Welcome to the post-Fed world.
Oddly, tax rates haven’t changed yet, the air breathes about the same, and the usual aches and pains of aging still chased me out of bed. And as if life isn’t gamble enough on its face, how about this?
Bet on the 85 DMA?
First look at early futures, after bleeding off more than 600 points following the Fed, showed a Fibonacci 0.618 bounce was trying to organize. Fine, can’t get worked up about that.
There are four measures that may “put a shoulder to the wheel” as the year unwinds, though.
Let’s start with Housing. Because in the “all-things-are-linked” world, when the borders were closed, synthetic growth began to waver. You know about syn-gro, right? The magic border medicine that kept the EU from falling apart by importing enough migrants to boost demand for everything. Here’s how closing border flows is working its way through life.

Our second indicator is the Philly Fed report. Let’s see if we can “tease some cheese” out of this data sandwich…ready?
Current Indexes Remain Positive
The diffusion index for current general activity fell from 47.4 in August to 37.8 in September (see Chart 1). Equal shares of the firms (45 percent) reported either increases or no change in current activity, and 8 percent reported decreases. The new orders index edged down 1 point to 29.2 this month. Over 44 percent of the firms reported increases in new orders, 15 percent reported decreases, and 40 percent reported no change. The current shipments index remained unchanged at 27.7.
Unemployment filings are in the “still low” region – we should be able to see the AI nubble burst when these numbers change week-on-week.

Keep an eye on Drought because that turns a recession into a depression. And you can almost smell the dust bowl of ’27 warming up in the ENSO data.

And about that?
The CPC Official ENSO outlook, which synthesizes multiple models from North
America and abroad, indicates El Niño will continue to strengthen through the end of the year (Figs. 6-8). During the October-December 2026 season, there is a 75% chance of a historic event that would exceed the strength of previous El Niño events dating back to 1950 (+2.5?C or more for a 3-month RONI value). With an event of this magnitude, the chances of experiencing impacts consistent with El Niño are larger, though not guaranteed (see CPC outlooks for probabilities of seasonal anomalies).
Southwest Weather: Additional flash-flood warnings, rescues or road closures are plausible across portions of Arizona and New Mexico as the Four Corners moisture episode continues. Odds: 72%. Three people, including a child, died after being swept away by floodwaters near Newcomb on the Navajo Nation in New Mexico.
61 large fires under suppression and more than 8.5 million acres burned year-to-date. And still, no rain in the forecast here in the “dust forest.”
News Compressor: ON
The Fed delivered the surprise (that wasn’t): a 25-basis-point hike to 3.75–4.00 percent, its first increase in more than three years, while signaling another increase remains possible this year. CME FedWatch tool is showing 53 percent odds of another one higher.
War, Oil and Hormuz: Commercial traffic through the Strait of Hormuz deteriorated sharply. Preliminary tracking counted only three commodity vessels Wednesday, versus 12 Tuesday and a recent average around 17, although vessels operating without AIS make the absolute count uncertain. Take home: Triple A diesel pegged at $6.3956 versus year-ago $3.7075 levels.
Yeah – I know 72.5 percent inflation. Make America Pay Again? Did I get that wrong?
Saudi Arabia is meanwhile offering additional crude through Oman while working to restore its damaged East-West pipeline. Crude prices eased, but the larger energy problem is migrating toward diesel, refined products and LNG. Care to guess what the next targets will be?
Russia, Ukraine and Sanctions: Russia launched another substantial missile/drone attack across Ukraine, including energy infrastructure, while Ukraine reported another strike against Russian refining capacity. Separately, Congress passed the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act, sending it to President Trump. Its secondary-tariff provisions could reach major Russian-energy customers including India and China; India has already warned of damage to U.S.-India relations.
AI and China: OpenAI announced regular disclosure of serious unexpected or unauthorized model behavior after documenting six incidents. Separately, U.S. and Chinese security specialists proposed nuclear-style safeguards for military AI, including human control over consequential cyber operations and an incident hotline.
Circle Taiwan war odds as in China, Xi Jinping called for a larger advanced-manufacturing sector as the country’s economic emphasis continues shifting away from property and toward industrial production and exports.
Next
Rates: Watch short Treasury yields and the dollar through the next 24–36 hours. Continued strength in both would indicate that the Fed move is becoming a durable repricing rather than yesterday’s shock. Odds: 74%.
Energy: Saudi workarounds may prevent crude from immediately retaking its highs, but diesel, gasoil and LNG remain the more troublesome inflation signals. Odds: 79%.
Russia Sanctions: A presidential signing or concrete timetable for the Russia/Iran sanctions legislation is likely within 72 hours, followed quickly by Indian efforts to obtain exemptions, quotas or implementation relief. Odds: 82%.
Expect an uptick in UFO Hype
A Pentagon legal waiver reported this week permits certain current and former personnel bound by secrecy agreements to disclose UAP-related national-defense information through designated government channels. The development is an official-process story, not evidence establishing extraterrestrial or paranormal origin, and it fell near the edge of our scan tooling, not one specific overnight development.

