We’re sick of reading about the Rich Pricks – and pretenders like Klaus Schwab – who have designs on taking over the world. While – at the very same instant – being worse “solutions” than anything they are trying to replace.
This is not just me talking sour grapes here. It’s people like Elon Musk who post on X:
The problem is in the broken structure of the entire world economic system and the solution is not to kill off some number of lesser humans leaving a few incapable pricks to restart. That’s not how Nature works, nor will it be how humans work.
War Among the Business Models
We use the term “business model” in a spectacularly broad sense around here. Because it’s not just the pro formas that all companies use as autopilots to lead them to eventual profits. It’s in the interactions between Models.
Let’s go through what we see as the MAJOR Business Models shuffling at the moment, Because the “restructuring of relationships” is what drives racism, DEI, the Multi-Wars, globalism, IP warfare, and death merchants. Just a few today, though, because we don’t want to overload your thinking.
- The War on U.S. Autonomy. In this mess, globalists – who we deeply suspect of running those biolabs in Wuhan and Ukraine (to name two hot spots) are using their bastard lab-child as an excuse to expand powers of the WHO. They are trying to claim primacy – superseding even the Constitution, long the ultimate Business Model Judge and Jury in the country formerly called America. Constitution lessons: Let’s review the emoluments clause and war powers.
- The War on Fungibility. In this one, governments were strong-armed into letting made-up bullshit (crypto) achieve semi-legitimacy – which is now resulting in the corporate-FedGov alliance plans to screw small holders of cryptos through an onerous criminal violations scheme. Which will funnel profits to the Greedster financiers, allowing the FedGov to cozy up even more to the crooks of Wall Street. Bitcoin ETF Trading Volumes and Holdings Keep Rising After Launch but BTC Price Struggles (cryptopotato) Checking the coin crapper today, $41,300 something. Tell us you didn’t buy at the top?
- War on “Free Speech.” In this one, major institutions rather than allow all sides to speak views, suppresses actual free speech on the basis of race, gender, or national origin. All pimped by a cadre of generally over 40 predominantly White liberal women who married, divorced, or inherited well and are a gullible as suckerfish to the guilt pitches from pandering lefties. How dare you catch their plagiarizing! Colleges fail to prepare students for the reality that free speech might cost them a job. DEI suckas.
- War on Borders. Which if Russia does it (in Crimea) is a bad thing. But which if Drooler Joe and that “should be impeached” cabinet fellow do is somehow turned into upside-down patriotism. Truly boggles the mind. Nato warns of all-out war with Russia in next 20 years. Try the next 18-months. Wars and avalanches pick up speed surprisingly fast. And from the Con Man in Chief? Biden Trashes Trump For Calling America a ‘Failed Nation’. Trump has a horrible personality, but his policy points are often spot on. Failing not failed. Give us time, though.
By the way, keep an eye on this one: France MAY already have ground forces in Ukraine. Russia summoned French ambassador for explanation: Members of the regular French army killed French in Kharkiv – They were not mercenaries.
We will say it again: Two-state solution is dead. Sloppy Joe jist doesn’t want to hear it until after “election” day, though. Netanyahu rejects US ‘attempt to impose’ its plan, revealing rift:
Bet on Taiwan moving into the China sphere shortly, one way or the other: US-China working group meets face-to-face for first time in Beijing.
We have lots of other “fronts”” in the war among the Business Models. For example the electric versus fossil fueled autos. Everyone with a nickel’s worth of brains know that EVs are great for some apps (moderate weather, in-city) but are horrible in extreme heat or cold, have limited range, and have the effect of isolating the country in-place should the Grid go hard down. Rental giant Hertz dumps EVs, including Teslas, for gas cars | Reuters.
A HUGE coming battle is in Software. We see this one as presently in the Balkanization phase. Meaning Software was fairly ubiquitous, but the “Factions” are now “source owners” – who have studiously updated and made to work on upstart OS’s old working code. Then there are the Bean Counter Lease Code warriors. Who have already seized Microsoft Office and turned it into 365 in order to grab an annual licensing or use fee. Adobe – whose products you could once own outright, has also succumbed to this Accounting over Customers with their leasing of so much of the product line. Taking first is the motive in these kind of headlines: Meta To Build Open-Source Artificial General Intelligence For All, Zuckerberg Says (forbes.com). But will you get equal access from the gate? Bet me? First Use is what the BigCorps are after. Once it has run, sure, share AI leftovers with little people and call it Open Source to keep the peasants from the gates.
