It has been God-awful hot down this way. What you’d expect for East Texas this time of year. But makes for miserable working conditions. Especially when outdoors. In the Sun.
Sun + Humidity = HSP’s
One of my doctor-friends has been after me for six months to build a Sauna. “George, the evidence is becoming clear on heat shock proteins…they play a role in anti-aging,” he told me.
You can find approachable papers with minimal work on this. Such as:
A quick Ai on topic leads to similar lines of inquiry:
Yes, periodically inducing heat shock proteins (HSPs)—via methods like heat exposure (e.g., sauna, hot baths), cold exposure, or even exercise—can help extend healthspan. Here’s how it works:
-
Refolding damaged proteins
-
Degrading irreparably damaged proteins
-
Reducing inflammation and oxidative stress
-
Supporting mitochondrial function
Which then gets to the “Hot hot for how long?” issue. Remember, you’re after HSP70 and HSP60 (*talk to your Dr. or PCP first before you begin any of this):
Takeaway: Yes, getting out and wiring on the solar system here is a real PITA when the overnight temp gets down to 77 and the humidity is 91 percent. Later on today, we are expecting 94 and 50 percent. Which (hand me the chart) is a “feels like” of 107F.
I hate working in this kind of weather. But, on one of my “work 10-15 minutes” then cool for 15 sessions Saturday, I was looking at systolic 117, diastolic 64, and pulse (coming down from working out) 92 BPM.
That which doesn’t kill us makes us hotter…
Power and Money
That’s what drive me out into the heat. As sugarplum fairy images of ice-cold gin & tonics swirl. But there is a payoff besides buying more (aluminum-free) deodorant for the showers after:
You don’t need two intensive years of grad school to get this: Most people (when they think about it) realize there is usually an easy path to lower stress. Some people have lives where cutting expense is easier than raising the income line. In my case, making more power is easier than making more money.
Since lifestyle is defined by the income/expense differential, if you push on the easiest “one to move” you get the benefits.
Progress Check
Eight out of 10 JDSolar 325 watt panels are on line now:
The two panels down at the far end (not tilted up on support PVC yet) will come online this morning.
I know – what’s taking so long, right?
Well, turns out I bought #8 AWG MC-4 Solar connectors and they are a 24-karat bitch to crimp on. Here, let’s put them under the scope in the lab and have a look-see:
The connector on the left is the #8 type. Great except that unless you have a very long-handle (or hydraulic) crimper, it’s hard (even with old-man strength) to put these (sonofabitches) on. The BougeRV style (on the right) won’t carry as much ultimate current, but they are easy to put on all day…
But, when you run out of (easy on the right) and (sonofabitches) on the left, you go with what’s on hand – until the supply chain shows up in the mailbox.
Nibbling on the Saw Project
The new Evolution table saw started to come out of the boxes Saturday. The roll-around job site stand begins to look like a stand now with just the wheels to go on this morning:
The saw? Well, still in cardboard:
But the plan is to put the wheels on the stand, then get the saw set-up done today and tomorrow. Trying to work the weather, heat shock proteins, deodorant inventory, cool red wine at the end of the day, and making progress on the To-Do list and power bill clipping in some kind of balance.
Sure, I might have ( in an alt. Universe) bought 50 BTC and taken the $5-million from that and just started writing checks for everything. But where would the “learning karma by burning off previous lifetimes in this one” reward in check-runs?
To each their own, I suppose.
Essoteric Ham Radio Projects
Three things got done (Friday and Saturday) in the [every so-often] HSP cool-down blocks. There’s a dandy paper for Peoplenomics coming Wednesday on the Shroud, Moses, and Human Portals. I don’t just play…
Project #1 (Antenna Decisions)
The that new double-sized G5RV (sans feedline) showed up from K5WZ Horse Fence Antennas.
The “Traditional” G5RV antenna is 51-feet either side of center of a dipole with a ladder (or twinlead) matching section, right? So this double-sized he made up for me twice that – 102-feet either side.
