP) off-center-fed dipole (OCFD). Leaving only two ham radio antenna projects remaining.
With a north-south OCFD at 40-feet and an east-west at an average of 75 ft. (thanks to drone-flying antenna lines up) only a new ultra-long Zepp with ladder line and repairs on the 3/4 element beam (rotator replacement and trap work) remain.
Those will have to await my son’s next visit, since old men single-handing down 55-foot crank up towers, even when lowered to 22 ft (and a 10-foot mast over that) is not a recommended longevity practice. Or, it will get done when the Major comes to visit in the spring.
Weather has been great. Sure we may get rain today. But with temps around 77 for a high? Does anyone care this time of year?
Great Tomatoes report: Did our store run for the next couple of weeks and came how with some fresh-sliced deli meat. Which turned into one of the most amazing sandwiches in a while thanks to some super-sweet Beefsteak tomatoes out of the lean-to greenhouse.
See how I’m cheating? Running 240-watts of growlights over the plants before the sun shows up. Which is won’t today because of clouds… But they were another one of those “Hedge locally for food production” buys on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. 240 watts over 20-some feet of growing space seems to help a good bit.

Got Ripple ?
BCN You mean the only crypto with legal clarity that it’s not a security? Yeah I fully expect XRP to flippen ETH in this cycle and BTC by 2030.
And even the CEO of Ripple owns BTC. If youve been following the devlopment of Xrapid back in 2017 it was developed along with project cobalt and done with the idea of transacting in BTC using XRPL. Transfer in seconds for pennies using the SpendTheBits app. Say didnt they just get a banking liscense in El Salvador?

Seems like a catch-22 to me. The more debt you pay down or more efficient you are with spending, the more money you have to save. Maybe we need to start thinking long term generations. Personally, I’m putting aside what I can for my grandchildren’s benefit to reduce the burden on their parents.
As for how to save, the root problem is risk management. Unfortunately, everything is carrying too much risk passed on to the consumer.

‘Where to park money’
Look at the historic record. Time machine back to 1952.
One person gets a line job at General Motors.
One person buys a pizza oven.
One person buys and buries a sack of gold coins.
It goes on….
The only person ahead is the pizza oven. Pizza oven parked their loot in income producing machines. Pizza oven was able to build the cost of inflation into their products.
How much is a bucket of KFC (1952) chicken, $50.00 by now? The line worker is no better off from 1952 even though KFC profits are more than ever for the owner of the grease fryers. From grease fryers to limousines.
1976, Carter this and that but Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak bought plywood and put together computers. They could have buried numismatic coins and made a bundle in 1980.

Ill take the sack of Gold coins in 1952 @ $34.60 per Oz.
Say there were 25 1 oz gold Coins in sack..25×34.60 =$865 in 1952 dollars.
Today that sack of 25 1 oz Gold coins = 25 x $2020 = $50,000
the dollars been watered down to $9869 in 2023 dollars versus the original $865 in 1952.
too dam bad the SSP didnt release blockchain in the 50’s..
dare say you can buy a pizza oven or two today with the sack o Gold and still have some leprechaun bait left afterwards.
Dare I say you could buy a Pizza in 2010 with 10,000 BTC? Today you can buy the Pizza oven and rent the restuarant space to house said oven with tables and chairs in a strip mall for ONE BTC today.

( I don’t have one but will for an xmas gift.. )the thing is even myself.. I have the equipment for modern but very little for primitive survival.. so you put a few cases of food on the shelf.. can you replace it.. how about a garden.. do you have a smudge pot.. if you cannot get any diesel .. or how about alcohol.. have a still .. even if you make oil out of plastic garbage you still have to distill it to the proper product your looking for..
do you know how a coleman camp stove works.. many buy them but very few know how easy it is to make.. the same with an oil stove.. easy.. hydrogen.. what if there isnt’ any batteries.. or power source.. granted the one I will show the grandkids is only three volts and two hundred mili amps of power.. but what if.. do you have an oil press..
I have had enough rotten times in my life.. that I learned how to make a lot of the guilty pleasures.. got some chocolate razzberry wine in right now.. had a small cup the other day to see how it is progressing.. it is my xmas wine this year.. the next batch will be the eight thousand year old recipe…. it is going to be pretty good when it is done..
my kids today .. wouldn’t walk across the street much less miles.. a report the other day said that a bug out camp should be less than fifty miles away.. or two or three days walk.. longer if you are pulling a wagon.. guns.. how many bullets would you need.. and for what.. I figure for hunting food.. the deer and wild game that survive will be looking for whatever shelter they can find to..
like I have sai times… offer someone a bag of gold that has to walk fifty miles for a drink of water.. or a tanker full of water and a truck full of food.. and see which one they pick.. want a gift idea.. I am giving to these below..

Back in Carter days Molly bought a mop and created a maid service, Molly Maid’s. Now Molly pulls revenue of $471,200,000 per year. All from riding a mop! The 1952 sack of gold would have to be 235,600 oz. to beat Molly.