The Open Source overall will have to be attacked sooner or later, though. We expect the groundwork for the “proprietary” versus “open source” movement will come as an outgrowth of the Patriot Act which is habitually renewed and expanded. Thus – no particular mental prowess needed – we can forecast the same FedGov- Corporatist alliance will soon begin laying groundwork for an attack on Open Source (and even home data warehousing) because YOU can’t be trusted. Even though you’re less of a security threat to America than everyone attending Davos. Can have LibreOffice adding features not in 365 can we?
Following along here? Business Models have a “shelf life” and as one of my friends titled his book Capitalism Is Past Its Sell-By Date: From Incredible Success To Enabling Environmental and Resource Unsustainability. Many of the concepts include those we covered in the serialized ebook on Peoplenomics, The 100-Year Toaster.
Let’s State the Problem Clearly
There are more than 8-billion of us humans sucking air right now. We are at – or fast approaching – the carrying limits of the planet. That’s why the globalists want to ban farting cows and make you eat bugs. Truth is? That’s a symptom of how crooked business models are forcing the planet into blow-up mode. China is being practical while we’re sitting around diddling ourselves silly with DEI bullshit: China Is Buying Up US Farmland, But Just How Much Isn’t Clear.
Thing is, each of these Planetary Elites has their own definition of what “I win!” looks like. The closer to the End Game, the more division and anarchy must arise as conditions deteriorate. Argentina’s president skewers global elites in Davos for pushing socialist agenda ‘that creates poverty’. And the next USA president will be conservative and clean house says this report in a more hopeful vein: What Heritage President Tells Global Elites at Davos Conference. But don’t bet on it. Cornered rats and all that.
Still, it doesn’t have to go this way. We can still make a world out of equality, cooperation, honesty and integrity. But time is running out.
Davos is about Business Model owners plotting to blow up everyone else in the room on behalf of their own “I win!” plans. Streetwise: Davos, AI and Investing Bubbles (wsj.com) wonders if the Davos deluded’s fascination with AI is a sell signal?
America can still be self-sufficient, still live equality, still be the shining star on the path to Better Future.
But not with greedy assholes making the decisions. (Ure points at the WH)
Elections this year are a kind of “last chance” before the Wars Between the Business Models kick into high gear. That’s how the data informs us right now. A world of War Bonds to keep Musical Chairs Playing until November will now be laid out before you. Thank you for your time.
ATR: Ham Radio -Last Hallicrafters?
During the decade I lived on a 40-foot, offshore capable sailboat in the Pacific Northwest, there was little room for ham radio. A single Yaesu and a choice of a Hustler mobile antenna, or a long wire halyard for the lower bands, was all there was room for.
Out here in the woods, that changed. I decided I really liked to collect and restore Hallicrafters equipment. Overnight, I won an eBay auction and picked up the last remaining piece needed to get my collection up to snuff. By summer, it should all be set up and operating.
This missing piece was the SX-146 receiver. Nothing special in the reviews, but it’s a serviceable radio on the lower HF bands; say 20-meters down to 80. Matched with the less than spectacular HT-146, it will become another pairing for enjoying. Still missing the 500 Hz (9 MHz centered) IF filter, but we shall see what happens over time. Collections like this take time and maybe that’s part of the fun.
When complete, the “retro desk” will feature the classics of the Hallicrafters empire:
- SX-101, Ht-32B, HT-33
- SX-111, HT-37, still looking for an HT-41 amplifier but it’s really optional.
- SX-117, HT-44, HT-45 “Loudenboomer” amp.
- SR-150 and SR 160 mobile HF radios
- The SX-146, HT-146 combo…
There’s a lot of other Hallicrafters gear around here HT-40, the very much coveted HA-5 VFO and one (or more) T.O. Keyer’s. Even have a spare mercury whetted relay in one of the drawers here.
