Powell Appearance Looms , Obama Admin Coup? Bio-Hacking Booze

Three story Monte is our game this Monday morning.

An explanation, if you’re not old enough to track:

“Three Card Monte is a confidence game, or scam, where a dealer (the con artist) uses sleight of hand to trick the player into guessing the location of a designated card, usually a “money card” like the Queen of Hearts, after they are mixed up face down. The game is rigged, and the player is virtually guaranteed to lose their bet.”

Except, of course, we have nothing but winners.

Powell Looms

I’ve been up for several hours now – looking for signs and portents on how the market will break (higher or lower) in the face of news events now – and next week when the Fed plays Rate Roulette.

Don’t mistake our view as “fortune-telling.”  Because this is Fortune telling: Stock market today: Dow futures turn higher ahead of a big week | Fortune.,

Meanwhile – with The Donald pointing in Powell’s direction over Federal Reserve HQ construction, the Developer in Chief is also playing Denier in Chief as “Trump disputes Wall Street Journal’s accusations.”  This time on Bessent and Powell, but last week’s Epstein birthday card-toon was a stinger, too.

What’s instructive to watch is how the heavy keel of money works to keep the American “ship of State” upright.  Sometimes the money moves first, other times the political parties move first.  In an ideal world, the checks would all clear and the way ahead would be clear.  But not so much.

Tomorrow it’s a banking conference for Powell.  Question is whether he will work in some justifications for the massive Fedquarters upgrades as HUD chief Turner blasts Powell for Fed renovations amid housing crisis.

With Powell at the open tomorrow (temporally, not literally – try to keep up) we expect a rally today, but it might be a “buy the rumor, sell the Fed box” set-up.

Another Cp0nspirary Proves Right?

We all remember how the Obama/Hillary intel sorts were widely reported to have engaged in a “soft coup” to keep Donald Trump out of office.  Dems are still citing Russiagate and pointing to “intel” – but now that [whole sorry mess] is about to be replayed again.  As Tulsi Gabbard: Intel Officials Hid Anti-Trump Coup by Obama Admin.

While we wait for the Monetizer-in-Chief to come out with the Women of Trump calendar, we expect blaming Obama (and his “intel” yes-sirs”) will play well and gain her favor with the Boss.  (We’re waiting for a re-issue of Trump vodka.)

Who, now that we think about it, doesn’t seem especially inclined to listen to anyone – except his own semi-random media sojourns into lah-lah land.  Which, in turn gets us to:

Shake, Rattle, and Stream

Ring of Fire Watch is underway:

We’re still in the July window where “seers” have a sense of a major Japan-area quake with massive damage and a view of a mountain (Fuji?) in the process.

While it ain’t no “cigar” it’s at least a scrounged-up ciggie-butt as we read Why Alaska’s recent 7.3 earthquake has caught the attention of scientists. That’s the blue-blob in the graphic right.

It’s not just Alaska, either.

Reader Hank was reporting lava flowing again not far from his home out on the Big Island of Howayah,”

And there are growing concerns that things ain’t normal in the Washington Cascades. There was a story last week (Earthquake swarm at Mount Rainier continues as more than 800 tremors rattle the catastrophic volcano) that should have west coast residents re-checking food and water supplies and updating their families on after-quake communications and meet-up plans.

For the Droller Scroller

Line ’em up, news-tender:

Here comes the hard-sell on climate: This is the summer of flooding across the US, and scientists know why. (Consider the source?)

Ready for another week of Teeter-Totter Trump Trade Talk (5T)? Howard Lutnick, commerce secretary, predicts action on trade talks before Aug. 1 tariff deadline.  OK, not much of a prediction given all the money on the table – someone will make a move on it.

Vaccine politics is still making waves: Moderna Spikevax-FDA Post Mortem byDr.Robert Malone is worth a read.  Especially if you believed the mainstream on this:  Update: Report of Robert Kennedy Jr. Firing Two Top HHS Officials Is Incorrect – Pro-Trump Official Resigned and Was Not Fired.