Illegal for US citizens to buy a sack of gold coins in 1952. Gold wasn’t legal to buy and own in the US for individuals (except for jewlry and gold plated this or that) until 1974.
As best as I can recall it wasn’t until gold was made legal to own in the US that it’s price started to climb out of that $30-$40 an ounce range … and it’s biggest percentage climb went from that point in time to the end of the high inflation times under Carter about 6-7 years later. Since then it has gone up and down but overall calculating it’s yearly percentage “profit” based on it’s current pricing compared to it’s late 1970’s early 1980’s peak is nothing great.
Either Armstrong or Pretcher once pointed out that gold only greatly outperforms other assets for 2 to 3 years out of any 100 year period. Other than those narrow explosive windows it is basically a DEAD investment vehicle. (disclaimer …. NOT investment advice)
Ever since I read that report on the history of Gold’s price movements I have called Gold the “Devil’s Metal” …. since it seems to be mostly used as a scam to suck in “investors” so those marketing it can make money off the Marks.
(if you are going to play “gold” the place to go wrt gold imo would be the well run miners since when the price goes up their profits go up by a HUGE multiple – very very hgh fixed costs but much lower actual operating costs per ounce- much like the hotel business, and when the price goes down the miners can quickly go to being in the red again due to their very high fixed costs now eating up their cash flow)
From 01/01/2000 to 2023 gold up 693%

I don’t have my TI Bus Analyst Calculator handy but that works out to be somewhere near 4%/year COMPOUNDED ANNUALLY my mind tells me after years of working with PV’s. (just went on line and on line calculator shows it to be 3.968%/year compounded annually)
Not a barn burner return particularly in 1980/81 since at the time one could get zero interest US Treasury Notes discounted that would pay 10+% interest compounded annually with a 30 year duration (no tax due until cashed in unless an accrual basis taxpayer).
Gold … “The Devil’s Metal” (commodity of choice for lots of the scam artists to market to their marks)
Correction … brain fart time above:
Actually 43 years (1980 to 2023) … so RoR works out to be 2.1% per year compounded annually. (WAY below the compounded inflation rate since 1980)
Gold: “The Devil’s Metal”
NOBODY who has functional brain synapses buys gold as an investment. Gold (or any other PM) is a storehouse of value. An ounce of gold today, will buy roughly what an ounce of gold would buy 10, 100, or 1000 years ago — no less, and certainly no more.
Even if’fn you play to capitalize on short-term gains, the 28% will kill you. Gold is not a “yellow dog” or as you put it “devil’s metal.” It has a purpose. Trying to bend it to suit some other purpose is futile, and often expensive. Gold and silver are something you carry a few hundred or thousand (face) of, to move to the front of the line, when everything goes to shit, and the local pantry has 1000 loaves of bread for 3000 people. Despite William Devane’s TV ads, gold is not an investment, and it has no business in an IRA or 401-k, either…
hmm.. that was in 1952… in 1975 I thought I would be a rich man if I ever made 4.00 an hour a new car was what two thousand dollars…. in 1952 the average wage was what $2,300 for a top paying job.. an average laborer was about half of that.. so if you had an executives job back then you probably could have bought a couple of ounces of gold a year.. of course in 1975 i was only paying five bucks a month for electricity.. give or take.. but I made less than two dollars an hour.. eating at McDonalds you got your burger fries and drink for under a dollar..
I remember when things were tight and I would stop by to get fries.. to eat.. a whopper dam those were good two for a dollar.. and 1.75 for a full whopper with cheese fires and soft drink meal..I paid sixteen for a two cheeseburger meal just the other day and they charged me for the catchup extra.. two years ago.. the two cheeseburgers were a dollar and the fries seventy five cents the drink a dollar.. under five dollars.. you could get big macs all day for a dollar a piece.. ( I like cheese burgers) so if the price has gone up three times plus in three years what will the same burger meal be in three more.. if you had ten thousand dollars back then you could just about retire on it..today that slightly more than what you would need to cover the costs for a month.. in seventy five the total grocery costs for a family of four was seventy five dollars a month.. today.. I budget five hundred fifty a month per person.. no eating out.. all meals at home.. or 4.50 per meal and 1.75 for snacks… just a few years ago.. I could go to the store and buy bread all day long for fifty cents.. now it is five dollars..
You are using soil in there correct? What are you feeding your matters? I switched to LED grow lights in the hoopty. Talk about a spooky pink glow during dark hours out in the middle of the woods. Has me considering ranch stealth now.
Nothing beats a fresh matter.
Stay safe. 73
For a couple of years, I had two olive trees growing near my South window under some LED lights. I was amazed at how well they grew under those lights that were about 12 inches square and drew very little power. I just couldn’t get the timing right to get them to flower in the Spring so I gave up.
One time, some folks went up to visit a neighbor further up the hill and told him “Hey, that guy’s growing weed down there.” He told them no, that I was growing vegetables.
That sounds like a good reason to keep the LED grow lights hidden from view.
There are different levels of lighting wavelengths and temperature ranges for each stage of plant growth. Keep trying, you are getting close. I would like to see what a olive tree blooming looks like.
Sadly, being mistakenly accused of being a weed grower is of little concern here anymore. A several acre indoor pot growing facility was built 12 miles away from here on a major 4 lane state highway. My concern for stealth is more towards unwanted and uninvited visitors since a pink light can be hard to miss on a dark night. 3 miles of rough ass gravel and dirt road may not be enough to discourage Zeke’s if they have a damned pink beacon to follow.