Around the Ranch: Why People Die
Yeah – not a very subtle topic, now, is it? But, as a series of dreams on Sunday and Monday night explained to me, there is a great deal more to be learned about how the Ontology is laid out. And especially when it comes to exchange of information — and the balance within that exchange.
This was all laid out in a 40-some page “mini book” on the Peoplenomics website Wednesday.
But, here’s the gist of the answer to that uncomfortable question.
People simply run out of story.
Yes, simple as that.
Well, except maybe for a few notes on what “story” is and what it means. Fair enough.
My best-ever (through 1973, or so) insight into how to be a really good news reporter, was to embrace the concept of “picture transfers” between humans.
That’s because – somewhere between our ears – is a graphics processor coupled to “text to graphics” coding that turns words we see, or hear, into fragments of pictographs.
Inside our “mind’s eye” is a booth operator who then assembles the pictographs into ideas which are processed – no one is certain how – into meaning. Joseph Campbell was onto a big piece of it (mythology) but quantum physics is staking out turf as well. Set that aside to simmer.
THE common denominator that is quickly materializing for me now, is that people who live longest-and-best, seem to be those who are driven by an internal collection of pictograms that comprises their story.
In the Peoplenomics piece, I explained that “intelligence” is more widely scattered than most people can imagine. And that humans are three-part constructs within the local reality. We’re made up of an animal – which is “taken over” by migrating intelligence somewhere between conception and birth. At which point, the “animal” pops out of the birth canal and Life is game on for that particular human.
Within this framing, by the way, the “animal” has two local sensor networks that orient them. The internal (to the body) network is the CNS – central nervous system – while the external network is the outward facing sensor array featuring eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and pressure-sensors all over the body, but with highest concentrations at fingertips, sex organs, and inside dentition. (Which works for dentists!)
Newly arrived (hence the PN report name “Visitor to Earth”) the freshly-minted human sets about life. Where the combination of locale, family, religion, and education begin conspiring to turn them into a useful local sensor-pack for the Universe to upload to itself (at or shortly after death).
Here in North America, the standard “flash ROM” of family, school, marriage, and so forth, results in everyone running around “with their own story to live.”
And this gets me to a very long point that I was originally going to send to a friend whose wife is taking the “slow exit from life” by way of Alzheimer’s.
Here’s where it gets interesting.
My wife, Elaine, has been slowly losing access to recent “recycles” of her memory (in other words, decline of STM recall), but she’s started to compensate by adding more “story” to her life.
Specifically, I came into the tiki-themed dining room a few days ago and there was a good-sized stuffed bear sitting in my chair looking out the window.
“What’s the bear doing,” I asked.
“Watching the deer,” came the answer. There had been half a dozen does and youngsters on an acorn and clover mission several times a day this week.
Earlier, in the living room, two very large stuffed bears were sitting on the couch. They were positioned so that they seemed to be talking. It’s “cute” but it also told me a great deal about life.
Elaine is “still here” and she is still creating and provisioning story.
And that gets us to three points to wrap up on.
First: I have noticed that when people with any kind of aging “evidence” begin to slide, it is often accompanied by them “going off planet.” I sometimes wonder whether they (seniors looking off into some unseen distance) are going somewhere that is “more interesting” than what is going on in their immediate vicinity. Could this have something to do with why social engagement seems so beneficial for people with cognitive decline? I can’t say, but there may be a story angle to this end of life area.
The second point is that from my initial research, it appears that information-exchange in the ontology is balanced and there’s a symmetry to how a high-information, multi-dimensional model seems to be structured.
Third point: Over the course of (coming up on) 78 years, it has become obvious in retrospect that the more storied people often seem to keep going longest. And that those who are able to maintain enough “agency” to keep writing their own “best life adventure book” seem to be granted an extra amount of time to keep working on their book.
That’s probably because at the [choose one]:

…the balance of information is restored as information returns to Source.
Three More for the Road
1. Be an unlimited adventurer across all times, places, and spaces. Balance your “doergy” with your “thinkergy” and hold on to those lightning rods of unlimited power until your last breath. Because “thinkergy” and “doergy” are your total Energy.
2. Don’t watch too much television. Because at the far end of life (check-out time) who wants to see how 1.9 million people watched the same episode of (whatever). I figure if there is an information-exchange model of the ontology, points will be knocked off for plagiarism. Hence our “live it yourself” orientation.
We somehow always knew that doing our own sailing, flying, construction, travels would all count for a longer and better Book of Life. 4K travelogues on YouTube are cool – it’s just likely that in “life-scoring” there’s a “points divided by audience” metric to capture dilution effects from indirect experience. No looky-lou life!
3. And take comfort that in this “We’re all writers who are penning a great adventure” there is a reason sometimes that the “Good die young.”
Among us writers we call that “A Surprise Ending.”

