Over on Peoplenomics this morning, we’re earning the subscription fee the hard way. We start with the News Compressor and four things that actually matter: Gulf energy flows, Trump-Xi and Taiwan, the newest Russia/Ukraine wrinkle, and the accelerating AI/compute race. Then there’s today’s ChartPack, because markets don’t particularly care about anybody’s political opinions when it’s time to settle the trades.
Then we’re dropping something completely different and exclusiv
e: The Good War — my newest strategic-fiction novel — complete for subscribers today, along with a roughly one-hour abridged audio version in two MP3s. It’s the story that grew out of reader Andy’s oceanographic adventures in the Pacific this summer but it goes sideways into strategic fiction, and ends with an early reviewer telling me, “This is the single most compelling science fiction I’ve read in several decades. Get it published, please, George.”
So PN readers get it before the rest of the world does.
But today’s main course may be the most important. What happens when AI gets the equivalent of a radio license? We’re digging into the coming collision between AI, privacy, government regulation and your right to think with a machine without somebody standing behind the keyboard taking notes. And I think I’ve landed on a surprisingly simple framework: license the transmitter, not the listener — regulate harmful actions, not private thought. That’s today’s Peoplenomics. Forty bucks a year, and today alone there’s enough reading and listening to wreck most of your morning.

Hearing aids…..ok..after everyone cajoling and complaining.. I got my hearing aids out…seems they don’t enjoy my finishing their sentences before they do.. I just needed th STFU and not interupt..due to my hearing loss I tend to control the conversations.. I’m Bad.I truly don’t intend to be rude..my brain is trying to keep up with missing audio…. so.. I got the hearing aids out of the drawer.. for television I always used one of these …( love it..for the regular drool I don’t need it but the truly exciting shows its an absolute game changer…)
https://www.amazon.com/Williams-Sound-PKT-D1-0-Accommodates/dp/B005IYDLCW
great item …headphones work wonderful…
anyway back to the hearing aids..I needed to change the tubes..I had two choices..change them myself or..take them in and pay a fortune to get them changed..I decided..ill change them..on the side with the tube pointing away from you on the very end..theres a king pin lock…taking a needle push in on the pin..it will slide about about an with inch.. unplug then replug in the new tube…
https://www.amazon.com/Wire-Phonak-Hearing-Receiver-Right/dp/B0DS6M3FLG/ref=sr_1_19?
that’s the newer standard tube.. right red left blue..not sure if there’s really any other distinction other than the color..
there’s actually three models of tubes..one just slips on one older model with two pins and the newer one with three pins..search the model number to get the right tubes..
now..one of the hearing aids wouldn’t charge.. internal battery..oh my god what do you do…another huge cost..
nope..its micro security basically makes this a mini computer..first clean all contacts with a cotton swab with alcohol on it..
then on the volume control.. press down for fifteen to twenty seconds..this resets it and basically gives it a hard reset..let it sit on the counter 1 minute then put it back in the charger
If it doesn’t after a few seconds..then it needs to go back in..get firmware updates etc..
1/8th inch..
What did you say?

Thanks Len. Filled vehicles & cans with petrol. Generator tested & starts on first pull. Hurricane Watch now posted for Big Island. Storm name now ‘NOLO’. (as in “nolo contendre”, the legal plea that Spiro Agnew used, figuring nobody would know that it means ‘no contest’)
This storm threatens to be worse than LALA was. Folks on the south side still have not recovered from the floods there, and the highway is not yet fully repaired. Pahala and Naalehu villages don’t need more floods… but it’s coming.
Hawaiian Electric sent all the Big Island pole trucks to Kauai to assist the cooperative there with storm repairs, now 95% of Kauai has electricity again. But the trucks are there, and Big Island has another nasty hurricane threatening to take out the power grid here again. Never a dull moment.
Have high frequency hearing loss, normal as one ages, so before my GREAT Medicare Advantage Plan went away at the end of last year (they cancelled out ALL of 300,000 us in the state) I went in to get fitted with nice hearing aids on their nickle knowing that they could be reprogrammed later as my hearing deteriorated. (my new plan was not going to be as generous)
So … I now possess some very nice hearing aids but except for very noisy environment (bar or noisy restaurant setting) I don’t need them (yet) for everyday work or conversations. I have made the vow to myself though that once I start having a hard time hearing everyday talk I WILL wear them since it drives me batty when people refuse to wear hearing aids (that usually they already have) and you have to really crank up your talk volume to have a conversation with them.
If medical science makes it EASY for you to live a better quality life as you age WHY would you refuse to take advantage of that? (see that not just with hearing aids but with people who won’t go in for cataract surgery) Just admit it to yourself … you are NOT 25, or even 35, anymore!!