You mentioned the problem of solar power systems not being useful at night. What would you say about a home self contained green hydrogen power system ?
That reality has real potential to happen. Large companies like Bosch, Cummins et al are spending huge amounts of money developing green hydrogen system to produce this fuel.
We should not be using fossil fuels for transportation purposes. It’s stupid at this point in time to run vehicles on petroleum.
Ammonia is a poor choice as it is too dangerous for general use.
Electricity has a huge set of problems as most of us know.
Yes, hydrogen is explosive but so is gasoline! We have learned how to live with gasoline.
On demand hydrogen systems are in use today by people experimenting with vehicles powered by this method. It works quite well as hydrogen has an octane rating of about 130. Standard internal combustion engine do not need to be redesigned to use hydrogen.
A well designed on demand hydrogen system could run a generator to produce electricity for a home or business. The power budget of such a system allows for the generator to run both the hydrogen production and have a generous surplus for other uses. To a certain degree such a system may be considered to be regenerative in nature.
The large corporations I mentioned are developing electrolyzers that solve the problems that amateur developers encounter. These improvements can migrate into small systems suitable for use almost anywhere.
The cost of these systems will come down as the volume of units increase.
I believe it is future of hydrogen to be the fuel of choice for most applications.
There are a number of videos on YouTube that discuss this technology.
It ain’t on WalMart, West Marine, of Amazon, so until it’s bite sized and real, it’s just more bullshit to peddle to stupes.
LOL
Hydrogen production from renewable power sources is being used to store energy for utility companies. Economics are better than batteries. The H2 gets mixed with natural gas and burned to generate electricity. H2 fuel for utility electrical generation is a real thing. The projects are scaling up. Been involved on the periphery. H2 production and use at the residential level ain’t happening.
LOL LOL LOL LOL it almost was LOL LOL LOL
When the US govt.. stopped funding the company they were going to market it.. then the government pulled it back right away.. LOL LOL LOL
I would love to see their electrodes though.. they used a ceramic potassium nitrate and uric acid for the plates.. that has a lot of thought in that.. the one I am going to make with my mini me is going to use table salt.. why.. because I want the bleach after I destroy the cell.. I will make it then let us each have eggs and pancakes then destroy the cell.. one scientist type guy was real close.. worked for the federal government to.. but he was going to share how it is done.. he didn’t listen to me either .. like everyone he thinks brute force is the answer LOL what an idiot.. LOL LOL … well at least that is what I think .. everything is frequency.. which is where all the theories on 5K etc come from.. the frequency.. what fequency is this or that.. this has had me wondering if I should show the grandson though.. because it is frequency.. and the frequency is and could be dangerous.. so should I take the time to show him and tell him not to touch the connections.. it is only three volts and two hundred miliamps of power.. but with an infrasound frequency of 7hz. as an example the effects include those on the inner ear, vertigo, imbalance, etc.; intolerable sensations, incapacitation, disorientation, nausea, vomiting, and bowel spasm; and resonances in inner organs, such as the heart. Infrasound has been observed to affect the pattern of sleep minutely. I did decide to go ahead and show him but then destroy the cell afterwards.. the gentleman I knew that was getting real close.. he had visitors.. the kindly made him a promise to never show or work with it again..
as for the company that was going to sell it.. LOL that lasted less than a month before everyone raced back to stop it from hitting the market..

the NAZI Germany used alcohol and hydrogen to power most of their military vehicles.. all made in the USA..we know it.. texaco way back before I was born had cars that got close to a thousand miles per gallon.. this isn’t something new.. just forgotten because of the business model..
His sixteen hundred patents were all given to the US government.. he is probably the only one they allowed to drive it until he died of old age..
http://www.rexresearch.com/andersnh/andersnh.htm
you can build yourself one.. you just cant share how it is done or sell one.. until the change of the business model.. then they will be everywhere.. the guy from texas that drove across the USA to sit in front of congress using his fuel generated carburator.. was put in prison and his car confiscated..
https://epcc.libguides.com/c.php?g=754275&p=5406552
Do ya think that’s why Rex research was raided..possible.. the gentleman I knew they took everything and destroyed his lab took what wasn’t licked down and mentioned how he could be in a very unhealthy situation..
this gentleman built one in the usa..he was going to give them away..
they chased him out and he ended up having to move from there as well..