And a wrap up of “Look, Up in the Sky” items:

Warm-up for you?

Around the Ranch: Bio-Boozing (or Hooch-Hacking)

I’ve told you the story before – but it’s formative so a quick review.

When I turned 16, I was an AM radio station transmitter engineer.  While my high school classmates were flipping burgers on the cheap, I was rolling in $10-bucks an hour,  Writing down a handful of transmitter numbers every half-hour at the local R&B daytimer on 1460 kHz.

This would be the equivalent of a high school senior making almost $100/hour today.  Seriously:  $10 in 1966 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $99.22 today, an increase of $89.22 over 59 years.

To make a long story longer, Pappy came down to my basement ham radio lab one day (senior year) and handed me a box of Optimo White Owl cigars and a fifth of Passport scotch.  He gave me polite (but firm) parental directions.

“Another high school-aged student died in a car crash down in Rainer Valley (of Seattle) last night.  Cops tell me it was beer and reckless driving.  Here’s a bottle of scotch. I don’t want you drinking and driving because too many kids get killed that way.  Drink at home, don’t drive.  And don’t work on high-voltages after even a sip, got it?”

I was blessed with a truly enlightened father.  And ever since that time, I have made it a point to hold out for quality in life.  Remembering my idea of quality and yours will be different, of course.

Which gets me to the Endodontist ‘re-check’ this week.  Because  my 45-minute drive up to Tyler, Texas will route me past Fat Dog liquor in Coffee City. Which means today I have time to carefully think-through my shopping list.

That’s where Hooch-Hacking and Bio-Boozing enters the discussion.  And my Ai stack was ready to pour me one:

“We’ve all heard the whispers from the wine aisle—“Red wine’s good for your heart,” they say, with a wink and a bottle of Pinot Noir. But is there really such a thing as a longevity-friendly libation? Turns out, yes…ish.

Red wine brings resveratrol to the table, a polyphenol tied to heart health and anti-aging pathways like sirtuin activation. (Sinclair, et al) In moderation (the original weasel word), it might just offer a tiny boost on the path to centenarian chic. But what about the rest of the bar?

Whisky fans point to peat and iodine content in a good Scotch, which may have mild antimicrobial and thyroid-tickling effects.

Tequila, oddly enough, has been linked to gut health thanks to agavins—non-digestible fibers that can feed good bacteria.

Even moderate beer drinkers may get a B-vitamin kick from unfiltered brews.

The caveat? These “benefits” vanish with excess. The key isn’t the booze—it’s the biochemistry ballet it sparks. One drink might signal repair; three signals detox.

The real takeaway? If you’re going to imbibe, do it with a biohacker’s eye: look for clean ingredients, skip the sugary mixers, hydrate like a camel, and maybe pair that Bordeaux with a cold plunge and some NAD+ boosters. In the end, the healthiest booze is the one you didn’t drink too much of. But if you’re playing the odds, red wine gets the resveratrol crown—just don’t expect it to reverse that triple cheeseburger.”

Since we already have resveratrol in our daily vitamin stacks, more red wine isn’t going to help.  Scotch, on the other hand with that gentle iodine bump, well.   But with hot weather (94F today) the idea of gin keeps circling in background…

“Gin doesn’t get the same anti-aging headlines as red wine or the smoky mystique of Scotch, but under the hood, it’s got a botanical soul. The core ingredient, juniper berries, packs antioxidants and natural anti-inflammatory compounds. Historically, juniper was even used medicinally—for digestion, arthritis, and urinary tract health. Some modern studies hint at mild antimicrobial and diuretic effects from its oils, which may support kidney health and reduce bloating.

Add to that the other herbal guests—angelica root, coriander, citrus peel—and you’ve got a distilled garden party. Some boutique gins are almost tinctures in disguise. Just be sure to pick a clean gin with minimal additives, and use tonic water with low or no sugar (or better yet, soda water and a squeeze of lime). Bonus? Compared to beer or sugary cocktails, gin has a lower glycemic footprint—less likely to spike blood sugar or mess with your fast.”