(“I now possess some very nice hearing aids but except for very noisy environment (bar or noisy restaurant setting) I don’t need them (yet) for everyday work or conversations.”)
that was my point exactly…… and in a noisy environment I could hear everything …
er…WHAT?>
(“U.S. air-traffic infrastructure: Monday’s severed fiber plus failed backup switch disrupted roughly 9,500 flights, and Washington now says the replacement ATC network will remove such single- and dual-point telecom failures. This is a useful infrastructure lesson: redundancy that shares a failure domain isn’t redundancy. Remediation accelerating.”)
and yet…our infrastructure sits at failing..The air traffic outage is a good reminder that even big systems fail when their ‘redundancy’ shares the same weak points. One cut fiber and a backup in the same failure path — that’s not resilience, that’s just hope dressed up as engineering.
And it makes me think about the rest of our infrastructure. We talk about modernization, but so much of what we rely on is already sitting at the edge….out of sight out of mind concept…The grid was built for profit, not durability or national security…( oh my god..the perfect place to add my fifty year rant..solar towers at every substation as micro grids and homes given grid tie solar with remote cutoffs as nodes of A larger resilience). Gas and water lines are aging faster than they’re replaced… roads and bridges decaying cities once vibrant with industry now abandoned and decaying from outsourcing industry and personal services for higher profits..( ever call a help customer service line..get someone that can’t speak english) Even the aquifers under major cities are strained in ways most people never hear about…. NYC is so bad if it collapsed it would sink down me whole city..
our nation on an unending quest for more by haveing one police action after another for profits for a few that we have neglected our country of the vital needs and repairs it has..

George,
Diesel has completed its 5 day 4th fractal decay (selling phase) of a 25 Aug 2026 to 22 Sept 2026 3/8/6/5 day :: x/2-2.5x/2-2.5x/1.6x 4-phase fractal subseries; the next diesel valuation growth subfractal series is underway.
(Proxy: B4NI.DE)
A presidential ban (or other restrictions) on US diesel exports at this time would, paradoxically, likely have only the immediate (before the midterms) effects of further raising gasoline prices.

Instant Pot Bone Broth Bouillon……
bake the bones first, especially for a beef bone bouillon. It gives the finished broth a much deeper, roasted flavor and darker color……
Spread raw bones on a roasting pan…..
Roast at 425°F for about 40–50 minutes, turning once…..
You want them deeply browned, but not burned…..
Put the roasted bones directly into the Instant Pot…..
Add your vegetables, vinegar, herbs, and water…..
3–4 lb beef marrow/knuckle bones, preferably with some meat or connective tissue
1 lb chicken feet, wings, backs, or additional beef bones — optional, but excellent for gelatin
1 large onion, quartered
2 carrots, roughly chopped
2 celery stalks, roughly chopped
4 cloves garlic
2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 bay leaves
1 tsp black peppercorns
1–2 tsp dried thyme
2–3 Tbsp salt to start — adjust after reduction…its your taste buds you looking at
Water, enough to come just below the Instant Pot’s maximum-fill line
Pressure cook on High for about 2 hours, then let the pressure release naturally.
Strain everything and reduce the liquid afterward to make your bouillon.
(“One useful trick: after roasting, pour a little hot water into the roasting pan and scrape up all those browned bits. Add that liquid to the Instant Pot. That’s where a lot of the roasted flavor is hiding.”)
Roast the bones
process…
Put the bones on a roasting pan and roast at 425°F for about 40–50 minutes, turning once, until they’re deeply browned.
That roasting step is important because it gives the eventual bouillon that rich roasted flavor….
Load the Instant Pot second step in this process..
Put the roasted bones into the pot….
Add the onion, carrots, celery, garlic, vinegar, bay leaves, peppercorns and thyme.
Add water until the bones are covered, but don’t exceed the Instant Pot’s maximum-fill line.
Don’t worry about adding too much salt yet. Reduction will concentrate it…..
adjust for taste at the end..
The cooking step…
Pressure cook
Set the Instant Pot to… High Pressure for — 2 hours
Allow a natural pressure release.
For extremely gelatinous stock, you can run another 60–90 minutes after the first cycle. It’s not necessary, but it extracts additional collagen… giving you a nicer bullion..( you can add a few drops of smoke flavoring to enhance the flavor)
Now Strain the broth.. ( ancient settlers ground the bone up after it was totally dry making a nutrient rich bone meal bullion ….. but not needed in this recipe) Pour everything through a fine strainer. Discard the bones. Don’t grind them into the bouillon….Pick any usable meat from the bones and return it to the broth if desired….
Now you can Concentrate it first put the strained broth into a wide pot.
Simmer uncovered until dramatically reduced….You’re looking for something that becomes thick and sticky when cooled…For a refrigerator/freezer bouillon paste, reduce until it’s almost the consistency of molasses….
For a stronger bouillon, you can reduce it even further.
Salt at the end…Now the important test… taste it….
