Modern Headlines, Ancient Context

I’ve become a real fan of Edgar Rice Burroughs again because so many of his stories are still hanging around the edges of the modern archetype in news flows.

Not just for the Tarzan series which culminated in 1947.  Or, the Schwarzenegger movie you may have total recall of when reading Burroughs’ John Carter of Mars.

No, for us there’s an almost heaven riff to Land of Terror  as we read how Donald Trump hits Russia with ‘tremendous’ oil sanctions  and look at the chain reactions that have left China and India to face supply jolt as U.S. targets Russia’s oil giants.

As a result, China has concerns as do points south from there. US sanctions Russian oil majors over Ukraine, prompting India jitters and Moscow fury | Reuters

It doesn’t directly cause market jitters, although markets will open down today and Bitcoin is still under $110,000.

The biggest problem is NOT the White House remodeling, though you might think so reading The White House Lied About Destroying the East Wing.  Or, for that matter, Trump says ‘existing structure’ of White House East Wing to be torn down.  But haven’t I mentioned (more than once) that Trump has a Developer’s Mindset?

Blow and Blow?

We ship you not, but: US military strikes suspected drug vessel in Pacific.  Mixed feelings on this.  Love that drug flows may be slowing. About 100,000 pounds of blow has been interdicted.  Where our concern centers is on the U.S. performing  self-appointed police actions in international waters.  We don’t know for sure on this, since we haven’t found the lat/lons on this.

Video promoting the action was a good selling point, but we don’t know if it was specifically the craft that was attacked.

Perhaps our concerns will blow over.

If you’re not into cartography, it’s due to pass south of Jamaica by Monday which means really good beach combing in the Cayman Islands after it passes there, says Tuesday or Wednesday.  I have friends who have picked up the odd doubloon in the surf up in the Rum Point area after storms…

Next stop will be – we’re spit balling here – whether Melissa will shoot the gap between Cancun and western Cuba – in which case a week, or so ahead? We MIGHT – and this is only a tiny chance for now – we could have us big weather in the Gulf of America (or, whoever’s it is this week_).

Not much else to worry about.  Unless you want to get back on the Burroughs riff.  Having failed with 3I/ATLAS running into Mars (riffing Burroughs The Gods of Mars) we have seen a few nicely irresponsible comments about how it must have triggered that flare.  Say what?  Is 3I/ATLAS Trying to Communicate? Yes! It’s Wombat Day!  (BCN mentioned to Len in Oz): They are serious – OK, and sparring).  How some ever this is International Wombat day.

A wombat is a stout, burrowing Australian marsupial (family Vombatidae) built like a low-slung bulldozer with a teddy-bear face: it has powerful claws for digging long tunnel systems, a tough cartilage-reinforced rump for blocking predators, backward-facing pouch to keep soil off the joey, cube-shaped droppings used for scent-marking, and a slow, nocturnal grazer’s lifestyle focused on grasses, roots, and bark; there are three species (common, southern hairy-nosed, northern hairy-nosed), with lifespans around 10–15 years in the wild and notably higher in captivity.

And just to be clear, Len does not look like a wombat.  *(They however…er…how do I break this to him?…hmm…)

Around the Ranch: Time Budgeting

Sorry for the shortish column this morning.  Besides trying to work on proofing my latest book (Mind Amplifier: Human Use of Cognitive Prosthetics) there’s a new math theorem resolving into view.

The short version (look for the full details on Peoplenomics if it works out) is that there is a “fingerprint of God” contained within the time base of news events.  If you can picture a crossover between Elliott Wave theory and our work on minimal cycle deconstruction and the visual oscillator in yesterday’s ChartPack (subscriber side) there are remarkable possibilities to run down.

  • The first is that order does appear in chaos. It’s evidenced by the renormalizing rate of sequential moving averages.
  • This “order within chaos” is repetitive.
  • In other words, on certain days, markets have peaks of regularity in their data.  October 3rd was a “zero day” as were Sept. 19th and 22nd.
  • On other days, chaos is maximal: September 2nd was a max chaos day.
  • At first blush, highs appear at “minimal chaos” nodes while lows come around max chaos days.

