Out of Our Hands?

For a people once victims of genocide themselves, Israel is disappointing. So are the decisions lately of “Fearless Leader” with regard to the Middle East.

The simple version of the story: Israel plans to retake Gaza City, escalating the war with Hamas | AP News

No, I do not support Palestinians and their struggle. Near as I can figure it they are an angry lot. But, like the old saying goes, “This is war.”

Is it? Or something deeper, darker, and more revelatory? Check it out:

On October 7, 2023, Hamas-led militants breached Israel’s border in a massive, multi-front attack. Reports estimate around 6,000 Gazans entered Israeli territory—about 3,800 of them from Hamas’s elite Nukhba forces, the rest civilians or other fighters caught in the chaos.

Israel’s immediate response was shock and fury. The government declared a state of war and launched “Operation Swords of Iron” to crush Hamas’s military capacity and secure the Gaza frontier.

Before the war, crossings like Erez and Rafah were tightly controlled. Tens of thousands once crossed each month for work or medical needs, but after Hamas took power in 2007, those numbers collapsed—border restrictions became the norm.

Inside Gaza, conditions were already dire. Since the war began, aid entering through Rafah dropped to a fraction of pre-October-7 levels—reports indicate it was about 5% of what it used to be.

By mid-2025, the Palestinian death toll in Gaza had risen well above 60,000. Gaza’s Health Ministry reported over 60,000 killed, including a significant number of women and children.

The fighting displaced over 90% of Gaza’s population. Israeli military orders designated approximately 70% of Gaza as no-go zones, and by mid-2025 the IDF controlled roughly three-quarters of the territory.

On August 8, 2025, Israel’s security cabinet approved a plan to retake and occupy Gaza City, aiming to disarm Hamas, impose Israeli security control, and eventually transfer governance to friendly Arab authorities. The plan could displace up to a million more Palestinians.

Critics warn the plan risks the safety of the remaining hostages—around 59 are still believed held—and could deepen the humanitarian catastrophe. Some senior military officials caution the occupation could exact a steep cost—militarily, politically, and morally.

Netanyahu frames this as essential for Israel’s survival: a final blow to Hamas. Detractors see it as moral overreach—an act that may only entrench cycles of violence and imperil Israel’s long-term security.

Neighboring Arab states have largely declined to intervene. Egypt refuses to open its border—fearful of regional destabilization—and Jordan has declined entry, citing security concerns.

In the end, the question persists: Is Israel’s escalating response truly in its own hands—or has it been driven by fear, vengeance, and political survival? For a people whose history is defined by survival, this moment is testing not only strategy—but soul.

That could all end this weekend. (Maybe there was a reason I slept in today—two hours past my usual 4 AM work call.)

You see, I have studied human nature a lot over my news-chasing days. Admired religions and movements that strive for peace and, when allowable, calling out human shortcomings as well. As part of that, in the Bahá’í faith, there was a talk by Abdu’l-Bahá, given in Paris on October 21, 1911, in a talk titled “The Pitiful Causes of War, and the Duty of Everyone to Strive for Peace.”

“The news of the Battle (it was for Benghazi at the time) grieves my heart. I wonder at the human savagery that still exists in the world! How is it possible for men to fight from morning until evening, killing each other, shedding the blood of their fellow-men: And for what object? To gain possession of a part of the earth! Even the animals, when they fight, have an immediate and more reasonable cause for their attacks! How terrible it is that men, who are of the higher kingdom, can descend to slaying and bringing misery to their fellow-beings, for the possession of a tract of land!”

This weekend, the world will go HODL—”hold on, don’t look”—over what comes now. But blindness isn’t innocence. And there’s been enough blood from all of this to go around. It’s on the hands of all of us.

If you perchance to wonder, “Why haven’t we been visited by advanced civilizations? Where are the Brothers of the Sky?”

Open your eyes and think about it.  Yeah – it’s war.  It’s global failure and we all own it. But the market will rally, the narratives will continue.  Nothing changes.  The cycles repeat.

Maybe I shouldn’t have gotten up today.

We’ve been quietly muttering for a long time that America’s Founders screwed up by not lumping corporations into the doctrine of Separation of Powers – as in Church and State.  As we figure it, corporations bloodlust for money is a kind of perverse religion in its own right.  Mentioned today as context for Apple CEO Tim Cook mocked after giving ‘embarrassing’ gift to Trump.

Around the Ranch: End of the Heat Coming…

Heat in the breadbasket is only 3-4 weeks from breaking.  So we’re using the occasion to line up the project ducks.  Cool mornings begin in just three weeks (on average) and will drop 1 degree per week for a while…which we’re looking forward to.

Rainfall has been really well spread this year leaving the front yard of Uretopia looking more golf course-like than usual.  At the cost of more fuel and seat-time.

Nice as it looks, it’s still shaggy (no, not Scooby) from our view.  But over a certain age, it’s easier to fuel a lawn rider than feed some sheep to keep it cropped down.

Why So Sleepy?

May have had something to do with a long conversation with G.A. Stewart of the Age of Desolation site.  Who is back in the saddle running a flight sim center for the Air Force.  Knowing that pilots are able to earn their “beans” *(recurrent training cycles) takes one tiny fear off the table.  Also reminded me – as some very deep level – that you can’t change everything in life. I can’t, Stu can’t – all the well-intended people we follow can’t, either.

Kinda like projects in the shop, in ham radio, in books-to-write, or even in kitchen cookery: You may not be able to Do It All.

So, you do what you can and give it your best.  Beyond that?  Yeah, they couldn’t get along without Stu, the market will arb up at the open, it will be hot again, and I’m still not smart enough and the clock is still running.

Yet sometimes you have to give yourself permission not to set an alarm. Taking a moment now and then to appreciate that which we can change and that what we can’t.

Today is hereby framed as “Out of our hands” day.

ShopTalk Sunday this week will have a longish article on how to adapt declining vision (*which comes with aging) to home hobbyist/DIY work… We’ll continue our “pushing water uphill” efforts tomorrow morning in Peoplenomics.