Add salt gradually until it tastes like a concentrated bouillon rather than an unsalted stock….
That’s important because reducing the liquid can make the salt concentration rise surprisingly quickly….
THere are two ways to finish it….
You can make a Bouillon paste….
Pour into silicone ice cube molds, cool, and freeze. One cube can make roughly 1 cup of broth, depending on how concentrated you make it….
Then the Bouillon powder…how I like it..
Spread the concentrated broth very thinly on a dehydrator tray lined with a suitable nonstick sheet. Dry at about 135–145°F until completely dry and brittle. Break it up and grind it into powder…
Store the powder completely dry in an airtight container. If there is any remaining moisture, it can spoil…
And here’s the part I like… the poor boys addition..
a “poor man’s commercial bouillon” by adding roasted vegetable scraps, mushroom stems, onion skins, garlic, celery leaves, herbs, and a little nutritional yeast or MSG if you use it…. The bones provide the collagen and body, while the vegetables provide much of the savory flavor…. nothing is wasted..carrot tops …..
That gives you essentially a homemade Depression style bouillon concentrate, while getting the nutritional components out of the bones without putting bone fragments into the food…. nothing wasted..
And thinking about that there’s a neat historical aspect to this process…the goal wasn’t necessarily to make something fancy—it was to make one ingredient do several jobs… extend the food source reduce waste.. The meat cwould become the original meal, the bones became stock, the fat could be saved made into bread spreads rather than butter, candles , soaps, and the vegetable scraps could flavor the stock. That’s the part of the old practice that is very worth bringing back…. or remembering in considering the things that give one a quality of life..
eshchalots? great flavour
newsy whirlwind today. avoid noise. as usual the bond market speaks and _everyone_ listens (eventually). we printed 5.13 today on the TNX and … held a putrid 5 year auction. that ^ 10 year yield hasn’t been seen since 2007.
over the last 50 years our 10 year paper averaged 5.5 to 6 but … back then we *only* owed 10 trillion. today, at debt cresting 40 trillion well, the math doesn’t work kids. it’s my belief Sec Bessent has marvelous yield curve control but … hang onto your butts.
the nasty diesel market has been signaling for weeks with crazy crack spreads. though plenty will grouse, most farmers (who are now about harvest chores) have tank diesel to finish. most truckers do not
we are so screwed. think I’ll put in some more range time. got barter stuff? it takes a long time to grow food. buy some spare coffee? we are at 20 lbs here in an undisclosed bunker, map “kept in a mayonnaise jar on Funk and Wagnall’s porch since noon today.”
or something like that

more ping ping lip reading . capo don i hear you have new young hot wife . she here ? i see you on golf course inspecting her tonsils .
One thing was when resources are scarce, people often develop remarkably sophisticated ways of extracting value from an animal… the Marine motto adapt, improvise and overcome become the motto of moving forward..the knowledge to make the things that give you and your family a quality of life..
Tripe is a particularly good example. The stomach itself isn’t especially tender, so traditional cooks developed methods such as repeated washing, blanching, long simmering, and strongly flavored stews. What began as “we can’t afford to waste anything” became established dishes in many cultures…. visiting with someone from ukraine..they were seeking pork lungs..( gross)
back to Tripe..
“Braunschweiger”…. I will never make a sandwich without thinking about this recipe again…
1 lb cleaned beef or pork tripe
1 lb pork or beef liver
1 lb fatty pork shoulder or pork jowl
1 small onion
2 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp ground allspice
1/4 tsp marjoram
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1 tsp sugar, optional
½ cup broth or cooking liquid
Natural sausage casings, or use jars/loaf pans for a casing free version…
Cook the tripe… what’s funny is during Covid… when products were unavailable..tripe…was back in the store freezer section..
Clean the tripe thoroughly, then simmer it gently in fresh water until very tender. Depending on the type of tripe, this can take several hours.
Drain and cool.
Cook the other meats
Simmer the fatty pork until tender. Add the liver only during the last several minutes, just until cooked through. Overcooked liver becomes dry and grainy.
Reserve some of the cooking liquid….
Grind
While everything is still warm, grind it …first in the coarse blade …then cool it in freezer for about A half hour then grind it with the fine blade…
tripe + liver + fatty pork + onion
traditionally for a smoother, traditional liver sausage texture, grind it a second time…Mix in the salt, pepper, allspice, marjoram, nutmeg, cloves and optional sugar…Add broth a little at a time until you have a soft, spreadable sausage mixture….If you want the very smooth texture associated with Braunschweiger, process the mixture in a food processor while gradually adding a little of the broth…
Stuff into properly prepared sausage casings or pack into heatproof jars/loaf pans….Cook gently until the center reaches 160°F for ground meats. Don’t boil aggressively; gentle cooking gives a much better texture….Cool rapidly and refrigerate…
interesting enough is one of those historical recipe books was totally on processing and making tripe meals..
