Not quite the final column of the year, but 2024 is quickly heading down the drain. A few economic highlights remain. Like the International Trade figures (hang on a sec.). Then next week before the balls drop (ahem…) there’s the Dallas Fed numbers mid-morning Monday. BYOND (bring your own NoDoz). You’ll need to save your strength for the Case-Shiller housing numbers Tuesday.
We have managed to remain neutral financially for the year. Losses in one category were offset (and then some) in others. Not point creating taxable events at this age.
2024 seems destined to be my last year of 60-hour workweeks. I am swearing off and promise to “hold 40-hours as the limit in 2025. Which is actually a bit misleading. I’ve been mulling keeping the same schedule and just whacking content back to about 500-words. Yes, the 1,800 – 2,300 word columns do take more time. Especially if they are proofed.
Prepping 4-25
I had to kid reader D’Lynn for falling for the “retail sales for the holiday were up 3.8 percent story.” Because the Fed growth of M2 (basis Nov-Nov) was 3.7-some percent. Experience argues that getting ahead in 2025 will be “just another elevator ride.”
I don’t explain this very well, or often, but it’s a useful tool when considering the economy. When I was in grad school (1996, or so) doing the “late-in-life” degree, my faculty advisor explained that best he could figure it, there were “Two flavors of Economics” being served.
The conventional – mainstream – is all those formulas pumped out in Fed papers. But there’s a kind of “hidden mechanics of it all” and we loved The Elevator Model.
Imagine the economy acts like getting on an elevator. On January 1st for 2025, say.
We’re all going to work our asses off. Putting in 0 to 3,000 hours of labor. Dutifully, the government will report the passing of “each floor as we go up.” The first floor passed will be January, the third will be March, and the ninth one September. Next year at this time, we will all get out on the 12th floor.
And that, Dear Reader, is where the “shocker is.”
“Hey! This is the Same floor I got on back in January!!! WTF!!!???”
We will all (statistically, about 97 percent, anyway) find ourselves on about the same floor we got in on a year from now.
Because in reality, while the “sales are going up” the “purchasing power is going down.” Such that AT THE END OF THE YEAR – THERE’S LITTLE (IF ANY) TANGIBLE GAINS TO SHOW FOR IT.
Con-Job ’25
A few people? They will ride the Big Picture better than us wee tykes. They will have poured money into stocks when they were at their recent lows. April 22nd this year, our Aggregate index was at 42,468.19. When the close hit December 16th, it had climbed to 52,470.42. That’s more than 23-1/2 percent. When those people get off the elevator, they will be miles ahead.
But what’s not fully revealed is that for every trade, there is a counter-party. While Dow Theory means less than it did in more agrarian times, the Dow Transport Index peaked at Thanksgiving. Since then it is down about 9-percent.
Coincident to that, Joe Granville’s On-Balance Volume has been dropping, too. A look at money flows out of the Dow reveals OBV running seriously to the downside on the down days. Only minor real money coming in in the Santa Rally, so far.
A.I. Bubble Deflating?
Then there’s the Magnificent Seven and that “whole A.I. thing.” Do we really expect it to last into 2025? A little way, sure. But pile in now? A much tougher choice. You see, over time, humans are due for replacement.
Our West Coast Consigliere has been kind enough to read me in to a very papered group a correspondents. Most of the people in this floating email world have one (or more) PhD’s. And excuse the length here, but this was so good (from one of the contributors who we’ll call Bob) that it screamed for wider circulation:
“Google Gemini has recently surpassed Chat GPT in capability. Chat GPT 4.0, Google Gemini and other Large Language Model AI in training use today are simply the input/output, communication module or user interface. Generative AI is top of mind for many but the AI revolution will come from multiple integrated AGENTS. AI must become reliably expert on specific subject matter with the ability to discern fact from fiction, story from true story. Agents meeting this criteria are under development now. The implementation and cooperative integration of these agents will have a huge impact on productivity and employment. You can see the progress made with driver-less vehicle services such as Waymo in CA. Market adoption of AI will accelerate as energy requirements and storage are met and AI is empowered with mobility and HANDS!
Here is one list of 400+ improving AI agents and the list is expanding rapidly. New agents such as HVAC, Airframe & Powerplant, House Keeping, Personal Protection and many others are under development in anticipation of mass produced bipedal robots.