And is you find yourself humming “Ain’t no cure for the summertime booze” there’s always fall-back to shopping to stock the gourmet food liquid cooking agents.  (I assume you toss in a shot of Cointreau for de-glaze your picatta pans?).  Gin…hmm… anyone got a curry vibe gin?

“Turmeric-infused gins and vodkas are popping up, especially in the artisan wellness market. Add a hit of black pepper and ginger, and you’re halfway to sipping something that mimics golden curry notes—without needing naan on the side.”  (Naan is an unleavened flatbread – you’re supposed to know these things…)

Yes, Powell’s comments matter and sure, no surprise that the Big O didn’t want Big D in the Oval.  But life is more about pleasure in the summer.  We’re doing what we can to keep it that way.

ShopTalk Sunday is here if you missed it.

G.A. STEWART: Given the alleged corruption of Volodymyr Zelensky, I think he will probably disappear to that same garden spot to which Jeffrey Epstein retired.

    https://aheadoftheherd.com/chinese-food-for-thought-and-taking-your-bank-bob-moriarty-rick-mills/

BM: I haven’t but I need to research it because that’s absolutely true and I can give you a better description of what went on with Epstein than anybody you can interview. Whitney Webb web wrote two brilliant books called ‘The United States of Blackmail’ and it’s an incredible book.

If Americans understood how corrupt the government and the powerful leaders and businesses are there would be a revolution tomorrow. Trump has signed his own epitaph by trying to bury Epstein.

RM: I talked to John Rubino this morning and we talked about Epstein, and he’s got a theory that a Mossad CIA combo set up Epstein on purpose to get a blackmail hold over the world’s leaders and it was the children of course.

BM: It is, it’s totally dead wrong. Trump was Epstein’s best friend.

RM: You don’t think there’s been blackmail attempts by the Mossad et al?

BM: Yeah of course there are, but the biggest thing about the whole release is the fact that Donald Trump was just as guilty as everybody else. Now I have seen three reports including a video of Jeffrey Epstein talking about Trump. Jeffrey Epstein was the biggest Mossad agent in Israeli history: it was the most successful operation ever.

He was taken out of the prison in New York City and he’s alive and well in Israel today as there is no way that they’re ever going to identify who the people were because Donald Trump’s going to be at the top of the list.

RM: Well, there’s certainly no public autopsy reports on Jeffrey Epstein.

    BM: Jeffrey Epstein didn’t die.

    RM: Exactly.

Then, having turned on the outside approach lights, I drifted off on the couch. After mild scolding about staying on after the street lights came on (we don’t have street lights, hardly have streets) I let it pass.

Family maxim, from my Dad : just don’t leave the lake. Dad told me. I told E2. E2 will tell E3. Guess someone needs to tell Mrs. E?

‘Because many of the documents are redacted or sealed, potentially vital pieces of the larger puzzle in understanding Epstein and his dealings remain incomplete. The Miami Herald, which published an award-winning investigative series on Epstein, and its parent company, McClatchy, sued in 2018 to make the documents public.

Records have been unsealed gradually over the years, though not in full, which the Herald has challenged. Last month, Judge Loretta Preska of the Southern District of New York ordered the public disclosure of the identities of about 150 people mentioned in court documents,’

    • There is the now old Indian Man’s vision from his youth, in his teens, who while standing on the shores of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula looking out at Lake Superior at night saw multiple meteors striking into Lake Superior (marching towards land?) in a vision … he was told that he would see that actually happen in real life before he died.

When he first posted that, which I think was about 15-20 years ago, he was already in his 60’s as best as I can recall, which would now put him at least into his early to mid 80’sn… IF he is still alive.