The problem for me now is the “kid in a candy store” (- like the first time you walked into a strip club?). Which one? Which one?
The choices (no, not blonde, brunette, or red-head) is which antenna configuration:
- The G4RV version (with ladder line to one of the matchboxes in the collection) 102 feet either side.
- OR run it as a paid of 87.5 ft doublet elements – which models well…
- OR, use it as a conventional OCFD. (off-center fed dipole)
But the latter choice isn’t easy, either. Because then there’s the matter of what “feed point ratio” is best. Again, project cool-down breaks ended up draining out the Starlink to find the classic L.B. Cebik discussions on optimum feedpoints and modeling them for my north-south (end-firing on higher bands) into Europe and Asia for DX. (This is the part where I tell you on harmonics, OCFDs become end-firing and many hams have no clue because they’re what we used to call “appliance operators.”
The self-driving ham radio equivalents from the rice-box makers (Kenwood, Icom, and Yaesu – being joined by the Chinese entrants like Xiegu…)
The advantage of the matchbox and ladder line mash-up is there’s no heavy 4:1, 6:1, or 9:1 balun up at the top of which will be (for now) about 45 feet of floppy fiberglass pole. Until we get the tower project this fall, which will get us up to 85-feet at the apex…maybe.
(Whee! I need a cool-down break from explaining that!)
Ham Radio Project #2 (Tesla Antenna Research)
The rest of Friday and Saturday went into one of those extreme (hand me the wouff-hang) esoteric “things.” Which Ai can summarize much better than I can…
“We’re revisiting a classic ham mystery: why some older CW (Morse) rigs — especially tube transmitters — seemed to punch above their weight in signal reports and tonal authority. Beyond the expected factors like tank circuit Q or mic gain, we’re exploring whether the actual RF keying envelope—particularly during CW transmission—might have played a deeper role. Specifically, we’re investigating whether series inductance between the final amplifier’s plate and tank circuit, often in the form of small parasitic chokes, introduced a deliberate or accidental phase shift that subtly changed how energy entered the tank. The goal isn’t just nostalgia—it’s to understand whether the waveform shaping at that boundary was doing more than we thought.
Our approach is hands-on and empirical. Using vintage vacuum tube gear, we’re building and testing variations with wound parasitic chokes—typically a few turns of #12 copper on a resistive or air core—to evaluate changes in envelope signature, audibility, and field behavior. We’re intentionally allowing a controlled amount of “ringing” or phase tailing during keying transitions and capturing both the audible and received RF characteristics. In some cases, we’re even measuring field strength at distances greater than 1 wavelength to see if these phase tricks produce a perceived signal enhancement beyond what conventional ERP math would predict. What we’re finding so far hints that reactive shaping at the plate-tank junction might reinforce coherency or coupling modes often dismissed in textbook RF models.
The deeper question we’re probing is whether this behavior might couple not only to the transverse electromagnetic (TEM) mode we all know, but also to a longitudinal or scalar component—sometimes discussed in fringe physics as domain-specific radiation. This isn’t about pseudoscience or violating Maxwell; it’s about whether certain impulse-phase relationships can selectively engage alternate energy domains or less-explored field structures. Just as spark-gap transmitters once revealed unexpected near-field behaviors, we suspect there may be more to the way keyed RF shapes space—especially when timed just right. If domain-coupling or non-Hertzian wavefronts exist at the fringe of known physics, this kind of workbench-level inquiry might be one of the few places left to spot them.”
Which explains the torn-apart Globe vintage CW transmitter on the radio surgery table.
On that noe, a quick listen on 3806 and I will be out crimping in the next solar connectors in our quest to “own the Sun” – which could be a race with Elon Musk, for all I know…

