PowerBall Late, Now What? NFIB Data

This being Election Day, we’re taking the unusual move of not talking about anything on the ballot – of is pretended to be so damn urgent that you have to vote for one clown, or another, who can’t change the Law of the Land single-handed, anyway.

Have fun with that.

We don’t know which one of us is a Billionaire, yet: Powerball draw for record $1.9 billion jackpot delayed.

As of 6:50 AM this morning, this is what the PowerBall site looked like:

PowerBall servers were straining under the demand as the morning moved along.

Used to be that I trusted PowerBall more than the government… Today it’s a dead heat. Seems an odd synch-wink from Universe that the Lotto and Elections all get sketchy at the same time under a blood moon…

‘Beaver blood moon’ offers last total lunar eclipse until 2025.

Around here, the reality is “living a month or two ahead” and out there, seems to be a recession forming up.

Recession, You Say?

As of the close of markets Monday, our ongoing comparison of the 1929 market collapse and the current phase of market action here in “modern times” looked like this:

Too be sure, it would have been graceful if the market had gotten into a more worrisome position last week, but the presence of the just-completed Blood Moon is still swirling.  There’s a reason the term “lunacy” and “lunatics” survives.  Any street cop or ER staff in hospital will tell you full moon brings out the craziest of people.

Which is why an election on such a day is a treat.  People show their “true colors” under such conditions.

A Foreshadow?

George 2 (my son) has been out of state working on a project for one of the biggest of the high-tech companies.  Before he took off for the assignment in late April, I told him the odds would be good of Recession arriving in Q3/Q4 and building into 2023.

Overnight, our Houston Bureau Chief sent along a link to what smells to us like a long shadow of what’s to come:

Top Office Developers Hit the Pause Button on New Projects.

The wake of the “plandemic” has left American business in a bit of a state:  Going back to work means HR Departments and senior Managers can “control and direct” more closely (breathing down employee’s necks).  But people can – when interested in the work – do much better (and more) work from the Home Office.

In the 1980s, when us “old geezers of tech” were grinding out foundations for the modern mess, we espoused the virtues and cost-savings of “telecommuting.”  Employers, though, being control freaks mainly, wouldn’t hear of it.

So, a generation and a half of “dead wood” came up in business.

A Reader of our is a world-class large projects HVAC engineering fellow.  Used to be a partner in a multi-person firm.  For him, he gets a lot more work done (and makes more money) being at home.  Digital files have tamed work once done with pens, paper, blueprints and mountains of paper.

Information sharing – which is what happens more and more in big business – eats time like crazy.  Lean and mean one-man shops are da bomb.

What’s evolving is tomorrow’s topic in our Peoplenomics report.  “American Deadwood.”

And it will come to the fore shortly as not only are developers going slow on new square footages, but revenue per employee for outfits like Meta are about to roost.

The “lean and mean” style of business (Musk) is coming back.  As it does so, the stories are popping: Elon Musk ‘discusses putting Twitter behind paywall’ after layoffs and threats to ban users from impersonating others.  It will be an interesting counterpoint to Meta‘s cut announcements.

As The Economist calls it: From Twitter to Meta, tech lay-offs are spreading.  We told you it would be along.

NFIB

National Federation of Independent Business report just out confirms this direction:

“Inflation continues on Main Street with 33% reporting it’s their most important problem

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Nov. 8, 2022) – NFIB’s Small Business Optimism Index declined 0.8 points in October to 91.3, which is the 10th consecutive month below the 49-year average of 98. Thirty-three percent of owners reported that inflation was their single most important problem in operating their business, three points higher than September’s reading and four points lower than July’s highest reading since the fourth quarter of 1979.

“Owners continue to show a dismal view about future sales growth and business conditions, but are still looking to hire new workers,” said NFIB Chief Economist Bill Dunkelberg. “Inflation, supply chain disruptions, and labor shortages continue to limit the ability of many small businesses to meet the demand for their products and services.”

Key findings list found us zeroing in on this outlook in particular:

  • The net percent of owners who expect real sales to be higher decreased three points from September to a net negative 13%.

We’ll jump into numbers in the PN report, but let’s just say that as business trims deadwood, pious luxury delusions (woke, equity officers, excess time off) are all likely to stand for review when owners start to eye personal net-outs.