—— This is happening faster than anyone forecast. We’ll soon exceed AI with internet write capability as bipedal robotics provide hands and physical mobility to AI agents. There are over a dozen hardware manufacturers working on humanoid robotics with an eye toward mass production.”
To the list, you can add engineering, law, and medicine in short order, as well. AI is coming for us all.
What Was Lost in 2024?
We again pissed away a whole year with no progress. Until, like Hunter Biden, you got that “get out of jail card” from Pops.
The Bigger Botch was failing to notice how much further behind we have gotten. Chinese Startup Debuts World’s First Mass-Produced Humanoid Robot at WAIC | Nasdaq.
Yes, that’s right. We are being replaced. Stupid humans that we are, we not only have missed the arrival of our replacements, but we are celebrating and investing in more replacements.
Sorry, this just doesn’t make sense.
But MANY bright people got 2024 wrong. Take Elon Musk, for example. Yes, he’s climbed in the sack with the Trump regime inbound and good for him. And sure, he’s a genius engineer, investor, and Rogan guest. But even the smart people “get a few things wrong.” Like Musk’s fascination with going to Mars, for example.
Mars is already broken. There is no fishing, no golf, no hikes without supplementary air. No shopping, no crafts, shops, or grand cuisine.
Not to sound like a Luddite here, but if there’s nothing there (starting with good air and water) then why go? Why are we so freaking addicted to imperialism? It’s starts at home – if your neighbor puts in a fence that intrudes 2-inches into your property, you lawyer-up. If you want to build a home, the City and the County hold divine power over building permits. Countries get pissy, too. Ukraine is warring on Russia mostly (far as we can tell) because the historical grain farmers toward the Crimea dare to speak Russian.
Unable to sort out imperialism at home, do we need to export our current collection of bullshit somewhere else?
Our family isn’t gun nuts, but I own a few legal guns and plenty of ammo. It’s not because I’m paranoid. It’s because our culture has spawned meth-heads and thieves who will suffer no remorse at our potential losses – right down to Life itself. Well, Pappy didn’t raise no fool. When crime got into business models, we armored up.
Everything is a Business Model is our founding concept here. Unfortunately, this has been discovered by cartels, Deep State actors, terrorists, and radical fringe groups.
If I were an alien species (like the plasmoids may be), I’d put out the word pronto: “Keep your shit home.”
Oh! Missed the little point that plasmoids may be a life form? Here, let’s savor some of that find Google Iterative A.I. for a sec.
A “Minimal Cell System created in Laboratory by Self-Organization” refers to a scientific experiment where researchers have successfully produced a basic, simplified cell-like structure within a lab environment, where the components of the cell spontaneously arranged themselves into a functional unit without the need for external manipulation, demonstrating the concept of “self-organization” in biological systems.
Key points about this concept:
Self-organization:
This means that the components of the “cell” (which could include molecules like lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids) naturally come together and form a structured unit due to inherent physical and chemical interactions, similar to how crystals form from a solution.
Minimal cell:
This implies that the created structure is very basic, containing only the essential components necessary for a cell-like function, potentially allowing researchers to study the fundamental building blocks of life.
Laboratory setting:
This research is conducted in a controlled lab environment, where scientists can precisely manipulate conditions to observe and study the self-assembly process.
Example research:
Plasma-based “cells”: Some scientists have reported creating plasma-based structures within a lab that exhibit certain cell-like characteristics, such as self-containment and dynamic behavior, by utilizing electrical discharges in a controlled environment.
Significance:
Understanding life’s origins:
Studying minimal cell systems could provide insights into how the first primitive cells might have formed on early Earth.
Synthetic biology applications:
This research could pave the way for designing artificial cells with specific functions for medical or industrial purposes.
So yes, flesh and blood likely have plenty of competition already; Drake’s Equation, and all that. Do we need to invent more?
THE Problem with AI
It’s simply that machinery, computers, the coming artifical intelligence (especially embodied in expert systems) coupled with robotics does what?
It holds preferential tax status over Humans.
Not wanting to sound cranky here, but when a marriage breaks, you can be f*cked by the legal system for decades. Garnished to the gutter. Anti-slavery statutes ignored.
But when a machine breaks? You can write if off in a single year. If you aren’t aware of Section179.Org – The Official Website of Section 179, bookmark it and prosper.
This “machines over humans” began back in river-power and steam days. And it’s only gotten worse.
Say you want to invent a new whizzy and you’re a company. You either write off the expense in a single year – or if its bigger? Spread it out over a few per the Tax Code.
But now say you go on a “date” with another human. The financial payoff could be the same (or greater). But, can you write off the cost of your research? I mean, that’s the point of dating, right? To invent a little “happily ever after”? Nope, can’t do it. Women can’t write off the fashion and war paint, unless they are on camera or in “acting” (they all are, but that’s a different topic). Same for guys: Can’t write off the costs of dinner and drinks, can you?
No, the world is already Tax-Stacked to punish humans. Tax the machines based on the number of hours they work per year. Own a machine that replaces a human? The Machine Owes Income Tax. And it’s only by getting crystal clear on Human Primacy that we can return to being stewards of the planet and getting things back in balance. You are a last place tax dope.
If that sounds a little too tree-huggerish and Luddite to you? Have a good trip to Mars, take the freaking robots with you. Enjoy the chemical food and airless golf.

