The Washington state man accused of starting a wildfire that has destroyed homes and forced thousands to flee around Spokane was previously questioned in connection with two fire investigations last year, according to court documents.
In July 2025, there were several “bus-sized” fires in an area near the Spokane River and Farinacci’s apartment. Police searching for a wildfire suspect at a state park the following month came upon Farinacci sitting on a bench “seemingly out of breath from possibly running”. Law enforcement took photos of him and according to court documents he was wearing a green T-shirt like the one he was seen in on Saturday.
While he was questioned in the two investigations, he was not charged.
Since Farinacci’s arrest in connection with the Old Trails fire, a clearer picture of his criminal history has emerged. He previously served roughly a decade in prison for manslaughter and aggravated assault in the 2010 killing of his father. At age 21, he shot and killed his father after an argument in a family home in Arizona.
He was released from probation in early 2024, and a probation officer said he had a stable residence with his girlfriend and her family, but had not completed a mental health evaluation or domestic violence treatment.

No way I can match your recent output. I have been collaborating on my current project with ChatGPT for editing & polishing. It has been a learning experience. My AI collaborator that I named Fred, after an AI character in another unfinished novel, has limits & a strong tendency to go off the rails in spite of earlier directions. Fred can only work reliably on about 20 lines of text at a time. Then I have to download that section when I’m satisfied and upload the next section. The effort, so far, has cost me too much time lost because Fred couldn’t recover what was done two days before, or when he started rewriting my words. 2 cups of rolled oats
2 cups of flour
1 1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp of pumpkin pie spice ( or nutmeg )
1 1;2 cup butter softened mix well ..( I used a dough cutter to cut in the butter)
two cans of apple pie filling
1 jar of Snickers caramel topping
( you can use raw apples to just peal core flip with a tbsp of lemon juice half cup of sugar 1 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp of pumpkin pievspice)
take half of the topping and press it in the bottom of a 9/13 cake pan..
spread the apple mixture then top it with the other half of the topping mix..
bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour..
oh my god..first time making it for everyone last night..today ill make it for the wife and myself..Guaranteed to gain a few pounds with that one..top it with some home made ice cream..