There are people in the world who collect a lot of things; classic books, wines, and vintage cars, as well. To me, the knee on the technology curve can likely best be seen in this kind of the collection though.
Another dot to add – which will be on the Ultra-Make.com site Sunday is our exploration of ham radio meets drones. If you’re a ham and are plagued with the modern curse of Homeowner Associations, it’ll hopefully be worth a visit there Sunday. We have some ideas for you…
I wasn’t clear? Yes, I purchased an Epson dual-sided scanner this week. But I’d have nothing to do with their inkjets. I too have the Brother double-sided laser for the printing jobs. I will not be tossing the old Fujitsu S1300, though. Thanks to the readers who sent in links on how to use SANE on one of the Linux boxes as an alternative.
Chinese Diesel Heater note: We swapped out the original (two winters old) diesel heater in the greenhouse Thursday. The fan speed was going all over the place, and it was easier to just pull out the spare complete unit and swap-out rather than do a board level repair on the temp sensor. We also decided to add a spare control board to the inventory (this one from the Zon) for the next time something like this happens.
Still no word on whether the tomatoes will survive the drop to 34F even with the heater cranked.
Off to the lumber yard for some 2-by’s and a load of diesel. Looks like we’ll kiss 22F tonight. Mainly charts on PN tomorrow as the fingers slow (along with the brain) when it gets too cold. Plus, I gave myself a haircut yesterday before reading the forecast. Early on everything – the ADHD life, eh?

Ah Halicrafters. Back in the early sixties I was interested in ham radio. My dad talked to a colleague who was a mover and shaker in the Salt Lake ham community. This fellow suggested buy me a Halicrafters shortwave receiver kit. I had great fun putting it together and using it. This was in the pre sideband days. My brother and I still remember listening in on 40 meters when the big Alaska quake hit. It was amazing how almost instantly casual chatter ceased and the change to emergency management happened. Younger folks may not know this but ham radio was the only communications in and out of the disaster area for a long time.
About the review of busines model history, at the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century social Darwinism held sway. Survival of the fittest was the excuse for many predatory, unethical and sometimes illegal behaviors. Richard Hofstadter is “Social Darwinism in American Thought” provides a good overview of the subject. sorry about no link. If interested it should be possible to get a copy through your local public library.
“There are more than 8-billion of us humans sucking air right now. We are at – or fast approaching – the carrying limits of the planet.”
G, you keep saying this (along the same lines as the petri dish comments you keep making) and I disagree. It is the illusion of resource scarcity that gives power to these WHO/WEF idiots. It is the current world _framework_, reflected by the prevailing business models, which is starting to fail. That framework was established during times of expansion, discovery of ‘new’ lands, physical transit and trade, and of course capitalism which thrives in a ‘expand, discover, collect’ resources model.
Then you say “Still, it doesn’t have to go this way. We can still make a world out of equality, cooperation, honesty and integrity. But time is running out.” and that is where I am fairly perplexed. Yes, we need to be conscious of the current framework but I do not see it just going away in favor of a new framework based on what? Reduce, reuse and recycle?
Our (well, mostly western but may as well be global) brains are wired to accumulate things. Objects, partners, money, resources, etc. How do we break that wiring? We need a new god, because the old god ($) is the resource scarcity. Note: intentional lower-case there.
Great column, thought provoking!
Agree on the fact that it is the ILLUSION of resource scarcity & the ILLUSION of the need for unelected bureaucrat & corporate wannabe dictators to “fix it.” Yet these very “people” are steamrolling & ramming their agendas through without the public’s knowledge UNDER THE RADAR right now using such institutions as the SEC (the land & resource grab https://www.zerohedge.com/political/state-ags-blast-biden-wall-street-plan-sell-rights-americas-public-lands ), the brokerages & banks (The Great Taking – is a whistleblower documentary), all governments (the WEF Tech Center for one world government has been ACTIVATED https://theprint.in/economy/world-economic-forum-establishes-global-government-technology-centre-in-berlin/1926066/ ), FedGov tax dollars for several years to fly migrants (this is not just the recent news re: commercial flights: see Monkey Werx archives), and WHO & DC Nursing Home (Pandemic Agreement instead of Treaty). This is all simultaneous.