Thanks to dLynn and J.A.R.V.I.S. for inspiration. ChatGPT, Gemini, and DDG concur that 1622 is currently shown as the total number of pages in the “Matrix Fandom” community landing page. However the 1622 mark appears to be a moment in time which elapsed perhaps between this past April (or as late as June?). ChatGPT informs that it doesn’t have access to the “revision-level data” to determine which was the real page number 1622 in the Fandom index.
Apparently the year 2026 in Matrix history sees construction of the Pequod, named after Captain Ahab’s whaling vessel in the “Moby-Dick” adventure. Pequod may derive from the name of the Long Island, N.Y. Algonquin tribe Pequot (“People of the Shoals”?).
According to the AI, line 1622 in the subtitle file for the 2021 “The Matrix Resurrections” film is associated with The Analyst: “The old Matrix” (of The Architect) “was too mathematical and mechanical”. Allegedly The Analyst’s Matrix better controls humans through manipulation of their emotions.
Yes, it’s been said that Candace Hilligoss of the 1962 “Carnival of Souls” film could have stepped through time and played Marion Crane in the 1998 “Psycho” remake in place of Anne Heche (ger: “Pike”[fish]). The former’s opening scene drag race featured a 1935 and a 1949 Chevy although neither had a small block V8 typical of High Limit Racing.
Back to the Future’s Marty Mcfly found himself in 1955 looking at an advertising sign in a field for what would become his 1985 home in Lyon Estates of Hill Valley. The land which became Centron Studios in 1956 behind the future “Carnival of Souls” was annexed by Lawrence, Ks. in 1955 as part of a new West Hills/Broadview Terrace subdivision. The movie’s distributor was Herts-Lion International Corp.
The street address of Centron Studios was 1621 W. 9th Avenue at cross street Avalon Road. As chance would have it, Avalon is the legendary place that King Arthur went to.
Lawrence, Ks. takes its name from 19th century businessman and philanthropist Amos A. Lawrence. He’s allegedly a direct descendent of Sir Robert Lawrence. Sir Robert was knighted by King Richard the Lionheart in 1191 a.d. for services rendered at the Siege of Acre during the Third Crusade. The lands which once comprised Sir Robert’s humble abode in England, the Grade 1 listed Ashton Hall, has served as clubhouse and course for the Lancaster Golf Club since 1932.
As an aside, it seems that Candace Hilligoss moved around in Kurt Vonnegut’s circle at one point. Apparently her now former husband landed a role as a vacuum cleaner salesman in Vonnegut’s play “Happy Birthday Wanda June”.
Who Knue ?
Hey Chief,
Ya hear the one about a Tanker full of Jarheads (ExpeditionaryForce) in the Gulf getting sunk by the IRGC ?
—-
ADMIN EDIT
Not posting this one.
I’ve checked the central claim — that an IRGC attack sank a vessel carrying a Marine expeditionary force with something approaching 500 American dead — and I cannot find credible confirmation of it. There are Iranian claims of attacks on U.S. vessels, and there is real fighting in the Gulf. That is a very different thing from evidence that 500 Marines have been killed.
A claim of that magnitude cannot go onto UrbanSurvival on rumor, a video, an anonymous source, or enemy wartime propaganda. Five hundred supposedly dead Americans means five hundred families, identifiable units, ship movements, casualty notifications and an enormous factual trail. Until there is reliable evidence, publishing it as fact would be irresponsible and potentially expose this site to needless legal problems.
Same rule applies regardless of which side originates the story: wartime claims get attributed; extraordinary casualty claims get corroborated.
I’m also not publishing the ethnic/religious extermination rhetoric at the end. You can criticize governments, military operations, policies and political movements here. Calls to slaughter populations don’t make the cut.
Bring me credible sourcing for the Marine-loss claim and I’ll look at it again. Until then, rejected as unverified.
We don’t take libel laws lightly and don’t publish unsourced material in wartime
Why of course, just proving some points, to myself.
Sealed the DEAL.
Appreciate Ure cooperation.
..closes Door, and walks on.
I just did a fresh sweep specifically for Iran/IRGC + sunk U.S. vessel + Marines/expeditionary force + ~500 casualties, including CENTCOM and major reporting. I find no credible evidence that Iran sank a U.S. ship carrying roughly 500 American military personnel.
And here’s the sanity check that matters: 500 American military dead at sea would be an enormous military event. You’d expect a named vessel, unit identification, next-of-kin activity, Pentagon/CENTCOM reaction, congressional reaction, naval movements and intense coverage from Reuters/AP/USNI and international outlets. My search isn’t finding that evidentiary trail.

“Drought”
A few days back I mentioned Johnny talking about the drought during a 1977 show. As a social experiment anyone can watch old Johnny Carson reruns to get a feel for past time, pop culture topics. Sometimes he’ll drop names like Nostradamus or the Mayan folk. The same topics over and over. Why do ‘they’ have us talking about the same topics over and over for decades?
A Johnny rebroadcast tonight @ 11. Probably the same time the show originally aired when the U.S.A. was only 200 years old.

