Hysterical Times Cheat Sheet

It’s nothing new – an update on our long-standing “Threat Board.” But it’s a good morning for a super-quick “keep it together” walk-through.  Especially because there is an unreal amount of eclipse talk (hype) underway.

For us, though, a more measured view of life helps with the blood pressure, attitude, and keeps the trigger finger safely off the you-know-what.

We instead offer our usual advice:  Plan a plan and stick to it. Because a good plan will pull you through a lot of dicey situations. Which is our starting point today.

  1. (“World War 3. We haven’t been this close to nuclear conflict since the darkest hours of the Cuban Missile Crisis back in ’62.”)

back then when we parked missiles and arms on Russia’s borders.. they issued the beware and back off alarm..and Me dry was smart and did..
This time when we parked missiles and arms on and they issued the alarm and back off warning.. we had an elderly man with dementia and what is alleged to be a family business with a criminal business model that has obligations to fulfill so we moved more in..escalating this whole situation. similar to Afghanistan and Iraq going in wasn’t the problem ..getting out is.
it doesn’t help that mr. magoo is attempting to piss off all the countries that supply our daily goods..essentially bankrupting our currency that was extremely fragile before..
with the deficits increasing A trillion every three months now.. I cannot see a way for this to end easily..no matter who’s running the show.
the puppeteers could just pay off our deficit . but there’s a reason they have the kid flipping burgers pay for it now..they don’t pay. similar to a waitress getting tips. the wealthiest tip the least if at all.
I did ask a waitress that works for the country club how that works out..she laughed and said yes the country club adds a twenty percent tip on the bill its mandatory. they couldn’t keep waitresses until they did that.

    • We gathered a party from work once to celebrate a birthday. Twelve of us decided to go to a new national chain eatery that had just opened at the mall. Had a fabulous time. Everyone contributed for their own meal plus a generous tip. When the bill came, it was not just for the food. A note with it said that a mandatory ‘appreciation fee’ of 20% was added for parties of five or more. We were blindsided by this. I recalculated the new bill for everyone, and paid ONLY what was demanded. Everyone got back the excess money that they WOULD have given as a tip. I have never been back to that eatery again.

      • yes..waitresses work for tips..no tips they go home empty handed. with inflation and people cutting back tips are getting harder to give.
restaurants are faced with hard choices. raise the cost of the meals or auto add tips.
one restaurant faced this locally and lost the wait staff..the bosses attempted to take over but couldn’t handle the work.
then they raised costs.. ended up closing.
when I delivered pizzas. I picked the wealthiest neighborhoods..I was shocked..
the customers did everything they could to get free pizzas from hiding their house numbers to pretending to not be there.. you were lucky to get a dollar a day..after two weeks.. I went to put in my notice.. the boss said why.. I said I can’t afford to put gas in the car.. everyone started to laugh. they had a pool on how long it would take for me to wise up.. he said there’s a reason we have to bribe the drivers to deliver there.. now they add 20 percent on right away..the grocery store was the same way..people would drive up in a jag and do everything they could to get free food.. at the retail store same thing..shoplifting almost always deals with people that can afford what they are stealing..
from wealthy ladies offering services because they git caught.. to shop owners trying to get crap for their stores..
one of the perks for management was free goods..
I love to Dicker on goods.. if it’s off season or something they are just getting off the shelf.
that’s why they are tacking on tips though. they have to cover brick and mortar and supply costs..restaurant business is touch and go..paying wages is expensive.

        • I learned at a young age that the wealthy are cheapskates. At least once a year, we had to tromp the nearby neighborhoods trying to sell something or other for a school cause (including Girl Scout cookies, of course). These were middle class neighborhoods, but our expectations of making sales in the higher ends of them never panned out. The wealthier people (relatively speaking) never bought anything, while the poorer folks were always more generous.

My mother had an even more telling experience. In her later years she joined a bridge group, which included a wealthy woman who had several vacation homes in such places as Palm Springs and Las Vegas. My mother liked this woman, but was totally appalled one day when the woman told the tale of how her husband would sometimes follow phone repair trucks in order to steal phones out of the truck when the repairman went into a house. The woman thought it was humorous–my mother thought it was disgusting. It makes one wonder if anyone acquires wealth honestly.

        • (“I learned at a young age that the wealthy are cheapskates. “)
Well Tumbleweed.. you will get a tickle out of this..
A young woman I worked with.. her mother has a decorating business.. anyway.. the daughter was telling me that her mom catered to the wealthy.. but the father a doctor was going to get a divorce from her because he was the one that was paying for all the decorating etc.. told me a lot of the excuses it was hilarious.. If I had tried that crap they would put me in jail…. see all the decorating that was done for the wealthiest.. wouldn’t pay her.. so I went in and set up a budget for her.. and then told the daughter.. tell your mom that I will let her redecorate and stage my home.. and I won’t pay her either LOL LOL LOL LOL
thirty years ago now.. a friend was thinking about starting a solar business.. LOL.. he came from a wealthy family… said oh he would get the support from this one and that one etc.. I told him not so fast there.. they may seem nice but there is a reason they are wealthy.. and they don’t spend money.. they will spend your money but not their own.. anyway he got a meeting set up had twenty five of the biggest names around the wastelands show up.. he was telling me how great it would be good to get them on board with his business.. I said good luck let me know how it turns out.. ( we use to have coffee two three times a week )
Well… I haven’t had coffee with him since.. and he never told me a thing.. his wife told me .. sure they were right with him.. but.. he had to give them a percentage of what he took in.. and pay them for the use of their names LOL LOL LOL
Needless to say.. he didn’t set up the business..and he wasn’t abotu to fess up to I was right ..