(See how nice the morning is without all that political BS roiling the blood pressure higher?)

Everything Else

The government/corporate controlled media will be hard selling the term “red mirage” in returns.  Doing their damnedest to seed distrust in the outcomes. Swear to God, it’s like the left has a distro wire that sends out the “daily bash” of sensible Americans.  “red mirage” went out last night, looks like.

Here’s a Duck-Duck search of “red mirage” seeding voters to react in a particular way…

The daily War Whine:  Ukraine accuses Russia of looting Kherson as battle looms.  Still, it is a war, after all.  They were expecting crumpets and bubbly?  It’s a WAR for God’s sake.

Cheesey business headline of the day award goes to?  Coty quarterly results beat estimates as beauty demand sits pretty | Nasdaq.

Advanced Statistics Class.  Please open your papers to The Worldwide Oriented Strand Board Industry is Projected to Reach $44.3 Billion by 2030.  Compound 8 percent inflation out eight years is how much of an increase over today? 85 percent above today!  Which gets to our point that with enough inflation, it’s impossible to book a recession on a current dollar basis.

To market, to market…  Dow futures were up 80 with 80 minutes to the opening.

ATR (Around the Ranch)

We’re off to breakfast and then vote.  I know – it only encourages them!

Still, better a bit player in the kabuki than complaining from the audience.

  2. “Used to be that I trusted PowerBall more than the government…”

LOL LOL LOL LOL.. and I have thought a lot about getting one of those big checks.. saying I won the lottery .. ($4.00 ) winner LOL then post the photo of someone handing me the check on FB LOL LOL just how many people would really see the four dollars.. they would see the big lotto winner LOL LOL LOL…

LOL

  3. “The government/corporate controlled media will be hard selling the term “red mirage” in returns.”

This is another observation that supports my theory that the media is not independent. Hard work is done to give the appearance of independent media companies all coming to the same conclusion, but the fact that terms like ‘red mirage’ show up across the spectrum of media on the same day discredits that idea. The term ‘red mirage’ came from a single source to be used for psychological effects across a wide spectrum for maximum result.

Who has their hand on those levers? I bet it’s not the Great and Powerful Oz.

    • I remember the term “gravitas” when W was running. I don’t recall ever hearing the word, until every media outlook were declaring W didn’t have it. Rush made some hilarious clips pointing out the obvious point they were colluding in their analysis.

    • “Who has their hand on those levers? I bet it’s not the Great and Powerful Oz.”

      Nope.

That’d be Susan Rice’s boss’ boss.

  4. there I was this morning looking at a cloud filled sky, blocking me view of the Blood Moon, darn it. Came back in and looked at Zero Hedge and saw a dark CLOUD blood bath in the “The Funeral Business Is Booming (And Not Because Of COVID)”,,,
    non dare say vaccine,,,
“Unsurprisingly, Ryan did not mention mRNA vaccines anywhere. Why would he? Doing so would only make for headaches he and Service Corporation do not need.”
    https://www.zerohedge.com/medical/funeral-business-booming-and-not-because-covid.

I AM blessed to be stubborn and cursed to be stubborn as I did not follow ure trading method of dumping a stock when it goes red in value and limiting lost $ on DWAC, but got back a good size of my paper loss yesterday. It ain’t a loss until I sell. My phy slv should arrive today, I keep adding a little at a time as I can.

Red mirage and telling US it will take several days to (create) count the votes. Blame it on the snail mail USPS. And the little fishes suck it up like it is the Truth, baited hooks.
They FEAR the RED Tsunami, ole brother Darrell has been seeing for, Quite some time now.
2020 hurt alot, but I AM beginning to see that the people needed to be brought to the edge to see the danger ahead/below. Do we as a people back away from the danger or do a Thelma and Louise and let them drive US into the abyss? Lemings go over, but I AM stubborn.
People do not realize the power of the masses, but the controllers do.
RED PILL/BLUE PILL the choice is yours,,, so Morpheus says.

    • “RED PILL/BLUE PILL the choice is yours,,, so Morpheus says.” Or take them both at the same time and get purple! Wonder how that goes over in the Matrix?