Think of this as an “Andy Day.”  Relax, quiet, and above all listen.

  1. Oh George, perhaps there is another explanation of the plan for total control of Gaza.
The orange blob Developoer in Chief and his son in law Jared, want to rebuild a depopulated Gaza as a big beautiful seaside resort at the east end of the Mediterranian.
First have to get rid of a couple million messy inhabitants, but starvation and American arms will be up to the task.

    Blueberries? Will you mention blueberries?

With age, our eyes often lose their ability to see clearly. This may be linked to the health of the central part of the eye – called the macula – responsible for central, accurate vision and light absorption.

Over time, it loses colour pigments on which it relies, and our vision can suffer, as seen in conditions of AMD and cataracts.

Luckily, the eyes can benefit by nourishing them with the colour pigments we find in foods like carrots, blueberries and dark green vegetables. Blue Berry™ Strong contains these colour pigments from bilberry extract, as well as carotenoids from the marigold flower, lutein.

    • I prefer frozen blueberries over fresh in the grocery stores, as the are picked ripe and froze,,, while fresh are picked a little early.
but if you have a local source of fresh ripe picked, yahoo,,,
on a hot summer day plain yogurt, local honey, vanilla , a little cinnamon, mix,, to coat the frozen blueberries,,,

      • Or

        – chuck those frozen berries into your Luvelle superfood maker (L.Ruteri & L. Gasseri) when mixing up next batch of yogurt.

Fermented berries taste the same as when frozen, texture is lil different..but still Fermented.

When wese bee talking Gut Biome, nothing trumps Fermented.

        Ure tummy will thank you.

        • I’m thinking of buying that yoghurt maker although it’s harder here in Australia because we can’t readily buy sterilised milk. I’d love to know your special blend – do you mix the 2 strains together in one pot or make one pot with LR only and another with LG? Where do you buy these strains? Nothing is budging the CFS so figure it’s worth a shot.

        • Ratio for L.Ruteri to L. Gasseri is 2 to 1.

2 batches of L. Ruteri to 1 batch L. Gasseri – 4 max synergy effects (some cellular protection from ionizing radiation), not to mention the long term bennies on Ure Gut.

L.Gasseri seems lighter in texture than Ruteri, also fluffier.

After each batch is done, container goes in fridge for 8 hrs.
After 8hrs or more, I remove a 1 big fat tablespoons worth (bout 2 tablespoon) of SF, and place in small dish, cover in Saran wrap, into fridge for next batch. Different color dishes help with keeping the two separated.
Refill hole(tablespoon) in batch of SF with Vanilla extract.
*Real fermented SuperFood is slightly Sour.
Will need PREbiotic food for Ure batches – 2 tablespoons per batch, 4 Cups highly pasteurized Half&Half, and of course Ure starter..and 36 Hrs @100 degrees..DONE.

** Can do Veggies and Fruits in in yogurt maker as well. They also have the Icelandic Skyr recipe – a high protien/low fat yogurt – very fluffy.

  3. “Palestinians”

The guy from long ago had a bad global marketing campaign.

On the bright side more good jobs w/Trump federalizing DC. Although, the criminals will likely flee so maybe checkpoints should be established. ‘Gate the States’ initiatives across the fruited plain.

“An innocent man has nothing to fear, remember that.”

    • An innocent man has EVERYTHING to fear from corrupt law enforcement!!
A nephew was sorely hated by a motorcycle gang neighbor who threatened him often. Gang banger was shot dead in his yard. Wife accused nephew next door. Police arrested him, tested guns and skin for powder… none found. Nephew has been held in prison, pretrial, for five years now. Contrary video evidence shows another tattooed person in the yard area. Nephew has no tattoos. Wife of slain victim has since fled out of state. No prosecutor will take the case to trial because it is a losing case, guaranteed. But nephew signed over his house to lawyer, and finds the state can only hold him for six years max, and must pay him $50k/year for being held. But $300k will not buy back his house or pay legal bills. So an innocent man has MUCH to fear from the legal process if falsely accused.

  4. re: Amadea(“God’s Love”[for her])
    feat: Solomon’s Temple

    Folks,
It would appear that thanks are due to US taxpayers for their kind and faithful monthly upkeep of superyacht Amadea since 2022. An Arab-American “AP News” journalist wrote a report a couple of days ago picked up by “France24”. Apparently Amadea is to be auctioned via sealed bids on September 10th by the US Marshals Service.

The yacht’s owner is alleged to be sanctioned Islamic Russian oligarch Suleiman (“Solomon”) Kerimov (“Son of the Generous/Noble One”) lately of Villa Hier (“Yesterday”) situated on the French Riviera. The well-appointed estate was originally built for an English arms manufacturer. Hollywood fans perhaps would recognize the edifice and grounds from the Martin, Caine, Tomlin comedy film “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels”. Who can forget the closing movie frames as a luxury vessel disgorges wealthy marks onto estate grounds for fleecing by the trio?

Apparently Amadeo has been anchored at San Diego, a city named after the Spanish saint possibly associated with the “Mea Culpa” prayer. Capt. George may still have charts of the Coronado (“Crowned”) safe anchorage surrounds. The vessel had been seized by the Biden Administration under Operation KleptoCapture. Interestly the US AG supposedly cancelled Operation KC last February. Of perhaps further note is that the website of the Florida auctioning agent employed by USMS simply offers a “Bandwith Limit Exceeded” message to plebeian inquiry. Here is a link to the “AP” story:

  6. “War, huh, good God ya’ll, what’s it good for? Absolutely nothing.”—Edwin Starr

Yet war was, still is and will be. Many have pondered why, throughout human recorded history, war is such a common and consistent theme. The ancients wrote about it (Thucydides, ‘The Peloponnesian Wars;’ Roman historians; Shakespeare; U.S. of A. founders in the ‘Declaration of Independence;’ Prussian military historian Carl Von Clausewitz, ‘On War;’ Karl Marx ‘The Communist Manfiesto;’ Mao’s ‘Little Red Book; and oh so many more.
So why the consistent human preoccupation with war? Many reasons have been put forward, ranging from needed economic resources and/or territorial expansion, racism, religious ‘destiny’ (mostly over subtle differences), or simply a dictatorial quest for more power. Humans love to compete – sports, cards, game shows . . . it is, it seems, a fundamental element of our nature.