Why go to Mars? All the altruistic B.S. aside, the answer can be summed up in one word. “Industry.”
– Human curiosity and creativity drives industry (until now with AI coming online) and industry enabled our human progress to date. Musk is leading the charge in industrial vice national space industry technologies. Once he starts producing the orbital equivalent of bi-planes, hopping from Earth to orbit, from orbit to the moon, from the moon to Mars, Mars to larger asteroids, and so on, space industry ops will normalize in the human psyche and soon humans will be moving on from biplane equivalents to (insert Ure wild idea here).
– Space mining. This goes hand-in-hand with space industry, but asteroids and planetary moons look to hold an unfathomable wealth of rare and precious materials. AI will likely manage the heavy lifting.
– Darwinian principle, aka survival of the species. Human are breeding like rabbits and literally pissing in our own bathtubs. Why stay Earthbound when there’s a whole solar system (and beyond) to piss on? However, the AI wild card could result in humanity either becoming extinct due to AI overtaking us or our species marrying into AI and co-evolving to become a real world version of the Borg from Star Trek Next Generation fame.
One thing is for sure – there’s lots of rich Sci Fi material to cover all of the possible options for what may be coming our way soon.
Devil Girl from Mars (1954)
Nyah, a female commander from Mars, heads for London in her flying saucer. She is part of the advance alien team looking for Earthmen to replace the declining male population on her world, the result of a “devastating war between the sexes”.
She is armed with a raygun that can paralyse or kill, and is accompanied by a tall, menacing robot named Chani.
Nyah happens across the inn, incinerates the Jamiesons’ handyman David, and enters the bar. When she finds no one willing to come with her to Mars, she responds with intimidation, trapping the guests and staff within an invisible wall and turning Chani loose to vaporise much of the manor’s grounds.

see now I was thinking that airless golf……
we use to call good golfers HOTDOGS….
They come out matching shorts and socks the little hat and the club covers.. I was always working..the Dr. friend of mine we worked together when he was in school.. anyway he said..your going to think this is crazy but I am going to prescribe golf twice a week..you can’t play it unless your relaxed.. so I found some clubs in the trash and a ground pounder I became..another ground pounder and I went to play and a turament was about to begin..but they had a couple of hot dogs play with us so we would be done before the tournament.. I get up…swing batter batter swing.. I hit the ball .. it landed about five feet away . the one hot dog and the other started to laugh and said to the other ground pounder..God he has to be the crappies golfer I have ever seen…yes he is horrible at golf.. then the one hot dog gets up swish sounded like a shotgun hoping off..the ball lands on the green… the second hot dog gets up swish it to sounded like a shot gun going off and it lands on the green…now it’s ground pounder 2 ..he gets up swing batter batter swing…his ball landed about a foot further than mine..lol the looks those two gave us was iconic.. we let them play through..it was one of the most fun games I ever had..on the 8th hole gp2 lost his ball and goes to get one..opens his ball bag and out drops a 357 pistol..I said what in the hell is that for..in case I win lol lol..
he says you never know when you’ll need one..
so lack of gravity golf.. dam I maybe could hit the ball and make it to the green. lol lol lol it does have its benefits..