Well, the HSP idea explains why I choose to get out to the blacksmith shop and fire up the forge in this kind (97F) of weather. In my case it’s more of a Heat Stroke Potential, I think. Or it could be that July is when one of my former students comes down from Kentucky to visit her mom in Tyler, and I owe her one of my blacksmithing art pieces. This time it’s a napkin holder to go with her paper towel holder I made last year.
Internal Air-Conditioning – Fill a large glass or mug with ice cold water and ice.
When it’s intensely hot, I drink this super cold water and in about 3 minutes I feel like I want to put on a sweater. Lasts for about 20 minutes.
Repeat as needed.
My wife got me the coolest thing ..I have had heat stroke in the past while roofing in over hundred degree heat..the heat affects me.. she seen at dollar general this fan that hangs around your neck that blows on your head.. I had to put a wrap that’s wet which turns it into a small evaporation air conditioner.. you have to use the cool rag though to get the beneficial cooling..

“If you push the easiest one to move”
Many people are not adjusting their lifestyle or increasing their income. They are begging on line like on our local “Grapevine”. More people are not planning ahead or have saved for a rainy day. Instead they are begging. Comments like, “I just moved here and I need a refrigerator, stove, dishes,TV, and a bed.” “I picked up my kids in Georgia and they need clothes size—-, toys and beds, and I don’t have enough food.” “My electricity got shut off because I bought food instead.” Yesterday a neighbor begged everyone she knew for food for another “neighbor”, name/address unknown.” ” I found a stray dog and I can’t afford to feed it and it needs $2000 in vet fees.”
People aren’t planning ahead. They are telling sob stories and begging instead. The amount of such stories have gone from once a week to two or three a day.
People might be poorer, but most of the begging stories are poor planning. It worries me. There are at least 4 food boxes in town that regularly have free food in them, there are local churches and organizations that give food/clothes when asked, a local food bank, and quite a few places to get free hot meals. Do we as a country need to start delivering a free box of food to every household monthly? Is it need or is it greed, or just poor planning?
Americans as a whole are largely delusional. They are coached to live beyond their means with borrowed Other People’s Money (OPM). They believe that American exceptionalism extends to the four corners of the globe, and can’t understand there are consequences to their actions, both individually and at the national level.
I try to explain where they are headed to family members, and they just retaliate. Save your breath trying to coach deadbeats looking for a handout. If someone is looking to change, they will ask for help, or try networking through a forum like this. Any personal info you give them will be used to try and extort what they can’t earn.
(“Many people are not adjusting their lifestyle or increasing their income. They are begging on line like on our local “Grapevine”. More people are not planning ahead or have saved for a rainy day.”)
easy credit..most dont make the extra cash to put money away.. my grand daughter was by last night.. she wants her husband and her to buy a house..the house they are looking for is a half million..she’s a therapist her husband builds homes..no kids yet.. they are both making decent wages..she has biological DNA markers of having MS in here genes..no health insurance that will refuse to pay for the treatments….I can tell you I gave her the talk..where they are living is lower than what low income housing costs.. insurance when she gets it will be similar to what my wife’s was.. investing what house payment and taxes would be and buying savings bonds they could realistically have seventh grand in savings bonds a year. if a medical drama was to hit in the future then they would have the cash..wait seven years they could pay cash for the house..and it gives them the opportunity to see if they can afford it..by jumping in ..they would in my opinion just be leaping into the fire..average pay here now is between eleven dollars at walmart to eighteen .. low income housing is about two grand a month..the cheapest is about a grand a month.. renters insurance is cheaper than homeowners.. a lot of the mortgage brokers they are backed elsewhere with as little as a dollar going for the cost of the home. taxes etc.
well the kids after I told the grandkids Told me I was full of it..they have never had what I have faced in my life they have no clue. they have never paid for daycare I have been the daycare provider.. daycare for a single child is over a grand a month..no diapers bottles formula sickness etc.
the average wage earner cannot put money aside. I had to use my retirement funds to pay for the physical therapy I needed that healthcare insurance refused to pay for..x rays where they refused to pay for the radiologists fees..what is your doctor so inept that he can’t read an x-ray..
the system is designed for the seven figure wage earner at the top not the regular worker..grr.
money divides marriages..the husband willing to work long hours to build a future..eventually one or the other feels neglected bored and in the rut..never being able to do anything.. then the girls night out the guy that waits to get a little..doesn’t give a hoot about responsibility they just want the fun time.. good time charlies.. then the family is split..
everyone thinks I’m full of it that going after the house is a great opportunity.. been faced with the unthinkable hit from all sides for what seems my whole life.. they have never faced it.. guaranteed their health policy with the DNA markers will be twenty five to thirty five grand a year..put that on savings bonds along with the mortgage payments and they can be in a better position.

