We will know (for sure) tomorrow. But one thing seems clear: our models of the financial future are poised for a major decline in the next week or two.
Not that it will happen: No one knows the future. But money does call the tune, so should be amusing to see what the “bid is.”
A few headlines but the real work is in the ChartPack today. When in doubt? BrainAmp.

Do you believe in coincidences?? (copied from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia – Hoover foreign policy) “Tariffs and Protectionism: Hoover implemented protectionist policies, including signing the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act in 1930, which raised tariffs on imported goods. This move aimed to protect American industry but other countries retaliated and US exports plunged.”

Research shows that Wikipedia is prone to neutrality violations caused by bias from its editors, including systemic bias.[7][8] A comprehensive study conducted on ten different versions of Wikipedia revealed that disputes among editors predominantly arise on the subject of politics, encompassing politicians, political parties, political movements, and ideologies. These political topics accounted for approximately 25% of the disputes observed across all language versions studied.[9]”

“love the smell of libtard tears…” finding joy in the misery of others is no way to go through life, or run a democracy. if you’re feeling bad about the cards you’ve been dealt, enjoying the misery of others is probably part of the cause. look for misery and that’s what you’ll find. look for joy and that’s what you’ll find.
enjoying others misery? i don’t want to get within lifetime of that energy.

here is another one… search “civil service law 1936”. seems like history is repeating itself…
Typo leading to a third coincidence. Search civil service law 1933 and compare the results with today’s political direction in the U.S., then look at 1936 to see what the U.S. was trying to do. Scary stuff.
“Trump hate” could “bleed through” in the way of higher prices.”
An expression of “Trump love” would be opening a domestic operation to combat higher import prices. Have people in your circle been pooling capital to open any new operations anticipating tariffs? Of course not.
Business is business. Margin is 10% margin is 10%. Tariffs double wholesale cost, retail price doubles.
At this point in the game I see tariffs as a method to justify credit expansion. Tariffs won’t make GM stop rebadgeing Chinese cars in S. Korea for ‘final assembly’ stateside but all cars will cost more next year.
The quote “Those who fail to learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat it” is often attributed to George Santayana. It emphasizes the importance of learning from historical mistakes to avoid repeating them
The older I get the more I see the entire world operates on reruns. Even the small things.
There’s a downtown hotdog restaurant here in the D that’s closed again do to filth. Just a few years ago the same restaurant was closed do to filth. Here we are again. Why do the people continue to support a filthy restaurant? The need to be seen outweighs the filth?
The Western financial system ebbs and flows – crash/bang. So that’s going to repeat.
Native Americans got woofed up. Jews almost got woofed up. Palles got woofed up. There’s others.
All reruns.
Another is ‘may you live in interesting times’. The only two times there are is new and history making all times interesting.
Trump is not putting tariffs on goods from all sources, just the ones he needs concessions from.
I am a little puzzled by the Canadian tariff issues. My employer got burned several months back with a 25% tariff on manufactured goods sourced from Canada. So there was already some tariffs in place.
I had an interesting dream last night. I was living in a miscall neighborhood, and there were ongoing problems with gun violence coming in with perps from outside the neighborhood. Neighbors were starting to talk amongst themselves and coordinate defense. The dream was mid-level vivid, but not technicolor. I was interacting with neighbors with conversations. No dead people (I recognized) were in the dream. Still, it was very Ure-like.
“Miscall” should read “midscale”. The spelling chekster gone wild. Miscall is an interesting word which would work well in a discussion of MSM & officious utterances.
“I am a little puzzled by the Canadian tariff issues.”
What the low IQ crowd is missing, is Trump is not using tariffs like Hoover.
Mr. Hoover’s motivation was protectionism.
Mr. Trump’s motivation is negotiation. I don’t believe Trump intends to permanently anchor any tariff. Such would be self-defeating from both the perspectives of income generation and negotiation. He’s using the “tariff” as a force multiplier. As such, he HAD to slap tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China when he said he would, or the world would instantly believe that his threats are a paper tiger, and he’d lose the “tariff” as a tool (and a lot of his credibility.)
Note, Justin wet himself, then threatened Trump, so Trump included an incremental bump in the tariffs, to be applied, should Canada retaliate.
I think our tariff on Douglas Fir is silly; I think Canada’s tariff on SYP is silly, etc. I think the movement of fentanyl precursors across the border in either direction is both silly and stupid, and I’m not understanding why this would be a bone of contention with any Canadian pol. Now, while Biden was bringing 700,000 illegal alien invaders into the U.S. by chartered flight, he was also bringing 40-50 thousand illegal alien invaders into Canada, and Trudeau let him (go pull Monkey’s past flight charts if you don’t believe me.)