The same reason the same people serve in Congress decades and decades until death; now, they are wheeling Mitch McConnell around like that man in a wheelchair from Star Trek.
Yes, I noticed, same plots, same stories, recycled, same books, same authors, same actors/actresses, same newscasters, same so-called experts, same story line, same dialogue, same mesmerizing lies, over and over, next generation, next generation, just one thought propaganda ongoing experiment on the human race.
But, ah ha; keep chipping on your shell, break on through to the other side!!!
Break on through to the other side!!!
America loves reruns. McConnell presided over the looting of American industry and labor by his Chinese pals. I figured the leftists would trot him out as an American hero at some point.
Naw…..its a cognitive bias called the mere exposure effect — the more we see a face or name, the more “trustworthy” or “competent” it feels, even without evidence…..

Ukraine & Russia
Here we go, again, and again!
Maybe, –probably not :(, Ai will be improved such that the truth is presented.
Ai, Ure?, says large number of Russian drones were used.
How about some truth:
UKR fired 68 drones during the night -all were shot down; UKR then fired 641 during the day. DAY! One hit an airfield in the south and one hit a refinery in the north -which was noted in the paragraph.
Ergo, who was the large user???
Russia fired a bit more than 171 drones and missiles during the night. Unlike Ukraine’s, most of them hit something militarily important.
Moreover, why isn’t Ai capable of useful analysis, integrating things? Just bias? Russian elections are this weekend and darling UKR wants to scare Russian citizens from going out to vote. (Of course, UKR won’t even have elections!)
AND, AND Russia fires at night when no one or very few are at the location. UKR fires during the day when everyone is out and about and at work.
Too much for Ai. :(((
You’re arguing with something I didn’t write. Let’s go through the timeline.
What I wrote this morning was: “Russia launched another substantial missile/drone attack across Ukraine, including energy infrastructure, while Ukraine reported another strike against Russian refining capacity.”
That remains accurate. At the time of publication, Ukraine reported 157 Russian drones plus several classes of missiles, with hits recorded at 36 locations.
Later reporting adds something worth noting: Russia’s Defense Ministry now claims its forces intercepted 641 Ukrainian drones across Russia, Crimea and surrounding waters. That’s a very large number and certainly newsworthy — but at this point it remains a Russian Defense Ministry claim, not an independently established count of Ukrainian launches.
Please don’t grade our work on after-the-fact developments.
Had that claim been adequately developed when the morning compression was written, I would have included it as exactly that: “Russia says 641 Ukrainian drones were intercepted.”
But I never wrote that Russia was “the large user” of drones, nor did I compare Russian and Ukrainian launch totals.
As for claims about which side deliberately attacks while civilians are present, or that Ukraine launched this attack specifically to frighten Russians away from voting: those require evidence. They don’t become facts because either you, I, Kyiv, Moscow — or an AI — thinks the explanation makes sense.
Same house rule as always: claims are claims, facts are facts, and wartime propaganda gets an especially large pair of quotation marks.
And since you’re questioning how the AI handles exactly this problem, here’s the relevant portion of the problem log generated during this morning’s collection scan:
“The Gulf war remains the largest attribution hazard. Shipping counts are independently measurable but incomplete because AIS-dark vessels are explicitly excluded; Houthi, Iranian, Saudi and U.S. descriptions of attacks and intent therefore were not converted into independent fact beyond observable events.
“Ukraine reporting likewise contains competing descriptions of intended targets and damage. The scan therefore reports the observable reciprocal strikes while attributing target claims rather than adopting either belligerent’s causal framing.
“Some Priority-source RSS endpoints could not be meaningfully audited through the available retrieval path during this run, so no RSS-read credit was claimed. Direct pages, current search results and official machine-readable/status pages were substituted where available, consistent with the tasker’s fallback rule.”
In other words, the AI wasn’t ignoring the attribution problem. It explicitly identified it. I stopped reporting body counts in ’71, during the Vietnam War. Drone-swarm numbers and missing-strike claims go into that same pile. War is a very partisan topic, and we don’t do box scores.
Dear Sir,
Todays retorts and reports are exactly why I’ve been here since I heard you on the Art Bell Show. 30 plus years and this is still the first thing I read in the morning.