yup that’s how I played golf.. another golf story is.. A coworker and I was well known to be just that the creepiest golfers alive..the doctor friend and ex coworker..( he now is retired was the medical director of a big hospital and all around great guy.. that is learning how to woodwork. he became my doctor when I had strep throat. he had just graduated and his new clinic. he comes out all excited..you gotta come look at this..he had just gotten his new microscope..the passion and excitement..) anyway he prescribed golf I worked an average of a hundred hours a week.. and you have to relax to play golf..in a high stress work life its the best thing ever.. well one day my other high strung digit digger and I had the day off..we went to the course beautiful place..we were shooting balls and drinking cold beverages all day long.. the local radio station announcer and a guy that owned a company in our city were stuck they had us at partners.. ( we were working to get the trophy a golfer on a bronze toilet paper) but less and I were relaxed real relaxed.. we started playing ..both of the guys the radio DJ and his partner and us..they had beautiful clubs mine were dragged out of the trash bin and looked it.. after six holes less comes up and whispers..hey did you notice those two are cheating..So your not jack and I’m not Arnold so who cares..the one guy was so upset they were losing two the two worst gophers and would be raised forever..
that game lost us the bronze toiletpaper trophy.. and the radio DJ got so upset over a stupid game that he bent in the shape of a horse shoe a two hundred dollar club..we got a chuckle out of it..but that one game cost us our trophy and I got a good lifetime story experience..
another golf club story gotta love it.. I went with someone to a yearly event where people get a community achievement award.. at the country club.. members only.. meal etc. they came out with this fancy plate a tiny piece of meat three green beans and a small baby potato it looked like a bird with the gravy swirled around the outside of the plate..it was good but I had to stop at burger king afterwards.. a few years later..a bunch of us were selected to go to the country club with the director of the hospital system.. one of the coworkers leaned over and said..hey have you ever eaten here before. yes ..how’s the food..its great but you’ll have to go over to burger king after we leave.. the waitress was putting the water on the table..she came back later and was getting everyone’s order..got to me and asked they had chicken Alfredo.. she calmly asks would you like a whole order or a half order..
oh honey I will need a whole order.. meals coming out she’s putting everyone’s in front of them then goes back and comes out with this huge bowl like my large bread mixing bowl…
full to the top with chicken Alfredo …enough to feed the whole town lol lol I laughed and said you know your making me look bad.. great life experience story lol lol
two country clubs here both exclusive got to eat at the other one every month for years..never played golf there though..
I could never hit a golf ball. Freshman in college I had to take a phys. Ed. class and ‘Intro to Golf’ was one offered. Got to the class and found all the other students were already golfers and signed up for the ‘slacker’ class. Nobody was teaching anything… just go out and practice. I never did learn how to hit that ball with a full swing.
Miniature golf was my speed. I could putt thru those obstacles just fine.

“Human are breeding like rabbits and literally pissing in our own bathtubs.”
Only in the third world. Birthrates are significantly down, in every developed nation.
I can still remember the “guilt-grab” commercials from the 1980s:
Hundreds of thousands of Ethiopian children under the age of three are dying of starvation every week… (or some such tripe.)
I told my wife (at the time) instead of food, why the hell don’t we send them condoms? They aren’t suffering from famine; they’re suffering from massively outbreeding their resources.
I did the math at the time. Ethiopian women of breeding age had to be pumping out a baby every 11 months, for the numbers to work out that way.
Years ago both the wife and I decided we would send some grain..they use old world grain .. we wouldn’t give to organizations because most of those only send a penny or two for every hundred dollars donated. I got the name and address for a mission and we went to a local grain exporter .. We got to the exporter and ordered a couple tons of millet poor mans potatoes to be delivered to the mission went to pay and the guy said don’t waste your money..the grain won’t even leave here..I said what..yup the politicians seize incoming crops then sell it back to us.. so we never did it..
one great organization though is the water school..every penny goes to the people its intended for..
https://www.waterschool.com/the-solution/
another one I like is giving the gift of an animal or tool..
https://donate.worldvision.org/gift-catalog/animals
give a man a fish and he has a meal give a man a fishing rod and teach him how and he can feed his family..
the salvation Army to.. great organization ..
I don’t like pissing money away to monetarily sustain people who have considerably more-lavish lifestyles than I. I’m a donor to few charities. The Water School is one. I consider it an honor to do so…
I told my wife (at the time) instead of food, why the hell don’t we send them condoms? They aren’t suffering from famine; they’re suffering from massively outbreeding their resources.”
I had the same thought 24 years ago when I retired from my business and started a volunteer water program in East Africa. I learned a few things pretty quick.
1. Women were treated like Chattel with no rights to say no.
2. Teen pregnancies were high as girls were raped travelling miles every day to get water.
3. Child deaths rates were high from preventable disease (mainly water borne).
4. Education was almost non existent especially in rural areas.
When I returned home from my first trip, my wife asked me what the solution was. I told her “Educate and empower the women and girls.” Handing out condoms did not seem like a long term answer.
I was fortunate to connect with a Canadian who had lived in Africa and understood African society. We combined his knowledge and my water chemistry experience for 10 years trying to get clean water and solid education programs for Africans.
Education is empowerment and not easily taken away.
We chose Uganda for our efforts where we found an existing level of educated young people, teachers and medical people that could understand and spread the program. We focused on women and girls.
I am well into second retirement now but look back with satisfaction that we made some good decisions and planted good seeds back then.
Here are a couple of studies of interest.

Amen…. I have know several refugees through the years.. heard some crazy stuff that none of us would understand because we haven’t had it as a life experience. they sell young women for as little as a few bucks..
my old sea daddy won the medal and lived..he deserved two of them..when he was in the middle east he wanted to hire a maid..they aren’t allowed to work..he had to buy a woman at the auction.. they became friends and eventually got married and had kids he insisted that she get an education.. up until this year she had doctor on her return address..she was listed in the who’s who of most influential physicians in the world.. great woman nice kids and she doesn’t know I know the back story..
she wouldn’t have ever been able to achieve that if it hadn’t of been for him being lazy and wanting a maid..