  5. Free money is money.

A beneficiary to a life insurance policy doesn’t legally have to pay for a funeral. The money is rightfully the beneficiaries to spend how they please. If the beneficiary happened to ‘cover the costs’ of funeral services for a COVID casualty they may be able to get reimbursed.

    COVID-19 Funeral Assistance

You may qualify for up to $9,000 per funeral for expenses.

You must provide FEMA a copy of an official death certificate that shows the death occurred in the United States, including U.S. territories and the District of Columbia, occurred after January 20, 2020, and was attributed to COVID-19.

    https://www.fema.gov/disaster/coronavirus/economic/funeral-assistance

    • “A beneficiary to a life insurance policy doesn’t legally have to pay for a funeral. The money is rightfully the beneficiaries to spend how they please.”

that actually happened to a friend of mine.. he passed on.. ( tried working the kind of schedule I did.. and died of a heart attack in his sleep) his father got the money and refused to pay for his funeral.. his wife had to take up a collection plate to get enough to pay for it.. if your an hourly wage earner.. then don’t put a will out for anyone.. after the medical industry is through with you.. they take it all.. if your in a nursing home .. before you get on assistance.. ( it is a quarter mill a year per person to stay in long term facility) you can pre pay for a funeral.. I am told that today you can keep two hundred of your SS funds per month for medical costs and personal costs..

      • DIY – in the back yard LOOB. That way you will alwayz be around to look in on the ungrateful bastards partying on Ure funeral and unrecorded death cert = continued SS bennies for family!
belly up to the trough and shove schmear & pigloser et al over and take a big long drink of “Fentifed” 4 Ure own dam self!

      • I do believe that there’s a case to be made for offing one’s self if condemned to a hospital or nursing home. While I don’t have any intention of doing so as long as I’m autonomous, the thought of being imprisoned in any cage with a bunch of controllers, no matter how kind, is horrifying. I would never allow such a thing if I had control of it. The medical industry makes something like 80% of its money from the final days of life. Better to die a bit sooner by choice and let your loved ones inherit something of value.

    • Estimated jackpot now $2,300,000,000.

That might be enough to buy POTUS as the “regular guy/gal” candidate.

    • Seems California was the state with irregularities and what do ya know…California has the winning ticket for the entire prize.

Show me the time stamp on that ticket!!!

  6. “There’s a reason the term “lunacy” and “lunatics” survives. Any street cop or ER staff in hospital will tell you full moon brings out the craziest of people.”

LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL… that is the truth.. had one guy come into a seven eleven type store every full moon he would take a can of dog food put it on one of the microwave pizzas then eat it.. LOL LOL.. crime.. same thing…. in the hospital.. there are more spousal abuses and more crime victims etc.. all around the full moon.. we use to self schedule.. and I always carried a lunar calendar..

    • Oh sundowners patients are overy active and so are those with Alzheimer’s.. if it is going to happen that is when it happens..

  7. This just in….a”deal” was done!

“what deal is this o magnificent one ?”
a clue then, as to which game exactly, is afoot.

only currency to to increase in value vs USD in the last 8 months ?

..all Pooterz has to do is hang on with minimal Russian bloodshed until repugnicans take back control of both houses..done soonly enough.

some joker cards still in “deck”.. brit isles go boom? cali crushed, turdturegon exits stage left..

The USA oligopoly has a deal in place..DC orange in 2024, olaf sausage goes down, macaroon to soon follow, as illuminati/rothchild global financial control becomes undone – globalisms’ puppets(satanists) bout to be extinguished for good.

Off to the surgeons suite tomorrow for Cervical Discotomy and Fusion (ACDF) surgery. 2 disks = 2 bone grafts& 2 plates..ouch!

..think donors energy still residing on/in bone graft”
Will I be the same amazingly wonderful, brilliant, kind, warm and generous person after procedure & overnight stay in Hosp. as I am now ?
Let you know the outcome, as recovery allows.
Just saying no to transfusions, if you have maintained Ure Human blood purity ..notice who the all the folks getting sick with cold/flu/rsv are ???

“shot through the arm, and Ure to blame, you give mrna a bad name”. john bon jersey

    • Insurance nixed the procedure last minute. Ins Co. said they could not process in time for a Surgery 11/9/22.

