TL;DR: Markets braced on durables, GDP, and UI filings with gold near $3,800, silver $46, BTC $111.5K. My consigliere’s dark dart toss runs from Israel–Iran nukes to a 2029 bio-war, stitched to financial collapse. Out here, even a dead cat vanished by vultures — a reminder the Presence still cleans up when it must.
Durable Goods and Econ
Prior to the economic data, markets were looking for a second day of slide at the open. Gold was lastery again and silver eyeing $46 next. But that was before the following news dropped:
New Orders
New orders for manufactured durable goods in August, up following two consecutive monthly decreases,
increased $8.9 billion or 2.9 percent to $312.1 billion, the U.S. Census Bureau announced today. This
followed a 2.7 percent July decrease. Excluding transportation, new orders increased 0.4 percent.
Excluding defense, new orders increased 1.9 percent. Transportation equipment, also up following two
consecutive monthly decreases, led the increase, $8.1 billion or 7.9 percent to $110.2 billion

International Trade:
Advance International Trade in Goods
The international trade deficit was $85.5 billion in August, down $17.3 billion from $102.8 billion in July. Exports of
goods for August were $176.1 billion, $2.3 billion less than July exports. Imports of goods for August were $261.6
billion, $19.6 billion less than July imports.

Also Out: GDP
Real gross domestic product (GDP) increased at an annual rate of 3.8 percent in the second quarter of 2025 (April, May, and June), according to the third estimate released by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. In the first quarter, real GDP decreased 0.6 percent (revised). The increase in real GDP in the second quarter primarily reflected a decrease in imports, which are a subtraction in the calculation of GDP, and an increase in consumer spending. These movements were partly offset by decreases in investment and exports.

And the weekly Unemployment Filings

BTC was down to the $111,500 area. And we wouldn’t be surprised to see Gold kick in $3,800 today.
Meanwhile, as Switzerland blames tariffs, they again held rates steady: Swiss central bank revises economic growth amid U.S. tariffs challenge.
How to Bet the Future
My consigliere called all excited Wednesday. See, he’s figured out how the Future is going to happen. Or, so he thinks – and this dart toss may not last more than another 15-minutes. But here’s the gist of it. (Hold on, this might be jarring to some!)
- Sometime between now and, oh year-end say, Israel may have to go first use of nukes on Iran. That’s because Operation Midnight Hammer may not have killed the Iranian program. We think what is likely would be an update to The Status of Iran’s Nuclear Program | Arms Control Association. If they report Iran’s “glowing is growing” then Israel may be pressed into first use.
- Then, because there could be lots of Iranian civilians killed (remember, in that part of the world “human shields” is a thing) which would cause outrage in the West and totally piss-off the Islamic world.
- Which, in turn, MIGHT then lead to a Pakistani nuclear strike on Israel – aimed at a couple of military and economic centers (Tel Aviv, Haifa?) and the Dimona nuclear facility.
- With their homeland seriously shot-up, many Israeli’s could relocate to Poland and south Argentina. Although Argentina as “Little Israel” was called conspiracy theory in 2006, the new synagogue in San Martín de los Andes was a noteworthy development.
- Then, about the time the world thinks everything’s going to blow in 2026, we could then get our three-year False Peace (I think G.A. Stewart covered that in his Nostradamus work).
- Also, people go a little nutty when the sky changes – and there’s more coming. Apophis – NASA Science
- So – come 2029 – about the time Apophis flies by (we hope!) – then we get into the Mars runs wild.
- World War III (part 2) is game on in 2029. Be ready to brace for an 80 percent die-off because of biological weapons. Which my consigliere worries North Korea is likely working on because nukes are a bit problematic. Harder to hide and gobbling up tons of electricity.
Yes, this lines up as bothersome, But you can’t call bull-shit on it because it MIGHT stitch together this way. Yes, the projections do make sense – especially a nuclear first use IF Iran is going high speed on nukes. Any nation that does first-use would be caste as an international pariah state, sure. But if someone says “I’m going to kill you” and then buys guns and knives…following?
The other thing that dovetails is this scenario would “give cover” to financial collapse at scale. Remember how 9/11 came as the internet bubble implosion was picking up speed? Maybe this if how history happens. Very, oh, Lemony Snicket.
We try to look at the future as a dart board. It’s still to early to talk about landing zones for the pointy end of things. . Ever play darts? You know about “doubling-in” right? That’s the short-range news in play. THEN we get to the double-out moment. Doubling-out in ’29 is not a farfetched throw from here.
You’ll want to order another pitcher, or three, in advance.