Both our countries are getting f*ed without lube, by someone, I should think Mr. Castreaux, er Clouseau, er Trudeau, should be as interested in getting the illegals, and the Chinese drug and secret police industries, out of his country as Mr. Trump is, getting them out of ours…
PARDON:
Been wondering about if Biden could “Pardon” someone who has not been convicted or even charged with a crime. Many law dictionaries have similar definitions and all (that I have read) discuss “Conviction” of a crime.
Here is a note of interest: Post Conviction Act – a pardon cannot be granted until the individual has been convicted in court.
Does this mean that Biden’s pardons are illegal? How about a link for further reading? https://legaldictionary.net/pardon/ or here https://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution-conan/article-2/section-2/clause-1/overview-of-pardon-power
Look around for actual/factual info.
Cheers
you’re being misinformed or ford’s pardon of nixon was also illegal. post conviction acts (state and fed) allow defendants one last bite at the apple to prove their innocence. it’s sort of like an appeal so yes, a defendant can’t appeal until after a conviction.
with scotus case cites. https://www.vox.com/criminal-justice/390060/biden-trump-pardon-power-supreme-court-enemies
Your article states “extends to every offense known”. What offense have these people been accused of?
I can’t find where they have been charged at all. No offense no pardon? Or how do you pardon someone who hasn’t been charged with a crime. Biden bogus BS!
“The power of pardon conferred by the Constitution upon the President is unlimited except in cases of impeachment. It extends to every offence known to the law, and may be exercised at any time after its commission, either before legal proceedings are taken or during their pendency, or after conviction and judgment. The power is not subject to legislative control.” Ex parte Garland, 71 U.S. 333, 334 (1866)
“known to the law” meaning if there is a law on the books a pardon may be granted. someone can’t be pardoned for something that isn’t a crime, like breathing. a pardon may be granted pre-emptively, same as ford granted to nixon. you may not like it. for now it’s settled law.
Truth I am not disagreeing with the President’s power of pardon. Reading the Law Dictionary it states “A pardon is a governmental decision to absolve an individual for a criminal conviction,”. Note Criminal Conviction.
It also states “Post Conviction Act – a pardon cannot be granted until the individual has been convicted in court.”
Show me where the people that Biden Pardoned (such as his brother, Facie, etc) where convicted of a crime or even accused of a crime.
I’m confused and have a question. How can you Pardon someone that has not been convicted?
Can someone give a common sense answer to the question of granting a pardon without a crime?
Cheers and Happy Hour

” Since we are due for a recession,”
One of my math research buddies has stated that a recession was not necessarily a part of the “future forecast”., as trillions of dollars are still – not in the market – and if those trillions start to flow in, they would stabilize the markets. However, the monies are not flowing into the stock/bond market as expected., since Trump won. With billions going into the digital world and billions into the precious metals markets – both of which are being pumped by Trump-ism.
Now with the Trump-Tariffs the piles of cash being held off-shore are in a waiting mode. The in-flow into the digital world has slowed – along with gold., and now stocks.
What will be Canada, Mexico and China response to the tariffs be ? 85% of all of Mexico’s agricultural products are sold in the U.S. Canada and Mexico are our two biggest trade partners. Mexico is a huge trade partner, but is also the bane of our existence., with massive illegal cross-border invasion – which Mexico has not stopped and in-fact, encouraged – and drug trafficking – which they have not / can not stop. Tariffs on Mexico could simply be leverage to get them to stop the hoards and the drug flow.
We buy roughly $500 billion in goods from China., and China buys roughly $150 billion of our stuff. [ annually] Very lopsided trade imbalance. If China decides to turn off that flow – we will drop into a recession, very fast. China could possibly get the majority of ‘stuff’ they are buying from us, “elsewhere”. We would lose that trade war, as we are far too dependent on China.
My math partner believes that we could have possibly held-off a recession – maybe – but the tariffs will exacerbate our problems and disrupt the economic climate.
He believes that it won’t take much to trigger a recession now and a large-percentage drop in the markets should follow.
[ Does he believe what he is saying? He also stated that he just spent slightly over $3,500 on freeze dried foods and a new pressure caner. Putting his money where his mouth has gone.]
– Note: I did not check his cash-flow statements., as he is usually pretty reliable in that arena as he checks multiple [ some weird ] sources before forming a conclusion.
.

my concern is..how much will crackers go up… that bakeries in Chicago and new York were closed..the bakeries now are outside the usa in mexico..
that’s why cookies that one family member likes in the snack packs .. costs two dollars a cookie… lol I can only imagine what they will be now..lol
the chocolate muffins that Wal-Mart use to stock during covid were discontinued because they to were all made outside the usa then frozen and shipped my grandson lived those..