During a 2nd opinion visit to another spine surgeon – that surgeon discovered a bad/incorrect reading of certain areas/segments of cervical spine by previous in-house Radiologist, from MRI study done at another medical center, which was indicated in xrays taken day of 2nd opinion visit.
Surgeon had a cancellation for 11/9/22 – and I am out of country mid December(snowbirding), and need minimum 4 week recovery, so I took that surgical slot.
One more week, will post costs associated with diagnosis and treatment – as have a high deductible health ins. plan this year..just hit the deductible..now Ins pays 80%

  8. Cops and other first responders are people too you know. They can show their stuff during a full moon as well as anyone. They used to call us, er I mean them, Broken Toys back in the day. A term I also heard used last week on a show the wife got me to watch on Friday evenings. That makes 3 shows I’ll waste time in front of the boob tube on once Blacklist returns.

    Stay safe.

    • My son says if he hadn’t found emergency medicine, he was on his way to becoming Raymond.
I keep telling him “Write your book” – makes my life look tame in comparison…

  9. It has been stated several times that there could be an across-the-board rally if Republicans win big today.., looks like they have already started.., I didn’t see the rally coming yesterday, or this morning, but there it is – the Dow is up over 800 points in two day with nothing but bad news all around. “Buy the rumor – Sell the fact.” seems to be in-play here.

  10. Lets say that there will be 150 million total voters in the midterm elections. Why is it, that it “may take days” to tabulate the election results in some areas? When in comparison, the NYSE may process over $200 billion dollars in trades every day, yet if I make a trade, buy or sell, my transactions are tabulated and my accounts are reconciled within seconds of the closing bell?

  11. What’s the difference between “red Mirage and the GOP’s Big Lie of a crooked 2020 election? Both are intended to sew doubt on the integrity of our democracy. Both are false and an abhorrent abuse of power. Our election process…defined as the actual voting and counting of votes is the most secure on this planet. It’s the rhetoric leading up to and unfounded accusations after the fact that are crooked and unconstitutional.

    • Since Biden and the Dems have been complaining about Trump 2020 election deniers for the past years, I am sure they will set a fine example this year by agreeing that the 2022 midterm voting and vote counting were the most secure on the planet and duly reflected the will of the people.

I am tempted to watch MSNBC tonight to see how many times Joy Reid uses the word racist and fascist. Does anyone have the Vegas over/under odds?

    • Mark, we’re supposed to have a Republic, not a democracy(mob rule), if we can keep it. What we have on the surface is an Oligarchy, yet what really runs the show is the Bureaucracy, and they’re generally permanent and not even elected. Reducing the bureaucracy has almost never happened.

Voting changes the flavor of control, but rarely reduces it. Voting requires a buy-in to the system, and that’s why it’s strongly encouraged for all, regardless of how they vote.

    • Mark, you’re regurgitating the same blather you were posting back during and after the last election – right after you threw your weight in with the Lincoln Project that did its best to undermine that election. And, yes, as Mike has to point out for the jillionth time to the low information people out there, we’re a REPUBLIC.

    • Mark
Please define Democracy vs Republic of the United States. If you are unable to tell the difference then a High School Grad will have to do it for you. Please reply with your best.

    • 104% of legal voters voted, yet you claim “Big Lie?”

I’ve given you the numbers at least twice… ‘Still waiting for you to explain the discrepancy…

” It’s the rhetoric leading up to and unfounded accusations after the fact that are crooked and unconstitutional.”

When asked a few weeks ago about whether she still denied the integrity and result of the 2020 Presidential Election, Kari Lake played a montage of (I believe it was) 102 Democrats, from Hillary to Stacy Abrams, making accusations of wrongdoing and “election denial.”

I know you missed it, because you get your news by having Leftist drivel force-fed you, and the Leftist/communist media lost their minds and pulled the tape, when she did this, but you should search it out. It is one of the funniest moments in any campaign, for any elected office, anywhere.

BTW, NOT “unconstitutional,” at least not until your buds at the Lincoln Project have the First Amendment thrown out…

      • Ray…show me the proof. 100% of secretaries of states and state AG’s, say it was a fair election with little to no anomalous voting data. And please, do not insult us with references from, or alt right conspiracy sites

      • @Mark

        “Ray…show me the proof.”

