Stiks: Getting Close

Our wayfaring, seafaring, way pointing wander is nearly to his destination: Check in from offshore via Iridium:

Wind has been holding a stuck at 18T. Hooked two nice mahi, maybe ten or twelve [pounds, 45″ long. Got one aboard, deaded it, and the other was so beautiful colored and we have no long term storage (freezer) so let it slip back still happily swimming. The first victim will now feed us for several days. How many ways can you cook fish? We are happy to experiment. Under 300 miles now.

Jug of Kikloman green (reduced sodium) and a big jug of Hoisin sauce is a good start.  Then you’ve got the Taco Bell sauce (which I regularly toss into Italian dressing on salads “kick it up a notch…”  Designer rices help.  2-days out at these speeds… We are hoping for arrival pictures….

  1. Mahi (Dorado or ‘dolphin fish’) swim constantly their whole life. Honolulu aquarium built a large circular above-ground pool with glass windows for them. Large pumps circulate the water flow strongly around the cylindrical pool. The Mahi swim strongly against the current circulating in the pool… never resting, so they appear motionless in front of the windows. The white meat fish is a favorite among the tourist ‘fish & chips’ crowd.