the last one was looked at the gent that looked at it described it as scary and amazing. he sold controlling interest in their company where they promptly shut it down..
At one point my mother told me that I would get $350,000 when she died. A few years later she said $200,000 . Now, after her death I was told to expect about $20,000. long term care is expensive. If you want your grandkids to have money you need to put it in their name somewhere.
A lot of homes and agencies have three and five-year look backs for the hiding of assets
A good column would be discussing strategies to place our houses/assets into trusts so that the assets are shielded from lawsuits and end of life care costs.
I’m not for ripping the medical complex off but until we are offered assisted suicide they have us in a shake-down mode not to mention they get bailout while we are alive meaning we contributed to them.
“As part of its COVID-19 stimulus package, the US Congress has steered $175 billion of taxpayer funding to hospitals, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare providers to “support healthcare-related expenses or lost revenue attributable to COVID-19.””
Trusts and TOD (TransferOnDeath) for all accounts..brokerage/banks/ira..
OOWS, if suicide by choice is desired, you can never rely on “assisted suicide” and the legal labyrinth associated with it. Like anything else, if you want it done right, you need to DIY. There are quick, painless, and non-violent methods available with minimal research. I won’t detail any unless George actually wants me to. No point in attracting unwanted attention to this column.
I don’t recommend such actions except possibly in gravest extreme, but as autonomous individuals, we absolutely have the right to own our own lives and our own deaths.
Medicaid apparently has a 5 year look back (going to 7??) … so an attorney who works on that stuff tells me. He tells his clients to move the lions share of any assets they want protected out EARLY so the person gets past the 5 year look back rule before they run out of money.
Not sure what the deal is with the VA, but around here those who qualify for VA care seem to be OK financially, not sure if they have any look back rule at all. (and NO you do NOT have to only be in an actual Veteran’s Home, around here many of the good places will take VA patients where they treat them the same as their regular paying patients …. only difference is the family isn’t getting a $5,000 to $15,000 per month bill) … btw the VA homes near here seem to be good with good staffs and good services, I am sure it is NOT the same elsewhere in the US.
I am intrigued and admit not knowing the term. What should I search?

Lol yup a quarter mil a year and that’s not the cost of healthcare..if you can’t move in and pay outright they won’t take you..
no one leaves with anything but a few photos a couple of boxes of assorted crap and the memories of what you stood for.
my physical therapy took every dime I had.. kids saving money..who has that..we live paycheck to paycheck.. what is funny is when it comes I always have enough to give a hand up..
kids.. the teller after transportation cost and insurance, daycare makes 2 dollars a week.. my wife just for her healthcare insurance with a ten thousand dollar deductible made ten dollars a week..
I wonder why they can’t afford to save..
low income rent..not the utilities or car etc. is a grand a month..they have to clear two grand a month not counting food and daycare..that’s one reason tiny home living is a big hit..
if something happens to one of us..our home will be given to the neediest grand child..
Like the bricks and mortar banking stores before it. The CUSIP will also be replaced with Blockchain.
https://invezz.com/news/2023/10/18/blackrock-to-spearhead-solid-xrp-rally-forbes/
I believe that Brick and Mortar will be history in the future… Covid showed the workers that there was an increase in utilities.. ( people use their utilities at work.. ) but transportation costs.. the cost of the ten dollar cup of coffee and doughnut at the local coffee shop.. at the same time.. it showed the employers how much money they saved on infrastructure.. walk into any Government building.. and watch at three thirty the lights go out to night lights and the place looks spooky.. no one is there.. except the skeleton crew..
How much does it cost to keep coolers going.. the local Dollar general has twelve coolers.. string of lights.. eight employees.. thirteen hours a day.. a security system etc.. the electricity alone is three grand a month.. and the building.. a friend was going to take it on but they wanted just shy ten grand a month rent.. supplies.. our local grocer had to close he wasn’t making enough to pay the electricity bill luckily he was using it as a tax write off.. so out of curiosity how long can a business keep their doors open if people stop shopping.. reduce food stamps.. go ahead.( before food stamps , rent assistance, medicaid, child care assistance.. it was up to the employee to pay for them.. they created the programs ( as in adolphs second secret book) to offset the low incomes being paid by industry.. which allowed industrialists to raise wages for the executives and hand out huge bonuses.. those big bonuses and paychecks are at the cost of all taxpayers ) . but those same people that need the good Samaritan programs spend the money they would have spent on other items on food on other things they need like a new car or tires or get some clothes etc… stop daycare assistance and reduce the good samaritan programs you at first think you are making a wiser decision when in fact the top of industries biggese wage earners will just be hitting their finger with a hammer with reduced sales and services being purchased…. a local company owner seen that single parents missed more work than married.. after investigating it.. realized if there is a child sick the parent has to stay home the child isn’t allowed to go to work and daycare won’t see them.. the other thing he found out.. was that the vast majority of his employees paid almost as much as they made just for daycare.. since he was tired of having to retrain new employees.. to keep the skilled labor he had.. he hired an employee to watch kids for free to the employee.. bought a mini bus.. and hired a driver.. hired a daycare worker that would watch kids that were sick.. it saved him hundreds of thousands of dollars to do that.. he retained good trained employees to work and the employees were more satisfied with their wages.. it was a win win for him.. since then he has retired and the company was sold off and they got rid of all of that.. before someone had to die or retire to get a position with the company.. its a little in and a little out.. water on the table.. by reducing the federal programs.. reduces the profit of the companies that pay low wages.. like my pizza delivery experience.. I found out in short order why they have to bribe people to deliver to the wealthy side of town they don’t tip and the drivers like a waitress makes her income from tips.. now they just add the gratuity on the bill.. before they had to bribe the employee..
I have always been amazed that the wealthiest of individual company owners and employees never noticed that it is the low wage earners that allow them to gain the wealth they have.. one flux in the water on the table the noodle falls apart or tears apart..
My fathers employer took care of everyone that worked for him.. he knew who their families were and made sure they were taken care of.. today the same company.. they had to send production out of the country .. the quality is low most of the distribution centers are now closed.. and employees don’t stick around very long.. its a shell of what it use to be..
Saw a wonderful T shirt this morning.