Well she must have gotten the idea that she just can’t do that for those people with millions and not get paid.. she told me a lot of the excuses they gave..it was hilarious.. at the grocery store.. they would come in buy a hundred steaks.. then come back with the receipt on monday saying that people were getting sick on them.. and get their money back.. when the old geizers I worked with were still there at the store.. I would come in and order a bunch of steaks.. then tell them yes monday I will come back and get my money back.. the store could’t resell the steaks they didn’t cook up.. so we always had steak cooked up in the back room .. compliments of the wealthy grocery getters LOL
the other thing is.. if you rent .. change the locks.. if the landlord wants to get in.. make arrangements to be there.. then change them back when you leave.. for apartments.. they hire ex cons because they can’t get a job anywhere else.. and so many people that I have known had people going through their things.. One of the meat cutters was telling me he wasn’t sure what but something was going on.. I said you did change the locks didn’t you no he hadn’t.. so I talked him into putting in a video security system.. he was mortified.. the guy was coming in rumaging through his stuff drinking his booze.. a coworkers daughter woke up one night and swore someone was watching her.. I gave her the same lecture on changing the locks.. and gave her a camera set I had.. she changed the locks and it quit.. who it was with her at college was the landlord.. masterbating in her underwear and everything.. I tell the kids.. always change the locks..

      • I have seen waitresses start to cry.. when I worked washing dishes.. it was common to see the stress the girls had.not knowing how they were going to put gas in their cars or buy diapers and milk..because they didn’t get enough tips.. most of the wait staff is either single parents or college students trying to pay for books etc.
I usually give OST’s ( oh shit tips) the last time I pulled in to my favorite mexican restaurant.. there was an hour wait time to be seated.. I pulled in with the buggy and we went in.. the lady seating everyone said your table is ready.. the look we got from all the customers waiting in line.. as we walked by.. on the counter was a small bowl of lemons one for each of the wait staff each hoping I got seated in their section.. when I pay I usually make sure that the wait staff working my table can get a meal or buy gas get milk or diapers.. another thing I look for is a young couple that is obviously the wife or mom wanted a night out.. you can tell when the guy peeks in his wallet to see what he has.. they usually let the kids order first.. then the peek a boo.. then they order.. mom orders before dad and many times I will see the dad only get water.. their meal is usually on me.. and I tip their wait staff as well as my own..Just because I have been there done that..
I have a really bad connective tissue thing going on.. anyway I wasn’t doing very well came in.. sat down.. and the next thing I knew.. the waitress was bringing all my food the stuff I always get.. my friend looked at me and said what is going on there.. then it hit him.. she is doing that because you tip big..
My wife is the same way.. no one goes home hungry when we go out to eat.. and seriously is it that much to give a little.. I doubt I will ever change that either.. seen waitresses just start crying when I was done.. out of gratitude.. one thing I know.. my coffee is hot and the way I like it.. my dishes are the cleanest in the lot to.. my food is done and everyone is happy.. that is how our night out on the town usually is… some places that don’t see us regularly or a new waitress .. we had one that was a lousy waitress.. a waitress that we normally have seen what was going on and took over .. then I could see her talking to the waitress schooling her on proper waitress procedures.. it was kind of funny and also a good thing.. that young lady now is a wonderful waitress..

        • I tip generously … but have rich friends who are so cheap when it comes to tipping that they could make the Indian ride the Buffalo on the Nickle. They may be driving a car that costs 6 figures but can’t leave even 10% as a tip for EXCELLLENT service in a mid priced restaurant, sometimes they will try to leave without tipping at all (if I am with them I take them to task fairly hard and they will reluctantly pay something, but you know that they are going to do that again, and again, and again)!

If the lord blesses you … help spread that blessing to others to your ability.

        • AMEN Stephen 2
washing dishes at a denny’s restaurant.. I have seen all of that and more.. the one I worked at.. if the guy or group stiffed her.. she had to pay the ticket.. to boot.. seen girls crying because they could’t put gas in the tank or get diapers or milk for their babies..
Now I haven’t been blessed by the number god.. but I was blessed with learning modules that taught me something way more important..
do unto others.. and compassion.. Once you see it.. you know it.. the wealthier ones at the restaurant gave the wait staff a lot of crap to..demanding as hell and no compassion just demanding as hell.. now there are those that are .. Compassionate and do what they can.. they have lived through it..and once they see the need.. will go to the ends of the earth to fix it.. they have listened to the whispers of our heavenly father.. they will find paradise in heaven because of it to.. we need the social class distinctions.. take trump.. look at what that man has done.. then look at the present administration he hasn’t done anything.. how many homes did he supply to veterans that lost everything in a war.. hmm not any I believe.. but trump has.. gave an african american boy a private jet flight for life saving surgery then paid the tab for the whole thing.. did the present administration do anything like that.. hmm nope..
Trump has been at the bottom but had the ability to rise above it.. he is a NYC scrapper to..

        • (“They may be driving a car that costs 6 figures but can’t leave even 10% as a tip for EXCELLLENT service in a mid priced restaurant, sometimes they will try to leave without tippin”)

I actually believe that some of that is.. they don’t have working capital.. its all on paper.. take trump.. his is all in his company.. he probably doesn’t even show an income.. some of the places I worked.. were like that.. one woman I worked with was getting a divorce from her husband that made four mill a year.. but showed an income of under ten grand.. it was all in the company.. the company buys their homes cars and campers etc.. their gasoline and pays the utilities.. all company write off..
Its like our congressman.. he has a multi million dollar airplane a whole crew on standby.. all the expenses associated and they only take the planes up occasionally to get flight hours.. congressmen don’t work that often.. the pilot for ours helps his wife at her small company I have had coffee with him a few times.. the lobbying firms pay for it all..
If it is on paper.. it really isn’t available.. which is why the NY wanted cash money.. trump may be worth billions.. but its all on paper.. it was enough that it would destroy him.. and if they seized his properties.. then they not only put him in the food stamp line but took any way for him to regain his position again.. Of course that is just how I see it.. I don’t know for sure..