And I’ve commented before on your blatant racism of the Japanese… most of whom in Hawaii are second or third generation Americans… not that you would know the difference.
Wonderful thought – won’t happen in my life time ……
“Tax the machines” : You nailed it. Use AI and start the lawsuit using equal protection under the law? Soon drones will be visiting those that think that way? That was the best statement of 2024! Thanks for all the thoughts you print!
Don’t forget to make the machines pay into SSI for every hour worked.
The machines should be costed at a rate equivalent to the people replaced, say 2X Minimum wage, say $30/hour.
1) By all means, reduce the load. Be sure to Enjoy Life, above all else. I do suggest you do one-liners and make for commentspace to open. We (all) DO enjoy the blend of opinion we get in the comments.
2) All the big newsies – nets, CNN, Fox, MSm=, etc., “Glam” up the news with high production values. Big-name personalities, extemsive CGI, “chin lights” in the desks,
Makeup&hair, lotta greenscreen… …and so on. “Newsmax” does not for the most part. Don’t read too much into this, but it could be a trend towards simpler, more honest and unambellished coverage.
3) Mars can be terroformed over a few decades to a few hundred years to a shirt-sleeve environment. Comets have tons of water and gasses, can be re-aimed to come iin at a shallow grazing angle, and deliver the needed ingredients over time. Canned air and “M”-rations from Earth can never be viable for large populations.
4) It’s beem 25 years ince Y2K. 23 since nine-eleven. We’ll get by.
Happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
out
Sorry – but Mars can never be terraformed. It has no magnetosphere to hold the atmosphere on the planet. Without it, the atmosphere will slowly be stripped away by Sun’s cosmic winds.., which is what happened in the first place and destroyed any chance of viable life to evolve.
Colonizing and living on Mars will be a life in a dome., tunnels and EV Suits. Might be a fun vacation., but living there would become rather boring and stifling.
“Hey, Honey – let’s go for an evening walk.”
“I can’t., my suit is being upgraded., won’t be ready ’til tomorrow.”
Just read what I posted – I worded that wrong. My bad. The Magnetosphere protects the planet’s atmosphere from the solar winds – it does hold it to the planet. When Mars lost it’s magnetosphere it lost its atmosphere – and any chance of evolving life.
You can not ‘terraform’ a planet that has no magnetosphere – no way to protect the atmosphere and surface water from being blown-off into space.
Constant re-supply. There are lots of water-heavy comets. Graze ’em in goosey-way — shallow intercept orbit –every few years as needed.
Want to be on Mars when that is attempted?????
Pass! I’ll be on the earthly links or by a river fishing…
Underground supplies.
– we have legacy pictures from NASA own archives showing a hose/nozzle jetting water out from sub surface. They can be seen at Farsight.org. They were the basis for one of their projects to take closer look at Mars.
Legend has it Mars was breadbasket of solar system. Also said to be Zeuses’ preferred home. That is until he wasted neighboring planet of Female Priestesses’& couple of Abgail “amphibians” – Mulge and its Moon Mugle-Tab.
That explosion caused the all the destruction Mars, and eventually on Earth..great flood.
Legends..
Legend? From whom. Come on man, drop the cult following and give us data not BS
C’mon guys. Mars can absolutely be terraformed, but only under glass. Atmosphere aside, it is far too cold and inhospitable. Musk is perfectly capable of building an outpost on Mars, the Moon, or both. What he’s not capable of, using current technology, is creating a permanent settlement — not because it can’t be done, but because he won’t live long enough — even if he lives to be 100. Elon is dreaming of taking things which require hundreds of years to come to fruition, and radically shrinking the amount of time involved. I wish him luck…
As for “Why would we?” The answer is “Why wouldn’t we?”
If Man does not forever expand our knowledge and experience we will stagnate and die, as a species. Earthbound Mankind might make it a couple thousand more years, but in all likelihood will either commit suicide as a species, or bore ourselves to death before hitting puberty, thus self-eliminating our gene pool.
Whatever we do is not going to matter one whit to ourselves. It will matter a great deal to those who come after. Should we simply kick the can down the road, or should we use our skills, many of which will die with us, to teach those who come after, and pass some of our skills along…?
Every journey, no matter how long or difficult, begins with a single step.
Do we take the step or kick the can?
(“If Man does not forever expand our knowledge and experience we will stagnate and die, as a species. Earthbound Mankind might make it a couple thousand more years, but in all likelihood will either commit suicide as a species”)
I believe we are now… we are carpenter ants.. we destroy our planet through expansion.. Its the business model that’s at fault..
I could go off on my rant on solar towers and green scaping and building air wells in arid regions .. the problem is the business model.. its cheaper to build the solar towers and hand out grid tie systems..that’s what the native American tribes are doing one large array battery backup per so many homes and the grid ties .. green scapeing cities ..but a family that can walk out pick a salad or meal won’t buy the products at the store..
we live in a throw away society..every person tosses out a gallon of oil a week just in palative and other spun oil products.. asphalt and concrete is cheaper than green scapeing ..
I don’t think the M2 Money supply has as the immediate impact on consumer spending as inflation does. Which I did mention. [ Didn’t I ? I don’t feel like going back and checking. ] Which is why I didn’t mention it.] So.., we differ on that point.
And please, no lecture on how the Money Supply affects the unwashed masses. I am well aware of that manipulation.