Classic BIC, thanks for posting!
lol lol lol I need one of those..lol lol
BIC
I really like that shirt, I need on a cofefe cup or hat
and let us not forget to ‘warn’ of the gaseous clouds that surround Uranus
LOL!
I wonder how that would work out if I wore it at the university!
Top with a MAGA hat and a Star of David necklace and you’d be cruising in style… {grin}
“Holy Crap!!! 747,000 more people working…,”
– That has to be the largest jump month-over-month that I have ever seen. Which begs a few questions:
– Why doesn’t Wall Street react to this database ? Why is it, that you ‘almost’ never hear it mentioned when it comes to trying to guess the Feds next move? Why doesn’t anyone question the unemployment rate numbers when the work force adds 747,000 people ? Does the Fed look at these numbers?
– It seems that this BLS Database is simply ignored., by all.
That, my dear friend, is because the media and markets are all in a manipulation by the agencies that make the phony calls and which tell people what kind of bull sheiese to report.
I am one of the few honest business reporters out there who can read number, and pastes the Labor Dept.s on data.
Which says in the last six months, we have added almost a million jobs.
Fed rate cut this month?
My ass.
(*lying manipulative fucks seem a little strong, but more direct)
That manipulation is one of the reasons I decline to play in the markets. It is a rigged and crooked casino. If your net worth doesn’t have 8 or 9 zeros to the left of the decimal point you don’t have access to the information that would enable a level playing field. I programmed financial systems for almost 10 years before I ran out of moral tolerance. But I cannot talk about that due to NDA’s.

Uh-oh…
Thousands of tons of dead fish have washed up on a beach in northern Japan, prompting speculation that the release of treated radioactive water from the Fukushima nuclear plant has wrought havoc on local ecosystems.
The sardines and some mackerel washed ashore in Hakodate on Japan’s northernmost main island of Hokkaido on Thursday morning, creating an unsettling sliver blanket that covered almost a mile of shoreline.

JC Why did it take 3 months to occur? How about some new undersea volcanism super heating the water said fish wer swimming through? Soorrry that doesnt square with Globul Warming.

And this is a managed meltdown. When TSHTF and the nuke plants can’t be maintained finding a place to live outside the radioactive zones will be a real challenge. NO ONE will ever live there again.