    ..NOT.

  3. Speaking of dicey situations, here’s a link to interesting read that will keep Ure readers up at night, especially when combined with news of nuke saber rattling and impending economic mayhem.

    https://archive.is/2024.04.05-065250/https://www.nytimes.com/2024/04/03/technology/prevent-cyberattack-linux.html

This one skilled, abnormally observant and unceasingly curious human got lucky and identified a very serious ‘back door’ to Linux operating systems that could be used to maliciously impact the majority of the world’s servers. How many more similar ‘back doors’ have been surreptitiously inserted into critical global infrastructures? What processes are these vulnerabilities targeting (flow, safety, data reliability, databases, etc.)? And who is ultimately responsible?

    • Security on Linux has become more of an issue in recent years. Commercial Linux security software works, but is a pain to install and maintain, and has become a lot more expensive. This potential hack you allude to was so potentially bad that I doubt any commercial software would have provided any protection.
Unpaid volunteers burn out, and that gives state actors an opening to volunteer services in open source software production. It has long been rumored that MS and other commercial operating systems suppliers borrow heavily from open sources.
This doesn’t bode well for a host of major internet users in financial, retail, energy, manufacturing, transportation, etc. in a major superpower conflict. That raises the specter of the fast dry slide to an 19th century operating environment, with a labor force that doesn’t know how to do anything but punch keys and whine.
I am riding my bicycle every day that weather permits. I am also continuing to stock up on basic manual tools and blades. Food production in an technology impoverished environment will be difficult for old men. The antidote for the state hackers’ mayhem may turn out to be a bicycle and a pellet gun. I haven’t seen a bullpup pellet gun with a lever cock, but I keep looking. 2nd childhood as a survival profession; that’s a new prepping angle.

      • “I am also continuing to stock up on basic manual tools and blades.”

Two friends at church brought me some scrap metal this morning. Two extremely heavy (3/4″ X 2.5″ X 2.5′) springs and two railroad rail plates. The springs are sufficient to make several hammers, hatchets, etc. and the rail plates can be cut to make teeth for an excavator or tractor bucket.

Those gifts will keep me out of mischief for a long time!

  4. Anyone happen to catch that little thang, Fed had a loss?? first time in a hundred something years the fed had a loss. Not on the news. Guess who picks up the tab for the loss?
Hundred something billon. Maybe just a dream I had. No one has said anything about that I have heard. Maybe I’ll just go have a shot of muffler fluid, never thought to be such a thing.

ATL: young fella out yard-working. I’m administrative :0/

      • I’m seeing a lot of this, lately, so,

        ONE MORE TIME!

The way George’s WordPress comments work is:

Comments can be made on only the last seven days’ posts.

Therefore, a body can copy yesterday’s date into their browser find function [Ctrl +c] [Ctrl+f] to open the “Find dialog” in their browser and insert yesterday’s date into the field. After that, the [F3] key will find every occurrence of yesterday’s date. Go back six calendar-days in George’s list of articles (right column for computers, page bottom for phonies) and click on the post that’s 6-days back. Now hit [F3] on your personal confuser keyboard. If anyone made a post before midnight of last night (Central Time), your browser will hop to that post and highlight its datestamp. When [F3] stops bouncing to new posts, change the number in the [Find] field of your browser to today’s date and begin to hit [F3] again. The browser will hop to any posts made AFTER midnight (Central Time) of last night.

If the browser only hops to George’s list of articles, there are no new posts on that day. Move one day newer in George’s list, rinse & repeat. Once you get to “yesterday’s article,” you have seen every post that’s been made in the last day, to which WordPress will allow you a reply. Go to “today’s article” (or articles) and you’re “caught up.”

This sounds hard, until about the second time you hit the [F3] key. Then you realize how absurdly easy it is to do, and that it will keep you abreast (or a-drumstick, if you so choose) of the goings-on, on any WordPress site, in a matter of a few seconds per page.

If this is too difficult, you can always write a Perl script to automate the procedure…

  5. Fast cheese loaf..
1 quart milk ( or half and half..can use cream also)
    1 tsp salt
1 tbsp melted butter or olive oil
    1/2 cup of corn starch
1 cup of cheese ( your choice )
1 cheese mold ( line it with aluminum foil)

mix the milk into the corn starch mix in the salt ..( you can add spices to ..your the boss of what you like)
put in a pan then heat the milk and corn starch ..( do not bring to a boil)
add the cup of shredded cheese stir continuously until the cheese is melted and it begins to thicken..
scrape the contents into the mold ..place in fridge to let it cool.
seal it or take it out and slice for a grilled cheese sandwhich.. its a cheap fast Velveeta alternative..

  6. GQ has a new Geiger counter out; with coupons the GMC-SE is going for as low as $79 on Amazon. Limited reviews out there, but user ratings look promising.
Iodine supplements are cheap; the ones you bought for Fukushima are still probably potent. Kids need a lot of iodine; adult dosage is more like one dose.
Hidey holes are expensive and attract two-legged rats. Gasoline is cheaper, but be prepared to walk home worst case if you don’t have a stocked bug-out location. Refer to Arthur Bradley’s EMP Doctor Youtube site for guidance on vehicle EMP hardening. Plan B’s suitable for an NBC environment can get really expensive.
Looking for real estate more than 100 miles from targets or major metro areas is probably a snipe hunt for all but the most wealthy under current economic conditions. Examples of major civilian targets are ports and refineries. Ure proximity is wind dependent for most. Lawn chairs are relatively cheap.
Having read “The Making of the Atomic Bomb” by Richard Rhodes, the lawn chair option does not appeal to me. It isn’t necessarily the quick and easy way out.
Staying home is the frugal choice. Maybe I do some work on restocking the trailer. I can safely haul maybe 18 gallons of fuel and a lot of supplies in a 4′ x 6′ enclosed trailer. The trailer will knock gas mileage down to maybe 22 mpg, so with the trailer stocked and a full tank, that puts me into a 200 mi touring and return radius without third-party resupply. Frugal hysteria is a good exercise.