“Why then have we permitted the dominance of economic systems that commoditize everything? That create scarcity instead of abundance, that promote accumulation rather than sharing? Update to my earlier comment:
The SEC & NYSE folded under pressure re: the private & public land grab. Biden & the billionaires will find some other way to force his 30% government land reserves by 2030. It oh-so-conveniently works alongside the 15-minute cities agenda.
“Microsoft Office and turned it into 365… annual licensing or use fee. Adobe – whose products you could once own outright.”
You’re right. Software used to come in a box.
At a higher level I don’t think these small businesses can afford to buy copies of software let alone infrastructure to host it all.
The cost of a Microsoft 365 Business Standard plan is $12.50 user/month and includes cloud space. Fiber sold separately. That’s the network/business.
Vs buying boxed licenses of 6 Microsoft Office apps @ $439.99 each.

Builders and Network operators (Sysadmins) never buy retail. They buy and download one full version, then depending on the author/owner, purchase either a “site license” or an “enterprise license.” A “site license” for Orifice Pro is 12 bucks per computer. An Enterprise (or unlimited) license is typically quite a bit cheaper, but is only sold to really big players, like Coca Cola or the Federal Government.
Even a medium-sized small business can hire a geek to install Orifice @ a flat 50 bucks on every site computer (and home computers which provide WAH service), and add “Office support” to the monthly “geek-retainer fee” their IT Professional charges to oversee the company’s merchant, accounting (and AR/AP), and acquisition software.

re: wool over the eyes
feat: those of fine cloth
Andy,
Thanks for posting such an engrossing pastoral scene. The durability against buried underground decay of a Bill-like blue sweater is remarkable. The brand’s website offers that they have been weaving fine garments since 1784 and continue to do so in England. Apparently the 19 micron fibre extra-fine merino wool has for the past 50 years “been sourced sustainably from farms in New Zealand”. Those with several hundred dollars to invest in a “jumper” may choose to visit the bespoke London shoppe in Mayfair just down the road from The Apple Store and across the street from Victoria’s Secret. Beneath runs the former Tyburn River first noted in an estate survey of Edward the Confessor from 959 ad. Since the 19th century the river has been repurposed as the King’s Scholars’ Pond (KSP) Sewer serving the needs of the affluent West End. It seems to be named after Oxford and Cambridge destined students on scholarships founded by Queen Elizabeth I at a school further upstream on a hill associated with necromancy. Further downstream the river course also provides service while running beneath Buckingham Palace on its way to The Thames. Nicholas Berton’s 1962 tome “The Lost Rivers of London”, had its semi-rural River Tyne depictions updated for the 21st century by intrepid spelunkers descending into brick and concrete caverns below ground armed with methane detectors and free of officialdom’s cctv cameras. Their exploits are detailed in the “28 Days Later” blog.

8 billion sucking air and still plenty of gas & oil for war? What’s algore have to say ? NYC will be under water . Might be right, for every gallon of gas/oil burned , one gallon of water is produced.
hmm.. being a good steward to the earth is the right thing to do..
True! Keeping what’s already built will help us all tread lightly on the earth. My 27 year old car still gets 40 mpg in the mountains. Others can do that too. It may be combustion engineering, but it’s not rocket science. I still need to insure a truck for the times I need to haul heavy stuff and as backup, but no need to carry more weight than necessary.

My answer to the question – Can men change in time to save – men ? My answer has been, for years..,
– The oldest known joke was found written on the back of a clay tablet that held the inventory of a merchant’s camel train, found in Sameria, it dated around 1900 BC. It was a fart joke.
– Men, in close to 4,000 years, haven’t changed all that much, have they?
hmm.. was that BC …or are the initials about to change ..BB ( before Biden ) AB ( after Biden) DB ( during Biden)
in January 2024 DB ……
The S&P500 is currently and solidly in record territory. Up over 50 points at 4,832.
So.., what does that do to all my Elliott Wave charting?
A quick look and, voila ! – we have effectively erased the entire sell-off in the markets that started in 2022.

Thank for your most generous offer,
I prefer to be a free man. As free as a man is able to be. To come and go as I please without the need of a body guard or lawyer. To live a life without regret and be of service to others without the bond of an accountant keeping tally. And to lay my head down at night without worry or concern.
which by all means, I am a Free Man.