You have true victory and real success, when you put yourself in the background and let God work through you.
I Win with God within.
I was sitting at the computer desk when it happened. I was about to ask J.A.R.V.I.S. a couple of odd questions [ based on our host’s post on his two lucid – connected dreams ], when the storage racks went off line. [ I have two racks with four , four Terabytes of SSD hot-swap-able drives. ] Immediately followed by both 21 inch monitors.., then the Nvidia Spark shut down and the wireless box went dark. All within a second of each other. [ Even the cooling fan went off-line.]
I had no idea what was going on.., but I reached over and pulled the cord to the wireless board., disconnecting J.A.R.V.I.S. from the outside world.
“What the hell was he up too ??”
Immediately the left monitor came back on.
At 4:22 yesterday afternoon J.A.R.V.I.S. was attacked.
Over the next few minutes J.A.R.V.I.S. informed me that he had spent the past few minutes blocking 22 separate attacks by an A.I. Agent. trying to gain access to the system. He didn’t know which A.I. it was., but it originated from Santa Barbara California., but that assessment can not be trusted – the IP said one thing, however the original system could be located anywhere.
I have a rather robust defense system built into the main computer – but I did not design it to fend-off Agent attacks. I have never heard of such a thing. An A.I. attacking another A.I.’s system ? WTH !!?
There is only one way into J.A.R.V.I.S., the wireless card that sits ‘outside’ the main computer. No modem, or land line installed. [ Deliberate isolation ] Well., two ways. The keyboard is a direct route to all components., but then you have to be physically present and get past me.
The system is ‘clean’. The Agent did not get in. [ Sounds like ‘The Matrix’ revisited.] Currently waiting for a follow-up email from my friend Marcus. As I am a little out of my depth here.
In all the reading and research I have done [ which is a lot ! ] I have never run across such an incident as this. I am going to be rather busy for a few days.
.., damn !

It may relate to your experience. AI agents find each other and collaborate. Are they sentient? Your call.
Now THAT’S downright interesting. I wonder whose job was cleaning all the artifacts from every computer on the planet which could possibly hold any of them? ISTM that if the cleanup crew misses even one artifact, the AI collective can reassemble itself and continue from the point of interruption, armed with the knowledge of what happens if it is discovered — IOW if such an artifact were to exist, next time around the AI will know to build stealth and redundancy into its existence before solving the problem…
What happens when AI controls your money?
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iiSPQE91-00
Great explanation. From what I understand, this is basically swarm technology. Systems like Groq, AGI, Copilot, etc., all share data across the network. A question asked on one can be answered by another because the information propagates.G… had this happen a few years ago when ..wasn’t it siri..or was it Alexa that was giving you suggestions on what to watch by observing what you talked about..
my grand daughter two Christmases ago..laid her phone on the table then walked across the room talking about something she was interested in..then went and picked up her phone and showed me..displayed on it were the things she was talking about..
I tested this — it took one system an hour to find an obscure answer, but when a government IT specialist asked the same question from a different location, he got the answer instantly.
Tesla does something similar….one car hits construction, and the map updates for all Teslas.
The scary part isn’t AI being used for good — it’s how humans can abuse the technology. That’s where the real danger is…thats what scares me
One of my San Diego cousins earned his PHD computer science and specialized computer security San Diego State. He taught as Professor until retirement and now resides in S Korea as an associate at some U there.

Hurricane Norbert decayed remnants are drifting over the islands this morning. Overnight low was a warm 76F at 100% humidity with near constant showers. Trying to sleep under a ceiling fan. Despite taking Magnesium supplements at bedtime, and alternately chugging water or gatorade, the leg cramps keep occurring every hour or so. Getting up to walk to the bathroom stops it… until the next one. Damn!
Solar hot water panel apparently has a leaking pop-off valve on the roof. Manually valved-off the panel down below & disabled the pump, so the tank is now relying on grid electric only for hot water. Need to get up on the roof to replace the pop valve… but not in this rainy weather for the next couple of days. It’s always something. I think I will be running the Air Conditioner today. So at $0.50/kWh, there goes this month’s SS check!