“nailing the hot to do list”
Oh Buddy do you preach to the choir, its Sunday FUNday!
“Is that a giant Zucchini in Ure pocket, or are you just glad to see Me?”
I am all about “nailing” “hot” to do’s..
Oh yes , over and over again, some moar, please.
? Question posed regarding schroom versus cactus..
That was a good question, and is right “down my alley” of experiences.
Have experimented with both and they provide distinctly different “Trips”..seems you need larger dose (hero dose) and more Time on Schrooms to cross the Death barrier.
As Ure Mind detaches from body, you “DIE” and Ure Mind is set Free to move about hyperspace.
Peyote on the other hand it seems to be much quicker to the point of Death, mind/body separation.
For some reason Im always laughing and fooling around on Peyote ?
Currently experimenting with a 50/50 ratio of Psilocybin/Mescaline, so far so Good. Can only do it once in a blue moon, as my brain cant handle much more than that.
If speed and Time duration are limiting factors, DMT is the way to go as it is Fast..like on a DMT vape pen, you be lucky to get the 3rd Puff in before you are “gone”. DMT only lasts for about 5 minutes, but you will SEE God and whole bunch of other stuff. Warning – one single SECOND of Time can seem Loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggggggggeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr than ETERNITY..much longer. Check out molecular structure of DMT molecule -https://www.erowid.org/library/books_online/tihkal/images/tihkal06.gif
Wanna met and greet Insectoids ? No really see the real deal Insectoids ? Reports on erowid suggest 90 % of users of DPT experience meeting Insectoids. Compare this picture of the DPT molecule to the DMT molecule…notice the 2 extra Carbons on the Right compared to DMT ? They resemble Antennae.. One MAJOR caution – safe dose for DPT is UNKNOWN and therefore very dangerous, best just read some trip reports on Erowid.com
* Oh by the way – you dont have to leave Ure house to experience Nu scheisse. Wanna invest – some ideas – See Symbol PSIL, like a lil more risk?..CMPS and or MNMD.
Maybe do some home worx, or not.
Peace
Would someone put some saltpeter in his drink, please
Bet Ure antennae dont look like the Bugz..
whoops

“Yes, periodically inducing heat shock proteins (HSPs)—via methods like heat exposure (e.g., sauna, hot baths), cold exposure, or even exercise—can help extend health span.”
Simple – build a sauna and sweat it out in an expensive claustrophobic steam box or HAVE A COLD SHOWER. Sheesh………….
I built a sort of outdoor shower just outside of hoopty 1 and so far it’s worked out great. It topped out at 118 deg at 98% humidity yesterday inside there. A quick shower in 58 deg well water is quite refreshing and while there is nothing dangerous in the hooptys, yet, I have been researching different nutrient systems. one of which uses sulfuric acid so you can guess what I am thinking there. I may plumb in a small holding tank to let the water temp come up a little though. Also I’ve been thinking about the heat generated in the winter time and getting some of it into the shop nearby.
Diana comes out to help when there is a lot to do and recently she suggested we need a shower to cool off in there. She is quite distracting in her gym shorts and crop tops though. Glad I made it big enough for two.
Stay safe. 73
G.A. STEWART: In actuality, everything has a Magnetic Field. The Protons and Electrons that make up reality require one.
I have come to believe that Magnetism is the key to all secrets. Geometry plays a big part, because everything is cellular in nature, and it all starts with Magnetic Domains. I have been taking notes for over 30-years now trying to put it all together.