I have, twice, on this forum alone, and demonstrated the same facts for others, many times, elsewhere. As patient as I am, I do tire eventually of people whose reading comprehension suffers from blatant bias or lack of caffeine. You’ve got to be at least a bit of a numbers guy. Find your own damn’ proof.

        Start here:

        and here’s your hint:

        https://urbansurvival.com/heres-when-the-ukr-war-ends-housing-data/#comment-139644

If you want actual numbers you can back-search me, or I hear there’s this thing called a “search engine” which you might be able to use, to locate accurate hard numbers, elsewhere.

      • “I have, twice, on this forum alone, and demonstrated the same facts for others, many times, elsewhere.”

When you find the numbers, try plugging them into this equation:

total number of people in the United States
        – (total number of people who are not Citizens + total number of children who will not have attained the age of 18 before 11/4/20 + total number of convicted felons, past and present)
        ___________________________________________
= total possible number of eligible voters

    • yep, you’re right, D n R working together to defraud the world…D n R = Do Not Resuscitate them. Most on both “sides” need to be treasoned. While only two choices are typically provided, we always have a third choice, a third way to go.

  12. streetz report G,

    – no, not weed on the street corner from local dealer, like old days of UrbSurv, dispensaries killed that business model.

Voting in the red state of Pennsyltucky – red wave is breaking in Ure face, war mongering demonrats.
I was “working” the local poll workers in East Brandywine Twp, PA polling location (church), said they had already far exceeded Totals Expected by 10:30 AM (EasternCorrectTime). Should bode well for Repugnicans, the other side of a very tarnished and dirty diabolical coin.

  13. Re: United Front feat. CCP

    Comrades,

Today of all days, Canada’s “Global News” network has reported on alleged Chinese interference in the 2019 federal election. Eleven unnamed candidates of both main parties apparently had their campaigns touched by money and staff expertise funneled through the Chinese embassy in Toronto.

As an aside, a new Donner Lake lithium mine near here which was ramping up to supply Mr. Xi’s closeby processing operation was shut down last week. It had long had provincial looking-the-other-way permissions, but the federal government has paused the operation.

    • Re: “Powerball Late”

Is Mr. Musk a Powerball player? The BBC business reporter is repeating Mr. Musk’s tweeted contention that Twitter is losing $4million per day. It brings to mind in comparison the collapse a couple of weeks back by digital payment processor Fast. Msm alleged at the end the formerly $90+billion company was losing $10million per month while only bringing in $50,000 per month in sales.

Let’s join DJ Ure in studio with a tuneful plug for the kitchen sink feat. Burl Ives –

  14. From reports today around the USA,it appears that the Democrats are once again going Full Johnny Rocco.

The delay in the Powerball was to ensure that Biden first got his 10 per cent.

  15. On remote workers, its perfectly fine to have folks over seas in various countries accessing back office systems and generating work product remotely, dropping it into [ pick your favorite flavor of file drop software], and calling it a day. Problem with C suite is that this same group owns the gas stations, toll plazas, food service industries [Biz Lunch anyone?], uniform services, building security, cleaning services, maintenance, utilities etc. etc… getting the picture? While its saving a sh1t ton of money to work from home its:

1)Not generating revenue for the aforementioned aparatchiks.
2)Saving trillions of tons of greenhouse gas emissions from not having to
    drive to work.
    3) No way for C suite to monetize the carbon credits and offsets that this

    5) Its ok to generate all that extra green house gas loading of the

of the aforementioned collapsing money pools that the C suite’s list in
    their portfolio of holdings.

I have voted ‘abstain’. Popcorn hulls are bad for my damaged colon, so I will have to settle for a pizza party to watch the ‘red mirage’ turn into a red bloodbath.

  18. The trading day ended with a lot of charts showing bearish divergence in or into supply boxes. If price does not rally quickly and far over the next day or so then we could see a reversal in the cards.

  19. they reckon dont get excited .. i say toooooott toooot !!!!!!!!!! chugging baby !!!!!!!!!!!! thanks WD and all the late great gold bulls !!!! and gurus and curse throwers you can go and f yourself

  20. Watching for a reversal short today (wed after the election). (Posting this at 3:45 eastern time Wed morning.)