Plus warfare results in major technological leaps – ICBMs led to the Mercury space program; satellites gave us GPS and accurate weather forecasting; telecoms exploded. And we seem fundamentally destined by our nature towards competition, friendly or otherwise.

Changing these elemental attributes will be no easy task, taking generations to even begin making a tangible difference. Many have tried and are now trying, but enough are not yet listening and are doing what needs to be done in order to make a difference. Like a blacksmith forging a good piece of metal, if humanity beats itself over the hot coals enough, perhaps we’ll finally reach our full and peace-loving potential. That, or we’ll break apart and fall into the fire.

      Italianization of South Tyrol

      Fascist period (1922–1945)

Street sign in Innsbruck, North Tyrol, commemorating the separation of South Tyrol, set up in 1923 in response to the prohibition of the original southern Tyrolean place names.
In 1923, three years after South Tyrol had been formally annexed, Italian place names, almost entirely based on the Prontuario dei nomi locali dell’Alto Adige, were made official by means of a decree.[2] The German name “Tyrol” was banned, likewise its derivants and compound words such as “Tyrolean” and “South Tyrolean”.[2] German newspapers, publishing houses, organized clubs and associations, including the South Tyrolean Alpine Club had to be renamed, with the decree said to have been strictly enforced by Italian carabinieri on the ground.[2] The basis for these actions was a manifesto published by Ettore Tolomei on 15 July 1923, called the Provvedimenti per l’Alto Adige (‘Measures for the Alto Adige’), becoming the blueprint for the Italianization campaign.[3] Its 32 measures were:[4]

Association of Alto Adige and Trentino in a single province with the capital city of Trento
      Appointment of Italian municipal secretaries
Revision of the citizenship options and closure of the Brenner border for all persons to whom the Italian citizenship was not granted
Entry and residence difficulties for Germans and Austrians
      Prevention of German immigration
Revision of the census of 1921
Introduction of Italian as the official language
Dismissal of German officials or transfer to the old provinces (i.e., pre-war Italian provinces)
Dissolution of the “Deutscher Verband” (‘German Association’)
Dissolution of Alpine associations not under command of the Italian Alpine Club, transfer of all Alpine refuges to the Italian Alpine Club
Prohibition of the name “Südtirol” and “Deutsch-Südtirol”
Closure of the newspaper Der Tiroler published in Bozen (Bolzano)
      Italianization of German local names
      Italianization of public inscriptions
Italianization of road and path names
      Italianization of the German surname

    • War … something I have wrestled with conceptually for most of my adult life.

War is a KEY PART of the Human Condition and why we are the type of animals we are. Foget modern weapons when humans only had sticks and stones they still fought each other TO THE DEATH.

War obviously exists for a natural reason or it would have died out tens of thousands of years ago.

Let’s look first at it’s BENEFITS to humans as an animal species … and WHY unlike other animals in the animal kingdom do we use it to slaughter so many of our fellow animals?

The following is the distillation of a few of my thoughts developed over the last 50 years of thinking about the issue:

      1) One key benefit of War is that it kills off many of the most aggressive males in the immediate universe.

Those who are of the most aggressive nature GRAVITATE towards physical conflict, particularly physical conflict which inflicts death or serious injuries (that in olden days would lead to death) upon others … at the risk of the same happening to that themselves.

Going back in written history the number of males of a society killed in War activities, as a percentage of that group’s population, particularly the MALE populstion, is HUGE … and those events seemed to occur with some regularity for as far back as written history exists.

“Thinning the herd” of a large chunk of the most aggressive males seems to created a BENEFIT to humans that other animals were never able to achieve:

The LESS aggressive males, once most of the very aggressive males were killed off, could take their different skill sets and not just BREED, which was nearly impossible when competing against the most aggressive males of the grouping, but to develop other skill sets that created the entire universe of new items that are different from what nature naturally provides. (ie: carpentry, basic metals, taming of wild animals so they could be used as “power” by humans, ways to attach one item to another item (lashings /wood pegs /etc).

The human animal would NEVER have developed as it has UNLESS it was so violent that it would voluntarily KILL OFF large portions of it’s own animals on a regular basis allowing those who had to survive by their intelligence and wits to CREATE versus fight to the death.

Violence and War are a very deep character trait of the human animal .. right up there on the level with Shelter /Food /Sex for breeding etc.. I am not sure the human animal can eliminate that desire for Violence and War out of it’s DNA (note the popularity of the combat sports on TV … WWE wrestling, Cage fighting, Football, and even Basketball which is very violent at times … note THOSE are the most popular live entainment programs tht exists on TV and ALL involve VIOLENCE)

I could go on and on but I think anyone who reads this now gets the general gist of where my 50 years of thinking on this issue have taken me.

Violence and War is hardwired into our DNA … just the way humans are and always have been. If not for Violence and Wars and our human ability, NEED, to willingly kill off large numbers of our own animal group we humans would never have developed our current “advanced” society.