(“I have come to believe that Magnetism is the key to all secrets”)
I am with you on that I love magnets.. put a magnetic field around a hho gen..then adjust the frequency and wham..
I bought a really strong magnet.. I was going to make a tow rope.. anyway the box shows up.. nothing in it on the side there’s tape… lol lol lol I would love to see them take that off a conveyor somewhere lol lol
yeah . on the hho..vyiu have to have a snap dragon .on the frequency mod.. and a rotating magnetic field below.. encircle the electrodes adjust the magnetic field rotation the the frequency disturbing the magnetic field lol lol I had thought about putting another rotating magnetic field above going in the opposite direction but that kind of scared me lol lol.. the way most set them up is to use brute force that takes to much energy to do the same job..
I should make one to show the grandson..
The design i made proposes an advanced hydrogen fuel cell system built around graphite electrodes energized by a frequency-modulated signal delivered through a high-powered capacitor bank. This pulsed energy disrupts hydrogen adhesion on electrode surfaces, enhancing gas release efficiency. Surrounding the reaction chamber with a magnetic field, and embedding a rotational magnetic vortex beneath, introduces magnetohydrodynamic flow that stirs the electrolyte, accelerates ion movement, and prevents stagnation. Together, these elements foster a clean, high-output electrolysis process while reducing passivation. To safely harness hydrogen’s intense combustion, the system integrates a passive cooling layer that modulates fuel temperature before ignition—transforming volatile energy into a controlled, abundant fuel source.
the dual magnetic vortex one above and one below each rotating in different directions disturbs the magnetic field surrounding the frequency..that one scared me.. the amount you get from just one vortex is amazing.. you have to cool that gas though.. its extremely hot.. and explosive in condensed version.. Adolph used something similar for motors what they did though to cool the hot hydroxy gas was dilute it with alcohol water injection which you can run down and buy at almost any auto parts store that sells them to race car drivers to cool down laughing gas injection..

First and foremast, removing something from the box hardly qualifies as progress Sir. Care to try again? Pick one thing and do it well, then do the other things later. I’m good for 2-3 hours, tops. We are still in the “dome” bracing for more 90s while thinking the 80s balmy and 70s sorta frosty. I’ll work more when it’s cool(er). But, you be you George.
OBSCON (obligatory sailing content)
Whitehawk, a lovely swailed beam 104′ ketch rig is again leading for line honors in the ChiMac. The Racing division caught the Cruising division and is sliding through homespun sailors along the east shore of Great Lake Michigan. The Mac is 333 nautical miles and has served up moderate conditions for both fleets.
A 2019 article in Classic Sailboats dot.org [scroll down for a great photo]
“… The 104 foot ketch, owned by businessman Peter Thornton, was the highlight of the cruising division. Styled after the famous Herreshoff racing vessel Ticonderoga, Whitehawk was designed by renowned Maine yacht designer Bruce King and commissioned in 1978. …”

That concludes the sailing info for the morning.
Please stay tuned.

ps – the Sunday Curse has again kept our local fleets onshore. No wind …
Whitehawk is Beautiful!! I would love to have seen that boat under full sail go through the channel and under the bridge. Thanks!
On another note, sadness. Mackinac Island now has ELECTRIC bicycles all over the place!! It’s a CRIME!!! A true CRIME. Where were the “Period Police” when this travesty started? What happened to that 1880’s motif only updated via those new fangled electric lights that they finally allowed to be installed about 125 year ago.

you must be really efficient. I started to take the trash out yesterday seen it was starting to get full. then the wife says don’t forget the mail the mail so I grabbed the mail started walking to the door. fang wanted to go out so I set the mail down took fang outside. came back seen there was dishes in the sink it’s not I better get those done before dinner time. then wife says maybe you should go and grab the laundry and take it to the laundry room for me. so I’m there fang wants to treat so I hand her a treat I end up going to bed waking up this morning the dishes are still in the sink the males laying on the counter and the trash isn’t gone out nothing is done yet.