Five inches on the ground and snowing pretty good at the moment. The valley floor is behind in snow fall, so far this Winter., but slightly above normal for the mountain ranges – where it really counts.
(Oh… Sorry.)
5) If ‘bots ‘n AI is the future, then why does ET, from mantis’s to Nordics, show no evidence? (Assuming they’re more advanced,) (Did ET-based AI “go organic?”) Or does “Bots’n AI” miss some essential, perhaps spiritual, transcendental elment?
Either machine-based AI is a passing fad, or we re not likely to replace ourselves.
Maybe “consciousness” is ineffable but necessary to mainain Life — to grok “Meaning.”
Or, maybe blues and greys and Nordics and mantis’s are all decended from bots ‘n AI. Maybe all them guys are what bots ultimately bcome when they gain true souls.
I’d love to ask one.

Bank of America is in the process of buying $990 million dollars worth of multi-family housing mortgages.
Maybe it’s just my Bearish outlook right now., but that does not seem to be a very wise move at the moment.
Guess they see a different economy going forward.
BoA stock-YTD High / $48.08
Currently trading at: $44.11 / down one percent this morning on the news. However, 22 analyst have it listed as a buy., but ‘under-performing’.
a quarterly dividend of $0.26 a share on Dec 27th [ today ] Roughly 2.3% annual ROI
Warren Buffett has sold more than 90.4 million shares of Bank of America stock this year.., but then, Buffet has been a net-seller of stocks for six, or seven consecutive quarters.
– Me ? I would be selling my BoA stock and looking for a better ROI.
Preparing for the Great Taking?
Has anyone heard of the development of an A.I. trading program? That would seem to me, to be a logical step – especially from a money stand-point.
Lets say someone does and it is wildly successful. Would it still be effective if millions of players are in the exact same trade., day after day ?
Lots of questions in regards to this – guess it’s a wait and see. I doubt we will have to wait too long.
I’ve received several ads for (allegedly) AI-based trading programs. Haven’t investigated any. If I had a very useful AI trading program, I would be trading like a fiend, not selling it for any amount of money. Also, generally, if a system works it will fail when too many people start using it. The historic example is Dogs of the Dow but I am suspect there are many others. I suspect much of the algorithmic trading done by the big boys now involves AI. I haven’t notice of them selling their software!
Sorry about the typos. Touched return before brain enaged.
No worries. I do that all the time. haven’t you noticed?
Several – all based on Cyrpto..BTC in particular.
Just released trading bot based on Tone Vays MRI program.
So far been a winner winner chicken dinner.

hmm we have crypto miners they harvest what a minute amount in data..
why not an Ai generated money harvester.. across the vast digital banking system.. seriously how many would notice a few pennies.. that’s why I quit using one banking software.. it was consistently a few cents off after the information and control went to another country for control of everyone’s bank..
Ask Blackrock about their supercomputer.

Just another reason I don’t ‘invest’ in paper.
Don’t panic folks., it is not a sell-off – just year-end profit taking so the books look good while closing-out the year.
My aggregate – “Carnac The Magnificent” is getting smacked really good – down 1.66% this morning., but there is still a couple of hours to go.
There is just too much going on – on the sidelines, right now. Don’t believe I will jump-in at the close for the Monday Morning Bingo session.
I can wait..,
Or is it inside selling ahead of an iran pop – inquiring minds and all that
When you bring up inside selling, don’t forget my other revenue idea.
Tax every computer based trade done for the “house”, not a retail trader, an excise tax of $1.
There are a billion trades executed on Wall Street every day, and I’ll bet not 10% are for an actual retail trader. Most are done for the house, when a certain signal is reached, like say a crossing moving average. The House is betting against us traders at the speed of light (electron).
Fine but let the pay a sales tax of a buck for each trade done for themselves and not a client.
I’m sure the general revenue could use another $350BB a year.