when I was forced to seek employment ..( even with all my physical limitations) one of the clients was from Ukraine..Yesterday I dropped off a care pack to them..) she was saying she was wanting to make A Ukrainian kyshka recipe…
what is that.. well her family is a poor farm family and her grandmother made it.. supposedly a delicacy …
Are you ready for this one…( probably not..made me want to gag listening to it..but then ..adapt,improvise,and overcome..se everything)
1 lb pork lungs
1 lb pork liver
1/2 lb pork heart, optional but very traditional for an offal sausage
1/2 lb pork fatback or fatty pork
11/2 cups buckwheat groats
1 large onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tsp salt, initially
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp dried marjoram
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1–2 cups of the cooking broth, as needed
Hog casings…..( intestines)
Rinse the lungs and heart thoroughly.
Put the lungs and heart in a pot, cover with water, and simmer gently until tender—roughly 11/2–2 hours.
Add the liver only for the last 10–15 minutes, just until cooked.
Remove everything and save the broth.
The lungs will become noticeably softer and easier to grind.
Toast the dry buckwheat briefly in a dry pan until fragrant.
Then cook it with approximately 3 parts broth to 1 part buckwheat until tender but not mushy….Cool completely….( now I love buckwheat…better than rice and use to be cheaper)
Dice the pork fat fairly small….( freeze it till its firm then grind it in coarse blade)Put it in a skillet over low heat and let some of the fat render….
Add the onion and cook slowly until soft and lightly browned….
Don’t throw away the rendered fat…..
Grind it…lungs + liver + heart + pork fat first through course blade.. then freeze till firm then through a fine plate.
For a smoother, more spreadable sausage, run it through a second time…
Then combine it with the cooled buckwheat and onion…
That’s part of what makes this kind of sausage rich rather than dry….From what I was told at this point you..Add your seasonings…salt, pepper, allspice, marjoram, nutmeg, garlic….
Mix thoroughly…
Add a little reserved broth until the mixture is moist but not runny.
You’re looking for something like a very thick stuffing…..
Rinse and prepare the hog casings.
Fill them loosely—about 2/3 to 3/4 full.
The buckwheat expands and a tightly stuffed casing can split during cooking. Traditional recipes specifically warn against packing these sausages too tightly….
Twist into 5–6 inch links.Prick each link a few times with a clean needle…
Put the sausages in a pan with a little water or broth….
Bake at 325–350°F until the center reaches 160°F. Then remove them and let them cool…
For eating, slice them into rounds and fry the slices in pork fat until browned and crisp….
Then a disgusting sausage my father and the guy we were told was uncle bob that had an electric shop in florida.. his family took my father in and treated him as a son..they ate this disgusting sausage and some stinky cheese while they visited during visits..krovianka… a blood sausage ..( gross )
These were usually served with fried onions, sauerkraut, rye bread, mustard, or potatoes.
and finally pump that crypto boyz !!!! pump it , pump it , ramp ramp . king don 1 . the first king of crypto . by the way crypto in greek is fake . schucks donny
re: “Digger”, Sept. 22, 2026
feat: The Amazonomachy Mobilizes
“Purple Reign” shouts a “Daily Mail” headline. Tuesday evening the Princess of Wales, flanked by the Prince and Tom Cruise, descended stairs into the Odeon Luxe, Leicester Square, London. Cruise’s new film “Digger” made its world premiere for a royal charity.
The Princess wore a purple gown matched with a pair of earrings, and a necklace with a heart shaped amethyst centre. The earrings had been a wedding gift to Princess Diana from the jewelers to the Spencer family, Collingwood. She famously paired the earrings with her Greek designer “revenge dress” against Charles and Camilla on June 29, 1994 at the Serpentine Gallery. (Thursday is the final day to view the dress at Sotheby’s London before its auction in New York later this year.)
The amethyst necklace of Tuesday had last been seen worn by Queen Camilla to the October 23, 2012 film premiere of “Skyfall” held at the Royal Albert Hall named after Queen Victoria’s husband. The necklace had not been seen for 87 years prior to that.
It was a gift from the Queen Mother, Alexandra of Denmark, to Albert Duke of York and Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon for their April 23, 1923 wedding. Alexandra was a great-great-great granddaughter of King George II via both her mother and father, and a third cousin to her husband King Edward VII. Albert became the future King George VI. An amethyst necklace made for a strange gift since the colour implied mourning. The Duchess of York allegedly wore the necklace twice. The second time was during the mourning period for the Queen Mother Alexandra following her passing in 1925. The first time allegedly may have taken place on or about October 21, 1923. The Duke and Duchess had gone to Belgrade for the christening of the ill-fated Prince Peter of Serbia.
Apparently the Ancient Greeks and Romans believed amethyst helped to maintain a sober mind.