      • Interesting..but similar to plants and other species of animals etc. doe the genetic modifications modify and adapt unknowingly???
while it might seem like more females are born, the global birth ratio actually leans slightly male: about 105 boys for every 100 girls. This isn’t random. Male infants tend to have higher mortality rates do to wars genocides and famines, so it appears that nature seems to compensate by producing more males at birth to balance the population over time. It’s a subtle, non-conscious genetic adaptation—much like how plants or animals adjust reproductive strategies to environmental pressures.there are instances in nature where species will shift toward producing more females, often as an adaptive response to environmental pressures or population dynamics. This phenomenon is especially evident in certain invertebrates, reptiles, and fish, and it can serve to preserve equilibrium and ensure species survival. A natural unconscious adaption of the species.. interesting thought subject which brings to my simple thought process..what about China and its one child rule??.researchers have speculated that stress, environmental factors, or hormonal shifts might subtly influence sex ratios, but these effects are marginal and not enough to counteract cultural pressures. so does the human body adapt to the natural or constructed imbalances..even though Chinas sex of baby males were 150/100 female..
human civilization, for all its brilliance, often mirrors the blind instinct of swarm behavior, driven by consumption, reproduction, and hierarchy.to eat, to love, to create, to pass on wisdom—these are the elemental truths. And yet, in the noise of civilization, they’re often drowned out by the hum of ambition and fear.Human civilization to me often mirrors the instinctive behavior of swarm species—building, consuming, and dismantling with relentless energy, much like army ants or wasps that raid bee hives for honey without contributing to the balance. Many live simply to breed and eat, while others chase abstract values like wealth or status—numbers on a screen that offer no true nourishment. In this dynamic, the “queen bee” archetype can become a symbol of unchecked power that destabilizes rather than nurtures the hive of society. by weakening the base of the hive of human civilization the country is also weakened. take The U.S.A. which has reached a troubling crossroads where leadership decisions have left the population unbalanced and disillusioned. Our youth are increasingly disconnected, bombarded by ethically questionable media, local gang life and deprived of meaningful adult guidance as families struggle under long work hours and mounting stress. The healthcare system, while advanced in appearance, serves only those who can afford it—leaving millions behind. I have seen so many turned away from care because of money issues. insurance industry that doesn’t represent the people or the medical industry. its sole purpose take away. According to the U.S. Surgeon General’s advisory, our system is not equipped to support youth mental health, and the pressures they face—from social media to economic instability—are unprecedented and if you ask me really scary. Our politicians and custodial leaders have engineered a society that breeds anxiety and inequality, yet fails to provide the essential tools for our own survival as an advanced country of growth—let alone the means to thrive. This isn’t merely a policy failure; it’s a collapse of moral stewardship by those we vote in or the companies that we rely on to form a way of life. By their constant eroding the foundational base of our countries pyramid—education, healthcare, family structure, ethical guidance—we are dismantling the very supports that uphold our existence. A tower cannot stand without a strong base. And as we neglect the roots of our society, we invite its inevitable fall. One glance at our Congress and administration reveals a troubling truth: while the nation faces a mountain of existential challenges—from collapsing healthcare and fractured families to the moral decay of our youth—those in power seem more concerned with recess than responsibility. The very foundation of our civilization is being eroded, and instead of reinforcing the base, our leaders abandon their posts. This isn’t just negligence; it’s a betrayal of stewardship. A society cannot thrive when its architects ignore the cracks in its foundation. And as the tower begins to sway, we’re left wondering if anyone at the top even sees the danger. As an old scientist I once knew always said… “Think about it.”

  7. Garlic wine..

ok this is not one for drinking.. its a wine used for salad dressings or to marinade a steak or roast..

  8. Glad to hear about Stu’s situation … one HUGE mental burden taken off of his plate.

Nasdaq back to an All Time Closing HIGH yesterday … the GREED juices continue to flow wrt the markets even though the everyday economy continues to slow. (of course the onging removal of more and more “illegal” immigrants from the workforce is going to distort the numbers, probably for MONTHS since it too YEARS for them to grow wrt the labor force).

The Las Vegas slowdown is an indicator of the Middle Class and Upper Middle Class impact; the fast food slowdown (note Wendy’s guidance today) is an indicator of the working class slowdown; the cutting of vacation tour pricings (HUGE cuts) along with the airlines warning of lower load factors and revenues are an indicator of corporate cutbacks wrt their discretionary spending; the WORST spring home sale seasonin 30 years … even worse than after the crash back in ’08 is a further indication of a stressed consumer.

Before emailing of documents was so popular an ex roommate who was a senior pilot for Airborne /DHL used to use the load factor on his plane as an very accurate economic indicator – he liked the LA run a LOT, the company apartments were at Marina del Ray and they had the entire weekend off!! PARTY TIME! – … when companies would seriously cut back the volume of their overnight overnight letter packs he knew a recession was already occuring under the surface with earning disapointments coming in the next quarter’s numbers.

In the 2006 – 2008 time frame the economy was clearly deteriorating under the surface for 12 – 18 months before Lehman blew up and the stock market took serious notice so the market can keep going up even as things deteriorate under the surface.

How long will the divergence between the real economy and the stock market last this time? GREED is still in the driver’s seat at the moment!

Normally WAR is good for the markets … but some Wars many NOT be, so this time the market break may be Outside Event event driven.

      • Good news for Stu (and all of us)!

So the bureaucrats, middle managers, and bean counters couldn’t get the job done without him… I just can’t SHRUG off the feeling I’ve heard this story before…

Only question I have is “Who is GA Stewart?”

        • GA Stewart is the Nostradamus Expert who sometimes posts here. He went back to the original texts, including some that hadn’t appeared in translated form, and retranslated them finding numerous errors that had crept in over the centuries … making his interpretations of Nostradamus probably the best that have been done in several hundred years.

For his day job he was one of the few people who ran one of plane simulators for the Air Force (via an outside contractor) for the B-52s. For whatever reason the DoD and outside contractor thought that having B-52 guys learn to fly, or renew their skills, in a simulator was a waste of time/money (unlike ALL the airlines in the world or find simulators very necessary) and shut his program down. Voila he was out of a job after decades of doing it even though the Air Force still flies B-52’s.

Not sure what the DoD /Air Force was thinking … but apparently now that they shut the B-52 flight simulator program down they have had second thoughts and are restarting it … which means GA Stewart can go back to work.

Hope that helps (and I apologize if I got small parts of the above incorrect)

  9. George,
I agree with your first paragraph today,
“For a people once victims of genocide themselves, Israel is disappointing. So are the decisions lately of “Fearless Leader” with regard to the Middle East.”

