Stiks Under Sail

From our reader Stiks down near new Caledonia, this just in:

“Just when the Garmin decides to find its brain the wind comes back sweet and from exactly the wind bearing you want to go. Pick a side, hopeful of a favorable angle on the other tack when the predicted wind shift happens. The reward for your correct decision is being awakened at 0300 to do that maneuver, adjust the sail trim and the self steering, then back in the rack for a last hour before your watch. The way it looks now we will be on this tack until the destination. It’s pretty comfortable considering how fast we are moving, averaging six knots upwind in 14T,

Beats the hell out of sitting on the couch.”

I know…who would do such a thing when they could sit in meetings and post useless social all day instead of doing actual adventure.

More as is comes in…