Around the Ranch: A Dead Cat Story
Not our usual fare for breakfast reading, but stick with me.
Tuesday afternoon, Elaine and I were sitting in what we call “the 180 room” that looks over the front yard and expansive views. I was pondering how to deal with a grim discovery when I went out to wheel the garbage can back to the house; Tuesday’s is garbage day here.
Out at the edge of the road was a cat. Gray and very much dead. But in a sleeping pose – with no signs of injury I could make out with a close look. But, I didn’t move it – because feral cats can carry fleas, ticks, and other nasties. I figured clean-up would be taking the tractor out – with a rake – and burying the animal down toward the creek. About an 8th of a mile down the hill.
What was vexing me was how to tell Elaine. As you know, we have been slowly cutting back on the feral cat feedings – we had as many as 21 of them at one point. And when Elaine was walking outside a couple of weeks back, she was nearly knocked off her feet (or tripped) by this “fur carpet” that was surrounding her. “They have to go,” she announced. Which was fine with me: $300 a month for cat food is a little much – plus there’s the health risk to us. Not to mention the screen porch has been torn up (again) and I can’t BBQ or use the gas broiler because cats – wild and bold – are attracted to my cooking.
So, anyway, there we were: sipping wine looking at the yard out toward the gate. (All the while I was still turning over in my head what to do about the dead cat down the drive). Out of nowhere, Elaine points and says, “What’s that?” I look and sure enough, a turkey vulture had glided in. In the space of minutes there were six or eight of them, wings spread, bumping and posturing, all business.
“Why, it looks like the vultures got a cat!” I exclaimed, innocently. When the Universe blesses, you take your cue and run with it…
Before setting to work, they did the posturing, Puffing up and spreading wings. After a 10-minute floor show, they got down to business. Nature’s road kill clean-up squad.
Next morning I went out to check, and there was no sign of anything. Nadda – zip – bupkis. No bones, no fur, no trace. My problem had been lifted off my shoulders without me having to move a rake or a tractor bucket.
The thing that struck me wasn’t just that nature had handled disposal. It was the grace with which the whole matter was resolved. Elaine never had to be upset, I didn’t have to conceal anything, and the universe sent in its own clean-up crew right on time.
I took it as one of those quiet reminders that there is a Presence, a Force, whatever you want to call it, woven into the way this world works. You can call it natural order, God, or coincidence, but when it steps in like that, you feel the choreography. Not only was the cat gone, but the lesson was left behind: the Force really does move things along if you’re paying attention.
Not everyone notices this kind of thing: I think it has a great deal to do with how each of us indexes the Reality before our noses. If all you do is ‘take Life as it is’ – not expanding your indexing of events out several levels – you’re very likely to miss it. But, when you begin to ask “Why did this happen?” Like the cat thing.
In a lifetime of watching, you begin to respect, honor, and appreciate how the “whole thing” called Life works. Has its own agenda, tools, and its timeline is certainly not human-scale. I have noticed, though, and I think reader Andy is in this boat, too: When you are appreciative and respectful of “Force, Presence, or the Dude” things just sort of “work out.”
Just as I was pondering it all, the phone rang Wednesday. Seems a young man – quite skilled in a lot of land work – got stiffed on a job and needs to make some “fast money” and his grandfather mentioned that “If ya’ll have any work that needs doing….”
Well, yeah, sure do. For me? It was the “maraschino cherry” call. Fence line work, fire breaks, limbing-up trees? Hell yes we have stuff to do.
And it’s great to notice when the Director of All sends in walk-ons to our personal stage just to make sure you get through the next scene well.