But after that I think you go off the rails. Given the evidence uncovered since Hama’s attack on Israel almost two years ago, Israel was at least complicit in the planning and execution of the attack in order to kick off their “Greater Israel Project”, about which much has been discussed and written by the psychopathic leaders of Zionist Israel themselves. What the world has witnessed is, for the most part, an Israeli slaughter of non-combatants to ethnically cleanse and genocide the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.

I personally identify with the plight of the Palestinians because I believe we Americans also live in an “occupied country “; occupied” by both representatives of the Zionist Israeli regime and by our own Christian Zionist radicals (e.g., Mike Huckabee, Mike Johnson, Ted Cruz, Lindsey Graham). What Israel is currently perpetrating in Gaza may eventually be visited upon the “goyim” of America, because world domination is the goal of the Zionists.

I believe what we’re watching worldwide is a spiritual Battle between Good and Evil, and contrary to many American’s views of us being exceptional and a force of Good, I feel the the actions of the US government for the past 70 – 80 years have been more rightfully found on the Evil side of the ledger. Life has become easier for most Americans during this period and a delusional matrix of corruption and decay within our institutions has slowly eaten away at the foundations of our constitutional republic leaving us facing a dystopian 1984 reality in the future.

I believe most Americans now see the actions of Israel as an embodiment of true, in-your-face Evil – will this enable us to veer off the road to totalitarianism and right our course? I hope so.

    • Way off the rails – ya bloody bastard.

    • (“the actions of the US government for the past 70 – 80 years have been more rightfully found on the Evil side of the ledger. Life has become easier for most Americans during this period “)

Hmm…what do I see is That For the past 70 to 80 years, the actions of the U.S. government have increasingly tilted toward the darker side of the ledger—favoring systems that breed inequality, anxiety, and dependence. While life may appear easier for many Americans, that ease is often an illusion propped up by credit cards and consumer debt. As the Federal Reserve Once noted, credit cards evolved from a convenience for the wealthy into a ubiquitous tool that encouraged widespread over indebtedness, especially among those least able to pay. The top tiers of society remain blind to the suffering at the base if it doesn’t affect them then it doesn’t exist—where families struggle with failing healthcare, fractured education, and moral erosion. The issues are buried beneath layers of abstraction, hidden from view. If it doesn’t exist in their lives it doesn’t exist. In Considering the 1930s, hunger lined the streets in visible queues—soup lines that bore witness to economic collapse. Today, the lines remain, but they’re hidden behind food stamps and digital transactions by not being visible they are gone instead the sentiments are these sub humans the disposable in our society should just cease to exist, masking the same desperation with a veneer of modernity. The imbalance is staggering: for every one person in a soup line then, fifteen thousand now rely on assistance, unseen and unacknowledged. Economic graphs Of G’s tells the story and gives us all the visual even looking at it laid out it vanishes because. it doesn’t pertain to them—wealth flows upward while the base erodes even while they voice their perspectives and needs our congress unaffected and uncaring hasten themselves away from working this problem. We’ve abandoned the structured hive of society, where each tier had purpose and possibility, and replaced it with a binary caste: the haves and the have-nots. Without a middle, without mobility, people lose not just income but identity. The elite innovate while the rest survive, and in that survival, the soul of a nation quietly starves. the only reason it appears as being better is only because it doesn’t affect them. like the young woman in the grocery store..I could read her expressions like a book.. when I asked my brother about it..his res

  12. George,

Great column today and so spot on. It is all about our spirit and who we decide to be.

Thanks to you and Stephen 2 for the well wishes. Besides some surgery last year, I don’t think I have had that much time off since I was in my 30s. That would be over 30-years ago.

The time off last year, all I could do was sit in a chair for almost two months, and that was not fun at all.

This time, I got a taste of what retirement could be and I was starting to like it. But I do love what I do.

Unfortunately, some people were not brought back and some people told the company to get f**ked, and so they quit and were immediately sucked up by the competitor.

I expect that some of my technicians are going to get snatched up too. However, personally, I think the government is going to go broke before any of that happens.

In fact, I built into my personal plans some game changing event coming very soon before the end of the year, and as I describe in my last post, come this month.

Most likely this would be what I call “The First Blow of Steel.” My interpretation, first published in 2007, is that this Nostradamus prediction is some nuclear-type event in Gaza or the West Bank… Most likely Gaza because of the smuggling tunnels between Egypt and Gaza.

According to Nostradamus, this will be an Egyptian made device. With events in Gaza now so horrible, as George described in this post, and Israel’s declaration today to take over Gaza, this prediction is now not too hard to imagine.

According to Nostradamus, this is what sets the rock rolling down the mountain with “We the People” at the very bottom.

I have been in the came now for all my life: 31 years in and working with active. I use to have many questions about America’s capabilities and readiness, mostly on the industrial side.

One of my seasoned retired Colonel coworkers simply said, “If you think we’re bad, they’re worse.”

I came to accept that after Ukraine’s penetrating drone attack that took out approximately 40 Russian bombers; I said to myself. “He was right.”

War has always been around us. It takes different forms, it’s the robber in my apartment who is staring down the barrel of my assault weapon; it’s the poor slob walking down the street who gets sucker-punched for no reason; it’s someone getting murdered for a few bucks.

…On October 21, 1911, in a talk titled “The Pitiful Causes of War, and the Duty of Everyone to Strive for Peace.”

“I wonder at the human savagery that still exists in the world! How is it possible for men to fight from morning until evening, killing each other, shedding the blood of their fellow-men: And for what object… How terrible it is that men, who are of the higher kingdom, can descend to slaying and bringing misery to their fellow-beings, for the possession of a tract of land!”

We all make choices on how we are going to deal with this reality; because the violence is not only at some grand level, it’s granular, at the street level.

I come from a family that has covered every war since my great-grandfather fought for Italian General Giuseppe Garibaldi, who unified Italy in the 19th century.

For all the hardcore out there, he became a merchant sailor and on one trip, he jumped ship in New York harbor and became an illegal immigrant.