His vision resonated with me when I read it because of the Great Peshtigo Wisconsin fires of October 8, 1871. George has previously noted that the fire, the most devastating forest fire in American history which swept through northeast Wisconsin, claiming 1200+ lives, … BUT … the bigger story is that simultaneously (as within minutes) the Great Chicago Fire ALSO broke out as did massive forest fires in SE Michigan and in the West and NW of Michigan’s lower peninsula, AND reportedly in the then across much more sparsely populated Minnesota stretching from it’s middle to it’s NW multiple large forest fires also broke out.

WHY would all of those HUGE fires break out SIMULTANEOUSLY across nearly 1000 miles stretching from the SE of Michigan (with Chicago off to the SW side) to the NW of Minnesota most with multiple Flash Points (starting points)? (there were some reports of items falling from the sky at the time but they are sparce)

Meteor bombardment of the earth by multiple meteors at the same time is an item in historical paintings, both religious and non-religious.

      Just something to consider

  9. Stu- From what I gather, 32 hrs/week is currently the minimum for full time status and benefits. A part-time gig working two or three days a week at a decent rate can be helpful. At some point, earned income becomes a secondary source, with savings interest, SS and pension funds becoming primary. At that point, there is less reason to put money in tax deferred accounts. The reduced expenses from SS take out, 401K/IRA contributions and the upcoming SS tax breaks will make it a lot easier to get by without earned income, but having a side hustle doesn’t hurt. My plan is to work until 70 full time, but as you know, that isn’t always under Ure control. The bump in SS from age 66 and months to 70 is 25 – 26%, which is significant. That needs to figure in to choices. Good luck.
One other comment. There are less expensive ways for you to publish. You might think about maintaining a smaller presence with less historical info. I’m sure George has ideas on how to publish with minimum cash outflow.

    Reply
    • make sure you include what you’re not collecting for years by deferring to age 70. Ex: if someone can collect $2,200 a month at 65 and that jumps to $2,800 at 70. So $2,200*12 (months)*5(years)=$132,000 they would have received if they started to collect at 65. Waiting until 70 they get an extra $600 a month. For this illustration let’s average that up to $800 a month extra by waiting to 70. It would take them 165 months ($132,000/$800), 13.75 years, until they are 84 years old to get back to where they would have been if they started collecting at 65. These calcs ignore the time value of money too that the person could have earned on what they started collecting at 65. There’s a reason .gov tempts people to wait longer to collect. They hope you die before you break even. The actuary tables are on the casino’s side.

      • As you mention, there is a break even age; if you live longer, you come out ahead, if you live shorter, you don’t. I probably won’t have my SS ROI engraved on the
tombstone. I can work; therefore I am playing for the long game. I have positioned my employment to allow me to avoid the physical stress I was subjected to as a younger man. I have coworkers who have continued working into their eighties. I can’t see me working full time past 72 in any scenario.
The extra SS retirement income will be of significant benefit.

        Reply
        • you can collect at 65, 66, 67, etc and if you don’t need the money invest it, $25K a year at 10% for 3, 4, 5 years. take the yearly interest or convert to an annuity. if trump’s new tax plan goes the way i think you your SSI won’t be taxed because of your salary either. you have numbers to run. always run the numbers. always.

re: running numbers. i see so many people get drawn in by lower interest rates on their mortgage. i always advise people to not chase rates. you have to run the numbers – remaining interest on current loan v. interest on new loan. chasing rates gets you back to paying 99% interest and 1% principal.

      • While I was working I didn’t NEED the SS money so I waited until the latest I could start taking SS since in my older age I WILL need the money (if I live a longer life).

For me it wasn’t a “maximize the economic return” calculation but an insurance decision of buying insurance in the event I lived a longer life.

(I did start Medicare at 65, which has NO impact on your social security checks in the future, though YOU DO have to then pay the premiums directly every quarter – but those costs were only 25% of my existing private health insurance cost with MUCH better coverage – via an Advantage Plan – so who was I to complain?)