    • If you give your kids KI (Potassium Iodide) or any other Iodine containing substance, it would be best to know the symptoms of Iodine poisoning.

    • The official recommended dosage for nuclear exposure is 130mg Iodine for adults, half that for children 12-18 under 150 lbs, less even for infants. Facts and FAQs are here:
      https://www.health.ny.gov/environmental/radiological/potassium_iodide/fact_sheet.htm

Iodine must be taken immediately or just before exposure to nuclear fallout. Delays lessen the effectiveness. The idea is to saturate the Thyroid gland so it cannot absorb more (radioactive) iodine, thus preventing Thyroid cancer from the fallout. The radioactive stuff decays and dissipates in about a week, so the iodine pills only need to be taken for about a week. The iodine only protects from blast-generated isotope. It will not protect from heavy ionizing radiation exposure.

      • I don’t think adults need to take it for that long, but when all else fails, read the directions on the label.

        • Unless “radiation” has gotten smarter, the CDC is in error. (Note their website says people over 40 don’t need to take KI, then gives the recommended dosage for people over 40?) CDC was infested with the same gibberish doublespeak as NiH, during COVID. It is a Faucified bureaucracy, and will not recover until its upper echelon of bureaucrats are completely purged.

KI is taken to keep the thyroid from absorbing radioactive Cesium and Strontium isotopes, as much or more than I-131. These isotopes are produced in quantity by either a blast or a leak. IIRC Cs-137 and Cs-139, and Sr-89 and Sr-90 are the baddies. I-131 sucks, but it would be around for long enough that we’d have to learn to adapt to it. The half-life of the cesium isotopes is less than a couple months. While the half-life of the strontium isotopes are over a year, they are considered minimally dangerous after the aerosolized blast refuse settles to ground. These guys are so dangerous because you don’t just wear the dust, you inhale it.

What KI will do for I-131 is keep it from killing you until you can begin to develop a tolerance for it. It is pervasive, and will invade all food and water supplies, and all food plants & animals. You will get to choose to tolerate it, and die from cancer in 20 years, or not tolerate it, and die from dehydration or malnutrition in 20 days. The reason the gummint (and places like “Life Extension”) put out envelopes which contained 14 31.5mg doses is after the initial dose (125-135mg = 4 pills) the standard maintenance dose is 31.5mg/day for a minimum of 10 days.

BTW, I’m iodine-deficient, and take a 31.5mg hit of KI once every three days. For KI information, the FDA and FEMA are much better sources than the CDC — just sayin’…

  7. We are going all Summer long without someone in the international arena going ballistic on their neighbor ?

I just don’t see that happening. There is just too much going on militarily, world wide, without some despot eventually screaming ‘charge’ !

And just how nasty is this coming election going to become?

Economically / financially our economy, banking and stock markets ‘could’ muddle all the way through the Summer and into early Fall. That is possible. Some very good trading opportunities along the way, that’s for certain.

However, some of the financial cracks have already turned into very large fissures. I don’t think it would take much for the entire system to slide away into the abyss., and our society is not even close to prepared for that collapse., and a few warehouses full of five-pound blocks of processed cheese food., is not going to cut it.

Just one revenge filled misstep from a foreign power should start the land slide and off we go, deflation, then into a deep depression., and every major city will become a war zone when the trucks stop and the shelves empty.

Hopefully, not all of that will happen ‘this’ Summer., but the odds are climbing sharply that we just are ‘not’ going to make it all the way through Summer and into Fall.

This is just my opinion and I am sure you have your own on whether, or not we can keep going down this land-mine filled road, world wide – not just here at home., as I believe it will be an off-continent event that will pull the trigger. That decision., that choice is all on you. And your view, your choices, now, will determine your future., or lack thereof.

    “Stay Frosty!”

  8. Richter 7.4 in Taiwan around 1pm EDT.
1-meter tsunami predicted for close locations.
    TWO small-ish ( c. “4”)quakes in New Jersey.
One small (c. “2-ish” in western NC yesterday.

    Hmmmmm

  9. A few years ago an article in Jane’s launched a six month research study – that I was a part of. [ A good imagination., solid research experience and a head for numbers gets me into a lot of research projects – but none quite as disturbing as this one.]
It, the study, was based on the concept of Russia detonating five, EMP enhanced nuclear devices [ which has been confirmed that Russia is/was working on such warheads.] at high altitude over North America., and the consequences and collapse of the society.
Just five. That is all it would take.
We chose 12 major cities that would absolutely be within the impact of those EMP bursts, and created a time-line of events that would occur within those cities.
There are a lot of misconceptions on what an EMP would do.., but there is total agreement on what a large city, curb & gutter-society will become.
With the loss of water, sewer, electricity, traffic lights, refrigeration, heating, police, fire departments, ambulance services, communications, gas stations.., all gone within seconds of each other as State, City and corporate computer and communication systems fail., some even fried.
A lot of cars, trucks, motorcycles, buses., etc would still be operational., however, the inner city and immediately surrounding areas would be at a complete stand still as all traffic lights would go off-line., within 30 minutes to an hour nearly all major roadways would be dead-locked. People do not cooperate anymore. “Me First” would prevail and any ‘dead vehicles’ would just exacerbate the situation.
All 12 major cities would come to a standstill. Chaos would ensue. Then mayhem, as people hear what has happened [ most saw the overhead flashes, but didn’t know what it was.] and come to realize that no one, no police, no fire department, no government is coming to help.
The initial three weeks was laid out in our research. Then, the next three weeks.
The numbers were horrifying. The destruction was monumental. [ Just how far can a fire in a large city spread with no way to fight it ? Too many variables – no way to predict. ]
    .
Every time we thought that we had a handle on what would occur, one of us would ‘see’ another area, another scenario that would make it even worse. [ Hospitals, for example. Would their emergency generators still function? Probably not. The County jail? You can’t feed them, can’t give ’em water., can’t flush the toilets., you can’t even turn on the lights to see where they are. So., you do…, what?]