War is a brain changer. My grandfather, whose father fought for Garibaldi, was gassed in World War I; my father lost 5 inches of his left arm in Korea; his brother died in a sabotaged airplane on the way to Vietnam.

My naval detachment picked up the pieces of Vietnam. Look at some of those pictures of the people we rescued in my helicopter. Besides the material goods, war takes away what’s between people’s ears and what’s in their hearts.

I like to think that the mythology and science fiction that I read as a kid helped shaped my moral view.

“Be all you can be” and for the good.

George’s son is the perfect example of that… Look at the crazy stuff George II does.

I wrote in my last post, “I once joked with my coworkers about my professional dedication; when it all goes south for America, they will be calling up the 60-year olds.”

    https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/zelensky-signs-law-allowing-ukrainians-over-60-join-military
“Zelensky Signs Law Allowing Ukrainians Over 60 To Join The Military”

That is the real world. When they call up the 60-year olds, the war is already lost.

In my books, various prophets predict that this will come to America. Imagine an unstoppable horde that comes to your shores; think history, Attila, Genghis Khan, Xerxes.

What are you going to do about it if the American military can’t stop it?

When I read Tom Clancy’s book, “Red Storm Rising”, he pictured the Russians calling up the 60-year olds to sustain the Russian advance. And so right now, Ukraine is a good model for how bad it can get… from street roundup crews sweeping people of the street and shipping them to the front, to the videos of drones flying up the ass end of a vehicle, to hand to hand combat in trenches.

And so I have recently realized that if I actually believe in my own work, I had better be prepared for this eventuality. I think God was making the point with four feet of the Bay outside of my front door with Hurricane Helene.

At 68, I was getting lazy; it was, “Should I care?” Reality forces you to care.

And it does matter when or where… took a spill on the bicycle on the way to the beach last night, realized that I had to eject, and I leaped over the handle bars as the bike went down and landed on my feet.

George is right, “You may not be able to Do It All.” But I say you can damn sure try:

    “That is Bushido…”

    1:47: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HjBQ-A7vnw

George, at the bottom of the page is the video that I was talking about in our telephone conversation. It’s just some of the crazy stuff I like about my job and when I’m bored.

I’m glad things are looking up..been there..done that..that’s how I discovered urban survival many years ago..I was stuck in a chair..pain so intense and the doctors telling my wife my life was on the end throws..once being very active and working long hours it went from movement to absolutely nothing but struggling. then a professor friend heading to give a speech for Ted Talks stopped by and suggested urban and age of desolation that G and you had such a diverse perspectives that it would help keep my mind focussed on other things..I have been a fan ever since got all hour books read them all several times.. keep with it you guys rock..

  14. “For a people once victims of genocide themselves, Israel is disappointing. ”

You’re right. The only reasonable way for the Israelis to behave is to allow themselves to be genocided out of existence.
    ======

“Israel’s immediate response was shock and fury. The government declared a state of war and launched “Operation Swords of Iron” to crush Hamas’s military capacity and secure the Gaza frontier.”

    No.

The stated objective of “Swords of Iron” was the eradication, to the last man, of Hamas. Consensus at the time was people who would livestream themselves raping newborn infants while, and after decapitating them, were too vile to live and too sick to ever be rehabilitated.
    ======

“The fighting displaced over 90% of Gaza’s population.”

    Gaza’s total population on October 6, 2023 was ~2,390,000. Remember that number…
    ======

“On August 8, 2025, Israel’s security cabinet approved a plan to retake and occupy Gaza City, aiming to disarm Hamas, impose Israeli security control, and eventually transfer governance to friendly Arab authorities. The plan could displace up to a million more Palestinians.”

    90% of 2.39mln is 2.15mln.

Somehow, the IDF occupation of Gaza City will displace 1mln of 239k people.

Say, you don’t suppose somebody’s lying, do you?
    ======

“Critics warn the plan risks the safety of the remaining hostages—around 59 are still believed held”

Of this 59, 37 are believed to be dead.
    ======

“Neighboring Arab states have largely declined to intervene. Egypt refuses to open its border—fearful of regional destabilization—and Jordan has declined entry, citing security concerns.”

Possibly, they are not fearful of “regional destabilization” or “security concerns,” but merely want everyone in Hamas to die, because they are too vile to live?
    ======

“If you perchance to wonder, “Why haven’t we been visited by advanced civilizations? Where are the Brothers of the Sky?”

Maybe they refuse to acknowledge their presence to us until we cure the social disease indicated by some of our species who are too vile to live, being both allowed to live, and excused for their actions.
    ======

    The Palestinians are starving.

I see no mention of the 1.91 million tons of food Israel has trucked and airlifted into Gaza since 10/17/2023 — much of which has been stolen and used by Hamas or traded for arms.

In the meantime, Mr. Trump just today stopped the war I personally believed would spawn WW-III — a war no one here knew anything about, until I detailed it on these pages a couple years ago.

Once the IDF has possession of Gaza City, WE, probably under the auspices of either the U.N. or NATO, will insert a ” multinational peacekeeping force” to guard the food supply, and bring in Rev. Franklin Graham’s “Samaritan’s Purse” in force, to handle and distribute food which the U.S., Canada, and some Urepeein nations will airlift into Gaza.