Now that am older and finally collecting I am glad I waited. Sure if I die before 84 the government will win the bet, but if I make it to my mid to late 80’s I WILL most likely NEED the money. (know a number of people in their 80’s now who think they screwed themselves for starting SS at 62 since their monthly benefits are only about 1/3 to 40% or so of those of their age who waited until 70)

  10. Obama started politicizing the Justice Department immediately after taking office, front-loading the agency with partisan political appointees that would prove to be the ‘gift that keeps on giving’ for the progressives after Barry left the White House. See: https://www.cato.org/commentary/obamas-weaponized-justice-department

And tangentially, several investigations independently concluded that Operation ‘Crossfire Hurricane’ should never have been launched. Of course, those supporting The Big O are inclined to think otherwise. See: https://edition.cnn.com/2023/05/15/politics/john-durham-report-fbi-trump-released

Making spurious accusations against The Donald, then providing progressive media hacks with their designated talking points continued long into the first Trump term. And now . . . it’s baaaack!

I’m not claiming Trump is totally innocent. No, I believe the office draws the most powerful into its flame, and the powerful are used to getting what they want. That includes women, or . . . who/whatever. Obama was not immune. Kennedy wasn’t. Trump certainly wasn’t. Just about every POTUS in U.S. history (save for ‘possibly’ bible thumping James Earl Carter) took advantage of the power their office gave them, especially with the opposite sex.

We’ve watched the political pendulum swing from the Bush Far Right to the Obama hard Left and then thru Slow-Joe’s arbitrary and muddled (but progressive) middle to Trump’s increasingly Far Right. ‘Tis the cycle of politics in ‘Merica.

But IMHO a very HUGE part of DOGE and Trumps ‘trimming’ of federal government jobs is the elimination of Obama’s most dangerous ‘hard core’ political appointees. Trump is ferreting out the (oppositiong?) partisan opponents in key D.C. agencies so that his last 3 years can ‘git ‘er done’ for those who voted for him.

Trump fully understands that in politics, nothing lasts forever, and that his measures will eventually be superseded and/or overwritten. Such is the nature of the beast (but I am not wise enough to see this ‘beast’ having Ten Heads!!!!! But one never knows!!!!)

They mean the opposite of what he thinks he is saying; and he cannot comprehend either the difference, or that they mean nothing at all. Between meaning that is false in fact and meaning that is non-credible to a friend or foe, Trump’s brain cannot discriminate; does not comprehend.

By Russian as well as Anglo-American neurological and psychiatric standards, this man is a certifiable maniac.

The strategic problem this poses for Russia’s military and political decision-makers, according to a source in a position to know, is that Trump’s mental disability is not that he is lying – he doesn’t aim to deceive. Rather, he is clinically incapable of understanding the logic, the evidence, the weight of options, and the sequence and consequence of actions. He cannot think; ergo, he cannot negotiate in good or even bad faith. He is, according to this Russian neurological diagnosis, a mentally incapacitated brain with only one reflex – the use of force to compel capitulation or effect destruction.”

The orange man is perhaps the greatest actor of the 21st century .
During first term thought he was an excellent Comedian. Comedy is tres difficult, hardest of them all.

Orange man is following a SCRIPT, he is ad- libbing like a MOFO..crazy like fox me thinks.

The true CRUX of the matta currently is, WHO IS BRENNAN, really?

      He created obongo – CREATED.

He lived with him in Chicago for awhile. His is NOT a Muslim, that is carefully crafted front/cover, he is an atheist of the hebrew faith.. a jew.

WHO is Brennans’ boss ? WHO is he working for ?

Figure out the WHO – and Youse will have SOLVED the Crimes of the current Century .

Personal maths/probability-odds orange gollum of greatness is Acting out a Script ? 55% Positive, 45% Negative..subject to CHANGE.

    • trump’s made up story about his uncle teaching the unabomber and trump’s imaginary conversation with his uncle about it. the really worrisome thing is that i’m not sure it’s a lie because trump actually believes it’s true. of course this barely makes the news because trump generates too much chaos for the media to cover.

    • No real choices at the polls. That’s the way the partisan gangs want it. And if they lose control of the narrative (as is now the case), they start a war against an unpopular patsy.