Hi George,
Your dead cat disposal process reminded me of my trip to Mongolia about 20 years ago. Our guide pointed to a mountain peak and said that it was used for “sky burials.” Vulture appetites include human remains.
Given the rocky soil, in Tibet and Mongolia, the custom was to carve up the human remains and leave them in exposed place for birds and other animals to feast on. The funeral director was colloquially known as “the butcher” and there were a number of preparatory steps. Allegedly, the practice is now illegal but still practiced.
Strikes me as an ecologically sound way to deal with the deceased. Seems there are probably over 3000 square miles of US land used for cemeteries that could have been better used for suburban housing tracts or even parks.

When I was about 10 years old, I was playing in an empty lot, and I came upon a dead cat. It was slowly being consumed by maggots, they had consumed part of it’s head, and it’s skull was exposed.
A couple of weeks ago I found a dying sparrow in my driveway, it was breathing heavy, really wanted to live… later on that day it was dead. It’s a common driveway and I didn’t want the sparrow to be flattened by a car tire so I put under the nearby bushes. I was thinking that I might bury it, but I didn’t it. The next day the carcass was gone.

It’s is the contracted form of it is or it has:
Can you hear that noise? Where do you think it’s (it is) coming from?
It’s (it is) nearly the end of the month. It’s (it has) gone really quickly.
Its is a possessive determiner (like my, your, his) which we use when referring to things or animals:

feat: National Forensics League
Folks,
Students of the century old National Speech and Debate Assocation formerly known as the National Forensics League no doubt paid rapt attention to a dais yesterday. The President of the Ukraine addressed the 80th UN General Assembly. Apparently the teleprompter had been repaired.
The President’s public social media image upload offered a close-in, cropped perspective of him as speaker at the rostrum. “Reuters” headlined their event coverage from a wider angle perspective inclusive of copious hall seating availability at the following link:

Folks,
Jimmy Fallon (“Descendant of a Leader”) posted a cryptic video promoting his upcoming Taylor Swift booking at Rockafeller Center. Highlighted is track #11 from her new 12th album, “Life of a Showgirl”, along with her favorite number 13.
Separately “The Format” musical group are booked to provide musical diversion on the Swift “Tonight Show” episode. Just back from a years-long hiatus, the group allegedly is named as a nod to the music industry’s appetite for cookie-cutter hit singles.
Let’s join DJ George in studio recently having managed a “cat problem” through luck or divine intervention. The Format are ready to unleash a ditty from the past off their “Dog Problems” album. Let loose on the world as a singularity on October 17, 2006, here’s “Time Bomb” at the following YouTube link. re: “The White Angel”, 1936
feat: Crimea
Folks,
American film “The White Angel” of 1936 pre-dated the assignment of the todesengel as a battalion medical officer.
It’s a wrap at the UN.
The President of the Ukraine posted a photo-op collage update for public distribution. A “Reuters”-like image omitted the copious seating availability. Presidents of South Africa and France received guest star billing and warm handshakes. Meanwhile Presidents Trump and Zelensky stood staring ominously across from each other. Would that be bevvies on the rocks, to go?
The US First Lady and her Ukrainian counterpart shut down the closing credits in style. They wore white. Ooof…
Israel understands the consequences of nuclear weapons’ use and now framed with questionable U.S. support. One possibility, not being whispered, is what if Israel’s technology is such, that it decides to go with a bio-weapon engineered for a specific gene pool and is fast acting. Handled properly comes complete deniability.
I have wondered why the US had about 70 bio labs in Ukraine. Clearly researching potential new prescription drugs to cure many of the world’s ills, wouldn’t you say?