    • the treatment of enemies’ infants is historically grounded in their religios texts—but not Babylonian in origin like I originally thought. The most cited example comes from the Hebrew Bible, specifically.
Psalm 137:9 – “Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks.” This verse reflects the anguish and rage of the Israelites during Babylonian exile, not a Babylonian doctrine. It’s poetic lamentation, not a prescription. As TheTorah.com notes, ancient Near Eastern rulers—including Israelite scribes—often justified war crimes by portraying enemies as existential threats to divine order. This mirrors modern rhetoric used to rationalize extreme military actions.Ancient Hebrew texts—especially those in the Hebrew Bible—contain passages that have been interpreted as justifying extreme violence, particularly in the context of war and divine command. These texts reflect the historical and theological worldview of a tribal society navigating survival, identity, and covenant with God.Several ancient Hebrew texts depict or justify extreme violence, often framed as divine command in the context of war and covenant. In Deuteronomy 20:16–18, the Israelites are instructed to annihilate entire populations—the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, and others—leaving “nothing that breathes,” to prevent spiritual contamination from foreign practices. 1 Samuel 15 recounts God’s command to Saul to utterly destroy the Amalekites, including men, women, children, and infants, as retribution for past aggression; Saul’s partial obedience leads to his downfall. In Numbers 31, Moses orders the killing of all Midianite males and non-virgin women, sparing only virgin girls, in a ritual purification after idolatrous seduction. Meanwhile, Psalm 137:9 offers a haunting poetic lament from the Babylonian exile: “Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks,” expressing raw grief and vengeance rather than legal instruction. These texts reflect the brutal realities of ancient tribal warfare and the theological lens through which survival and identity were interpreted—though later Jewish thought often recontextualized them toward mercy, justice, and ethical restraint. These same examples exist in the Quran as well..while in the USA we pick a verse to use as an example..they live the whole teachings and even though what is known as gruesome and ethically vile..they see as justified for their faith. the story of Moses and escaping the slavery of the Egyptians depends on which side of that story your reflecting to..the o ex where they were slaves verses the one where they were well paid employees and when the left they stood raped and pillaged.. this is why I am under strict rules to not discuss religion with any visitors in our home..or politics lol

      • So, you’re okay with the rape and murder of babies and children, garroting parents in front of their children (and vice versa), lopping teenage girls’ breasts off and choking them to death on the mammary tissue while raping them, and the other pleasantries with which Hamas and the Palestinians greeted their neighbors on 10/7?

Maybe you should watch a couple of Hamas’ videos…

        • Not at all—I absolutely condemn the horrific acts committed on October 7. No civilized society can justify the rape and murder of children or the slaughter of families. But we must also look beyond the horror and examine the systems that allow such cycles to persist. One glance at the “Big Beautiful Bill” reveals a business model that favors the wealthy—those in McMansions gain tens of thousands, while working-class Americans are asked to contribute more. We’re running the world’s police department on the taxes of burger-flippers, while our own citizens struggle. This isn’t just a war of weapons—it’s a tribal, religious conflict that’s been burning since the dawn of time. Realistically, there’s little sedan do without rethinking the entire structure. we haven’t been able to solve our own issues instead asked to sacrifice more to solve issues that have been going on for thousands of years.politicians that could care less about the health and well-being of the poorest among us.. the lopsided failure of the medical and pharmaceutical industries of the us citizens or the lopsided educational system set up to benefit only the worthy all while asking the families of the worthless eaters to sacrifice their husbands wives and children for the benefit of countries that are unwilling to fix their own countries needs.
The consider that there were multiple reports confirming that Israeli intelligence had prior warnings about Hamas’s plans. Analysts had access to documents detailing Hamas’s strategy, including rehearsals and tactical outlines. Yet these warnings were dismissed or misinterpreted due to overconfidence in border defenses and assumptions about Hamas’s intentions..so was this all a political setup to get our military involved in a war and genocide of the innocent of those countries.

        • Now Considering the religious convictions of those who committed the atrocities on October , it’s clear they violated the very core of Islamic teachings. The Qur’an strictly forbids harm to the innocent—especially children, the elderly, and non-combatants. True followers of the Prophet Muhammad would know that such acts are grave sins, not acts of faith. This should have been handled by the governments of the perpetrators under their own laws—not met with retaliatory actions that have devastated the broader Palestinian population, many of whom had no part in the violence. Instead, we were drawn into a military response that mirrors the horror we condemned, and it’s hard to ignore the strategic interests at play—like the Leviathan gas field, which has become a geopolitical prize amid the chaos

        • Both the Torah and the Qur’an emphasize the sanctity of life and the protection of the innocent. The Qur’an explicitly forbids the killing of children, non-combatants, and the elderly. True followers of Islam are bound by divine law to oppose atrocities, not commit them. Similarly, the Torah commands justice, mercy, and the defense of the vulnerable.