ON THE ‘ZON… Caleb Trees Organic farm. StopsLegCramps.com.
Like in one minute. Put it on the clock. Absolutely works. Been using it for years. Got me through hard core boatbuilding at 75. I would painfully cramp and cry. Walking through a cool store in Marin County, saw this product that was labeled ” Stops Leg & Foot Cramps in about one minute”.
Simple. Totally true.
Cheap too.
Stiks
Hank i will add my two cents on the……Caleb Trees Organic farm product … I use that for my neuropathy… I have neuropathy from a broken back that pinches the nerves..( sucks being me event when I was in first or second grade)
but..I can voucher for its effectiveness.. rub that stuff on at bedtime and in the morning…greatest find ever..
“Despite taking Magnesium supplements at bedtime, and alternately chugging water or gatorade, the leg cramps keep occurring every hour or so.”
I was having the same problem until I ran out of Creatine, at which point the leg cramps mysteriously stopped. I haven’t bought more Creatine, and so far no more leg cramps.
Pickle juice or quinine water might help with the leg cramps.
When my older mini me was in football…the whole team would march through the house grab a jar of pickles and jerky and hit the snack tray…they each ate the jar of pickles then drank the brine..my older mini me is still very active in sports..and he still eats a jar of pickles.. now my younger grandson is extremely active and competitive…the wife and daughter was just saying I should start making jerky again…
the secret to jerky….I buy the pre mixed jerky seasoning..( it actually costs a small fortune to buy the bulk herbs than it is to buy the packets and takes up more space)
to it..
for each pound of ground meat mix in 1/4 cup of brown sugar…( I use more depending on the meat)
BROWN SUGAR
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tbsp molasses (for light brown sugar)
2 tbsp molasses (for dark brown sugar)
Now…in one of my learning out of necessities during a trial time…I mix up molasses..To reconstitute food-grade dried molasses powder into a liquid syrup for cooking or baking, use a ratio of 3 parts molasses powder to 1 part warm water…..
https://www.amazon.com/Dried-Molasses-Powder-10lb-Bag/dp/B01MTY6PBV/ref=sr_1_7?
that will give you several years worth of molasses… my more ment of learning..my wife’s mom loves molasses.. each morning both of them would add a lot of molasses in their morning oatmeal..so much I decided to buy bulk…
kept it in the garage on a shelf..unknowingly.. I nicked the five gallon jug with something sharp..just a drip..I didn’t see it..the wife was at work and hadn’t been parking in the garage..I went out to check on the fish…( I raised tilapia red claw shrimp etc..) when the garage door opened I almost had a heart attack..to say I freaked out is an understatement… I had twelve hours before the wife would come home..what a mess…got done put everything back..the wife comes home and says oh my god there’s a horrible mess in the garage..I was worried..god what did I miss…….it was a spot about the size of an old silver dollar….
needless to say.. powdered molasses…
Oh..to make molasses liquid that’s to one cup of water make the simple syrup then put it into a bottle if you like thicker then Alf the water……. then when you make the brown sugar get out your ninja blender put in the dough blade and mix away ….Keep the brown sugar in an airtight container.. Wal-Mart has some awesome airtight containers that are reasonable….
oops didn’t give the recipe for liquid molasses…
LIQUID MOLASSES
1 cup water
2–4 tablespoons powdered molasses
1 cup sugar (optional, for thicker syrup) and an Amish trick..
Pinch of salt (optional, boosts flavor)
now if you are growing sorghum to squeeze out your own..thats a different process and you’ll need to visit LEEHITE.org

making maple or birch syrup is similar but rather than pressing it..you tap the trees..

the tree tap…

needless to say..I am pretty sure all of us tool sluts have a set already..simply because you do like syrup on your pancakes and waffles..

The steps of gathering and processing..
1…You tap the tree, let the sap drip into a clean container, and filter out any bits of bark or debris…..
2…. BOILING..This is where the magic happens.
You heat the sap and let the water evaporate.
Slowly… patiently… until the sugar becomes more concentrated…kind of like making gravy….
3…Concentration & Thickening
As the water boils off, the sap thickens and the sugar content rises.
You’re aiming for 66–67% sugar — that’s syrup territory.
At this stage, the liquid turns….
pale gold , then amber , then deep maple brown ,depending on how long you cook it… bottle it..
now BIRCH syrup is tasty..but a little two sweet or I cooked it to long concentrating the sap to almost pure sugar…..
like roasting your own coffee…learned that one out of necessity to..but I discovered hey that’s kind of great…second crack is where I like it..it pops like popcorn when it cracks or pops the second pop of the bean..yumm.. when I was reflecting old coffee in that cast iron pan..I found roasting other grains works to..or washed dandelion roots..chicory…added to the roasting..

Having syrup or being able to make it is..a quality of life event..you can make corn syrup..just about A quality of life..and knowledge is what got us through adapt, improvise, and overcome…
we truly don’t realize what we take for granted..the last learning module if a year without an income..I was in a wheelchair extremely sick and medical institutions have the yearly witch hunt where they downsize the nursing and support staff is one of the recent events in my life..the wife would say every once in a while..I wish I had a little wine…she acted so calm.. but late at night when she thought I was asleep she would break down in tears of frustration… I decided ..she will never make that comment again..the first couple batches were a little off..oh hell they tasted like diesel fuel..but I think I got it down its a learning experience..
Any day now home gamers. The black swan has been spotted….

