Earthbound Marvels

Merry Christmas and happy Chanukah! There wasn’t going to be a column today, but the urge to write was running strong so here we are…

We will pass on most (but not all) of the daily news flow.  Plus we still have the rest of the week to get through…

And, above all, we are keeping an eye on “named days” because Earthquakes, just to name one class of news event, have a way of getting “holiday names” pinned to them, Good Friday in 1964 and the Boxing Day quake, if you don’t remember Banda Aceh.

Today?  What I hope passes muster of science-based speculation into the recent flurry of activity in the skies.  Which is kind of appropriate, given the date.  Things in the sky have a way of “leading wise men”.

Oh, the website winner is announced, too.

  1. Dear Humans-

    NOT Drones .

They are SHIPS . And you cant touch this..

Bigger is better and up next for the zombies/skeptics.

They are “Friendlies” – here for a major assist in breaking out of and breaking down the prison farm, so youse all can Choose..

  2. Had an unusual dream a few days ago.

Walked out of the house, walked across the yard to the fence and the once street was flowing with water.

I heard there had been a great earthquake in the USA.

The ground had shifted causing the river to take the lower path along the street.

  6. Believe it or not an alien invasion is set for tomorrow. Be ready.

“There wasn’t going to be a column today…”

Recall a few years back the video of Katy Perry malfunctioning on stage probably do to exhaustion and Big Pharma but many folks said she was possessed by demons. We need a webcam on G. “He said he wouldn’t write but there he’s headed to the keyboard… must be possessed”.

    feat: an outside story

    Folks,

There’s more than a glimmer of hope that the path to the future is in good hands. “The War Between the Land and the Sea” should be materializing sometime in 2025 on Disney+ and BBC1. It’s a spinoff of the ‘Whoinverse’.

As the 11th Doctor prescribed in ‘The Big Bang’: “We’re all just stories in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?”

    Merry Christmas!

  8. Regarding the Vegas video..,
    .
Before you block-up the entrance to your cave., hoping to survive the alien bombardment, I suggest you take a look at: Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 – Halo / ‘Pelican’. Look familiar ?
    .
.., and why, after eight days, there is not one other video of such a unique craft loitering over one of the busiest cities in the country ? No one else happen to have a cell phone handy ?
    .
Sorry., this is not an escapee from Area 51.

  9. Almost time to start dinner.
The PN “drone” footage looks more like a full size attack aircraft. When it is hovering close to the camera (I am assuming camera is on a roof or upper floor observation deck), I can make out what looks like a glassed cockpit in the side view.
The camera work is excellent (maybe too good). No CGI or AI anomalies jump out, but there is no heat or thrust visible. At about 20 seconds, I think I hear “It’s loud”.
There are pods under stubby wings which is where I would expect engines/drives to go. The aft/tail configuration is odd; if one was trying to put components with shielding issues back there, that would match.
Test crews fly out of Vegas to desert locations. Maybe the cloak went offline. Good find G_____.

  10. Congratulations to Mike!! I look forward to what he has to say. He sounds like an excellent choice. I love that Elaine made the difficult choice. It shows how well you guys work together and balance each other out. You guys have a special relationship.

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope you all got at least one incredibly cool gift this year.

  11. Remember folks.., math doesn’t lie – people lie about the math.
In the early 70’s MIT scientist issued a dire warning – Civilization would collapse in 2000 due to over population and over production from limited resources and subsequently resource depletion. Massive die-off of humans. In 1998 they revised their prediction based on many “beginning” errors and new, unanticipated technology. Civilization would collapse in 2020. In late 2020 another revision., and then just last month, yet another revision.
We now have until 2040.., but they got to thinking bout it and did a second study and changed the parameters.., then a third study., as the second study showed very little change., but the third study proved far more interesting.
By placing A.I. in charge of every country., from production, resources and pollution the population declined to the point of total collapse. As the population started to decline, less and less production occurred.., less and less food was produced., leading to more and more people dying., leading to even less production., to the point of total collapse., and world wide die-off. What’s the loss of three, or four billion humans amongst computer programs., eh ?
No matter the scenario that MIT used., we as a planet species are destined to die-off.
.., or, they could just revise the predictive model “again” and give us undeserving over-eaters, another forty to fifty years.
    .
I can’t remember who said it., but; “Everyone has a plan, until they get punched in the face.” [ Tyson? ]

  12. As A.I. and CGI continue to improve and develop, it will no longer be possible to be sure ANYTHING you see or hear is true.

At some point, even if you see it “live” with your own eyes only.

Personally, I think we’re there now.