Sounds like the cartel mules will be carrying duffels full of individual packed cookies across the Rio Grande shortly. Psst- wanna buy some primo chocolate chip cookies ?
Steevos Simplistic theory of everything.
The economy gets to the point where the only manufacturing or service endeavor that can be created can that can be profitable at the margins sought after by Wall Street due to money printer gone Brrr….. is what?
[Select] Crypto will be used to reset the financial system. You are watching the tear down now. I expect with a spike of 2MM Gubmint worker not returning to the office, one helluva economic dip is in store.
With tariffs arriving right on time for Clif Highs call on [paraphrasing] the Eye Are. Es complaining that tax money that was expected wasnt receieved. Isnt the universe wonderfull with a double entrendre of you home gamers thinking that it was the citizens that werent going to pay. Nerp OO Tarrifs as tax reciepts paying ofr everything. A Perfect Storm.
Long story short Got Blockchain?
“If China decides to turn off that flow – we will drop into a recession, very fast.”
Probably, unless we have established alternative goods streams. It will still slug us, because Brazil, Pakistan, and Vietnam can’t make up the difference, but they can buffer it, somewhat.
“China could possibly get the majority of ‘stuff’ they are buying from us, “elsewhere”.
That’s not the issue. They can replace our goods. What they can not replace is our market. If we stop buying, they suddenly have a billion unemployed “employees” and an unimaginable product glut & warehousing issue. Ford and GM STILL have multiple 80-acre farm fields full of M.Y.-2020 pickup trucks. They can’t sell them. They can’t even give them away. Now, imagine a nation the size of CONUS, with 100,000,000 factories and a workforce of 1.08 billion laborers, and imagine the market for 40% of all that production goes away overnight.
“We would lose that trade war, as we are far too dependent on China.”
No, because China is far more dependent on our market than we are, China’s manufacturing, except for niche products (like massive power transformers, which are ONLY made by ABB, in China…) China owns an awful lot of stuff but it doesn’t own many “essential industries” (like Taiwan Semiconductor) — at least not yet.
WE can replace their market. They can NOT replace our custom…
Well, former central banker and economist Mark Carney has been floated as a possible leader of the Canadian Liberals after the resignation of Justin Trudeau. His previous post was as the Governor of the Bank of England. Not someone to engage in economic warfare with.
“Not someone to engage in economic warfare with.”
Of course he is. He’d be starting out with three strikes:
1) He’s an ex “central banker”
2) He’s a Liberal (meaning Leftist or WEF) “economist”
3) He’s almost certainly a Keynesian
Oh, and “4,” the Liberals have wrecked Canada for so many years in a row that there’s virtually no chance they’ll be the Party in-power after the elections…
Trudeau is throwing a temper tantrum because he’s okay with the, almost 1300 terrorists he allowed into the United States (of which we know, so far.) Slamming the door on this trash is what this tariff is all about.
Trump is trying to force Trudeau to “do the right thing,” nothing more, nothing less.
Trudeau is bound and determined to be an immoral, international criminal, because his name and political position protect him from judgement for his actions.
I suggest you choose carefully, for whom you wish to be a fangirl…
RE: Collision between helicopter and AA passenger jet in DC
Jim Stone’s (investigative journalist) website presents compelling new videos about the collision and the claimed identity of one of the helicopter crew members.
https://www.voterig.com/.ue1.html
Joe Ellis, the transgender Virginia National Guard member supposedly part of the crew of the helicopter, posted a video of himself after the collision showing him alive and well and claiming that there were no Virginia National Guard members on the flight.
A new video (perpendicular to the flight path of the helicopter) shows the helicopter tracking (aiming) toward the AA jet for many seconds prior to the collision. The AA jet appears to initiate some evasive maneuver just prior to the collision.
Jim Stone also claims that the helicopter was not a military Blackhawk but one configured for PAT (Personnel Air Transport) of dignitaries around the DC area. The helicopter designation PAT-25 seems to confirm this fact.
Jim posits there is evidence that the helicopter was on a CIA assassination mission (and being flown remotely) targeting a person or persons on the helicopter or on the AA jet.
Gaslighting and misdirection seems to be coming from all news outlets and agencies supposedly reporting on this tragedy.
At this point, who knows what to believe. However, I’m sure the final story (narrative) will eliminate any possibility of a conspiracy (or intelligence agency complicity) in what transpired.
The rendition I’ve heard is that there were high ranking military officials who were killed in Ukraine but it would have been embarrassing to admit and identify. The copter was being flown remotely and the corpses of the military personnel were on board – hence the crash killed them…..