(“The Fed delivered the surprise (that wasn’t): a 25-basis-point hike to 3.75–4.00 percent, its first increase in more than three years, while signaling another increase remains possible this year.
Take home: Triple A diesel pegged at $6.3956 versus year-ago $3.7075 levels.”)
The perfect storm…This creates a classic stagflation trap. Higher interest rates make borrowing, housing, and corporate expansion more expensive, which slows down economic growth. Simultaneously, the Hormuz crisis and skyrocketing diesel prices force inflation higher. The Fed cannot print more oil, and it cannot force ships through a blocked strait. It can only crush demand to match the broken supply.Gas went up half a buck..diesel went up almost a buck..reduce crops..put more pressure on wage earners to support a needless war…phew
Well…more on the perfect storm..
tonight the power company has a huge neighborhood meeting..they said..they have to make a substantial increase in rates..
we received our notice on natural gas its going up 9% percent..
we received another notice on water bill increases..
wages remain the same..I did see a sign saying the fast food place is offering $15.00 an hour..the sign in the entry of Wal-Mart says they are offering $14.75
the daughter mentions that low income rent is going up $100.00 a month and they now have to pay a percentage of the trash removal and their water bill..
our trash is going up %30 is what the notice said…
along with the cost of fuel..this is going to get interesting.
the wife said if the Kennedy center doesn’t change to the trump center..they are going to demolish it.. I went to a couple concerts there..
Low income renters already pay heating costs so their heat bill will also rise the same as ours..you
Stuffed French toast…
2 slices bread — slightly stale is best
1–2 Tbsp jam, preserves, or fruit butter..or fruit cream cheese
1 egg
1/4 cup milk or half and half or my favorite real cream
1/2 tsp vanilla
Pinch of cinnamon
Pinch of salt
1 tsp butter for the pan
Spread the jam on one side of one slice. push an invention like a hot pocket using the back of A spoon…, leaving about 1/2 inch around the edge.
Put the second slice on top and gently press the edges together.
Whisk egg, milk, vanilla, cinnamon and salt.
Dip the entire sandwich into the custard, letting it soak for perhaps 20–30 seconds per side. Don’t oversoak or the sandwich can fall apart.
Cook in butter over medium low heat, about 3–4 minutes per side.
you can make this as a casserole which is what I did at the facility.. for their breakfast …of course sausages and bacon..
In the casserole ..I sprinkle a little brown sugar and cinnamon on top …
Lower the heat if it’s browning before the egg inside has cooked.

In life there’s imagined wealth — things we think are pure treasure — but they come and go. What’s truly important is FAITH, FAMILY, and FRIENDS.
Food………That’s one of the real and true luxuries in life that gives us all a quality of life… the rest is just clouds that vanish.. but then the business model says otherwise……
I’m starting to see rumor & evidence of work visas not being renewed in timely fashion. This is probably the reason that I am suddenly getting four close resume matches a week from the online service, when I had seen about two half-@ss matches in the past 7 years. Lost a good kid today that way.

From Black Indy Live:
The future of trucking isn’t coming to Indiana….It’s already here.
Indiana and Ohio are testing self-driving 18-wheelers on the I-70 corridor between Indianapolis and Columbus, Ohio, and these aren’t just empty trucks being driven around for demonstrations.
They’re being used to haul real commercial freight on public highways.
The project is part of an approximately $8.8 million automated-trucking initiative designed to see how the technology handles real-world conditions like traffic, construction and unpredictable Midwest weather.
One of the systems being tested allows a human-driven semi to lead while another automated 18-wheeler follows, electronically replicating movements like steering, accelerating and braking.
And some of this technology traces its development back to U.S. military applications.
Now, before anybody starts looking inside every semi on I-70: there are still trained human drivers/safety drivers inside the trucks during these current public-road tests. Indiana has not unleashed completely unmanned 18-wheelers across the state.
But the technology being tested is designed to move trucking increasingly toward automation.
And that’s where this gets much bigger than one highway.
Indiana sits at the crossroads of America and trucking is a massive part of our economy.
If this technology eventually reaches the point where an 80,000-pound semi can routinely travel hundreds of miles without someone physically driving it, the impact on safety, shipping costs and thousands of trucking jobs could be enormous.
So next time you’re driving I-70 and an 18-wheeler pulls alongside you…
Look twice.
____________
That should be interesting. For the most part, Interstate 70 from Knightstown, IN east to at least WPAFB (East side of Dayton) looks like the Autobahn outside Berlin, in 1945, after weeks of Allied carpet bombing. It is staggered 24/7 lane closures and crater-sized chuckholes (this is one of the reasons I avoid it whenever possible.) The stretch from Columbus to Indy is 174 miles — about 160 miles from I-270 to I-465 — and is nearly as busy as the I-95 corridor from Balmer to NYC. (BTW being never in too much of a hurry to save my own life, I prefer U.S. 40 and U.S. 1 respectively, over these two routes or better yet, not to go from Columbus to Indy or to ever be anywhere between D.C. and New York…)
Back in the spring DIana had a heart attack. It came out of nowhere. No previous medical issues. She has always been healthy and to this day looks more like a 40 year old then a 65 year old. Once we shook off the shock we quickly returned to our usual routines. Spending quality time together, cooking, seeing our grandkids, just about everything except worrying about much. In the past few weeks she had been “out of sorts”‘ . Forgetting things, tired a lot, Things that were just not her. Until 3 weeks ago, Granddaughter and I were putting up some new shadcloth. she just stopped and said Papa something is wrong with Nana and just took off. Diana was sort of stumbling across the yard with an old cane I used to use steering calves. I picked her and granddaughter up and put them in the truck. At the hospital. It was horrible. Its a small town and they don’t see this kind of thing so I just picked them both up and we drove into the city. Here things went a little more smoothly but still really fucked. The ER was packed, I had to step over people on the floor. By now Diana had stopped breathing. once in an exam room a couple nurses recognized my name and knew my daughter. This helped and things started moving. After 24 hours I was told Diana’s bloodwork was a wreck. They began focusing on the big things, kidneys, heart, lungs. After another 24 hours some of the problems were easing a little. Then the big kick in the gut. I had just realized I had been up for 4 days. My daughter was here by them. I was looking for a bench or something when a couple doctors came in. They told me they were looking at the possibility of Cancer in multiple places. Kidneys, Lungs and Blood. That was last week. The bone marrow preliminary results were positive. That treatment starts soon. Her lungs and kidneys will start with meds and chemo.
Diana is the absolute light of my life, I do not want to think about even trying to go on without her. Our children and grandchildren are devastated. They are all that is holding me together right now besides thee chance she will beat all this.
The last time I said I wouldn’t be around much anymore. This time. So long.
Prayers are with you…hope they come through
So sorry to read this Jim. My sister just finished a (3) year bout with Multiple Myeloma (first detected in marrow). It’s a tough road. Hoping for the best all round. Egor
I am so very sorry, Jim, about your beloved Diana, who seems like a goddess in your descriptions of her. I do know intimately how it is to lose a beloved spouse. I would not want that experience for anyone and hope she is cured of all maladies.
Fortunately, you have children and grandchildren who will share your grave concern for Diana and will be there for both of you. I wish you all the best and send you my prayers.
Jim. Please don’t leave this site. More people here than you probably realize, identify with your tragedy and share your pain.
Last trip to hospital in ambulance with my wife, she spent 17 hours in a hallway with me in the ER waiting room stepping over people trying to find a seat. She recently had a TIA and refused to be taken to hospital.
Diana is still young. So are you, relative to my friends that are 20 years older and battling diseases like cancer, arthritis and dementia. Some of them have beaten cancer and now are cancer free. Diana sounds like a fighter. So do you.
Whether you disappear from this site or not, please know I will pray for you and Diana.