You cannot have free power.. it would ultimately affect every facet of our economy. that’s why it took so long to get solar even now they discourage it to the people..when I got ours you couldn’t buy or instal small inverters on every solar panel.
that is why when I show the grandkids how easy hydrogen fuel is to have and use.. I will destroy the unit.. but leave the memory of it in their little minds.. they are to small to comprehend it.. but will remember the experience .. and maybe in twenty years.. will try to replicate it.. just look at our past historical event of what we use to know.. but now have to rediscover.. we still don’t have the knoweledge of how to build a pyramid in the same time frame that ancient egyptions did.. or how to carve the ornate statues..
they had batteries…. long before.. and it took what ten thousand years to rediscover them.. Imagine a world without batteries. All those portable devices we’re so dependent on would be so limited! We’d only be able to take our laptops and phones as far as the reach of their cables, making that new running app you just downloaded onto your phone fairly useless.
Luckily, we do have batteries. Back in 150 BC in Mesopotamia, the Parthian culture used a device known as the Baghdad battery two earthen jars.. Mastering fire cleared the way into whole new worlds for early humans – from accessing more nutrients through cooking (fueling an increase in brain size), to making the dark hours useful, and surviving migrations into harsher climates.
How and when this mastery happened, however, has been lost to time, with fragments of burnt material hinting our flame taming may have begun up to 1.5 million years ago. Now, scientists used AI to detect hidden clues of campfires from a Lower Paleolithic site in Israel, dating back to around 1 million years past. what would happen if we had a shtfs… we would be thrust back then thousand years to the days of NOAH.. which is why I seen the bad times in my life as learning experiences.. learn how to do and create the things that make life a quality life.. and then pass that on to the youngest.. so that In the event that things do go wrong with the Biden war’s and we are thrust back to the days of NOAH.. that they will at least have the memory of that and how easy it is to replicate as they grow and see the need for its use.. how many know how a coleman camp stove works.. simple as hell.. easy to replicate.. instead we buy the camp stove .. and pay not attention to the small details.. can you make a light build.. how would you keep it going.. why does energy flow faster though a gas then a solid.. energy when produced travels through the space between molecules, and is absorbed and emitted by other molecules. Because molecules are much farther apart in gases than in solids or liquids, radiation usually passes more easily through gases than through solids or liquids. it is all simple crap.. easily understood by younger minds that are willing to look beyond the common binds of modern acceptability.. For last couple of millennia or so, we were searching for the basic building blocks of matter, trying to explain what makes all the “stuff” we see around us.
At the end of nineteenth century J.J. Thomson surprised the science community with his experiments using cathode ray tubes. In short he managed to find a particle way smaller and lighter than an atom. Till that time “Atom” was believed to be the smallest indivisible object, and some 120+ such atoms combined with one another made everything we saw around us.
Thomson proposed the plum pudding model of the atom, which had negatively-charged electrons embedded within a positively-charged “soup.” the theory of frequency comes from the thought of If you vibrate matter at sufficiently you not only get high temperatures, (own a microwave oven) it will first melt, and then vaporize. Molecular vibration is another way of describing heat through vibration.
It’s possible that if you heat something enough it can pass through solid matter, through the process of heating that solid matter enough to melt through it. The effect can be seen when using a plasma torch to burn a hole in something. what it does is shaked the molecules away from the nucleus of the atom.. with water three molecules two hydrogen one oxygen .. which is what makes the hydrogen bomb so dangerous.. it is easy to produce and very unstable.. HHO is really explosive you have to cool it down and then put a flash arrestor in the line incase it back fires.. to keep it relatively stable.. but un-storable.. in a direct use situation its ok.. the bonuses of using Hydrogen as a power source is hydrogen from water then stored for power production.. with the release of more oxygen into atmosphere would combine with the moisture in the atmosphere and the results would theoretically be that it would drive world atmospheric temperatures down and with the reduction would also reduce CO2 levels. Have I told you about my pet gripe and theory.. put up solar towers starting at the furthest point.. filters and afterburners on the coal fired power plants.. work back to the power plant with the solar towers.. give solar power systems to anyone willing to encorporate them on their homes and greenscape our citis.. put co2 filters on every lamp post of the cities.. global warming would be a thing of control.. using hydrogen would be a win win.. what it doesn’t do is fit the business model of stuff big buck billies pockets with coins.. I could go on all day about frequency.. and my theory.. I am not a fan of nuclear energy.. we don’t know enough and the waste is to destructive to dispose of..
Energy is nothing more than compressed sunlight..
a process called transesterification, mix barium hydroxide with the algal lipids in the presence of methanol. The barium acts as a catalyst that, over a three-hour period, causes the methanol to react with the lipids to form biofuel.
Using a process known as hydrothermal liquefaction to convert wet slurries of algae into crude oil.. the same process can convert spun and stabilized oil back into the crude oil to be distilled into the various products..
HHO or hydrogen would work similar to alcohol when burned into a hydrocarbon motor. so an additive would need to be added to maintain the metal integrity..
separation of crude from oil sands same process..to convert sea water there’s what thirty or forty million years worth of fuel that once processed would re combine back into its original form..
there’s an island of disposed plastic bigger than Texas in the ocean.. what was the estimated energy of that island alone I believe it was five hundred years of energy at today’s energy demands..
More trouble…
G.A. STEWART: I seem to be the first to make the connection between Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro’s moves on annexing the oil rich country of Guyana to the visions of the late Romanian seer, Dumitru Duduman.
This is clearly not Maduro’s idea, but a Russian and Chinese feint to bring war to the western hemisphere.

LOOB . I don’t subscribe to mad max world. In a seemingly previuos lifetime let me tell you that you dont want to survive what some folks have been trained in.
Well I seriously doubt I will survive the coming events.. the ones I believe will survive are those in the colonies.. I am to tied to modern conveniences just like the vast majority.. the colonies still use ancient technologies to live their lives..
the what estimated amount of people that will survive.. is less than a couple of city blocks of any major city.
I was invited to join a colony once but turned it down.. I did tell the grand daughter to look into it.. maybe take a tour.. see if it is a lifstyle she and the kids would like..
with what things I have prepped for… I have instructions on how they work and how to use them.. like the CEB press.. to rebuild.. or the small hand haybailer..