Good luck with your new young and strong labor! What’s a reasonable rate to pay for such a person, presuming that you can even find a competent one? Cash of course, but how much? I could never figure that out, especially with expectations and the changing value of dollars.
I pay $12/hr for “just get it done” work and $15/hr for exemplary work (rarely happens.)
My car mechanic (46yrs experience) charges me $10/hr for “after hours” work.
The local McD pays $9/hr and cstores pay $7.25/hr.
I live in a very inexpensive area. Milk is $2.29/gal this week and eggs dropped to $2.79/doz. Gas is $2.61 and diesel $3.39 (which ain’t bad for snow country.) A couple can survive here on $12/hr/40hr or about $375/wk — not well, mind you, but they can survive.
I take care of my “oddjobbers” when I hire one, because I do so rarely, but when I need someone, I don’t want to look very far to find him or her.
(“My car mechanic (46yrs experience) charges me $10/hr for “after hours” work.”)
dam around here they charge 120.00 an hour For shop time more foe emergency after hour services..I was visiting with a guy today he traveled from a big city to get a job here..because we have low unemployment.. he was saying he thought this would be the perfect place..low unemployment plenty of jobs.. then he said..what they didn’t say is you have to have six jobs just to make a living lol lol..
He charges $120/hr in the shop. That ten buck thing is his “after hours and under the table” rate, for work done in his driveway…
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered hundreds of the U.S. military’s generals and admirals to gather on short notice — and without a stated reason — at a Marine Corps base in Virginia next week, sowing confusion and alarm after the Trump administration’s firing of numerous senior leaders this year.
Of the two articles I just read on the historic order, it appears to be political, rather then military. Which makes it even more historic.
World wide security questions abound.
We’ll see…,
Poland is preparing to amend its law on military deployments abroad to allow its forces to shoot down “hostile objects” launched by Russia, over Ukraine.
The law would include Russian drones and Russian missiles, over Ukraine without prior approval from NATO or the European Union. It is not known if the law would also cover Russian aircraft.
It seems to many people that the very moment Poland engages a Russian Missile which is “over Ukraine” then Poland becomes a “Party to the conflict,” thereby opening itself to being attacked by Russia.
Most knowledgeable observers think that NATO would have no obligation to adhere to Article 5, Collective Self Defense of the NATO Treaty, if Poland chooses to deliberately enter the conflict on its own. But while there may not be any “obligation” for NATO to honor Article 5, it is already long clear that NATO WANTS to go to war with Russia.
Perhaps this is why US Secretary off War, Pete Hegseth, is calling for an in-person meeting next week of ALL Generals and Admirals of ALL branches of the US Armed Forces? (Story Here)
Perhaps Hegseth KNOWS that Poland is going to do this, perhaps also KNOWS that Russia absolutely WILL strike Poland if Poland shoots down Russian aircraft over Ukraine, and finally KNOWS that will declare Article 5 Collective Self Defense against Russia????
That would mean immediately World War 3 and Russia stated early in the Ukraine conflict that if NATO declares Article 5 against Russia “it will be a war that no one will win.” i.e. a nuclear war.
Good points.., I will keep them in mind as this develops.
“That would mean immediately World War 3 and Russia stated early in the Ukraine conflict that if NATO declares Article 5 against Russia “it will be a war that no one will win.” i.e. a nuclear war.”

to me 8-1/2 yrs,,, is akin to your travel time to Iowa, Trump walked into the UN and ordered a beer,,, game on
Remember, Mr. Obama fired every General and Fleet officer in our entire military, who either knew how to fight successfully, or was a hardcore conservative. I’m not a nihilist, but I consider it a reasonable assumption that any General or Fleet officers Mr. Trump discharged, lacked basic competence in their alleged fields of expertise and were therefore, not a loss. I wonder what the chances are, that Pete will can a bunch of these generals and admirals next week, and add stars to the lapels of the ones standing beside them…?

or … a lot sooner.. last year we spent about 8 billion dollars a day on weapons being used . it has drastically amplified in this present year..all while flooding America with illegals for the average wage earner to support .all while neglecting the needs of the american citizens and infrastructure that’s crumbling from sheer neglect..talk about bubbles.. and the ripple across America.. I did get in a heated conversation with one manager at a McDonald’s.. I asked him why the sheer difference in pricing in a chain fast food store.. if I can show him proof that happy meals are a third at another McDonald’s somewhere across the country in another state or city.he will gladly match their price…..
people are pulling back..credit only goes so far… credit card debt has more than doubled and a running balance over 1.1 trillion..in comparison people are now relying on credit cards for basic living expenses..so..with it doubling and our expenditures of bombs guns amo planes etc.. doubling each year..how long can we continue to fund these ventures to gain some schmuck more .. while neglecting the country it’s needs and the needs of it’s taxpayers.. could be much sooner..
How Long ?