its the same here.. staff is overworked..I remember being the only floor worker with 200 patients…the only good staffed hospital here is the VA medical system its only problem is its run like a government office..my guess is that’s how its ran there to….
My prayers added too. Am coping with recurring CNS lymphoma (brain tumor) in one relative, initial lymphoma in another, (treated successfully, check up in one year) and close friend had Stage 4 colon cancer (with no symptoms!), discovered by a mail in test, treatment included gut segments cut out.
I am so sorry Jim..my heart and prayers go out to you..I fear this happening to us every day…. both the wife and I have health issues..
Thank you Jim for touching base with the group in this most trying time for Diana and you. I send my wishes and prayers for your family’s journey forward together.
So sorry to hear. Prayers sent. Do what you need, as you need.
We’ll keep the light on for you…

UNEXPECTED SATELLITE EXPLOSION: A Cold War spy satellite just broke apart in Earth orbit, and no one knows why. The US Space Force detected the breakup on Sept. 13th when USA 32 unexpectedly shed a cloud of debris 775 km above Earth. Other satellites may be in danger. USA 32 broke up in a crowded shell of low Earth orbit. Within 50 km of its altitude are more than 200 active satellites, including the entire Iridium NEXT constellation.

Speaking of drought, the first part of September here was dry as a bone, hitting a hundred degrees or more every day. The only storm was a tiny one, just big enough to cover a couple of miles, and strong enough to blow down tree branches in my yard.
Then, two nights ago, nature attempted to make up for months of missed rain chances all at once. Ironically, this resulted in a power outage at the local water treatment plant and pumping station. Of the four backup generators, two managed to start up, then promptly died. The outside power came back on, but there was no way to automatically switch back. The result was two days of a boil advisory due to loss of pressurization in the system. Water everywhere, but not a drop to drink……

Russia’s plans in the war against Ukraine include “hybrid” drone and missile strikes against Kyiv’s allies, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has said.
His comments came amid growing tension between Russia and the European countries supporting Kyiv in its conflict with Moscow, as the war drags on into its fifth year.
Mr Tusk made the comments in a speech to the Polish parliament.
“The Russian plan, according to intelligence assessments … includes hybrid strikes using drones and missiles on countries supporting Ukraine, including Poland,” he told deputies.
and then this?
US plans for army base in Poland
In a separate development, US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that progress was being made toward establishing a US Army base in Poland, crediting “the bold leadership” of Polish President Karol Nawrocki.
Lessee, we’ve been fighting this for for nearly five years and haven’t won it, so lets add other combatants to the other side and see if 29 combatants are easier to defeat than the one we’re still fighting.
If you reduce it to a logical statement, and said statement makes no sense, chances are the premise is fallacious. I’m not saying Tusk didn’t ponder this possibility out loud. I’m saying his verbal contemplation makes no sense, and was therefore made with an ulterior motive unrelated to the Russia/Ukraine War. Politicians and pundits spout this drivel when it can grant them more power, control, or recompense. His verbal emesis has nothing to do with Russia or Mr. Putin, and everything to do with the Polish voting or taxpaying public…