https://youtu.be/ygRvui8eQL0?si=2kWVTq_h1xTU_DFa
that way when someone stumbles along .. they will find instructions and a meal.. IF.. I happen to survive the initial event.. then I can teach.. I use to have dreams of me showing others how to rebuild and create.. so who knows..
a couple years ago.. some of the female missionaries stopped by.. meeting them was exceptionally glorifying event.. see one of them was like an old friend I had dreamed of her after the event of horror a lot.. right down to the voice.. It was something amazing for me.. It is like walking into a building that you have dreamed over and over about.. ( this has happened to me a lot) I knew where everything was and what was behind doors in drawers etc.. scary .. but was it a coincidence..
IF… they are doing the trojan horse.. then that is why the illegals are all asking for various cities to be moved to.. giving them jobs and housing and paying their way.. more so than tax payers is just stupid.. I have no problems of someone coming to america to raise a family.. talked to a worker the other day.. she just got here from Serbia.. they gave her a great paying job with all the govt benefits and she is wanting to go back home.. things are to expensive here.. making double what a regular worker makes the golden goose healthcare and retirement and all the vacation and days off that most just dream about..
George
I saw this today in the first Doctors waiting room:
“Because lithium chemistry is not suited to cold weather, so we have remained on lower cost (and very recyclable) lead-acid technology while work in the chem labs continues.”
It brought to mind something from about 36 years ago.
As a young Engineer at Marshal Space Flight Center in Huntsville AL I was responsible for upkeep and the provision to the labs of 3 or so Power Centers consisting of 200-400 2.2v Exide deep discharge house lighting cells (as they were called.) These cells were glass cases with rubber tops about 24″ square on top, and about 32″ tall and weighed each about 300 lbs.
We had them in batteries in underground tunnels below the various lab buildings where we could supply the labs with 0-400 volts at any desired frequency from 0-400 hz. All The space flight hardware eggheads had to have specialized power for “their” project so they could be exclusive enough to protect their project from being consolidated with another or worse yet, canceled.
Anyway as work went on, cleaning cell terminals and weighing the copper buss bars between cells to a gram so they didn’t become unbalanced, cells died of old age and we consolidated then to fewer rooms until my lead, a submarine electrician, came to me and told me we needed to order about 100 cells to replace the dying cells to be able to continue the mission.
This caused me to call the Exide rep in Nashville and read him some numbers from still-operating cells to get a price on replacements.
What happened next was a call back from the Nashville rep and a regional rep to ask questions about how many or these cells we had, where we used them, how we maintained them. and last, could they come see some of them.
I thought sure why not and made the arrangements with security to get temp badges and such.
This was all about 1987 as I recall because that was the year of my car, a Fuelie Mustang GT.
The Exide Team that came to see the power centers included people from the factory, and they acted like they were entering a church sanctuary. Quiet, hushed tones, almost reverent when they went through checking numbers on the cells.
The told me when they were through that they at first thought I was pranking them, until the checked the cell numbers with factory records.
It turned out all the cells were delivered from the factory to Electric Boat Shipyards in Groton, CN, in 1942. They had no records of which ship or where deployed. I was familiar with the military salvaging thing to put in to store with a catalogue world wide, so any military base can order up items and have them shipped in. We in Richmond are going through in closure and separating the “exposed” stuff from non-exposed so some small amount can be recycled. Most of ours will be crushed and sent to the smelter.
Anyway these cells had been in a deisel electric boat during the WWII and had returned to be salvaged and sent to the Space Flight Center, probably when Von Braun was in charge, and were still putting out power 45 years later.
So when you think about storage for your Solar, Wind, Water, or any other generator system, the old Lead Acid storage cells are hard to beat, and would be my first choice even now.
Thing is, most people don’t “take care of their shit” – and in the third rewrite of 100-year toaster, this is one of the key points about the environment.
The lead-acid batteries on my sailboat lasted 10+ years. They were still going strongh when I sold the boat in 2003, or so.
The ones here in the woods I admit to not taking great care of. Even though slack in my maint role, these made it 11-years for the first string and this set may see me to the grave – we’ll know in 7-8 more years.
All liquid cells need is a) periodic water additions, b) proper charge voltage profiles (your car altd. won’t deliver this but thatr’s part of environmental engineering people lazied-out on. And c) they need periodic “equalizing.”
Also called “bailing batteries” the idea is deliverate overcharging SLIGHTLY.
This is because normal electrochemistry involves the battery deposting sulfur crystals on sthe lead plates. After every so many discharge cycles (or months’ worth of clock time) there is a bit of surful on the plates not driven back into the acid. These is called “sulfation” and when left ignored too long, those soft sulfur elementals become hard thus forming sulfatation.
I personally know people who understood this and were able to get 25+ years out of sets of good deep cycles batteries (Rolls and Surette back in the day).
You talk to a tech addict about planetary woes and 100-year toaster concepts and why we use lead acid and I miht as well be a droooler.
They’ll go right back to the cell phone parrot box and be jerks. Broke men tell no tales.
Ok, your reply begs the next question, which you can answer better than I could,
“What circuitry would I need to add to my car alternator, or my roll around garage charger/jump box, to make them do the correct charge profiles and equalizing?”
I realize this may only be monthly and need a few hours once a month hooked to the charger, and so a separate switch and circuit need added.
When I get home early next year one of the things I am wanting to add to both trucks are a second larger battery in a box and an Inverter so I can use power tools in the woods, or on campouts etc.
I already look at battery maintenance same as an oil change, and do them about as often. I don’t want to be way out in the woods and turn a key only to hear ‘click.’
There are a number of battery chargers which do maintaining, equalizing, and use (or do, or whatever) profiling. I noticed several on Amazon, the last time George posted a link to a battery charger or conditioner (I have terminal “kid in a hardware store syndrome.” Whenever I go looking for a tool or gadget I’ll go offscript and spend several hours looking at other, interesting stuff…