Tax Season – Selling to Cover LTCGains tax due.
I did mine earlier in week – Monday to be specific, for home ofc accts.
Did not have enough losers to cover all the gains, and obviously you cant sell Winners, as that would incur MOAR Tax due.
I was able to get about 50 % reductions on their pending LTCG taxes. Best part about Selling Losers, rather than hold the Receipts for 31 days and reinvesting. I no likey not being invested, so bot into 3 new postions. Can you guess which 3?
I have posted 2 of them on here recently; RGTI and IONQ – quantum computer plays, and WDS paying a 8%+ dividend yield.
WDS is lastest “cornerstone” portfolio postion..slowly building position over years.
RGTI = 54% in one week..acting like frigging Coffee Beans. And to think they throw out the most nutritious, healthy part of Fruit, the Coffee Berry! Well not everyone, but most do, can be found in Biotest Superfood.
There was a Hawaii company that was selling coffee berry juice for awhile. Tasty and dam healthy stuff with a huge antioxidant pop. Haven’t seen it lately, and I fear it went under.
This certainly had a different “feel” to it right on the open – NDX bounced off of trendline. Everything looks ready to tumble – but God only knows what games they may play next week. I think someone posted there were only 17% advancing issues lowest end of year % since 62.
Traditions
I have always considered a “tradition” something that was handed down through the generations. Some are on a global scale – like Christmas [ tough it has changed quite a bit from its beginnings.] Some are only three or four generations.
I am the fifth generation of a family hand-me-down tradition. Started on my mother’s Scottish side of the family – though I do not believe it is a Scottish tradition.
Our New Year’s Eve Dinner. It is deliberately simple and quiet. A large pot of ham and bean soup [ this year it is large lima beans ] and large loaf of fresh baked herb bread. That’s it. What ever you care to drink – is up to you. And we end it with a glass, or two, of wine.
We usually eat under candle light and talk about the year behind and are thankful for how it has gone., and a lot of talk ’bout the year ahead and thankful we have so many choices.
I do hope that you had a good year and are thankful to have a New Year with so many possibilities awaiting you.
Happy New Year., One-N-All !
That’s a great tradition.
The family I grew up in was never close enough to pass down any kind of traditions.

Folks,
Youtube channel NIYSO is completing a second hour of Russian language livechat on the platform with about 330 listeners tuned in. The channel is a supporter of the Chechen government-in-exile whose leader’s extradition requests by Russia had been dealt with in London twenty years ago. Their leader Brigadier General Zakayev has been the Chechen Prime Minister-in-exile since 2007. It seems he arrived via the Ministry of Culture having been a past chairman of the Chechen Union of Theatrical Actors according to “Wikipedia”.
His Chechen-manned Separate Special Forces Battalion is said to be fighting in Ukraine against Russia.
re: a walk in the snow 2?
feat: of noble mettle?
Folks,
Around 130 years ago non-crypto miners were commencing efforts to remove copper and gold ore from the Josie Mine and others near Red Mountain, BC. Today the Red Mountain area features an acclaimed resort and the area’s Josie Mine is namesake of a boutique ski-out hotel. The former is owned by a real estate developer from California, the latter is held by a real estate investor from Texas.
The red flags guests of the hotelier might be seeing this week are not to be of alarm. The red-sloganed Liberal Party’s Prime Minister of Canada has apparently forsaken his oft-Christmas sojourn to the private Jamaican estate of a billionaire friend. Instead Red Mountain is this year’s choice of destination. The ski runs are reputed to offer superior dry powder conditions for skilled users.
Of course, on February 29, 1984, the current PM’s father resigned as PM after having taken “a walk in the snow”.

Folks,
Mea culpa. I had not realized that it is 26 years since the tragic passing of the PM’s youngest brother on Red Mountain. Here is a link to a July 2024 hiker’s passage account that includes the walk in the snow stretch between Slocan Chief Cabin and Kokanee Lake.

