Kondratiev Got It Wrong?

(Baker City, OR) — Boy, am I ever fun to go on “vacation with” or what?

Honey, just one beer…but I have to get back to the room and works on charts because I’ve been working on this new theory about long wave economics while we’ve been watching the scenery go by…

Yep…that while explaining regression channels without paper as we trade-off driving chores.

Still, that’s dedication (or stupidity…) for you.  And the payoff has been two great insights:  One for subscribers and one in tomorrow’s UrbanSurvival :”Coping” section.

I’ll leave it to you to discern whether this is good news – or bad – as we get into long wave cycle length discussions this morning…

  1. Does Baker still have that good burrito place? I still crave a Baker Burrito from time to time.

    • We have El eradaro which is amazing mexican food but burrito construction is gone.

  2. “Meantime, Elaine and I were mighty impressed with Donald Trump Junior’s speech at the Lost and Bewildered Convention.”

And now we are able to discern the real motive behind The Donald’s Run. Papa Trump wants to be Papa Kennedy when he grows up. By using the RNC as his personal platform, he gains exposure for all the little Trumplings who may well be political wannabees. Or, like Papa Kennedy, perhaps Daddy Donald wants his offspring to be a political dynasty on beyond the world of business and media, despite whatever they themselves may desire. Win or lose the White House, he gives them the foothold they need to level up, by-passing at least some of the travails of such a career path.

Keep the popcorn handy. It appears we’re nowhere near the end of this journey.

  3. George,
Over the years I have wondered how anything like the Kondratiev ‘long wave’ model could be effective in a totally rigged market. Surely, Kondratiev could not have known about modern QE, quote stuffing, HFT, and other market manipulations. Can you explain how the long wave corrects for obvious market meddling?

  4. i dont know about whether kontrathief got it wrong or not, but congress may be tring to get it right??
BREAKING: Congress Bypasses FBI, Moves To Charge Hillary With Federal Crime

It looks like there could be some good news on the horizon for anyone outraged that Hillary Clinton has not been held legally responsible for any of her crimes against the American people.

According to reports, in a letter to U.S. Attorney Channing Phillips signed by Chaffetz and Goodaltte, Congress has asked the court to open an investigation to determine whether Clinton committed perjury.

    The letter is included below:

    Dear Mr. Phillips:

We write to request an investigation to determine whether Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton committed perjury and made false statements during her testimony under oath before congressional committees.

While testifying before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on July 7, 2016, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director James Comey stated the truthfulness of Secretary’s testimony before Congress was not within the scope of the FBI’s investigation. Nor had the FBI even considered any of Secretary Clinton’s testimony.

Director Comey further testified the Department of Justice requires a criminal referral from Congress to initiate an investigation of Secretary Clinton’s congressional testimony. We are writing for that purpose.
The evidence collected by the FBI during its investigation of Secretary Clinton’s use of a personal email system appears to directly contradict several aspects of her sworn testimony.

In light of those contradictions, the Department should investigate and determine whether to prosecute Secretary Clinton for violating statutes that prohibit perjury and false statements to Congress, or any other relevant statutes.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

During FBI Director Comey’s testimony before Congress, he admitted that statements made by Clinton under oath were “not true” and that her handling of this nation’s classified material was “extremely careless.”

    • If Clinton were running against a normal opponent (even a right-wing nut-case like Cruz) your argument would have validity – but given that the Republican party this time is fronted by a crass, bombastic egoist of ‘yuge’ proportions . . . the government would be slitting their own throats . . .

    • That’s all republicans got – snoopy snooping and endless, perpetual investigations.

I’d rather hear why someone should vote republican – you know like actually leading and legislating – jobs, healthcare, trade, education, defense, environment, energy, developing tech, etc. I’m at a loss to think of one important piece of legislation that benefited We The People that the republicans have passed since they gained control.
