Why GDP Suddenly Matters Next Week

Sure, turkey is due, but there’s a GDP report next week which could break the Big Bubble.  So we begin with a discussion of that.

Of course, we will begin with a few news headlines – because this is what’s driving the discussion.  And we won’t get too worked up over things, except to say that in a lesser risk period – like the Cuban Missile Crisis – people were digging up their back yards and putting in fallout shelters.  So, why the lack of public reaction now?

A few remarks are bound to be salted in along the way.

Plus there’s the ChartPack which came very close to the Fibonacci 0.618 retrace level we discussed in the UrbanSurvival.com article Friday.

Seems they’re all working on Stu’s prediction.

    • Women in nuclear subs?

This should get interesting when one of them needs to sit silently on the floor of the ocean for many weeks, and they find that one of the crew is already a couple of months pregnant!

I don’t know what the radiation dose is from the “small portable reactor” on board, but it sure ain’t zero.

      • Engineer friend of mine retired from nuclear sub duty. His bunk was in an area of ‘above average exposure’, and he was told upon leaving the Navy to monitor his health and not have any medical Xrays. He has made it decades now to retirement cancer-free, fortunately. Says being vegan probably has something to do with not ingesting carcinogens.

    • “Seems they’re all working on Stu’s prediction.”

MARTIN ARMSTRONG: Russia is at full nuclear alert, and so is the USA. Biden is incompetent to have control over those launch codes.

G.A. STEWART: On November 15th, 2024 post I warned that Nostradamus’ Senile Leader, who we can now identify as Joe Biden, was going to incite a Nuclear War with Russia. Three days later, Joe Biden authorized Ukraine to start launching NATO supplied missiles deep into Russia.

  2. Seven swans a swimming …

Well, more like seventy. The first surprise ATL was a bevy of migrating swans set down during our recent snow storm and … decided to stay. Yesterday I saw an enormous flock of Sandhill Cranes at high altitude. Next come ducks by the thousands and … the Canadian Air Force will be squawking in and out.

My 21 YO TomCat pulled a new one last eve. We were just home from a four couple dinner and fuzz face sat yowling at the door. Nope. He went on the lamb in the dark so night ventures are nogo. Then, he crouched and launched vomit IN my starboard side Sperry boat shoe. Sigh.

Crazy times as the Turkey comes to the plate. We, the Missus and I, are joining my elderly sister to have turkey at an assisted living facility. Sigh again.

    Enjoy the Holiday prep,
    Egor

  3. “digging up their back yards and putting in fallout shelters -reaction”

The rhyme-reaction, if you will, is after the early 1960’s crisis by the 1970’s people changed mentality by selling their city digs and moving to the sticks. From bunkers to survival retreats.

    “home affordability”

Generally 1st homes have never been affordable. A few years ago when rates were at record lows some folks went on explaining their 1st home rates were over 10%+ back in the day.

According to Freddie Mac – “Interest rates reached their highest point in modern history in 1981 when the average rate was 16.64%”.

I noticed Kroger pays $16.50 for baggers. Two baggers living together are pulling over $70,000 annually.

According to Google A.I. overview: “One rule of thumb is that the cost of your home should not exceed three times your income. On a salary of $70k, that would be $210,000.”

In my metro one can pick-up a nice brick for under 200K. There are preferences involved but that’s the big boat syndrome kicking in. Plus it’s supposed to be a 1st time home. Better than renting?

  4. Swans as winter neighbors sound delightful.

I belonged to a woman’s group that scheduled a group meal a few times a year at a local assisted living facility. once we were given corn tortilla shells layered with cheese and a little chunky tomato sauce and baked. Definitely not good, soggy and bland. But other times the food tasted just like something you might have gotten at home.

My mother lived at a place that cost $400,000 to buy her apartment plus about $3,000 a month. The food was varied and often quite luxurious. The place had 4 chiefs cooking food daily. Later the facility was sold to new owners and the food became bland.

It’s like getting a Thanksgiving lunch at a public school. Some schools are known for their exceptional meals, and others not so much, even using the same ingredients.

I’m sure you will have a lovely meal and enjoy your time with your sister. She must expect it to be good to invite you for Thanksgiving.

    • The federal guidelines and requirements.. I worked at one facility just like that.. the administrators income that was posted was a million dollars a year.. to justify that income ratio .. the facility has to clear a minimum of double his wage in profit..then considering the support staff..
which is why medical facilities have their annual witch hunt..
while a federally funded facility the wages all come from taxes so the costs are split up 700 million ways..
the reason for meal changes is that’s one of the few places a facility can cut costs.
we used the menus from the assisted living center because it was the cheapest meal menu you could get. That’s also why doctors refuse to see Medicare and Medicaid patients.. the average per hour contribution th a medical facility is 3.50 cents per hour..one of my guys living had gotten a bill showing what the government paid and what the bill was.its also why the cancer clinic at first booted out one of the guys living in our spare room. he didn’t have the fifty thousand to give as a deposit on his care.. it took three months for them to get that straightened out.
its the same with homes to..your housing brick and mortar expenses are set in stone..
where a homeowner has to flex is food gifts and energy.. dining out going to a movie or a club..cable internet clothing is all optional..
most of the private for profit healthcare institutions have to justify the high wages..then to get those high wages they have to either charge more or cut back..its the guys at the bottom that get hit..when electric costs went up..it wasn’t much but everyone got their hours cut at the local gas station..they make 12 an hour the assistant manager gets 13..
rent went up as well.. low income housing is hitting close to two grand a month plus utilities..