I will see if I can find the link to our research paper. I know it was published on-line., but I have forgotten exactly where.
When we finally completed and polished the paper., every one of us volunteered to be the guinea pig astronaut on Musk’s first Mars Mission.

    It was ugly. Very depressing.

    • Spinning off a bit here.

Im not aware of EMP blasts being able to be focused. When they pop , its more of a line of sight deal. It wont stop at the US border. It used to be said that one EMP pulse 250 miles above Kansas would knock out the entire US…along with…a LOT of Canada and Mexico. Russia or any country would be extremely foolish to target the US with that method. The US wont give the attitude that “oh well , I guess they got us” and thats the end of that. With our forces spread worldwide I would believe that any think-tank would assume that the US would level the global playing field and damn quick.

Aside again. How would the regular guy even know ? They would think it was a garden variety power outage. Seems only NORAD or the Space Force among other like agencies would know. But Ill never know. ( if an attacker wanted to be real nasty they could wait a few hours and hit you again to wipe out the emergency gear )

EMP threat is real no doubt. But Im much more concerned about a CME taking us down.

By the way , I enjoy your posts !

      • “It used to be said that one EMP pulse 250 miles above Kansas would knock out the entire US…along with…a LOT of Canada and Mexico.”

You are correct — sort of. The USSR not only had more bombs than we did, they had bigger ones. However, bigger is not always better. Through years of study, we, the Brits, the Soviets, the Chinese, and the North Koreans all discovered that the best bomb for producing an electronics-killing pulse was an old-fashioned atomic bomb (Hiroshima, anyone) with a yield of, from about 250 to about 400 kilotons. However, because of that darn “inverse-square” rule, ideal bomb altitude had to be lowered to between about 110-125 miles. Ideal placement then became three bombs: One over Huntington, WV, one over OKC, and one over SLC. In an ideal world, this would take out virtually all of North America. Because the world isn’t ideal, and neither are physicists’ calculations, the brass star brigade decided that to ensure societal destruction beyond recovery, 5 bombs would be the number used for all gaming exercises.

WE have run those gaming exercises with a focus on every continent on Earth, so as to have a baseline idea of the number of bombs, and their placement, required to send any nation or continent back to the late 1700s. I would assume every other “nuclear nation” has run the numbers and the game scenarios as well, since to not do so would be astonishingly remiss, and stupid.

When I say 17 bombs sends Civilization back to the 1700s, I’m not kidding. When I say 23 bombs, I’m simply using the number every nuclear military uses. The only recovery from an EMP is using stuff which is ONLY manufactured in China. If we were flashed back to the 18th Century, Russia and China would also be so-flashed, and within the hour. When China’s grid goes away, the rest of the world joins us, and suddenly, the Amish possess the most technologically-advanced civilization on the planet.

Have you hugged a Yoder, today…?

    • The EMP effects are a lot like a major hurricane, except over an enormous area, with nowhere to go, and a lot more stranded cars. Anything which is dead and spare parts are not in hand will likely stay dead for some time. It won’t be quite a “Walking Dead” or “The Last of Us” scenario with our own military carpet bombing urban centers, at least I hope not. The daily level of casualties will increase geometrically. The longer it takes to restore power, the more difficult and protracted the restart becomes.
My suspician is that the initial nudge into anarchy will probably ensue when the water, formula and pampers play out, and young heavily armed dads with an earful of it go hunting.
I would like your see your study. Hopefully I won’t attract any unfriendlies with this post.

    • “Hospitals, for example. Would their emergency generators still function? Probably not.”

It depends. The generators would be fine — Some of the electronics in their control circuits would fry. Latest-gen “generators” would all go away because they’re really alternators and their regulator circuitry is internal.

People like you, who are exceptionally competent, should snag a publication on construction and repair of practical electronic circuitry. A lot of the stuff that will shit itself when an EMP hits, CAN be remediated back into function, as long as someone knows the basics, doesn’t panic, and has a little free time to do the repair and remediation. Even most dead cars can be remediated by replacing their distributor with a mechanical (points & condensor) distributor and a little wiring (as long as one understands both rudimentary electronics and basic auto mechanics…) Replacing the distributor essentially takes all electronics out of the ignition sequence. One might have to rip the MAF, antirunon, and other stuff out of the air intake path, but I guarantee the EPA won’t be issuing you any citations. The hard thing would be, if you were living in the “inner-city,” even in a town of 4-5 thousand, being able to find the time to mod your ride without being shot by your neighbors…