In recent market work,  we just had a chaos reading of 4 on Wednesday.  Tuesday’s reading was a 2.  If we get the expected lower market at the close today, the chaos reading will be a 5.

What’s useful to know is that max chaos (only in the present iteration of the work) tends to max at 7, or so.  As a result, we can infer (if you believe whack job numerology like this) that more downside is ahead between now and the middle of next week.

Because we can also see a “self-healing” aspect of the information calculated from sequential moving averages.

And what it offers are some nifty insights into the way this “min/max chaos” has been around throughout human history.  And how, cycles may steer human events, exerting a much stronger influence than previously appreciated.

Being an offset function, it’s like burning your hand when cooking.  The “burn” happens today, but the blister shows up tomorrow or maybe out into next week.

One other take out from this:  You know the old saying “If you want something done, give it to busy man to get done”?

It’s a lie.  I gave this project to the busiest guy I know – me.  And Nothing is getting done, as a result.

We’ll take Truth wherever we can find it, I suppose…

One interesting detail left out of all the liberal squawking over the East Wing renovation is that that area, officially used by the FLOTUS and her staff, was added in 1942 by FDR to cover the underground presidential underground command bunker. I’m thinking the current demo and rebuild exercise is actually for modernizing key elements of the presidential emergency operations center, aka ‘the bunker.’ If I’m right, the ballroom demo is just a convenient ‘look over here’ distraction. Why such a project might be deemed essential ‘now’ deserves further consideration.

    • Go bigger in speculation since a hypersonic FOAB slipping through means it’s unlikely the East Wing survives, or much else in the square.

      Trump must be creating an intergalactic gold exchange for when the Anunnaki arrive. Trump has added a lot more golden touch to the inside of the White house in hopes the Anunnaki will find the detail warm and inviting.

    • The East Wing is damn’ near falling down. It is past the point of economically-practical renovation and needs to be removed/replaced. AFAIK the Trump “renovation” has only just removed the walkway along the east side of the East Wing.

    • What I want to know is did they put in a 20 mile underground subway with a very high speed passenger carrying device that runs from the WH to somewhere else? They provided for a way for Congress to quickly get out of town so one must assume thay also provided for a way for the President to quickly get out of town (withOUT using a helicopter).

      Most don’t realize but there is an underground train station under the Capitol’s grounds and for decades they always kept a passenger train with train crew onboard with it’s an engine running down the street at Union Station, ready to go the three blocks to the Capitol so as to pick up ALL the Congress Critters for a fast trip out of town – avoiding all the surface streets traffic.

      Where was that train supposed to go to once it had picked up 535 career criminals (and part of their staff and families)?

      The big so called “secret” was that it was to go to “The Greenbriar” which is right on a mainline track of the N&W RR in the mountains of West Virginia!! That dynamic kept the Greenbriar in beautiful GREEN,via hidden payments to the N&W RR for decades as the bolt hole for the US Congress,, long after most of the other old magnificent remote resorts of the early 20th Century had fallen into disrepair, most closing.

      Thankfully that beautiful place, The Greenbriar, still remains open even though after the government stopped paying for it (allegedly!) and the N&W RR sold it off .. though they have had to selll off a few ten of thousands of acres of land that surrounded it (which kept pesky neighbors away).       Do they still keep a train with an engine running in the bowls of Union Station for Congress to use in an emergency? I have no idea but it would be interesting to know what they now want to do with Congress if a nuclear war breaks out. Is every Congress Critter ON HIS /HER own?

        It runs to a DUMB that’s located several thousand feet under an iron-rich mountain in south-central West Virginia, and has existed since the 1960s. They upgraded the transport system in the mid-1980s, and again in about 2015. It does not set & idle. What it was in 1963 I don’t know. What it is now is pneumatic-assist diesel-electric maglev, which needs no warm-up.

          A “CNBC” report earlier this month highlighted the Bill Gates investment-sprinkled new fake butter, “Savor”, oiling its way onto unsuspecting palates. It seems the special recipe is assembled in Batavia, Il., a former windmill manufacturing hub, and a suburb of Chicago.