If Israel had formally requested help from neighboring Muslim-majority nations to deal with Hamas—framing it as a moral and theological obligation—many Islamic scholars argue that those governments would have been religiously bound to intervene or assist in retrieving hostages and dismantling the criminal elements. Refusing such a request could be seen as dishonoring the Qur’an, especially if the crimes committed violated its core teachings…
The conflict between Jews and Arabs is often traced back to the biblical story of Abraham’s two sons—Isaac and Ishmael. According to Genesis and Islamic tradition, Ishmael became the forefather of the Arab tribes, while Isaac fathered Jacob (Israel), the patriarch of the Jewish people. This makes them, in essence, spiritual brothers, and their descendants—Jews and Muslims—extended family in a theological sense. This is a Hatfield/McCoy type feud .. they are still extended family that was split apart by deceit.. that’s one reason why none of the refugees were allowed in to Saudi arabia..by retaliation rather than following the Quran and Mohammed teachings they are bound to honor and obey.. so refusal to free the hostages and publicly deal with the terrorist gangs would have been a refusal to follow their strict code of ethics essentially spItting on the Holy Quran…In Islamic jurisprudence and theology, the Qur’an is not merely a book—it is the living word of God, a divine covenant that binds believers to uphold justice, mercy, and truth. If a Muslim-majority nation were formally asked to intervene in a situation where innocent lives were being taken, hostages held, and criminal gangs operating in violation of Islamic law—and they refused out of political convenience or bias—then that refusal could be interpreted as a betrayal of Qur’anic principles.Had Israel appealed not just politically but theologically, invoking the shared Abrahamic lineage and the moral duties enshrined in the Qur’an, it could have created a moment of spiritual reckoning. A chance for Muslim leaders to rise above geopolitics and act as guardians of divine justice.
Refusing that call would not only fracture political ties—it would fracture the soul of the Israelis by responding with merciless retaliation, they not only violated international norms but also contradicted the sacred teachings of the Qur’an, and Torah which demand restraint, justice, and the protection of innocents. In doing so, they triggered a profound theological consequence: the moral obligation of all Muslim nations to rise as one in defense of the vulnerable. The Qur’an commands believers to protect the oppressed, uphold mercy even in conflict, and never exceed the bounds of justice. When revenge replaces righteousness, it desecrates divine law and fractures the spiritual covenant shared by the descendants of Abraham. Silence in the face of such suffering is not neutrality—it is complicity. Now, the ummah must remember its ancient duty, not to retaliate, but to restore dignity, shield the innocent, and honor the sacred trust entrusted to them by God. This is an ancient religious battle..ignited by what amounts to a hood gang, By involving ourselves militarily and politically, we have stepped directly into an ancient religious feud—one rooted not just in land and power, but in lineage, prophecy, and centuries of wounded pride. This is not a conventional conflict it’s a tribal and theological struggle that traces back to the sons of Abraham, where betrayal and vengeance have echoed across generations. Our involvement makes us more than observers—we are now participants in a sacred dispute that demands spiritual understanding, not just strategic calculation. And in doing so, we inherit not only the consequences of war, but the moral weight of choosing sides in a family quarrel that was never ours to judge. In the West, war is often a business model—an engine of profit disguised as patriotism. We send young souls into battle not for sacred duty, but to stuff the pockets of Big Buck Billies, whose empires thrive on destruction. The calculus is cold resources, contracts, influence. Morality is a marketing tool, not a compass.
But in many Arab nations, conflict is not merely transactional—it’s ancestral. It spirals from ancient family disputes, rooted in religious obligation, tribal honor, and centuries of sacred texts. Their wars are not waged for quarterly earnings, but for lineage, legacy, and divine alignment. The battlefield is a place of moral reckoning, not corporate expansion. So when we enter these lands with our drones and deals, we misunderstand the terrain. We bring spreadsheets to a scripture fight. We impose strategy where they invoke prophecy. And in doing so, we not only escalate violence—we desecrate meaning.
in other words by getting involved and their inaction of proceeding the moral way we are now deep in it.. in three words …WE ARE SCREWED…Of course I’m just a nobody in the middle of the wastelands of the USA.. no formal edjumification and a moron with an opinion.. ya gotta get the opinion of them thar smartish guys that know what they are doing.. this whole thing is ugly ..

        • I know..that was kind of long.. but there’s no way I could break down that messy family feud in ten words or less..
unlike the Hatfield/McCoy feud where all you have to say was ..that was my pig you stole..as the beginning..what I fear is by getting involved.. we united the tribes of the middle east. all for big buck billies pockets..

  15. Steady hand on the tiller? Not so much… Trump gives Putin deadline as Ukraine peace talks and tensions loom .

Putin knuckled to the deadline. Trump and Putin now have a set meeting.

    • I believe we will go to war. For decades, our enemies said they’d invade from within—and now we see it as totally possible. They own vast lands, control lending agencies that can seize homes and businesses, and have sold off our ports of industry. We are dependent on their I dusty for our very existence. Our leaders were bought with money, sex, and vacations and every other form of depravity or just being vacant from doing the jobs we hired them to do. Congress votes on thousand-page bills they don’t read or write gone more than present the floor of congress a symbol of mockery to the forefathers we once had of vision. Borders are wide open, and states like California build homes for illegals while our own citizens struggle. We fund free education and healthcare for millions who aren’t even citizens, while veterans sleep on the streets. The city of liberty and foundation now one where people walk like zombies seeking to escape reality..

This isn’t just mismanagement—it’s a quiet war and should be extremely disturbing examples yet congress needed months away from reality of life of those in the usa.. it doesn’t exist if it doesn’t effect their lives. And if we don’t wake up, it won’t stay quiet for long what scares me is the potential for some extremely different progression of event models.

    • August 8th was trump’s sanction deadline. TACO again. Now he’s inviting the indicted war criminal to the states. Trump throws the ICC, the 1994 ukraine security agreement and UN into the wind and is also excluding one of the necessary parties to the negotiations. Trump is going to reward putin for violating international law by giving russia ukrainian lands.

nope, there’s nothing to be proud of here.

  16. “We’ve been quietly muttering for a long time that America’s Founders screwed up by not lumping corporations into the doctrine of Separation of Powers – as in Church and State.”

This doctrine does not exist anywhere in United States law. It only exists in the Constitution of the Soviet Union which, last time I checked, does not apply to us…

  17. “n politics especially, payback’s a bitch: Enraged House Democrats prepare to go scorched earth on redistricting. Here in Texas, democrats were still holding the states lawmaking process hostage.”

“Payback” is what the Texas Legislature is trying to do. The Dems and RINOs in your Legislature Gerrymandered Texas’ Districts. The Legislature is trying to fix this injustice. They were prompted to do so a couple months back, when Newscum announced his intention to Gerrymander California to convert five Republican Cali Districts to Democrat Districts.

BTW, if the Dems play this game, should the Republicans decide to ante in, the Republicans will gain a net, 12 Congressional Districts, nationwide. Intellectual idiots like Hakeem Jeffries shoulda paid attention in their 5th Grade Arithmetic class before opening their mouths…

  18. Life goes on, until it doesn’t.This afternoon as I turned a corner after dropping off an elderly veteran at their home—just a routine act of daily living and helping someone that needed a ride . But as I sped up to road speed, the steering gave out OMG that was a colon evacuation experience. The vehicle careened out of control, and in that instant, everything else faded. No dramatic concerns, no philosophical weight—just raw motion Of fear and the edge of fate. It’s strange how quickly clarity arrives when control disappears. The fragility of life isn’t always in the grand events—it’s in the quiet corners, the sudden turns, the moments we almost don’t come back from. life reflection at its best what do I do..would it be such a bad thing IF fate had dealt me a different reality this afternoon???. very few would truly miss my presence on this planet. I’m a bottom feeding catfish where life would run easier with out my stupid philosophical opinions of life and it will always go on.