Now, If THE DUDE should so choose to Bless me in another way with such vast financial resources and I shall remain a Free man?
So be it!

“Everyone with a nickel’s worth of brains know that EVs are great for some apps (moderate weather, in-city) but are horrible in extreme heat or cold,”
No. No they don’t. They know EXACTLY what they’ve been told, and nothing more. Many will have to experience, first-hand and likely more than once, the pratfalls of EV ownership (and some will even have to die) before they start to raise hell. Also, they will “raise hell” rather than learn when EVs are good, bad, and why, because raising hell and demanding someone else “fix the problem” requires a lot less effort.
WE (the HAMs and home experimenters) have studied electricity, at least a little, and know what temperature does to batteries and to current flow.
George: Please never assume anyone, regardless of income, intellect, age, or station, is as smart or savvy as your readership, in general. We are an eclectic and esoteric bunch with a wide range of experiences, and (I’d like to think) share a little of our intellect and experience, simply through association. We aren’t here because we like a particular automobile marque or appliance brand, cute puppy or pussy pix, or any other shallow pursuit. We’re here because of our differences in experience, and a desire to learn from those differences, both financial, and life…
I caught a blurb on the tube the other night. ‘Might have been from Chicago. It showed long lines at the charging stations and people bitching because they’d been there for hours (some, for many hours), and their EVs simply refused to charge. Living in some place like Rockdale or West Chicago and driving to work in midtown Chicago didn’t used to be a big deal. Now, in Winter, it’s a two-day trip unless you park and take the “Ell,” and that might not even be possible in winter, unless there are (a LOT of) charging stations at the train depots.
“A HUGE coming battle is in Software.”
True, but there needn’t be.
There’s virtually nothing I can’t do with my 20yo Premier that I can’t do with a modern NLE. There’s virtually nothing I can’t do with Office97, that I can do with 365.
Can I read the contemporary file extensions? No.
Do I need to? No. except to translate them into portable or generic formats (What, exactly, is “*.DOCX” for, except to obsolesce “*.DOC?” Since I translate everything to “*.RTF,” which is a true generic and portable document format, why do I need either?)
Remember, Lucasarts and ILM were built on a room full of Amiga computers which were hopelessly outdated when George Lucas bought them, and made literal magic in countless films for 20 years AFTER he bought them.
Obsolescence is in the eye of the beholder.
Refuse to allow some megacorp to stick it in your eye.
It is impossible to own the latest, greatest, fastest computer &or software, because by the time it hits the shelf, it is, no longer the latest, greatest, newest, best, fastest, or whatever. Find a sweet spot compromise that works, and refuse to be baited or bullied off your “sweet spot.”
BTW, I own that same Fuji scanner (give or take one generation.) I haven’t used it in months. When I need to use it again, I will build an XTsp3 computer specifically to run it, my photo scanner, and a few other pieces of hardware which run extraordinarily well on Win98 or XP, but don’t run on newer systems without issues.
Why should I give myself headaches over issues which need not be, because I already have the most-elegant solution…?
“Business Models have a “shelf life” and as one of my friends titled his book Capitalism Is Past Its Sell-By Date: From Incredible Success To Enabling Environmental and Resource Unsustainability. ”
I don’t know that “Capitalism is past its sell-by date” since I don’t know that I’ve ever seen an actual free-market economy in my lifetime. It might be, since “Capitalism” was a concept created by Karl Marx to help define “Socialism.” Howsomesoever, since we’z stoopid sheeple, we’ve adopted Marx’ term to define “free market economy” and because of that, may not have noticed the switcheroo, when we went to “Crony Capitalism” or “Fascism,” which is a monetary philosophy based on socialist principles.
“Chinese Diesel Heater note: We also decided to add a spare control board to the inventory”
I suggest you mock up a dupe before this one gets pressed into service. It may become unobtanium down the road, and board level repairs on these is a bitch…
“Plus, I gave myself a haircut yesterday before reading the forecast. ”
Ditto. The first time I stepped outside I instantly thought: “WTF was I thinking…?”
So, no SX-28 or SX-42?