      • I hear you on that.. I believe that the backup generator I have has a bad circuit board.. they came out and said no.. its not that..but when you look online you see that model with hundreds of people all having the same issues.. all with that dam circuit board.. I did ask them can a person take that out and just have an on and off switch.. no blinking circuits.. in the cold weather.. at the nursing home that was how ours was there.. the power goes out.. we would flip a switch hit start .. the company said well it is the valve.. they just put the new valve in it.. the guy asked me.. when did it stop.. it never did work.. I can go out and exercise it manually but when the power went out the circuit board flashes and doesn’t do a dam thing.. lost a freezer and a half of a cow sixty pounds of chicken breasts.. etc.. and the freezer..
NOW WHY… we had a dish washer that lasted us for almost thirty years.. then we ended up having to get a new one.. I forget what the original problem was.. nothing to severe but they couldn’t get parts..
we bought a dishwasher from a hardware store.. the manufacturer doesn’t have a service rep in three hundred miles in any direction.. eventually they gave us the money back.. we flip dishwashers every year and a half now.. the circuit boards burn out..
this last one.. caught my interest.. they sold me one that is manufactured in TURKEY.. the parts are MADE IN CHINA.. ok so if shipping and delivery setup thirty miles is two hundred dollars.. how much did they pay for that dishwasher that cost me four hundred dollars from california to the warehouse.. I checked and it would cost me several hundred dollars.. to truck it back to california.. so I dug deeper.. to ship it back to the factory was 3800.00 plus.. the average laborer in Turkey makes 12.50 per year.. the average engineer gets 35.00 per year.. a scientist makes about forty… so what do they sell them for.. in turkey.. the unit is almost a third or maybe a little more than a third of the annual salary of a worker.. four dollars and fifty cents REATAIL.. only rich people can afford one…
So if the unit that gets its parts from thousands of miles away sells the unit retail for 4.50 us.. what was wholesale for the same unit.. what was the cost of the circuit board made in china..
my guess is they had to buy thousands of these.. similar to my beverage can order.. they still made money sending me a pallet of beverage cans for twelve dollars.. shipping cost was the same if it was one case or twelve cases.. or the time I bought MP3 players for the kids at a penny a piece..
I just bought the xmas gifts this year.. for pennies on the dollar.. my guess is that dishwasher sells for less than a dollar wholesale..We don’t see it because our cost of living is high here.. but there it isn’t..and the circuit boards are meant to fail.. just like our grid.. its designed for profit not security

      • What I am doing.. is getting another simpler design generator as a backup to the backup generator.. just about got it paid off.. trying to get the electrician to put in a plug in.. no tripping over cords..

    • dam.. I read that research paper … five would take down the whole country.. the it would be a tiered failure.. like dominos.. and the resulted death ratio was enormous.. basically everyone would die..
I actually used that paper trying to convince the power companies to do my decades old rant.. put up solar towers at every sub station.. ( it is cheaper.. ) or hand out solar grid tie kits to anyone that is willing to put them up.. (its cheaper)
this last time I made that suggestion.. the head of the power company said.. the reason they don’t do it.. is its against governmental regulations to do so…
Its about the number on a piece of paper.. where for a lot less.. the whole grid could be almost bullet proof..
I had an old friend call me yesterday.. ( he remembers when I built a satalite receiver and dish one winter as my winter project LOL it was nice.. I had television when no one else did.. but it was a pain in the ass.. similar to my building a freeze dryer.. you had to babysit it LOL) but then what do you expect from a couple hundred dollars of parts and a roll of chicken and screen wire LOL LOL LOL
Anyway.. he asked me.. would it need the attention like the satalite dish.(it was a monster to dwarfed the house ). how long have you had your solar.. well to give you an idea the first 1 kw of solar cost me twenty five grand.. its what I belived in.. I was still using a walker and wheel chair then..got a real tickle out of going out and watching the meter flip back ten kw every day about one pm LOL.. now you can get twelve for under ten with used under two .. I put three kw up for two hundred bucks.. cost more getting the electrician to install it..shoot every light in our house is on right now.. its cloudy and the solar is producing enough to run the house..

  10. Yesterday I was in a Dollar Tree on recon since they mentioned changing the upper boundary to $7.00 and saw inflation happening before my eyes. Most everything in this store was priced @ $1.25.

Workers were restocking shelves and I saw the 3.5 ounce fun size Snickers packs are being restocked with 2.5 ounce fun size Snickers packs. Cans of what looked like Campbell’s condensed soup were also being restocked but the cans were slightly larger than what I might see at Walmart so inspected one and noticed the can didn’t mention adding water nor the word condensed like a regular can of Campbell’s condensed soup so I’d guess about 1/3 less. Cans of tuna contained 2.5 ounces of fish.

Cleaning supplies seemed watered down like the soup and tuna. The bleach didn’t indicate concentrated as example and dish soap looked light in color.

They did have manual can openers for $1.25 so that’s cheaper than $WMT which has them for $4.00.

I don’t think they have deals, most everything is single serve. The cash registers are automated.

    • The article I saw said the higher prices would start in June and the $7 prices later in the year.

      • Ask on everything in the place with exception to the helium balloons was $1.25. The foodies were shrinkflating before my eyes. I didn’t see any deals and left.

    • chip bags that are pumped with air so they look bigger.. boxes the same height but a third less product.. a sixteen ounce bottle of pop went to twenty then down keeping the size of the bottle but the diameter is slightly smaller.. the mind tricks you into believing that your getting the same thing..

  11. An EV watchdog organization announced this morning that on average, across the country., it costs the equivalent of $17 per gallon to fully recharge an electric vehicle.
“Does that still make a Ford ‘Lightening’ viable?”
Note: This so-called ‘watch dog group’ sounds a bit rapid.
I have no way of researching that number. Sounds a little high to me.

    • Aw come on. Your view is driven by living with the cheapest power rates in the country – which is why G2’s employer is putting up server farms all over Chelan/Douglas…

      • Two months after Microsoft landed a great deal with the local PUD – it was announced that rates were going up, across the board every year, for the next three years.
Thos server farms are going to cost everyone here an awful lot.
        .
My ‘view’ is actually driven by my cynical opinion of modern-day electric vehicles.

      • My electric grid bill was as low as $0.37/kwh last month. But it was a rainy, cloudy month, and my leased PV system bill came in at $0.55/kwh. Yikes! In sunny summer, though it comes in well below the grid costs. It’s all about the weather.