I haven’t seen anything to indicate that HPH-15 clinical trials have started in the US. Metformin was first studied in the 1920’s, and only was released as a pharma in France in 1957. Given how long it took for Metformin to get approval in this country (37 years), I would expect a slow roll on the Japanese wonder drug. And the US market is where the money is.

I see that with the kids.. they have great jobs cheap credit and huge benefits to them what’s going on in the world doesn’t exist..they don’t have a clue..as I peek out of the box that confines me.. Here’s an interesting video.. Is this an example of resonance, energy tuning, and magnetic coupling. where the ring magnet become a toroidal field generator coil?
can you tune this to get various frequencies?
It’s not ‘generating’ anything. Basically it has become a real good receiving antenna for WiFi in probably the 2.4gHz band that it feeds into the TV. If it is picking up more than one channel, it is broadband across several different frequencies. Maybe not WiFi… possibly off-air broadcast TV.
Thanks Hank… I don’t know much about communication antennas.. where I live we live in a hole.. to put up a standard antenna it has to be seventy feet off the ground to get local channels..the same with cell phone. until they put the tower up the best you could do was grab a coat hanger put your aluminum foil hat on and climb up to the peak of the house .. now the can you hear me now cell company cut towers to increase profits.. we still have somewhat coverage maybe yes maybe no.. you literally have to drive five miles to get a stable service..
knowing this..I won’t even waste a ring magnet to make one.. the only coverage we have is our internet and television has to be cable or satellite..
had a guy walking around all flustered once..I asked what was wrong he says my phone don’t work..I pointed to the only remaining tv antenna after cable that’s still mounted.. there that’s why.. back in the day they had a pay phone a block away a quarter a minute.. it was long distance to call outside town..so I had a pager that got through.. left a voice message on it.. if someone called..I’d walk to the pay phone and call them back..

7.5 earthquake off Kamchatka peninsula last night had Hawaii under a tsunami watch about 9pm. About an hour later the watch was cancelled as it was determined no tsunami was generated.
And that’s what’s shakin’ in the Pacific!
Been waiting for you to up-date. Thanks
USGS reports 50 major earthquakes off Kamchatka peninsula in last 24 hours. Largest was 7.4, no tsunami. That’s some major shakin’ going on!
Alaska is shaking, too…
also thanks for the update Hank, knew the plumes were “venting” in occasional fountains. Earthshakes / tsunami watch another thing. How long for you and yours to attain high ground?
The Ring of Fire has been rumbling and urping for eons and … this seems to be building to a “hot” phase. Sometimes it’s ~just~ Tonga, or St. Vincent, or Hawaii, or … all the above.

Cheap summer cooler – freeze a slightly damp washcloth in zip lock bag.
Placing this frozen washcloth on wrists and other pulse points cools the body in minutes.
There are TWO reasons I don’t live in the South … yep that includes East Texas.
>90 degrees more than 8 days a year
>70 humidity when it is above 80
Cold doesn’t bother me in the least … because as a kid with a LONG paper route for many years I learned how dressing properly kept the cold at bay and in fact you could be downright comfortable all the way down to -20 for hours on end if you were active. (wool is your friend, a very good friend, and imo still better than ALL of the expensive “new tech” cold weather stuff I have tried – just be sure to layer)
As for sauna use I learned the way to do it is to HYDRATE then a quick warm shower to wash off … go in the sauna for 25-35 minutes … immediately do an ICE COLD shower (or I suppose you could do an ice lake plunge) … back in the sauna for 15 minutes or so and finish with a luke warm shower while doing a final wash off. Have no idea if that is what Doctors recommend but it always seemed to work for me.
Not sure you need a sauna in the summer where you are .. just put a lawn chair in the sun on a blacktop driveway and you can be baked in no time at all. Be sure to turn so that all sides can be burnt crisp equally.
Glad to hear you solar is coming along in good order. Good Job!