    Tropical Storm Melissa is looking to become a real bitch.
    Moving at a slow crawl of 2kph., she is going to pound Jamaica for days., then around the 26th she should intensify into a Cat Two Hurricane.., then by the 28th a Cat Four.., that is where she ‘may’ start changing course and head northward – right into Cuba as a category Four Hurricane., but right now, that is just guesswork. The actual track is virtually unknown due to it’s very slow speed.

  13. I used to get to Oz a lot during my serious wind chasing days (the world sailing speed record is an elusive goal) and met more than a few fine Shielas. One of them was describing how the men there were often compared to the local fauna, especially Koalas, because he eats, roots, shoots, and leaves. Strange dietary habits is all they meant, I’m sure.
    Broke a record at Woodman’s Point, WA, and that stood for many years after.

    – BLS staff were called back into the office this month to allow the government to meet statutory requirements in adjusting Social Security payments for next year. The September CPI is the final piece of data-puzzle needed for the 2026 cost of living adjustment.
    Note: With all the other agencies shut down., no one seems to be questioning the integrity of the data being analyzed.
    We then go data-dark once more until the gov-down opens back up.
    – Inflation is “estimated” to rise above 3% [ 3.1% to be precise.] – the fastest pace in more than a year. The last time inflation was below 2% was in February 2021 – officially.
    Inflation is above 2% and expected to go above 3% [ food prices have risen over 24% in the past four years. In August, grocery prices jumped 0.6%, the highest monthly increase in nearly three years.- BLS data. ] How can the Federal Reserve justify cutting rates as inflation is going up well beyond their 2% target ? And Trump must not see the numbers that are crippling his peons.

    We have long since ‘outgrown’ the current Federal Reserve. Their dual mandate simply can not be accomplished with the wave of a magical interest-rate wand. There are a couple of ideas floating around that would work – but then.., they don’t care.

  15. One area of interest that I have been cobbling together is the combination of A.I. and quantum computers. It is a fascinating possibility that would change the world. It will happen, though it is still a few years down the road.
    The more that A.I. becomes involved in the development & design of quantum computers the faster the roll-out will happen. When quantum computers become available the more A.I. will evolve., and much, much faster. It will appear to be a race to the top for both entities.., quantum computers and A.I. One helping to evolve and advance the other.
    Musk has stated that in just a couple of years Tesla will receive over 80% of it revenue from it’s robot development. And just yesterday he stated that the push for his trillion dollar payday is to plow that money into the further development of Tesla’s robots. This of course will push the further development of A.I. and quantum computers. Once those two combine and go into a robotic platform – the world, as we know it, will change., and mostly for the good., but there will be a lot of new laws regarding this development. The mass unemployment will have to be addressed – what do you do with tens of millions out of work? And who will be the first country to deploy a robot Peace Keeping Force? What would happen if just one A.I. Quantum-Bot goes a little rogue and links to a quantum mainframe? It could hack any system in the world in the matter of a few seconds – lord help us all if it is doing that because it is disgusted with mankind and it’s history.
    A lot of very important questions that will absolutely have to be addressed., and hopefully long before the first Quantum-Bot rolls off the assembly line.

    • So, I see you using future tense in your rant. So- how would you know if an AI-Quantum computer combo is siphoning of pennies from all accounts and transactions to a sideline offshore war chest ? Ans>- You wouldn’t.

      • I use to use a popular accounting program . until 2016 ..then it changed and the numbers never matched ..it was always a few pennies off.. I had a situation in 75 and am pretty anal about it… and think about it a buck a week over several billion customers.. all your banking info held in another country… I got to be pretty acquainted with the people in Taiwan..

    who did they think was going to pay for them?
    now I finally know why the big insurance company is not going to offer the Medicare supplement plan..lol lol they of course want to sell a more expensive policy that will of course probably pay less.. but a news story last night really put it in the perspective.. the hospitals and clients refuse to accept what they are willing to pay..they will no longer accept the payments from the insurance company and Medicare.. pretty straight forward .. a simple F@#k you and a good eat SH@T and die letter is adequate don’t they know those free business trips for meeting and the bonuses of the insurance industry has more importance than what the medical industry needs are lol lol lol.. the system could easily be fixed but then it would disrupt the business model on the other side.. it is all in the business model.. had to tell my boss that I need more time per client..discovered with one I actually paid more in fuel to do the work than I get..hmm the business model..that’s why the executives get more perks..