      • Having considered an EV myself five years ago, I came to the conclusion that recharging at Florida residential electric rates would be considerably cheaper than buying gasoline for a ICE and slightly cheaper than running my old Prius hybrid. However, if one has to charge on the road and without an EV manufacturer’s subsidy, the equivalent of $17/gallon sounds about right. But what is true today will likely not be true tomorrow and the hand of government on charging network pricing has yet to be seen. Further, states are getting really annoyed by EVs not paying gas taxes. Too many variables in the equation! My decision not to buy an EV was based on their questionable ability to run away from hurricanes, analysis of the CO2 emissions by the plants that generate charging power, and, least of all, by on-the-road charging fees.

        • NOW… there is a way to recharge your Prius prime using the electric motor of the car itself..

it only takes a couple of miles to recharge the batteries to ninety percent.. then you can get another thirty miles out of it..and not hook it up to the grid to recharge..

          Activate Charge Mode:
While driving, press and hold the “HV/EV” button on the center console.
The Prius Prime will enter Charge Mode.
          Monitor the Charging Process:
Keep an eye on the dashboard display to ensure that the gasoline engine is running and charging the traction battery.
The engine will divert power to the generator, which charges the battery.
I was skeptical but tried it a few times.. and it works great..

        • Yes.. the electric cars don’t pay road tax on gasoline…. but around here.. they estimate average miles driven and tack it onto the cost of the license plate stickers..

    • It costs about $17 on average, to charge your batteries to 70%. Charging stations are subsidized, and will charge between zero and about $80 for that 70% charge. EVs shut down when the batteries hit 10%, so $17 gives you about 180 miles, or about what I would get on 3.6 gallons of diesel, or what a newer Prius, or Ford Fusion hybrid, or similar car would get around town on about 3.4 gallons of petrol. The difference is I can get in my car and drive 2100 miles from Wright-Patterson to Phoenix in 31 hours, stopping twice for about 10 minutes each, for fuel (I know, because I did it.) In an EV that drive would take 39 hours, assuming I could find a usable charging station exactly every 180 miles, which means it would take 48 hours, because I could not drive like that without taking at least one 8-9 hour sleep break. Oh yeah, AND assuming I made the drive between (roughly) Memorial Day and the middle of September, because once temps start dropping at night, so does range between charges.

      • We.. well the wife has a prius plug in.. loves it.. we haven’t seen any increase in electric costs..We fill the tank with fuel once every six months just so it doesn’t get to old..but then all of her driving is within a short distance.. how you drive it also tells you how many miles you can get out of a battery.. the wife gets about thirty five miles.. before the motor kicks in.. I get about fifty miles.. the kids get twenty to twenty five miles.. Now the Buggie has extra weight to it because it is set up for me to take people in wheel chairs.. ( constantly running to doctors.. I tried to get the transportation through govt. but there is a problem.. govt has specific hours and distances and vacations and days off.. and to hire it out is five hundred dollars for a back and forth trip..)

    • When the wife and I can escape for an evening out.. I usually Activate Charge Mode:
I have asked a local grocery store to put in an ev2 plug in.. they have the tesla plug ins.. they need to make a charging cord that will convert the tesla from DC to AC or just put a separate plug on the EV2 to adapt to tesla.. there are tesla charge ports all over the place..

      • Loob,

have you considered Squirrel power for Ure daily driver ?

They run all day on Nutz!

Refueling is just a matter of pulling up to a park or woods somewhere, and let the little, furry lil bastards forage for Fuel in their tiny lil collars. Hell you could outfit em in tiny racing team uni’s, they could be their own Pit Crew.

Heres Nutz to you, cheers. : )

    • F ‘borrowed’ $9,000,000,000 for battery manufacturing. If the electrics don’t hit F will have to rely on the ICE division to pay the loan… or the loan was a .gov control method and will be forgiven. Scam Nation.

“Ford and its South Korean battery manufacturing partner SK On have agreed to a loan of $9.2 billion from the US Department of Energy as part of President Joe Biden’s push to bring more electric vehicle production to the United States.”

      • Never fear, Whitless will take the money out of your paycheck & retirement, and raise property taxes, to cover the loan. Michiganders don’t need the money — the ChiComs do…

    • Fill up costs depends upon what the $/kwh costs if you charge at home (after you spend a bunch of money to install a charging system that is) … but remember those who LIVE IN RENTALS or APARTMENTS will NOT have that option and will HAVE to use the public charging stations, some of which add on a ridiculous extra amount of $$ in charges over the cost per kwh.

Since nearly 1/2 of Americans do NOT own the place they live (college students away at college can NOT use their parent’s home charging units even though that place is listed as their “residence” for example) Electric Vehicle requirements add up to an EXTRA considerable cost for the poorer segment of society who can not afford to buy their own home.

YEP … AGAIN the Rich People structure the system so THEY benefit and SCREW OVER the poorer people.

Where I am our overall electric rates have climbed 80% in the last 5 years and with the new increases that are coming this year we will be looking at an OVER 100% increase in just 5 years. (currently I pay $.225/kwh but with the rate increases that are already baked into the cake that will climb to about $.26-$.27/kwh). With the additional infrastructure that needs to be built I anticipate that we will up to where California was just a couple of years ago say to $.35/kwh+- within 3 years, maybe even 2.

IF you have to use a Public Charger it is already as or more expensive to fill up as a gas vehicle (so my friends who drive Teslas tell me from their traveling “out” experiences), and when electric rates go up another 50% – 60% it will definitely be MORE expensive (even if gas goes to $5.50/gal at the same time).

Add in the coming “road tax” fees and the time it takes to charge if going on longer trips (I do a bunch in the 550 mile one way trips during the year plus at least one longer 1100 – 1200 one way trip, sometimes two) so the time I spend to make those trips will go up considerably too … meaning an overnight stay cost for the longest trips will now be required.