Its not bad.. only half days.. met a few extremely interesting people..but then that’s what I loved about healthcare..obviously the wages in the wastelands is nothing like the Emerald city and state that pays excellent wages and low cost of living ..around here we get real world wages and inflation everywhere lol..up till this week take home was sixty dollars for six days.. this week it was a couple hundred lol..
oh guaranteed I am not the only one seeing this..visited with an old friend ..she is now working at the VA.. dam cheap great healthcare insurance just a couple hundred a tenth of real world prices..the golden goose policy..and of course so many holidays and vacation.. and her school loans forgiven..
everyone I know is dealing with the same things..visited with a realtor he’s terrified.. at the cost of a new home kids are going after them but discovering that the cost is over what they can afford..then having to resell the home..

This is common though in a failing civilization every declining civilization, there comes a point when those with the power to restore balance fail to act—not out of malice, but out of detachment. When comfort shields them from consequence, and status blinds them to suffering, the cracks beneath their feet go unnoticed. The cost of living rises, bankruptcy becomes common, and the middle class quietly erodes. Yet their desire for more—for influence, wealth, and spectacle—continues unchecked what is affecting the vast majority isn’t noticed. True leadership isn’t about chasing daisies from the tower to benefit a few selected… it’s about kneeling to mend the foundation. If we don’t recognize that now, we risk losing not just prosperity, but purpose.Sadly I believe its to late..even though think tanks still believe it can be turned..I see their considered and academic thoughts of potential the same way I see a car salesman.. Think tanks and policymakers often present economic recovery plans the way a car salesman pitches a new vehicle—laying out figures that make it all look affordable, manageable, even promising. But beneath the glossy numbers, the reality for working families tells a different story. The cost of living has outpaced wages, debt is mounting, and the middle class is stretched thin. The time for clever financing and optimistic projections may have passed when we should have started to make the changes was over fifty years ago. Endless wars and conflicts and neglecting the infrastructure to benefit a few has done its destructive job. What we need now isn’t another pitch—it’s a reckoning. One that prioritizes rebuilding from the ground up, not selling dreams from the top down.
Of course I am not an educated man and if you talk to my kids they see daisies veverywhere..but the ripple will come..Weimar and Zimbabwe here we come..

how did america turn into a state controlled soviet style economy . these robots are a disgrace .capitalism my ass . disgrace . those great men in Philadelphia their dreams vanished by commies in america running the sheet show
“how did america turn into a state controlled soviet style economy”
We don’t have a Soviet-style economy. We have a post WW-I Italian style economy. The U.S. elected leftist Presidents for the past 36 years, minus only the 4.5 years Donald Trump has served as President. We also elected leftist majority Congressional representation for 24 of those 36 years.
Don’t root for “capitalism.” Remember, it is a term coined by Karl Marx to define communism and move laissez faire economic theory away from Adam Smith’s open free market economics and toward a more centralized, corporatist system.
i went and read the declaration of independence. i do that occasionally when i need some strength and light . today i had a tear , im Australian but that declaration is so powerful to all people. greatest words ever
You are one of the few ld.
We as a collective country have trashed that document, trashed its Spirit, and destroyed the very idea of Freedom.
Like the Bobby Megee song says, “Freedoms just another word for nothing left to lose”
That Light has been extinguished, and the new generations could care a less.
Darkness wins again !

Try Planned Parenthood for the felines,

We have tried to find a neuter and release – apparently the “hands off birth control” in Texas seems to apply on the wild side as well. No catch neuter and relased programs within a hundred miles. And trapping animals to take them to an overloaded pound to be euthanized…yeah, tough nut to crack this one.
Best, fastest and cheapest way to neuter stray/wild Felines?