  5. Speaking of A.I. the billionaires within the DOGE team will farm out the current .gov jobs to their companies, themselves. Similar to when Russia went over the falls and Russian oligarchs privatized the former .gov gigs. The Russian folks went along. Some .gov gigs will surly be replaced with A.I.

Instead of car license plates digital transponders on the cars connected to satellite receivers. The cameras will see the folks who won’t go along and physical police can get them.

All of Atlanta is and has been under camera surveillance. The connection of 40,000 cameras is a wonder.

  6. (“home-buyers are not in a hurry to step-up and buy. “)

hmm…could it be that their income level isn’t adequate to afford the house loans?
average cost of a home is minimum quarter million with a house payment of twenty dollars an hour along with escalating prices. it’s better to stay where your at. with California building new homes for illegals the housing market should be brisk..

  7. (“.And from our “Don’t let the door slap you on the butt on the way out” department: Woke Actress Ellen Flees America For Europe In Wake Of Trump Win. Keep her. Please.”)

    OR…
this seems to be a trend between entertainers and a variety of other people that have been video taped and recorded of their involvement in those alleged satanic worshipping and child trafficking parties in upper circles.

  8. Air Travel on Thanksgiving: Actually, the worst times are just before… and after the actual holiday. Decades ago I decided to fly from Honolulu back to my roots in Wisconsin ‘around Thanksgiving’. The only convenient (and cheap) flight departed on Thanksgiving day proper. NorthWest Airlines had a convenient flight I always took to Minneapolis that had one stop in LA, and the same plane, a 747, continued on the second leg. It afforded a nice chance to get off the plane and stretch legs at the terminal before continuing on the redeye overnight leg of the journey.

The Honolulu to LA leg leaving in the late afternoon was about half full. Everyone got off in LA. Our reboarding time in LA was delayed as the gate agent announced the plane was being held to load extra mail and cargo onboard, since we had so few passengers. When we boarded I saw only a few single passengers, no families, no children. Once onboard and seated, the cabin attendants announced that they were taking on a training crew, so there would be twice the normal attendants to take care of our needs. Upon takeoff, the cabin crew quickly went through departure procedures. I looked around at my empty cabin. I was the only passenger visible in my section.

Soon my senior cabin attendant came and sat next to me for a chat. Her trainee was on her own for now, and she told me that they had first class turkey dinners for everyone on board, along with champagne, and let her know when I was hungry and she would get dinner for me. I asked her how many passengers were on this 747. “Twelve” was the answer! I was hungry, so I had her get me dinner, ala First Class with real china, and my own bottle of champagne, spread across two tray tables. Absolutely the best Thanksgiving dinner I ever had. I don’t remember the movie. I dozed a bit. But before landing the attendant came back with a sealed bottle of champagne and told me to stuff it into my carry-on and don’t let anyone see it.

When family picked me up in Minneapolis they said they were sorry I missed Thanksgiving. I said I didn’t miss a thing! Both NorthWest and the 747s are gone now, but not forgotten.

  9. re: The Dorito Theory
    feat: “Red Water”, 2003

    Folks,
The beginnings of Doritos began at a theme park in Anaheim some sixty years ago as the current Vice-President entered this realm farther north which was originally colonized by the King of Spain in 1772. Earlier this week Hawaii’s KHON2 informed the minions of flight restrictions about the Big Island including Waimea (“Red Water”) until this coming Monday. The Second Couple are taking vacation. The parent of KHON2 is apparently owner of the largest number of tv stations in America, and was founded in the birthplace city of President Biden.

The UK’s “Daily Mail” mentioned the Hawaii junket along with a post-election loss image of the Vice-President aboard Air Force Two working her way through a red-packaged 3½ oz. serving of Nacho Cheese Doritos tortilla chips. The media outlet also examined already-polled chances if a rumored 2028 run for the White House materializes.

Let’s segue to our seer of the charts, DJ George, for more on the “three score plus four” même. Here we go with a Fab Four number from the 1967 Sgt. Pepper’s album –
    “When I’m Sixty-Four”.

  10. Have you given the thought to Biden’s recent actions.. in an attempt to put Trump smack dab in the middle of WW3..
    YEAH BUT…..
consider all the NATO countries that because we supported Ukraine.. stood up as one.. nato.. Now Biden administration is willing to not only put Trump in a very difficult situation..potentially destroying mankind.. but he’s putting all the NATO countries in front to be destroyed..
I wonder just what they think of this idea..its one thing if he desires to commit suicide but why take everybody else with him.. how much will these other countries if this can be resolved view the USA as leader of the pack..

  11. Stu’s latest post is worth a read.
Attempts to provoke a response by Putin have only left NATO with it all hanging out. My suspicion is that Putin is turning up the rhetoric just to see how extreme a response he can get from NATO. That is, he is gaming Biden again (or gaming whomever is pulling the houseplant marionette strings this week). This would suggest that there is a possibility that Putin is already intent on riding out the leadership transition, barring a huge tactical error by NATO, and milking the situation for maximum propaganda value. A successful missile attack against political targets might be sufficient.
