The more I read about the terrible tragedy in Baltimore the worse it gets.
The new Geordie Howe international bridge between Canada and the US is going to cost around $6 billion dollars CDN or approximately $5 billion US. Granted it’s between two countries so costs are higher, but it gives me an idea of how much a bridge over a ship channel costs. Also building a bridge can take years, which in an inflationary environment means that whatever replacement cost is quoted it will be higher when it’s done.

I suppose they could replace the bridge exactly as it was which would make it a lot cheaper and a lot faster. They could dust off the original plans and even recycle and reforge and reuse the scrap steel. But why would they? ( I guess the answer would be cost and speed. )

I like Ward, his insightful info on military air power is very informative. He is a retired Naval aviator and was a RIO in a F14.
I believe he is still a gov asset. I always take his info with a grain of salt especially regarding controversial topics that the gov wants a favorable spin.
if i won the jackpot i’d ask for people in need or who needed money to let me know – people with medical debt, down payments for homes, seed money for businesses, non-profits, tuition – that sort of stuff. then i’d give away $100,000 a day to the most deserving, 365 days a year, day in and day out, for 27 1/2 years. at the end of 27 1/2 years i’d still have $300,000,000 left from the $1,300,000,000.
The Supreme Court this week ruled that hoas method of collections is illegal . So no insider lawyers buying 500,000$ houses after making them distressed for 500$ insider bids and not paying the fair value that remains above owed called theft in some circles..