For those of you who are approaching retirement age (59.5+ years) who are still employed and have a 401K, you can withdraw or rollover as much or as little of the 401K as suits you, while you are still employed. Your employer has no say in the matter. Past 59.5, employer restrictions on distributions evaporate.
Most 401K’s have online accounts with self-service distribution options. If you do a direct rollover deposit, it leaves more of a paper trail. If you do a rollover check, you will probably have to disclose the institution it is going to, but not the account number. Try to leave at least $5 to keep the 401K active. You can expect a $75 or so transaction fee, and $30 for overnight priority delivery, so this is not something you do for pocket change. You can always do more draws later, if you keep putting money in.
I hope to have received the final UPS package from Amazon this morning. It contains the embroidered name tags for the dog’s blaze orange vests: Thelma, Louise, Starsky, Hutch, and Buck. Diana brings our coffee and looks at them on the table. “Who’s Buck?” she asked. “What??? The new one. She told me his name was not Buck, it was Jeffery. “You better order him a new one.” I pointed out to my love that he had a collar with a tag that said Buck when we got him. She said, ” He didn’t like that name so we changed it to Jeffery.”
I suppose that is why he never listens to me. WTF.
Stay safe. 73
Sounds like our latest adoptee who showed up on April 15 this year and refused to leave. I named her Dolly. My wife asked why in the world I would do that. I told her that’s what the dog said her name was. Problem solved.
Hmmm…
see I am not the only one that sees the situation as futile and unsustainable…

the Emergency Banking Act, March 9, 1933, 48 Stat. 1, Public Law 89-719; declared by President Roosevelt, being bankrupt and insolvent. Will we go that route again?
JFK made an executive order..
(“President Kennedy’s Executive Order (E.O.) 11110 modified the pre-existing Executive Order 10289 issued by U.S. President Harry S. Truman on September 17, 1951, and stated the following:[15]
The Secretary of the Treasury is hereby designated and empowered to perform the following-described functions of the President without the approval, ratification, or other action of the President…
E.O. 10289 then lists tasks (a) through (h) which the Secretary may now do without instruction from the President. None of the powers assigned to the Treasury in E.O. 10289 relate to money or to monetary policy.
President Kennedy’s E.O. 11110, in its entirety, follows:
SECTION 1. Executive Order No. 10289 of September 19 [sic], 1951, as amended, is hereby further amended —
(a) By adding at the end of paragraph 1 thereof the following subparagraph (j):
“(j) The authority vested in the President by paragraph (b) of section 43 of the Act of May 12, 1933, as amended (31 U.S.C. 821 (b)), to issue silver certificates against any silver bullion, silver, or standard silver dollars in the Treasury not then held for redemption of any outstanding silver certificates, to prescribe the denominations of such silver certificates, and to coin standard silver dollars and subsidiary silver currency for their redemption,” and
(b) By revoking subparagraphs (b) and (c) of paragraph 2 thereof.
SEC. 2. JOHN F. KENNEDY
THE WHITE HOUSE,
June 4, 1963 “)
there have been conspiracy theories that because of the fear that The federal reserve would be eliminated that that was one reason why he was assassinated..
fast forward to Biden that’s basically destroyed and tossed the federal reserve under the wheels of war and free spending..
i believe that Zimbabwe Wasn’t as mismanaged as the us is.. unending wars pushing for more wars and throwing the country out the window..
https://www.economicsonline.co.uk/managing_the_economy/understanding-zimbabwes-economic-collapse-causes-and-consequences.html/#:~:text=Zimbabwe%E2%80%99s%20economic%20collapse%20is%20rooted%20in%20a%20web,policy%20mismanagement%2C%20international%20isolation%2C%20and%20structural%20economic%20weaknesses.
the same story with Argentina.. so what happened..
once the richest people literally went to bed wealthy..then woke up poor..
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-04-11/argentina-100-per-cent-inflation-crisis/102179458
its the same here..you check prices at several stores to get the best price.. just eggs and milk bread is a three digit number.. plus cents..
then Biden going to send even more cash in the next few days.. hmm what could go wrong with that huh.. and no one in congress seems to believe any of this is worth going back to work for.. business as usual..
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-04-11/argentina-100-per-cent-inflation-crisis/102179458
now question..the butterfly effect if all this is ..the wealthiest on the planet will hurt the most..all fiat currencies will be toast..its to their benefit..to pay the deficit off..will they?
doing that would stop the Bric’s in its path.. letting the velocity of cash end instead of keeping it flowing will propel the Bric’s to the top of the heap.
look what happened to Zimbabwe after China stepped in..
it was 39,000,000.00 A loaf then China stepped in and As of 2023, a standard loaf of white bread costs approximately ZWL$150. that is a drastic fall in prices..
I totally see them throwing the dollar bill to the wind and dropping the federal reserve.. then starting from square one..tell the puppeteers to suck walley the usa is bankrupt and we won’t care anymore about their drive to have us destroy more for their greed..
this is a tricky situation and Biden really is leaving the country in a horrific situation..and everyone knows it..
if you don’t have money you cannot spend money.. we learned from vivid that if the velocity of cash slows everyone suffers..its the velocity of cash that keeps it all moving..
but then who am I and what do I know..I am at the bottom of the pile and can’t show anyone..I am just a moron idiot in the wastelands of the usa..