Hi George,
Just an observation about shrinkflation. My new boat battery lasted only eight years instead of eleven.
Before coming to your website my batteries lasted four years max, usually three, as I had stored them low to flat. Then based on your Jedi battery teachings I stored them balanced and full. I have a trickle charger with “cell balancing” and which I never used to use because I thought it was bs.
Anyway when my new battery didn’t last as long I knew something was up and when I looked at the side of the lead acid battery I read a sticker that said “now lighter” “new technology”. I went on line and read reviews including people’s complaints that their batteries didn’t last as long. What I think they did was simply make thinner copper and lead plates. By thinning the plates they could maintain the voltage and reduce the weight, and provide 1000 marine cold cranking amps. The thing is I don’t remember if my old battery had 1100, or even 1150 cold cranking amps.
Anyway I just thought I would vent about this latest shrinkflation.
You should be able to go to Deka or Exide and pull up a “legacy” battery spec. chart which will show how much each company’s Group batteries weigh. Deka is the retail brand for East Penn Manufacturing so you may have to find the East Penn website. Exide is both a retail brand and the manufacturer for other retail brands like Interstate, so they should have the info themselves.
Sometimes you have to search “lefthandedly” to glean information which isn’t indexed, but is available. The battery Group weight info, when you find it, will tell you how much a battery weighs, by spec. Weighing a new battery will tell you how much lead has been pared out.
George, I’m no battery expert, but it seems to me that with enough scrap batteries, the lead could be recovered, reduced to elemental lead from whatever contaminants exist, and recast into plates to build your own deep cycle cells. I’m not saying it’s easy, but it could be a backyard project. With a new case and new acid, we could make our own “house lighting cells”, and with proper maintenance(LOL), they could last longer that we will, at a far more reasonable cost than deep cycle batteries are today.
There should be no reason why this can’t happen. Battery cases used to be rubber, with the top made of asphalt. IIRC they’d fill the battery with hot liquid (water?) and pour hot asphalt tar over it. The tar would float above the battery’s important bits until it congealed. Then they’d drain, flush, and refill with sulfuric acid. I saw batteries which were made this way, until the late ’60s / early ’70s, when plastic cases became popular; and I saw these rubber cases repaired with friction tape or fiberglass, painted over with several coats of tar. Plastic cases can be disassembled, but I mentioned the tar case to say even a busted case can be salvaged.
Personally, most of my stashed pile of batteries is stashed away in case I need to cast some bullets. Clean lead is around $3 per pound and my smallest lead-acid batteries weigh about 32 pounds — kinda makes those $8/$10/$12 cores worthwhile. Battery lead should clean through simple separation via heat — just saying…
LOL LOL I am anal about putting tools back into the box that it came in LOL LOL LOL..
“Though, in a most honest country, the Biden impeachment the (limp dick GOP can’t seem to get rolling) would already be an accomplished fact”
So, you honestly believe 17 Democrat Senators would vote to convict Joe Biden of anything?
Interesting…
“U.S. Embassy in Baghdad is under attack, points to Pro-Iranian forces”
Mr. Obama is incredibly sympathetic toward the Shi’ite Muslim sect and the Iranian leadership. Because of this, Mr. Biden will take no significant action against Iran, period. The Iranians could nuke NYC off the map. Biden would retaliate by blowing up an abandoned aspirin factory…
“Nuclear” bomb from Russia: “We will decide by referendum the annexation of the whole of Ukraine” – Will the Army of “New Russia” continue the war? (Ignore the shrill use of the word “nuclear” – it is, however, a big deal if Russia decides to keep whipping NATO’s ass and goes west of the Dnieper petroleum reserves.”
I was neither kidding nor exaggerating when I said some months ago that by promising to “fast track” Ukrainian membership into the EU and NATO, the EU and NATO (and Biden) left Russia with no alternative, other than the complete conquest and assimilation of Ukraine. They don’t want Ukraine for its gas and oil. They want it for the separation it provides between Russia and NATO. (This doesn’t mean they won’t happily exploit Ukraine’s natural resources, because they will. However, it also means they may continue to exist, long enough to exploit these resources…)
“And there’s now Israel about to take-back, we figure, all of Gaza because of the new offshore energy fields off that coast: Israel-Hamas war: Benjamin Netanyahu issues warning to Hezbollah against war, says will turn Beirut into Gaza. Which we assume is because Lebanon (and Syria which is not a state) has offshore oil and gas, too…
Perhaps Israel merely wants to survive?
“I was shocked when I visited Robert Nelson’s Rex Research site today to read this note…
…Robert, like me, is one of the “old men of the web” and he could sure use more than one “hand up” at this point. He publishes, as you know, a ‘civilization restart CD’ with tons of arcane knowledge on it. I’m sending him some money and an offer to help with the website…”
You might see if he has a backup. I know you are one of several here who downloaded his entire website (I did too, but I also lost my computer a week ago and am trying to rebuild, myself. I still don’t know what all I’ve lost, but chances are, every website I mirrored, including RR, is gone. I don’t back up websites I don’t build…)
As a writer who can never recreate a document that is as good as the one, I lost, I have been paranoid about backups,, since I transitioned from a typewriter to a computer. Carbonite has saved my a** through several crashes, hacks, and equipment failures over the years. It’s money well spent.
Carbonite can back up gigabytes easily, but is not nearly as good when you’re talking in serious numbers of terabytes.
“As a writer who can never recreate a document that is as good as the one, I lost”
I’ve noticed that. The “mental re-creation” is never as good as the original phrasing of the original thought.
I’m also shocked at the ferocity with which they attacked Robert’s lair. I’ve had serious run-ins with agencies and departments and am still very wary of such things, but I’ve always had warning and ability to engage legal warriors to at least delay any property invasion. I believe the website is still largely intact, for those who may wish to share and mirror it. I’d download it rather slowly so as to not trigger the outfit hosting the site. Hopefully someone can seed the downloads to a public torrent site. I think Robert is much more concerned about sharing the information rather than being concerned about a profit. If we can send him anything to rebuild his life, it’s probably the right thing to do.