Not sure America realizes that America is the entity paying the tariffs. Not the other countries!
and rest assured those American Co’s not affected by the tariffs will still raise the price of their goods anyway….
This is true, but totally optional.
Nobody is forced to buy a foreign made product (tariff) or even a domestic made product (excises). The choice is the consumer’s.
If you wish to avoid the tax keep your money and/or buy something else.
I the case of tariff buy a domestic made product.
Also, in the case of the targeted tariffs of DJT’s first term, the Chinese response was to lower to value of their currency to offset the tariff. The tariffs which applied to steel, aluminum and some pharmaceuticals were offset. But the shiploads of cheap goods destined for Walmart were dropped in price, this importing DEFLATION by the boatload. This is how the inflation rates were held to below 2% while running deficits.
This is why I remember the 3+years of $1.60-$1.80 gas and $0.97 milk and $0.84 bread at the Walmart grocery so fondly. The guy knows how to play the game better than most.
I do find it interesting that the Army is withholding the name of the female Captain – pilot of the Blackhawk. [ for now, anyway ]
.
Can’t put my finger on ‘why’.
By request of the family – doesn’t quite cut it.
But it seems to be making things worse by firing-up all these stupid and inane conspiracy theories and finger-pointing.
Just chill a bit – we’ll find out soon enough.
Trump probably got the straight stuff immediately that’s why he suggested DEI out loud.
Trump did not suggest “DEI.”
Trump stated that it was possible DEI hires had reached control towers, because the Biden Administration both put out “fishing PSAs” starting in 2022, for “African Americans, Latinx Americans, and Native Americans” to apply to become ATCs, and then it had the FAA lower the standards so the aforementioned could “qualify.”
The lamestreamers “tweaked” the reporting of Trump’s comments to make it sound like he was accusing the tower personnel at DCA of being DEI hires.
Go pull a timestamped quote and see for yourselves…
And quit getting your news from “the news.” They have an agenda, no part of which involves either honesty or the betterment of the United States or anyone living here that’s not one of “them or theirs.”
This should snuff out the conspiracy contagion:
https://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/incidents/female-soldier-in-doomed-black-hawk-helicopter-in-us-crash-named/news-story/a4e11fc599c30ee7b090b74cb1463914
Posted here in Australia but not even up on CNN yet.
“A female pilot: The second pilot, whose name has not been publicly disclosed at the request of her family, was undergoing her annual night evaluation flight at the time of the accident. ”
I’m guessing she didn’t pass the evaluation, and won’t be flying again.
g, your whatfinger fear mongering article (97% of deportations were Biden’s unenforced orders) missed some facts:
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/latino/ice-trump-deportations-numbers-rcna188937
‘Immigration authorities made close to 1,200 arrests in just one day, and nearly half of those detained don’t have criminal records, according to a senior Trump administration official.’
https://www.aa.com.tr/en/americas/-returner-in-chief-biden-era-deportations-surpass-trump-s-first-term-totals/3464602
‘US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) statistics show Biden oversaw 1.3 million more deportations during his first two years in office than Trump achieved during his entire first term. Obama also deported 30,000 more than Trump during his first four years.’
https://www.newsweek.com/mass-deportations-could-cause-wage-increases-five-states-2022942
Trump’s plan could make things much worse:
A report from the Joint Economic Committee from late last year found Trump’s mass deportation plans would reduce real gross domestic product by as much as 7.4 percent and push prices up 9.1 percent higher by 2028.
Tariffs are still new but a Clinton News Network link on tariffs below. But you know that Leftist media source. They could be lying, irrationally hating on Trump. Ha! That said,
“a 25% duty on all imports from Mexico and most goods from Canada (there’s a 10% carve-out for energy-related items such as crude oil)”
“Mexico is the largest supplier of fruit and vegetables to the US, while Canada leads in exports of grain, livestock and meats, poultry and more. ”
“With little room to absorb higher tariff costs, the grocers may have to pass them on to shoppers.”
Bug protein stocks may be ready to go, eh?
“If a president pardons someone for federal fraud, they cannot plead the Fifth to avoid testifying about that fraud in court or before Congress. However, if testifying about the fraud might expose them to state charges or new, unrelated crimes, they can still invoke the Fifth Amendment.”
Correct — Taking the 5th after a pardon would be “read” by everyone with a pulse and an ounce of fairness as an admission of guilt for some, as yet undiscovered or unnamed, other crime. It should spur an honest DoJ into action to discover the unknown crime. The other things testifying after a pardon would do are establishing probable cause for investigation of an, as yet unnamed, 3rd party, or establishing grounds for a perjury charge & conviction.