The electric vehicle mandate should have been properly named as the SCREW THE POOR, particularly SCREW THE RURAL POOR mandate since that is what it is going to be doing.

      • As I learned from helping with instrumentation for Argonne National Labs HEV Challenge series in the late 90s, Hybrids always were – and continue to be the only thing that makes sense.
        – – –
And what about the groundswell in power accounting to credit back local co-gen at 50 percent what they charge the consumer…electric power has been a screw job since Westinghouse beat Tesla….

    • and they could be… why not look how the brand benefitted from selling the connection to the big boys and getting their things covered.. all for money.. we have millions of people crossing the border and some azzhole standing like he is just a moron smiling with some smug cheshire cat smile.. all while people are being sold into slavery smuggling drugs and possibly moving an army within the countries borders.. there are prosecuters that claim they are against past slavery and the ethnic abuse that was caused because of it.. but prosicuting the one that is against such activities and working for the ones that are promoting such activities.. non of it makes sense.. so Why not.. most of the people on the reservation live poor.. that is not by want but by political motivation.. the administrations tried to tell them that storing spent radioactive materials on their land would be beneficial to their health.. Blinken came right out and said a nuclear war is nothing more than going out in the summer sun and getting a sun burn..
the tribes are attempting to secure their power supplies and water supplies while the country loves to see it weakened and vulnerable to total collapse.
so are they just taking advantage of one of the Brands national benefits of their actions.. they sure could be..who would blame them … the administration will tell you how important that crap is.. there is a good reason to traffick humans put children into slavery and sexual deviants.. the cartels best friend is the smiling monkey and the Brand.. by the Hear no Evil that will refuse to do anything he justifies all of those actions.. and lets say see no evil.. he just ignores it all.. YET goes after a woman that was praying for peace.. she gets prison time.. and loses everything they have..

We were told if we don’t get the COVID Vaxx we could die. The threat was so real Trump shutoff the economy. The folks I know who didn’t get the Vaxx didn’t die. Don’t get me wrong, some folks have passed but not at scale and inversely the Vaxxed haven’t dropped at scale either.

It’s sorta like the cellphone brain tumor scares.

In our recent memories, say the last 5 years Iran has been “2 weeks away” from acquiring the bomb/materials. Now Israel is bombing Iran’s property, the embassy and still no bomb.

Fear is fear but not real.

there is some truth over the tumor scare.. how often are you on your cell phone.. does it get warm while your using it..
You can go by a substation take out a flourescent light bulb or an LED light bulb and it will light up as you walk around the sub station..
they can kill cancer with an emf field to.. or cancer can be caused by an emf field..a frequency depending on what it is.. can split the atom or break a glass cup..

      • I read the summary. There’s a little truth in everything or plausibility and I’m not saying you are wrong.

We’ve heard the one where the lady is getting ready for work and drops the can of hair spray into the commode. Next up the husband is in there sitting on the commode smoking a smoke and while still sitting ditches the lit smoke into the commode and the fumes ignite causing an explosion launching him into the air. There’s many variations for different times, link below.

By now we should all know people with brain tumors.

The mass die-off of the VAxxed/unVaxxed never happened.

Earlier today I was talking to this lady and she has a husband who is 62 Y/O. He had several mini-strokes a few weeks back that were enough to where he’s got to go to rehab. He never got the Vaxx.

  14. She who knows all – Treasury Secretary Yellen just threaten China. “Hands off helping Russia in the Ukraine war or face “serious consequences”.
Now, I know she’s not the brightest bulb in the house., but I never actually thought she was outright stupid. .., but, I guess she is.

    • Either stupid or following Orders.. Similar to See No Evil , Hear no Evil or speak no Evil…. they haven’t seen anything or heard anything or will they speak about anything .. because it is an ongoing investigation with Weise in charge of it all.. they will go back check on it.. then get back to them at a later date..
that has had me curious for a long long time.. Are they getting funds or gifts by the brand.. A warrior goes to battle to protect those he loves.. a cook cooks because he wants to make sure everyone enjoys a good meal and will get the nourisment they can get..
These guys if they are not in receipt of anything.. is really putting a lot on the line for a group that could care less about anyone other than themselves.. showing sociopathic behaviors beyond belief.. OR
Are they and their families being threatoned and being compliant with criminals is the only way to ensure the safety of their family..
There are a lot of questions there.. there has to be a good reason.. most of the time compliance like that is either from the gain of numbers.. the gain of material wealth.. or FEAR. Like the young woman that was human trafficked from the time she was a little girl.. she was to afraid to give testimony about the people that trafficked them.. fear that her family would be killed.. or she would.. spending thirty years in prison was the better option.. So what does the brand have on the three monkeys..to keep them from doing their jobs.. You don’t see the supreme court leaping into this either.. that I believe is fear also.. a system where they and their families were all put in the line of danger because they went against the Brands wishes on Abortion..

  15. Hi George

I really think the eclipse hype and preparation is about earthquake potential.

The eclipse of 1811 happened on Dec. 16 and an earthquake 7.4 – 8.2 (same day) with after shocks through January and February of 1812.

    Then, I found this …

    https://www.instagram.com/reel/C5bL9K9LN32/?igsh=MTE4cm10c2drMHRhMQ==

There’s also a (rumor/prediction) kinda credible, of a major earthquake in June of this year in the US.

Might be interesting to go back and look at (a map?) of businesses / corporations pulled away from certain areas of the country, and where many of them merged to. – just an idea.

Ya know, a hell of a lot of people have left California for (presented) reasons, but it is a fault line. Same too, that if I recall, business was downsizing and moving away from the New Madrid Fault line. Anyone else notice this in the past?

    Just thinking.

  16. Alright maybe some action soon –
